Welcome to the carpool podcast with Kelly. I am so ready for Dancing with the Stars in football season to come back. Like, I didn't know how good I had it back in September. October.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, I just didn't realize how good I had it.
C
And, Liz, this SPD pain is just so ridiculous and annoying that, like, I'm not even fully ready to have a third child. I'm just so ready to no longer be pregnant.
A
Your mom time off starts now. Welcome back to the car podcast with Kelly and Liz. Wow, you're gracing our presence for potentially the final week.
C
It is. If I'm on it is a grace of presence because I'm telling you, this week, I'm feeling different. Yeah, things are feeling laborious.
A
Oh, like labor.
C
Ish labor. You know, it's just like, I'm like, oh, that's different. Like, things are feeling like. You obviously are constantly Googling, like, trying to grasp at straws for any potential sign of early labor. And when they're not happening, they're not happening. And now I'm like, no, things are feeling different.
A
My thing is, like, you're 38 weeks. You're in labor. Like, you might labor for the next two weeks, but, like, you are to me, you're in labor.
C
So this week I am seeing my OB and I'm going to get acupuncture at 38 weeks, and I got acupuncture at 38 weeks with Sloan, and. And that ended up putting me into labor the next night. So that's kind of what I'm hoping for because frankly, this SPD pain is just so ridiculous and annoying that, like, I'm not even fully ready to have a third child. I'm just so ready to no longer be pregnant because it is affecting everyone in my household.
A
Yeah.
C
In a bad way.
A
Yeah, you're. I feel so bad for you. Like, you're so hard to watch. It's so sad. It's. It's very sad how much pain you're in.
C
No, it is really sad because I. One of my favorite things that Instagram you can do on Instagram is you can look at any story you've ever posted on your archive. So I went to September of 2024, which is when Sloan was born, because I wanted to see what I was doing leading up to Sloan being born. And I am going on walks every night. Like, every day. Like, I'm curb walking. Like, I'm doing everything. Can't make it out to the curb. Can't. I'm not bouncing a ball. Like, I'M not doing, I'm not doing any of these things because it's, it hurts and it's crazy. But I guess it's just a thing that happens. So, you know, in the future I'm gonna, I got a pelvic floor therapist. I'm gonna go for the, the full eight weeks. Do the things get that figured out? And also this pregnancy I like, did not work out cuz I felt so sick at the beginning. And this is the first pregnancy that I haven't been active as active in. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but I'm really afraid for this to ever happen again because it is so awful.
A
I'm so.
C
It's like laying down in bed is the. I like, used to love getting in bed and now I'm like, oh no, it's time to lay in bed because that's the most painful part. But anyway, I don't want to complain.
A
I think you have every right to complain. I'm like, really stressed about this.
C
It's fine. It's almost over. And you know what? This is so crazy, but this was, this was a mental switch for me. And it's actually inspired by my husband. So, Maddie, the only time of day that he has to work out is after everyone goes to sleep because he goes to work early. When he's home, he's like full. Like he's fully on dad mode. And then he puts a kid to bed and then at like 9, 10pm he goes on a run, which after you've had a very long day, that's hard to do. And so sometimes he doesn't always have the motivation. So he said, elizabeth, I need you to tell me to stop being a little BE and go on a run. I'm like, maddie, I would never say that to you. Like, I would never utter those words to my husband. Stop being a little b. You know, I'm. This is a clean podcast, but you can imagine what I'm saying. He's like, elizabeth, I need you. I just need you to say it. So I'm like, okay. So I said it to him. And I'm like, I'm so sorry. I don't, I don't mean anything. He goes. Now he's like, he's been running so consistently, he goes, when I don't want to run or I'm getting too tired in the middle of the run, I replay the moment of my wife saying that to me. And he's like, it works. And I'm like, okay. Again, things I would never actually say in sincerity are those words to you. But it worked for him. And so the other day, I'm like waddling to the bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror. I'm like, elizabeth, stop being a little beat. And I was like, I get it, I'm in pain. But like, it can only go on for so much longer. And it was a mental switch for me. Now if my husband said that to me, I would punch him. Like, I would not work out. But me telling myself to just like push through and to stop, just like minimize it in my head, it helped.
A
I would say, whatever's working for you, you know what, whatever gets you through. Like that sound. That's. I'm not going to dive into that with you right now. I'm glad it's working. That's just all I'm going to end it at.
C
You know, even if, even if it worked for two days, it got me two days. Bought me two days. Gotta do what you gotta do.
A
Yeah. Well, we have a great episode for you guys today. We do. We have a interview at the end of this episode with Enterprise. Pretty like iconic interview, if you ask me. Always a great ditch to drive through. Our guests are really turning out our. Just ditch the drive throughs lately.
C
Which, thank goodness, speaking of ditches the
A
drive thru, I, I have come up with probably the best idea I've ever had.
C
Okay.
A
And I have started taking photos of the dinners I make and saving them to an album titled Dinners.
B
Yeah.
A
And here's why this is so genius. I kind of realized that a lot of my meals are not recipes. And like when you say, like, what should I do for dinner? All you get is bombarded with all these recipes. And sometimes it's just as simple as carb, veggie protein. Carb, veggie protein. And like it's like we always say, keep it super simple, add sassy sauce. We always are saying that. And I kind of realized like that like some of those, those are some of like the easiest, best, healthiest, quickest, true. Like weeknight meals. Like to me, a weeknight meal is not necessarily like even sometimes like a one pot chicken with orza. Like, I'm sorry, get out of here. Like, it's like that, that's sometimes too much. Just like conceptualize. And of course we've all had the moment. We're like sitting in the grocery store parking lot and like, why can I not remember any meal I've ever made?
