Kelly
Oh, sheet.
Liz
Honey, chill. It's just laundry.
Kelly
Not that I'm talking about these arm and hammer power sheets. All the power of arm hammer laundry detergent in a convenient tossable sheet.
Liz
Oh, sheet.
Kelly
That's what I'm saying.
Liz
And arm and hammer power sheets deliver an effective clean at a great price. Think of all the laundry we'll do.
Kelly
And all the money we'll save. Oh, sheet, arm and hammer. More power to you. You don't wake up dreaming of McDonald's fries. You wake up dreaming of McDonald's hash browns. McDonald's breakfast comes first. Welcome to the Carpool podcast with Kelly.
Liz
Look up your Catholic fish fries and hit up fish fries on Fridays because it's very similar to a Disney Channel original movie coming out on a Friday. A Lenten fish fish fry. It's such a good vibe.
Kelly
And Liz, people were going to the grade school, like, the office, like, hey, where's information for Phineas and Ferb camp? And they're like, that's just something the Sundrip girls are doing. That's not a school sanctioned thing. Your mom time off starts now.
Liz
Welcome back to the Carmel podcast with Kelly and Liz. How's everyone doing?
Kelly
New week, new me, kind of new season.
Liz
Like, has spring, dare I say, sprung.
Kelly
The moment that I opened my phone up on March 1, and I go, oh, it's March 1. I've never looked at the beginning of a month and thought, wow, I'm happy to be here.
Liz
And we were sick for half the month of February, so. And we. One that we don't need to do is rehash that again. No, but it feels good to be here.
Kelly
It does feel good.
Liz
The only thing that's given me kind of Pittsville, usa, is like, the summer care of it all.
Kelly
Yeah. You're, like, really in. In that phase.
Liz
Well, the way just no one prepares you for when your kids, like, leave a daycare and go to more of a preschool. And then, like, said preschool isn't open or you have school age kids and then you just have to, like, somehow come up with care for 12 weeks out of the year if you work. Mm. And George and Hattie are at, like, a really tough age because, like, they're so not. I can't really get a lot done with them at home, you know, and then it's me, like, the balance of, you know, having a flexible job and, like, wanting to have a summer. And our mom always stayed home with us. So, like, I'm also feeling, like, kind of feeling some of that guilt.
Kelly
But also it's really hard for us to do our job in the winter because it's being outside and recording and filming car tours and relying on the unpredictable Missouri weather is not the best. So actually summer is a really good time for our job. It would be easier if we could take like the winter off with people.
Liz
Oh, it'd be so much easier if we could take the winter off. I agree. So anyway, and you know, camps just fill up. Camps are so expensive. And I was also just kind of. Tyler and I were talking, like there was this camp I wanted to sign them up for. It was very expensive. Like it was several hundred dollars per child for the week. And I'm like, they are too young to then tell me I don't want to go on Thursday. Like, I can't. It's like we spent, you know, $600 to send you two to camp this week. Like, you're going.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
So I've got a plan. I have a plan. I have. I have a plan in motion. It's not going to cover me for the whole summer, obviously. And I don't even know really why I got here. Oh, just to like. I can't believe how much there's only like three months left to school.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
March, April, half of May, two and a half months up to school.
Kelly
I can't believe how much the parents of our grade school were probably so grateful for us when we hosted a summer camp. When Kelly and I were in high school, we hosted a week long summer camp for like three or four summers. Sometimes we had multiple sessions because it filled up so quickly.
Liz
No, we need to talk about this. I don't because Elizabeth and I, such entrepreneurs, we were in high school and you know, Sydney and Grayson were. Were the ages of our target campers. So it was helpful because, like, we could get them.
Kelly
Yeah, we got their friends and you.
Liz
Know, our mom didn't let us watch like any real tv. So our favorite show was Phineas and Ferb at like the age of 15. So it was a Phineas and Ferb themed camp.
Kelly
Phineas and Ferb adventure camp. Phineas and Ferb was like the it show at the time for our target demo too. And we had what, like 20 kids? 20 to 20, 25 kids. I think we each had 10 kids in our, like, team. And we did actually have to bring in an additional counselor a few weeks a few years later. I think the first year we charged $50 a kid and we watched the kids for four hours for a whole week.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
And then we were like that people were like, you need to charge more. And we're like, should we charge $100 for each kid? Like, that is so much money. And we did. And I think we each walked away with like eleven hundred dollars. And it was like, oh, my gosh, I am the richest person on the planet.
Liz
And we made it in a week.
Kelly
And we made it in one week.
Liz
People were working all summer. And we made that in a week in our camp, you guys, it was iconic. We would have. It would be like March. And parents would be like, do you guys have a date? Because we're trying to plan Disney a Disney trip, but my kids can't miss Phineas and Ferb Camp.
Kelly
Yeah, it was like, people were going to the grade school, like the office, like, hey, where's information for Phineas and Ferb Camp? And they're like, that's just something the Sundrop Girls are doing. That's not the school sanctioned thing.
Liz
And honestly, like, we were. We were. We were in high school. We had such fun activities. It was like a week long competition between, like, Team Phineas, Team Ferb. Oh, and then, remember, then we did two camps one summer because, you know, once we got a taste of the once. Once we got Whole Foods money, we were like, hold on now, hold on. So then we did a. What was the dancing show?
Kelly
Shake it Up. Shake It Up.
Liz
Then we did a Shake it up version for Just Girls. And we, like, recorded music. Like, Liz recorded, like, music videos of them.
Kelly
We would, like, edit them and send it to the parents. Like, we were so fun.
Liz
We. We were so fun. We did sweeted water balloon volleyball. We would give them. Oh, my gosh.
Kelly
I mean, the amount of money you're spending to send your kids to camp. Maybe we are in the wrong industry. Maybe we need to take summers off just to host summer camps.
Liz
All to say, you know, I always love to talk about side hustles.
Kelly
Side hustle, side hustle, side hustle. You don't have to dedicate a. You don't have to dedicate to being an in home daycare. And, you know, guys, for sure we didn't get anything legally approved. Obviously, we were in high school. It was definitely a, you know, pay in cash situation.
Liz
Elizabeth, the IRS is going to come for us. You need to be quiet.
