Bro, these dogs about to really crazy. I don't know how okay to all the dog people out there. I don't know how y' all deal with dogs running all around your house and dog everywhere, but this about to make me say, hey, I can't do this no more.
DJ Envy
She got you cleaning up poop, bruh.
Caller/Listener
I don't. I just refuse. Like, I don't even walk. These dogs.
DJ Envy
Y' all got kids.
Caller/Listener
I don't do nothing. Yeah.
DJ Envy
Lord have mercy.
Angela Yee
Damn. He about to walk away because
Charlamagne Tha God
what are they doing to you?
Caller/Listener
Man, listen, the dogs ain't doing nothing to me.
They just.
They just stupid dogs. And I hate dogs everywhere. Well, I don't. I don't like going to work with dog hair all over me, okay? That's crazy, man. Look, these dogs don't even be in my car. And I got dog hair in my car. I vacuum in my car and my old lady every day because I'm sick of these dogs.
DJ Envy
It sound like y' all need more space, like more. More space than where? When y' all residents.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, we got a nice house. Ain't no space. You need to get rid of these. Damn.
DJ Envy
All right, well, make one. Make one of them come up missing, you know?
Charlamagne Tha God
No, no, don't do that.
Caller/Listener
Listen, this is what made me call this morning. I listen to this show every morning on my way to work, just like I'm doing now. Bro, I had a dream about poisoning them dogs. Last night, I say, boy, I might need to talk. I might need to call Charlamagne and talk to him, but there's something going on with my mental.
DJ Envy
Did y' all have a.
Caller/Listener
Having dream about.
DJ Envy
Did you and your wife have a conversation? Did you tell her how you feel?
Caller/Listener
Yeah, we had one a few months ago, and that turned into a big old argument. So I. I ain't trying to go there no more.
Charlamagne Tha God
So why don't you buy one of them kid gates? You know, the little kitty gates. But buy one of them little kitty gates and put the dogs in the kitty gates.
Caller/Listener
Got one. Charlie. I don't want the dogs in the house. I don't care what kind of solution you trying to give me.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, man.
DJ Envy
So let me. Let me.
Caller/Listener
I don't want the dogs in the house.
DJ Envy
So let me tell you something. That was off when you heard that they was. When you heard the lie that they was eating cats and dogs in Ohio. Did you. Did you. Did you smile a little bit? Did you think about taking a little trip?
Caller/Listener
Little. Little bit.
Charlamagne Tha God
You have a good one, man. Have a good one.
Caller/Listener
Y' all have a good one, man.
Charlamagne Tha God
Get it off your chest. 800-585-1051. Did y' all grow up. Did you grow up with dogs?
Angela Yee
Nah, I didn't grow up with dogs, but I have dogs now.
Charlamagne Tha God
Charlamagne?
DJ Envy
A couple.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
DJ Envy
Not like that, though. I had a couple Rottweilers when I was younger. I had a bad experience. Cause somebody poisoned my dog. Somebod got tired of my damn.
Angela Yee
Damn.
DJ Envy
I had two rottweilers named Band Tara. And somebody got tired of Tara and they poisoned the neighbors. Poisoned them. I can't prove that the neighbors poisoned them, but I feel like the neighbors poisoned them.
Caller/Listener
Damn.
DJ Envy
And poor terror. No. Which one died? One of them died because they got poisoned. One of them got picked up by the dog people.
Charlamagne Tha God
Jesus Christ.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
I had shepherds all my life. My dad didn't believe in having a dog as a pet. If you had a dog, the dog need to have a job.
Caller/Listener
Oh, wow.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you gotta protect the house.
DJ Envy
That was different.
Charlamagne Tha God
We ain't got no pets here. You gotta have a job. You gonna protect this house. If not, we don't want no little do dog.
DJ Envy
No, we want a dog. I want a dog now. My wife won't let me get one.
Caller/Listener
Oh, yep.
DJ Envy
I want a South African boy.

Charlamagne Tha God
JV from Jersey City. What up? Get it off your chest, brother.
Caller/Listener
What's up, man? I want to talk about the IRS man.
Charlamagne Tha God
Okay.
DJ Envy
Hey, hey, hey. Be respectful.
Caller/Listener
Oh, I'm definitely going to be respectful.
DJ Envy
Okay.
State Farm Sponsor Voice
You.
Caller/Listener
You okay. You ready?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yep.
Caller/Listener
Okay. So what happened was I was working for a company named Towing in Jersey City, right? And what happened? Stop taking my taxes from me. They started pocketing my money every week for five years. So when I went to the IRS, IRS told me that I owe them 28, 000.
DJ Envy
Dang.
Caller/Listener
And I said. And I said. And I said, why? Why do I owe 28? They said, because you wasn't paying your tax. So I said, how? They turned the screen around. They said, you ain't paid since 2020.
DJ Envy
What you want us to say, sir? I don't know what you wanted to tell you. Yeah, if they're paying people their money,
Charlamagne Tha God
if the company was. Was doing that, you should. You should. You should look at suing the company. Because if they would, if they took the taxes still out your check and they kept it and didn't give it to the irs and you could prove that, that. That's not. That's not your problem. That's their problem.
DJ Envy
Well, there's always two sides to a story. And. And when it comes to the irs, I tend to believe their side, but
Charlamagne Tha God
IRS is one of their money. They don't care who gonna give it to.
Caller/Listener
That's what. I've been working for that company to 2012. And I see every last pay stuff from 2012. And I did show that. And guess what happened?
Charlamagne Tha God
What?
Caller/Listener
Nothing. They said, okay, we. We even. You don't owe us. And. And that's it. And so what I did was I went to a lawyer. Now I got a lawyer on him to try to get my money back. And at the end of the day, you gotta wait.
DJ Envy
So you don't. You don't. You don't owe the IRS anymore?
Caller/Listener
No, I don't own them all, but they 30. Because if I was Wesley Stank, you know what I'm saying, they would lock me up.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, it's totally two different situations to My knowledge. I don't think Wesley Snipes wanted to pay them and was going to pay them. Your situation is your business was paying the IRS and just stopped paying the irs, and they were still taking that money out your check. It's totally two different things.
Caller/Listener
Definitely. Well, guess. Well, guess what?
DJ Envy
What?
Caller/Listener
I'm gonna get mine. And I'm gonna tell you guys something, too. If you come to Jersey City, you can park in shop, right? Or wherever you parking for like two seconds. They're gonna take your car. And guess what? They hiring people from off the street. They pick your car up, break your axes and all that. So don't, don't, you know, don't leave the car outside. They hiring Fresh Wookie Street.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, brother.
DJ Envy
Have a good day, bro. Yes, sir.
Caller/Listener
Charlemagne.
DJ Envy
Yes, sir.
Caller/Listener
Hey, man. Respect to you, man, because, you know, I'm old, just like you. You know that's right. How old do you. How old do you cut your hair?
DJ Envy
I try. No, no, no. I do, like twice a week. I do at the top of the week, and then at the. At the end of the week.
Caller/Listener
Oh, yeah. Cause, you know, once that head start throwing in all those spots.
DJ Envy
Come in, man.
Caller/Listener
Cuz.
DJ Envy
Cause you know my. You know what I always be thinking about? I'll be like, damn, yo. You know, what if I get locked up for something silly, you know? You know, just anything like driving, even though my license and everything is good, but just. I just be thinking that. And then that mug shot come out and they see you without a haircut, you look like Rocco. Oh, my God.
Caller/Listener
You'll get you OG Bobby Johnson for whatever.
DJ Envy
Lord have mercy.

This past weekend, like every other Sunday, you were on the court with the guys playing ball. Just a pickup game, living out your hoop dreams. No triple doubles, but a mean set of threes in between buckets. One of the homies mentions he closed on a new crib. This is big. And while everyone's asking about the housewarming and making plans to celebrate, you're asking the real questions. Like, has he spoke to his State Farm agent yet about coverage? See, home ownership is one thing, but the right coverage is the real game changer. Even more than your last hot streak is how you protect your legacy. Dropping buckets and bars on the court. A State Farm agent can more than assist you with finding the right coverage for your new place. If you have a claim, your local agent can help you file it. Yep, that's right. Over the phone, in person, online, or on the app, they're ready to help you and they don't drop the ball, if you know what I mean. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

I'm not even gonna lie. For the longest time, I was doing my hair completely wrong. I had to unlearn a lot. I had to stop treating my textured hair like it needed to be tamed or controlled and start understanding what it actually needed. Moisture, nourishment and products that could really penetrate my strands. That's really what led me to Baskin Lather. What I love is is that their products are actually made for textured hair. I've been using a stimulating scalp and hair bomb and I noticed right away how nourishing it feels without being heavy or greasy. It actually absorbs into my scalp instead of sitting there. And over time, I've seen less breakage and more strengthening in my hair. And the fact that it's made with 100% natural ingredients and doesn't clog your pores, that matters. Especially if your scalp is sensitive like mine. I've also been loving their hydrating hair mist. That's been a go to for keeping my hair soft throughout the week, especially when I have protective styles. My hair's biggest issues have always been dryness and breakage. So seeing my hair feel more hydrated, stronger, and actually retaining length. Oh baby, that's huge for me. I'm so happy that I found Baskin Leather and I want to hook you up. It's DJ Emmy from the Breakfast Club. Now you know me and my wife, married 24 years and together over 30. And yes, we still speak on the phone every day. I mean, the early days, I didn't have a cell phone. I couldn't afford a cell phone. And the cell phones were like the size of a, a man's purse. But anyway, I love speaking to my wife over the phone. People say we talk too much, but that's my best friend. Why shouldn't we be able to talk all the time? All day long? 24, 7. But did you know that 2026 will mark the 150th anniversary of the first ever phone call. It took place March 10, 1876. And that call sparked it all. For the first long distance phone lines, the first lines across America, the first line across the Atlantic, the first, the first round the world called, the first commercial cell Service, the first 911 system. AT&T has been connecting people for 150 years in so many different ways. Thank God we have cell phones. I can connect to my moms, my pops, and my whole family. Thank you. AT&T.
Caller/Listener
Connecting changes everything.
