Welcome to the carpool podcast with Kelly.
Liz
I feel like I relate more to a 16 year old than I do to a mom of a 16 year old, but I fear as though that's not true.
Kelly
And Liz, a roofer came to my house. He had to fix my roof. And I opened the door and he goes, oh, is your mom or dad home? I said, no, sir, I'm the homeowner. I'm actually a mother of two, but thank you so much. Your mom. Time off starts now.
Liz
Welcome back to the carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz. And I'm just so excited to, like, be behind the mic with my sis.
Kelly
Sisters on the mic.
Liz
The one episodes has been nice so we can focus on other things, but, you know, then we have to jam a lot into one episode. I don't know, I kind of miss it. I'm going back and forth, you know.
Kelly
I just think that, like, summer is, like, hard because I don't know when we would have the time to record a second one. Just because, you know, your kids not being in school and all of that. But, yeah, I miss it. I'll be ready. I think I'll be ready to go back when we're ready to go back.
Liz
Totally. But anyway, we have so much to get soon. Today's episode, just, like, a lot of catching up to do, a lot of industry news, and just like, all things podcasting. The most pressing thing, though, is I have a really big trip coming up in a couple of weeks. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to it. I'm not looking forward to it, mainly because Elizabeth's not going and I. You guys know I don't enjoy traveling at all. Not my thing. Just like, I get stressed out. I just. I don't have the travel itch, you know, I am excited. I'm going to Dallas for work. Like, it's just. It's very much a work trip. I'm excited about the work I'm doing, but I'm traveling without Elizabeth for three nights, mind you. Three nights, mind you.
Kelly
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it's hard. It's. It's hard. And I'm not going because ultimately, it's not something that I. You need. Like, it's. I would just be standing there watching her, like, doing the thing that she has to do. And it actually is good timing too, because I will be moving out of my house that week because our renovation is starting. So it's just. It's not. It's not the right time. And I'm Sorry. And, like, literally, if I wasn't going to be moving my entire family out of my house, I maybe would. I would maybe try and do it just to help you.
Liz
But no, see, I would make you. I would make you do it if it was just for the house. I'm not making you do it because of the Sloan and the breast milk. Just so you know, like, that's where I'm putting the level of priority. Like, I'd make you wait on the house because that's how bad I feel. Like, I need you. But I'm doing this for my goddaughter.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Let me be clear. Not for you. Okay.
Kelly
For my granddaughter, Sloan. Yeah. She needs her. She needs her mommy.
Liz
I'm doing it for Bologna. But anyway, also say. So I bring that up because it's like three major filming days. Major filming days. Like, I'm talking a. A crew. It's giving crew, it's giving production, and I could not be more in my ugly era right now.
Kelly
No.
Liz
I need it to be studied. And don't even try to tell me it's because of my cycle because, like, I'm just.
Kelly
I think there's something there.
Liz
I know. I. Maybe, maybe not. But, like, how can. Some days, some months, I'm like, oh, I like how I'm doing my hair like this. I've been air wrapping my hair. Oh, now my hair just doesn't hold a curl anymore.
Kelly
I know.
Liz
Oh, now, like, that makeup just, like, doesn't go on my skin like it used to. Oh. Now just like, I look horrible and everything. And like, some weeks I look like in this. This. I've been. I've been in this era. And we talk about this a lot. And, like, you know what? I know this. If this isn't for you, it's not for you. Congrats on not having an ugly era. But, like, it is like, I can't find a way out of here. And I've gone. I've tried everything, and I'm just like, I don't know what to do.
Kelly
Yeah. Yeah.
Liz
It makes me want to go chop off my hair. I do think that would help.
Kelly
No, I think that would hurt. Yeah. Situation. I do think it has to do with your cycle. And you're like, it doesn't have to do with my cycle because I feel like I've been in it forever. I just do feel as though it repeats every.
Liz
Well, I also can't live my life like this, though. I can't.
Kelly
This is. This is the. This is the cross we bear. As women. I don't know what to tell you.
Liz
And I just have.
Kelly
And hey, I meant it as well. You know what I'm doing. You know how desperate I am. I booked a. An appointment with my esthetician because I'm like, tell me what laser shaver facial pokey thing I need on my face to get it to look different than it currently is, because I don't know what it is.
Liz
Oh, my gosh, Elizabeth. It's just. It's exhausting being a woman some days. And I also fear. I fear we're old.
Kelly
No, I'm definitely noticing that. Yeah. No, I'm like, things are hurting. Things are not bouncing back in the way that they once did.
Liz
Like, the lines are fine. You know, the lines are fine.
Kelly
Whatever. I don't care.
Liz
No. And I'm gonna age gracefully. Like I have. I don't want to. I want to look my age. I want to look good for my age. That's all I'm after. I'm just after looking good for my age. I'm just telling you something's wrong. And I think I'm probably. I think my actionable steps are. I'm gonna get my nails done. I think that will help.
Kelly
Yeah, it won't hurt.
Liz
Nothing will hurt. I am going to get a spray tan for this event and I might try to go get a real blowout.
Kelly
Like in Dallas.
Liz
I guess I could. No, I probably don't have time because it's like eight hour filming days.
Kelly
Oh, my.
Liz
Yeah, they capped it at eight hours.
Kelly
Woof.
Liz
I know.
Kelly
Bring your air up with you.
Liz
I know. It's gonna be really fun. I can't really tell you guys what I'm doing, but I'm going to dealerships. Like, it's gonna be razzle dazzle. Like.
Kelly
No, it's gonna be great. You're gonna love it. You're gonna be energized.
Liz
I'm gonna. It's going to energize me in a way that's insane. But I've gotta find outfits. I've just. I've got a lot to do.
Kelly
For the record, I think you look great. And I'm staring at you and me in the camera, and I feel like you're looking good.
Liz
Thank you. I feel like you're looking good.
Kelly
Thank you. Maybe we're just our own worst critic.
