Um, I think I just won my taxes. Yeah, I just switched to HR Block in about one minute. All I had to do was drag and drop last year's return into H and R Block, and bam. My information is automatically there so I don't have to go digging around for all my old papers to switch. Nope. Sounds like we just leveled up our tax game.
B
Switching to H and R Block is easy. Just drag and drop your last return. It's better with block. Welcome to the carpool podcast with Kelly.
A
I can't wait to get rid of the jumper thing, which she's not there yet because she kind of just got into that. But that's one thing. If it wasn't wasteful, I would do a ceremonial burn.
B
And, Liz, taking care of your car cleaning, doing a good, deep clean of your heart, Getting it to as close to new as possible. Every time I get in my car, I have a serotonin boost. Your mom time off starts now.
A
Welcome back to the carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz. Hey, Liz.
B
Hey, Kel.
A
What's up?
B
Happy Tuesday.
A
Happy Tuesday. Spring is finally springing. We had such incredible. I mean, I know, like, rain in.
B
April isn't like new April showers.
A
April showers. But it was like flash floods and, like, tornadoes, and I'm just like. I'm tired of it. I want some sunshine. My poor kids. Every day, George wakes up. Can I wear shorts today? Nobody?
B
No.
A
Because I thought it was spring, and it tr. If you live in the Midwest, it's so such a tease because you get a few nice days.
B
Yeah. Spring feels like the shortest season because it doesn't feel like it ever really comes. Yes, it comes. And then. And then you're. And then it's cold. And then it comes, and then it's raining. And then it comes, and then it's 80 degrees and hot.
A
Like, I never understood growing up. I kind of get it a little bit more now, but I never understood, like, the need to have, like, a spring wardrobe because it's like, you just have winter and summer wardrobes.
B
Yeah.
A
What is spring? Like, what is. What is a spring wardrobe? Now I kind of get it. It's like a light sweater. A loafer, maybe when it's, like, 50 degrees.
B
Okay, sure.
A
But that's like four days. 50. And Sunny is, like four days out of our year.
B
Yeah.
A
Aside from that, it's cold or hot.
B
Yeah.
A
And there's nothing I hate more. You wonder what I hate the most, Elizabeth.
B
What?
A
And this is no shade to anybody who did this, because I did this. I hate you'll agree with me having to find an outfit for, like, a baby or a bridal shower in March.
B
Yeah. No, it sucks.
A
It is the absolute. It is the worst event to dress for.
B
It's cold. Like, it's cold, but I don't want to wear a winter outfit because it's technically spring, apparently. But then I feel like an idiot wearing a pink pastel tank top when it's freezing and raining.
A
And what shoes?
B
And what shoes?
A
Because you don't want to wear your boots. But you're like, I can't have an ankle exposed. Like, my baby shower with George was in March, and that was different because, like, you're the girl. So, like, you just kind of, like, you can wear, like you're setting the tone, but if I get invited to one and it's in March, like, I. My teeth clench. I hate dressing for that.
B
Yeah.
A
It's just like, I hate picking on an outfit for church those days, too. Like, it's just something about that.
B
Yeah.
A
When you feel like you can't wear jeans and sneakers.
B
Well, I just went to one and I wore jeans. And here's the thing. I wore jeans. I wore nice jeans. I wore a dark sort of tailored jean, and I paired it with a ballerina flat.
A
Okay.
B
And like, a crisp shirt, so I. I felt appropriate. But, yeah, it was tough. I mean, it was pouring down rain, and, yeah, it was a tough outfit and I was cold and I didn't wear a jacket, but I just braved through it.
A
But you just. You have to choose to be cold. Yeah, I chose to be cold because at some point it's inappropriate to be warm. If it's not a spring outfit.
B
Sometimes it's inappropriate to be warm.
A
Yeah.
B
So tough. Tough. Anyway, we have a. An episode today.
A
Yeah. So I have. There's so much talk about chat GPT lately, and I have been playing around with it a lot. I. I downloaded the app on my phone, which is something. Do you have a download?
B
Yeah, I do.
A
Yeah. You know, it's just. Here's what I just think we all need to remember. It's. There is. There's things that are scary about, like, how even more accessible information is and how it can, you know, maybe, like, replace some jobs and do some of this. But here's why I'm not, at this point, worried about AI taking over. Because I one time, early. Early on, like, was listening to a podcast and it was like, what AI Hat can't. What humans have that AI doesn't is humans are lazy. And that laziness will always propel us to have more innovation than the AI.
B
Okay.
A
Because, like, we will. Maybe that's. Maybe now this will not be around because we've just invented the ultimate laziness hack, which is ChatGPT. But I'm just sitting here struggling. Like, some people are, like, it's so bad. We're going to lose how to connect. And some people are like, we already lost that. And some people are, like, using it to. I don't know. I just don't know where to land on this. And part of me feels like I'm doing something bad by using it.
B
No, I don't think you're doing anything bad by using it. I. For me, I think the scary part about it is the images and the photo and the videos that they're able to create and how they can mimic. You can make it look like you're saying something that you're not. That's what's scary. And just, like, the fraud and the spam, I think is going to get really good and really hard to detect. So I'm actually, like, really nervous for, like, our parents because I think we're better at detecting these types of things, but it's going to be hard. It's going to be hard to detect.
A
Yeah. And I just don't know enough about it. I just. I would like to talk to somebody who is, like, telling me not to be scared about it, not to be scared of it. It's okay to use it, which is okay.
B
I'm tell. You can talk to me about it. It is okay to use it. You're not doing anything wrong.
A
But it's just all gonna shake out.
B
Having it write you an Instagram caption.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, you're not using it for nefarious reasons. People are. People use everything for nefarious reasons. You just have to, like, know the dangers and know how to protect. Like, I don't want you to sit here and be. Feel like you're doing something wrong for.
