Right? Lauren came in hot. Hey, y'. All, what's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is the latest with Lauren LaRosa. This is your daily take on all things pop culture, entertainment news, and all of the conversations that shake the room. Baby. Checking in behind the scenes of the grind. Let's, let's start there first. I am exhausted today. I did a photo shoot last night for the new Brown Girl grinding merch. And I've been telling you guys that, you know, if you are hearing the sound of my voice to take the code latest L A T E S T and go to brown girl.com and get you 10% off of all of our new merch. But I did a photo shoot for the merch last night and then after the photo shoot, I still had to stay up and prepare a topic list for the show. So baby girl didn't go to bed until about, like 12:31 o' clock and had to be up at like 4:15. And I am feeling it right now. I am feeling it. But Valentine's Day weekend is almost here and it is a long weekend because we don't have to work on Monday. Shout out to the holiday. Not our president, but the holiday. Yeah. So that's how I'm feeling. But I'm pushing through, y'. All. Like, we are getting this done today because we are going to stay consistent, period. I am not missing a day. So let's get on into the latest so I can get on into my day. So up first in the latest. We've been talking a lot about the super bowl that went down last Sunday in February 8th. And the Super Bowl 60 was a big hit. So numbers came out today. Super Bowl 60 averaged 127 million viewers that tuned in to watch the Seahawks play the Patriots. We know the Patriots did not win. I'm not really the biggest football person, but I was bored by the game. And I've heard football people say they were bored as well, too. But I was bored. I felt like there was nothing that, like, kept me on the edge of my seat. I was just there for the Bad Bunny show, as I am every year for most of the halftime shows. But normally I can kind of get into the game a bit. I could not. But 125 million people tuned in, so maybe 124 million did. Now, last year's Super Bowl, Super Bowl 59, which featured a halftime show by Kendrick Lamar, 127.7 million people tuned in. Now, last year's show aired on Fox, Fox, Deportez and Telemundo and it also streamed on Tubi. This year's show was on NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, NBC Sports Digital and NFL Plus. Now the conversation that people are having is where does Bad Bunny's super bowl halftime performance rank in comparison to last year's Kendrick Lamar's performance? Because there are still some people, you know, that feel like Bad Bunny should not have done the Super Bowl. Now, in terms of ranking and comparison, according to the reports, and these are the live viewership captures and the first day out captures, which are the numbers that are captured by Nielsen. And Nielsen has this new technology that they use. It's called the Big Data plus panel. And that panel or that data intake system is a measurement methodology which officially rolled out in September. And it provides, according to Nielsen, it provides the most accurate TV measurement to date. So they are saying that Kendrick Lamar super bowl performance had 133.5 million viewers, but Bad Bunny Super bowl only averaged 128.2 million viewers. The 8:15 and 8:30pm Eastern Standard Time. You know what's crazy thinking about the fact that the super bowl is like the most sought after stage in entertainment and how big of a deal it is and how many people tune in for it to only be like that little 15 minutes. It's like impossible for anybody to really get into all the things of their favorite artist or artist they don't know, whoever. And it's only 15 minutes on stage. Bad Bunny did all of that. He changed scenes about 50 times in 15 minutes. But there was a dip from last year which are making people have the conversation about, you know, because Bad Bunny did a primarily non English speaking set, which he was one of the first Latin artists to be able to do. So did the dip, the small dip in viewership come from the fact that people were very visionly like vision people were very adamant about I'm not watching a Super Bowl, I'm going to go either watch Turning Point USA's Super bowl performance, which they did with Kid Rock, which. Yeah, I was going to say something. I don't know if I could say it though. I feel like Turning Point USA's. I feel like that second Super bowl ceremony, I mean, I didn't go or I didn't watch it or anything. But just listening to it and some of the people involved, it sounds like a KKK meeting. I mean they. Yeah, so at that, that performance you had Kid Rock and tell the other people performing, they honored and paid tribute to Charlie Kirk. It was just a very. A very much of a different audience on that side of things. But they had millions, like 5 million people tune in for that. So Bad Buddy was, you know, he was competing. Even though that is a smaller number compared to what he did that night, those 5 million people still could have made up for something that was lacking when it came to making people tune into Bad Bunny. And now here we are. But I think Bad Bunny's performance, though, I think this conversation and the way that it's talked about around him, it's kind of one of those things where if the. If the NFL is coming out and saying that they want to strengthen their relationship with the Latin community and within their Latin viewership space, and then you have an artist as big and as globally big as Bad Bunny come and perform and the viewership dips a bit. It's like, well, they told you from the jump that they didn't have the strongest viewership in the space that caters or feels like they're being catered to directly by bad bunnies. So not only do they take a risk investing in Bad Bunny and platforming him, and I don't mean a bad risk. I just think they kind of like they. Even if it had not worked out where he beat Kendrick's numbers or whoever, what came with Bad Bunny, the opportunity for people to learn and grow and meet this new genre of music, was like an investment on the NFL's part.