C
Yeah.
A
So I started taking pictures of, of my dinners, saving them to an album. And I have taken pictures of my dinners frequently. And one thing I love about the Apple iPhone is now maybe you've been to this for a while. I've just recently discovered it. Now you can search in your photos. So I searched stove and I found other photos of, like, food I had made on the stove and added them to the album. And then within the album, you can add captions to photos. Or what I just like to do is upload it to Instagram, write my text on the photo, and then save it and save that one just in case, Like, I don't remember, like, what it is. Like, for example, I just added my cube steaks. Like, what if I didn't know those were cube steaks? Which, by the way, I thought it was a good recipe. It was so average. Like, I hate cube steak. And now I'm like, once I have like two months worth of pictures in there, how fun would it be to be like, hey, door Teddy. And Freddie, he go through all these pictures and tell me which five things you want for dinner this week.
C
Yeah.
A
Like, so fun, right?
C
Yeah. I see this girl that she, like, meal preps for a month or a week or something, and she has like, Mondays options, which are. There's only. There's like 20 options she'll make for a Monday. And she circles them and like, really, if you had enough, you could, like, make a book and laminate them and let your kids go through and like, circle what they want for the week and then like, the. The mental load.
A
Yeah, I know. And I just, like, love. All I want to do is make. Make meals that my family. That my family enjoys. So that's why I love the idea of it being like, what did you guys like, you know?
C
Yeah. Well, you know, sometimes I'm such a. You know me, I'm such a visual person with my food. Like, I have. When I was sick, I had, like, sick with pregnancy. I had to watch people eat and see the photos of this stuff to know if it really sounded good to me.
A
That was so weird.
C
There's something there too. I don't think. I think that's normal.
A
Yeah, no, totally.
C
I mean, food influencers or food. I don't know. Mukbang people are successful for a reason because people like watching the meat.
A
So people like to watch that.
B
Sorry.
C
I'm one of those people.
A
So that's kind of been like, my biggest development. And today I am. If it sounds like I'm rushing through this episode, it's only because I have to host about I don't want to tally it up, but I'm hosting Georgia's entire kindergarten class, plus parents and siblings. Or, sorry, his first grade class, plus parents and siblings, over at my house tonight for an ice cream social. And if you think, oh, that sounds exhausting, it can't get much worse. The next night, I'm doing Hattie's entire class with siblings and parents.
C
If you think, Costa sounds exhausting, you can't much get much worse. That's also. Also 97 degrees. The heat index yesterday was 117.
A
Well, and yeah. And if you think you can't get much worse than that. On Wednesday, I leave for Kentucky. Mm. So this is, like, the most relaxed I'll be over the next 72 hours right here. You're getting me kind of at my peak. Why am I doing it? Well, transparently, one, I'm doing an ad with China, and I'm very excited about it because this was my concept. And they were. They were like, we want to work with you. I'm like, I want to throw an ice cream social. And they're like, how can we help? Like, send the paper products?
C
I think it is a great idea, Kelly, and I think it really sets the stage for the. For who you are.
A
It does.
C
And it's on brand for you. And I know that it's, like, a lot, and you maybe would have not fully committed if you didn't have, like, a brand commitment to it, but I do think this is a good idea. And I see when Fred is in third grade and you. You, like, you're gonna do ice cream socials every day, every year, and the Stumpies are gonna be ice cream social people, and it's gonna be, like, a core memory that your kids look forward to.
A
My kids are so excited to host these parties, and they feel. They feel like their parties, and I like that it's a party that they feel like they have ownership over. That's not a birthday party because, like, they know they're not getting gifts. They know their day is not about them. The day's about the guests that we're inviting over. And I'm tell. I'm just telling you, like, hosting is, like, such a dying art, and it's an art that I just will not let die. I'm. I'm. I'm going to turn it up and turn it out it.
C
And I. I did see your Amazon cart. Like, you did. Have you ordered ice cream decor? But really, you didn't even have to do that. Like, it's ice cream. It's toppings. It's not. You can make it cheap like as cheap as you can like it's not, it's the easiest way to host that many people.
A
I totally agree.
C
I'm very happy you're doing it and I'm inspired and I would like to do it.
A
Yes. And it's also, it's, it's a driveway party. So Yeah, I mean the house is open for bathroom use but it's not a come inside my house party. It's not a we're swimming party. It's a stop by my driveway, bring a lawn chair. We have yard games and ice cream. I have pushed the time back until not a 7pm start time. It's like a 7 to 8:30 kind of vibe to kind of escape the heat a little bit. It'll be fine. I walked out so it's, we're doing it in my driveway. It'll be completely covered in the shade. We kind of live on top of a hill. There's a little breeze. I was outside last night at 6:30 and I was fine. Yeah, I was fine. I was in a tank top. It was with some ice cream. But yeah, so I, I, I'm very, I'm excited to do this. I think, I do think and fear it is probably a new tradition but I just think it's important. I think fellowship community, you know is just a big part.
C
I'm like I'm about to go as far to say that I think you
B
need to find an ice cream banner
C
and like you need a banner.
A
I don't disagree with you. I don't disagree.