Liz
Well, I think that's definitely true. I think you have to look. And do you ever think, like, as especially someone like an influencer. I don't think we were designed to look at ourselves. This much.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Like, think about the olden days when they're just, like. Was. Like, you'd maybe, like, catch your. Like, maybe you'd catch a reflection in the water every couple of months.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And, like, that was just it. And, like, you didn't have to look at yourself all the time.
Kelly
Yeah. Or, like, even worse than that. Look back at pics. Old pictures of you.
Liz
Look back at old pictures of you.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Yeah. That's kind of crazy.
Kelly
Toxic. Anyway, neither here nor there. Speaking of influencers, you know, my favorite influencer is at the moment.
Liz
I'm so happy you brought this up. Oh, my gosh, you guys, I'm sorry. Today. Today's episode is us on a FaceTime. This is all you're getting. This is. It's just us on a FaceTime with industry news and digital. Arthur, there's a new influencer breaking on the scene, and we have been blowing up all of our sisters to start posting for a. For a multitude of reasons.
Kelly
One, like Grayson. More like, you're.
Liz
You're darling, you're interesting. Like, just. It's a great, like, it could be a great, like, side hustle career for you. Like, just start posting and they won't do it.
Kelly
They won't.
Liz
Grayson's. Grayson's dabbling. Grayson's actually going viral on TikTok right now. Did you know this?
Kelly
No. For what?
Liz
Oh, my gosh. This is a funny story. Okay, so Craig, our brother Craig and Grayson both work at the BMW store, and they. Craig took a deposit, like, a $3,000 deposit on this car. The car came in. The guy has ghosted him. Like, the guy. Like, he. Craig has the money. Like, the car is here. It has been weeks, and the guy will not respond, not reach out. So Craig eventually was like.
Kelly
Craig's reached out to family. Like, Craig is, like, trying to get a hold of this guy.
Liz
So eventually, Craig types in his name plus obituary to be like, did the guy die?
Kelly
Did he find anything?
Liz
No. And Grayson took a video, and it said, like, Googling your Custer's name plus obituary instead of just accepting the fact that they ghosted you and it's going viral. LinkedIn commented. Coca Cola commented. What?
Kelly
I didn't know. I'm not on tick tock. Wait, how many. How many likes does it have?
Liz
115,000. Wow. I know.
Kelly
Why didn't she post that on Instagram?
Liz
Right? Because she's. I don't know. Hopefully she's listening to this.
Kelly
For the record, they're not. Grayson and Sydney are not our favorite influencers.
Liz
They could be.
Kelly
They could be, but they're not.
Liz
But guess who looked around and said, I could use some of that?
Kelly
Our brother's girlfriend, Charlotte. Who? You guys, we have one brother. There it was. It's so scary when you have a one brother and it's like four sisters and like, who's gonna be the one that our brother brings home? Like, we have to vibe with her. She has to vibe with a lot of personalities. Like, so scary. Charlotte couldn't have picked her better. Couldn't, could not have designed someone better to fit into our family and to be dating our brother. I'm so thankful.
Liz
It's actually unbelievable that, that, it's actually unbelievable that we've landed her.
Kelly
We. We landed her.
Liz
Charlotte. We are obsessed with her. And I remember when her and Craig started dating, when we fell in love. I'm like, listen. And I just, I told her this and Craig, I'm sorry, I was like, he has, he's gonna fall some short on a few things. Like I said, I will pick up the slack. Like, please, if he, whatever he can't do, rely on me, I will be there. Like, I will pick up the slack. I will be like the best sister in law because like you have to be in this family.
Kelly
Yeah. We adore her. We couldn't think more highly of her. And she is, she loves our brother. Every time she talks about Craig, she starts crying again.
Liz
It's unbelievable.
Kelly
She loves him. We love her. She is the brightest, warmest light you've ever met in your entire life. Get this. She's like 5 10. So she's a tall girly. So she, she was actually Sydney's friend. Sydney and her rode together in high school. She was a year older than Sydney though, so they knew each other through rowing. And then they had a. Sydney and Craig had like, they both had friends over one night to our parents house and they were like, had a little party and that's when Craig and Charlotte hit it off and they've been together ever since. Okay.
Liz
We haven't, we haven't told them the story, so I'm sorry.
Kelly
Sorry.
Liz
Anyway, Charlotte started posting on Instagram and it's nothing. It's not. I wouldn't even say like she's becoming an influencer. It's just like she just started documenting her life. It's like. And that's just what everybody needs to start doing. Just, just document your life. Like stay authentic to yourself. You don't have to like put on a show for people, but just I. Charlotte, she's the girl she has the best. The girl's on a budget. And she looks so expensive, so polished all the time. Every time I compliment her, she's like, oh, it's from Amazon. Her hair extensions from Amazon. She is darling.
Kelly
Her hair extensions are the ones that I bought and wore on my wedding day per her recommendation. Every single time I see her, where's it from Gap? Where's it from? Amazon? And she looks amazing. And she's tall, so she's finding. The tall girl finds. So here's her Instagram. Let me drop it. It's char.tay.fit. she's also a physical therapist and a Pilates instructor.
Liz
So, I mean, she does it all.
Kelly
She does it all.
Liz
She got me on these things because. Because she's just posting on her stories, and I'm like. And it makes me so mad when it doesn't make me mad, but it's like the people in my personal life, like, I hate when I go meet with somebody and they're like, I feel like I know what's up with you because you always post on Instagram. It's like, well, yeah, why don't you post? Like, what do you have? Like, you tell me something then. Like, do you have a fun new Amazon? Fine. Like what? Like, what'd you make for dinner last night? Like, I want to know. I think people think I want to know, like, the major updates. I want to know the littlest updates in people's lives. Because that's what I find interesting. Because that's. That's real life.
Kelly
That's actually what it's applicable to me. Because when she posted these drizzle licious things she found at Whole Foods, I'm like, oh, those look good. Oh, I didn't know that I needed the drizz. Delicious.
