Welcome to the Carpool podcast with Kelly.
Unnamed Beta St. John
You're showing someone a song that they don't know and then you like, sing it to them and it's like, shut up. Like, let me listen to it. Like, sorry, I haven't heard the song. First of all, you singing it poorly is not helping me.
Liz
And Liz, you know what? I don't even like, you haven't heard that song? No, I don't. Pull out your phone and put Spotify on.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Oh, don't pull out your mom.
Colleen
Time off starts now.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Welcome back to the Carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz and the unnamed Beta St. John. But yeah, stay tuned because she may be named by the end of this episode.
Liz
We have Colleen from Naming Bibi come on to give me a naming consultation, which is literally my dream come true.
Unnamed Beta St. John
It was like I could sit in on them all day. Like, if she ever needs an assistant, a sounding board. Like, if anyone wants me in my no experience to do a baby naming consult, like, I would love to. I love baby names. I'm obsessed.
Liz
It's really fun. And this is the only time in your life that you could do it. Like, you really get one shot because even when you have like grandbabies, like, you gotta stay out of that conversation. Like, you have to get so far out of that. This is your only time to do it. And it's really fun and it's really exciting.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Naming animals, like, just does nothing for me. Like we have so many animals. Like you think it would like scratch the itch a little bit? It doesn't scratch my itch at all to want to name another baby.
Liz
Well, because a baby, you're thinking about an adult, you're thinking of who they're going to be have. I love carry the name.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I love the sib set as she calls them. Like how it sounds like other kids names. I just, yeah, I love all of it.
Liz
I love it also. It was really fun. Literally my dream come true. And just like I just like loved sitting there and just like having someone just like listen to me talk about all my irrational thoughts about.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And she asked hard hitting questions. You know one of her first questions out of the gate was what about Kelly? And I think we've all been wondering what about the name Kelly?
Liz
I think you've been probably. No, I think a lot of people have actually. Oh okay. Well stay tuned because I answer what about Kelly?
Unnamed Beta St. John
Anyway, before that it's post 4th of July and I'm just so pleased to report that I again once again love being a kid Mom. I am sorry to be annoying. Thriving for so many summers. It hadn't been my summer and this summer is in fact my summer.
Liz
I know. No, I'm very happy for you. It's very much deserved. You very much earned it and I am just so happy to see you happy.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I love. It's just so fun to have my whole body to myself to give it all to my children in a more in a different way than like a pregnancy breastfeeding way. And I'm just having so much fun. We had such a good time at the lake. The kids had so much fun and like I, I'm getting to my where it's like I don't want summer to end. Like what.
Liz
But just thinking about you saying like you're giving your body to your kids in a way it's like yeah like you getting on a tube with Libby. Your kids are probably like mom's getting on a tube normally. Because normally mom's been sitting in, in in the boat breastfeeding. A b. Couldn't get on the tube.
Unnamed Beta St. John
No, I love it. And like I just really think, I know we talked about this in the last episode but like my brain is just wired like a child's not like. And I. So we had, we had some of our of my cousin's kids come down and she has like older kids. So I think her kids are like I don't know 10 through or 11 through six. She's got four boys. Like, so she has a lot of kids. And I was just like, I was coming up with the best games. So like we played like. And they're all the games from our childhood. Elizabeth. So we played the one game where like I stood on the other end of the deck. Dock. I'm sorry, the other end of the dock. And they had to try to cannonball to try to get me wet. Like they did it for hours.
Liz
Oh yeah, sure.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Like so fun. Or did I get you? And I'm like, not a drop. Try harder. Like it was so funny.
Liz
Like, oh no.
Colleen
Like let's jump in together.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Like their belly flopping. Like they were having. That's just such a fun game. We played categories classic where you jump off the high dive and mid jump. I say color and you have to say something.
Liz
Classic. Yeah, done.
