Welcome to the Carpool Podcast with Kelly.
B
I, like, saw a pregnant girl, like, a young, like, probably 25, like, a young pregnant girl. And I had, like, such jealousy towards her because I'm like, I used to be the cute pregnant girl. Cute, young pregnant girl.
A
And Liz. But to me, watching football is like watching pink dry. Like, I can't believe when it gets exciting, like, when they're about to score a touchdown, like, then it's exciting. Your mom. Time off starts now.
B
Welcome back to the Carpool Podcast with Kelly and Liz. And we're back.
A
We're back. Wow, we really screwed up on scheduling.
B
I know. Who just, like, head in the sky. You know what I mean?
A
I know.
B
Head in the sky. Living it up on Labor Day. Totally forgot that it was going to mess up our recording schedule. But that's okay because now we're back with two episodes, which is going to be so much more fun to just, like, get back into the swing, get back into the segments. And I just couldn't be more excited to be back in, like, a full capacity.
A
Me too. Me too. I've missed it.
B
Yeah. Same. The podcast brings us such joy. You have no idea. And summer's coming to an end. Summer has come to an end.
A
Summer has come to an end.
B
I'm with.
A
Ready.
B
Yeah. No, no, no. I'm totally ready. I like, though, living it up until Labor Day and then after. Now I'm ready to be in September. And one of the reasons I am so excited for September is because I'm a football fan now. Because it's, like, a little too early to be, like, so pumpkiny. Yeah, but it's. I mean, the Lions have their first game on Sunday, their first non preseason game. So, like. No, I know. Like, look at me in all my buzzwords. So, like, it's so fun that, like, September I have football, and then, of course, you continue to have football, but, like, then you have other things going on in October. But September I have football, and I. I plan on living it up in football.
A
Yeah, no, I've already told my whole.
B
Family, like, we're all Lions fans. I got. I just. I bought a sweatshirt off Etsy that says Detroit Lions. Super cute. Like, I'm just so ready to commit to the bit.
A
Okay, well, I'm excited for you. Do you like watching football? Like, do you know the rules?
B
Do I like watching football? You know, there's something. It's. No. No short answer. No long answer is it's, like, good to be bored. You know, it's like low stimulation. It's like when I turn on, like a 90s cartoon for my kids. Like, that's what football does to me. Like, no, it's not very entertaining in my opinion. But it's good to just slow down. You know what else I like? I like watching TV commercials. It's almost because what's new, you know?
A
Yeah, what's new?
B
What's new? What are people talking about?
A
Insurance companies posting about, like, who's the hottest person at Progressive.
B
Like, well, and we were just watching the football game at the lake. Cause Maddie was watching the Notre Dame game and I didn't know Gabby's Dollhouse, the movie was coming out. Like, how has that not come across my desk? Because I'm not watching TV commercials, I guess. I don't. I don't know. So I'm looking forward to just, you know, and I want to. I want to see what's on with dance. I want to see the Dancing with the Stars commercials. Like, I just, I want to be a part of it.
A
Well, I'm excited. I think this is going to be my first season that I sit down and watch Dancing with the Stars. I never done it before because actually I want to look up the whole cast. But I do know a couple people that I'm excited. Yeah.
B
Well. And it's fun to have a watch with your kids. I think it's fun. We're going to sit down, kids. It's going to be Dancing with the Stars again. It's low. It's low stimulation for them.
A
So we've got two Mormon wives. Jen Affleck, who. I'm not. Really. I'm not. I. I never watched the last season, but, like, I'm not a big fan of Jen. I didn't like her on the first season. And then Whitney, who also was like the villain of the. But I kind of like Whitney.
B
That's not. That's not that hot of a take. I think a lot of people kind of like Whitney.
A
Yeah, she's just kind of unapologetic. Okay. Robert Irwin, obviously.
B
And my crush, Robert Irwin. My crush Robert Irwin is on Dancing with the Stars.
A
Alex Earl.
B
Oh. Oh, that's gonna be interesting for her.
A
Dylan Efron, who is Zac Efron's little brother. Never heard of Dylan.
B
Nepotism.
A
And Hilaria Baldwin.
B
Controversial.
A
Alec Baldwin's wife. I also don't know who that is. So I'll be there. I'll be watching.
B
No, I. We watched it last year and I really enjoyed it. So. Anyway, also wanted to say George is playing Football. George is playing flag football. So we're also just like, we're such a football family in September. And I'm just really, like, leaning into it.
A
Some might call. Is this like a micro hobby for you?
B
Oh, my gosh. This is. This is totally. Football is. Because I will get fatigue. I plan on watching in September and then moving on with my life and then picking back up if the Lions are in the Super Bowl.
A
Yeah.
B
Or in the playoffs.
A
Yeah.
B
But, yeah, I would say for September, I'm micro hobbing on football. I have. I. I cleaned out my recipe binder yesterday, and I found a recipe that Aunt Lizzie brought me when I was postpartum with Hattie or Libby. Those roast beef sliders.