Liz
Yeah. She posted a snack she bought at Whole Foods. Okay. Oh, she found them on. She. On Amazon, LinkedIn.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
I bought them. Guess what? They're incredible.
Kelly
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Liz
Their mom took two packs from my house.
Kelly
Yeah, I know. I need to add them to my Amazon cart, actually.
Liz
So all of a sudden, you don't have to follow her because we're telling you to follow her. But, like, it's just really. She's. She's the content I'm consuming right now.
Kelly
She's my favorite influencer. She's currently in Europe with her family. So it's just, like, good content right now. And I love her and I adore her.
Liz
So same.
Kelly
That was our Charlotte Taylor fan podcast moment.
Liz
Charlotte. Charlotte Taylor, fan podcast obsessed. She just looks so, like, she always looks so glowy. Like, she looks an ugly era. Could never find her. No, I need her to drop the skincare routine. Maybe I'll do what she's doing.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Do you have a skincare routine? Like, honestly?
Kelly
No.
Liz
No. Me neither.
Kelly
Wash my face moisturizer. So maybe that's the problem. But it's worked so well for me for so long. I'm telling you, it's the cycle, Kelly.
Liz
I'm telling you, it's the age. Elizabeth. We're in our 30s now.
Kelly
It's just like it's middle aged.
Liz
Life's just not as easy as it was. Getting old's not for the week. No, getting old is not.
Kelly
Mom always says, although, you know what, Kelly? I did function. I did this thing called function health and this blood test. Hold on. I've got two things to say. Because I'm actually aging backwards. Some people are saying this blood test, and it tells you, like, if there's any, like, red flags. And then it also gives you your biological age. So it, it. You calculate your biological age on these, like, certain biomarkers that's in your blood. And my biological age is 18.
Liz
So I'm getting mine.
Kelly
I'm aging backwards. And also, a roofer came to my house. He had to fix my roof. And I opened the door and he goes, oh, is your mom or dad home? I said, no, sir, I'm the homeowner. I'm actually a mother of two. But thank you so much.
Liz
That's like when that girl, the beauty school asked me if I was going to prom. So maybe it's just the beauty's in the eye of the beholder, and roofers and beauty still. Beauty school students think we're stunning.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Yeah. I'm going, I'm going to get my blood work done next week. And I'm like, so, so nervous because, like, if mine doesn't say 18 the.
Kelly
Way, I'll never let you live it.
Liz
Down the way that I will make such drastic lifestyle changes, like, I. It will, it will shake me to my core. It's like I want to know, but I don't. Yeah, 18 is crazy.
Kelly
Yeah. So I know. So this, this health test, I was excited to do it. Nothing. I have to do another round. So, like, not all of the tests have been done, but, like, they've spotted nothing out of the ordinary. Like, nothing crazy. It might kind of be just like a. Which I'm happy to hear that they haven't found anything. But it's also like, oh, so I'm just healthy. So why am I doing it, you know?
Liz
Well, I think it's the peace of mind.
Kelly
Maybe that's just what it is.
Liz
It's just the peace of mind and the bragging rights, I guess.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Overall, how old do you feel like if you had to put an age on yourself?
Kelly
Pregnancy has aged me.
Liz
Right.
Kelly
My workouts are harder. You know, I had to, I was laying on my stomach for a little too long the other day.
Liz
What about just like mentally though?
Kelly
And I had to Google why does my back hurt after laying on my stomach? Um, so I feel about 30.
Liz
Really?
Kelly
Mentally, I feel about 25.
Liz
I was gonna say 25. I feel about 25 mentally. Yeah, I feel about 25 mentally.
Kelly
You know, it's like the reels that are. It's just so funny that I was born in 1990, 94 and I'm 25, but girls who are, were born in 2000 are also 25. It's just weird how that worked out.
Liz
Yeah. It's just how like when are we gonna stop saying that? Like 1990 was 20 years ago.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
When it was like literally so long ago.
Kelly
Woof.
Liz
You know what Tyler and I were thinking about the other day though?
Kelly
What?
Liz
So you know, George is 6, so in 10 years he'll be 16, which is crazy. And I was like, oh, I'll like, I don't know, I have no idea what kind of, I don't know what my theory and strategy is going to be on. Teen vehicles and team vehicles are such a hard topic to cover in general. Just because like everyone has different needs, different budget. Like I, I really don't even like doing teen driver content because I feel like no matter what I say, like it's going to be, everyone's going to center themselves in it. And then for some people it's going to be out of touch. For some people it's going to be like, some people are going to be like, I can't believe you put a teen in a ten year old car. And some people are going to be like, I can't believe you buy it. You buy a 10 year old car for a teen, like it's just like totally different ends of the spectrum. So I don't know what we're going to do, but I, I would, I'm very comfortable with a 10 year old car for a teen. Personal, personally, I probably wouldn't go, I probably don't think I would go much older than 10 years because I just would like to think, get a. I would, I would like the Car to make it through their high school and college years. And then when they become an adult, like, any years after that is, to me, their problem. Like, I'm definitely going to help them buy their first car. But then, like, that's. I. And again, this is. This is just what I think right now. But I was like, what's crazy, Tyler? Is like, in 10 years, like, George will be driving. So, like, the cars on the road, like, a brand new car today could very well be his car. And again, I don't know what we're going to do, but we'll probably end up doing, like, a used, like, little truck because, you know, like, we live in the country. Like, we do farm things. And Tyler was like, well, I don't. Like, I hate the Ford Ranger. Like, I think the Ford Ranger is the ugliest truck. So I think we're going to do a Chevy Colorado. And we're, like, over here, like, planning what? What? But it's kind of like we're looking at the cars for George right now. So basically, I'm car shopping. Basically, I'm car shopping.
Kelly
Wow.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
What about. Maybe he'll drive a slate.
Liz
He will not drive a slate. No, I can tell you with certainty. Can we talk about that for a second?