Kelly
I don't think. I think when I made eleven hundred dollars that entire year, I don't think that that matters. So I don't know the legalities of it all. But, you know, if you've got some friends who, you know that they work and you're like, well, it's just babysitting. Yeah, it's so true.
Liz
It's just.
Kelly
How many kids can you babysit? We definitely were over the legal limit.
Liz
Elizabeth, will you stop airing our dirty laundry? We were, first of all, not over the legal limit because the kids were older. They weren't toddlers.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
They were like, I'm pretty sure at some point it's like a one to ten ratio. And mom. And mom was upstairs.
Kelly
Oh, mom was upstairs. Yeah.
Liz
So that counts too. And we hired a lifeguard for swim days.
Kelly
Like, we did hire a lifeguard for swimming.
Liz
Responsible.
Kelly
We were. We did. Really. We did Great.
Liz
Anyways, all to say, like, I think that would be a great side hustle for a mom. Like you say, hey, I'm doing like a camp this week. You know, send your kids. I'm telling you, the going rate is easily 400 bucks a week. So, like, if you come in under that and it's like, you watch my kids all day and, like, do fun stuff with them.
Kelly
Yeah, done.
Liz
Would also be a fun thing for you to, like, encourage, like your teenager. Like, why don't. Have you thought of doing a summer camp? Like, even if you can't do. Even if you can't do all day. Four hours.
Kelly
We did four hours. Yeah.
Liz
Give me a nine to one if you feed them lunch or don't. I don't care. Heavy snacks. That's fine too.
Kelly
Heavy snacks. Yeah. Good.
Liz
It's a good idea.
Kelly
Free idea.
Liz
Free idea.
Kelly
Free idea. Free idea.
Liz
Well, anyway, Liz, what do we have on today's episode?
Kelly
Well, I didn't. Finny's improved venture camp was not on the list. So happy we got that out of there. General banter. You said you have hot, hot, hot industry nose. Ditch a drive through.
Liz
Yep, yep, yep. Did you see I accidentally on my stories yesterday? I accidentally, like, had a really good model lineup, but I don't want to do it on the podcast because I don't want to be called, like, I don't want to ever be accused of being a Disney adult. And I feel like if we do two Disney related.
Kelly
Oh, for sure.
Liz
Model lineups, like, I'm headed in that direction for sure.
Kelly
But I'm gonna do Disney soundtracks.
Liz
I'm not a Disney adult, but, like, I just have. I have kids.
Kelly
You have kids. That. Yeah, you know what? This is. Speaking of Disney adults, some of my favorite content to watch is made by Disney adults.
Liz
So maybe I shouldn't be a hater.
Kelly
I'm not. I'm actually not.
Liz
I mean, I Am a Disney adult.
Kelly
Well, you're not. You're definitely not. What qualifies, I think you have to have, like, been to Disney World. Maybe they're not. That's what I'm thinking of. Disney adult. Like, anyone who just like, goes to Disney World and watch post what they ate in that day or right now. There's this girl who collects pins. Apparently pin collecting and pin trading is a thing at Disney and her videos have been popping up and they're long videos. I'll sit through the whole freaking.
Liz
Oh, I hope those come across well. I think it's fun to get transported to a different world.
Kelly
Totally. Totally. Like, I will never do it. I'm never. I've never been to Disney. I would like to go to Disney at some point. I don't know if I will, but it's never going to be me. So I'm just. I'm excited to see what else is out there.
Liz
We have never been to Disney. Our parents never took us to Disney. I have no plans to ever go to Disney.
Kelly
I want to go for the food. The food looks fantastic. Forget about my kids. I'm going for me. It sounds. It does sound very, very stressful though, because there is so much planning that goes involved into, like, the passes and how early you need to get there. Like, there is a science to it.
Liz
I'm not. I don't like that.
Kelly
No, it sounds, it sounds really stressful on the planning front. But I like to watch the content. Have you seen the girl who just like, goes, let's go on a workout to Disney? She literally looks like Aurora. She's the cutest girl. Yeah, I know who she is. I like what? I. I'll watch her whole content. All of her content too.
Liz
Yeah, she puts, like glitter on her face and then like, goes to Disney.
Kelly
And like walks five miles at Disney. Like, it's a latte on her walk.
Liz
So anyway, I was gonna ask you, I didn't wanna make it like an official segment, but do you wanna share your top five Disney soundtracks?
Kelly
Oh, well, I think that you probably got them all. I don't actually think that.
Liz
Well, I didn't because one Pocahontas wasn't even spoken about Colors of the Wind.
Kelly
Yeah, but she's got colors. The colors of the wind and that really. That really is it just around the Riverbend. I never, I was never into the Pocahontas songs. Lion King.
Liz
I'm not. I would have that. I'm not that into the Lion King songs.
Kelly
Oh, I. Well, I.
Liz
And then and then it opens up the question.
Kelly
Frozen.
Liz
Well, no, then it opens up the question, is there a spot for Cheetah Girls or High School Musical? Because if you actually want to talk about. If you actually talk about Disney soundtracks. Yeah, High School Musical. No notes.
Kelly
Yeah, no, for sure. Yeah. I think that. I think that's definitely included. And I, I would agree. I would say Cheetah Girls has like some hits, but, like, every High School Musical is a bop.
Liz
Every High School Musical song is a bop. I cannot wait to have like a third 11 year old Hattie and to sit down and be like, hattie, let me show you what. Let me show you this.
Kelly
This is. This is the house that built me right here.
Liz
This is the house that built me. I mean, there's just nothing like the serotonin high of it being. Let's watch a Disney Channel movie when I'm alone on a Friday night. I know they were really serving parents well back then.
Kelly
I will never forget the first time I saw High School Musical. And I was like, I. I knew I was experiencing history, you know, when you know you're experiencing history. And my jaw was dropped. It was on the. It was the same way I felt after I watched Twilight for the first time as well. And I could. All I could think about was how excited I was to go to school the next day and talk to my friends about the masterpiece that was High School Musical.
Liz
We were just all part of. It was such a time to be alive. We were just all part of something. Now kids just be like, did you see that? Tick tock.
