Listen to this podcast will kill you on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's get to it. Time to do it. I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything. And everybody knows you don't lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot. Hey Y', all, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is the latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room, baby. Back on the grind. So let's check in behind the scenes of the grind. We went to a Women's History Month event that I Heart Media had yesterday. Various panels in various performances, Two of the standout, because I knew the people on the panel who was a panel with Thea Mitchum, who was our program director at Power 1051. Jess, hilarious. And a few of the other women voices at the station, they had an amazing conversation just about knowing your voice, finding your voice, and understanding that your voice is important. And then that was followed by a conversation with. With the one and only OG Angie Martinez. And Angie Martinez was in convo with someone that I've talked about many of times here on the podcast, Ms. Boma St. John of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Marketing genius, marketer, marketer to the biggest brands in the world, some of them. And, you know, Boma has always been a person that is really, really great at communication and really, really great at. At showing up ask herself in various places. So she talked a lot about what, you know, as a woman, what she leans in on the most in order to do that. I have just some inspirational words from the panel, from the sit down with Bozeman St. John and Angie Martinez that I wanted to play here to kind of let you guys know what, what headspace I started my day in. Let's take a look. Wherever your intuition is talking to you, we tend to downplay it. And so we ask people their opinion on whether or not we should take this other job, whether we should date that other person, what we should wear to the party, like, stop doing that. Because when you do that, every time you do it, you continue to doubt yourself and your own voice. And we often know when we should pivot out of the relationship, out of the job, out of that friendship. Like we know it. We just don't believe ourselves. And so then we don't. And we dim when we don't do that. And so it feels very much like an individual concept and idea. And a lot of times, I mean, now you're like, yes, you look at my resume and people feel like, oh, my God, the strategy it took to build it. But the truth is that nobody really was cheering me as I was making those pivots. You know, the last corporate job I had, I was the global chief Marketing officer of Netflix. Right. And I had. That's a good title. A big job, y'. All. Okay. But when I was leaving, people told me I was crazy, right? Yeah. Because I wanted to write my book, which a lot of publishers said that I should write that. Like, you know, how to get into the corner suite in heels. How to climb the corporate ladder in heels. Oh, boy. The Box Chickens and Plug Life Talent Girl. I was like, but by the way, if I do write that book, don't tell people I said that. Okay? But I decided not to write that book. I wanted to write a book about grief and about loss because I've been through so much of it. And I think what happens is that as you become bigger and bigger and bigger in your leadership and your career, Career. People sometimes think that, like, he got there with some sort of ease. Right. You know, And I was just like, yo, I've been knocked down hard. One thing Bozeman gonna do is just motivate you. Like, in real life, it's not even just about the words that she says, because she's obviously really good at putting them things together. Putting the words together, baby. She is so good at it. But it's a lot about, like, how she actually shows up as a person. When we were doing the podcast from Ghana, I told you guys that we hung out with Bozeman. Me and my boyfriend went to Ghana for New Year's, and we hung out with Bozeman St. John and her family, and we experienced just such a great time and such a inspirational kickoff to the Year of understanding how important we are to the world. And we shared some of that video and that audio, so you can go back and check that out in a later podcast episode. But that's how she. I mean, any space she's in, that's how she shows up. So today, heading in on into things, if I'm checking in behind the scenes of the grind, I just feel very secure in. In. In what I have happening. And even in the things that I don't have. Right. And don't have figured out, I just feel secure in. I know what I need to do, Lauren. Just got to do it. Which is a great place to be security and feeling secure for me, you know, as we continue to celebrate Women's History Month, just speaking from the place of being a woman, not being a person, not being a media person, but a woman who is day to day, figuring it out, being secure is so important because it just puts you in the head space to. To try things, but to tackle Things to just, you know, create the plan and to execute. That's what I mean. It puts you in a great space of execution, and that's what this year is about for me. So loved last night's conversation. Was a great way to end a long work day. Now, speaking of execution, let's get on into the latest because, baby, it is some drama going on in the cardinal's household. Beyonce's dad then said some things. Let's get into the lady. Alrighty. So we want to back you guys up a bit. So from a full interview of Matthew Knowles having a conversation about Destiny's Child because he is promoting a reimagined tribute tour that he is doing for Destiny's Child. A clip from an interview he did with PIX11. An anchor named Candace Kendice Gibson from PIX11 is going viral. So late Monday night, page six posted this video. And it's, like, short. It's. I mean, I