C
Speaking of back to school, James is starting preschool and I got like the buzz or the parent handbook or whatever so I'm like reading through it. Really bad news for us Cal. James has to be on the passenger side to load and unload. I thought for preschool this was like a I an I walk him in situation. No. So we have to totally rework the way that we have set up my Kia Carnival. We have to reverse it.
A
Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Hey, here's the good news about the Kia Carnival.
C
It can handle it cuz carnival can handle it. But I'm like I need some clarity after reading this handbook because they're like parents do not get out of the car. So they're going to walk him out and then I have to drive up to another area to get out of the car to buckle him in or something. This is the way it sounds to me. Like are people they really not giving parents time to like, properly buckle their kids in the car seat.
A
No, it is. And that's not okay. And you're gonna push back on that and take this with such a grain of salt. But, like, I am so fatigued from the intense pickup and drop off lines. Like, I'm sorry, if, if you have that many people and it takes that long, find another solutions. That's, that's not driving a kid away who's. While they're not buckled. Like, let's rework the solution. Just, like, there's got to be another way. Do two lines make the window longer? Have less kids. Like, I'm. I'm sorry. Like, and people love. People get so defensive about how their school does it. And, like, I'll get some. I even get some nasty messages, like, from some teachers sometimes being like, you don't understand how long it takes. I'm like, you don't understand then. And that's fine. That can be true. But then we have to find another way to do it. The solution is not don't buckle a child in what I would argue is a very dangerous situation when you have a bunch of cars, a bunch of moving parts, traveling at low speeds, trying to multitask, maybe not paying attention. A crash at 10 miles an hour with a kid who's unrestrained can be incredibly dangerous. So I'm actually not interested in hearing the why, and I'm interested in hearing the how we're gonna fix it so kids can be buckled before the vehicle starts moving. That's what I'm interested in hearing.
C
That's what I'm, that's what I'm saying. And I don't know if it's like a pole five feet ahead, I don't know, like, but I'm not really interested in any of it. Because if it's like a safety thing, like a security thing, like, they want, like, I pull up, I have my, my number, they go get my kid. Okay, we're trying to keep the children safe. What's another part of keeping them safe? Like, just. Because then once they're in my car, it's my, it's my issue. Like, do you actually care about keeping the kids safe? Like, so I don't know. I need some clarity on it because it's also like, he's.
B
He's three.
A
Like, you probably will have the option to walk him in. Most schools, in my experience, will let you be like, if you want to walk in, park here and walk in.
C
Okay, see, because I think I, I think the handbook was, like, generic for, like, the entire preschool to include like five plus, which still is not okay to drive away with a child unrestrained. But maybe they can kind of do it themselves a little bit more at that point. I need some clarity. But they did say that they needed to put him. I need to move him on the passenger side. So I got to rework my car, which is a shame, but it's fine.
A
I don't like it.
C
I don't like it either.
A
Yeah, no, I don't. I don't like it at all, to be honest with you.
B

What else do we have to talk about before we get to our interview? Oh, I've been watching the next pro Dancing with the Stars. Consider the itch scratched if. Have you been watching it, Liz?
C
I have not been watching anything.
A
Save it. Just save. It's a. Would be a great maternity leave show, but it comes out on Tuesdays. It's totally scratching my DWTS itch.
C
And really, even though there's not like. Like a celebrity attachment to it.
A
Yes, because you get the. The judges are the dancers, which, like, so it's like Mark Wallace and his mom are like the head judges, and they're always bringing in a guest judge and the dancers do performances every single episode. And one's there and you really, like. I really don't know how they're going to pick one because these dancers are so talented.
C
Yeah.
A
Like, it's so. It's so much harder than Dancing with the Stars because, like, on Dancing with the Stars, someone would get eliminated, but you'd be like, well, yeah, but that so and so was better.
B
Sure.
A
They are all excellent dancers and they've given their entire life to this. And then they're cut for what? For. For something that Sherry Ballas must have taken a magnifying glass to see. A misstep. Like, it's so. It's genuinely so sad. Like, I wish they could just hire them all.
C
Yeah, they're going to get you really excited for the next season.
A
No, Elizabeth, I am so ready for Dancing with the Stars in football season to come back. Like, I didn't know how good I had it back in September. October.
C
Yeah.
A
Like, I just didn't realize how good I had it.
B
Yeah.
C
You don't know what you have till it's gone.
A
No. And I. So I'm so excited for football. I'm so excited for dwts. I'm just. I am so ready for not. I'm not even ready for cold fall. I'm just ready for, like, September. But I'm also ready for August. It's my birthday. It's gonna be a Great. My kids are starting back to school. Like you're having a baby.
C
There's so much to look forward to. Yeah, I, I will save that for maternity leave. I also, I'm going to save the show.
B
Elle.
A
Oh, yeah, I've heard good things.
C
And I actually the other day, like both my kids were napping and Maddie was like cleaning the house and I'm like, I think I'm going to sit on the couch. And he was like, turn on a show. And I'm like, I don't even have a show to turn on.
A
Yeah.
C
So I went to Netflix, found out that Little House on the Prairie, they came out with like a 20, 26, like eight episodes. So I started it and I got like 15 minutes into it before I could no longer watch TV because someone needed me. But that's what I'm going to watch too. That's my watch list.
A
I also miss who I was when I still had Desperate Housewives episodes to watch.