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Because I recently did the Rachel Cruz podcast and we. I don't. We didn't get to this topic, but I was hoping we would have. But Slate Auto is the Jeff Bezos backed one. Right. So it's a $25,000 new car that's electric and it's electric, but it's got crank windows. And it's. People are, like, idolizing it because it's like, finally, like, what people want. Like, no bells and whistles. You're just getting, like, a basic car for 25 grand. And I find it so interesting, America's appetite for a crappy new car versus a quality used car. If I got 25 grand to spend, I don't give a rip if it's new or if it's 10 years old. Like, I want quality. And it's crazy to me how, like, the wait list for these slate cars is insane.
Kelly
No, I think I actually, I liked. I'm gonna raise my hand and say that I do like the bells and whistles, and I don't like. I don't want Craig windows, and I do want heated seats, and I do want a power tailgate, and I don't want. I'm not interested in the slate at all. I'm not interested in a piecemeal putting the top on like no, I'm okay.
Liz
But to say but you can, you don't. You can get all those things in a pre owned car. There's just. It's very interesting to me and I feel like we talk about it all the time and the problem is other car reviewers just don't. But like a car with a hundred thousand miles on it, I'll say it one more time, is not too many miles. It's not too many miles. The average car on the road, the average car on the road is 11 years old with 150,000 miles on it. The average like it's fine.
Kelly
It's fine. And it, it's almost like, it's almost like a res. Like it almost like it has a resume. Like my sister in law is getting a new. Her and her fiance are getting a new car and she's like what used car can I get? We're trying to. We like this size. We like the size of like a Sorrento but we're trying to stay under 35, 000. I'm like literally you can get any, you can find any car. You just have to go far enough back.
Liz
You can find BMW, you can find.
Kelly
Literally any car you want for that price range. It just depends on how far back you go on the trim level and everything. But she was like they don't want what they currently have because he bought it new and it had some engine issues. So we're afraid that's going to happen again. And it's like then the used markets where you need to stay your point?
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
You can see if it's had any issues because you look at the vehicle history report and you can see these things.
Liz
It's called, it's also called proven reliability.
Kelly
Totally.
Liz
And it's just, it's like, it's like a used Honda CRV versus a new slate. It's like shopping. Here's. I'll put it, I'll put it in this perspective. It's like finding a real wood like chest of drawers versus. Versus a six cube organizer from Target. Totally, totally. It's a. You can get composite board, fake wood or like this walnut dresser. Yeah, I'm after the walnut dresser.
Kelly
I'm after the walnut dresser.
Liz
Right.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
I just think it's very interesting and people also. I wish people would look at. This is just like another topic of discussion but I like need to figure out how to like tell the story on my Instagram because I don't think I've said this enough but if you want to get a new car often. Like me, I like a new car every so often. Like I'm not, I'm not, I'm not looking for a 10 year car. Your girl gets bored. Your girl wants something new.
Kelly
That's you, that's okay.
Liz
And first of all, if that's new, make peace with that and make better make good decisions off of that. I can't lease because I draw too many miles. Okay. Buy a used car because you know how used cars depreciate so much slower. I could go buy a three year old car and get a new car every three years because the things hardly depreciate it or of course it has depreciated but like it's been at a much slower rate versus you go buy a new car, it loses 30%. 30% of its value in the first year.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And you didn't pay off 30 of it, sister. So like you're not getting out of anything.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
It's just very interesting. I'm just a girl after quality and I think that's also just comes with my age.
Kelly
You have, you've bought your fair share of Target cube organizers and you are in your cherry era, Cherry wood era.
Liz
My bear cube share. And how many times did I buy one of those organizers thinking it would change my life? Sometimes they do. And that's not to say there's not a time and a place for them, but it's just I wish people thought about cars sometimes like they think about furniture a little bit more. You don't have to buy new. I actually don't think most people should buy a new car. I think it's a bad investment. Wow.
Kelly
You heard it here first.
Liz
We don't buy new tyler trucks. A 2017.
Kelly
Yeah, yeah. No, Maddie's was used as well, so.
Liz
And you know, we'll see what George gets. I'm thinking little truck for George and I'm thinking like a little like I don't know, I always felt like a Hyundai Tucson for Hattie, but I don't like the new ones and now I'm starting to look with a different eye.
Kelly
What would I put Hattie in right now?
Liz
But I also want to make them share a car for a while too. Like I don't know there's ever. I just, I'm not comfortable advising on it yet. I haven't given it enough thought.
Kelly
You're not there. It's hard to put yourself how I try.
Liz
I. Because let's see, I am 20. How I almost. I'm 25, 31 I feel like I relate more to a 16 year old than I do to a mom of a 16 year old. But I fear as though that's not true. Whoa.
Kelly
That's weird. That's a weird thing. I disagree. I disagree fullheartedly. When we had to go to our career day at our high school, I hated every. I hated every minute of being surrounded by high school girls.
Liz
It was a dark time. I hated was a dark time. Teenagers are tough. I'm really nervous for teenagers. But we'll be okay, right?
Kelly
Yeah. I think George will be great. I'm Hattie. I think will be a challenge.
Liz
I don't think so.
Kelly
You don't?
Liz
I think no. I think I'm. I don't know. They're a little young, but I think I'll be okay till Fred rolls around. I think Fred's gonna kind of rock me. Yeah, rock me a bit.
Kelly
The farewell always does.

Do you want to move on to industry news? Do you have anything else to share?
Kelly
Let me think, let me think. No, I'm ready to move on to industry news.
Liz
Okay. It's kind of in like a really like industry news heavy kind of podcast.
Kelly
Well, this is an automotive podcast, so it's only right.
Liz
Oh, I didn't tell you about George's birthday party. Oh, I mean, you were there, but can I tell the carpoolers birthday party? I'm. I'm always learning and I'm trying to hack the kids birthday party thing and I think normalize, like not necessarily having a system and just kind of going with it a bit, you know. But George was starting sex and we like finally got. I've never like, let my kids have like friends at their birthday party because I'm just like, not much. I'm just not really very much into like other parents and like kids. And I feel like George is at an awkward age though, because it's like you, they're kind of too young to drop off, but it's also like they're too old to watch, you know, so there was just a lot of people there. But I decided to let George have a birthday party and I brought in the reptile guy. Found this guy in my kid's school, Serengeti Steve. If you're in the St. Louis, Illinois area, Serengeti Steve was the most fascinating person in my life. Okay.