Unnamed Beta St. John
We had one of those like water mats that like go on the lake and we kept inching it further and further into the water to see if they could clear the jump over it.
Liz
So fun.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Like so.
Liz
And like games like, cuz you, you've always said you don't love playing like with your kids. You don't like getting on the ground and fighting dinosaurs.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But like, I'm not doing pretend play.
Liz
No, you like this kind of stuff. Like you're having fun.
Unnamed Beta St. John
You want me to set up a game? Capture the flag. Done. Yeah.
Liz
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Like let's go. And Georgie and Hattie, we're just like keeping up with them. And it was so fun. Like really, I just had a really great weekend.
Liz
It's fun to see your kids with older kids because you see that they're maybe more ready for things or they'll catch on to things that you maybe weren't. Didn't think they were ready for if they can like follow older kids doing it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Totally.
Liz
That's. That's a lot of fun. Well, while you were doing that, I did not go to the Ozarks because I'm just too freaking pregnant.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And I'll be honest, Liz, you would have probably brought the vibe down.
Liz
Well, okay, so this week and I. I've been meaning to post this in the Facebook group because I have been experiencing what Google is and myself I'm diagnosing as pelvic girdle pain, which if you've experienced girdle pain, which 1 in 5 pregnant women do. WTF is this? I am in constant pain. It hurts to walk, it hurts to stand, it hurts to lay down. Like when I'm laying in bed rolling over an agonizing pain so can't believe I have to do this for several more weeks. Doesn't seem right. Doesn't seem fair. I thought with my first one, I thought I was so good at being pregnant. I'm just. Like, I'm. I have no pain. I have no nausea. Like, I'm just built for this. Like, I'm just better. I'm just so good at being pregnant anyway. I've been immediately humbled, and I'm struggling in a big way, but I'm gonna push through.
Unnamed Beta St. John
You're gonna push through. And we're. I'm. I'm here to help in any way I can.
Liz
I mean, Cal, I was laying in bed the other night, and I told Maddie. I'm like, it will be easier to have a baby right now than to. For me to be experiencing this. Like, that's how bad it is. And that's crazy to think that I'm like, I just need to get a third child. I just need a third child out of the womb to take care of, because in the womb, it's not working for me.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I'm so sorry, Biebs.
Liz
It's fine. I am so thankful for you and for mom and for Maddie and for everyone helping me out. So I'm really, really lucky.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Well, I did develop. Or I didn't. I did become aware of, like, a new ick that I just, like, want to bring up, and it's something that I have done in the past, and I just want us to. As, like. As a. As a population, as a generation, if we need to stop doing this.
Kelly
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
You know when you, like, tell someone, like, oh, have you heard this song before? Or, like, you don't know this song, or, like, you know this. You're showing someone a song that they don't know, and then you, like, sing it to them. Like. Like, you're like, let's go. Like, then. And it's like, shut up. Like, let me listen to it. Like, sorry, I haven't heard this song. First of all, you singing it poorly is not helping me and, like, why I can't sing along with you, so just shut up.
Liz
You know what? I don't even. Like, you haven't heard that song? No, I don't. Pull out your phone and put Spotify on.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Oh, don't pull out. Send it to me in a text if you're that passionate about it. Because.
Liz
Because then we have to sit there for three minutes, and I have to pretend like, I. Like, I. I will maybe grow to like that song, but I need to listen To a song a couple of times. The first time I hear a song, I don't like it. But don't make me sit now in silence with. Well, in silence with you outside of the song playing and like have me have to react and then I'm saying.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And then they're like singing it, like louder, like pointing at you. Like, you're like, what am I supposed to do with. I don't know this song?
Liz
Like, yeah, hate, hate, hate. Okay, I agree.
Unnamed Beta St. John
That just obviously came up at the lake partying this weekend. You know, in partying we did like, Charlotte posted a recap reel our brother's fiance. And I'm like, oh my gosh. We like drink so much.
Kelly
That was my one takeaway from the video.
