Hey, y', all, it's Lauren LaRosa. And this is is the latest with Lauren LaRosa. Oh, my God, my bracelets are doing the most. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and the conversations that shake the room. So today, behind the scenes of the grind, checking in. It has been a week. This has been the first week back from our July 4th holiday break. And it has been tough. I told you guys, it's been tough getting up every morning. So I am so, so happy. Like, thank the Lord that we are at the end of the week and I'm going to be able to sleep in a bit. But this weekend, you know, it'll be festive and we're back to work on Monday. I'm going to try and, you know, disconnect a bit because I really enjoyed doing that last weekend for the Fourth of July. But we'll see what's possible because y' all know that is so much easier said than done when you live in a world where things are happening 247 every minute of the day. Now, getting on into the latest, if we are speaking about things happening, there's new music that is dropping. We have or dropped at this point. By the time you guys hear this podcast, Justin Bieber has dropped his new album called Swag, which was, it was a surprise album. But, you know, fans have been speculating for some time that Justin was going to come out with some new music. And honestly, fans have been wanting Justin Bieber to come out with new music because Justin Bieber has been, he's been all over the place recently. There has been rumors that him and his wife, Hailey Bieber were separated and not together together. There has been rumors that Justin Bieber is allegedly going through financial issues that he's in like millions and Millions of dollars worth of debt. There have been rumors that Justin Bieber, you know, is allegedly going through. You know, people felt like it was almost like a mental health crisis because of some of the things that he was posting online, the way he was posting online. And, you know, it's just been a lot. There's been a lot of conversation around Justin Bieber. There was also the last run in where we saw him on camera getting into it with the paparazzi. Let's take a listen to this.
Justin Bieber
You are not on the sidewalk. Get on the. Get on the sidewalk. Get on the sidewalk. Get on the sidewalk. Boundaries. You know what I mean? I'm not afraid to set boundaries. Don't do this. You're not afraid to be setting with you in drunk property. You know, I'm a father of a son. No, I'm a father of a real kid. And now you are. Don't act like you weren't two seconds ago. Stop. That's a real family.
Lauren LaRosa
Now, that run in happened not too long ago. That was actually June 12th. Right. So he's getting into it with the paparazzi in the midst of all these things that I just told you guys. So fans have been like, okay, it's Justin. All right, like, somebody go check on Justin. We need to know what's going on. Let's get some music, because that's where you talk to us. That's where you let us in. We need to hear from you. Wink if you. Okay, so Justin Bieber dropping swag. And on the album, Justin Bieber addresses a lot. He does address, you know, people thinking. Thinking that he's crazy. And he says, you know, he's doing just fine. But the paparazzi does suck through a skit that he does with Drew Ski. Comedian Drew Ski. He also very clearly addressed the whole him and Hailey Bieber breakup rumors because. Or divorce rumors because they're married. If they, you know, not together, it's a divorce. Because, first of all, let me just tell you guys, it's surprise album. The art for the album fans are definitely, you know, talking about the fact that the album art is giving. This is his version of Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, which is a Kendrick Lamar album that dropped. Dropped in 2022. Now, this album art was dropped, and it was shot by a photographer named Renell Mandreno. So this photographer shot various photos. And if you go to. I believe Complex News covered this. We'll have these photos posted on the Brown Girl grinding Instagram. It's Brown Girl Grinding, which is Common spelling Instagram. So you guys could take a look at it from here on the podcast for all the low riders that actually want to see the art I'm talking about. But this photographer shot this art back in 2022 of Kendrick Lamar and his newborn baby at the time and his significant other as well. And then Justin Bieber drops his art for swag, this surprise album in the last 24 hours. It is very much the same. Like, you have the couch shot, there's the whole family shot with the baby. You know, it's very much the same. Very much, you know, very much the same clothing is not exactly the same, but you can see the inspiration. I know this has not been concerned confirmed by Justin Bieber if this Kendrick Lamar, Mr. Morale and the big Steppers cover photo was the actual inspo. But you can infer for sure, y' all take a look and let me know what y' all think. But anyway, on that album, on Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale and the big suppers, he gets into a lot of things. We find out that he has, you know, this is the first time we see one of his newborn kids. He just gets very interpersonal in this. And Justin Bieber, you know, attempted to do that in this album as well with addressing things like, you know, is the paparazzi driving him crazy right now? But while all of this is going on, Justin Bieber is also currently in the latest of headlines because he has just