Kelly
Yeah, there's some. There is something nice about everyone tuning in at the same time. And everyone's seeing it at the same time.
Liz
That's why I freaking tried to turn on the Oscars last night because it was just like, that's. People are watching and I just can't.
Kelly
I just don't care about. I don't care about pop culture. Unfortunately for me.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
I don't know any of grade school.
Kelly
Anyway, this week is.
Liz
This week is the start of Lent, slash Mardi Gras, depending on how and who you celebrate. But for us Catholics, it's. And I guess Christians, it's Lent. It's the start of Lent. Ash Wednesday is coming up, and if you don't know what Lent is, you say Lent or Lent.
Kelly
Lent, Lent, Lent.
Liz
If you don't know what Lent is, it is a period of time. It's 40 days. This is 40 days between Mardi Gras and Easter, basically. But for us, it represents the 40 days where Jesus went into the desert to pray and to fast. And it's basically like us preparing for the resurrection. That's what we do. So we do things by, like, we abstain from eating meat on certain days. Supposed to fast on certain days. And it's kind of like tradition to, like, give some. Give things up during the month, during the 40 days of Lent. It's kind of like the original 75 hard.
Kelly
So true.
Liz
You know what I mean? It's only 40 days, except it's 40 days, 40 nights.
Kelly
40 days, 40 nights. So true. Actually, doing a 75 hard would be a good approach to your lunch, but you only have to do it for 40 days. Yeah, I'm not gonna do it. I'm not gonna do it.
Liz
I'm not gonna do it. I've really been thinking about. I'm just feeling very, like, inspired by all things Lent this year. So I'm like, thinking about, you know, what I want to give up, what I want to do, and it's like, you know, it's the trending thing. Like, I'm not giving anything up, but I'm gonna do this instead. But then on Sunday, our priest was kind of convicting because he's like, you need to be giving things up and replace. You need to, like, give things up. And, like, then the space that you now have, like, you need to replace with things that are good.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
I'm like, that makes sense. But you can't just be like, I'm gonna pray more. Like, that's like, that doesn't make any sense. Like, you're supposed to. I don't wanna use the word suffer, but you're supposed to. It's supposed to be challenging.
Kelly
Yeah, it's, it's very much like when you're, if you're fasting and then you're feeling, like, the hunger, you're then supposed to be like, that remembers you. That reminds you to go and remembers you. Oh, my gosh, I'm an idiot. That reminds you to go into, like, a state of prayer. And that's sort of the concept. Now. Luckily, pregnant and nursing women are exempt from fasting, so I won't be fasting. I won't be fasting either, but I like to.
Liz
But I fear, Yeah, I fear I may be done nursing by the time Good Friday comes around. So I'm, I, I, I'll definitely miss Ash Wednesday, but I might have to fast on Good Friday.
Kelly
So you can, you can give something up. You can do something extra. You can do both. It's really, like, choose your own adventure is your Lent. So what are you gonna do?
Liz
Okay, so I'm again, I'm like, I'm, like, doing like, your traditional, like, giving up something. And then I'm like, doing something is kind of my vibe. So it was between giving up Diet Coke or giving up getting coffee out, like, only making coffee at home. I'm sorry, I can't do both. And our priest did tell us. He's like, don't give up something that will make other people in your life miserable. So if I give up, both of my family will be miserable.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
So I think I'm gonna give up Diet Coke mainly. So I think I'm gonna give up Diet Coke.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
And I'm also. What I'm going to do. So, like, when I'm like. And I think, like, you know, when I'm like, I always love to have a Diet Coke, like, with my dinner, like a can, like in the evening or like when I go out to a restaurant. So I will definitely, like, get that remembrance of, like, oh, I'd love a Diet Coke right now, but I can't have one. So I'm gonna say a prayer. You know what I mean?
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Kind of my vibe. And then I'm also going to. During the 40 days of Lent, I'm going to charge my phone in my bathroom and I'm going to put it on the charger at 7pm oh, wow. And then I'm done.
Kelly
That's. That will be a challenge.
Liz
No. And that's one thing my priest also said. He goes, if your lint goal or Lent. What is it even called? Like, your lint give upper. I don't know.
Kelly
It's definitely not. Give up her Lenten promise.
Liz
Your Lenten promise seems possible. It's probably not challenging enough. So, like, it does seem impossible. But I think the point is, like, even if you fail, you don't, you know. So, no, not to say I won't, like, check it. Like, I'm gonna plug it in, but not to say I won't, like, you know, see if you called or see if you texted or, like, if someone needs something, but I'm not going to be with my phone. I'm not. I'm going to, like, get the fire up the Kindle. I'm even going to let myself go on my iPad if I want to, like, online shop or something. Like, I'm just not. I'm not doing the social media. I'm not doing the phone. 7:00pm it's plugged in. I can't wait to, like, get into bed. Like, I'm in the 90s and, like, open a book.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
You know?
Kelly
Well, I saw this. This Instagram, and this girl, she wanted. She's kind of wanted to do the same thing and not be on her phone so much at her house. So she. She had a dedicated spot for her phone, and she had the ringer on, and she looked at her phone like a landline. Like, this is the spot that the phone is, and if I hear a call, I'll go answer the phone. But the phone doesn't follow her throughout her house. Like, the phone goes in the phone. I like that. And I think that's sort of. That would be hard. Maybe I'll consider doing that too. I'm kind of struggling this year on what to give up. Probably it's gonna be, like, something with, like, fried foods or sweets or something along those lines. I need to narrow it down. I'm feeling very called this year, though, to do. Because my priest actually talked less about giving up and more about doing things. So we kind of heard two different messages this week. And many years ago, I wrote a letter. I. I made a list of 40 people, and each day I wrote a letter and mailed it to one of the. One of the 40 people.
Liz
Yeah, that's iconic. And iconic.
Kelly
And it was just people who I love and just, like, wanted to send them a nice note, make their day, and just, like, let them know that I love them, that Jesus loves them, and that I'm thinking of them. And this is just, like, sort of my. Because I think that's a really good way to, like, practice love. Because I think that we don't tell people. You tell, you know, maybe your partner, your parents, or your siblings. You love them, but, like, your. Your friends, your cousins, like, the people who you just don't see that often, who you do love. We don't tell them that we love them enough, and then we appreciate.