A
Yeah, I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
B
There's nothing wrong.
A
Like, I feel bad if I ask it to, like, write me an Instagram caption.
B
No, that's okay.
A
That feels like cheating. Maybe that's just because I was. It feels like plagiarism.
B
Well. And I don't know how people are getting around plagiarism, but I don't. I don't really want to feel it. I don't feel like talking about plagiarism. No, sometimes you feel like talking about it. Sometimes you don't today. It's not a plagiarism day for me.
A
Of course not. But I was just kind of, like, testing her out because I just wanted to know also, is she coming from my neck? Chat gbt? She's not.
B
Yeah.
A
And she does.
B
I think it's a boy.
A
Oh, do you?
B
Yeah.
A
Okay, well, he's not coming from. He's not. They.
B
They.
A
They are not.
B
I don't know.
A
ChatGPT is not coming for us. I gave it some prompts. I said, I have three kids in car seats. Here are their ages. Tell me exactly what car seats to get. And they literally were like, oh, here's Kelly, the car mom. They quoted me. They know who I am. They're familiar with my work, and they gave me full credit.
B
Okay, so that's good.
A
Yeah.
B
So they didn't plagiarize?
A
No, they, they, they. Yeah, they didn't plagiarize. Okay, that's good. And then I didn't give it all those prompts, and I said, I did it on a car that I know I didn't have specific content on for three across. And it was just throwing anything but the kitchen sink. They literally were like, yeah, we're not sure this works. So you know who is sure it works? Chat cpst, which you can find over on our website. And kudos to whoever came up with that name. It was someone in my DMs, and I need to. I am plagiarizing that because I can't remember who it was.
B
Maddie did text us after it came out and gave us that idea as well.
A
Okay.
B
So I think. I think a lot of people were aligned, and we just, like, so missed it.
A
Which isn't like us, Elizabeth.
B
Well, you know what? Sometimes you just have to. I'll listen to our podC episode sometimes, and I will have a different response, because hearing it the second time and hearing in a podcast format, I just have different things to say than. I don't know. Sometimes when you are listening to things in a different context, things come to you. Like, we're. I think we were just like, so.
A
They're so into it.
B
We were so stuck.
A
Right.
B
Lead writer's block.
A
Well, speaking of Chat GPT and Chat cpst, I asked Chat GPT to write us an outline for an episode of the Carpool Podcast.
B
Okay, so we're plagiarizing this. We're plagiarizing an episode.
A
What's our podcast? Okay, to me, it's like, isn't she just our person? I'm sorry. I think it's a girl. I think everyone's gonna be different. But, like, isn't. Isn't she just, like my personal assistant? Like, go review all my episodes and then tell me, like.
B
Okay, so this is a chat. Cpst chat. GPT outline for the carpool podcast.
A
Yeah.
B
Oh, okay.
A
It's really good. Okay, I'm not gonna tell you ahead. We're just gonna go into the different segments it gave us. Segments.
B
Okay. I do have a taste drive, though, so can we work that in there? Because our taste drive is gonna count.
A
Yep. It's actually perfect. We'll do that next. Okay, so we're in our intro. Quick hellos and welcomes. Catch up on our mornings it recommended we give a funny kid quote or a chaos moment from the week.
B
Funny kid quote, Chaos moment from the week.
A
You know when you, like, can't think of a single thing you've done?
B
Yeah, I don't have anything. What did I do this weekend? We went to the library. I hate going to the library when they're James's age, which is like, what. How is it 22 months? Because it's the. He's playing with a train. He wants to train. The other kid is playing with. He says, mine. Or he says, my turn. He tries to take it from. And I have to go and interrupt and. Oh, I hate.
A
Let him share. And then the other mom goes, it's okay. He can. I hate it. The pleasantry. Let him.
B
Or worse, like, a kid takes it from him, and I'm not going to, like, rip it out of the kid's hand. So I'm like, it's okay. When really it's not okay. I hate. I hate it.
A
I hate that we don't talk about that enough. But I'm not going to, because there's nothing to say. It's just survive it. There's no etiquette.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm not going to, like. I'm not going to try to say, no. It sucks.
B
But like, me totally throwing the first stone when I see another kid, like, push a kid down for trying to take a train. I'm like, oh, my gosh, those parents. I'm kidding.
A
No, totally.
B
That's what feels good when it's not your kid.
A
That's why they're like the. The. The friends who you, like, get together with when you have kids. Like, you have to kind of, like, be on the same parenting train.
B
Yeah.
A
And I prefer the parents who are hands off. I don't get involved till there's tears.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyway.
B
No, I know.
A
Next is what's in the snack bag.
B
Oh, perfect.
A
They want us to buy five to seven minutes here. Share a new snack slash food from your grocery haul. Give your honest review. Would you pack it in the kids lunch, eat it yourself or toss it?
B
Okay. This is great because it's like they knew.
A
Are they watching us too?
B
I don't know. We have a taste drive. I have been seeing this taste dry or this, this trend for a while now and I've never tried it. But I had some crisp green grapes and I had a jello packet. Cuz I bought this jello packet months and months ago thinking I was going to make these and I never did. And they are frozen jell O grapes. So I have two types of grapes. Number one, I have just straight up frozen green grapes because everyone says it tastes like I can't. Like people love this.
A
I'll doubt it, but okay, doubt it.
B
Sounds like it's gonna taste like a frozen grape, but I'm willing to give it a go. And then I also made frozen green grapes. So I took grapes, threw them in a bag. I took a, like a little bit of a jello packet. Probably like a fourth of a jello packet.
A
What flavor Jello?
B
I got blue raspberry starburst.