recently settled a very huge financial dispute. So there's a guy named Scooter Braun. Scooter Braun and Usher together discovered Justin Bieber. Scooter Braun was acting like a manager of sorts for a very long time for Justin Bieber. And TMZ is reporting from sources with direct knowledge that Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun hammer out a crazy settlement on a a large amount of money that is alleged to have been owed to Scooter Braun by Justin Bieber. Now, Scooter Braun is a guy that's been in the music game for some time. He's also the guy that you guys will remember. Taylor Swift has some issues with about, you know, he was buying or he bought her catalog and she was saying it was done unfairly because she was never getting a chance to buy it. And you know, that whole thing he worked around Little John for some time. He came up in Atlanta area throwing parties. And then he also discovered Tori Kelly as well, too. And then he grew to be like, huge force in music and music management and discovering artists as well. So he is him and Usher brought us Justin Bieber, and they had been working together for some time. And when conversations came out about Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun potentially having issues, it was almost unbelievable because they had been close in business for so long that we, the fans and, you know, just onlookers who knew their relationship looked at them as family. But it had always been rumored that there were some issues. And then some years ago, I was actually still at TMZ when I worked on this story. No matter of fact, it was right when I left tmz. TMZ had actually did a story that. Let me go and find that. Matter of fact, hold on, let me see if I can find that. Because it was about their relationship. Brown Girl grinding. Brown Girl Grinding is our platform on social. So, you know, I'm Lauren LaRosa. This is the latest with Lauren LaRosa. But I do post news and, you know, conversation topics via social media. Even when I'm at the center of the conversation or, you know, I'm not speaking on the news, just, you know, breaking things via social media on X. Lauren LaRose on X. And then I, you know, have conversations and bring the news on Instagram via my platform. Brown Girl Grinding. I broke a story about Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun. So the story was about Scooter Braun. Scooter Braun also worked with Ariana Grande. When I tell y', all, force in music. Huge force in music. So this was back on August 31, 2023, earlier that TMZ had actually reported that Ariana Grande and Scooter Braun had went their separate ways because he was managing her and she decided to go elsewhere. And then in that same story, they had mentioned that Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun were still in a contract. And that was on paper, basically, like, you know what I mean? Scooter Braun was listed on paper still as Justin Bieber's manager, and they recently had a new deal. Now, the reason why TMZ did this story is because when Ariana Grande announced that she was officially splitting ways with Scooter Braun, there had already been conversation around because he also represents works with Demi Lovato. He had Ariana Grande and he had Justin Bieber all at the same time, right? So there was rumors that him and Demi Lovato were splitting. And then that came out to not be true. And then there was conversation around him and Ariana Grande going their separate ways. That came out to be true. And then on top of all this, there have been conversation that Scooter Braun and Justin Bieber were not seeing eye to eye. So this story that they did was kind of like clearing up, you know, who's working with who and who's not. I then was told when this story broke, and this was an exclusive that I broke back in August 2023, that although on paper Justin Bieber was still listed as Scooter Braun's talent, like, you know, Scooter Braun was still managing Justin Bieber and there was still recently a deal in play, I was told that that is, that was true on paper, but that Justin Bieber is not at all, at the time, not at all happy about working with Scooter. I was told that the relationship at that point back in August of 2023 was obsolete. Now my source had put it to me like, Justin is not even interested in being in the same room as Scooter. So that was a clear telltale sign that there was something wrong. Because you go from, you know, this man discovered you as a kid and you guys are. They literally were like family, like you would see. And Scooter seems to be close to. I don't know him personally, but Scooter Braun seems to be close to all of his artists and it seems like, you know, he takes all of his artists under his wing. I don't know what the disconnect here between him and Justin Bieber was. Well, at the time I didn't, we didn't found out some more information now, which is what we're going to get into. But there was clearly a disconnect at this time. So I was told that they didn't even want to be in the same room together back in August of 2023. And then I was also told that there is little to no. At that time, there was little to no direct communication between Justin Bieber and Scooter Bryan. At that point. All they were doing was business dealings and that was being done through legal department. So that was a huge telltale sign. Fast forward. We are in, you know, the second week of July, it's early July 2025, right? So this has been brewing for