DJ Envy

Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning. Morning everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlamagne, the guy. We are the Breakfast Club nephew. Just joining us, we're asking 800-585-1051, what are some hustles you did as a kid that kids these days don't do? Now this came from, of course, we got a little blizzard and I ain't see too many kids out there shoveling snow.
DJ Envy
I'm telling you.
Angela Yee
Why, where y', all, Y' all kids ain't shoveling no snow. You got four of them, you got
DJ Envy
six, got four daughters.
Charlamagne Tha God
My four daughters ain't shoveling.
DJ Envy
My four daughters ain't shoveling no snow.
Charlamagne Tha God
And Logan and them ain't shoveling. Logan ain't doing.
DJ Envy
Logan should be out there shoveling snow. His big D's the last day he
Angela Yee
in Miami, he ain't got no damn snow.
DJ Envy
But I, I really was thinking about that yesterday because I'm like, man, this is a, this is a, a day to come up. It was like 16, 17 inches of snow. But we live at, in, in New Jersey, New York City areas like, yo, go out there, get a shovel and these kids, you can get the electric shovel that when you hit the snow, it just, yeah, damn near disappears. You can go get, you know, snow blowers for the cheap. There's all type of ways that you can go out Here and make some money. I don't know why these kids ain't out here getting it. And by the way, y' all want to complain about, you know, you know, people from other countries taking jobs, then Mexicans was on it. They pulled up. Now, I got scared when they pulled up. Why did you get scared, Cuz? I don't know. Like, I'm like, you know, y' all pull up, then ice come follows. But clearly they. Clearly they were legal. But they pulled up in the plow trucks, and they had the shovels, and they got busy.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
DJ Envy
And they. I was like, damn, I ain't. You know.
Angela Yee
And they made some bread.
DJ Envy
They made some bread. That's right.
Charlamagne Tha God
But. But one of the things I would do as a kid, especially when my grandmother went to the grocery store and went shopping, I would help people carry their groceries to the car. Yeah, that would pay me a lot of money. That would give me $5 here, $4 here, $10 here.
Angela Yee
Helping people pump gas, all of that.
DJ Envy
I'll tell y' all one what. Collecting cans. See?
Angela Yee
Oh, yeah.
DJ Envy
I was raised on the dirt road in Moss Corner, South Carolina. We walk up and down that dirt road, picking up them aluminum cans, putting them in a plastic bag, and taking them, you know, wherever you took them.
Charlamagne Tha God
I ain't go that far. I didn't go to the trash cans and go through the trash cans, pick up the.
DJ Envy
Where'd you get cans from?
Charlamagne Tha God
Like, I would just. If I went to school, I went grandma's house, mom's house, but I wasn't going to the garbage. You went in the garbage can to get cans?
DJ Envy
I just said we was walking down the dirt road and we would find
Angela Yee
just collecting cans just on the ground,
DJ Envy
all the cans of Budweiser and cores and all of that. I tell you, another hustle. People ain't doing no more selling crack.
Charlamagne Tha God
What I'm telling you.
Angela Yee
And look, I was raised. They boosting. He went to drugs. I was talking about stealing.
DJ Envy
Crack cocaine is still sold in a lot of parts of America, but it's not the booming business it once was. You got. You got heroin, you got meth, you got cocaine. Those big drugs now.
Angela Yee
But the crack is not like it used to be, because the crackheads changed. When you can see the. The crackhead behavior these days, it doesn't compare to. We used to have some really, really good crackheads out here. And the drugs changed. That's why the behavior changed.
DJ Envy
You know what else you could get a crackhead to do? Shovel.
Angela Yee
Shovel the damn snow. These crackheads Is lazy.
Caller/Listener
They.
Angela Yee
They're very entitled these days.
DJ Envy
No, because they not on crack. They on these pills. And these pills just make them zombies. Yeah, them opioids and that heroin, they just.
Angela Yee
No, you right. You right.
Charlamagne Tha God
The water boys, you see them in Atlanta.
DJ Envy
Water boys.
Angela Yee
Candy. Candy.
Charlamagne Tha God
Flipping candy as well, too.
Angela Yee
It's clean and trash.
DJ Envy
Y' all kids just don't know how to hustle no more. Because all y' all hustlers on social media, y' all too busy trying to get likes and engagement.
Angela Yee
And then social media make you make it seem like anything like that is corny. Like, they don't. They don't want you to do that. Now. That's not cool to do now.
State Farm Sponsor Voice
Hello?
Charlamagne Tha God
Who's this?
Caller/Listener
Hello, my name is Joy, and I'm calling from Houston.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, Joy. Good morning.
Lauren LaRosa
Talk to us.
Charlamagne Tha God
What's some hustles you did as a kid that these kids don't do anymore?
Caller/Listener
As a kid, I remember going to school to sell candy. We used to sell whatever it is we need to sell just to make a little bit money. But just yesterday, though, my daughter watching TikTok came up with this cheesecake recipe, and she sent me everything she needed. And today she made little packages of those cheesecakes. Dairy no bake. And she sent it in the school to sell.
DJ Envy
Oh, that's dope. I like that.
Caller/Listener
Oh, yeah, she made her some Oreo cheesecake last night. She made some discount with the strawberry, and she has about 10 of each. This morning, I'm like, you know, that's a little. Just yesterday, actually, she posted on Instagram and made some sales before she would take it to school this morning.
Angela Yee
Yeah. Selling baked goods. Yeah, people used to do that, too.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know what? My daughters did these beads, right? They did these wrist beads, and I brought them up here to try to sell a Charlotte. Charlotte. They wouldn't even buy one.
Angela Yee
The little bracelets.
Caller/Listener
Yes.
Angela Yee
Really? You could have bought some for your daughters.
Charlamagne Tha God
He told me they're too privileged or something like that.
Angela Yee
Oh, my God.
DJ Envy
Yeah. I would rather spend some money with some kids that need it.
Angela Yee
Right?
Lauren LaRosa
Yeah.
Angela Yee
Yeah, that's true.
DJ Envy
Somebody got on some red bottom boots with wings.
Caller/Listener
Literally.
Angela Yee
Literally, yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
He would even buy some beads.
DJ Envy
My dog.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's all right.
Angela Yee
Hello?
Charlamagne Tha God
Who's this?
Caller/Listener
Top of the morning. It's d'. Angelo. How y' all doing this morning?
Charlamagne Tha God
What's up, d'? Angelo? Talk. What some hustles you did as a
Caller/Listener
kid that you know, you talking about them accidents, dealing with that snow.
DJ Envy
Man, I ain't got no fingers.
Caller/Listener
On my hand being told to go outside and get that snow removed in a snowblower. Been dealing with no fingers on my hand for 40 years, though.
DJ Envy
Damn, you ain't got no fingers, man.
Caller/Listener
No fingers, man. The One Hand Bandit.
You know what I mean?
Angela Yee
How you call us? Oh, I thought he was saying he don't have no fingers.
Caller/Listener
Oh, oh, Jess, you got jokes, your boy.
Angela Yee
Nah, nah, man. I just thought that's one of them. I know you ain't laughing. Nah, yo, nah, please
Caller/Listener
listen, don't do that. For real though, be careful in that snow.
Holler.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you're just joining us, we're talking about some of the hustles you did as a kid that these kids don't do. Like I reported a little a couple of minutes ago about people having heart attacks shoveling snow.
DJ Envy
I don't know why you keep telling that statistic. It does.
Charlamagne Tha God
It happens.
Angela Yee
It. That was one 67 year old man envy who died mid shovel.
Charlamagne Tha God
But he had to when they finally had to shovel in his hand.
Angela Yee
I know.
DJ Envy
I mean, shoveling slow is strenuous. I was out there yesterday and I'm like, God damn, man, anybody got time for this? I did. I did make two good paths, though.
Angela Yee
That's good.
DJ Envy
I made two good paths which are
Angela Yee
covered right now, probably.
DJ Envy
No, well, actually, the Mexicans came through and finished the job.
Angela Yee
Oh, nice.
DJ Envy
So salute to them. But once again, they out here getting the money that these kids in these neighborhoods should be getting. But these kids are too busy on social media and these kids are too busy, you know, trying to make a dollar virtually that they don't know how to pick up a shovel or go get a snowblower or go get the electric shovel and go out here and make some money.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, there was. It was so many things to do as a kid. We talked about washing cars, we talked about if kids could swim, they would be lifeguards flipping candy, selling crack.
DJ Envy
See, you keep boots cutting grass. You said cutting grass, right? Cutting grass, mowing lawns, collecting cans.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello?
Caller/Listener
Who's this? Hey, what's up, rich club? What's up, y'? All?
Boy?
This is Lamar calling from Charleston, South Carolina, 843.
What's happening?
Charlamagne Tha God
What's up, brother? Talk to us, man.
Caller/Listener
I just want to say, man, these kids nowadays, somebody ain't like us.
Some boy, lazy.
I used to. We used to meet my homeboy, matter of fact, we used to go around the neighborhood knocking door to door, cutting grass. Yeah, you can leave and all that. You know, the more nowadays, all they want to do is stay in the house. You got to force them boy to
get out the house.
Somebody like how we were growing up. So yeah, man, that's all I want to see.
DJ Envy
And it's a lack of respect for elders, right? And what I mean by that is sometimes we don't even see our elders because those are the ones who actually need help. When you talk about rigging people's leaves, you talk about cutting people's grass, Even simple things like, you know, taking somebody's trash out maybe. Yeah, it's usually older people who need that done. But because you don't see the older people in your neighborhood, you don't even know where to go.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, but that was the thing that was big for us. The grocery store was huge. Like, we go to the grocery store, sit down there for a couple hours. It just helped people get their groceries to the cars. And we didn't really, we didn't care at that time. We got a dollar, two dollars. It didn't really matter. They just gave us a little bit of, you know, whatever they had in their pocket.
DJ Envy
And you know the biggest thing that we forgetting why a lot of this stuff is stopped? The lack of trust. You can't just walk up to somebody's door and knock on it and ask to help because people aren't going to believe you're really there to help. Imagine walking up to somebody in the grocery store and be like, hey, yo, you need help with them bags? Like if you don't get the.
Angela Yee
No, I'm not even coming out the market now. I don't even know what you got planned.
