Thank you. Merry Christmas. Thank you so much. Let's open it. You know what this one is? No idea.

Thank you so much for this. Thank you. You know what, Dylan? Thank you. If you're ever watching, okay, just clap it up for the elf Dylan. Right? Merry Christmas. Thank you. Thank you so much for that. But as always, we're going to get into the word of God today, And in chapter 10, we're going to see that he sends out the 72. And Jesus starts it off in verse two. The harvest is plentiful, for the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out the laborers into his harvest. You know what's so crazy is. Is we. We view evangelism, right, as this scary thing because we're afraid of people rejecting us. Jesus actually says the issue is not that people aren't ready to give their life to Jesus. The harvest is ripe. I mean, there's a lot of people ready to give their life to Jesus. But he says the laborers are few, not enough people are sharing their faith. This not only should you go out, but he says, also, pray earnestly for the Lord of harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Is God calling you to go out and reach people in your school, at your workplace, in another country? What is he calling you to do? Go your way. Behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no money, bag no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, say, peace be to this house. If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if you're not, it will return to you. Remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide for the laborers deserve his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town, they receive you eat what's set before you, heal the sick in it, and say to them, the kingdom of God is near to you. But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into the streets and say, even the dust of your town that clings to your feet will wipe off against you. Nevertheless, know this, that the kingdom of God has come near. I'll tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that own town. You know, we'll see Jesus later. We see Jesus in Matthew 11, rebuking these cities that Jesus and John the Baptist and people have done miracles in, and they still didn't believe. And then he does it right? Now we see that in Matthew 11. Now we see it in Luke 9. What are you chores? In what do you beth SATA? For if the mighty works done in you had been done entire inside on, they would have repented a long time ago.
Sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable in the judgment for tear inside on them for you. And you, Capernaum will you be exalted to heaven. You shall be brought down to Hades. You know what Matthew 11 teaches us? Jesus then tells people, come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest in Matthew 11. See, here's the reality. The first thing we have to come to accountability and recognition that we've done some wicked stuff.
Woe to you for trying to handle your life in your own hands. But come to Jesus, all who are weary and heavy laden, I will give you rest. And he says he is gentle and lowly at heart, pleading his case on why you should come to him. In Matthew 11, the one who hears you hears me. And the one who rejects you rejects me. And the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me. You know, because all these people claim to love God with their mouth, but then when the Messiah is in front of him, they reject him. And he's saying, if you reject me, you're actually rejecting the Father because he sent me. Bold statement. Then the 72 they return, and he says to them, lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name. This is what the 72 say. And he says, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven, meaning before the creation of the universe, Jesus was in heaven and he saw Satan fall. Behold, I've given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and all over the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you. But rejoice that your names are written in heaven. So he says, look, you have authority through the power of the Holy Spirit in you. But look, don't take pride in that. Rejoice that just your name is written in the book of life.
You know what the greatest miracle is? It's not that you cast out demons or heal the sick. The greatest miracle in your life is that God has acknowledged you, forgiven you, and written your name in the book of life. It's the greatest miracle. It says, jesus rejoices in the Father's will. In verse 21, it says, I thank you, Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. And no one knows who the Son is except the Father or the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son choose to reveal him. Okay, this is an interesting statement. Jesus is saying here. He's saying, I am the only one who has a genuine relationship with the Father. And he says, so anyone who understands and receives me are going to be the only people that actually experience the Father through me. The only way you and I can have a relationship with the Father is through the Son. He is the bridge. There's this gap created by sin between man and God. And the bridge to the Father is Jesus Christ. The only way you and I can have a real relationship with the Father is through the Son.
Then, turning to the disciples, he says in verse 23, Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings desire to see what you see. He says, man, you have no idea how many people are dying to be in your shoes. And the prophets of old.
They believed in me, long for me without seeing me. But you see me.