Kelly
Excellent.
Liz
And I didn't know much about him. I heard there was a reptile guy who did birthday parties. I sent him an email and booked him and I just was like, and maybe I'm an idiot for just doing that. So he gets up there and he's like, I've been doing. He's like, I do 500 shows a year. You're my third one of the day. And I have five birthday parties. Today. And my jaw hits the floor. I'm like, yeah. Oh, my gosh. And he goes, I spent the first 20 years of my career extracting the venom from poisonous. From venomous snakes for cancer research. My jaw hits the floor. He looks at me and he's like, did you not know that about me? I'm like, no, I didn't know that. It's interesting. And he goes, I made it to the, the Vegas rounds of America's Got Talent. And I hold the world record for, for having a venomous animal in my mouth for the longest, at 17 minutes. My jaw hits the floor. He's like, did you not, like, research me at all before I came? And I'm like, no. I literally, like, had no idea we were getting such a performer. A man who's just in it for the art. Yeah, it's not about the money for him.
Kelly
No, because then he say he made good money doing the venom extraction. Yeah.
Liz
Because I made the joke. I was like, oh, great, you're giving, you know, my son some ideas. Like, I don't really, I can't say. I'm like, looking. I hope George, I don't really care what he does. If that's the career path he wants, it's fine. But the guy goes, oh, no, there's really good money in venom extracting. I'm like, well, I would hope so. Yeah, sounds dangerous. Did you ever get bit? He's like, yep. Had to get airlifted to the hospital. I'm like, okay, okay, okay. Anyway, so he starts the show. It was the best performance I've ever seen.
Kelly
It was excellent.
Liz
He had George entertained. We had. My 13 year old niece was there. She's entertained. My dad glued, asked for the guy's card after, like, he's gonna have him perform and my dad's next. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy shows up at the next central Christmas party.
Kelly
Yeah, yeah.
Liz
Like, dad was obsessed. It was really good.
Kelly
Well, and I just think it's a testament to live entertainment because we have glowing things to say about Serengeti. Steve. We had glowing things to say about the princesses that came to Hattie's birthday party. This four, five, six. This is a very good time. I think we're realizing, to have the entertainment like don't, don't wait.
Liz
Well, and it's a good buffer. I said this part earlier about like the parents coming because everyone could just watch the show. And then the party was over.
Kelly
Yeah. Time for the party.
Liz
It's like, okay, yeah. Like, when they're all like eight. I feel like it'll be more like just come over, have cake and then like go play out in the yard. But I felt like I needed and I just wanted to cap like the same reason. It's like, I don't think I'll have the princesses. I don't think I'll ever have the princesses for Hattie's party again. Because I literally think five, she'll be too old for them. Like, I think four was such a magical age. And I think George, like I need to hold an alligator in my living room at 6 was like perfect.
Kelly
Yeah. No, like, it's crazy. There was like a 20 foot python, like literally in your living room. It was like the craziest thing.
Liz
It was really fun. It was really fun. And you know what we did? Like, of course like that come. That, that of course, like comes with a cost. Like everything else. Like I kept bare bones. Like we had sandwiches and I got a cake from Costco and I went downstairs and grabbed a couple of George's toys and threw it on the cake. And it was like, like one of the most magical days of my life. It was a really good birthday party.
Kelly
It was great. It was very cute.
Liz
Anyway, Industry news.
Kelly
Oh, yeah.
Liz
Okay, now it's time for industry news where I spill the hot tea going on in the auto industry. So if you find yourself at a six year old's birthday party and you're stuck talking to Mark, you know, not Mark, Joey's dad, God forbid. Here are some topics that you could maybe bring up with him. Let's say he drives a Dodge Durango. You could say, hey, did you hear the Dodge Durango is going to soldier in into 2026. What? Yeah, the third generation of the Dodge Durango that first rolled off, that first came out in 2010. How's that? Has outlasted them all. Dodge will once again sell the family SUV with a muscle car attitude for the 2026 model year. People always ask me, why don't you review the Durango? Why don't you review the Durango? And I have done it before. I don't give the Durango a lot of press because it has really bad crash ratings. If you wanted to know the truth. And it's like one of those cars where it's like, I, I don't want to just like do a review and like say bad things about it. But like, I don't think I'd ever buy one personally because of the crash ratings. So I'm hopeful that for 26 they figured out, and they were. And they also discontinued it. So then it was, like, kind of irrelevant because then it was like, I don't like it. Like, they're not coming out with new ones. I'm surprised they're coming back. And now they're bringing back the Durango, which I actually think there is a market for this one, because the Durango is. They're gonna do, first of all, Dodge Durango.
Kelly
Good name.
Liz
Dodge was a good name.
Kelly
Good name.
Liz
They're gonna. They have, like, a Hellcat version, which is, like, a super sassy, like, SUV. So they're gonna do the Durango SRT Hellcat with five. With 710 horsepower, which is. Which is a lot of horsepower. So it kind of feels like it's for the dad, like, the. Like the. Like the dad who had a Corvette, who then had kids, and, like, now this is what he wants to drive. Like, I do think there's a micro market, but a market nonetheless for it. I think the crash rains to be a little bit better.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
But I'm. I'm. All I want to see is Stellantis to succeed. Like, I just want them to come out. I want them to figure it out. And I'm really shocked to see how much. I feel like Jeep has kind of fumbled the ball.
Kelly
It is shocking.
Liz
And I know we talk about Jeep a lot, but, like, to let the Bronco just dominate. Like, now. Look up Bronco. Look up Bronco sales versus Wrangler sales in 2024. I want to just, like, know how many. You know, if the numbers are as close as what I think they are.