Charlamagne Tha God
But if it was. Yeah, you're right, you're right, you're right. Because even if a young coming to me, I'm like, hey, man, if you don't get out of here, cuz I don't think you want to take him and run. But as a kid, that's, that's what we did.
Angela Yee
And even when you pull up to the stop lights and the kids that be trying to wash your windows and you ain't ask them to, they get mad and throw something at your car when you don't pay them for cleaning your windows.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hello?
DJ Envy
Who's this? Good morning. Good morning.
Caller/Listener
It's TR Man.
Charlamagne Tha God
What's up? Good morning to us.
Caller/Listener
Hey, Peace and blessing. God is almighty.
Charlamagne Tha God
Peace.
Caller/Listener
Hey, real quick. I remember growing up, man, I used to go to neighbors e store. Ask the lady or the old head, man, can I take the trash out? $2. Give me five. $10, man. By the end of the Week. I have enough to go get me a video game, man.
Angela Yee
Nice.
Caller/Listener
Nostalgia, man. Well, thank you.
DJ Envy
That's true.
Angela Yee
Yo, what about burning CDs? I made a living stealing and burning CDs.
Charlamagne Tha God
So he's bootlegging?
Angela Yee
Yes, bootlegging and boosting. That's why they used to call me Boo Boo.
Charlamagne Tha God
You show crack and then you like. I. I think you meant legal. Like legal.
Angela Yee
Yeah. No, no, no. But drugs is way worse than stealing. No, for real, cuz somebody can die, Right?
DJ Envy
What about temp services? Remember temp services? Y' all never used to go to temp services where you would go and, like, they would have, like, work for the day. They'll send you places.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
DJ Envy
They'll send you somewhere to go have work.
Charlamagne Tha God
You have to go somewhere every day. And every day would be a different job. You have to go. One day it might be cleaning up stuff at the park.
Angela Yee
Oh, like the little temp agencies? Yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah. No, I never did that.
Caller/Listener
Hello?
Charlamagne Tha God
Who's this?
Caller/Listener
My name is Jonathan. I'm from Florida.
Charlamagne Tha God
What are some hustles you did as a kid that these kids don't do anymore?
Caller/Listener
The first thing is a couple of them. But the first thing I'm gonna say is shoveling snow. When I used to live up north, when I used to live in Philly, it ain't nobody out there stepping on stuff. These kids don't got no hustle in them because they want to sit around and play video games all day every time they get a day off.
Angela Yee
You're right.
Caller/Listener
They all. We organized football games. We got out in these streets.
DJ Envy
That's right. Yeah, right.
Caller/Listener
Like, it was fun. From the morning from. From the time that. From the time we did. To go out the house at the end of the day, it was fun. But real quick, I wanted to shout out my wife business. That's cool.
Charlamagne Tha God
Go ahead.
Caller/Listener
All right. It's called www. The website is www.com. pedals is spelled P E T ALZ. Once again, it's www.com. she sell custom foam grips. She make them all by hand. She ship them out from down here in Florida to anywhere in the world. She's been selling them for about a year now. Business has been going great, but I just wanted to shout them out this morning. I appreciate everything y' all do. Definitely. Let me get on this phone call. Shout her out.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, brother.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
I mean, my biggest probably job was telemarketing. I did telemarketing. I worked at the US Open.
DJ Envy
I definitely worked, and I definitely did telemarketing. I was the person that would call your house and try to sell you 20 CDs for a penny or 10 CDs for a penny?
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah, I was trying to sell you home heating oil. Hi, this is Sean from Pelco Fuel. How are you doing today?
Angela Yee
Yo? I used to do the knives. Like, remember them little companies that. That. That they would. They would have you selling knives, like, in groups. Yes. I never sold any, but I literally was doing that for, like, two years.
Charlamagne Tha God
Really? And it would teach you how to listen, though, because I would listen to background. I'll hear a baby. I'd be like, oh, is that a baby in the background? Would you like to save money on this College coming out?
DJ Envy
18 years.
Charlamagne Tha God
If you start saving right now and I can help you like that, that's
DJ Envy
what double I hear. Do you want to die of a heart attack because you're shoveling snow? You know, listen, you know what else? I. I do want to say something to these kids, though. These kids do have new hustles.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes.
DJ Envy
So, like, you might have a kid that, like, that'll make candles. You know what I'm saying? Like, these kids do different things that may not necessarily be the. The blue collar work we used to do, but some of them is out here, you know, creative, being creative with their husband.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yes, absolutely.
Angela Yee
No, that's true. But you're not gonna tell me you didn't burn CDs.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, I didn't burn CDs.
Angela Yee
You lime wire? Come on.
Charlamagne Tha God
No, I was a DJ. I made my own CDs.
DJ Envy
Oh, I definitely mixtapes. I definitely did that. Salute to my guy, DJ Chuck T. Man, DJ Chuck T had like 20 CD burners. And Chuck T used to make so much money selling CDs. I'm like, I want in on that. So I do the same thing. I had every mixtape. The G, the G units, the big mics, the who kids, all of them. D block dipset. Yes, we made a lot of money off selling mixtapes back in the day. Speak to my guy, DJ Chter. The crack, sir.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, after crack.
DJ Envy
Yes.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning. Morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne the Guy. We are the Breakfast Club. Lon Larose is here as well. We got a special guest in the building.
DJ Envy
Guy Code alumni. I. I affectionately call him Council. Council because of our days on Guy Court. Jordan Carlos is here.
Jordan Carlos
Good to be here, Sean.
Angela Yee
Good morning.
Jordan Carlos
Right there. It's right there.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
I love the name of the book.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, I do too.
Jordan Carlos
Oh, thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Lauren LaRosa
I thought it was genius for what the book is actually about.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Jordan Carlos
Oh, my God.
DJ Envy
Torah played a marriage saving magic of getting your head out your ass.
Jordan Carlos
Yeah, firmly out your ass. Squarely at your ass. This will save my marriage. And it's funny because, I don't know, I mean, like, this is. This, this is a very. Like, it's challenging for men. But I'm going to tell you what I found out was the bar is in hell for men when it comes to just like cleaning up around the house and we trip over it all the time. So I thought, I mean, I'm not telling anybody how to live, but I'm just telling people, like, have you considered this? I'm not an expert or anything like that. I'm just a veteran of the wars out here and I'm lucky to be married still. And I just want to share that information with everyone.
DJ Envy
You said your own book saved your marriage.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
Jordan Carlos
For real. Like. Like that's what it did. It's. I mean, it's crazy when I. When I sat down, because writing a book, as you know, as, you know, like, takes deep meditative thought and you really self reflect and you see yourself in the mirror and there's no getting away from it. So that's what it. That's what it really was. It just. Oh, man, I had to think deeply. I looked up, like, invisible work. Let me just mansplain invisible work to y' all real quick. I'm just kidding. But, like, people don't know what it is. It's that work that my mom put in, that my grandmother put in, like, taking care. My mom taking care of my grandmother while she held down a job. And, you know, like, my dad, great guy, but didn't contribute in the ways that he maybe could have and stepped up. And that's. I mean, that kind of thing, like learning about that learning about executive function and what women go through all the time was so like, my eyes are open.
DJ Envy
Women are better cleaners than men.
Jordan Carlos
Okay,
Lauren LaRosa
so much. But I clean. But my brother is so much more organized.
Jordan Carlos
He read the whole book and that's. Yes, you take it.
Lauren LaRosa
That's. That's exactly that. One thing you can never conquer is men's like, the brains and how small they be.
Jordan Carlos
So true.
Lauren LaRosa
He's a perfect example of it. He read the whole book, I'm sure, front to back. And look, he gonna still cry.
DJ Envy
I'm not saying that we shouldn't participate. I'm just saying women are better clean.
Jordan Carlos
Well, they. They are left to do these things. They're left to do these things, right? So, I mean, for instance, like, when I have Thanksgiving back in Texas, like, I noticed my baby cousins, the male ones, do not have to wash the dishes, but the teenage girls, they're like, okay, baby, let's go to work now, you know, and it's like, the boys are always. The game is on, right? So it's like hunting.
DJ Envy
Did they hunt the food?
Jordan Carlos
They didn't go shopping. Those teenage boys did not go shopping at all.
Lauren LaRosa
They use Instacart now, so you ain't having to carry the groceries.
Jordan Carlos
Yes, I use Instacart. There's no better time to be a slob than right now because technology is caught up with you.
Angela Yee
I'm sorry, but no, no, you're fine. But no, that. That's not all men, though. Because my dad, when I grew up, I grew up in a house. My dad was the one who cleaned. My mom cooked. She did. You know, they both made the home. You know, my dad ocd, like, anything out of place, he fixing it. He's like, wiping down countertops, you know, so that doesn't go for, you know, all men.
Jordan Carlos
It does not. It does not. No.
Angela Yee
I heard you say that this book saved your marriage.
Caller/Listener
Were you.
Angela Yee
Was she on the way out the door? Like you were about to lose her?
DJ Envy
Because you also.
Angela Yee
It's also like a testament to knowing what you got before it's gone.
Jordan Carlos
Yes, yes. Before you lose it. I mean, this is what happened, right? So Covid happened. We were busy before COVID Before COVID Geico was popping. Everything was going on, and then everything stopped. And when the tide goes out, you see the rocks, right? And that's. That's what happened. I was at home. I was not working, but I also was a stranger in my own house because I was not contributing. I was mad that I wasn't working. And. And that was like. I was, like, given into, like, man child vibes and things like that. And my. My wife was no longer having it, right. Because I was not contributing to the household. And so, like, with that said, I. There was also another divorce that happened in our family, and I was like front row tick, like front row seats to that. And I did not want that at all. And it was not because of infidelity as I wrote in the book. It's because, I mean, studies show that it's commitment. So it was like he wasn't doing anything. And if you're just like an overage child, you're going to get Kicked out of the nest. And that's what happened to him. And I was like, I don't want that at all. What can I do? I was listening to. So it's like there was nothing dramatic, you know? And that's what really kills a lot of marriages. It's like. It's nothing dramatic. It's just. It's just this kind of meh situation.
DJ Envy
A woman complaining that you're staying in the house and doing nothing during COVID is so selfish.