Welcome to the A building. I'm Hans Charles. I'm Menelik Lumumba. It's 1969. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr have both been assassinated, and black America was at a breaking point. Rioting and protest broke out on an unprecedented scale in Atlanta, Georgia. At Martin's alma mater, Morehouse College, the students had their own protest. It featured two prominent figures in black history, Martin Luther King senior and a young student, Samuel L. Jackson to be in what we really thought was a revolution. I mean, people were dying. 1968, the murder of Dr. King, which traumatized everyone.

Not get Bad Bunny effed up, okay? Because Bad Bunny is one of the biggest artists in the world. His streaming goes crazy. I saw that he broke Amazon records. I saw that he broke NFL digital records. Like, and when I say broke records, I don't mean like he got a new song coming out. I mean like there were like 4 billion people that engaged with content because of Bad Bunny. The NFL is reporting that Bad Bunny. That Bad Bunny records on social media, like their content that they posted around him around his super bowl performance. There are three videos that have become the most viewed NFL social media post in history, and they are now. And they. And those clips are Bad Bunny clips. So he did crazy numbers across social. We knew the number thing was going to happen. Though. Bad Bunny was the most watched Super bowl in US Spanish language history, the Super Bowl 60, which is a Super bowl that went telecast, also became the most watched Super bowl in US Spanish language history, averaging 3.3 million viewers on Telemundo across, according to Nielsen. And Bad Bunny became the first Spanish language Latin solo artist that headlined the super bowl halftime show. I don't care what y' all say. My super bowl performance could have been 0.5 less than Kendrick Lamar's. All that history I just made, right? Talk to me nice or not at all. Seriously, like, who cares? And then the stuff that he was able to do for other people, like, yeah. Bringing that little boy on. Yes. The stores, the taco trucks. That's tailor made it, y'. All. Hey, y'. All. Sorry, but yeah, but even. I mean, I have a friend. Shout out to Ashley. I have a friend in LA who is a dancer, and she got the dance with Bad Bunny on the super bowl. Like, even employing dancers and production crew because it was such a performance, like, good for him. I'm. Look, I know if I was of Spanish descent, like, I will be so hyped, like, seeing that, because you could tell he was showing. He was telling a story and, you know, just trying to show pride to, you know, his people think too, is like, okay, Puerto Rico is a part of America. And I. And clearly they forgot about that. Right? So I was gonna say people probably listening are like, duh, Lauren. I'm like, no, you have to say that a lot of people don't still think that Puerto Rico is a part of America. And I think because their culture in their. In their history and, you know, their languages and like, there's so many different things that are different about Puerto Rico, but there are places in the United States that you go to in. I mean, things are different everywhere. And I think a lot of times with artists that come from different genres and different backgrounds, it takes forever or it takes such a big US Crossover for them to be championed the way that they ever have never been here. Like, think about JLO and Shakira. And that's what I'm saying. People forgot about that. No, people didn't forget about it, but they didn't speak majority Spanish. Like, he spoke Spanish his whole set. Yeah, I guess. So that's the difference. And that's what I mean by, like, you have to cross over. You have to get to a point where you're this big Latin artist, but you can also speak, you know, to the American people as well. Speak to the people in the US And Bad Bunny was like, I'm gonna speak to y', all, but y' all got to come meet me where I'm at. Yeah, I want to take y' all into what I care about. Look, I'm not mad about it. I'm not mad that all of it was Spanish. I have no idea what he said, but I'm glad in a sense he did to piss them off. And I want them to keep pissing them off next year, do. What did Jesse K Pop, like, do all these different. Like, for real. I want to hear K pop gonna be crazy. I don't even like I Bad Bunny because Bad Bunny used to date Kendall J. I don't know no K Pop, but I don't have no damn idea about entertaining. I think. Don't they do a lot of dances and stuff like that? I feel like it'll be entertaining most. I'm here for it. Singers are dance. That's not. Not true. Who? I can't think of one right now. Even if the singer is not, like, dancing all day long on your Tik Tok feed. Most of them. Yeah. And Trey songs was dancing or singing. He definitely wasn't that dancer. I'm just saying. Anyways, that's true. But basically, this. To sum this conversation up, like, leave Bad Bunny alone. For real. I feel like he is one of the most unproblematic. But Latin people and just Bad Bunny fans in general have been going so hard for Bad Bunny. It made me rethink the way that I feel about. I've always felt like people that are barbs, that are like, the die hard ones, are like a bit insane, a bit much. But now I kind of realize, like, no, you got to go hard for your artists that you love because people really be playing with them. Like, people really tried to talk about Bad Bunny as if he was going to get up there and just no one was going to care. I don't understand why they would think that he just got em of the year. It wasn't he the most. Yeah. Like, he did his stream. Yeah. If not the most streamed, but one of the most streamed.