A
Whoa.
B
It does have blue one in it. So I think it's gonna be because I wanted like something sour. Like I'm trying to make it a sour candy. I have no idea what blue raspberry.
A
Starburst I haven't never seen.
B
So where do you want to start? You want to start with the regular frozen grape or do you want to start with the jello?
A
I think we start with the regular. Okay. I'm not, I. Oh, I'm not. I don't think I'm gonna like the texture of this.
B
No, I know, Me too. I think I'm gonna hate it. Okay. Oh, don't you know the mic?
A
Hell, I didn't get to finish my grape. Like, can I. Can you? I'm not ready yet.
B
Yeah, yeah. It's so cold. I don't think I'm gonna eat the full one. Okay, here's what. It tastes like a grape that was frozen. It tastes like a grape that was frozen. It's hard to eat. These are big grapes.
A
Too hard to eat.
B
It's so cold. People are like obsessed with these.
A
It's like that just took me maybe it's like to help you not eat as much because that just took me 35 seconds to eat one grape.
B
It's a lot of chewing It's a lot of chewing.
A
I don't. It's. It's like. I don't like the texture. I don't like anything about that.
B
Oh, my.
A
I like grapes. It's just like. Why are you trying to get yourself a brain freeze? I'm not about that.
B
It would take me. I could eat 10 regular grapes in the time it took me to eat that one. Okay, Rough. Let's try. I made a lot of these, too.
A
Why can't you just thaw them out? And they'll probably be.
B
Yeah, probably a little soggy. Okay, so here's what the. They smell good.
A
Let me smell it.
B
It smells like a. Like a. Like a push pop. Okay. So they. They. They look good. They're like, covered in. Oh, my gosh. Okay. It tastes. Tastes good. Kelly is struggling, but it's so hard to eat. It takes so long. Kelly's still. Kelly is still chewing. Takes so long to eat because. Yeah, it's the same.
A
I had the same problems with the first time. I didn't expect that. It's not the taste, it's the consistency. It's like biting an ice cube. Like, that's not.
B
Yeah, like a soft ice cube.
A
Can people hear that?
B
I don't know.
A
Tornado sirens going off. Just a test. Just our monthly test.
B
There it is.
A
Trust me, they work. All we've done is hear them this year.
B
Yeah. Okay. Would I make again? It's not. It's not a one biter, which is weird for a grape.
A
It's almost like. Should you have cut them and then frozen them?
B
Maybe. Maybe I should have done my grape.
A
Chopper because I could see how I'd like. It's just the bite into a solid ball.
B
A solid ball. Yeah.
A
I wonder if you would have fourth of them now.
B
I'm trying to think if this would, like, scratch my itch for, like a gummy sour candy. And it might.
A
Yeah, I could see that. But I also just. How much better? Well, I guess you're eating a great. But, like, what? I don't know. I don't know.
B
Yeah, I don't know. It was weird.
A
I'm telling you, if you want a freaking. Here's the cocktail of the summer. Just listen up. It reminded me of it because of the powder. You've got to get the is element of sponsoring today's episode.
B
I don't think so.
A
No, they should. Chili mango. Now you think to yourself, I would never drink chili mango water. Like, that's not something that would. I like the other element flavors a lot, but specifically you get this chili mango. Now, if you want to make a mocktail, just put it in club soda with a lime. Delicious mocktail Tajin rim. If you're just absolutely wild.
B
Yeah.
A
If you're not having a mocktail and you're having a cocktail, add tequila. So tequila, club soda, lime add. I do like a fourth, a third. A third of the packet.
B
I think I. I had a mango chili. Cuz Element sent it to us and I think I gave it away because I was like, I don't know when I would ever drink this.
A
No, they sent it to me and I gave them away and then I had a couple and then I just reordered them.
B
Oh, okay.
A
Because it is that delicious. We went out with some friends the other day. Had like such a good night out. Like, we did like, we went to like a bar. Like, a bar that, like. I can't tell you this. My ginger is just straight up bar. Like.
B
Yeah.
A
On our way there or before we were leaving, Tyler's like, I think I'm just gonna get food there. And I'm like, no, Tyler, they don't have food. Like the bar. It's just a bar.
B
Yeah.
A
Which was just so fun. Anyway, I brought like some of the packets to share with my friends. And we were all just like, you think you're hydrating? You're not, obviously, because you're drinking tequila. But it just makes. It's no sugar and it's like no calories.
B
Yeah, sure. It's better than it's within a margarita.
A
With like sweet and sour mix.
B
Yeah.
A
But I'm telling you, it gives that. It was so.
B
I want to try.
A
Everyone needs to try that. Oh, my gosh. Remember we used to like, seltzer taste tests?
B
Yeah.
A
Gosh.
B
Then we got pregnant for like so long.
A
Like, literally the next like 25 months. Yeah. But now I'm not. And I was also thinking, sorry, I'm bouncing.
B
Yeah. You're kind of going off our script.
A
Oh, yeah. Don't tell her then. That's why I can't be replicated. That's why I can't boil down to changing. I was thinking about the age old question, how do you know when you're done having kids? Okay. And I think I don't have a great answer. But for me, something that's made me feel really good about my decision is how excited I am to get rid of the things that Libby's growing out of.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
And not. Not so much the clothes, because I think the clothes always make you feel a little like, oh, she's not that little. But I'm talking like, I'm done with the bassinet.
B
Yeah.
A
And I'm like, holy cow.
B
Yeah.
A
Out of my life.
B
That's crazy.
A
Out of my life. I've stored a bassinet for the last seven years.
B
Yeah. That's crazy.
A
Bye.
B
You probably feel lighter.