some time and again there's all these rumors of money issues and all these things. So what TMZ was told was that there was a, there was a $40 million advance from AEG that Justin Bieber was given for his Justice Tour. For his justice tour. But when Justin Bieber decided to not do the tour early, AG demanded that Justin Bieber repay them $26 million of that scooter's company, HYBE agreed to pay that amount to AEG. That was old. And then Justin agreed to repay hybe over 10 years. From what TMZ is reporting, they're alleging that Justin Bieber only made one payment to Scooter Braun, and then he completely stopped paying. But now Justin Bieber has made good on that debt, plus another one. They said that there was an additional debt. So according to their sources, they say the settlement terms also call for Scooter to get back half. Scooter Braun to get back half of $11 million. That said, Justin owed him in various unpaid commissions that have piled up over the years. Because, like I told you guys, from what my source had told me, they were only doing business, you know, through attorneys. But there was no direct contact. But Justin wasn't happy. Even though they were still working with each other on paper, Justin was not happy. So I can kind of see where the communication slipped. But, yeah, so, you know, things have been settled, and now Justin Bieber comes out with this surprise album. Now, again, it's been some time since Justin Bieber has dropped the music, right? And Justin Bieber, you know, being discovered by Scooter Braun and Usher being brought to the forefront by Usher. For a lot of people. A lot of people think that Usher solely is who discovered Justin Bieber, but that's because Usher really put him under his wing, like, tremendous, tremendously. I mean, from the way that Justin Bieber performs to, you know, some people will say to how he sings to his musical selection on all of his projects. He is very much the. The brainchild of Usher in a. You know, like that. That Atlanta soul. Now, let me tell y' all how Justin Bieber might have got himself in trouble on this album, right? Because there's a skit on this project with comedian Drew Ski. There's a couple of them. There's, I believe, about two. One of them is toward the end of the album, and Drew Ski is being, you know, funny. Drew Ski. And he does a lot of, like, play on, like, race culture, right? Like, you know, he did the white face, and he dressed up as, like, the white frat guy before. And he's done all the things. So in this skit, he's talking to Justin Bieber about Justin Bieber being black. Let's take a listen.
Drew Ski
No, I said this album kind of sound. You got some soul on this album, too. You kind of sound black on this motherfucker, man. You played that last song. I said, damn, you got a little. Hey, I'm telling you, you more than 2% on this album right here, I can hear the soul.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank.
Drew Ski
Soul is black.
Justin Bieber
Thank you.
Drew Ski
Your skin white, but your soul black. Justin. I promise you, man.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank you.
Drew Ski
Damn. You sure you don't want no black in my.
Lauren LaRosa
When I tell y', all, the people were upset, okay? Justin Bieber was trending all morning because he dropped the music. And it's been a while, but the people were like, when I got to this skit, I turned it off, and I knew, because Justin Bieber says thank you in that skit. Like, he laughs it off, but he says thank you. And I'm sure Justin Bieber has heard this a lot, because Justin Bieber is one of them people that I know. And I. I know black people hate it when you say this. When we talk about the invites to the cookout, I'm sorry to tell y', all, Justin Bieber not only has been invited to the cookout, but we allow him to bring food, Okay? Y' all gonna be mad at me for saying that one. Y' all mad at Drew Ski for offering Justin Bieber the black and mild. Y' all gonna be mad when I tell y' all he might can't do the potato because he ain't been around in a minute. I. I ain't seen him. Now I'm hearing him. I'm like, okay, all right. But I. Justin Bieber could. He. He definitely bringing no greens, but he could bring a little. You know, Justin Bieber could bring the baked beans to the potato salad. Like, he's invited and he could bring food. He. I say that to say jokingly, that Justin Bieber has been. Whether people have loved to hear or not, Justin Bieber has been synonymous with soul and the soul sound for a very long time. Most people equate that soul sound to us two black people. Now people are upset, number one, that it is even being equated with soul and black people. And I don't know why, to be honest with you. I. Maybe I'm just not enriched. Enriched on my music history enough. But I thought that that was an obvious known thing because we created so many different genres of music that stem from such a soulful place, including rock, including, you know, the blues and jazz and all these things. I never knew we had an issue with being equated to soul. But then, you know, the girls, the girlies, the people are also in a very big tizzy because Justin Bieber just, you know, just the whole thing of, you got the 2% black, and Justin Bieber laughs it off and says, thank you, people Are like, we're too inviting to these things. Like, we're way too inviting to these things. And there have been conversation years ago about Justin Bieber using the N word and, you know, the