Bowen Yang / Hans Charles / Menelik Lumumba
Yeah.
Lauren LaRosa
But that's what I mean, though. Like. And I think the only fan group I can think of that you're not gonna be able to tell them nothing about nobody. Regardless of what happens. And, I mean, she got the accolades to back it up. It's the Barbs. I would love to meet a Barb and just, like, have a conversation about what does it really mean to be loyal to the people that you love in music. Because I've never cared that much about anything that doesn't directly affect me to do a lot of what I'm seeing people do. Like, you have legislators trying to pass law because of the Super Bowl. You have political activists trying to call out other, like, other activists who aren't upset about this. You have celebrity Kid Rock sitting down with Fox News. I mean, Fox News also, they're like barbs. They. They think one thing and they just stick to it. I don't know. I just really don't understand the concept. I'm like, yo, live and let live. Like, watch it or don't.

All right. And speaking of super bowl news, there's been a story circulating. Music artist Little Baby, an NFL player named Keon White. He's a defensive lineman for the 49ers. The San Francisco 49ers. So Keon was shot over or within the super bowl weekend at a party that he was throwing. And the conversation has been like, what happened to him? And there have been reports that Little Baby may have been involved in an argument that led to the shooting. Now, police have not gone on record and named Little Baby at all. There was a reporter from a local outlet called the Standard who said that there were eyewitnesses that, you know, and he's saying that this was in a police report that he saw. But this police report has not been reporting on, reported on from anywhere else but from the Standard and people quoting them. But this reporter says that he saw a police report. The police report mentioned that there was an argument that ensued between two different groups of people. So one crew was arguing with the other crew. Now, police have went on record and said that they're investigating and that they're. Whatever happened stemmed from an argument between two different groups of people. But the reporter is saying that this eyewitness says that one of the crews involved was Little Baby's crew. Allegedly. Right. And the issue was that Little Baby, I guess, was trying to get into a party that Keon White was throwing, and that wasn't successful. And then at some point in somewhere, argument ensued. And then a gun went off and Keon White was shot in the ankle and then had to have ankle surgery after, you know, being at a party at this nightclub at a place called Delilah's in San Francisco. Now, officers say when they arrived to the scene, they located Keon. He was suffering from the gunshot wound. They gave him aid and he has not been cooperative as far as like just having a conversation about what happened to him. He was transported to a local hospital for non life threatening injuries. And then what they found out wasn't because of anything that Keon said, but it was because of the investigation that they had. Police are still saying that the suspect is unknown. Now, I reached out to representatives for little Baby. I reached out to his publicist. I've also reached out to his attorney. Nothing back yet. I have also reached out to the San Francisco Police Department multiple times. I'm going to try again following this reporting. I was trying to kind of like wait until police gave more about suspect information, but they are so quiet on this that you don't really know what's happening. Now, Keon did make a statement from the hospital. He's. He's okay. He says, for those who know me, y' all know this won't stop me from spreading peace and joy to the world. Full steam ahead. I'm in great spirits and ready to make the most of this off season. Now, Keon was also in attendance at the super bowl game, and then they headed on over to the after party where things ensued, unfortunately. But he is okay. So nothing we can do but kind of like stay posted and know that the story will develop and when it does, I'll be back here with all the facts. All right, y'. All. So this has been another episode of the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. I'm Lauren LaRosa and at the end of the day, there's always some things to talk about. And I could sit here with y' all all day long and talk about them, but not today, y'.