A
I do, Yeah, I do. I can't wait to get rid of the jumper thing, which she's not yet because she kind of just got into that. But that's one thing I'll. I would if I. If it wasn't wasteful, I would do a ceremonial burn because that's how excited I am to get rid of it. The bouncer.
B
I'm really excited for you to enter this just kid Mom.
A
Yeah. I'm going to crush it era. I think I'm going to crush it.
B
I think you will too.
A
Okay, let me get back to the script. Yeah.
B
I want to know what else they wrote for us.
A
Next is. Okay then I wanted us to do some pop culture and headlines, which isn't really our thing. But then I said, okay, well give me the pop culture stories because I don't know how to like scour and it again, it gives credit. The first one it wants us to talk about is that Katy Perry has an upcoming tour and documentary. Katy Perry is set to embark on the Lifetimes tour, her first global tour in seven years, starting April 23rd in Mexico City. In addition to her performance, she's in advanced talks with Prime Video to produce a behind the scenes documentary. Capturing her journey on the road doesn't.
B
Do much for me. I don't really think I'm interested in seeing her documentary.
A
No. And Katy Perry is the kind of person where. This is why I think it's so hard to be a celebrity. Because if someone gave me Katy Perry tickets, I would have to ask, how good are the seats? And if they were good, I would go, yeah. I would not buy tickets.
B
No.
A
And I would not sit in the nosebleeds.
B
No. No.
A
I don't know what kind of fan. So am I even a fan at that point or am I just looking for something to do?
B
You're looking for something to do. I would not consider myself a Katy Perry fan, but I think she's got some. I think she's got some bops, but like when she drops a new album, I'm not going to go listen to it.
A
Is anybody a Katy Perry fan or are we all just. Are we all just fair weather fans by association? I just feel like she's kind of that artist, you know?
B
Yeah, she's a grocery store artist.
A
She's a grocery store.
B
Like, isn't she going to space? When is her tour? Isn't she going to space?
A
I haven't heard that. What?
B
Yeah, Katy Perry is going to space.
A
Is Katy Perry going to space? Yes, she's going on the parts of the all female crew on the Blue Origin rocket along with Gayle King on April 14. Busy April for Katie.
B
When does her tour start?
A
Will she be back April 23rd.
B
Wait, so are they literally just going beep up and space?
A
No, they're. Yeah, they're not. They're not even orbiting. I think they literally, just literally go up. I wouldn't even call it space.
B
They're like, okay, through NASA.
A
No, through Blue Origin, which is Amazon.
B
Oh.
A
The mission aims to take the crew to the Karman Line, the internationally recognized boundary of space, 62 miles above Earth, allowing them to experience weightlessness and view the earth from space.
B
That's kind of crazy.
A
So when I think space, I think planet.
B
Yeah. So would you ever do that? Do you think space?
A
No.
B
Yeah, no, no, I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't do space. I think it would be cool to feel what weightlessness feels like. But don't they have like zero gravity chambers?
A
I mean, I don't even like. And I know, like, planes are very safe, like, statistically, but like, I don't even like to fly on a plane. I would never, as a mother. I'm sorry, like, never go to space. That seems crazy.
B
No, I would never go to space if. No desire. Yeah, but. Okay, so Katie is doing things.
A
Yeah.
B
Okay, what's the next story?
A
Okay. Kim Kardashian's skims Drive in pop up experience. This feels like it should be paid because it's like this doesn't feel like news. Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand Skims recently collaborated with Mel's Drive in to create unique pop up experience in la. The event transformed the iconic diner with skims signature aesthetic, offering fans a blend of fashion and classic Americana. She visited with her children and share moments on social media. Do you have any skims?
B
I do, I do. I have some underwear. I have. I did buy some shapewear for my wedding and have never been tinier in my life and it was like so uncomfortable. I also have skims. I have a skims bra and I have skims pajamas. I like everything I have except for the shapewear. The shapewear, which I know is what it is. Like the true Shapewear. I'm gonna stick to Spanx.
A
I like their underwear. And someone gifted us. I think you got it too.
B
Did you get them the pajamas?
A
Gifted us the pajamas. And they're long enough on us, which just goes a very long way in my book. And I do love them. I love the pajama pants.
B
They're a little cropped.
A
Oh, not for me, but they're a.
B
Little cropped on me.
A
But I don't. I just like the pajama pants. I can't do a long. I can't sleep in long shirt, long pants. My favorite combo is long pants, short shirt, short shirt.
B
I like short shorts, shorts, short shorts, short sleeve.
A
Really?
B
No, I like pants.
A
No, I tried to do pants and a short sleeve shirt.
B
Okay.
A
Okay. Well, that did.
B
That was a bad story.
A
Clearly, we're not a pop culture podcast, so they were confused. Okay. Then it gave me this new segment idea.
B
Okay.
A
Carpool category, game. This week's category, things in my purse. Go back and forth listing things in your purse. So I was thinking. I was thinking, like, let's just. First of all, are you carrying a purse these days?
B
It depends on where I'm going. Sometimes I'm carrying multiple purses.
A
Right. Here's what's in. I will give you. Let's beatbop one on one. We'll do three things that you can always find in our purse.
B
Okay.
A
Like, get really granular with it. Okay. Because I think. I think if we go back to, like, circa 2012 on YouTube, what's in my bag? I think that's what Chat GPT is trying to pull through right here.
B
Okay.
A
So think, like, stuff like that. Okay.
B
Okay.
A
You will always find multiple lip products in my purse. Today it's Merit, baby, which is the best lipstick shade I'm convinced in the world.
B
Merit is the brand, baby as the shade.
A
Merit's the brand. Baby's the shade. If you're looking for, like, a everyday nude that's a little darker than, like, flesh, it's perfect.
B
I always have a lineage sleep lip mask.
A
You're obsessed with that.