A
So good.
B
I'm making roast beef sliders on Sunday. We're watching the Lions. George has a football game on Sunday. We're going to home. Home have roast beef sliders. And then we're turning on the Lions game. And that is my Sunday.
A
That sounds actually really relaxing. And nostalgia.
B
I know.
A
For some reason.
B
And I'm gonna wear my lion sweatshirt and we're just gonna, like, make it.
A
Okay.
B
It's. It's good to have. I need to figure out my streaming, though. What do I watch? A football game?
A
Call Maddie. I don't know. Like, football season rolls around. We've got three new subscriptions because we gotta watch college. You gotta watch the NFL. You got to watch professionals. Like, not all the teams are on the same ones. It's ridiculous. You got to call Maddie. He'll fill you in. Maddie is a huge Notre Dame fan, and I think I need to lean into what you're doing a little bit more and just, like, lean into it, because I can't avoid it. It's going to happen. But to me, watching football is like watching paint dry. Like, I can't believe when it gets exciting. Like, when they're by the score. Touchdown. Like, then it's exciting. But cut. It stops all the time.
B
Like, well, it's my least. It's honestly probably my least favorite sport to watch because I'll sit there. Our parents love to watch golf. So, like, whenever we're over at their house on the weekends, like, the golf is on. Golf is. It's borderline asmr. Therapeutic to me. Like, I love watching golf. Hockey's fun. Baseball's a bit of a snooze, but at least I know what's going on in baseball. Yeah, I have no idea what's going.
A
On in football, but games are so long. It's just not for me. But you're right. I need to buck up. I need to. I need to lean into what's fun about it, which is the.
B
The.
A
The swag and cute.
B
I know the cute stuff.
A
Swag and the food and, like, having a meal surrounding it. Like, one time I got chicken wings for a Notre Dame game, and then they won, and then Maddie said I have to go get those same chicken wings every single time that they play.
B
Because I see the men. Yeah.
A
And so then it's fun. And I'm like, oh, I got to get the chicken wings. And it's fun.
B
Yeah. See, Tyler doesn't watch football in any capacity. But we're all just gonna micro hobby this. I'm just. I'm turning it on, and I'm gonna use it as. I'm gonna put my phone away. I'm gonna slow down, turn my brain off, and maybe learn a thing or two about football. I'm very excited. So that's September.
A
Okay.
B
Can't wait. That's September. But let's go back a couple of months. Okay. Because I have. I'm kind of taking mom's advice of, like, when you, you know, make notes after, like, a big holiday or a big party. I'm doing it seasonally because I find that I just want to remember, like, what I enjoyed doing, what I didn't enjoy doing, what I should do more of, like, next summer. So I have my summer notes written down. I wanted to review them with the class.
A
Let's hear.
B
Okay. Number one note that I wrote down is my. So I. I need to buy. And here's. I did not do it this year, and I regret it. I need to buy cute America clothes and America jammies. Because the thing is, it's. It's a bang for your buck because it covers three holidays. And really, I feel like you can wear patriotic. I mean, you can wear it year round, but, like, you can wear it all summer.
A
Yeah. Year round, but you can for sure.
B
Hit the Memorial fourth in Labor Day in your patriotic outfits. And, like, I wish I would have had cute American flag jammies for my kids to wear, especially because Kate was just talking about how, like, her. Her son doesn't wear pajamas anymore. Sick to my stomach, nauseous. The fact, like, George won't wear pajamas. Like, he'll just want to wear, like, a T shirt. Disgusting. Disgusting. I just. And, like. And it's. But it's okay because, like, one day he's gonna be a man and he's gonna give me the egg in his pajamas. So Like, I need to just capitalize on it when he's.
A
Yeah.
B
When he's not icky in pajamas. So I should have 100 bought my kids matching. Even more so important, like, I think Christmas and patriotic is all you need a Halloween jammy. It's one night a year. I'm not. And I know you can wear them again. I know you can wear them again. But just doesn't like give me the same, like, like I love the Christmas time and I love the summertime and I want matching jam. You're not much of a.
A
You're not much of a person. I think some people like Halloween is their jam. It's their micro hobby. But I, I agree, like, even Thanksgiving, like, and hear me say I got both Halloween and Thanksgiving jammies for my kids this year. But I, I agree we should be focusing more on the patriotic.
B
So that, so that that's my biggest takeaway. I will have killer. But I also want to have, I also want to have like a solid patriotic outfit because like we go to a parade. Like, we do things and we do things when it's like if my kids are going to be in a coordinating casual, make it American, Red, white, blue.
A
Is timeless and it looks so good together.
B
For sure. I need to prioritize kids camps more.
A
Okay.