C
Yeah. Yeah. It's really annoying because I only watch TV if I'm folding laundry. Like I don't watch before. Like I. I just don't watch TV these days. There's just. I just don't have the time but to fold my laundry and not have like an immediate go to show. It's really depressing because it's like the.
A
Yeah.
C
Only thing that got me through, I think folding. I did not. Folding. Putting away laundry is my least favorite chore.
A
Not mine.
C
What's your least favorite chore?
A
Dishes. I've always been this way.
C
I know. Putting them away or loading them unloaded.
A
Dishwasher.
D
Hate.
C
Hey. I really don't like it's unloading dishwasher and putting my clothes. I don't like putting things away.
A
Totally.
C
But I'm going to have it put away.
A
I hate the dishes. Well, good. Maybe we can send you some like wrecks if people need anything else to watch.
C
But yeah, those are three, so I feel like those will get me a decent amount into it.
A
Yeah. I mean, I don't think you're gonna have that much time, to be honest with you.
C
I don't. Yeah, I think I'll be trying to sleep a lot, frankly.
A
Yeah. But yeah, I just want to let anyone know if they're considering watching it. It's great. There's a little drama. Like I'm just, I'm. I love it. You know what it is? It's. You know what dancing with with the next pro is? It's a non embarrassing version of Love Island. Like I have not Watched Love Island. I tried to turn on one episode of this, and I was like, I am too old and, frankly, too Catholic to watch this kind of show. Like, it is a disgusting show. Love Island. Sorry. It's disgusting. It's dumb. It's disgusting. It's what Everything that's wrong with our culture. That's. That's what I have to say. And there's one thing to have a. I'm all about, like, a guilty pleasure show, and then there's straight up, like, whatever the heck Love island is, and it's so dumb. But the next pro. It's like, they're doing something. It's a competition. There's a little drama between the. Between the dancers.
C
But, I mean, talk about people, too, that, like, deserve, like, fame. Like, at least they have a skill. Like, I haven't. I haven't watched Love island since 2018, maybe 2019. So I don't know what it's like these days. But I have seen other re, like, just dating shows that are clearly just who can be the most outrageous. Like, yeah, people are just. They're just hard. They're just. Like you said, they're hard to watch. These people have dedicated their lives. Like, they're talented. Like, they have something going for them. Like, they're driven, they're motivated. Like, these are the people that I want to be watching them with you.
A
Let's normalize making talented people famous and not just, like, people who are desperate for fame. Famous.
C
Totally.
A
Sorry.
C
Totally. I'm with you.
A
So anyway, can't recommend enough episodes coming on Tuesday nights. I. It's something I really look forward to.
B
Okay,
A
what else do you want to cover before. Let's see. Oh, I'm getting a Kia Carnival press card this week. Or not. Carnival. Kia Telluride press card this week. Very exciting. I'm going to Kentucky to see my expedition roll off the line.
C
That's exciting. That's huge.
A
No. No idea what to expect.
C
I wish I could go.
A
I know.
C
I kind of. Like, I have missed every travel opportunity outside of the womenly change. Like, every time I'm supposed to travel with you, like, it has gotten canceled, and now it doesn't feel like I'm gonna travel until Craig and Charlotte's wedding.
A
I don't have so many fun trips coming up. I don't even want to tell you about them because I want you to be sad, but they're, like, really fun. Like, Volkswagen Atlas Drive. I'm going back to Sam's house to go to the car seat conference. Oh, BMW X5. Shall we traverse?
C
Like, are you going to the BMW X5 first drive?
A
I might. It looks pretty fun.
C
You're just like so up for anything these days.
A
I'm so up for anything.
C
I do not understand.
A
Well, you will when you're two years postpartum.
C
I know, but I know it's just
A
not your summer for that.
C
No, it's not. And it's fine because I am really excited to just kind of like like hide away with like a baby in my room and like for that to just be acceptable.
A
I know. I can't wait to come over, snuggle a baby and most importantly, serve you. And for you to tell me how much I served you.
C
Yeah, I will be sure to. Thank you. So you continue to do it.
A
I have some ideas of like, of, of what I want like our late August, early September to look like. Like I'm gonna try to take like a day off a week. Because I want to be there for you in the evenings a little bit. Because I think you're gonna need me.
C
Okay.
A
During like a witching hour. And I'm a witching hour expert.
C
Actually there is that in between of like I like my child care has, is no longer in Maddie's like still at work that I'm a little bit nervous for.
A
That's where I'm going to swoop in. I'm going to swoop in and I've been going through like areas of your house that I want to like reorganize and do for you that you're not thinking about. And this is something my mother in law does an amazing job at. I'm always talking about this. The woman will come over and find the most random chore to do for me, like chores I didn't even know existed. Like one time I came back, she was watching my kids. I came back, she had deep cleaned all of their Crocs. Yeah, it's like little things like that, like that you're never gonna get around to that are so low priority. But that would. Then when I like woke up the next morning, like put my kids in the car and I'm like, oh my gosh, all your Crocs are sparkling clean. Like it brought me a second of peace.
C
Yeah, totally.
A
I'm gonna chase, I'm gonna find you so many little pockets of peace around your home, you're not even able to do it yourself.
C
Pockets of peace. That's really cute.
A
I didn't make that up. That Nobela girl made that up.
C
Who?
A
Nobela. I don't Know who no Bella is?
C
No.
A
You would know her content if you saw it.
C
I wanted to ask you, your birthday is coming up. What do you like? What's on your birthday list?