Liz
I'm like, it's a really cute, well done video. Like, like, so much fun. Like, oh my gosh. All they did was drink.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I did not drink that much. But.
Liz
Well, it's also just a snippet of it all, you know, it was just a snippet.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But you're showing.
Liz
You're showing. Yeah, it looked like fun.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I was playing categories and I mean, I got my hair wet every single day. Like I was in the lake. I'm a fun. I'm a fun mom.
Liz
You are fun.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I just don't like sitting with a baby. Like, I would just so much rather not do that. I would rather be playing with the kids, but not the toddlers. There's a difference for me. I don't want to play with the toddlers. I want to play with the kids. Yeah, another, like, big development because I've already been working on my summer notes and I, at the end of summer, I'm going to give a summer note recap. But like, really, like, to me, the MVP of the weekend was Life is good in their patriotic T shirts. I'm so happy for the recommendation and to have found Life is good T shirts because the one thing about life is good is it' they do. They're. They're a T shirt company. And I love investing in decent play clothes. Like, I like 100% cotton shirt and I like a well made T shirt. I like a T shirt I can pass down. I like a T shirt I can wash a hundred times. And I love Hannah Anderson, Bowden Tea. Those kids shirts are upwards of sometimes they're $29 a pop for a kids T shirt. I'm sorry. Be so for real.
Liz
Yeah, be so for real.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And so sometimes I'll buy them on clearance or sometimes I'll find them thrifting or, like, sometimes I will buy one, but, like, Tea Collection. Who? I love tea. I. I mean, I love Tea Collection. And I do. I do. I buy a ton of resale from them. I do buy some new things. I wanted to buy an American Girl doll shirt for Hattie because they had an American Girl doll edition. It's a $39T shirt. Get out of here. Yeah, I'm not playing that for a child's T shirt. And I'm not a good laundress, so it's going to get stained. If I was a better laundress, maybe I'd feel differently. I'm not.
Liz
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Life is Good shirts. Great quality, great prints. 100 cotton wash is great. 16. And sometimes they have sales and that is enough. Like, it's. It's a special t shirt. Like, 16 bucks times four. Like, it's still not amazing. It's not $8. It's not cat and Jack. But they are so amazing. I literally cannot wait to see what they can do for fall and Christmas.
Liz
Yeah, no, it's. They're good. They're going to be good ones to buy when you just like, buy the siblings the sibling set and it's like a special occasion tea.
Kelly
No.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Right. But I'm telling you, I mean, they had one deal where it was like, you bought four, five shirts, you got one for free, so you paid for four shirts. I'm like, okay, that was good. So then it made all the shirts a little cheaper. And they're so.
Kelly
Well.
Liz
And you're getting to the age, too, where it's like, you can't buy Cat and Jack shirts that are all going to match because Georgian, they don't make them. They're not the same prints. They're not going to go together.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I don't really need them to match all that much. As much as I'm just looking for,
Liz
like, not match, but go together.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Go together. I'm just looking for, like, a fun, festive shirt. And I was just really excited. About what? About what Cat and Jack could do for me.
Liz
About what Life is Good could do for you.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Sorry, what did I say? Cat and Jack.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
No, I'm excited to see what. How Life is Good will continue to serve me.
Liz
It's exciting.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Another big note I have for, like, if you are a younger family and you're a lake family, my recommendation to. So, like, Tyler bought us all life jackets. He was very body. Body. Is it called Body glove? Shout out Best life jackets. And Tyler's like, I'm just buying all all of our family matching life jackets. Because when we go to the lake, there's no question, like, which one is which. It's like all the stumpies ones are these blue and orange life jackets. And I was like, it's a good idea. Like, just buy the life jackets. And so we bought like literally two sizes in some of the sizes. Because, like, whatever. We did the math. We own like seven of these life jackets now. And our biggest regret, I looked at him today and I'm like, you should have got them red, white, and blue.