whole forgiving, you know, we forgive people for things and whatever. I just feel like at this point with Justin Bieber, I'm not offended by Justin Bieber. That whole N word conversation and controversy was a long time ago. I'm not saying that it was right, but it was a long time ago. But y', all, if y' all listen to this album, the music is good, the skits are funny. People just find a reason to be upset about anything. And if I'm being honest with y', all, ain't nobody got nothing to be upset about right now. But Justin Bieber, the man just had to be out $26 million and now he is free and able to do his own thing with his music. Ain't nobody got nothing to be mad about with him. $26 million, that's a rich people problem. But that is a heck of a problem to have 26 million on top of what that other 11 million that we talked about. Ain't nobody. Ain't no. Ain't nobody got nothing to be mad about. Not a dang thing. We also got new music from the Clips this weekend. Make sure you guys go and take a listen to let God sort them out. We talked to the Clips on the Breakfast Club. You guys can head on over to the Breakfast Club everywhere on Social to take a listen to that. But I attended the Clips private listening event at the Roc Nation headquarters. And I mean, we weren't allowed to record anything inside of there, but it was a very intimate setting. There were probably about like maybe 20 of us in the room they played. And this was way before they started having conversations about the songs, way before they started having conversations about Kendrick being on any music. And you know, the Clips talking about they had to leave Def Jam because they wouldn't take Kendrick off of the music because Def Jam didn't want anything. Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T because of Pusha T and Drake's beef, right? So this was way before any of that. So imagine being in the room and we're listening and everybody thought that. That the sneaky surprise verse we were going to get was going to be a Jay Z verse that had been the rumor for some time because it was like, you know, the big Clips reunion, especially because they haven't worked together in like 15, 16 years as. As like, you know, this the group. I'M saying the clips, but now they're just clips. But yeah, so especially after they did come out and have the conversation about leaving Def Jam and coming on over to Roc Nation and all of those things, people really thought that that sneaky little verse he was going to get was going to be Jay Z. And it was not. It was Kendrick Lamar. The verse went on to end up leaking, you guys. This was the leak that dropped. And people were pissed off about the leak because it's, you know, they just feel like, let the artists do their thing. Like, let's really get it when we're supposed to get it because you can't even hear it. Like, you literally can't even. You can't really get the vibe for it, Right? But imagine being in that room and not knowing that and then, boom, the Kendrick Rush dropped and then you're hearing like, the music is so good. This was probably. I'm not gonna lie to you guys, I'm not like a huge Clips fan. Like, I'm not a clipster. That's what they call their fan group. Of course I, you know, know how legendary and iconic and great the. The duo, you know, are together and even separately. But I'm not somebody that can like, spit down all their albums and their songs and all those things. But this album right here has been a non stop for me since. Since I've been able to stream it for the first listening party. So take a, you know, this weekend, make sure y' all get into all the good music. You know what I mean? Having a good time. And even if you're not hearing this on the weekend, even if you are catching this later on in the week, put on some good music. That Justin Bieber album is good. Laugh at them skits, clips. Oh, they gonna take you there. I'm Lauren LaRosa. This has been the latest with Lauren LaRosa. And lately we've been getting some good music, y'.

Host/Author: iHeartPodcasts
In this electrifying episode of The Breakfast Club, host Lauren LaRosa delves deep into the latest happenings in the music industry, focusing primarily on Justin Bieber's surprising new album release and his significant financial settlement. Additionally, the legendary hip-hop duo Clipse makes a much-anticipated comeback, stirring excitement among fans. This episode offers a comprehensive look at these major events, enriched with insider insights and candid opinions.
Lauren kicks off the discussion by highlighting Justin Bieber's unexpected drop of his latest album, Swag. This surprise release has set the music world abuzz, especially given the rumors surrounding Bieber's personal and professional life.
Lauren LaRosa [02:15]: "Justin Bieber has been all over the place recently—rumors about his marriage, financial struggles, and even his mental health have kept fans on edge. Dropping Swag feels like his way of reconnecting with his audience."
The album art for Swag has drawn particular attention due to its striking resemblance to Kendrick Lamar's 2022 masterpiece, Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. Both albums feature similar family-centric imagery, sparking discussions about artistic inspiration and originality.
Lauren LaRosa [04:30]: "The album cover for Swag mirrors the intimate family shots we saw in Kendrick's album. While Justin hasn't confirmed any direct inspiration, the similarities are undeniable."