want to say all of like, maybe two minutes long with it looped. So there's like 53 seconds of a moment where Matthew Knowles is asked about Ms. Tina Knowles, who is the mother of Beyonce. Matthew Knowles is the father of Beyonce. The. The Beyonce and Solange. And y' all just listen for yourself. So take a listen to the clip that was put out on March 2nd. You've ordered your flowers. I said the same thing to Ms. Tina Knowles. You guys put in the work, and obviously the talent was there with your kids and your grandkids. What work does she put in. In the hair? Okay. You're absolutely right. And the styling. The styling imaging. You're right. Claim to have prayed on the name and different aspects of that. Sure, sure. Yeah. It's a joint effort. We'll stop now. Sorry, did I say something wrong? No, no, no, no. All right. Thank you so much. Thank you. Really appreciate it. Now, this clip began to circulate insanely on March 3rd. So 24 hours later, this clip begins to circulate insanely. And here we are talking about it today. Of course, the conversation around this is, why was it an issue to be giving Ms. Tina Knowles, Beyonce, Solange's mother, her flowers? The way that Mr. Matthew Knowles responds to Kendice Gibson, who is the journalist in this interview, when asked the question makes it feel like he was, like, trying to take away whatever credit should be given to Ms. Tina Knowles. And I mean, she's Beyonce's mom. She's Solange's mom. Like, the world physically and literally would not have these two amazing beings if her body didn't carry them. So of course this did not pick up. Well, it is now all over the place and being picked up all over the place. And we talked about on the Breakfast Club as well, right. And after we talked about it on the Breakfast Club, I. It was bothering me. I'm like, why haven't I seen this interview in full? Candice does full interviews for a show that he has on PIX11 called Candid with Kendice. And what I like about PIX11 and what they're doing with Kendice is they're a local news outlet here in New York. But on the entertainment front, they're picking, they're booking big talent as they should because they're local but they're in a big market. But he does these full on, you know, cross subject interviews and they're always really, really. He books talent that, I mean, it's hard to get. He's had, he's interviewed almost every member of Destiny's Child at this point. He also interviewed Ms. Tina Knowles when her book dropped. He's interviewed Beyonce like back in the day. So he's almost become what I begin to realize even before this moment when I saw his interview with Kelly and then when I saw his interview with Kelly Rowland and then prior to that I remember his interview with Ms. Tina and then I knew that he talked to Michelle. I'm like, oh, he's their safe space because you know, the way that the, you know, protection is set up around the amazing iconic woman of Destiny's Child and as it should be, they not just sitting down with a Neo body. Right. So there were some questions here for me. I'm like, if they sat down, I know there was more to the interview. And I realized that pix11 didn't post this clip themselves. So I'm digging and I see a full interview on YouTube. Honestly, I wish I had seen the full interview prior to us going on air, but for some reason, because I'd only saw this clip and I didn't even see Candace himself post this interview or post more from it. I just thought that there wasn't anything. I thought that this was like a teaser to something or whatever. But anyway, we're here now, so I've watched a full interview. And so when I talked about this previously on the Breakfast Club, I exclusively told you guys that Mr. Matthew knows, you know, in him ending this interview, from what I was told, I spoke to Kendice Gibson and I was told that this moment that has been amplified from this interview, which actually happened on January 3rd 30th. So this interview happened weeks ago. There was this one moment in the interview which Patience posted, where, yes, Mr. Matthew knows did get up and leave abruptly. And Kenda says he was completely thrown off. He says he was completely thrown off because there was never like any. Here's what you're not allowed to ask. The conversation was about Destiny's Child because Mr. Matthew knows is doing a Destiny's Child tribute. And in talking about Destiny's Child, you of course, talk about Beyonce. It was around Grammy time when they recorded this and she was up, up to break crazy records at the Grammys, right? So of course you talk about Beyonce. And in talking about Beyonce, you eventually have to get to the part where you talk about the creators of Beyonce, literally her parents, who we famously know now in the Page Six article, you know, when this was originally published, Mr. Matthew Mano, he told Page Six that Kendace Gibson, the journalist in. In question here, had arrived 15 minutes late to the sit down. Mr. Matthew knows says that he asked Kendice asked multiple questions about Tina. Mr. Matthew knows says that he politely ended the interview. He shook his hand, took a photograph, and then he did. There's another article that says Mr. Matthew Knowles says that he had another interview to get to. Kendish says that that was not true. They later found out he just had. He went and had lunch. He just ended this abruptly. Right? So I'm asking Candace, I'm like, well, can you explain to me, like, what was the issue? He and, and I watched the interview in full and from what was here, unless it was edited, because again, this moment that sparked all this controversy was. Was edited out, Right? So unless it was edited out, there's a 40, almost 40 minute interview on PIX11's YouTube channel. Ms. Tina Knowles is not mentioned one time directly, like at all. But again, I don't know what was edited, what was not, because this has been out since the 30th. And