B
It's just my preferred chapstick.
A
You like the tube?
B
I like the tube.
A
The tub. The tub?
B
The tube.
A
Yeah. Okay.
B
Not the tub.
A
You like the tube.
B
I like the tube.
A
Tube and tub. You will always find a power bank. I like this one from Amazon. I own four of them. They're plugged in all over my house so I can.
B
Kelly's phone is notoriously always dead.
A
I know. What's that about? My phone's always dead. Always dead. But I have to have a power bank. And I like this one because it plugs into the wall. Because I can't imagine having to find a charger to charge my power bank. It would never be charged. So this you just plug into the wall.
B
Oh, totally. Yeah.
A
Like, it has, like, a little. It has prongs on the. You take out the prongs and it's just, like, perfect. I'm obsessed with it.
B
Okay. Something else that's just, like, always in my bag lately. I mean, I have to bring my pump with me everywhere I go. So my new pumpable load you already talked about, I'm obsessed with. So pumpkin breast milk, storage bags, Sharpie with me everywhere I go.
A
Right. Baggage.
B
Baggage.
A
I really like those built puff bars.
B
Oh, yeah, you do like those?
A
Yeah. So I always have been having one of those lately. They're really good. Elizabeth thinks they're a little artificial, which they probably totally are.
B
No, I think any. I think anyone would taste them and say that tastes a little artificial. But, I mean, that's okay. I mean, we eat a lot of artificial stuff. I like the brownie one and the coconut. Coconut one. I don't like any of the other ones.
A
The. Those are the best two flavors. And I've tried a lot of them. They're so good. They're 17 grams of protein. They're like a treat. Like, to me, they replace a treat. And it's very rare. I say, like. Like, really gets your cravings. Like those. Check my check. Check. A craving. Like, on Saturday, the kids got donuts. And I was like, I don't need to eat a donut. So I had one of those.
B
Okay.
A
And it, like, it was giving.
B
It checks the box.
A
It checks the box.
B
Okay. Let's see what else is always in my bag. A dinosaur vibes everywhere I go. Dinos.
A
Okay.
B
Well, that's the real honest truth.
A
That's what's in our bags. Chachi. BT not sure that one will come back.
B
I didn't like that one either.
A
Nope. Okay. It wants us to do something called currently obsessed. Share a product or hack you're loving this week.
B
I feel as though you could have given me this information beforehand and I could have thought about it.
A
Do you want to take a beat?
B
Yeah.
A
Okay. Okay. Something I've been currently obsessed with are my red sneakers.
B
Yeah. Really?
A
Yeah. And I didn't think. I can't explain why. I was just so drawn to them. And I was like, I should wear red sneakers.
B
Yeah.
A
And I can't believe how much they go With.
B
Yeah, I want to buy some, but I. I really can't. I don't think I can pick a different color. Fear that. No, because red sneakers are in. Cal.
A
Yeah, red sneakers are in.
B
So what am I gonna do? I'll pick yellow sneakers.
A
No, those aren't as cool.
B
No, I like the pop and the drama. It's the unexpected red theory.
A
It's the unexpected red theory. Yeah, I'm really, really into them. Like, I've been wearing them at least two to three times a week, which, I mean, I wear sneakers almost. I wear sneakers every day.
B
But, yeah, red is really, really making a comeback. I think in the red sneakers. I think in the unexpected red theory, I am doing, like. I've been really loving interior design Instagrams lately. And the thing is, we're moving, so pass from the neutrals and the millennial gray, as they're calling it, and they're going so into color, and it's like, if you want your home to look warm and cozy and lived in, it's like you pick a color and then you also, you do multiple colors. So, like, right now, my color is blue. And basically, if it's blue, I think blue and cream and white. And if I think if that matches, and they all match. But what the interior designers are saying is, like, throw a red in there, warm it up, pick multiple colors, patterns, and I'm like, so into it.
A
And see, I'm so on board with that kind of stuff. Once I don't have so many toys as decor.
B
Yeah.
A
You know.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm just very much the kind of person where I don't get wrong. I think I've done a really good job, like, making my house and look nice. Like, especially compared to my last house, which just like, I didn't do anything to my last house, but. And there's more stuff I could do, but I'm also just like, no, let's just take a beat. Let's just get through. Like, once the bouncer's out. Once. Once there's.
B
Once the bouncer's out, you'll have room for more stuff.
A
I'll have room for more stuff. I just. There's nothing. To me, it gives me anxiety to have, like, a super decorated house and then have a lot of toys.
B
Yeah, I get that.
A
You know, I get that.
B
I think we're all kind of in the same boat.
A
Yeah, totally.
B
Anyway, something that I have been, like, loving, and it's kind of changed my life lately, is I cleaned out my car after we had our conversation, and I mean, I took it to the, I took it to the car wash, I vacuumed it out. I took the car wash spray or our car wash spray. I cleaned like I did a full blown. I took an air tool. Like I did everything. The air tool. I did the air tool. And it feels amazing. And every time I get in my car now, I feel better and I feel good and I don't feel stressed out. And I just want to say car care of self care.
A
Wow.
B
Car care, self care, taking care of your car cleaning, doing a good deep clean of your heart, getting it to as close to new as possible. Every time I get in my car, I haven't. I have a serotonin boost. It smells good, it looks good, I feel good. And I would almost even say it helps that I cleaned out the, the back because, you know, the back always needs it. But even just my viewpoint of when I get into the driver's seat, like, my, my mats are clean, there's no clutter, there's no milk stains, there's no fingerprints. If you just even do the front, I think that will give you the same serotonin boost.