Liz
You would have gone first, because now I feel like a big fat loser because I'm giving them Diet Coke and you're writing letters of people that you love.
Kelly
Well, no, because that's. That's different. I think that the phone thing sounds incredibly challenging. Like, I might do it too, but, like, I really don't. I don't want to do that.
Liz
Yeah. Yeah. And I don't think Jesus wanted to go in the desert for 40 days.
Kelly
So not eat. Yeah. And fast for 40 days. Totally, totally, totally.
Liz
I think you should do the phone thing. I can't do the leather Thing because I have 50 unread text messages. Like, I absolutely. Like, I'm sorry. That's just not. That's. And that doesn't feel authentic to me. But I do see how I feel. Like my lunch and promise is maybe missing, like a serving loving component. So I will brainstorm in that.
Kelly
Okay, so we have some work to do, but, like, we'll come back and.
Liz
We have some work to do. But the best. But for all the things you're giving up in Lent, you know what you're getting in Lent?
Kelly
What?
Liz
A fish fry.
Kelly
A fish fry. Okay.
Liz
Even if you're not Catholic.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Like, look up your Catholic fish fries and hit up fish fries on Fridays because it's very similar to a Disney Channel original movie coming out on a Friday, a Lenten fish fry.
Kelly
It's a great vibe.
Liz
It's such a good vibe. Such a good vibe. So basically, so on Fridays, we don't eat meat, but we can eat fish. So all the Catholic churches in the areas, probably all the Catholic churches, put on these fish fries for people, for fun, for fundraisers. And it is just like. I'm talking, like, Styrofoam takeout container, fried fish, green beans, coleslaw. And, like, the women of the church make a homemade dessert.
Kelly
Like, you simply dessert buffet.
Liz
It is such a vibe. You know, it would go so good with a Diet Coke. So that's gonna be really.
Kelly
Kel. I don't even drink Diet Coke. And I can tell you it would go. Go to the Diet Coke.
Liz
So that's gonna be about.
Kelly
Can you have regular Coke?
Liz
I think not. I think it's like an unsweetened tea is kind of the vibe. I think I would maybe. Maybe I would allow myself, like, a poppy.
Kelly
Yeah. Like something still bubbly.
Liz
But then it's like I'm the girl bringing up, like, I'm bringing my own beverage to the fish fry. Like, that seems a little pretentious.
Kelly
Some of the fish fries have, like, wine, too, and beer. So they're a good time. They're really delicious. And I just. I like the energy. Everyone's so nice. Like, we went last year.
Liz
It's just the vibes are immaculate.
Kelly
We had a toddler, James, and the ladies who were. You know, you'd all sit at a communal table, essentially, and they were like, can we. Can we hold your baby for you so you can eat? And we're like, yeah, you can, because, yeah, this is a very safe environment. It's just. It's a good. It's good energy. It's Good vibes.
Liz
Yeah. So get, get to a fish fry. This line Tyler and I want. We're doing a tour because our church only has fish fries two of the. Two of the weeks. So we're going to be doing a tour and we're actually going to be in Arizona because we're going to Arizona next week. And Tyler already said he wants to find a caloric church in Arizona that's doing a fish fry. So if you live in Scottsdale and you have a fish fry coming up, let me know.
Kelly
Stumpies will be there. Yeah.
Liz
So. But before the fish fry. Speaking of just like church things. Before the fish fry. So we moved and when we moved, like we joined a new like school and church and all that. So like it's like my first year, like going through like this new community and. But I love it. Like I love the school. We're loving everything about it. So we have a big chicken dinner coming up. It's on Saturday. It's like the biggest chicken dinner that. It's like one of our big.
Kelly
They just had the dinner auction and now they're dinner and now they're gonna have lent.
Liz
We got a lot, we got a lot going on. So anyway, it's this chicken dinner and like the men of the church are expected to work it like all day. They're like men and boys eight and over. Like you're here, like you're sad. So, okay. They have to wear like white shirts, black pants and bow ties. And like they serve the people like it's crazy. Now they go. Now this is a church. The women of the parish do not forget you are required. Required is a loose word. But you are encouraged to bring or you are. They're asking, they're asking you to bring four pies for the chicken.
Kelly
Four is a lot of pies.
Liz
Four pies. Apple, peach or cherry only. So this week I have to make pies.
Kelly
You're not making pies.
Liz
I was. I tried to recruit my mother in law but it's not working out on the timing.
Kelly
Oh, you're gonna have to do it.
Liz
I'm gonna have to make pies.
Kelly
Well, I don't think pies are. I think like, I think a good pie is hard to do. I think a average pie is probably not that challenging to make.
Liz
I agree. And I think a fruit pie like that is hard.
Kelly
I mean, can't you just like buy the filling?
Liz
That's what I was gonna say. I think I'm just gonna do peach pies and buy the filling.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Because it's not peach season.
Kelly
I. It's probably.
Liz
It is apple season, but I don't know. Let me ask you, though, if you were at the chicken dinner, like, which of those pies would you choose? I would for sure choose peach or cherry. I would never choose apple. I don't like apple pie.
Kelly
Yeah, I would agree. I would. I would probably go peach.
Liz
And it's like, you don't. But I think what's stressful about it is, like, you don't know whose peach pie you're getting.
Kelly
Well, I think you can look at a peach pie and know which one was homemade. Maybe. I don't know. That feels like way too many pies.
Liz
I don't think. I don't. The number is not scaring me. It's just like, I just think if you're making one, you can make four. No, no.
Kelly
But, like, for the amount of people that they're serving, like, does everyone, like, you only need a. A piece of pie?
Liz
I'm telling you, I think we serve like 4, 000 people.
Kelly
That's bonkers.
Liz
I think it's a bit of a to do. So anyway, we'll see. We'll see what's happening.
Kelly
Okay, well, anyway, so.
Liz
So that's what's coming up. So, like, and you know, I'll have to do it. If I do it before Wednesday, I can do it with a Diet Coke in my hand and my phone. If I do it after, oh, it's gonna feel. It's gonna. I'm gonna go from, like, fun to.