A
Oh, yeah, my birthday.
B
Okay.
A
I'm really happy you asked, actually, because
C
I actually need some ideas.
A
Yeah, my birthday's coming up. It's August 16th. So for my birthday, I want to do a fish fry at my house. I have not done a fish fry yet. As you guys remember, I was kind of micro hopping fish fries so hard last summer, and I just haven't had. I just haven't had a fish fry opportunity. And I want. I want to keep my craft sharp. And if I don't, you know, sharpen the pencil, I'll forget how to do it. So we're doing a fish fry for my birthday. Small. Like mom and dad in my family. And, like, you. If you. If you're up for it. If you're not up for it, that's totally fine. So I want to do a fish fry. I. For my birthday. I am. I would like things for hosting.
B
Mm.
C
But what do you need?
A
Yeah, so here's what I need. I need a really fabulous ice bucket.
C
Okay.
A
Not. No, I don't need. I want one with, like, a lid and, like, a little shovel that people could, like, get their ice out of, but I want, like, a fun printed one.
B
Yeah, okay.
A
Like, I want a, like, something that matches, like, obviously blue. Like, blue, or, like, maybe green. But, like, I would love a really amazing ice bucket to, like when I'm setting up my bar, because I told you I'm kind of into, like, setting up bars. I had this, like, galvanized steel one, and it's that I registered for when I got married. And it's not that I don't like it. It's just not really my vibe right now. And I think that's an area of my life I could have a lot of fun with. So a pop.
C
You can always have a pop in the ice bucket.
A
I want to pop in the ice bucket. I could use, like. I could use, like, a nice tray for, like, bringing food. Like, something cute, colorful.
B
Mm.
A
I want, like, colorful hosting decor.
C
Colorful hosting. Okay, done. Thank you.
A
In my vibe I got was, like, a candle. Nigel can never have enough candles again. Only in my vibes. Only in my color scheme. For Tyler. I want to get a fountain for our pond. So I asked for that because we had something really tragic happen to our pond. We had our pond. It's called turning over. I don't totally know the science behind it. But I guess, like, when the cold water comes to the top, this, like, happens to ponds every couple of years. And, like, the cold water came to the top and the hot water came to the bottom, and it killed, like, 50 of the fish in our pond. And we have a lot of, like, algae and overgrowth right now on our pond. Ponds are like, the pond is like, a higher maintenance in the pool at the moment. Like, the pond always has things, you know, like, it's always having things going wrong with it. So I think a fountain tolerance. Thinks a fountain would keep the water moving more.
C
Sure.
A
And they're not. They're really not that expensive. I mean, they're kind of like, all over the place in terms of price. But.
C
So do you, like, pick out, like, what kind of sprout you want, like, or you just, like, you don't care? I've never shot for, like, a pond fountain before.
A
No, I don't think most people will ever shop for a pond fountain. But I'm kind of.
C
It's one of those things, like, I'm just kind of curious about because it kind of sounds exciting, actually.
A
Yeah, I know. It does sound exciting. Yeah. I mean, I think I'd have an opinion.
C
Yeah, I know for sure.
A
I think I'd have an opinion or two.
C
I feel like I really set, like, such a vibe. Like, you pull into your driveway and you see, like, a fountain.
B
Yeah.
C
Okay.
A
These fountains are really expensive, but these are, like, for lakes, so I don't know, like.
C
So you need to, like, find one. Your pond's not that big.
A
My pond's. No, my pond's very small, actually. So it can't be. I think the most important thing is an appropriate size fountain for the pond.
B
Sure.
A
Because, like, how embarrassing. Like, you know what they say about if you have a big fountain in a small pond, like, you know, they
C
say about you, you're overcompensating for something.
A
I don't know. I. I love my pond. It looked it this summer, though. It's like, is that a pond down there? Because the whole thing's just green.
C
It is. It's. It's a. It's a little green.
A
And now all the fish have died. And unfortunately, George keeps trying to go and grab them because he wants. He is. We have finally had to set a hard and fast rule with him. It's like, you can't pick up dead things anymore. He was kind of being out of control. And just mind you, again with my ice cream socials. My pond turned over. My Entire yard smells like dead fish
C
now, and it's gonna be 100% now. That is tough for the ice cream social. I'm not sure how you come back from that one.
A
That's in the con column for the ice cream social. Yeah. Here we go. Best pond fountains on Amazon.
C
Okay, so you pick that out.
A
Yeah.
C
So it's kind of an unrelatable birthday list. I was hoping you're being like, give other people some inspo. But.
A
Ice bucket.
C
Ice bucket and pond fountain.
A
Well. And you know What?
C
This is 33.
A
You know what? I'm considering asking mom and dad for What? Which, like, no one buys me. I mean, the only present I get for my birthday. Tyler. Well, Tyler and I don't really do presents. We do, like, a shared present together or, like, whatever. It's just an excuse to get something that maybe you wanted. You give me a present, mom and dad give me a present. That's it. I'm thinking about asking for the Mason Pierce hairbrush for mom and dad.
C
It's like a 200 hairbrush.
A
I know. It's like, I would literally, I would never. Because I'm like a wet brush girl, and I'm so cheap. I won't even buy my wet brushes from Target. I'll only buy them from TJ Maxx because they're only 3.99 at TJ Maxx versus 8.99 at Target. But I am addicted to brushing my hair.
C
I brush my hair and Grace and did great. Has Grayson said. Grayson got one for Christmas, which.