A
Well, that's a really good point because I feel like it can be so overwhelming if you have three row suv. Like that feels so overwhelming to clean the entirety of it. And that's something that's, I think hard to maintain on a daily basis. And also like, what's hard about cars is, you know, your kids come in, like there's dirt. It's not disgusting. It's like the dirt of the playground that day or whatever. But I do think there's like some solid processes that you can like set up to just slow down the messiness of your kids. I think one of the best ones is you just have to empty it as often as possible. And like, if you only had 30 seconds to like just fill a laundry basket, take things out of your car. That's why you also like never catch me. Like, it's very. I, I don't do these like really elaborate restocks of my car. And because it's just crap, it all ends up just being crap on the floor.
B
Yeah.
A
Less is more. Take it all out.
B
Yeah.
A
And then I'm with you. Like if you can clean the driver's.
B
Seat, whatever you see and you touch and you feel if you can clean those areas first, it really makes a difference. And you know, they send me home from daycare with art that James made, which is, or Sloan makes, which is nothing. And so I take it and I shove it in the side of my. Of my door. And when my car was dirty, it would sit there for days to weeks. Since I just cleaned my car, that was the only thing that was standing out to me that was not tidy. So I took it out the same day and I threw it away, which was always my plan, but it was because it was so clean there, I felt the need to maintain it and keep it up. So. And so, yeah, I'm just. I'm really car care, self care. And that's kind of my new mantra and it's kind of changed my life.
A
Well, and clean cars drive better.
B
Well, and we all know that clean cars drive better.
A
Yeah. I think that's really profound of you.
B
Thank you, Chachi.
A
PT could never come up with that. Okay. That is kind of all I had for me. It wants me to give the classic carpools leaving the driveway. See you next time. Which is not a very good tagline.
B
No. But you know what? Speaking of Chat gbt, someone wrote in to our email and said I was trying to get Chat GBT to give us a good tagline for ceiling vents. And she said they didn't really have very good ones, except for where we air what's real and say what we feel, which is like, kind of good.
A
I like that.
B
Where we air what's real and say what? Say we feel. And then she also asked Chachi BT what's a funny name of a podcast segment in Car related Podcast. And the point of the segment is to vent or just share something that's really bothering us. And this is what ChatGPT came up with. The glove box gripes, where we pop open the glove box and pull out our petty frustrations. Number two, dashboard rants. Because sometimes you just need to scream at the speedometer.
A
I hate these.
B
Check engine light. It's on. And so are we. Time to diagnose what's driving us mad.
A
I hate.
B
These overheated things are running hot and we've got some steam to blow off.
A
Oh, Chachi BT's chuggy.
B
There's a few more.
A
Let's stop. I don't need to hear anymore.
B
The exhaust pipe where we let it all out one fume at a time.
A
I like ceiling vents where we. Say it again.
B
Ceiling vents where we air what's real and say what we feel.
A
Okay. Ceiling events where we air what's real and say what we feel.
B
Wait, there's. They get better. I think. I think these are good. Honk if you're angry. Unfiltered, unapologetic and just a little loud. Do you think you don't like it because of the way I'm saying it?
A
Yeah, I think that's a big part of it. I'm also just kind of. I think we've kind of chat GPT ourself out of this episode, and you kind of sound like you're trying to be a Real Housewives giving a tagline. Can you see. Can you see where I got that? The way you're saying it?
B
Backseat driver's anonymous, judgy, loud and full of complaints, just like your uncle in traffic. All right, fine.
A
Well, it was just a lot, too.
B
Well, you know, they gave a lot of options.
A
So, anyway, my ceiling events where I let it all out is Elizabeth's voice when she says things like that. And frozen grapes are my current ceiling event.
B
Yeah, but you keep eating them.
A
They're available.
B
They're. It's weird. It's a four biter. I should have chopped them.
A
So I think that's that. Yeah, we'll. We'll improve.
B
We'll improve.
A
Okay, well, after done with the chatgpt talk. I'm sorry, you guys. I feel like this could kind of a flop. I won't do that again. I want to get to industry news, though, where I spill the hot tea going on in the auto industry because a big story has come out. Actually, it came out March 14th. I don't know how I missed it. Like, what was I doing on March 14th?
B
Oh, Arizona.
A
That's why I missed it. And that's just the news cycle. Like, then instead of, like, bringing it across my desk, like, my algorithm should know that I was busy bringing across my desk later. Yeah, it's just then things move on. That's what you got to watch about the news cycle. Things move on too fast. Anyway, the IHS came out with their top safety pick list for 2025. Let's review, because I hate the question. Here's a big ceiling event of mine. We were like, why are they just now testing for this? It's like, because they just got the money. They're a charity, basically. They're independently funding. Okay. If you want to take up with somebody, take it up with nitsa, or you're the manufacturers for why they're not testing it. And, like, don't even give me. I mean, the way that vehicles get crash tested. I'm not saying it doesn't matter. I'm saying it's a piece of the puzzle. Right? Because there's a lot of other things that go into car accidents. Than truthfully, just even the crash ratings. Okay. Anyway. But I do like the IHS because they're always making new tests. So like they're constantly challenging manufacturers and they basically just become like such a, what's like the word? Like a thought leader. And this not a thought leader. They, they have enough of a reputation where the manufacturers actually care. Like we don't have the, I mean I would like to live in a world where the manufacturers care what we say. But then like the Suburban didn't put headrest out for 2025.
B
So they're not that worried.