Kelly

Kelly
Okay, Kel, Well, I think it's been a minute since we have done last three transactions where we expose our recent bank account subtractions.
Liz
Oh, it has been a minute.
Kelly
So I think we should do it.
Liz
Okay. Well, do you start or do you want to know?
Kelly
You please start.
Liz
So I placed my second. So I am obsessed with this new kids brand called tea collection.
Kelly
I do.
Liz
I like, post about it and it did feel like I was one of the last ones to know about it. But they have the perfect. It's everything I want in, like children's clothes because one, the clothes are good quality, which quality never really bothered me until I got to George and Hattie's age. And then they could wear the same clothes for two seasons because, you know, they just grow a little slower.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
And it was like, things just weren't like a Carter's tea just like, isn't washing up right. And I'm So anyway, I place a tea collection order, got the stuff in, was obsessed, like, literally immediately placed another order. Obsessed tea collection. It's like the per. It's a little pricey. I'm just gonna be honest with you. It's like 20 bucks for a kid's T shirt.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
But the quality is. The quality is amazing.
Kelly
But it's gonna last.
Liz
The quality is amazing. It's so cute. And everything on the website mixes and matches. So I love that.
Kelly
Everything.
Liz
Like, they're like, Hattie got this cute skirt. It's like a really good. It's like a very thick jersey material. Like, that's how I'm kind of how I would like describe it. And like, their leggings were like a thick jersey material and they're like pair the skirt with literally any of our shirts because, like, it's all the same colors. Perfect.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
So I'm really. I'm so. I know. I placed a second tea collection order. I got Georgia Poison Dart frog shirt. And I got Hattie, these little, like. They're like Sophie shorts, but they have, like, a crochet trim on them. And I got her a shirt with pink Jaguars.
Kelly
It's cute. So cute. Love it. Okay. Something that I recently ordered and has changed my life is I got a. It's a haka. I got a haka. So my. As many of you know, I'm on a, like, a breastfeeding, nursing, pumping journey because Sloan can't take formula. So my girlfriend, she exclusively pumped for a year with her son, and I was like, she's gonna have the hacks. And I was like, I just don't feel like I'm producing enough. I'm. I'm not bagging it as often as I need to be. Like, I need some tips. What. What. What would you recommend? She's like, well, you have the haka, obviously. And I'm like, no, I. I had a haka with James. I never used it. Do I need one? She's like, elizabeth, you need a haka. This 11 contraption has changed my life. It's hard nursing a baby. Goes from like, oh, she's kind of cute when she does it. And then when you attach the haka to the other breast while the baby is feeding, it's not a good look. It's a very much. I'm doing it private with the door shut. Don't even want my husband around when.
Liz
I'm totally doing the haka.
Kelly
But while I'm feeding Sloan, if I do the haka on my other breast, I will collect, like, one and a half to two ounces of milk that would have otherwise just never been pumped, and it's really, really changed my life.
Liz
So happy for you.
Kelly
Would recommend, if you're on that journey.
Liz
As I am, I was with you. I never liked. I had the haka with George, and it really does take it from, like, this beautiful breastfeeding moment to, like, both boobs out. Like, you are only as good as your nipples.
Kelly
You are a cow. You are being milked for all that.
Liz
You're a cow. We are getting a baby cow. Tell her so within 48 hours.
Kelly
Oh, my gosh.
Liz
We're on baby watch over here.
Kelly
Baby watch. That's so exciting.
Liz
May is having our cow. Ms. May is having her 10th baby.
Kelly
Wow.
Liz
Yep.
Kelly
And it's Now. How many babies does a cow usually have? Well, Tyler said that.
Liz
I honestly have no idea.
Kelly
It feels like 10. Feels like she could retire.
Liz
This is her last one.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
This is her last one, and that's what we brought her to our house from Tyler's parents house because like now we're graining her every day. Like this is just like she's in heaven.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
And she'll get to like, you know, keep the baby for a long time and like, it's just gonna be fun. But yeah, like we, we went out there when Tyler was grading her, he was like checking her and like, her like she's. Her milk's coming in. Like, it's like, it is so exciting. It's like an any day situation.
Kelly
Oh my gosh, this is so exciting.
Liz
Yeah, I know. So I keep like looking outside. She's just grazing. Like she's hanging out, but I can like see her from my kitchen window. Like, it's such a vibe here at Stumpy Farms.
Kelly
It's such a vibe.
Liz
Yeah. Okay, let me go to. Sorry, I like, need to now look at my transactions. Okay, well, like I spoke about, we are headed to good old Az, Arizona for a little vacation, little spring break. And I wanted to buy some plain things, so I bought a ton of plain things. I'll tell you what I bought. Paint by sticker fun the.it I bought George like a little Lego kit. I bought Hattie this. Polly pocket micro dolls and accessories. Mermaid two in one seashell purse playset. Amazon exclusive. Whoa. I brought some more Crayola clicks because I'm obsessed. And I bought those LCD writing tablet things.
Kelly
Nice.
Liz
Oh, and I bought George this 3D printed state snake.
Kelly
Oh, wow. You're just the mom of the year.
Liz
Well, and I know it's kind of like, you know, it's like it's toys, but it's like there's no toys there. Like, I need. And I need some tools in my. I need some tools in my tool belt.
Kelly
Are you going to pack them individual snack bags like mom packed us?
Liz
Mom did used to pack us individual snack bags.
Kelly
She used to pack us individual snack bags. And we would go on a plane. She had five kids and like we traveled a lot and we'd all get our own Ziploc bag. And the best part was like, you'd have all your own private snacks. And then also she'd always put a pack of gum in there and you would have your own pack of gum.
Liz
That is so I. Elizabeth, that's like tickling my brain because I totally forgot that she used to do that. Yeah, I need so. Yeah, so add that to my list when I go get myself to make pies. I also need to go freaking make my own snack bags. But That's a good point, because I cannot be taking three kids who eat snacks to. To the Hudson's news in the airport.
Kelly
Oh, no.
Liz
They'll bankroll me.
Kelly
Bank. Do you think summer camp's expensive? Literally, you have summer camp to pay for.
Liz
Okay, that's a good point. That's a good point.