then I asked Candace, I'm like, hey, were you or anybody at PIX11 told that you were not allowed to ask about Messina? He also said no. He. Kendice, you know, who conducted this interview, said that he was very shocked. And you can hear it in the interview at the end of that. That clip where Mr. Matthew knows is obviously agitated. Let's take a listen to how it ended because you can hear Kendis kind of caught off guard, but trying to make sure he didn't do anything. We'll stop now. Sorry, did I say something wrong? No, no, no, no, no. All right, thank you so much. Thank you. I really appreciate it. All right, thank you. Thank you. So Kendish says he was completely caught off guard. And in, in watching the full interview. I understand why he was caught off guard because if what Mr. Matthew Knowles is saying, like, basically he's saying it started off Mr. Matthew knows. And I mean, listen, I know he's a pro. He done created some of the, the best, most talented and professional beings on the world, in the world, but you couldn't tell that there was any, anything that was agitated in the beginning of this interview, throughout the interview, because they talk about so many things that are not just the messy stuff. Right. Which is what I think is kind of being implied here by he kept asking questions about Ms. Tina Knowles, who, you know, Mr. Matthew knows and Ms. Tina Knowles have not been together in some years now. Like they divorced in 2011. They were, they were married for 31 years. And Ms. Tina knows has talked about, you know, kind of some of their, like, upsets and the alleged infidelity and her decision to leave him and all that stuff. But, and Kendis did that interview. He didn't even bring that into it from what we can see anyway. But there's a part of the interview. This is Matt Barnes from All the smoke. In 1876, the very first phone call in history was made. And 150 years later, we're more connected than we've ever been. But even though technology will always change, a one on one phone call still remains everything. AT&T has been connecting people for 150 years. That's too many conversations to count. And so many of life's biggest moments start with the phone call. I remember when I received a call from my agent in 2002 to let me know I'd been called up from the G League. It was one of the greatest, most exciting calls. It finally came. I was waiting on it for about three months and it finally happened and it changed my life. From there. I went on to win a championship and start this amazing show that we're talking about now from 1876 to 2026. No matter what you need to talk about, AT&T keeps us connected. Connecting changes everything. AT&T ready for a different take on Formula One? Look no further than no Grip, a new podcast tackling the culture of motor racing's most coveted series. The entire season two is now available to binge, featuring powerful conversations with the guests like Tiffany Haddish, Johnny Knoxville and more. I'm an alcoholic and without this program, I'm gonna die. Open your free iHeartRadio app, search the Cino show and listen now where they talk about Beyonce's act three. Basically like the next round of music that Beyonce will be dropping because a lot of people think that it's going to be rock music. So they asked about the Candace asked about that and they. I feel like this was like such a. Like they're laughing, they're joking. Like you can see the chemistry in the interview here. Let's take a look. Do you want Act 3 to be rock? What though? Act 3 to be rock? I want it to be whatever Beyonce wants it to be. Will it be rock? I don't know. We've gotten some hints. Will it be rock? I don't know. Rosetta Tharp, was she rock? What was her original mindset like? When I gave you a hint, it went right over your head. What was it? I came over here and went right over his head. Stop it. Went right over his head. Cuz he's not listening. I have to teach this young man how to interview man. So rock it is. I don't know. If you have any other hints. I'm. I'm. I'm open. Stay open. Stay awake. I'm just going to sit here, not say a word. I think that's where music comes in because it brings collectives of people together. And I've seen Destiny's Child do that. I've seen Beyonce do that. I've seen Solange bring all shapes and colors together for one coming go. Which is what this Destiny's Child iconic reimagined tribute is all about. Yeah. And then they even get deep. Like they talk about how Destiny's Child, like their music and what they did in their movement, literally saved people's lives. And Mr. Matthew Knowles shares a story about how there was a girl who wrote fan mail to them back when people would actually write letters about how she almost killed herself. And Survivor, the song saved her. Let's take a listen to that. I remember years ago when we had fan club mail and I would read some of it and I remember reading a letter from a woman and Pennsylvania, she had gotten in her bathtub, had a razor about to slit her wrist. And in the kitchen on her radio, Survivor came on. Wow. And it saved a life. We got a lot of letters on Survivor that actually saved people's lives. And myself six years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer and I was being rolled into the operating room, that was the song that was in my head. I'm a survivor. I'm gonna make it. I'm not gonna stop. I'm gonna keep on surviving. Wow. Who penned that song? Do you remember somebody named Beyonce Knowles? Matthew Knowles and Anthony Dent. And was it born out of something that had happened? Yeah. It was a dj, smart DJ in Houston on the radio talking about that being on Destiny's Child is like being on the TV show Survivors who's gonna get kicked off this week? And me and Beyonce looked at each other, and we said, that's a great idea. Literally, you guys looked at each other. You're in the car listening to this, and you're