Blessed are you that you hear the things that you hear that they did not hear. Then Jesus gives the parable of the Good Samaritan. A lawyer stood up and said, teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus says, what's in the law? And the guy quotes the law. He says, you shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength. And then Jesus says, you've answered correctly. Do this and you will live. But he desired to justify himself, says, and who is my neighbor?
Said, who's my neighbor? And he says, he gives the parable of the Good Samaritan. He says, a man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. He fell among robbers who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now, by chance, a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him, he passed on the other side. So likewise, a Levite came to the place and saw him pass on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to him where he was. And he had compassion. See, Jews and Samaritans beefed, but this Samaritan loved the Jew because he looked past the beef and saw him as valuable as a human being. He said, no, you're not valuable because we hate each other. You are actually valuable, not because of your background, but because you're made in the image of God. He healed his wounds, saw compassion on him, brought him to an inn and took care of him and covered the cost, even if he never would get the love back.
Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor? And Jesus says, said that to the man. And the man said, the one who showed him mercy. Jesus said to him, you go and do likewise. I think that's powerful. And I heard a quote the other day from Dr. Martin Luther King when he preached his sermon, he brought up a question. He says, you know, I never understood why that kind of behavior was happening on that road that was known. That road that they went down on that road was known for behavior like that. Why was that known? You and I are called to do what? Do justice, love, kindness, and walk humbly with our God.
And Micah 6.
It closes out Martha and Mary. Now, as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she sat up to him and said, lord, do you not care that my sisters left me to serve alone? The Lord answered her, martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. And Mary has chosen the good portion which will not be taken away from her. Here's the thing again. Good things for God are not necessarily bad. But you jeopardize your faith when your faith begins to be in the things that you do for God. Rather than allowing God's love and His Word to fuel your life of obedience. God's love for you and His Word should fuel your life of obedience. And Mary chose a good portion, which was to sit at his feet and receive his teaching. See, Martha was so stressed about how much she could. Do you ever get around those people that you just want to impress because you care about them, to like you so much and you're trying to this, that and the other. And he's like, martha, Martha, it's okay. I see you and I love you and I acknowledge that you're trying to do these things. But. But listen, if you'll just sit at my feet and listen to my words, you will find real life there and that will fuel you. Because I pray that Luke 10 was encouraging to you and we'll see you guys tomorrow for Luke chapter 11. Hey, thank you guys so much for watching the Luke series. Episode: Luke Series Chapter 10 (EP 158)
Host: Bryce Crawford
Date: December 10, 2025
In this episode, Bryce Crawford continues his deep-dive "Luke Series," focusing on Chapter 10 of the Gospel of Luke. The discussion centers around Jesus sending out the seventy-two disciples, the significance of their mission, the parable of the Good Samaritan, and the visit with Martha and Mary. Bryce explores major Christian themes such as evangelism, humility, mercy, prioritizing one’s relationship with Christ, and the heart of service over performance.
On Evangelism:
"Not only should you go out, but he says, also, pray earnestly for the Lord of harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Is God calling you to go out and reach people in your school, at your workplace, in another country? What is he calling you to do?" [03:53]
On Rejoicing in Salvation:
"Do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you. But rejoice that your names are written in heaven." [06:24, citing Jesus]
On Genuine Relationship with God:
"All things have been handed over to me by my Father. And no one knows who the Son is except the Father or the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son choose to reveal him." [07:17, quoting Jesus]
On Service vs. Relationship:
"Rather than allowing God's love and His Word to fuel your life of obedience. God's love for you and His Word should fuel your life of obedience...if you'll just sit at my feet and listen to my words, you will find real life there and that will fuel you." [10:36]
Bryce wraps up with encouragement for listeners to not rely solely on his podcast or others, but to dig deeply into the Scripture for themselves.
"The ultimate heart is so that you go and read this word. Don't rely on the podcast, you rely on the word of God and the Holy Spirit." [11:18]
He hints at the next episode (Luke 11) and thanks listeners for their faithful following.