Kelly
Okay, let's see. In 2024, the Jeep Wrangler outsold the Ford Bronco.
Liz
Okay, but by how much?
Kelly
40,000 units.
Liz
See, that doesn't feel like a lot because the Bronco didn't exist up, like, three years ago.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Is what I'm saying.
Kelly
Okay. The Bronx Q1, 2025 sales. The Bronco sales grew by 35% in Q1, while the Wranglers sales were nearly flat. So the Wrangler still sold. Still sold about 5,000 more units than the Bronco in Q1. But that's, like, not an improvement for the Wrangler, but it is a 35% improvement for the Broncos. Coming for it.
Liz
The Broncos coming for it. And I wonder. Also, like, now we have the new. The problem was. The problem is the Toyota ones are just too expensive. Like, they're not. They're kind of hard to even come up with. And Chevy couldn't have Fumbled the ball more with not. And Doug DeMuro talked about this on his podcast. But like, the Blazer.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Like, the Blazer could have been a Bronco, it could have been a Wrangler, and instead it's. I'm sorry. It's the ugliest SUV I've ever seen in my life.
Kelly
It does nothing for me.
Liz
It's like. It has the most forgetful face.
Kelly
I literally have to Google it. Yeah. It's just.
Liz
It's an Equinox. What is it?
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
Okay. That's the best. That's the best you could do? All to say is, back to Stellantis. I just want them to figure it out. Like, Chrysler's 100th birthday is coming up, and they only have the Pacifica right now. And people don't believe me when I tell them that. They're like, no, they have other cars. No, they don't. They just. They literally at Chrysler, like, the biggest name ever. I feel like if they just put out. And people are so Chrysler loyal because every. Like, so many people's parents worked at Chrysler for, like, 25 years or their grandpa did just come out with something. Chrysler, like, why doesn't Jeep chill out? No one asked for your Wagoneer. No one asked for your wagoneer.
Kelly
Chrysler in 2026, they are bringing a new model.
Liz
What is it?
Kelly
A revived 300 model, which is like a sedan.
Liz
I think that's a good idea.
Kelly
And I think Pacifica and potentially new models based on the Hallison concept.
Liz
That. That word makes me a little nervous. That would make me. Makes me a little nervous. So I don't think it said it could return. It's not. I'm not seeing, like, an official yet.
Kelly
No. I think the 300 will be reimagined. I think the 300 is happening. It sounds like the 300 is happening, but nonetheless.
Liz
Nonetheless. And the Durango's back, which then you have, like, Dodge and Ram split. Like, they're just. Stellantis is. It's a mess.
Kelly
Yeah, it's a mess. Yeah.
Liz
Okay, hold on. Let me go to my next story. Okay, this is, like, kind of controversial, but, you know, let's just. We. I mean, you can only avoid it for so long. Tesla shares rebound in May as Elon Musk steps back from government role. This is from car dealership Guy News. Tesla shares surged over 22% in May, despite lower sales numbers in China and Europe, as Elon Musk wrapped up his controversial stint leading the doge, the Department of Government Efficiency. According to CNBC for context, President Trump marked the end of Musk's time in a as a special government employee running Doge. However, Mus says he'll continue working a day or two per week on the government on government matters and keeping his White House office. The CEO promised on Tesla's recent earnings call that his government time would drop significantly by the end of May.
Kelly
Dang. I should have brought bought stock in Tesla when it was down.
Liz
It says this is like what they're watching. Car dealership guy Musk's return to businesses. Business comes at a critical time for Tesla. Despite the May gains, the company is still down 14% for the year. The question now is whether his renewed focus can reverse the sales slide in key markets. It is. So whatever side you're on in this, it is very interesting to see, like, you know, like, I saw like, memes where it was like driving a Tesla, like, used to be like a very, like, liberal green thing to do, and now like, a cyber truck's like the most like, right wing conservative car that you can drive. Like it is. So, I mean, the, the cybertruck was already a statement, but now, like, I would feel, I, I would never feel this way about a car. And I would have pause with reviewing one.
Kelly
I would not drive one.
Liz
I would not drive one. But I would even have paused. Like, I felt like if I did content on one, I would get a lot of hate comments.
Kelly
Yeah, no, it's crazy for a car. It's crazy the way that they were like, target. I don't know if they're still targeted, but I saw that they had been like, targeted. And it's like, you don't know that person. Like, you don't know that person's political stance based off of the car that they bought probably three years ago. And they were getting like, it's just crazy.
Liz
It'll be interesting to see though, if America will have some amnesia with it.
Kelly
Because if it'll just swing back.
Liz
And here's the problem. The Tesla's a good car. And I'm, I mean, I don't, I get that people don't want to hear that, but the Tesla's a good car. It's got the best, by far the best charging infrastructure. And they are, they're incredible. I mean, I mean, I'm not even talking about the cyber truck, the Model Y, the Model X. Like, no, those are the best. I think those are some of the best electric cars out there right now.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And if I had to buy an electric car, I probably would buy a Model X just Again, because. Because I can separate the art from the artist, first of all.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And like, you kind. And it's just crazy that we have, like, people can't even, like, name the CEOs of, like, other car brands.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
You know, Let alone, like, their political stance.
Kelly
Yeah. No, that's interesting. I don't know. Yeah. And you just have to remember.
Liz
But here's what you guys remember about CEOs. And again, this is like kind of like a really spicy thing I'm gonna say and I'm gonna generalize. But, like, they're all just there to make money. Okay. Because, like, everyone was so. Like, just look at what they've done to the EV world. Like, when Biden was in office, they were all like, we're gonna go green by 2035. Like, we're going green. We're doing this now. It's been crickets now. Everyone's coming back on that now. I mean, it's so. It's just like, they're just gonna do. They're gonna do the loopholes with whatever president puts whatever into place because they're in the art of making money.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And I just. Truthful. And this is just like. I mean, I just have a hard time believing that any CEOs of these car brands, like, have pure. Completely pure intentions. Like, I just. I don't know.