B
So one, I just think like, you know, as our schedule kind of like changes as my kids like aren't in school and then they're home with me more, I need to. Even if it's not, even if it's not like an all day camp. Like my kids really enjoyed. Like they each did like a two to three hour camp for like three days and it was enough to break things up and they enjoyed it. It got us out of the house. It just got. It gave us a little hus and bus. And Hattie went to a cheerleader camp. It was two days for two hours. We're talking four hours total. And she is wearing the T shirts, she's singing the cheers. All she's talked about is her cheerleader camp. And it was honestly, it was lame. I went to it. I was like, I can't believe the campus all these people are doing. Yeah, it was just, they just like didn't leave this gym for two days for four hours. But whatever. She loved it. So I'm going to prioritize camps. I also wrote down this is something very specific to me, but Tyler and his dad do hay every year and it's like a lot of work for them. And I always took that as like don't bring the kids anywhere near me because it's like, a lot of work for me. But he told me that he wants, he wishes I would have, like, made it a bigger deal and, like, came down, like, brought them lunch in the hay fields and like this. So I. I did pick that up the second half of the hay season. I did get around to that. But I just made a note to myself, like, when Tyler starts talking about hay, I need to mentally plan. Okay, we're gonna go down there, we're gonna bring a snackle box, we're gonna bring dad a lemonade. I'm gonna hype it up. I'm just gonna, like, be the hay cheerleader.
A
Okay. I love it.
B
You know? Yeah, I definitely do a garden next year in some capacity. Herb or vegetable, whatever. I don't know where my head's gonna be. I don't know what kind of hobby I'm gonna want to take on. But to not even attempt this year was a mistake on my part. Like, I didn't even get anything and let it die, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
Like, I need to just. I need to do something.
A
Okay, I agree.
B
It's. It's good. It's good for you. Obviously I said, fish fries are fun summer meals, like, do more of those. Just I can't have enough of that. One thing we did this summer that worked really well is the kids had to do 20 minutes of chores to earn 20 minutes of TV time.
A
Love it.
B
And the first couple of times we did it, like, it was a little of a fight, but then it was like George would wake up and he goes, can I do my chores? Because, like, he just wanted to earn his TV time, so. Loved that.
A
Love it.
B
This. I did this in the later half of the summer, but it worked well. I said, bring a picnic blanket up to the garage so you're just ready to go for, for the park or for the picnic or to eat outside. Like, it's just kind of like reworking the garage with, like, what are things that I want to be grabbing for frequently. Like, we set that big picnic table up in our garage and had breakfast out there a lot in the summer, which was nice. But even just like having a picnic blanket in the garage ready to go would be nice. I said, get each kid name brand crocs. They look and hold up better. I tried to do an off brand croc for some of my kids. I'm sorry. And I'm not, I'm not one normally be a brand snob. But like, half my kids had real Crocs. No, George and Fred had real crocs. Hattie had fake crocs, and, like, it was a stark difference.
A
Wow, that's a really hot take.
B
Not as I found them. Not as comfortable. They shouldn't look as good. Like, they were way too big on her, but, like, they were, like, big. Whatever. I just want everyone to have crocs. And I'm gonna be, you know it, because also a croc. Like, I'll pass. So, like, I'll pass down George's crocs to Fred. I'm throwing Hattie's frocks away. Right. Like, you know what I mean?
A
Right.
B
It's like, I'm just not. I have two and two. There's. I just need to buy the thing that's gonna last for the next kid, and I'll come out ahead.
A
Yeah.
B
That was a big note. Peach cobbler with in season peaches. So good we'll be making again. I said I want to make sure I decorate the fence and the gate for Memorial Day and the fourth.
A
Well, and that just goes back to it. Like, you do it on Memorial Day and you just leave it up until the 4th.
B
Yeah. The other notes I wrote were, like, way too, like, specific. Like, don't go to this. Go to this.
A
Oh, okay.
B
Don't take. So, like, I won't get into much of the minutiae, but those are some of my hot notes for the year.
A
I love it.
B
Thanks.
A
I love it. I don't have many notes. We have been just not living at our house, so I feel like I have been in survival mode for the. Since June, just trying to make it through. Like, I have not thought about anything fun, anything unique.
B
All.
A
All that is consuming me is renovating my house. So I'm excited to see what kind of person I'm gonna be when I move back in and get things a little bit more organized.
B
Well. And hopefully you can have fun with fall.
A
Hopefully I can have fun with fall.
B
Another thing that I'm, like, doing. I'm trying to make things special because also, I'm trying to, I think, probably bury the feelings that I'm not gonna have another baby again. So I'm trying to be like, okay, I'm not babies. Like, I don't get to make that my personality. So let's make the things I have with my kids really fun. So I'm very into banners right now. I've actually, like, ordered, like, four banners.
A
Where are you ordering banners from?
B
Literally everywhere.
A
Okay.
B
I haven't even told you this, so.
A
I just don't know where you have the time in the day to like order banners and make like a mile long list. Just like make the like plan these memories and like make roast beef sliders. Like, I just don't know how you're getting this all done.
