I'm Bryce and today we're at the finale, last episode of the Luke series in Luke chapter 24. As I pray, the series has been an encouragement. But as always, to end this finale, we gotta get Elf Dylan in here one more time. Can we get Elf Dylan in the room?
Elf Dylan
Merry Christmas, Bryce, One last time.
Bryce (Host)
Thank you so Much. I appreciate that.
Elf Dylan
Well, all right, we'll go with this one.
Bryce (Host)
I guess this is what we're waiting on.
Elf Dylan
This is the finale.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Here we go. No tear.
Bryce (Host)
Toilet paper.
Elf Dylan
It doesn't rip.
Bryce (Host)
What's this for?
Elf Dylan
You could prank somebody with it.
Bryce (Host)
You could. A prop. I'm not gonna lie.
Elf Dylan
It's a prank gift.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
I'm not gonna lie.
Bryce Crawford
Elf.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Dylan, I appreciated your heart.
Bryce (Host)
I appreciated everything that you've done. I appreciate all the gifts. This might be the worst one you've given me.
Bryce Crawford
You can take that with you. Take it back. I don't want it anymore. Whatever. Go back to the North Pole, elf.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Dylan.
Bryce Crawford
What a waste.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Well, anyways, we'll get into the Word of God today. Chapter 24, verse 1.
Bryce Crawford
First day of the week. At early dawn, they went to the.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. When they went in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men. Two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, why do you seek the living among the dead?
Bryce (Host)
He is not here, but has risen.
Bryce Crawford
See, if Jesus Christ did not die.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Then he would be no different than you and I.
Bryce Crawford
He would be just like every other.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
False prophet from every religion.
Bryce Crawford
Not worthy of worship, not worthy of being followed.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
But he has defeated the things that we can't avoid in this life, sin and death. Remember how he told you while he was still in Galilee, verse 7, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified on the third day. So now they're reminding them.
Bryce (Host)
Hey, you remember when he foretell, foretold all of these things?
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Yeah. Remember that? It happened. And they remembered his words.
Bryce (Host)
And returning from the tomb, they told all these things to the 11 and to all the rest.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary, the mother of James and the other women with them who told.
Bryce (Host)
These things to the apostles.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe him then. But Peter rose and ran to the tomb, stooping and looking in. He saw the linen clothes by themselves.
Bryce (Host)
And he went home marveling at what.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Had happened that very day. Two men of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself drew near and went to them. But their eyes were Kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, what is this conversation that you were holding with.
Bryce (Host)
Each other as you walk?
Co-host or Guest Speaker
And they stood still and looking sad. So he revealed himself to two people. And then one of them named Cleopas. Cleopas. Cleopas answered him, saying, are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not.
Bryce (Host)
Do the things that have happened in these days?
Co-host or Guest Speaker
And he said to them, what things? And they said to him concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet, mighty indeed in the word before God and all people, and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death and crucified him. We had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things had happened. Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb earlier in the morning, and when they didn't find his body, they came back saying that they had seen even a vision of angels who said he was alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it, just as the women said, but they did not see you, saying, yeah, it's pretty crazy.
Bryce Crawford
This guy that we followed, you've sent.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
From God, and he was God.
Bryce Crawford
And then he died.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
And we're all bummed about it, but a few of our friends said that everything was cool, but, I mean, they said he was alive, but we don't believe it. And he said them, oh, foolish ones and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory? And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them and all.
Bryce (Host)
The scriptures, the things concerning himself. So they drew near into the village which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, but they urged him strongly, saying.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.
Bryce (Host)
So he went in to stay with.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Them, and when he was at the table with them, he took bread and blessed it and broke it and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognized him.
Bryce (Host)
Jesus does something powerful at the dinner table. And I think this is an encouragement for me and for all believers when it comes to sharing the gospel.
Bryce Crawford
If you're struggling to share the gospel.
Bryce (Host)
Or having godly conversations with people, just take someone out to dinner.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
No phones.
Bryce (Host)
Put your phones away.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
You'll learn a lot about someone, become really good friends with someone just over.
Bryce (Host)
A meal at a dinner table. Thanksgiving doesn't just have to be a holiday. It can be A weapon for the Gospel. It can be a weapon against sin. It can be a weapon against temptation.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
And it is when they broke bread that Jesus opened their minds to the Scriptures. And they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight.
Bryce (Host)
And they said to each other, did.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened us the Scriptures? And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem.
Bryce (Host)
And they found the 11.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
And those who were with them gathered.
Bryce (Host)
Together, saying, the Lord has risen indeed and has appeared to Simon. And they told what had happened on the road and how he was known to them in breaking bread.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them and said to him, peace to you. But they were startled and frightened and thought that they saw a spirit and said to them, why are you troubled? And why do your doubts arise in your heart? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones. You see, I have. So he said, his physical body says, look at the wounds, look at my side, look at my hands. It's me, I'm Jesus. When he said this, he showed them his hands, and they still disbelieved, but they were joy, and they marveled. And the Greek and Hebrew for the joy and marveling would mean.
Bryce (Host)
It would be like a magic trick, like they were amazed.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
He said, have you anything to eat? And they gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it before them. And he said to them, these are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled. Then he opened their minds to understanding the Scriptures again at the dinner table.
Bryce (Host)
Breaking bread, he opens their minds.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
He said, thus it is written that.
Bryce Crawford
Christ should suffer and on the third.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
Day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sin should be proclaimed in his name to all the nations beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I'm sending the promise of.
Bryce (Host)
My Father upon you.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
But stay in the city until you.
Bryce (Host)
Are clothed in power on high. The promise being the Holy Spirit. And to close out, Luke chapter 24. And he led them out as far as Bethany. And lifting up their hands, he blessed them well.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
He blessed him.
Bryce (Host)
He parted from them and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they were continually in the temple, blessing God. This narrative of Luke flows incredibly well with the Book of Acts and that will conclude our series with the Book of Luke.
Co-host or Guest Speaker
I don't want you guys to just.

Take this serious and never read your bibles again.