A
They're not that worried about what I have to say, but they are worried about what the IHS has to say. So now to be a top Safety pick and a top Safety Pick plus which ihs, if you're listening, you could use a rebrand on those names because just to get something A plus. I don't like that because it's two awards but I have to say top safety pick and Top Safety pick plus. It's a mouthful. Let's just either. I don't know what the solution is. Maybe they could ask ChatGPT. But just let's name them something different. Let's combine them into one list. I don't know, figure it out. But anyway, it took the list. So now that they added the second row. Let me back up. Now they're crash testing the second row passengers and what happens to them. Now it's on an adult dummy in the second row. So it doesn't totally tell us what it means for kids in car seat, what it even means for like booster age children. Because a lot of that is how the car seat kept your kids safe. Because this one's relying, this test is seeing how well the car itself kept the person safe. When you add a car seat, it's a whole other variable. But anyway, it took the list. Now that that test is in the top Safety pick awards. It took the list from 71 cars that qualified to only 42.
B
Crazy.
A
And a lot of the mid sized 3 row SUV's who were previously on the list are now off the list which is like drama, drama red pajamas on the top safety pick plus list. Okay, we have the Kia Telluride, the Mazda CX90, the Nissan Pathfinder.
B
Huge one for the Nissan Pathfinder.
A
It's always, it's, I'm telling you, it's.
B
It'S always the Pathfinder.
A
It's always coming up Pathfinder. I know, I forgot what I was saying. XC90, infinity QX80. Those are like the big ones. You can, you can look on their website because they also have like some cars and some smaller SUVs, but those are the big ones. Top safety pick which is still very impressive. It's just the requirements A little bit lower was the Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot Chevy Traverse. Huge one for the Chevy Traverse, AKA the car mom car of the year. Thank goodness it was on there.
B
Thank goodness because we had to pick that car before. I know the safety ratings came out.
A
And yeah. Glaringly missing the minivans and the full size SUVs. Glaringly missing them. So yeah, hopefully that they'll get improved.
B
But again that's why they do. And that's why.
A
And that's why they do that. This is not to make anybody feel bad and truthful. I mean it's not.
B
No, it is not to make the consumer feel bad. It's to make the manufacturer and it's just, it's.
A
But I. Whenever one of these things happen, like whatever decision you make as a parent, you just have to. All the best that you can do is to make the best decision with the information you have at the time. So like if you have a, like a Ford Explorer, like don't have a pit about it because it's not on this list.
B
Like you have a Ford Expedition, it's not on the list. You don't. There's nothing else that's gonna fit your family.
A
No, I'm not Pittsville USA and my kids are in car seats and there's. And I'm just. Again, it's a piece of the puzzle. It's just a piece of the puzzle. So I want to report on it because I want you to feel empowered and I think empowerment is knowledge and then being able to do with that decision with what you will. But so anyway, that's the, that's the hot tea one. On the auto industry outside of tariff bills are changing by the day and I'm exhausted on keeping up with it, to be honest. And I was over the weekend I was talking to a lot of dealers because that's just like I think the dealers give a good perspective on this because they're hearing things from the manufacturer. Whereas like a lot of these other like quote unquote, like automotive people, like they're not hearing it directly and at the end of the day none of the dealers can give me a straightforward answer on what's going to happen because nobody knows. Like they're all. It's just, it's speculation station and you've got to be careful about that, you know.
B
Yeah.
A
And that's industry news, where I spill the hot tea going around the auto industry.
B
Okay, well, now it is time for Ditch the Drive through, where we give you an easy dinner recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner rut. And I'm actually making this tonight, so I want to share it. So I am.
A
And then I want to share. I have one, too. I would like to share.
B
Well, why don't you.
A
No, let's do it together.
B
But, Kelly, we have more episodes.
A
Well, I have more recipes.
B
Oh, my gosh. You drive me crazy.
A
You drive me crazy. I kind of like that we're giving some sass on this. On this episode.
B
Okay, so I found this on Instagram from the Flexible Dieting Lifestyle is his handle. I did my Pinterest hack where I just search whole food recipes, and this one looks good. It's a chicken tender recipe. So he just, like, takes chicken tenders and he does, like, a blackened seasoning, which I've never used. A blackened.
A
Blackened seasoning.
B
I don't know. I have it in my instacart. I'm going to. I'm going to.
A
Oh, it's a full. Oh, it's like. It's not a combination of seasonings.
B
No, it's. It's a. You can buy it. It's called blackened seasoning.
A
So interesting.
B
Here's what you're doing, and this is where things are different. This is where I think that we're getting, like, a juicy tender is. I'm going to put the blackened seasoning on them and then put them in a pan and cook them. Like, you would think you would just cook chicken tenders in a pan, but then he pours chicken broth or chicken stock or something into the pan and covers.
A
It's such a chef movie.
B
It's such a chef moving. So then it's gonna, like, suck up all those juices, and it's not gonna be this sort of grody, dry chicken. I think it's gonna be, like, a juicy chicken.
A
You'll have to give us posted.
B
I know I'm gonna make it tonight.
A
Because the way the chicken. I. I find chicken to be one of the hardest proteins to prepare. It's. It's hard to mess up beef. But I'm doing a Chicken is very hard to.
B
Yeah, yeah, I do.
A
In the way you cut it and the way you sear it and the way you season it. Like, it's just got so much, and.
B
It can go south really easily. So it's it's hard to mess up a steak.
A
Okay, well, tonight for dinner, I am making. Or tomorrow for dinner, I am making. What's. It's just like when you take a Chuck roast, instead of doing a Mississippi roast, we just do the taco seasoning.
B
Yeah. It's like a car. Like a carne asada.
A
I'm doing Chuck roast tacos, which is, like. It's probably the most American way to say that, which will be yums. But. But I'm trying to do the. What was that thing that we came up with when it was like, a wow moment?
B
Remember? I don't know what you're talking about.
A
Remember I was like, keep it super.
B
Simple and kiss ass.
A
Keep it super simple.
B
Add.
A
Add sass.
B
Some sass.
A
Add some sass. So I'm keeping it super simple, adding some sass by doing the Chuck roast with the taco seasoning. But I'm making my own pico de gallo.