Kelly
And then there's no fighting. It's like you. Oh, you ate your rice crispy. You're done, you know? Yep, yep.
Liz
You have your. Right. Yeah. You have your rice crispy. You could eat your good snacks, and.
Kelly
Then you can eat it whenever you want.
Liz
If you only have peanuts left, you only have peanuts left. That's your fault. Yeah.
Kelly
Okay. One of the things that I recently bought was I place an Athleta order because Athleta has the. And I post this on my story because I can't get over it. They have the most beautiful pale yellow color right now.
Liz
You literally love pale yellow. That is your car, Mom. That's your car, Mom. Blue.
Kelly
It must be. I. That tickles my brain to look at it. I never will place an order from Athleta for, like, a collection. I'll, like, buy things when I need, things that I know that I like. The way that I'm just, like, trying new things. As long as it's in that color, I'm obsessed. I.
Liz
Well, then everything matches. Similar to tea collection.
Kelly
So. Hey, similar to collection. It might be a little bit more expensive, but everything will match, and it's good quality.
Liz
Okay, I'm looking at the pale yellow. Oh, yeah, it's nice. I mean, next time I come on blue color, we look like a couple of Easter eggs.
Kelly
Well, it is the season.
Liz
Easter's late this year.
Kelly
Is it? Okay?
Liz
I don't think it's till April 20, because sometimes it falls on Tyler's birthday, which. Tyler's birthday is April 9th.
Kelly
Oh, okay.
Liz
So that's late.
Kelly
Yeah. Okay.
Liz
My last of my last transactions is I bought Crocs for George and I also then. Okay, so I found Hattie and Fred's Crocs at Marshalls for, you know, the 29.99, which, like, felt good. Fred is black, Hattie is pink. They didn't have Georgia size. I was like, oh, that's so annoying. I like to have Crocs in the summer. Like, it's just. To me, I'm. I can't do, like, your little native shoe things. Like, my kids can't figure those out. Like, I want a crochet. I want a croc. So anyway, I was like, I'm I went to, like, another Marshalls. Couldn't find one. And, like, I don't know why. I just, like, want to pay 29.99 instead of, like, 49.99.
Kelly
Like, that.
Liz
Just. It feels so much better to do it at Marshalls when it's, like, the same shoe. Whatever. I can't find George's. So now I was like, okay, he needs crocs before Arizona. Like, I'm just gonna go on. On Crocs website. First of all, Crocs is kind of having, like, their sk. They're having, like, the glow up that I want Skechers to have for, like, women's shoes because I, like, looked at the croc flip flops.
Kelly
Hold up.
Liz
And I was like, I'm gonna buy that flip flop for myself.
Kelly
No, you do not.
Liz
I did.
Kelly
Let's see.
Liz
So I bought myself this, like, just, like, very simple, like, just. It's a tank. I haven't gotten them yet. I haven't gotten them yet.
Kelly
Now, did you do slides or sandals or flip flops?
Liz
I think I went to sandals. I think you'll know which ones I got pretty easily because they're, like, the cute ones. So anyway, I bought those for myself in a brown. Very excited.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Do you see them?
Kelly
Well, I think that there's actually quite a few that are. That are cute.
Liz
That's what I'm saying. No.
Kelly
Which ones you bought?
Liz
And then I got George camel ones. Because at this point, like, if I was, like, gonna. And now I'm just so nervous because, like, I think if you're like, a croc mom, like, I'm so nervous for the day. George and had he discovered giblets, I think is what we call them.
Kelly
Cow. They have a pale yellow, and they're on sale.
Liz
What? How much are they?
Kelly
39.
Liz
Are they crocs or are they sandals?
Kelly
They're sandals, but they have the holes. So I could put my own giblets in there if I wanted to, and.
Liz
Then you could just make it whatever you wanted.
Kelly
Wow. Okay.
Liz
So anyway, George got camo crocs. I got croc sandals.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
But I don't know. I, I, I, I don't. I can give an update. I don't want to speak to them yet.
Kelly
Kelly, they're gonna be amazing.
Liz
I know. I think they are too.
Kelly
Honestly, Croc technology is. Is top tier. They're gonna be really, really nice. Oh, my gosh. Do I need to order these, Elizabeth?
Liz
No, no, let's. Because then we always have the same stuff, and then we look Stupid.
Kelly
No, no. But there's another pale yellow. I kind of want them in the pale. The yellow so they can match all the other pale yellow stuff I just bought. Okay. My last, last transaction. The way that I will just order anything that I think I might like just because I could get the next day shipping on Amazon, meet that 25 threshold. That is the bang.
Liz
I didn't know about this.
Kelly
Well, you know, like, sometimes you'll add something. You might not get next day shipping because you live so far away. Well, but do you ever get overnight shipping? No, you don't. So if you live, you know, in civilization, there is sometimes you get overnight shipping, but you have to meet a 25 threshold. So you can't just throw toothpaste on there and get it the next morning. So if I throw my toothpaste on there and it's like, you are 14 away from the free shipping. Then I'm like, okay. They're like, here's some eligible items. I'm like, what can I add to my cart so I can get this tomorrow? So I recently discovered the how do Dinosaurs books. So how did dinosaurs stay. Good night. How did dinosaurs play with their friends? How did dinosaurs go to the bathroom?
Liz
Whatever.
Kelly
There's a ton of them. They're such good illustrations. They're good books, they're good stories, they're good morals. James loves dinosaurs. So there was a We had how do dinosaurs say good night banger. And on the free shipping threshold there was how do dinosaurs play with their friends? So that's what I got. And we really like it. They're really good books. They're very realistic dinosaurs.
Liz
I haven't even heard of that line of line of books before.
Kelly
Oh, I like, posted about it and everyone was like, that line of books is. Is the best. How do it looks like this.
Liz
You've seen. No, I'm Googling.
Kelly
Oh, okay.
Liz
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't. I don't. We don't have any of these. But see, everyone's over dining. George is over dinosaurs. Fred doesn't care about dinosaurs.
Kelly
Yeah. So we're just in our dino era.
Liz
Okay, well, that was fun. Well, are you ready to move on to industry news, where we spill the hot tea going on in the auto industry?