Jordan Carlos
What are you talking about? You brought me up. You brought me here in good faith, bro. You making us look bad, let me tell you.
DJ Envy
Yeah, yeah.
Jordan Carlos
Let me counsel. Counsel. Let me cover his mic. No, I'm just saying this. It's. I mean, it was. Yes, in part, it was Covid, but at the same time, I could have translated that into helping out. I was watching my wife pick up laundry, take it upstairs, take it downstairs. Watching her do the dishes and everything like that, you know, watching her take care of the dog and dusting the corners. Watching, watching, and just, like, doing nothing. And after a while, that repetition erodes the integrity of a relationship, man. Like, little by little did it. Yeah.
Angela Yee
Were you emotionally disconnected? Mentally disconnected? Like, how could you just, you know, watch her do that? Like, we're going through your own funk of not working, and you were just, like, in a miserable state where you couldn't even help yourself, so how could you help her?
Jordan Carlos
Right? I think I was. I was definitely there, but I was also. I stay on ready mode. And that's. That's something I write about in the book is, like, guys are always, like. We're always. We have, like, John Wick fantasies. I'm ready to fight. If she asked me to take the trash out, I'll do it. No problem. It's nothing.
DJ Envy
Yeah, that's us. That's us.
Caller/Listener
Yeah.
Jordan Carlos
Yeah, that's us.
DJ Envy
But.
Jordan Carlos
But. But to be reminded of the thing. I was always being reminded of the thing. So I started reminding myself. It was just a small switch. I saw that divorce. I said, this is what the guy was not doing and not bringing to the table. I was like, okay, let me flip this. And just. I know when trash night is. It's Tuesday night. So let me just go do it. You know, like, bring the receptacles back on Wednesday morning. Like, that's. I knew to do that because I've seen her do it, so just do it. And, like, I cannot tell you, like, there's that Maslow's pyramid of needs, right? And, like, the basic. Basic Needs are taken care of, and then you can get to self actualization. But if your basic needs aren't taken care of, then you can't feel safe. Right? So that's what I was, like. I was ignoring that about her. So when, like. I mean, another part of the book is smashing. So, William, I'm sorry to look at you during that. Why did I do that? So anyway, smashing's a big part of the book, but, like. But. But she wasn't. She wasn't down to clown as much when the house wasn't in order, right? So I was looking at that, studying that, and that's. People need safety. They need security. Deep down, it's that caveman part of you. And so when that happened, it was
Angela Yee
like to get in the mood.
Jordan Carlos
To get in the mood.
Angela Yee
I was just like.
Jordan Carlos
I mean, I was trying.
DJ Envy
He can't say smack. He can't say having. Well, he can't say everything.
Jordan Carlos
We make love. But, like, I got you. I'm messing. I'm messing. I'm messing up.
Lauren LaRosa
Fumbling over your words.
DJ Envy
This nerd.
Jordan Carlos
All right, so the book is really good, though, man.
DJ Envy
And I. I just. I just don't want you to be too hard on yourself. Like, when you talk about how you used to see her cleaning and, you know, you felt like you didn't help, it's like, yo, if. When you saw Leonardo da Vinci doing the Mona Lisa, where you say, hey, let me get a brushing. No, you would let the. Let a master do work. No, it's the same thing.
Jordan Carlos
Hold on. You saying let her cook if she's doing what she's doing. Charlemagne you. But how are you. Okay, but you married, too. This is wild. All right, so I feel like. Thank you. Charlamagne. That's. That's called. I mean, that is called, like, when you. When you pretend to be incompetent at something, right? So it's like Tom Sawyer, right? Like, I can't. I can't do that. I can't let her whitewash the fence. I got to jump in there if I know what I'm doing. Because what's cute in your 20s is not cute in your 40s. Like, I watch football every Sunday. I watch my cowboys for no good reason every Sunday. And she was fine with that in my 20s, but then in my 40s, she's like, why don't you take the kids to this or that? You know, they got practice.
DJ Envy
No, no.
Jordan Carlos
What happened?
DJ Envy
You know, I'm a cowboy fan, too. They got to give us the cowboy game now. Come now, Jordan. This is a bit crazy. Yo, the game launch.
Angela Yee
I know. He like, why am I coming?
DJ Envy
So I did all my chores all during the week. I did everything I'm supposed to do during the week, and I can't watch the game. I'm so sorry.
Jordan Carlos
I don't want to sound.
DJ Envy
Come on.
Jordan Carlos
I don't want to sound like Stephen A. But, like, what have the Cowboys done for you lately? The Cowboys. What have the Cowboys done for you lately? I mean, I'm talking. Okay, we can leave the Cowboys out. Like, a Jets fan should be out with his family in the fall. They should be picking apples and going on hikes and canoeing. What are you doing at MetLife?

March is a month where we stop hitting reset and start making moves that actually count. This is when resolutions either fade or turn into real results. That's why I'm partnering up with Shopify to help all of our small business owners out there making them happen. If you're ready to bet on yourself this year, Shopify makes that first step so simple. Already have a business Shopify can handle it all. That's why I move my store over there. Whether you're selling just a few products or a full catalog, Shopify manages everything and grows with your business. 1 Login, access to everything that matters, thousands of site templates. You don't need to be a designer, and your site still feels like it's completely yours. Like, it is amazing. I designed my site probably in about an hour, and I'm not a girl that does like all the coding and all the things. I just know what I like. They even have Shopify Sidekick now. This is AI that actually works. It helps you with marketing, forecasting, and all of the business tools that you'll need. And now they'll even help you sell directly through ChatGPT and social media, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, you name it. Starting a business is hard, but trust me, it is worth it. March is your momentum month, and Shopify will help you turn ideas into growth without losing speed. It's time for you to start to invest in your business, not someone else's. For a change, head on over to shopify.com ben and see what it feels like to be the one in control of your future. Hey, y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. Okay, let's talk curls for a second. Because you already know if you have curly or coily hair, moisture is not optional, it's essential. Dryness is one of the biggest challenges for curly hair, and most products, they clock out after wash day. The new Ultra Moisture collection was literally designed with our hair in mind. Curls, coils, all of it powered by botano oil and Jamaican Black castor oil. Which means the science is actually doing the work. Clinically proven to help retain moisture for up to five days. Five whole days. The shampoo gently cleanses without stripping. The mask deeply, conditions, and helps reduce breakage. The leave in adds a lightweight hydration with hyaluronic acid. And the curl cream defines without crunch. No sulfates, no parabens, no silicones, no mineral oils. Just nourishment without the compromise. Because here's the thing. Your hair deserves products that actually understand it. Moisture that starts at the root and keeps going. Well past Sunday, that's the Ultra Moisture collection from Cantu Explore, their full line, built for every curl pattern, every hair routine. Available now at Walmart, Target, and Amazon. Go get it. And I know you talk about kind of like the give and takes in the book, but there are like, give and takes. It's like, all right, like, I can understand. Sunday is the day that you want for that as well. As much as you can understand cleaning the bathroom. I know you have your list in this book and you talk about cleaning just the tub out after you use it. That helps me a lot. It's give or take. So do you guys. What was your give or take in your marriage after writing this book? If you couldn't have football on Sunday, what was she willing to be like? All right, bet I'm gonna let you have that.
Jordan Carlos
And let me just say this. My situation was unique. I had to quit. Like, that was like a tourniquet. I had to. I had to fix this so I could fix a bigger thing. I'm not saying, like, everybody's got to quit watching football. You could stand to watch home games. You could stand to watch away games. Like, like, you could pick, you know, or like, just take, take, take a weekend off. That's all I'm saying. I would say that my give and take is this. I have I. A lot time for myself now because this book is about time management as well. And I. A lot time for myself. I wake up at 5am I've already been up for four hours today. So, like, you can tell I'm feeling hype. So this, that time I have for myself is mine and mine alone. I usually go to the gym, workout, whatever it is, But. But if I don't, if I. On a rest day, I'll watch like a series I haven't watched yet because I can't watch it around my kids. Maybe it's just like cursing it or something like that. So it's like I have my time to do what I want to do. I get to read. That's my hour, you know, so that's my give and take. And yeah, I mean, look, sometimes, of course, I watch Cowboys.
DJ Envy
What do you have to do to earn your hour?
Jordan Carlos
It's about.
DJ Envy
But I feel like you have a techno feudalist household. How much work do you have to put in your hour?
Jordan Carlos
It's a vibe. It's a vibe. It's a vibe. It's a vibe. It's a vibe. We don't. That's what the book's about too. It's a vibe. I mean, I. I like a lot of books out there that tell you what to do. I was inspired by Eve Rotsky's Fair Play, right? But I was like, that's too rigid. That's too rigid. And at the end of the book, I'll just point this out and say, at the end of that book, she's like, all right, ladies, now get out there and save your marriage. And I was like, damn, this wasn't even written for me. This is written for somebody else. So what's.
DJ Envy
What.
Jordan Carlos
What would a male do, right? I'm like, I'm gonna change my vibe. That's what I'm gonna do. Okay? So I. I can't have. I don't get by with charts on the wall and things like that and gold stars, because that's for somebody else's approval. What's my approval matrix? What do I believe in? What's my standard? So that's kind of where it is for me. Like, she. I mean, like, I could watch football if I wanted to, but I'm like, I want to take my kid to Governor's Island. I want to go hiking one Sunday. I don't want to give it a. More money to Jerry Jones. Like, Jerry's fine. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, you know, he's fine. What am I doing for me, you know? So that's. That's really what it is. It's like, yeah.
Angela Yee
How long did it take you to save your marriage? You said it saved your marriage. But, like, how. What was that process like, and how long was it?
Jordan Carlos
To be honest, I would say, like, it took about six months to write things, right? So there was this guy that was famous in the moms group in Brooklyn. His. So he's Canadian, so it's suspect anyway, but he's. So that's why. But we learned a lot from Canadian universal healthcare, you know, all that kind of stuff. So anyway, he. He was famous among the moms. They're like, oh, he. He was a good guy, Hugh. Oh, he was the best. Like, he makes coffee every morning for his wife. Makes coffee.
Charlamagne Tha God
That's it.