B
So anyway, I've been on my banner grind because I just think I have a really good spot for a banner, like above my kitchen window.
A
Yeah.
B
Just think it really like signifies like, what. What's going on? So the first thing I wanted to buy was and happy. A happy birthday banner. But I just wanted like the same banner every single time. And it's like I want my kids to then fight over it one day.
A
Yeah.
B
So I went to Etsy and I wanted one. I didn't want like a paper one because, like, I feel like I could like make a paper one. So I ended up finding this. It was $70, which I know, but honestly, someone else could probably make this. But like, I just don't have the skill set. It's like just like a quilt that says Happy Birthday.
A
Are you showing me a picture?
B
Yeah.
A
Oh, okay. Yeah. That's cute.
B
It's so cute, right?
A
Yeah.
B
So it's just like, it's homemade fabric and I gotta pick the fabric. Like the girl sent me some options and it says Happy Birthday.
A
Yeah, it's. It's cute. And I saw this reel and it was birthday party. Except the theme. Theme is Happy birthday. And it's not like a theme where it's like spider man or dinosaurs and everything. It's just like colorful and bright and fun. And the theme is Happy Birthday.
B
I love that. So, yeah, the theme is that birthday.
A
Speaking of birthdays, it's Libby's birthday today.
B
Well, you didn't let me finish. My. My banners. I have other banners that I've bought. Do you want me to table that.
A
Or do you want to keep it? Let's see where the rest of the banners are from.
B
Okay, so then there's a website called Little Happies.
A
Little Happies.
B
And they have the cutest banners ever.
A
Shop Little Happies.
B
I follow this girl on Instagram, Amy Beth Campbell. She's such a fun follow. Like anything she talks about, like, I just immediately want to buy. Amy Beth Campbell is her name. And she had like a back to school one. I'm like, why don't I have a back to school banner? Yeah, like the back to school is so cute. And then the fall ones, the Halloween. I like Halloween decorations that are like super kitschy. Like super kitty.
A
Yeah.
B
They're so cute. And then you can customize them. They have a football one. Like, hello, I was about to say, they have a football one, considering.
A
No, these are very cute.
B
Aren't they cute?
A
These are very cute.
B
You.
A
I think you need a football banner, though.
B
I know. I'm kind of thinking about it. So you can just. You can just customize them, too. Like, for example, I'm trying to find the Thanksgiving one. I know. I was like, I want two boy turkeys, two girl turkeys. And it was just, like, not a big deal. So shout out, little happies.
A
Little happies. These are very, very cute.
B
So cute, right?
A
So cute.
B
Okay.
A
Anyway.
B
And yes, it's Libby's birthday, and I'm very emotional about it. Yeah, I did. I thought it was gonna be fine. And then I put her to bed, and I walked into my kitchen and bust into tears. Tyler. Lily came running. He's like, what's wrong? What's wrong? I said, it's just over. I can't believe it's over because, like.
A
But do you. You always cry the night before your kid's first birthday?
B
I always cry that I. Before all their birthdays, I always cry, and I think I'm gonna be fine. I'm like. I'm like, that girl is so dramatic. Like, you don't. Like, you want her to get older.
A
Like, the stage is so hard.
B
And then I. Like, today, like, I don't think that girl's dramatic yet. But, like, in two days, I'll be like, that's so embarrassing. Like, that's what I'll say.
A
Yeah. Sloane turns 1 and 18 days, and I'm like, I don't think I'll feel a thing. Like, it's just another day.
B
Yeah. To me, it's like, I'm not the girl who's pregnant. I'm not the girl with the baby. And that is just a bit of a personality shift.
A
And I. An identity crisis.
B
It's an identity crisis, and it's just who I've been for so long. And I feel like when you get married young and have kids young, like, like, even when I didn't have them, like, I was, like, wanting to have them. Like, and that was my big personality. Like, I was. I want to get married. I want to have babies. Like, that I was my, like, most of my life.
A
Yeah.
B
And now, like, I'm like, that chapter is over.
A
Yeah. But now you have banners and football and hosting, and, like, you.
B
You.
A
You have so much more now.
B
I know I have. I have more I have more micro hobbies, but like, I just don't have. And then, you know, I like saw a pregnant girl, like a young, like she probably like 25, like a young pregnant girl. And I had like such jealousy towards her because I'm like, I used to be the cute pregnant girl, cute young pregnant girl, like with so much life left, it hurts so much.
A
Now you're just 32 year old mom of four.
B
No, I'm just like this mom of four. And I don't want another baby. Like I really don't. I just want my babies back, but I also don't. It's totally fine. It's totally fine. And it was so funny. I was crying and Hattie come up to me and she goes, mom, I'm gonna have 10 babies. I was like, so good to hear Hattie. Thank you friend. So I'll have plenty of grandchildren in zone. Anyway, happy birthday, Libby.