like, okay, you know what? We're gonna take that and we're gonna write a song about it, because I am a survivor. We all are, hopefully. Yeah. And of course, you know, is there more Beyonce music coming? Is there more Destiny's Child with Beyonce music coming? Like, all of those things were talked about as well. His grandkids. And one of the things I learned in this interview was the fact that Destiny's Child, they've never missed a show, no matter how sick or anything, which, you know, goes to show their work ethic. And. And Mr. Matthew knows, like, the direct question was, what is one thing we didn't know? Which was interesting, because I feel like people ask all the same questions about Destiny Child. So that was interested in here. But also, remember when Blue Ivy was coming out on stage all of that time during the Renaissance tour? Mr. Matthew Knowles, of course, was there on some shows, on some occasions, and Candace asked him about, you know, how did he feel? Like, what was his emotion when Blue Ivy came out on stage? And it was that whole handoff moment from Destiny's Child to Blue Ivy. Let's take a look. Did it come across to you when they walked off stage and Blue walked on? Did you see the transition that. The handoff that we all did? You haven't met roomie. I can tell. I can tell this young man has not met roomie. So wait, so we think Blue is the manager. What's roomy then? You'll see. Two more years. Really Roomy is Solange all over for you. Not roomy is the next Solange, baby. Cuz Solange is a force. I love her. I love her whole being, her whole existence. Like, she is just. I don't know, she's so unbothered. But, like, it's like everything she does is so. She takes her time. She's in her own space. She's moving at her own pace, her own motion. She's one of one. So to find out that Rumi is very much baby Solange. And then you have Blue Ivy, who is obviously baby Beyonce. Right? Ready for a different take on Formula one. Look no further than no Grip, a new podcast tackling the culture of motor racing's most coveted series. Segregation in the day, Integration at night when segregation was the law. One mysterious Black club owner had his own rules. We didn't worry about what went on outside. It was like stepping in another world. Inside Charlie's Place, black and white people danced together. But not everyone was happy about it. You saw the kkk. Yeah, they were dressed up in their uniform. The KKK set out to raid Charlie, take him away from here. Charlie was an example of power. They had to crush him. From Atlas Obscura, Rococo Punch, and visit Myrtle beach comes Charlie's Place, a story that was nearly lost to time. Until now. Listen to Charlie's place on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Who knew? My point in. In. In even talking about these other moments in the interview and showing you guys this is that I don't know for sure if I believe, you know, Mr. Knowles when it comes to this. And it's. That's in no disrespect, completely respective and everything he's done with the group. But if I'm reading a statement and you're talking about how the interview started off on a bad foot, ended. So it ended on a bad foot, as if there was a, you know, some sort of, like, disconnect that just made the energy bad. And then I'm seeing you guys laughing, joking, getting deep. Like, as a person that does interviews, I'm like, are you sure? Like, were you. Were we all in the same. Are we watching the same interview you were in? And hopefully there was nothing else edited out, because Candace has gone on record with me about this, and if one thing has been edited out and that made it to the surfaces, because Kendall's also too, let me know that, like, you know, this is not something that he's losing sleep over. But the network is definitely confused how that clip made it out, because now it's overshadowing the actual interview itself. So hopefully nothing else is leaked. Right? Like, if there were more Tina questions, if there were questions that were pointed in a wrong way about Ms. Tina, that would have made him say, okay, we're done. I'm over this. You know, if something. If one thing is already slipped, something else might as well, too. So hopefully not because he's going on record, but I don't know. I. Mr. Matthew knows a statement and what I'm watching, it just. It doesn't align. So I'm still trying to figure out, you know, what was that like? Because I don't believe that he just wouldn't want her to also receive flowers as well, too. I don't want to believe that only because I think, you know, for him to have been as successful as he's always talked about he was in investing in, you know, the corporate arena. Somebody had to be with the babies and making sure the babies were in their best head space and physical space so that they could then go on to become Beyonce and Solange. And I know he understands that and appreciates it. I've seen him speak super positively and very well of Ms. Tina Knowles and vice versa. So I don't know what's going on here. I don't know what this moment is about. But I mean, all I could tell you is what I was told and that is what I, I've done. Yeah. If there's any more, I, of course, you guys know I'm always keeping you posted and we'll do so shout out to Kendis though, and you know, everything. Kendis Gibson and Candid with kendis over at Pix11. Make sure y' all check out that platform because he does a really good job with his interviews. I was so surprised, actually, like to see a moment like this from one of his interviews. They always seem. And it's not that he doesn't ask the, the harder questions or the things that people want to know. You can just tell that the people that come on his show, he's built up some time and rapport with them so they're comfortable about talking about the uncomfortable things. I don't know. Didn't go well this time, though. Here I'm Lori LaRosa.