Jordan Carlos
One cup. That's it. So I asked him, like, what do you do? You grind the beans? Do you make, like a latte? Cappuccino, whatever the foam designs. He's like, man, Folgers Crystals. Folgers Crystals. And that's it. The bar is in hell, right? So for that, the man is famous. So I was like, I'm gonna do the same thing. So I did that. Slow hanging fruit. I did the same thing. It was hard to wake up in the morning before my wife, But I did it, and I kept doing it. I did it like, one day, three days, seven days. I do it like, this is the only morning I couldn't do it.
DJ Envy
It took a man from Canada to tell you that. The best part of waking up is full. Jordan, what is going on? A man from Canada after Ted to come tell you that about.
Jordan Carlos
Yeah, yeah. For real. I mean, he showed me. He gave me the, like, Prometheus fire. Like, I was, like. I was in the dark about it, you know, and it was.
Caller/Listener
We.
Jordan Carlos
The guys were dwindling down in that group. We have, like a Friday kind of, like, hangout, and it was just me and him left. I was like, damn. I had to know the secret after that. I'd seen so many. We lost so many good men out here, Sean.
DJ Envy
But what did you think when you, like, Vietnam, you heard that that was the secret?
Angela Yee
Just Folgers crystals. Like. Like, even with this whole process, shocking when you think back on it, right? Things that you weren't doing versus now things that you are doing it. Do you ever say, like, damn, it really wasn't that hard all this time, and I don't know, did you ever think also, like, why do you guys expect extra credit for doing the bare minimum anyway?
Jordan Carlos
Because, I mean, that's. I want my ticker tape parade. You know what I'm saying? Like, I really do. Like. Like, I mean, I did the dishes before I left this morning, and I had to fight. It was like, fighting for my life not to be like, babe, did you appreciate those dishes? Was done this morning? She didn't care, you know, like. Or you got. Give yourself an attaboy. Yeah, I gamify everything. And I'm like, okay, let me see if I can get a load in before. Like, a laundry in. Before I hit the. You know, like, leave the house, go to the office, whatever it is. So it's just like, what is the vibe for you? I mean, I had to also stop being and stop wanting to be mothered, you know, like. Because that's someone getting mad at you for. For not straightening up. Feels like that's me just, like, reliving the. The dynamic I had with my mom.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Jordan Carlos
And I love my mom, you know, but I don't. But marrying somebody is not substituting your mother. You know, I'm saying it's just like, it's. It's. It's a partnership. It's. Yeah. So nurturing for you. Yeah, absolutely. But just like, how do you nurture yourself? What do you want? Do you see yourself? You know, like, for instance, like, I had to get a fade yesterday, but I. I did it. Not my wife always being like, you're woofing, like, you need your edges. You're this and that, you know, like. Like, stop. What do you want. You know, when it. You know, when it's time to do something?
Angela Yee
And do you feel like that came from your father not contributing as much or not being around? Oh, was he?
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
How do you know?
DJ Envy
He did.
Jordan Carlos
My dad. My dad. My dad. My dad actually was not around.
Angela Yee
Okay?
Jordan Carlos
He was. He's a doctor. He's at the hospital all the time. So it's actually, like, a positive reason. You know what I'm saying? So. But he was taking care of women for so long and, like, as an OB gyn, and it's crazy. He was also, like, instrumental Planned Parenthood in Dallas Fort Worth, where I'm from. And then he come home, and it's like, you can be an ally in the streets, but not in the sheets. You know? Like, my dad would just be watching ESPN2, watching boxing, and just, like, having a state and, like, not giving a damn about what the state of the house was.
Angela Yee
So he was Hincliffe House, Heathcliff Huxtable. Outside the house.
Jordan Carlos
Yes. Yes. Well, we could pick another doctor. I got you.
DJ Envy
I got you.
Jordan Carlos
Jess. I was like, jess. I knew it. I knew Jess was shooting at me.
Caller/Listener
No.
Jordan Carlos
Okay, okay.
DJ Envy
I don't think that's fair to your father. Jordan. This man is in Dallas, Texas, taking care of vaginas all over Dallas. And he comes home and just wants to relax for a second, and he's getting flack about not taking out the trash for a second.
Jordan Carlos
No, no, no, no, no. I'm just saying I love my dad. He's the most generous guy out there. But, like, that's what was modeled for me. Like, you could have what. What I detail in the book as a greedy job. And a greedy job is just a job that eats up your time. It's not about money. So my dad had a greedy job as a doctor.
DJ Envy
He was a public servant. He's a doctor. God or danger? Father.
Jordan Carlos
We love my dad. Joseph Carlos. I love you, Maryland. I love you. No, no, no, no. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that you. You become what you behold. So I'm. I'm. That was modeled for me. So that's. That's what I did. And. And it was repeated. And my wife is a professor, too, and she holds down her job and does all these things, but I was still like, just like, okay, what did dad do? That was it. That's. Yeah. So, yeah.
DJ Envy
If somebody read show play and only applied one habit.
Jordan Carlos
One habit.
DJ Envy
What's the one small action that could, you think could change the relationship?
Jordan Carlos
Have a Plan. Just have a plan. Get. I mean, this is not an endorsement for the Resi app, but get. Get an app like that because you deserve, like your partner deserves, like, dinner plans. Whatever it is, keep that. I say keep that candle burning and make sure that you got a backup because we're so expecting, you know, her to want to do something. What about you? You got to research things. Like, like, I'm a very fun dad. I will take my kids to like, you name it, whatever. We'll go to like, let's go to Yankee Stadium. Then we'll go to. We'll go get ice cream and you know, like, we're gonna, you know, go see dolphins. You know, like that. That's me.
Charlamagne Tha God
I.
Jordan Carlos
But I just needed to divert some of that back to my wife.
DJ Envy
You said you, you said you didn't want to just be the fun dad. You want to be the responsible partner.
Jordan Carlos
Yes, yes. And, but, but my wife wanted that fun too, and I was leaving that out and playing like a game against her.
Lauren LaRosa
I saw you talk to the New York Times about this too. You were telling them that being a fun dad, almost ruining your marriage. Yesterday, I was watching Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle bath his wife on Michelle Obama's podcast, and they were having a conversation about preparing to be empty nesters and how you have to figure out being together again. Can you talk about kind of what now your dynamic is with your wife because your kids are still in the house, but you realize you gotta be with your partner.
Jordan Carlos
Absolutely. So most weekends, like, if she's not gonna go out with her girls, then we will go out together. I love that. You know, we, we look forward to, to like having a night out. Like, my mother in law lives real close to us, so we just drop off the kids.
Lauren LaRosa
Say y' all got babysitters on the day.
DJ Envy
Yeah.
Jordan Carlos
Yeah, you gotta have, you gotta have that. Yeah. But she's again, a Brooklyn get. You a Brooklyn person, you know what I'm saying? They got the connect, they got the hookup. So it's like we just, just do that and then we go out and then like during the week we try to play hooky. So like, because I write from home, work from home, and she like only she has three nights a week of, of teaching. Like during the day we can be around. So like, we'll go to like, what's the place? Bath house. Which is really great.
Caller/Listener
Yeah.
Jordan Carlos
The spa.
State Farm Sponsor Voice
Yes.
Jordan Carlos
Get lunch on a Wednesday. Don't like, because we both are home and we have. I mean, I'm very Fortunate and very blessed that I can just be like, you want to do the spot tomorrow? She's like, yeah, let's do it, you know, or get lunch or whatever it is. So you got to keep it spicy and chop it up all the time. And if you. And that's. We're preparing ourselves for. For that. I mean, like our kids are 13 and 9. So we got a couple more years.
DJ Envy
We got some time.
Jordan Carlos
It does. How old are your kids?
DJ Envy
My oldest is 17. She'll be leaving for college this fall.
Caller/Listener
Wow.
DJ Envy
But then I have a 10 year old, 7 year old and 4 year old, so, you know, it goes by fast.
Jordan Carlos
It does. It does go by so fast. It goes by real fast. But. But just keeping that spirit alive and keeping like the fun that you have for your kids, even if you divert a little bit, you know what I'm saying? For her, that's what's up. Because we just get resentments and I'm like, you don't deserve that fun. I'm gonna put it over here.
Charlamagne Tha God
You know.
Lauren LaRosa
She didn't let you watch the game?
Jordan Carlos
She let me watch the game. I mean, in peace, you know what I mean? But it was, it wasn't about like the game is. It's not that. It's just the Cowboys have. It's been a one sided relationship, abusive relationship for so long that I was like, I gotta listen, I gotta do something. I gotta get out. I gotta get out. You know, I check on them.
DJ Envy
You know, I believe in everybody doing what they're the best at.
Jordan Carlos
Yeah, okay.
Charlamagne Tha God
Yeah.
DJ Envy
Women are the best at cleaning. Women are the best.
Jordan Carlos
Oh, my God. Like, we come.
Lauren LaRosa
Let them keep going. So no roles. What you're best at.
DJ Envy
What are women are the CEOs of the house. Women, like, they hold that down.
Angela Yee
Oh, don't patronize us, please.
DJ Envy
I'm better as a worker.
Jordan Carlos
You're better as a worker. Okay. Were they not working in that. In that example, you said they were holding it down and doing it.
DJ Envy
I'm better off working for them, you know.
Shopify Sponsor Voice
Okay.
DJ Envy
Okay. So I'm there for like moral support. I'll get you the broom.
Caller/Listener
I'll go get.
DJ Envy
You know what I mean?
Caller/Listener
You.
Lauren LaRosa
I'm glad you.
DJ Envy
I will open a window. Clean in the bathroom.
Angela Yee
Supervisor of a cleaning company.
Lauren LaRosa
Like, what do you mean?
Angela Yee
You just help open.
Jordan Carlos
What are you doing?
DJ Envy
No, no, no, no.
Angela Yee
I love everything you do.
DJ Envy
She's. She, she's got it better than all of us. George how to Find the Book.
Jordan Carlos
Thank you. Thank you for your service.
Lauren LaRosa
He Mexican and black like me.
Jordan Carlos
Okay. Like Carlos. No, no, no, no. I'm African American, but I'm, like, Latin. Nope. Like, people think I'm Latin. They think I'm. I'm Latina, son. Like, that's me.
Lauren LaRosa
Thank you for your service.