B
I feel like I've just talked so much.
A
I know. I don't really. I. I was kind of like waiting to see if you had anything else you wanted to say or. Are you good?
B
I'm good.
A
Okay. Well, I was thinking we could dive into last three transactions where we share our recent bank account subtractions. Because with Labor Day comes Labor Day sales and I've been transacting.
B
I did transact one on a banner, so I feel like. So that'll be my first one.
A
Okay, then I'll go. I. I haven't talked about this. I just really like Burt's Bees Jammies.
B
You are so on your Bird's Bees jammies grind.
A
I'm on my Bird's Bees jammies grind. I also, like, they're. They had really, really cute summer clothes. I don't think their fall clothes are quite as cute, but their summer clothes for girls were so cute. And a lot of them are in clearance right now. Maybe you want to go see. But they have so many cute Christmas jammies right now and holiday jammies. So I bought all the holiday. I got. Got all my holidays covered. I got a very cute Halloween. I wasn't gonna buy Halloween unless I saw one that spoke to me. It spoke to me. And in the past, I've always bought, like, Little Sleepies or Caden Lane. And those are now, like, $40 a pop. The Burt's Bees. And if they're on sale, it's like $12. So.
B
Okay. No, I'm looking at their website. First of all, they have football jammies. So I'm just.
A
I bought some of those for James.
B
I'm such a football fan now.
A
Football is also just, like, such an aesthetic sport. Like, I'm not. I. I will buy football jammies. Like, I'm not gonna buy a basketball jammies.
B
No. First of all, I totally agree.
A
Like, football's just cute.
B
Okay. This is so cute.
A
No, this stuff is. They have so many prints in the Christmas jammies, it's ridiculous.
B
And they go up, too. Oh, they have George's size. Oh, this is good.
A
And right now, because it's so early, a lot of them are in stock, so I.
B
So make haste.
A
I. I did a lot of burst jammies.
B
This is so exciting, Elizabeth.
A
Well, and you can get, like, three pairs for the price of one. Little Sleepies. And don't.
B
Are they cotton love?
A
Yeah, they're cotton. I love Little Sleepies. I love the bamboo. But, I mean, you know, in this economy.
B
They. They do get more and more expensive.
A
Yeah.
B
And the thing is, there's. I do like how soft they are. I do always feel like they just don't have the best prints, though. Like, sometimes they're just not my. No. Like, little sleepy.
A
Oh, little sleep. You've never been a fan of the Little Sleepies prints. They're, like. So they're, like, ugly cute. That. I like that. Burt's Bees are kind of A little bit more like a soft, like, aesthetically pleasing, not quite so in your face.
B
Well, that's a good one. I. My recent subtraction is I took advantage of the tea Labor Day sale tea collection. I'm such a stand for their clothes. And like I said earlier with the Crocs, the more I realize that, like, I have two and two. And when I think about the things that I kept for Hattie and that I kept from George, I just like things that all go together. And I think for the shirts that are cotton, like, they just last a lot longer. They wash better. And I'm hard on my clothes too. Like, I'm washing everything together. I'm not the best stain treater. So, like, I just like clothes that I feel like hold up and can get washed and dried 100 times, get sprayed with a bunch of, like, stain remover, and, like, just come out looking okay. So I really like the tea collection. They also have very realistic. I don't really like it. I shouldn't say I don't like it. For Fred, they don't have the cutest, like, truck stuff, but they have really good animal stuff. Like, I just got Georgia Glow in the dark scorpion shirt.
A
Yeah.
B
That I think he's gonna freak about. So they had 20 off. So I bought George and Hattie each one outfit. Like, shirt inch pants, shirt and pants. And it's like the kind of, like, they'll wear it once a week in the fall. And like, they'll. They won't tire of it. I won't tire of it. I'll pass it down. Like, it's just. I've been really, really impressed with the quality. This is the first time I've ever bought. I've never bought their pants, but I've heard really good things. I've just always bought their T shirts and T shirts, long sleeve shirts and dresses, but I've never bought their pants. So I'm excited to try those.
A
I'm sure they'll be great.
B
Everything else, apparently they're good for skinny kids. And George is so tall and so skinny.
A
Yeah.
B
So I'm hoping that those look good on him.
A
Okay. Something that I recently bought. With the renovation going on, I also need to start buying some furniture. Like, I need a dining room table. I need to decorate or get furniture for our office slash library. So something that mom has inspired me to do is go to consignment shops.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
And she went to a consignment shop and found me a kitchen table. It's beautiful. Excellent quality. Real wood. I'm obsessed with it. It was $300. It's like, it's like marketplace, but in person.
B
And that's the thing. It's a marketplace, but you can see it in person and that's.
A
It's marketplace prices and it's really unique finds. And so now I also found some wing back leather chairs for Maddie's library office, which is exactly what he's been looking for. And I just love buying second. I love that they just don't make furniture like they used to. And if they do make furniture like they used to, I can't afford it.