Kelly
Sure am.
Liz
Two stories. Two stories. Each juicier than the next. Well, like, the headlines are juicy, but, like, upon reading the story, which I did do prior to this podcast recording, it's a lot of nothing, though. Well, it's not a lot of nothing. It's. It's. It's something to watch. Okay.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
So a name you haven't heard in a while. Carvana moves into franchise ownership with the purchase of a Stellantis store. Carvana acquired a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram new car dealership in Arizona for which is a first for the online retailer. They closed the deal Feb. 28 to. To acquire a franchise dealership in the home state of Arizona. It marks a potentially bold move into new vehicle sales for the online retailer, which since 2013 has only sold used vehicles. Spokesperson said, we are always experimenting, and this is a small test in a single market. We're excited to join the Cellantis network, and our focus in this test will be learning how to provide great customer experience at a franchise dealership.
Kelly
Seems like the owners of Carvana took the scenic route to break into the dealership business.
Liz
Well, if you remember, like, whenever we were reporting, like, they had gone bankrupt, like, I mean, it was just. It was bad. It was bad. But I. To. My understanding of business is like, even though Carvana is bankrupt, like, the name, they. They have spent enough use. They have spent enough marketing on the name where it's like, it still is gonna have value no matter what, you know, So I don't know. I don't know.
Kelly
I mean, I have trust issues with them for sure. Wouldn't be my first.
Liz
I don't like how they're like, we're always experimenting. It's like, maybe that's your problem.
Kelly
Well, and I don't. I mean, you're always experimenting. You bought a new car dealership. Like, there are thousands of new car dealerships across the country. Like, it's kind of a pretty.
Liz
I mean, I mean, like, they're always, like, experimenting. Like, oh, you know, now we're gonna have these car bending machines.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
No one wants those.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
Now we're gonna do. It's just like, maybe you guys should just, like, try to focus on, like, one thing.
Kelly
Well, they haven't really done anything. Well, so.
Liz
So I guess that's what. That's their problem.
Kelly
Maybe that's a nice way to say we're always experimenting.
Liz
They have. Literally, my favorite story is, like, they're always sliding in my dms. Really? Oh, they offered me some big bucks. Not me. Not your girl.
Kelly
Well, I would not trust that. That check to cash.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
So that's. That's very interesting. I'll be curious to see how that goes. So they're going to be called Carvana.
Liz
No, here, hold on. I have it right here. They are going to call it. It's like A. It's Casa Grande. Wait, it's something like that. Okay. The dealership will be renamed Casa Grande. Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram. Carvana plans to reopen the store under the new name March 3rd and retain all 41 employees.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
Okay.
Kelly
Well, Libby has so much to say.
Liz
Yeah, Libby's here with me this morning. Okay, next. Do you remember we talked about the Honda, Nissan, Honda, Nissan merger? Well, that's not happening anymore. Really?
Kelly
What happened?
Liz
There was drama, basically. And again, this is. This is the abridged version. Basically, Nissan was like, you're treating us like you're the boss and we're not equals. And Honda's like, exactly. And Nissan didn't like that. So, like, then it, like, started to fall apart, but now, like, there's one condition where Han is like, okay, Nissan, you want us to acquire you. Like, you have to do this one thing. And that one thing is they want their. They want the Nissan CEO to step down. It says Honda isn't happy with how Nissan has handled the nuts and bolts of the preparation for the merger. So it seems that the Honda CEO is putting the blame on ucinda, which is Nissan CEO.
Kelly
Wow. That's, like, big drama.
Liz
It says during the back and forth between the two automakers, Nissan bristled at Honda's attempt to make it a subsidiary instead of a partner. After so long living under the thumb of the. The current Japanese company who owns Nissan, they don't want to be in a similar position, just with a different master. Nissan was looking at other option after the talk with Honda broke down. The automaker was reportedly preparing to approach Tesla, but Elon Musk said no proposal would be entertained. But the problem is, like, Nissan is very. Like, Nissan isn't gonna be able to survive on their own, so they got to figure something out. So the CEO probably needs to step down. Wow. In my opinion, I mean, Nissan's just not going to make it. Or, like, should, like, Stellantis and Nissan just, like, the two, like, stinkers of the car market right now. Like, I don't mean stinkers. Like, I like. I don't like their cars. Like, you know, I actually do like a lot of their cars, but they're just not. They're just not. They're not making money. And that's just what it comes down to. Maybe Carvana will buy them. Yeah, I don't think Carvana has that much money, though.
Kelly
That's kind of crazy because I want.
Liz
To tell you how much they were acquiring them for. I thought I saw it.
Kelly
Yeah. And if they're acquiring them, then, like. Yeah, you're not going to be like, a total equal partner. Like, you have to kind of understand.
Liz
How I think that Nissan thinks they're bringing a lot to the table.
Kelly
More to the table than they are.
Liz
Which compared to maybe Stellantis, but, like, compared to Honda.
Kelly
Yeah, it's Honda.
Liz
The home of the Odyssey.
Kelly
Yeah.
Liz
Anyway, that's your industry news.
Kelly
Wow. Okay, that's.
Liz
Oh, and do you want to hear what car I'm getting when I'm in Arizona?
Kelly
I do.
Liz
Well, huge perk of the job is, you know, there's not a lot of fleets because to. To quote Liz, I live in the middle of nowhere, so I have sometimes trouble, like, getting, like, car, like the good press cars. But in Scottsdale, like, their fleet is popping off, so I'm getting a Hyundai Santa Fe.
Kelly
Oh, that's not gonna be the car you're gonna be driving with your kids.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
You're gonna put four kids in Hyundai Santa Fe?
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Oh. Oh, my.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Is that. Can you do that?
Liz
Well, it's a third row.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
Instead of tether anchors in the third row. Because I'm gonna be flapped if it doesn't. Hold on, let me look it up. Well, Hyundai Santa Fe, third row. I mean, I'll figure it out, though.
Kelly
That's gonna be tight.
Liz
Yeah. You know, I mean. Yeah, it's gonna be tight. There's tethers.
Kelly
Okay. I'll be honest. I thought you were gonna have something with a little bit more razzle dazzle because, like, we do have access to Hyundai Santa Fe's if you wanted one, but.