B
Oh, good for you.
A
Yeah. You know it's in pico de gallo.
B
Do I want to know?
A
Yeah. Do you know?
B
I'm gonna say tomatoes, peppers, onions, lime juice, seasonings.
A
Cilantro.
B
Cilantro, yeah.
A
You kind of nailed it. Jalapeno pepper.
B
Yeah, pepper.
A
So that's what I'm gonna make.
B
Okay. Yum.
A
Yeah.
B
Okay, guys. Well, I think that's gonna be our episode.
A
I think it should be.

Podcast Summary: "CHAT GPT IS NOT COMING FOR US" - The Carpool with Kelly and Lizz
Release Date: April 8, 2025
Introduction: Tax Hacks and Spring Struggles
In the latest episode of The Carpool with Kelly and Lizz, hosts Kelly Stumpe and Lizz St. John kick off the conversation by sharing a simple yet effective tax hack. Kelly excitedly announces, "We just leveled up our tax game" ([00:01]), referring to her switch to H&R Block, which streamlined her tax filing process by allowing her to drag and drop last year's return into the platform. This sets a relatable tone for listeners juggling busy family lives.
As spring settles in, Kelly and Lizz delve into the unpredictable Midwest weather, discussing the frustration of inconsistent temperatures and frequent storms. Kelly expresses her longing for sunshine, remarking, "I'm tired of it. I want some sunshine. My poor kids" ([01:18]). They humorously debate the necessity of a spring wardrobe, with Kelly stating, "I hate picking an outfit for church those days, too" ([03:10]), highlighting the daily challenges of balancing style and practicality.
Chat GPT: Embracing and Questioning AI
A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to discussing Chat GPT and its impact on their lives and the broader world. Kelly shares her mixed feelings about AI, acknowledging both its convenience and the fears it brings: "There are things that are scary about how accessible information is and how it can maybe replace some jobs" ([04:03]). She reflects on a podcast she listened to, noting, "Humans are lazy, and that laziness will always propel us to have more innovation than the AI" ([04:41]).
Lizz raises concerns about the potential misuse of AI-generated content, particularly images and videos that can mimic real people, stating, "The scary part about it is the images and the photos and the videos that they're able to create and how they can mimic" ([05:03]). Both hosts discuss the ethical implications of using Chat GPT for tasks like writing Instagram captions. Kelly admits feeling conflicted, saying, "That feels like cheating" ([06:07]), while Lizz reassures her, emphasizing that using AI for benign purposes isn't wrong: "There's nothing wrong" ([06:04]).
Interactive Segments: Taste Drive and In-Car Self Care
Taste Drive:
The hosts engage in an interactive segment inspired by Chat GPT’s suggestions, where they review new snacks from their grocery hauls. Kelly and Lizz experiment with frozen grapes and a jello-grape hybrid. Kelly describes the frozen grapes as "too hard to eat" ([12:09]), while Lizz expresses tentative approval for the jello version despite its "artificial taste" ([12:24]). Their candid reviews provide listeners with honest insights into unconventional snack ideas.
Car Care, Self Care:
Lizz shares her transformative experience of thoroughly cleaning her car, coining the mantra "car care, self care." She explains, "Every time I get in my car now, I have a serotonin boost" ([28:32]). Kelly echoes the sentiment, discussing the challenges of maintaining a clean vehicle with three kids: "There's nothing to me, it gives me anxiety to have a super decorated house and then have a lot of toys" ([30:09]). They offer practical tips for keeping a family car tidy, emphasizing the mental health benefits of a clutter-free environment.
Pop Culture and Headlines: Celebrity News and Reflections
Kelly and Lizz touch on recent pop culture news, including Katy Perry’s upcoming global tour and her space flight with Blue Origin. Kelly humorously critiques the practicality of attending a Katy Perry concert, questioning her own fandom: "I don't know what kind of fan... am I even a fan at that point or am I just looking for something to do?" ([18:06]). They also discuss Kim Kardashian's Skims collaboration with Mel’s Drive-In, sharing their personal experiences with Skims products. Lizz comments on the discomfort of Skims shapewear, preferring Spanx instead: "I have some underwear... but the shapewear is uncomfortable" ([21:06]).
Auto Industry Insights: IHS Top Safety Picks 2025
Transitioning to auto industry news, Kelly discusses the IHS Top Safety Picks list for 2025, offering her critique on the new testing methodologies. She highlights, "They are crash testing the second row passengers and what happens to them" ([35:11]), questioning the relevance of these tests for families with car seats. The list now includes praised models like the Kia Telluride and Mazda CX90 but excludes many mid-sized three-row SUVs that were previously favorites. Kelly emphasizes the importance of using such ratings as one part of the decision-making process for parents: "It's a piece of the puzzle. It's just a piece of the puzzle" ([37:39]).
Ditch the Drive-Through: Easy Dinner Recipes
In another interactive segment, "Ditch the Drive-Through," Kelly and Lizz share simple, family-friendly dinner recipes designed to reduce reliance on takeout. Lizz introduces a chicken tender recipe with blackened seasoning for juicy, flavorful results, while Kelly shares her own recipe for Chuck roast tacos with homemade pico de gallo. These segments highlight their commitment to providing practical solutions for busy parents seeking to diversify their meal planning.
Conclusion: Reflections on AI and Authenticity
As the episode wraps up, Kelly and Lizz reflect on the role of AI in their podcasting process. They acknowledge the potential for over-reliance on technology but reaffirm their dedication to maintaining their unique voices and personal touches. Kelly jokes, "We've kind of chat GPT ourself out of this episode," ([33:07]) highlighting the balance between leveraging AI tools and preserving authenticity.