Liz
Okay. Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Because when you're at the lake. Because first of all, summer is patriotic. Like, I'm wearing red, white, and blue always looks good in the summer, whether it's the 4th of July or not. And I was a little mad that all my kids had these like red, white, and blue shirts and shorts and swimsuits, and then they had to put on an orange life jacket.
Liz
Oh, it was a really good note. I kind of want to adopt with you guys. I'm gonna do that. I'm trying to find a red, white, and blue. And I'm buying my family all matching life jackets.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah.
Liz
Because we, we need to do that. That's a good note. I appreciate that.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And also I wrote on my note to think about, like, when I'm buying summer clothes for the kids, remember they're going to be wearing a red, A lot of red, white and blue. So, like, only having black shorts isn't very helpful. Like, I'd love a navy. I'd love a red short. Like, I wish George would have had red shorts.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
You know what?
Liz
I think like a color, a color scheme for your child is a good idea. But I like, I like that you, you can make that a seasonal color scheme. So it's like in the, in the fall, he doesn't only have to wear, like, you can, you can introduce greens and such in the fall if you want to. But like, yeah, maybe when you're doing. Because at this age you have to like buy them wardrobes every freaking season.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah.
Liz
Maybe like stick to a color scheme.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Well, and I'm thinking about their summer crocs because as you guys know, one of my notes last year was like, I just believe in buying name brand crocs because I just think they hold up well. My kids wear Crocs all summer. Like, that's all we wear. Next summer, I will buy the girls white and I will buy the boys navy. So again, Libby isn't wearing her red, white and blue and these sparkly pink crocs yeah. And guess what? I'm telling you. Our. Our new summer color scheme is red, white, and blue.
Liz
I love red. White. I think red, white and blue.
Unnamed Beta St. John
White and blue with a hint of red. And I can take the white and blue into the other seasons because we wear a lot, a lot of white and blue in this house. And then we'll introduce the red. But, yeah, I'm. I'm not doing. I'm not buying orange shorts anymore. I'm just not doing this. I'm not playing this game.
Liz
I. I approve of all of this.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah. So that, that was. That's one of my biggest summer takeaway notes.
Liz
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Because even if we're not, then everyone matches. Everyone goes together. And, like, it's so effortless. Yeah. Yeah. So big note for me.
Liz
Okay. I like it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Don't you like that? Like, I really thought that through.
Liz
No, I love it. I'm gonna. I'm going to adopt it. I'm going to. I'm gonna take it. It was hell. It's helpful for me.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay.
Kelly
So thank you.
Liz
Thank you, thank you. Let's see, what else? Something on my. What I'm thinking, we're just like, thinking two totally different things is I'm thinking about my hospital bag, and I have started packing it and I've started watching content around hospital bags in my new ick is. And there's a time that I like this and there's a time that as influencers, we've done things like this. But, like, I'm so sick of watching reels where someone will pack something and it's like everything they just bought off Amazon. And I know you've never used any of this stuff, and you're telling me to comment link for all of the stuff that you just bought that you don't even know if it's good or not. And I see it a lot in packing videos. Like, let's pack my. Let's pack my hospital bag. Let's pack my car. And I'm like, you don't. This is all brand new stuff. I don't know if you actually use this stuff. Like, you know what I mean? I just like the moment I see, like, a clear plastic container that's going to be stuffed with more plastic things. I'm. I'm like, I'm logging off. Like, I'm done. Yeah. But something that I've noticed about the hospital. I started packing my hospital bag and I almost felt like I was doing it wrong because I don't have anything new in my bag. It's like, these are the pajamas I wore, I've had for three years. Yeah, these are the. My toilet. My toiletry bag is, you know, hashtag toiletries remnants all over it. Like, it's not pretty. It's not new. Like, I'm not going to post a pack my hospital bag with me because it's all, like, ugly and not aesthetically pleasing. But because I've watched so many reels of other people packing their beautiful hospital bags, I feel like I'm literally doing it wrong.