Jordan Carlos
In these times, these. Okay. I'm just saying in the atmosphere, that's all I can. I mean, I'm the same way.
DJ Envy
No, chore play is good. The most important thing about chore play to me is it will help you with your emotional labor.
Jordan Carlos
Yes.
DJ Envy
You know what I mean? Yes.
Jordan Carlos
Yes. Your empathy. Emotional labor. I got very lucky. Like, my grandmother had Alzheimer's when I was a kid, so I learned what it was like to take care of somebody that maybe, like, is with respect, respectfully, you know, like, their faculties are going away. So I had. That was put on me early. So I was, like, empathetic to that.
DJ Envy
So.
Jordan Carlos
So learning that is. Is definitely. Yeah, it's a certain kind of intelligence, you know, And. And I think we need to up that. Men need to up that completely. We're always told to be cold and stoic and things like that, but you gotta. You gotta go back, way back when you had, like, you. You feel for your person, you know, you have to feel for everybody. But if you feel for your person what they're going through, even on little things. I wrote this book because I read a book about a guy that just didn't put his, like, his glass in the sink when his wife would ask him for years. And she divorced him because of that. So just like, taking in what people want from you, and if you know what makes people upset, then you know what makes them happy. And just doing that thing and putting your.
Caller/Listener
Your.
Jordan Carlos
Your arms around it instead of your head around it, I think, like, you'll be much better off, you know, Joe
DJ Envy
Play is available everywhere you get books right now. Tell them where to follow you, Jordan.
Jordan Carlos
You can follow me on Instagram. I'm one of one. My name's Jordan Carlos. Follow me there. I'm also. My website's jordancarlos comic.com. i'm on all the things the TikTok and all that. So this has been amazing. Thank you so much, y'. All. I really appreciate it. Yeah.
DJ Envy
My guy, Jordan Carlos. Chore play is out right now, man. Go pick it up. It might save your marriage. Marriage saving magic getting your head out your ass. Thank you for joining us.
Jordan Carlos
Thank you, counsel. Thank you.
DJ Envy
Oh, it's the Breakfast Club.
Jordan Carlos
It's your time to nominate a donkey of your own. Remember now that is how they choose.
Caller/Listener
Call in now.
Jordan Carlos
800-585-1051.
DJ Envy
It is the People's donkey. This is when we open up the phone lines to you, the people, and y' all can call up and give somebody the credit they deserve for being stupid. So good morning. Who's this?
Caller/Listener
This is Tashina.
DJ Envy
Hey, Tashina. Who you want to get a biggest he haw to?
Caller/Listener
I want to give the biggest he haul to Charlemagne. The go.
DJ Envy
What I do now.
Caller/Listener
Earlier this week, I was listening to the radio. I live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and I drive back and forth to take my kids to school. And he was talking about what he used chat gbt to look up. I have two 12 year old daughters in the car. Sir, would you hung up on chat. CBT is your personal business, not the world's business. That was very inappropriate. You are the only urban nation in Myrtle beach for me to listen to me get it together.
DJ Envy
Yes, ma'.
Caller/Listener
Am.
Thank you.
DJ Envy
Yes, ma'.
Caller/Listener
Am.
DJ Envy
Have a great day. Thank you very much. She not wrong. Good morning. Who's this?
Caller/Listener
Earl from Detroit.
DJ Envy
Earl, who you want to get a biggest hee haw to, sir?
Caller/Listener
To the white lady that was talking about she from Detroit using a part in word.
DJ Envy
Oh, Nicole Curtis.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, that was her name.
Yeah.
Yeah. She tried to do damage control for her career, man. That ain't gonna work. She's not from Detroit. She's from the suburbs of Detroit.
DJ Envy
A lot of people kept telling me that. A lot of people from Detroit was hitting me up saying, she not from Detroit. She from Goose Point or something like that. What it's called? Goose Point?
Caller/Listener
Gross Point, Grosse Pointe.
DJ Envy
Yes. There you go. Girls Point.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, that's. That's a suburb of Detroit. The white folks love to say they from Detroit, but they're not from Detroit, man. They from outside of Detroit.
DJ Envy
Damn. So the 31 3. The 313 ain't jacking with Nicole talking about at all, huh?
Caller/Listener
Not at all, bro. Yeah, damage control ain't working out here.
DJ Envy
Thank you for calling my brother.
Caller/Listener
Peace and love to all of y', all, man.
Angela Yee
Thank you.
DJ Envy
Good morning. Who's this?
Caller/Listener
This is Brian.
DJ Envy
Brian, who you want to get the biggest he haw to?
Caller/Listener
I gotta get a bigger piece to hi To Charlamagne, man. Like, I watch the show every day.
DJ Envy
Yes, yes, sir.
Caller/Listener
And. But Charlamagne says that donkey of the day does not discriminate.
DJ Envy
Huh?
Caller/Listener
But let's play a game.
He discriminates all the time.
Because if it's a black person, I'm Mixed, by the way, I'm black and white, but when it's a black person, hell, never want to play a game. But as soon as it's a white person, man, he'd be all for the game.
DJ Envy
Well, here's the thing. You're right. Usually when it's a black person, I don't want to play the game. But when it's a right, when it's
Caller/Listener
a. I like to play the game.
DJ Envy
Come on now, let's be fair here, because there's a difference.
Caller/Listener
I get it.
DJ Envy
I get it. Okay?
Caller/Listener
I'm a big fan, man. I just want to call it. I think y' all are amazing. What y' all do, man. Y'. All. I listen to y' all every single
DJ Envy
morning, too, so I appreciate you, brother. Where you calling from again?
Angela Yee
His white side was offended that we always play a game with that.
Caller/Listener
It was offended. It was. The white side was like, hold on,
wait a second, man.
Like, this isn't fair. You know what I mean? But I'm from Jersey.
DJ Envy
Oh, okay. Well, thank you for calling, brother.
Caller/Listener
Thank you.
DJ Envy
Yes, sir. Good morning. Who's this?
Caller/Listener
Natasha.
DJ Envy
Hey, Natasha. Who you want to get a biggest? He haw to my job. What's your job? You don't want to say the name of your job? You have to say the name of your job. Well, at least tell us what you do. What do you do? What do you do?
Caller/Listener
I work at a granite company.
DJ Envy
A granite company in West Columbia, South Carolina. Okay. 803, Metro all day. Who you want? Okay, go ahead. The floor is yours, Vince.
Caller/Listener
Oh, my gosh. Just my co workers, my office manager. Just the way they ostracize me in the office. They leave me out of everything. We talking right in front of me, in each other ears like I'm not there. And then on top of that, I'm the only black lady in the office with two other Caucasians and a Hispanic. And it's just like I'm totally ignored.
DJ Envy
Fly on the wall, make some noise.
Caller/Listener
And on top of that, I clean the bathroom every Friday. Nobody offers to help.
Real.
DJ Envy
Well, the bathroom shouldn't be like that. You should call the custodians to come clean it up. Okay?
Caller/Listener
They don't even have one.
DJ Envy
Damn. Well, that's why the bathroom's, man.
Angela Yee
What the Latino be doing just sitting there while you do that?
Caller/Listener
Basically. And just like every day, I initiate to get the trash. I think I've been there a year. Three times. They got up to help get the trash.
Angela Yee
So the Latino was in with the Caucasian people. I'm sorry, so the Latino girl is in with the latte. I mean, with the Caucasian people, like, shown.
Caller/Listener
Well, he. He. And she is the owner of the company, so I don't expect them to do too much.
Angela Yee
Oh, okay, okay.
Caller/Listener
Damn.
So. But I also deserve the donkey because I put myself in this situation. Okay.
DJ Envy
There's nobody that you can complain to? No higher up? No hr, no nothing? Like, no, no.
Caller/Listener
They got eyes. They see this, they're not that. They're not lying. They know what they're doing.
DJ Envy
Damn. Well, thank you for calling. I hope things get better.
Caller/Listener
It will. I'm doing the steps to make it better. I appreciate y'.
Jordan Carlos
All.
Caller/Listener
Love y'.
All.
Y' all do an awesome job. Make my day.
Great.
DJ Envy
Thank you very much. We appreciate you.
Caller/Listener
Y' all be blessed. Thank you.
DJ Envy
You too. Good morning. Who's this? Good morning.
Caller/Listener
This is Nikki. Good morning, Breakfast Club family.
DJ Envy
Good morning. Where you calling from?
Caller/Listener
Harlem.
DJ Envy
Hey, Nikki from Harlem, who you want to get a biggest sea haw to?
Caller/Listener
Emirates Airline.
DJ Envy
Ooh, now I love Emirates. What happened with Emirates?
Caller/Listener
So I booked a family vacation to go for spring break to Dubai because back in August, I woke up one bright and sunny Saturday morning and we're
on the purpose of World War Three.
DJ Envy
So why you mad at Emirates?
Caller/Listener
Because they won't refund me my money without penalty.
DJ Envy
Oh, that's. Now that's crazy. Yeah. Okay, now that's insane. That's insane, right?
Caller/Listener
So I want to take an 80 minute.
DJ Envy
No, they should be refunding you. They should be refunding you your money period.
Caller/Listener
Yes.
DJ Envy
Like clear and clear and delivered.
Caller/Listener
And so right now they're saying they're giving full refunds for if you're traveling 72 hours from the current date, you can get a full refund. My scheduled Travel date is April 1st.
DJ Envy
I'm looking at something right now that says, according to the Department of Transportation, passengers with flights canceled are significant significantly delayed due to war. Our airspace closes in the Middle east are entitled to full prompt refunds, even on non refundable tickets. And it says major carriers like Emirates, Qatar and etihd. What I can't. Which I can't pronounce. Are offering these along with flexible rebooking options for affected travelers. So I don't know why they doing you like that.
Caller/Listener
Well, I need to write another. When I tell you the emails I wrote were like dissertations, quoting the consulate, the embassy and everything, they're telling us to get the hell out of the Middle East. If you don't get out of the Middle East. Now you're on your own.
DJ Envy
Damn. But you still. They're still supposed to be giving you. According to what I'm reading here on cnn, they're still supposed to be giving you a non refundable ticket. That's what. And that's according to the Department of Transportation website as well.