A
Amazing.
C
Okay. I wonder if it is amazing or if you're just trying to say that because it was 200. You know, I don't know, but I. I'm sure it's good.
A
We'll see. I don't know yet, but that's mainly what I want for my birthday, is have a fish fry with my loved ones.
C
Okay. Wouldn't hurt if your hair looked fabulous while we were doing it, though.
A
And we need. We need an ice bucket.
C
So I need an ice bucket. And honestly, like, a fountain would kind of send the ambiance. All right, I get it. I get it. I'm signed up for all of it.
B
Okay.
C
Ice bucket it is.
A
Okay, well, let's get into our interview. Yes. You guys, thank you for listening to the podcast. Listen, we will maybe see you next week. We maybe won't. It's kind of just a luck of the draw at this point.
C
We'll see. All right, we'll be back.
A
Hold on really quick. We'll be back to Two episodes a week starting in September. Just everyone knows.
C
Yeah, it might just be like Kelly and maybe I'll pop on every now and then. Kelly look like a guest.
A
Oh, I have my guests. I have guests lined up deep.
C
Okay, good.
A
Like I'm actually, I'm to the point where I'm turning people away.
B
Okay.
A
Because everyone wants to join the podcast. I'm sure.
C
All right guys, let's get into our interview.

With the World cup happening this month, I keep coming back to one thing. Every professional athlete out there has a whole team tracking everything regarding their health, biomarkers, recovery, sleep, etc but you don't have to play for a national team to deserve that kind of care. I've realized that the reason they're tracking these things is because it's their livelihood, it's their job. But if you think about it, it's just as important for me to be tracking these things to know what's going on with my body, to know what's going on with my health. Because I have the most important job of all and that is raising children. And my children need me around and I need to know what is going on with my body. So that's why I use function. I get 160 plus lab tests a year. The kind of full body picture pro athletes pay a fortune for. Not guessing, just knowing where you stand so you can show up as your best. I found my function test to be very helpful. It was a really good baseline to know where I'm at. And now, now that I've my first test done, every subsequent test I can see if I have made improvements or if things are falling out of whack

and, and, and all those types of things.

A
Vanessa Wilkin, welcome to the carpool podcast.
D
Thank you for having me. Kelly and Liz, Happy to be here.
A
So fun. So Vanessa, you work at Enterprise who kind of showed up in a major way at the auto show this year.
D
Yes.
A
I think that was your guys's second year sponsoring. But this activation was really fun. It was kind of like soccer related.
D
Exactly. We totally leaned into the soccer theme this summer and we had all the kids playing and if they actually got a goal, then we gave them a little Enterprise squishy ball. So it was a great time. We had such a fun time at the auto show.
A
Was it like kind of World cup inspired? Is that why you guys did like the soccer theme?
D
It is. It was 100% World cup inspired.
A
I found myself like really into the. I'm such a fair weather fan. Like it once. I literally don't give a rip about soccer, but like the World cup comes around and suddenly I'm, I'm obsessed. Like I'm about to buy a jersey.
D
I was the same way and I feel like our whole team was. We even brought in like a TV and we were watching it. We had people cheering for us. France. I'm from Canada. Like, so we are all in all countries.
A
Yeah. And did you guys watch the, the halftime show for the final game?
D
I didn't. I was in a meeting.
A
That's okay. That's okay. I didn't watch it either, but I've watched it since it was star studded. They had Madonna, oh, Shakira, Justin Bieber and one more person I'm forgetting. It was really cool though. It's, it's, it's worth, it's worth a lookup. It was like, it was, it was like rivaling like a Super bowl halft
C
show and I had sounds like it.
A
I feel like no one was talking about it.
C
I didn't know that they did a big halftime show.
A
Me neither. Anyway, here nor there. But anyway, Vanessa, we wanted to bring you on today because I've been partnering with Enterprise for years. Yeah. And we love obviously so many of the services that Enterprise provides to families in terms of like renting a car and keeping families safe. Tell us a little about your position at Enterprise Mobility. Is that what I said?
D
Yes, Enterprise Mobility works. Yeah, Enterprise Mobility. Enterprise rental car. So my position is I work on the insurance side of the business, but really the replacement and leisure division. And when we think about replacement and leisure, what we really mean is replacement is when you have an unexpected event, you know, your vehicle's going in for repair or maintenance or maybe even a recall that we are here to help you get back on the road. And the leisure side is more the planned side of the business. Right. You're going on that family vacation, you're doing a road trip. Then we would do the leisure side of it. So really that's what I focus on our team here in St. Louis and supporting our partners globally.
C
Yeah. That's the other thing that we love about Enterprise is that they are St. Louis.
A
I know it's based in synergy. We love it.
C
Such synergy.
A
Yeah. So I think I, I like what you said about let's kind of specifically go to. Because I totally get the leisure and like I always say, like families who, especially families who have smaller cars. The beauty of like renting a car for the road trip can sometimes be like such the easier and more cost effective way to do it. Like if you think you need a big three row SUV because you go on a road trip one time a year, instead of buying a car that big to use one time a year, rent the car and you will definitely come out ahead financially and just like so much easier and fun to like take someone else's car on a road trip.
D
Oh, 100%.
A
But I think what families don't always forecast is that more like the replacement or like the temporary use of a vehicle. So can you tell us some of the reasons you guys, mostly people need to, I guess, temporarily replace or temporarily rent a car?