Kelly
I mean, they're not hired to. Yeah. They're hired to make the brand money.
Liz
And so, like, when they were getting a ton of government incentives for going green, for going green air quotes and for building EVs, they were all about it. And now as those incentives change, now they're all getting incentives for. For keeping their. For bringing their manufacturing here. So then that's what they're doing. So, like, it's just also say. Is like, it's just interesting to see. And again, Elon does it to himself because, like, he has to be so into it and so controversial.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
But it's just, like, interesting to see they all just kind. Because they just have to. Because they're just all in the business of making money. They're all in the business of running successful companies.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And you have to work with the government to run success. That successful of a company. I don't think you should talk to Mark about that.
Kelly
Yeah, I don't. Yeah.
Liz
You know, especially if he drives a cyber truck. I think you should just kind of keep this at arm's length. But. Yeah.
Kelly
Okay. Well, are you ready for ditch the drive through where we give you an easy dinner recipe to Mix it up to get you out of your dinner rut.
Liz
Yup. Okay, I have ditched the drive throughs. I've got some tangible takeaways, and I've just got some vibes in general.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
What are you looking at?
Kelly
Nothing. Nothing. I'm waiting to hear your ditch the drive through.
Liz
Do you remember what I made you the other day when you came to my house?
Kelly
I do remember.
Liz
Okay, so go to. Is all these everywhere? I think it is. I think we all have Aldi's.
Kelly
They're at Trader Joe's as well. Oh. Oh.
Liz
What?
Kelly
No, sorry. I thought you were talking about the other thing you made me the other day.
Liz
No, I'm talking about the other thing.
Kelly
Oh, okay. The Aldi sink. Okay.
Liz
The Aldi's thing. Anyway, I got these. I actually got this recipe from. Not recipe, this 5 from Debt Free Mom. Aldi sells these, like, chicken patties. Like, first of all, everyone knows that chicken patty day at school was the best day. That's just. That's the universal truth. Aldi sells these chicken patties. One patty is 280 calories and 32 grams of protein. Like, it's a filling patty. They're a good size. You get a little hamburger bun, you get some sassy pickles, and you get some Chick fil a sauce done. And, like, when I say it tastes the same as Chick fil A, like, Chick fil a selling their sauce, I think was. I think it probably pencils in the long term. But, like, I think it's going to hurt sales. I also think it probably hurts some sales because it totally tastes like Chick fil a. Don't you think?
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
I mean, you can't do the fries.
Kelly
Perfect. It was perfect. Yeah. You can't do the fries. Well, but I'm like, you made it for me. It was great. I'm like, wrap that up in parchment paper, take it on the go. And now you've got a picnic lunch.
Liz
Wrap it up in parchment. I want to figure out how to, like, do, like, the wrapped hot sandwiches.
Kelly
Yeah. Maybe it's foil.
Liz
Maybe it's foil.
Kelly
I think it's foil.
Liz
Not foil. But it's not foil. It's like soft foil.
Kelly
Yeah. So what is that? Soft foil?
Liz
Get some paper foil and wrap it up, and then just feel like you're eating a Chick fil a sandwich. I mean, it's George's favorite thing that I make.
Kelly
Yeah, it was really. It was really filling and easy to make. Most importantly, it's easy to make, but.
Liz
It'S also the Epitome of ditch the drive through. We went to the drive through the other night. I have to tell you this. We were at the farm yesterday and Tyler and I were in no. No man's land. It's like five o' clock. Mm. Kids are hungry. If we go home, they'll fall asleep. If we don't go home and we stay at the farm till seven, we'll put em in our jammies, then we'll transfer them to bed. So we obviously opted to stay at the farm. I ran into town and went to this restaurant called Lion's Choice, which is like a roast beef fast food restaurant in the Midwest. Guess how much it cost.
Kelly
For your whole family? I'm gonna say.
Liz
And mom and dad.
Kelly
And mom and dad. Okay. I'm gonna say it was $60.
Liz
65.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
I was like, I almost wanted to be like, never mind. And I was gonna drive to all. Like, I couldn't. I thought it was gonna be 35. Am I just an idiot or the drive through. I don't. We don't live. We live in a. We live. I live in a very rural area. So like we're not getting drive through during the week. Like I'll get it for lunch. But like, I can't tell you the last time I like went and got drive through for my entire family. We just don't have anywhere around us to go.
Kelly
Well, that's what. Debt wasn't a debt free mom we were talking with about like, everyone's complaining about grocery prices. Hello. It is so expensive. And it's. And actually the fast food stuff is the easiest stuff to recreate at your own house.
Liz
Totally.
Kelly
All you need is an air fryer.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
And you get the fries. Yeah. And you get the patties and you get the buns and you get all in bulk and you always have the sauce.
Liz
I was shooketh to my core. I mean, I literally almost wanted to be like, never mind. But I just, I did it. And then, then I told her, this doesn't even feel worth it because now I feel like I paid 65. 65 to just get my kids to go to bed at seven that night. So I was like, we better freaking have a good date night. Like turn on the Mormon Wives. Like, let's do something.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Well, have you watched the Mormon Wives?
Kelly
No, I haven't. I'm still watching Desperate Housewives and I really don't have any time to. I don't really watch TV anymore. And I used to be such a TV consumer. I'm like, so Sad. I don't have time. Yeah.
Liz
You'll go back to it.
Kelly
Yeah, I just finished it.
Liz
Overall, I think it's.
Kelly
When are you watching TV?
Liz
Like, when the kids. Like, from like, 9 to 10, like an hour a day.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Sometimes I fall asleep. Sometimes I only make it 30 minutes. But I do, like, I need to be able to put my phone on and decompress first. Like, I have to just.
Kelly
You have to reward yourself with big screen. You have to put a little screen down to reward.
Liz
You know, in the Mormon Wives, like, they. They're very much a phone down kind of show because you don't want to miss a thing.