Caller/Listener
Well, I will definitely have to fight that source when I contact them again. But every email I send is giving me the same information. 72 hours. We're giving refunds right now. Your travel data too far in advance. Things may change. I don't care if that war ends right now. I am not going over there.
Damn.
Down the block from there, another hotel to take.
DJ Envy
So I would think. I would think you a damn fool if you were going to Dubai right now.
Caller/Listener
I totally agree. I just want my money back. That's $2,000 in just airlines and airline fees that I can use.
DJ Envy
Damn.
Caller/Listener
Now trying to find something else for a last minute spring break vacation is almost impossible.
DJ Envy
Yeah, we not going nowhere. You're going to be sitting right home. It's okay. Listen, I think we should be happy when God makes us be still. He making us be still for a reason.
Caller/Listener
I totally agree. That's why I'm not planning to go anywhere else. I just want my money back.
DJ Envy
Absolutely. Well, thank you for calling.
Caller/Listener
I can make something fun at home. But thank you for hearing me out. I just need to say, hopefully somebody can contact Emirates or Emerson and say, let's give these US citizens their money back.
DJ Envy
Yes, man. I mean, like I said, the Department of Transportation and CNN are both saying that Middle east, if you're. If you're.
Caller/Listener
You're.
DJ Envy
If your flight was canceled, significantly, significantly delayed due to war, airspace closes in the Middle East. You're entitled to full prompt refunds even on non refundable tickets.
Caller/Listener
I will look that up, sir. Thank you so much, everybody. Y' all have a blessed day.
DJ Envy
Peace. We do that every Friday. It's the people's donkey. You can call in and give somebody the credit they deserve for being stupid. Okay. Every Friday it's the Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning.

Charlamagne Tha God
Good morning, everybody. It's DJ Envy. Just hilarious. Charlemagne the guy. We are the Breakfast Club now. Salute to Jordan. Call us.
DJ Envy
Hold on. Back up, brother.
Charlamagne Tha God
Oh, I'm sorry. It's your favorite part right here.
Angela Yee
Back it up, bro.
DJ Envy
It's Friday, so you know what that means. It's freaky, freaky, freaky Friday.
Charlamagne Tha God
And the question is, does this chore play turn you on? I mean, now this conversation comes from Jordan Carlos, who stopped through earlier and he wrote a book called Chore play the marriage saving magic of getting your head out of your ass.
DJ Envy
Yes. And he's basically saying that, you know, putting in the effort in small ways will yield big results. So if, you know, you do things like, you know, wash the dishes or vacuum when your wife, you know, doesn't expect it, or make up the bed, you know, doing things like learning the names of your children's doctors and what medicines they take.
Angela Yee
Teachers, everything.
Charlamagne Tha God
I ain't die. I can't go that far because I don't know my kids teachers.
DJ Envy
You know your kids teachers?
Angela Yee
Well, you got six of them.
Charlamagne Tha God
Do you know your kids teachers? Absolutely.
Angela Yee
I know my kids teachers names. I'm the mother. I don't know if Jerome. Well, yeah, Jerome is heavily involved and my husband is heavily involved. Yeah, we all know. We all know Ashley's teachers names. Yeah. Dang, that's great, actually.
DJ Envy
What's their name?
Caller/Listener
What?
Charlamagne Tha God
Good question.
DJ Envy
She don't know.
Charlamagne Tha God
She don't know.
DJ Envy
She don't know. She don't know. She don't know.
Charlamagne Tha God
She don't know.
DJ Envy
She don't know. Good question, Charlotte.
Charlamagne Tha God
She don't know.
DJ Envy
Boy, Jamal Bryant told you to stop lying.
Angela Yee
He need to stop lying, too.
Charlamagne Tha God
Let's go to the phone lines.
Caller/Listener
Hello? Who's this?
This is Jay from Charleston.
Charlamagne Tha God
Hey, Jay from Charleston.
DJ Envy
What's happening, Jay?
Caller/Listener
Hey, how are you?
DJ Envy
Do you like. Do you like chore play, Jay?
Caller/Listener
I do.
I. I agree. 100. I think you have to keep in mind that your wives are not machines. You can't expect us to do all the things and work full time and have time to play with you that night.
Angela Yee
That's right.
Caller/Listener
Take something off her plate without. Without being told, don't ask, what can I do? You see what's dirty? You see these kids ain't clean.
Angela Yee
That's right.
Caller/Listener
Okay. When you handle it, if you have a good time that night, There you go. I agree.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right, Jay. Thank you, mama.
DJ Envy
Now, she said, you know, these kids ain't clean. How old are the kids? Okay. I'm just saying. Oh, no, not you, Dave. I'm just saying, because at some point, they. Cleanliness is their responsibility, okay?
Caller/Listener
Oh, for sure. Yeah. No, she's a baby now, dad.
Charlamagne Tha God
It's chill play. Turn you on, Des?
Caller/Listener
Absolutely, absolutely. Yeah. I got a dog. When I see him taking my dog out, when I see him wiping down the counters, anything. That's right. I also am a nanny for work, so I do that during the day all the time. So when I get home and he does that, I'm definitely like, yeah, let me keep my feet up for a
little bit longer now.
DJ Envy
You know what's interesting? I meant to ask Jordan that. What happens when somebody does have a nanny, you know what I mean? Because then I'm hiring somebody to do the chores for us, basically.
Caller/Listener
It depends. It depends. Sometimes there's a nanny, like, just for the kids.
Angela Yee
Right.
Caller/Listener
But if you talk about their duties, it kind of. It can kind of turn into, like, a household manager.
Correct.
Nanny person. I am, like, a nanny personal assistant. So I'll do extra things like scheduling appointments and dry cleaners and all sorts of things.
Charlamagne Tha God
She like an assistant as well as a nanny.
Caller/Listener
Yeah. So the kids, they're at school during the daytime, so during that time, I'm doing whatever. I'm currently organizing their closet, so going through all that stuff.
Angela Yee
Yeah.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right.
Angela Yee
Yeah. It's different levels to nannies, 800-585-1051.
Charlamagne Tha God
We're asking, does chore play turn you on? Chore play is.
DJ Envy
Chore play is basically, you know, when you put in the effort in small ways that yield big results. You do things around the house for your wife. You know what I mean? Like the young lady said, you wipe down counters. You know what I mean? Like, you know, your children's teacher's names or their doctor's names, you know, what medicines they take. You know, you give the kids a
Angela Yee
bath or even if you see something is low, like milk, eggs, anything like that in the refrigerator, go and get it. I don't even wait for me to go get it. You go and get it, go to the grocery store, stock it up. When waters are running low, stock more waters in the refrigerator.
DJ Envy
All of that is like foreplay. I mean, that's what Jordan's saying is, why you calling it your play? Help y' all grabbing bottles of wine. Y' all need to be grabbing bottles of Windex.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, do you feel the same? Call us up right now. When we come back, we got a brother on the line that said he's done all that.
DJ Envy
He still can't get nothing.
Charlamagne Tha God
He can't get nothing. Abdul, good morning.
Caller/Listener
Good morning. How y' all doing?
DJ Envy
How are you, sir?
Caller/Listener
Pretty good. But the comments on your topic, it's pretty much like I did it for years and years out and like, at first year, you know, turn around, got them draws, cook, clean, pay bills, still make time for the gym, play with the kids. After a while, they just got accustomed to it. Like it was a. Like it was something regular. I'm doing it so I can get something out of it. At the end of the night, you think I'm sweeping and mopping and all this. That 7:30, 8:00 clock at night, watching butts, putting people in bed.
DJ Envy
Abdul, where you calling from? Philly or Newark?
Angela Yee
Baltimore.
Caller/Listener
Nah, nah, cut it out. Baltimore techno. Jersey.
DJ Envy
Newest. Philly and Newark. What part of Jersey?
Angela Yee
We are the same.
Caller/Listener
South Jersey.
DJ Envy
South Jersey. Okay. All right. Are you. How much do you weigh?
Caller/Listener
272 something.
DJ Envy
2. 72.
Charlamagne Tha God
72.
DJ Envy
How tall are you now?
Caller/Listener
I'm 200, bro. I'm 5 11.
DJ Envy
5 11. 272. Let me see if you obese, okay? Yeah. You're not obese.
Caller/Listener
Do something.
DJ Envy
Yeah, you're not obese. Yeah, I'm just trying to find other reasons why she don't want to sleep.
Angela Yee
Do you work, though? You doing all that?
Caller/Listener
Yeah, I'm working right now, do y' all have TVs? I cut grass. I'm a chemical specialist. I do a lot of careers.
DJ Envy
Damn. And you work around the house?
Caller/Listener
Mexican.
DJ Envy
Are you part Mexican?
Caller/Listener
Everything.
Charlamagne Tha God
Damn.
Jordan Carlos
Shut up.
Caller/Listener
Nah, I'm all black.
DJ Envy
So listen, what have you. Have y' all had conversations about it? Maybe it's something she's going through. How old is she?
Caller/Listener
Right around the same age. 30. 30 plus, you know, 33.
DJ Envy
She's not even like no perimenopause or nothing. I don't, I, I don't, I don't know.
Angela Yee
It's him. It's something about him.
DJ Envy
I don't want to put. I don't want to put that on. You just said it's you.
Angela Yee
Something about you. Because if you're doing all that and you still ain't getting nothing, it's you. It's something that.
Caller/Listener
No, I, I, I can get it. I can get it, but it's just not like. It's like, I got it, I gotta
Charlamagne Tha God
want to get it.
Caller/Listener
But I want somebody turned on.
DJ Envy
You want somebody to want you back,
Angela Yee
like, take the initiative.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, sorry, I'm tired to come out.
DJ Envy
Yeah, I think, I think you need. Y' all need to have a conversation with a specialist. Not the Breakfast Club,
Charlamagne Tha God
but it also
DJ Envy
could be something else is going on.
Charlamagne Tha God
It could be the other way around. She might not feel sexy, but she might. You know what I mean?
Caller/Listener
Yeah.
DJ Envy
Or.
Angela Yee
Or she could be feeling sexy with somebody else.
DJ Envy
Yeah. Don't do that.
Charlamagne Tha God
I don't know why you did that. Oh, sorry.