B
So it's thousands of dollars.
A
Thousands of dollars. And this is. We're talking hundreds of dollars for things that should have been thousands. So I just don't really think I realized what the consignment game was about. I thought it was used and also still really expensive. Yeah, it's. It. I mean, some pieces are obviously, but we. I've gone to multiple consignment stores since this and affordable secondhand stuff that's a little more vetted and not vetted, but like it's, it's. It's hand picked. Like, it's not like just going to like a thrift store where you never know what you're gonna get. I mean, you never know what you're gonna get at consignment store, but you know it's gonna be of nicer quality.
B
Yeah, totally.
A
Well, not. That's not to say you can't find something nice at Goodwill, but it's a hit or more of a hit or miss at Goodwill.
B
It's more of a hit or miss because it's because. Because they will take things that aren't as good quality where. Yeah. You know, when you walk there, it's. Even if it's not your style, you can still appreciate the quality.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. That's awesome. Let me. I need to look. I think that's. That's like the only things I bought for. I'm sure Amazon transacted something though. Wow. I'm doing like really good.
A
I'm not buying stuff.
B
I bought Sloan's birthday present.
A
What'd you get her?
B
I got her. I don't know how to pronounce it. C O R O L L E. Corel Corral.
A
It sounds like Corel.
B
Corel Bebe doll.
A
Cute.
B
They're the best baby doll. They're 12 inches. They have the. The head that smells like crack. Like it's the best smelling head in the world. Oh, it smells like a baby Like, I'm honestly not the crackhead. It smells. It's like a vanilla scent, but, like, it doesn't matter. Like, it's. It smells amazing. And someone got one for Hattie when she turned one. And I just feel like it's like a really good, like, intro. Baby doll. The corral. Baby doll. If you. If you looked up a picture, like, you'd know what I was talking about.
A
Oh, well, thank you for, you know.
B
The eyes open, the eyes close, soft body.
A
I still have no idea what I'm gonna get her. So I'm happy that someone is getting her something. Yeah.
B
And those are my transacts.
A
My last transaction is the one I'm most excited about. And it was inspired by. It was inspired by you.
B
Wow.
A
Facebook Marketplace. Paw Patrol Tower plus five. All the five vehicles. So here's the thing. The Paw Patrol tower that's currently available in stores doesn't look very good. There was an older one, like, the original one, and they no longer sell it. It was originally sold for, like, I.
B
Didn'T know they no longer sold it.
A
No, they don't. They sell a new one now.
B
I'm always sniffing out the same. Like, I'm always sniffing out the good vintage toys.
A
Let's see. Okay, Wait, is this one okay? It looks like you can levy shop. Looks like you can still buy this on lici Shop, but, like, you go to Walmart, it's not Target. It's not this one. It's an. It's a new one. Like, but this one that you. That we got on this website, it's $258 on this website. It's $134 just for the tower. EBay. 210 like it. I'm telling you guys.
B
Oh, my gosh.
A
I had this. No, I could be the new Clip Clop Castle.
B
I had. No, I. I just picked it up on a whim. I got mine with all the pups for 30 bucks.
A
Yeah, so I paid more than that. I got all the pups and the tower for $80. But there are a few in my area. They're going for 75. 80. I actually talked this girl down from a hundred and I got it for 80. They are. There's about three for sale in my area. So, like, they could be in your area. And if you have one that you're holding onto, the going rate that I've noticed is like between 60 and $80. It's with pups included. If you're not gonna have the pups, you gotta drive. You gotta drop that price down. So James is obsessed. He Woke up at 4:30 this morning saying paw patrol and he had to go play with his paw patrol at 4:30 this morning. He's obsessed.
B
Yeah. Here's the thing. Paw Patrol is the best part is I think it's one of the best toys of our generation of like our kids generation for a couple of reasons. I don't even like, I mean the show's fine. Like I don't. The show's fine. The toys are awesome because they're such a good size. Like I'm telling you, they're not making toys the right size anymore. And these are the right size because they're big enough with. They're not hot wheel size. But I can still put it in my diaper bag. There's characters and cars. The kids can put the dogs in the cars. They can line the cars up. They can line the dogs up. They can just play with the dogs. They can play with the cars. Like it's, it's very much like the little people. It's like, it's like, it's like little people vibes. But I almost like them better. It will 100 be like, I will keep those toys for my grandchildren. And I'm not even being drama when I say that. Like, and I know I might not keep the tower because I don't, might not want to store it for the next 40 years, 30 years. But you could be sitting on the.
A
Gold mine with that, with that tower.
B
You know how many things. First of all, I have a clip clap. I'm, I'm look, I have thousands of dollars. Clip Club Castle could easily launch that for 100 bucks. That little tykes thing, I got the JBF sale, $300. I have one of the McDonald's drive thrus that are going on eBay for 400 bucks. Got it for $5 at a garage sale. Like I have.