D
Yeah, so that's really the replacement side. And you think about it, you get into an accident, which is the most common thing is rental reimbursement coverage. So when you're looking at your insurance policy. Right. A lot of us are insuring our vehicle and we're thinking, oh, am I going to have the insurance if I have an accident, is my vehicle going to be replaced? Yes. But it's really taking it a step further is if your vehicle gets into an accident, are you going to have a replacement vehicle at that time? Right. So I think about it, we actually had an accident two years ago and thankfully we actually had rental reimbursement on our policy because I don't know how I would have got the kids to and from daycare, gone to work, done the groceries, all that stuff that you forget. How do you get your life back on track? So really, rental reimbursement is key. And not even just rental reimbursement, it's do you have the right coverage? Right. So if you're a family, I know you guys often talk about like the car seats and size of vehicle. Maybe you are, you know, double stroller or triple strollers, whatever it may be, do you have a replacement vehicle that is going to actually mirror what your personal vehicle is? And I think that's a really key point is not only having the coverage, but having the right coverage so that you're not paying anything out of pocket that you're fully covered. Because we know like the average. My vehicle was in the repair shop for 17, 19 days. The US industry is about 16 days. So can you imagine if I took your vehicle for 16 days? It would be a long time.
A
Yeah.
C
No, it's such odds that you like, you probably don't have enough like rental reimbursement. Like if you have enough coverage, you might only have enough for like a sedan while you have four kids. Like that's not gonna work.
D
Yeah, that would be a logistic nightmare. Especially if you have most of them in car seats.
A
Yeah, no, it's such like a layered issue. And when you have kids, especially if you're a large family, like I, I just couldn't like call my mom up and like ask to borrow her car. Like it's so much more layered when it's, when it's not just you getting to and from work, but it's, I feel like, especially in the summertime.
D
Yeah.
A
Oh my gosh. Like it is like if it was, you know, I think it's always important, but like during the school year, like, sure, like I can maybe have, find some help with pickup and drop offs from, from my friends. But during the summer we have the craziest schedule. We have camps, we have, I swear we have something every evening that we have to get to. And we're also just, we are living out of our car. It's our home base. Like my trunk is loaded down with swimsuits, extra shoes, changes of clothes, lawn chairs, coolers. I, if, literally, if they, if, if a repair shop looked at me and said it'll be 17 days and I didn't have a car lined up, I would, I would go into a full head panic attack. Yeah, yeah.
D
Imagine sharing with your spouse.
A
No, he would hate that. It would be really hard on my marriage. My husband can't even stand to like keep car seats in his car. He's so crazy. He, he takes kids probably in his car probably at least every other day just like for it doesn't take all of them because he only has a truck, so he couldn't even fit all of them. He will, he installs and he uninstalls and installs car seats every single day because he can't, he's so crazy because he can't have it stayed in his car. So no, he would hate to have car seats permanently installed for any. Exactly. That would, that would not be good for him. And I think I've. So I've shared about, you know, this rental reimbursement coverage on my Instagram several times. I've done a couple of like educational posts about it and it blows my mind how many real world examples that we have of like my followers who have utilized this coverage or sadly had, did not have this type of coverage. And it's just one of those things where it's so hard as a parent to prepare for the unexpected. And this is just one of those things you can do this early, you can check that box and then the peace of mind you can have knowing that if your car gets into an accident, if it has to go to the shop, you don't have to pay for a rental car out of pocket. Like such piece, such peace of mind. And tell us, I know it's going to vary by insurance carrier, but tell us like can you give us some sort of estimate of how expensive this added coverage would be?
D
It really does depend on the insurance carrier and as I mentioned, is what size coverage you're going to get. So I think that's really a discussion that you have with your insurance agent or your insurance company to figure out what you know, the market you're in, what size vehicle you want and how that could do can vary, but it's really not expensive at this point. You know, making sure that you have the right coverage is really the key there.
A
Definitely cheaper than renting a car, I would imagine.
C
Yeah, renting a car for 16 days, how much is that like, exactly.
D
And even if you didn't, like, we know Today, of policyholders that have it, 41% have coverage. So if you do the math, there's a large percent that don't have coverage. But don't worry, like if you do get into an accident and you know, July is an extremely busy month. Right. People are celebrating the holiday, they're going away to the lake, they're going on family road trips and vacations and it's okay. Talk to your insurance company if you were to have an accident this time. A lot of times that, that discounted rate can be extended to you during a claim. So it's, you know, being proactive is great, but also if something happens, know that your insurance company and we're here to help you get through that and make sure that you get back on the road in a timely manner.
A
Yeah, that's a great reminder. Okay, so before we let you go, I feel like after. So key takeaways, let's, let's review our key takeaways. So number one. Yeah, because this, this is a two part discussion. One, it's calling your, I think the takeaway is call your insurance company and see if you have rental reimbursement. But don't just stop there. Find out how much coverage you have. And when we're talking about coverage, it would mean you would ask them like, hey, does this coverage cover a three row suv? Like what is, can you give us like the word track that people would use to their insurance agents?
D
Yeah, that's a great question. It's really asking them is telling them, hey, I have two kids, I travel a lot with animals or car seats. I really do require a large suv and I would want to make sure that if something were to happen, I have the same coverage. Or a pickup truck or a small car. Really, it depends what you need. So that is definitely key. And then also making sure that all your vehicles in your house are also covered.
A
Right.