Bieber uses the album as a platform to address various personal issues, including misunderstandings about his mental health and public disputes with paparazzi. A notable moment in the album is a skit featuring comedian Drew Ski, which has sparked both laughter and controversy among listeners.
Lauren LaRosa [14:20]: "There's a skit in Swag where Drew Ski jokes about Justin's soulfulness, which some listeners found offensive. Justin's lighthearted response—'Thank you'—didn't sit well with everyone, leading to mixed reactions."
A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to Justin Bieber's recent financial settlement, which has been a hot topic in entertainment news. Lauren provides an in-depth analysis of the situation, revealing that Bieber has successfully settled a $26 million debt with his former manager, Scooter Braun.
Lauren LaRosa [10:45]: "Justin Bieber has just cleared a hefty $26 million debt owed to Scooter Braun. This settlement not only alleviates a massive financial burden but also signifies a new chapter in Bieber's career, free from past financial entanglements."
Lauren traces the history of Bieber's relationship with Braun, detailing how frustrations eventually led to legal and financial disputes. She explains that despite their long-standing professional ties, personal differences had created a rift, culminating in the need for a substantial settlement.
Lauren LaRosa [08:00]: "Back in August 2023, rumors surfaced about Justin and Scooter's strained relationship. They moved from direct interactions to communicating solely through legal channels, signaling deep-seated issues beneath their seemingly strong partnership."
The settlement terms reportedly require Braun to return half of an $11 million sum owed to him, in addition to resolving unpaid commissions. This financial freedom allows Bieber to focus entirely on his music and personal life without the shadow of debt looming over him.
Lauren LaRosa [12:30]: "Clearing this $26 million debt is monumental. It removes a significant obstacle, enabling Justin to pursue his artistic endeavors with renewed vigor and independence."
Shifting focus, Lauren excitedly discusses the return of the iconic hip-hop duo Clipse. After a 15-year hiatus, Clipse has resurfaced with new music that has already started making waves in the industry.
Lauren LaRosa [16:00]: "Clipse is back! Their new album has been a hit since its first listening party, and fans can't get enough of their signature style mixed with fresh new sounds."
A particularly noteworthy highlight is the collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, which was initially shrouded in secrecy. The duo's private listening event at Roc Nation saw a leaked verse from Kendrick, igniting both anticipation and frustration among fans due to the untimely leak.
Lauren LaRosa [17:45]: "We had an exclusive listening session at Roc Nation, and the anticipation was sky-high for that Kendrick verse. Unfortunately, it leaked early, which left many feeling like the magic moment was spoiled."
Despite the leak, Lauren praises Clipse's ability to deliver high-quality music, emphasizing that the duo's reunion is a significant moment for hip-hop enthusiasts.
Lauren LaRosa [19:10]: "Even though the Kendrick verse leak was disappointing, Clipse's new tracks are phenomenal. Their chemistry is undeniable, and this comeback is exactly what the genre needed."
Lauren also touches upon the strategic move of Clipse leaving Def Jam for Roc Nation, hinting at industry shifts and the importance of creative control for artists.
Lauren LaRosa [18:30]: "Leaving Def Jam for Roc Nation was a bold move, but it seems to have paid off. Roc Nation's support has allowed Clipse to explore new creative avenues without constraints."
The episode doesn't shy away from the mixed reactions these developments have elicited among fans and the public. Justin Bieber's handling of the skits and personal revelations in Swag has polarized listeners, with some appreciating his vulnerability while others feel disconnected.
Lauren LaRosa [15:50]: "People are split on Swag. Some love the raw honesty, while others are critical of how certain skits and messages are portrayed. It's a testament to how Bieber continues to evolve as an artist."
Similarly, Clipse's return has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm from long-time fans eager to see their favorite duo back in action, despite minor setbacks like the early verse leak.
Lauren LaRosa [19:45]: "The Clipse reunion has reignited the passion of their fanbase. Even with the hiccup of the leaked verse, the excitement surrounding their new music is tangible and positive."
In this dynamic episode, Lauren LaRosa masterfully navigates through the intertwined stories of Justin Bieber's artistic resurgence and financial liberation, alongside Clipse's celebrated return to the music scene. Her insightful commentary provides listeners with a nuanced understanding of these events, making the episode a must-listen for fans eager to stay updated on the latest in pop culture and entertainment.