Kelly
Are all the episodes out or are they coming out?
Liz
No, they're all out.
Kelly
They're all out.
Liz
I just finished. I just finished. I'm fiercely, Team Taylor. Fiercely, Team Taylor. Wow. Can I just give a little, like. Can I just give, like, a little spoiler review if people have watched it? Yeah, because if you watch it. Spillers and review coming up. So, like, the whole thing is, like, Taylor and Demi, like, are feuding. And Demi definitely, I think, like, new. Like, she even said she's like, I was the fan favorite the first season, which she was, and it just totally went to her head. And, like, Taylor or not, like, Taylor's point is, it's like, first of all, I'm the only one making this show interesting. She's like, I'm putting my entire life on the line. So we have ratings. So you guys have a show and you guys have a platform. And I honestly can't believe Taylor's not more. Like, I gave you everything you have. Because she literally did. Like, they got the show because of her. And not only did they get the show because of her, she continues to be the most polarizing, interesting character of the entire show.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And so she's like, if anyone should be getting paid more, like, I should be. I'm like, I can't believe you're not getting paid more.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Like, she needs to. She needs this. That girl. The salary bump.
Kelly
Yeah. Know your worth, Taylor. Like, know your worth for the absolute unhinged drama you bring.
Liz
And that's what I'm saying. It's like, oh, my gosh. Aside from that, though, I did feel like the season overall, I had a little bit more of, like, a pit with it because they just, like, they're so young and their kids are so young, and I don't like, like, these women are going through, like, divorces and, like, infidelity and, like, all these crazy things to, like, have two and three year olds and it gives me a little bit of a pit.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
I mean, I wouldn't. The way I wouldn't. I can't imagine, like, wanting. And this is just kind of being mean, but, like, I can't imagine wanting fame that much that I'd put my family through that fame and money that much. Like, put their. Their families through what they're putting their families through. And that's coming from an influencer.
Kelly
Yeah. I don't know the full context.
Liz
It just feels like a completely different level of, like, things they're talking about. And, like, it's just. I just can't imagine my kids ever having those videos of me on the Internet.
Kelly
Yeah. Yeah.
Liz
You know?
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
I don't know.
Kelly
I don't know. How's Whitney this season? I really couldn't stand her. I mean, I know that was the point. Like, she was the villain in the last season, but, like, even now when I see videos of her, I just, like, roll my eyes, you know?
Liz
I actually like Whitney and I actually think she is one of the more reserved, polished, just less. And this is gonna sound crazy because I've seen her content, less raunchy ones. Like, there's this girl, Layla. Do you know who she is? She's, like the really skinny one. I just cannot believe that, like, she is. This is. If you have kids in the car, don't play this next part. She's just like, I can't even say. I can't even say it out loud because, like, I don't want my kids to, like, hear me say these words out loud. I'm sorry. Like, wow. And she's just. She's talking about a thing that she's never had.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
And she thinks it's funny because she's had two kids and she's never had one of these things.
Kelly
Starts with an O. O. Oh, right, Right. Yeah.
Liz
And, like, that's a storyline. And I'm like, that is, first of all, like, an insane storyline. That's an insane thing to say.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And, like, are you so uninteresting that you're gonna bring out something so personal as, like, your big thing for the. And then she's like, it finally happened. Like, I don't. I am not. I don't need to be invested in this. I don't care.
Kelly
Wow.
Liz
And that just gave me, like, a lot of ick, too. Like, I like some of the petty drama. Like, I mean, it's my guilty pleasure, but, like, I don't need to be disgusted. And I There's some things where I'm like, this is disgusting.
Kelly
I saw. No, I haven't seen this new season, and I don't even know what podcast it was. I think I saw, like, a clip of a podcast on my reels. Like, I. I don't know, but it was. Some podcast was talking about it, and I think they kind of had, like, a similar sentiment to you. And they're like. It's like, these girls, since they were, like, so reserved, like, growing up in the. In the church, they didn't experience these, like, conversations that you have with girls. Like, when you're in high school and you're like. Or even in college and, like, you're kind of, like, exactly boring and experiencing new things. Like, they never, like, they're all having these conversations for the first time, and they're, like, in their 30s. And so it just feels, like, very immature, and it's just, like, kind of weird. Again, I don't. Again, I haven't seen it. I don't know what the podcast was referring to, so maybe that's not relevant.
Liz
I'm just kind of calling BS on that. I'm kind of. I mean, I went to Catholic school my entire life. Like, I could also make the argument that I was reserved and I don't feel the need to be so childish and disgusting online. And I liked the drama, but then they just, like, have to do these, like. And there was some really, like, interesting story lines. Like, one girl's, like, she got pregnant, and then the. Her. The. The dad ended up dying while she was pregnant. And, like, that was interesting storyline. Another girl was, like, sharing. Like, some of it was deep and some of the drama was good. Like, one girl, like, trash on the other girl's hair salon. Like, I found all of that interesting. But then they just, like, had all these, like, fillers and, like, all these wow factors that, like, to me, I just didn't think added to the plot of the show. And it's made me, like, lose a lot of respect for, like, I just, like, didn't need to say their. Their burlesque show that they went to. Like, it's just the trope of, like, there are these church girls going wild. Like, this is not the Amish gone wild. Like, it's not that these girls are just. I don't know. I. I didn't like it as much as season.
Kelly
Maybe I won't watch it.
Liz
I'm telling you. Just get a little bit icky. And this one girl's, like, so depressed and now pregnant and on the brink of divorce and has two kids, three and under. And, like, this other girl, it's just, like.
Kelly
It's depressing.
Liz
It's depressing. And this. These girls are trying to, like, say that they think that she lied about something. It's like, can we not pick a bone with her? Like, she has a lot going on.
Kelly
She has a lot going on. Yeah.
Liz
Anyway, that's your warrant. That's your mom and wives recap.
Kelly
Okay. Well, I don't really know where I land on it. I'm not sure if I'm gonna watch it or not.