A
Your valuables are not in your jewelry. It's not bags, it's not in cash. It is in toys.
B
You could say it's a microhobby of.
A
Mine, the vintage toys. So I'm just telling you like you were right. If you have a kid who's into paw patrol or maybe dabbling into paw patrol, go on Facebook marketplace right now and try and find a tower. It's huge. It's like two feet tall, but it's huge.
B
It's not that big. It's. I've seen it's not that big and it's not that ugly. Here's the thing. It's Tall. It's not wide. I'm not mad at the footprint.
A
Okay. It's tall. It's not wide. And also, like, the cars and the pups can all be stored on the tower, so you. You can kind of clean it up in that way. The other thing that I like about Paw Patrol that I noticed James was doing is he is, like, learning his col colors, and he was really matching all the dogs up on, like, their color on the tower. And I'm like, what color is sky? And he says pink. And, like, it's a good way to introduce him to colors.
B
Sure.
A
I'm done with my Paw Patrol rant. But we're big fans.
B
Yeah. Who wouldn't be?
A
Who wouldn't be?
B
I'm into it. So, anyway, those are our last transactions.
A
Well, Kel, do you have any industry news?
B
You know what, Elizabeth? I knew you were going to ask me that.
A
Yeah.
B
And now it's time for industry news, where I spill the hot tea going on in the auto.
A
Auto industry.
B
Okay. And we've got some. So first things first. We got to talk about the federal tax credit. Okay.
A
Because do we have to?
B
Well, we do. It's not. It's not that. I mean, this is juicy Goss. So it's going away September 30th. The IRS says buyers have. But however, however, however. So that. That's been known. I think we've talked about this before. Like, TV tax credit, September 30th. It's gone. But the IRS says buyers of the EVS can claim the $7,500 federal tax credit if they make a payment on the car before the deadline, even if it isn't delivered yet. So it's just kind of. It's. It's. This is like. This isn't that juicy, but it's just like kind of a loophole to buy us a couple of extra days, potentially weeks, because basically a customer just needs to have a binding contract in place and at least one payment made before September 30 to obtain the tax credit. So this means that automakers can basically sell more EVs, even if they're not on the lot yet, as long as the process has been started.
A
Oh, okay.
B
But, yeah, so that's going away. So if you are thinking about buying an ev, make haste. Make haste, because you will lose. Miss out on that tax credit. September 30, which is also my wedding anniversary, which feels kind of like a weird way to celebrate that, but just letting you guys know. Okay, next, this is the Juice. Juice, Juice. Hertz And Amazon are collabing.
A
Yeah. What's that all about?
B
So Hertz car sales are now available at Amazon Autos. Hurt sells used cars on Amazon. They say. We're firm believers that car shopping should be as easy as possible. Which is why we partner with Amazon Autos to bring you brand new way to buy. Now you can conveniently shop our main, shop our maintain from day one vehicles on the online marketplace. Just shop Amazon Autos and pick one up at your local Hurt sales location within three days. Your next ride is just a few taps away. Are you ready to roll? So this is very, very, very similar to the Amazon Hyundai, the Amazon Hyundai thing in terms of like how it's going to work. But the, the juice is that like now they're just introducing it with used vehicles.
A
Has this out yet? No, no, it looks like Amazon Autos is still in beta and I'm only seeing Hyundai's right now.
B
Okay. So yeah. Oh yeah. More now available in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle. More locations coming soon. Yeah, so it's just by your location.
A
Okay.
B
So anyway, similar to the Hyundai thing, let's talk about what this is and what it's not. This is not buying a car from Amazon, it's buying a car on Amazon. Okay. It's more just like thinking of this like a lead source, like an Edmonds, like an auto trader. They're hosting the inventory and then they're helping hands handle some of like the financing, some of the pricing, making it easier, more streamlined. But you're still going to a Hertz dealership to pick up the car. Yeah, I think my problem with like, why I think this model just isn't going to fully work is I think you, especially with used cars, like, I think you need to see the car.
A
Yeah.
B
Like even new cars, I can understand it a little bit more. You know, because yeah, a new car is a new car. Like, you know, however it, you know, even if you have to go test drive new cars in the beginning, you know, once you decide you want the Hyundai Santa Fe, you want it black on tan. Okay, well then whoever has a black on tan, when you just buy, like it's not that big of a deal because it's a brand new car, but a used car, let alone a rental car. Yeah, like you gotta lay eyes on her.
A
I gotta lay eyes on it. You gotta I guess on it and like then go and look at it at the dealership. But to just like, but see then.
B
It'S an extra step, like to me that, to me then it's an extra step. Like, so then you like did all this paperwork, you bought it on Amazon, but then you like get there and it smells like smoke or like whatever. Like I don't know.
A
Right? Yeah, I don't know.
B
I'm just not the biggest fan.