D
So that if something else happens that you're, you know, covering just one vehicle sure isn't enough. Because if the other vehicle gets in, you want to make sure that everybody has a replacement vehicle at that point.
A
Yeah. Cause no, like if I didn't have a three row suv, like I might as well not even have it because what's a, what's, what's a two row SUV gonna do for me and my family of six? Nothing. So I think.
D
Exactly.
A
Okay, so that, that's a good one.
C
Yeah. I don't drive a minivan for the aesthetics, you know, and I don't drive
A
a Ford Expedition for the gas mileage
D
So I, I'm with you, Kelly. I definitely not for the gas mileage. I think the one thing, it's funny, I was listening to your podcast a while ago and one of the things that resonate is we're having this internal bait, right. Is expedition or expedition max. And I'm all in for the max. And it's because the couple times a year that I need that bigger vehicle. And you brought up a really good point on one of it. It's actually pivoted. My mind is when you're buying a car is buy for what you need every day. And the one off times that you're doing the road trip is you have other options. That's where you can rent the car, that you can get the minivan, the large suv. So that really resonated with me too is, you know, is making sure that yes, you have rental reimbursement coverage, but that you also have other options for those one off times a year that you need an additional larger vehicle, third row trunk space, whatever it may be.
C
It's also a good time too if you're like, kind of like, do I want a minivan? Like do I want a full size suv? I don't know if I'm ready to commit. It's kind of a good time to just like do a long term sort of test drive by like renting that car and then putting your family in it and traveling with your family in it. You can get a really good idea as, as if it's something that you would actually, you could actually live with your family in. Because a test drive, just a test drive down the road versus actually putting your family in there. You noticed things in such a different, different way.
D
It's so true. And the summer's the perfect time for that, right? Where you're really running around, you have all kids out of school, you probably have extra stuff. Right. Like Kelly mentioned you by the time you get all the summer gear, then the coolers, it's perfect time to really challenge what that looks like.
A
Yeah, I've also, I was doing a consultation recently and this family was really interested in leasing. Like they just felt like that was going to work for their lifestyle. Well, they were just starting to grow their family so they didn't know how big they were, wanted to be. So they liked the idea of buying a short term car, but they were worried about leasing because like they do a road trip once a year. And I was like, we'll just rent a car for the road trip. Like if you don't want to put your mileage on your lease. You'll probably lease payments are cheaper than finance payments. They wanted to get a new car in three years. I'm like, you'll come out ahead if you just lease the car and rent something for the road trip. So there's, I think there's just. There's so many, so many reasons why a family might want to rent a car, whether it's because they need it or because they want to go on a trip. So I'm so glad that you could come on and just tell us a bit more about the important coverage to have, because I think that's not something I know that I hadn't thought or even really heard about it until I started working with Enterprise. So, Vanessa, before you go, after just like a long day of educating the public on rental reimbursement coverage, you've still got kids at home. You got to make your family a meal. What are you making?
D
Great question. I'm going to lean on last night. I have a 2 and 4 year old, so we were knee deep in water activities yesterday, and we were pressed for time, and so we did that. My kids love hamburgers, but I took a spin on it. We had pizza dough in the fridge, took some piece of pizza dough, fried up some ground beef, cut up some cheese, and we made like, little wraps and put it in the oven for 12 minutes. And my kids love to dunk. So I was like, what do you want? Who wants mustard? Who wants ketchup? Who wants. What sauce do you want? And it makes these, like, little pockets that they just dip. And both my kids ate their entire meal, threw some corn on the cob, a little broccoli, some fruit. We are good to go last night in under 20 minutes.
C
Okay, so walk me through how you're wrapping it. How big are we? How big are we talking?
A
It's like a hamburger pizza pocket.
D
It's exactly. Yes.
B
Hamburger pizza pocket.
A
It's a hamburger. It is pocket. I feel you can make it as big or as little as you wanted.
D
Exactly. I did. I aired on the bigger side because I was trying to make sure that they had a full meal, but you could definitely do more appetizer side. So I had, like, a decent size.
A
Like, what did you pick in the pocket? Like, did you put sauce or you just put the ground beef and the cheese? And then I just did the.
D
And then they dipped it. Yes. But for my husband and I, then I added what I would normally put on a burger. So I wrapped ours slightly different. Where I had, like, pickle. He wanted some jalapeno in his, so I wrapped his differently. And then you just brush it with butter. Make sure you mark which ones are the adult ones. That was Kiki, and they ate it. Both kids demolished it in, like, 10 minutes.
A
Was this homemade pizza dough or was this, like, a Pillsbury situation?
D
No, this was a Pillsbury situation. We love.
A
It was all about time.
D
Yeah. What do I have in my oven?
C
I love a new way to use ground beef. Like, always looking for ways to utilize ground beef.
A
Totally love that.
D
We've done it before, too, with taco seasoning. So you can kind of do a play instead of a hamburger, like a cheesy hamburger. You could also do, like, a taco. Right. Where you wrap it all up and you put all the taco fixings in it as well.
C
This sounds delicious.
A
All right, Vanessa. That I'm going to be adding to my rotation, because that sounds good. And I. I honestly actually have some Pillsbury in my fridge, and I know I have problems in my freezer, so that's that. I love a meal that's, like, things you probably already have, like, very shelf stable or freezer staple, I guess. All right, Vanessa, well, thank you so much for joining the carpool podcast.
D
Thank you, guys. It was a pleasure.