Liz
Well, not for a week. Not for a week and not in 75 degree weather, first of all.
Kelly
True. And this is gonna really test your. Your abilities.
Liz
Let me just say, it wasn't my first choice. I was hoping there would have been, like a minivan or so, like, they send me the fleet. I can tell you what my options were. Do you want me to tell you.
Kelly
What the options, Elizabeth?
Liz
I emailed the. The company and I was like, hey, I'm gonna be there. You know, can I. Here's what I did last time. You know, last time I went to Arizona, like, I had the Sienna, and I was like, you know, here's all the great work that I did. Could I get this done again? And they were like, sure, here are the options. Hold on. I'll tell you the options and you can tell me if you would have picked something else.
Kelly
Okay. I mean, I imagine I wouldn't.
Liz
So here are my options. Santa Fe Hybrid calligraphy. So like buzzy, buzzy. Honda CR V would have been too small. Mazda CX70. Only two row Toyota Crown too small. Mazda CX90.
Kelly
Okay, so is your only option.
Liz
Yeah. And it's buzzy. The hybrid, the calligraphy, the challenge of it all.
Kelly
We'll see what happens.
Liz
We'll see what happens.
Kelly
Okay, well, that's gonna be some good content. I'm very, very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Liz
Yeah, me too.
Kelly
Kel, are you ready for dish at the drive thru where we give you an easy dinner recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner rut.
Liz
Yup.
Kelly
Okay, well, today's dinner recipes, we're gonna give you a little. A little lent. A little fish. If you can't make to a fish fry, here is what you can make at home this Friday for your family. And you have one. And I, I also have one as well.
Liz
Well, this is one of the original dish the drive thrus that to this day still smacks. And we are having it on Wednesday. And it is a salmon sushi bowl.
Kelly
Mm.
Liz
Time and time again, it's such. It's like when you want sushi but you don't want to spend it or you live in the middle of nowhere and you don't have access. It's like it's such a box check. You get a salmon fillet, you just put it in the oven. Just salt, pep, garlic powder, you know, like it doesn't matter because, like, that's not where the flavor is coming from.
Kelly
Oh, you know what, I'll put some teriyaki sauce on it.
Liz
Sure. Do the most, do the least. Bottom line, though, doesn't matter. You make some rice and then you can do the microwave. You can do the Bob Evans. You can do on the stove. Like it's a choose your own adventure. And then things start to come together. You can then cut up cucumbers and avocado edamame. Edamame, seaweed. Like, you have to get the seaweed, little cubey mayo, sriracha, soy sauce, everything but the bagel seasoning. And you make your own sushi salmon bowl. It is so freaking good.
Kelly
Yeah. I will also do that with just a tuna packet as well. If I don't want to go. If I don't want to make a salmon filet, I will do like the. There's like a sweet and spicy tuna tuna creations packet or I think there's like a something Thai one. I've also just done like lemon pepper. But the ones that Are more Asian flair leaning. Tend to be better in the sushi bowl. And same thing. I'll do a cucumber rice, seaweed. I don't even have QP mayo. I just take regular mayo and mix it with sriracha, and then I drizzle that over it, and it gets the job done for me.
Liz
Yum, yum.
Kelly
And so that's for you. If your kids aren't gonna eat that, though, something that might be a good. A good option for your kids would be fish sticks. But instead of just fish sticks, you can, like, put them in a tortilla. And now you got fish tacos.
Liz
Yeah. You get a slaw. You get a slaw mix, you put.
Kelly
That same aioli on it.
Liz
A fresh avocado. And now you have.
Kelly
Hello.
Liz
Now your kids have fish for mom.
Kelly
Not the kids.
Liz
Now your kids have fish. My kids. Not to brag. My kids eat salmon.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
So, yeah, I haven't done, like, everything right as a mom, but, like, my kids are not that picky, and I'm very proud of that. Except George doesn't eat cheese, which is.
Kelly
Well, you know what? That's him. That's him trying to have a person out. Like, that's like, I used to think.
Liz
No, I used to.
Kelly
You don't think that that's just, like, a cli. Like, he's just wants attention?
Liz
No, I really don't. Because it used to be, like, he didn't like cheese, but he would eat pizza. And it's like, okay, so you, like. But now he literally, like, his fate. Like, he asked to have pizza all the time, but he just wants tomato sauce, like, pepperoni and sausage and.
Kelly
Okay, so maybe he just didn't like cheese.
Liz
Like, where were we the other day? Like, we got pizza. Oh, we were at Tyler's grandma's, and she got pizza for everybody. And he ripped, like, from Pizza Hut. He scraped the cheese off, put the toppings back on, and was eating it.
Kelly
Okay, all right, well, then. Yeah, I stand corrected.
Liz
Besides that, we're good.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
They're.
Kelly
They're good eaters.
Liz
I'm very proud of them. Okay, one more to not mess up. And then. And then I. Like, then you made it. But, you know, Sydney was. Sydney was mom's first eater. We were all good eaters. And then Sydney came along and, like, couldn't handle, like, the taste of, like, the seeds on strawberries. Yeah, I feel. And I'm not saying that, like, I. I think. I'm not saying that, like, I'm amazing, because I don't think I really did anything that special. But, like, my heart goes out to parents of kids with, like, like, super picky eaters.
Kelly
I really, I, I, I, I honestly, I think you've done. I think you've done a great job as a mom, but I also think that there's so much of it that is luck, because I was just at.
Liz
That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying.
Kelly
I was talking to a mom of twins, and we were talking. They're toddlers, and we're talking about picky eaters and everything. She's like, one of them will eat anything. The other one won't even. Even eat a chicken nugget.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
And she's like, I did the exact same thing with both of them.
Liz
Yeah. No, my heart, My just. My heart goes out to moms with picky eaters because it's so, so hard. It's so hard. And it's such a battle of, like, you know, I think we very much grew up in the whole, like, you're not leaving the table till you eat it. And I don't like that because I do think that kind of is a little toxic. But then I think you just know your kids and you know, when they don't want to eat and when they do, you know. Yeah, I don't know.
Kelly
Totally.
Liz