Angela Yee
Hello?
Charlamagne Tha God
Who's this?
Angela Yee
Good morning.
Caller/Listener
Hi. My name is Shakira. Jess Aquarius. You know. Hey, girl. I love you. I love you guys.
Lauren LaRosa
I love you too, y'.
DJ Envy
All.
Caller/Listener
All the time.
DJ Envy
Thank you. Shakaria. Do you like short play?
Caller/Listener
Yes. Oh, my God. It's exactly what I'm going through right now. I feel like me and my boyfriend have been beefing for like three years. Our son did turn three. It's a lot of. He doesn't want to feel. It's exact. He, he feels like I'm his mom. He wants to do things when he wants to do them and not when it's convenient for the house. Our son was diagnosed with autism. He's 3, but he's talking a lot more now. But I handle everything. The school, the therapist, speech therapy, og changing my hours at work. I have a master's in social work. And my career is like. Everything is dictated by our child, you know? And I'm the one that does all of that. He. I feel like he's trying to punish me because I guess I'm unpleasant because I am overwhelmed. So literally everything that was said this morning is what I'm going through.
Angela Yee
Does he, does he work? Like, did he lose a job? Was he going through a funk or something like that? That, you know, a man child?
DJ Envy
Damn.
Caller/Listener
I make his doctor's appointment like.
DJ Envy
But, but look, did you, did you
Angela Yee
start doing that or were you always doing that? Was he always a man child?
Caller/Listener
No, I just started. Hell no.
Charlamagne Tha God
So you drive down there when you see him.
Angela Yee
So it had to be something that happened though. Cause she said he wasn't always like that.
Caller/Listener
No, no, no, no, no, no. He never went to the doctor like I'm seeing now that we have a child. He's not as responsible as I would like him to be. He's not. He don't take our son nowhere. I'm. I'm the one finding all the things going on eventbrite. Taking our son to the park. That's me. I do all of this.
DJ Envy
Well, can I, can I ask a question? How often does this brother work?
Caller/Listener
Oh, no, he works.
DJ Envy
And that's my point. Full time jobs, no doubt. And I don't think we factor that in enough, man. Men are trying to keep food on the table. We trying to keep a rock roof over our family's heads. Like, I don't think people realize how stressful that is.
Angela Yee
Was she doing the same thing? But I'm doing this to an autistic child. That's. That's a lot of labor.
DJ Envy
It is.
Charlamagne Tha God
She just want a little help. And she's saying that, you know, because she's dry down there.
DJ Envy
Because he's not doing what I'm saying. Now you keep saying this woman dry. You don't know if this woman got wop or not. Yo, stop letting them disrespect your poom poom like that.
Charlamagne Tha God
She said don't turn on.
Caller/Listener
Listen, listen. You got to be turned on though.
Angela Yee
Yeah, you gotta want it.
Caller/Listener
I got a child like another child. Like, yeah, you're a 36 year old man. You should be going to the doctor. You should be doing that stuff. How can I trust you? Do that stuff for us, we won't do it for you.
DJ Envy
So you just admitted you got dap on the radio. You just admitted you got dab, but
Angela Yee
it's because of him. But that's what the author of the book was saying. That's what Jordan even was saying.
Charlamagne Tha God
Thank you, mama.
Angela Yee
He was subconsciously like that. He didn't even realize that, you know, he had good intentions.
DJ Envy
It just was no structure. I said this while Jordan was here, and I really mean this. There's actual research that shows that women excel at household and family needs better. Like, they just have higher levels of organization. They're better planners. They just are.
Angela Yee
But that's not a reason to put all of it on us and totally neglect that we need help.
DJ Envy
I ain't say all of it. I'm just saying I just feel like the best person for the job should be the person that gets the job. That's crazy. Well, her ass should.
Angela Yee
Our ass should be able to stay home then. Especially that lady taking care of that autistic baby, man. They need a whole lot of patience.
DJ Envy
And I agree with that.
Caller/Listener
They do.
DJ Envy
I agree with that, too. I mean, if you are a man that is able to provide and your woman can, you know, stay home, that is technically her job. That's her job. That's her duty. She's the CEO of the house. That's what she does.
Charlamagne Tha God
Well, is there a moral to the story?
DJ Envy
The moral of the story is y' all better try some chocolate. You know what I'm saying? By the way, all jokes aside, just naturally you should do those type of things. Like, if, you know, if you see something, you know, dirty around the house and you can clean it up, you should clean it up. We can all. We can all be better in those areas. You know what I mean?
Caller/Listener
All right.
Charlamagne Tha God
All right. Now you got a positive note.
Caller/Listener
I do.
DJ Envy
I want to salute everybody you know, that's been going to Crystal in South Carolina, man. The Orangeburg location, 1486 Chestnut street and the Walterboro location, 1222 Bells Highway. My wife and I truly thank y' all for the support, man. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Now, the positive note is simply this. I heard when you stop chasing what you want, you walk right into what you need. You heard what I said? When you stop chasing what you want, you walk right into what you need.
Angela Yee
Your grandmother told you that?
DJ Envy
No.
Angela Yee
That sound like something right out of Gertrude mouth. I'm telling you, that sounds like a good, good grandma quote. I like it.
DJ Envy
Breakfast Club, bitches.
Caller/Listener
Y' all finished or y' all done?
Jordan Carlos
Wake you up.
DJ Envy
Wake you up.
Charlamagne Tha God
Wake that ass up.
Jordan Carlos
Program your alarm to power 105.1 on iHeartradio.
Caller/Listener

This “Best Of” episode of The Breakfast Club blends classic call-in segments with an in-depth interview with comedian and author Jordan Carlos, centered on his new book about relationship survival through “chore play”—the idea that sharing the household workload is crucial to intimacy and marital health. The show also includes a lively Freaky Friday debate on whether doing chores leads to more sex, with candid calls from listeners sharing both frustrations and successes in love, work, and household balance.
[02:39]–[25:30]
Caller Ben shares he’s at his wit’s end with his girlfriend’s dogs and the hair everywhere ([03:10]):
"I hate my girl dogs. I don't like going to work with dog hair all over me... I had a dream about poisoning them dogs last night... there's something going on with my mental." —Ben ([04:09])
“She got you cleaning up poop, bruh.” ([03:50])
IRS & Bad Employers:
Caller JV from Jersey City is almost ruined financially by an employer skimming his taxes ([07:07]):
“I owe the IRS twenty-eight thousand... They said, you ain't paid since 2020.”
—JV ([07:22])
"IRS just want their money. They don't care who gonna give it to." ([08:17])
"Y'all kids just don't know how to hustle no more. All y'all hustles on social media."
—DJ Envy ([17:39])
“Bootlegging and boosting. That’s why they used to call me Boo Boo.” ([23:12])
"You can't just walk up to somebody's door and knock on it and ask to help... they’re not going to believe you’re really there to help." —DJ Envy ([22:07])
[26:38]–[54:46]
Book title: Chore Play: The Marriage Saving Magic of Getting Your Head Out of Your Ass
“The bar is in hell for men when it comes to just like cleaning up around the house and we trip over it all the time.” —Jordan Carlos ([27:02])
Jordan reflects on traditional gender roles, the undervalued “invisible labor” women perform, and how failing to share household burdens almost ended his marriage.
“...learning about executive function and what women go through all the time was so, like, my eyes are open.” ([28:32])
During COVID, Jordan’s lack of contribution at home surfaced as a primary relationship issue.
“When the tide goes out, you see the rocks, right?...I was not contributing to the household...I was, like, giving into, like, man child vibes.” ([30:00])
Key realization: Small, consistent acts (like making coffee) have outsized importance in partnerships.
“He was famous among the moms...he makes coffee every morning for his wife. That’s it...The bar is in hell.” ([43:10])
“She wasn’t down to clown as much when the house wasn’t in order...” ([33:47])
“What's my approval matrix? What do I believe in? What's my standard?... I'm gonna change my vibe.” ([42:01])
“When you pretend to be incompetent at something...That’s called Tom Sawyer...What’s cute in your 20s is not cute in your 40s.” —Jordan Carlos ([34:29]) “Women are the best at cleaning...Women are the CEOs of the house.” —DJ Envy ([51:27])
“Have a plan. Your partner deserves dinner plans...Keep that candle burning.” ([48:02])
[54:53]–[63:22]
Listeners call in to nominate their own “donkeys”—from co-workers to public figures to airlines.
Charlamagne gets called out for TMI on the air:
“ChatGPT is your personal business, not the world’s business. That was very inappropriate.”
—Tashina ([55:21])
Listeners also bash public figures, jobs with bad cultures, and poor airline refund policies.
[67:52]–[79:12]
Prompt: Does doing household chores for your partner make you more attractive? Is "chore play" real foreplay?
Callers overwhelmingly agree: when men step up at home, women’s interest in intimacy increases.
“You can't expect us to do all the things and work full time and have time to play with you that night...Take something off her plate without being told...”
—Jay from Charleston ([69:21])
A male caller voices frustration that consistent effort goes unrewarded, suggesting expectations shift over time ([72:09]).
Women share that emotional labor and feeling like a partner—rather than a second mother to an adult—is crucial to desire.
“You should be going to the doctor...How can I trust you to do that stuff for us if you won’t do it for you?”
—Shakira ([76:59])
“When you stop chasing what you want, you walk right into what you need.” —DJ Envy ([79:01])
Jordan Carlos on relationship repair:
“I wrote this book because I read a book about a guy that just didn't put his glass in the sink when his wife would ask him for years. And she divorced him because of that.” ([54:12])
On fathers as models:
“You can be an ally in the streets, but not in the sheets.” ([46:02])
Angela Yee on emotional burden:
"But that’s not a reason to put all of it on us and totally neglect that we need help." ([77:40])
The conversation is honest, comedic, and self-deprecating—switching from playful debates about dogs and childhood hustles to the deeper confessions and revelations of marriage and self-worth. Banter between the hosts, frank admissions by listeners, and Jordan Carlos’ vulnerability produce both laughs and genuine insight. The episode ultimately promotes a message of partnership, empathy, and open communication in relationships—sprinkled, of course, with Breakfast Club’s signature irreverence and humor.