A
Yeah, I'm, I'm not so sure about all of that. But I'm also like, I want to talk to someone most of here. Most of the time I am least human interaction as possible. Like, let me order my coffee online. I don't, I don't want to wait in line. I don't want to talk to someone.
B
Like, yeah, I'm, I am not that person. I like to, I don't like to order coffee.
A
I don't like to wait in line. I don't want to. I don't. I. Then I gotta wait for the coffee. Like I am order it on my phone. It is there when I pick it up. Like, I'm all about streamlining processes. Something like this though, I want to talk to a salesperson.
B
Well, and it's just, but here's the thing. I'm also the, the car industry's got to get us together. They've got to work on improving the in person experience.
A
Yeah.
B
And I always talk about this when I, whenever I have the opportunity to talk to dealers. I always talk about if I, if I, if I can't make a football reference. They're fumbling the ball. Because how many other industries would love to still be able to sustain all these brick and mortar locations like the auto industry. We have storefronts, we have locations. We, we can still like the movie theaters could never, like they're scrap. They're trying to convince anyone to come watch a movie. People are coming to your door to have this shopping experience and you guys are fumbling the ball like other industries would for this. They would kill for it. And I think the, I think what it really comes down to is the industry, which again, believe me, whenever I get into group of dealers, I tell them this. The industry is still too focused on sales. And they're not these sales people. They're not customer service experts. And they need to be product and customer service experts. They don't need to be sales experts. Like, this is not, it's not. I just don't think there's as much room for sales as there used to be because one, all the information's out there. People are getting smarter. The consumer has more tools and at their disposal. So I just think, and I'm not saying I'm not saying that there's not an art to sales, because there's definitely an art to sales. But I think that the industry puts too much of an emphasis on just trying to get their salespeople to be better at sales instead of getting their sales people to better at customer service.
A
Dang, girl. And I think that's like.
B
No, I think that's, like, really profound.
A
Yeah, I think so, too.
B
And, yeah, you know, that's what I have to say about that. So we'll see what happens. And that's industry news.
A
Okay, well, now it is time for ditch the drive through, where we give you an easy dinner recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner dinner rut. Well, I have one.
B
Okay.
A
This one may have been shared. It's kind of one of those ones you forget about. Three ingredients. Ham, Swiss, crescent rolls.
B
Elizabeth, I bought the stuff yesterday.
A
No, you did not.
B
To make them.
A
No, you did not.
B
100. That's a September meal. Elizabeth.
A
It's a September meal.
B
It's. It's a September meal.
A
It is one of those meals, too, that you can, like, buy at the beginning of the week and not make until Friday. Like sometimes when you buy a chicken or.
B
Yeah, that's so true. Like, I love that.
A
You can make it for lunch. You can make it for dinner. And also to your point of the roast beef, like, also, like, roast beef is such a. Is such an underrated deli meat for me.
B
Yeah. People aren't talking about roast beef enough.
A
No, they aren't.
B
No. So anyway, ham, Swiss, crescent rolls. Mom used to make them before us growing up all the time. You get a crescent roll, you get deli ham and Swiss. Do a turkey, cheddar. Do. Do a pepperoni, mozzarella. Do whatever the heck you want. It's a lunch meat and a cheese and a crescent roll. And don't. Please don't ask for a recipe, you guys. You just roll them all together. You know, creative freedom. You could do it in a ring, you could do it in a roll.
A
You could do it in a roll. You can make the cheese go one way and the meat go the other way. I was kind of playing with the best way to do it. And they all kind of turned out the same. Totally.
B
They all turned out the same. But it's such. Also like a great after school snack or like a great. You know how we. I like to kind of do like that 4 o' clock dinner sometimes. Like, that's such an easy thing to pull out.
A
Yeah.
B
So good. Serve it with some Tomato soup, if you want to judge it. And see, that's a recipe. I love a recipe that you can do. You can give it 1%. You can give it 100. Because what about like a brie, an apple with like, you know, with rosemary on top? What if you went that direction? Sure, sure. With an oven roasted turkey breast.
A
Also another great thing for mothers with kids with allergies like I am. I just didn't put cheese on Sloan's and I didn't have to make a separate meal for her. And she just gotta have the crescent roll on the ham.
B
It's such an iconic. I'm starving. Yeah, I kind of want to make that. We're having it's Ly's birthday today, so we're having poppy seed chicken casserole, which I know is so controversial around here. Yeah. Also, though, feels like a good September meal.
A
Yeah, it is good. Well, and my kids, it is really good. It was just like the third time around. I wasn't interested in it, but it is really, really good.
B
I'm not sure it's the freezer meal I want to. I think it's just better fresh.
A
It's really good. Fresh.
B
Yeah, it's really good. So we're having that for supper tonight, and I'm so excited.
A
Yeah, I love that. And with that, that is our episode. So thank you so much for listening to the carpool podcast. We are back to two episodes a week, so we will have another episode tomorrow.