Colleen
Liz.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I think, you know, to be a successful content creator, it's also knowing where your strengths lie. And there are going to be more aesthetically pleasing, more organized, better hospital packing videos than you. So don't even throw your hat in the ring. Pick your hat up.
Liz
No, I'm not. And so that's not what I'm saying. I'm not gonna throw my hat in the ring. But what I'm saying is that because I've watched so many and because the Internet just has so many beautiful ones and I. I have a false sense of reality.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah.
Liz
And I think that's a problem. So I'm just like, drawing.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I'm trying to solution.
Liz
Well, no, I'm just saying that it's normal to not to just have like, your old crusty stuff bringing to the hospital. The only anything new that's coming with me to the hospital is gonna be for the baby because I do like to buy my b. Babies their own individual swaddle because I associate a pattern with my child as a newborn, as we all do. But yeah, like, no, I'm not buying, like, a new robe and new pajamas and new everything. And I'm not gonna. I don't take photos in the hospital. Like, you're just not gonna see it. And I'm just so on, like, that side of Instagram. And I just, like, okay. I don't know. I just, like, I. I just want everyone to. I just want people to know if anyone else is feeling like me and like, their stuff doesn't feel good enough because what you see on the Internet, it's just, they're. It's just, it's not true. It's not real.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I think that's. I think that's a real. I think it's always good to just remind people of that.
Liz
I was just reflecting and I wanted to share my reflections and.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And that's what this. And that's why you have a platform in the podcast.
Liz
Exactly. Exactly. Who else do you want to say to?
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah, I mean, I'm Just, like, wondering, have you gotten any hate for, like, your child not having a room and, like, having a dresser in a hallway? And I also know for a fact you own a Louis Vuitton purse, too.
Liz
No, I haven't. I haven't faced any hate for it yet, but I stay off that side of the Internet.
Kelly
Right.
Liz
I don't look at the hate stuff anymore, and that's all. And that's on growth. No, I haven't. I haven't. I haven't had that yet.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Well, should we give you just so
Liz
much more polarizing than me, though?
Unnamed Beta St. John
I'm so polarizing.
Liz
Yeah. Yeah. We can get to. We can get to our interview. I loved it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I want to do. Okay, we don't have to do it on this episode. But, like, also, I just really enjoyed a lot of good, like, snackies and dips this weekend too.
Liz
Oh, okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And, like, I just, like, love a snacky and a dip.
Liz
Okay. Like, what are you thinking of specifically?
Unnamed Beta St. John
So two. Let me just. Let me just get them out of the way really fast because we're only doing one episode a week, and people might want to throw this for their next shindig. So there's two dips that will be gone if you make them, and they're both three ingredients.
Liz
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Four ingredients. One's four ingredients. And I'm not counting the chips, but total chips included five ingredients.
Colleen
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay. The first one is Mama J's taco dip. Classic. This is our childhood. Our mom's best friend, we call our Mama Jay, and her dip is sour cream taco seasoning. Spread thinly on, like, you know, a pie dish. These are. You can make these both in a pie dish. Sour cream taco seasoning. Mix it up, spread it on a pie dish, top with shredded cheese, add diced cherry tomatoes. Serve with tostinos, or serve with, like, a tortilla chip. Unbelievable. Will be gone.
Liz
Mm.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Can. Elizabeth will not be gone.
Liz
Insane. Delicious. I think sometimes she's added, like, olives in the past. Like, you can always.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Unnecessary. But, like, I'm sorry. Get out of here. With, like, your seven layer dip with the refried beans. I'm sorry. Get out of here. I don't want that.
Liz
It's. It's unnecessary. I know.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I want your browned guacamole. I don't want any of that. This is, like a good go to boat. Like, you put it in the fridge. You can make it the day before you put in the fridge. You pull it out. It's easy.
Liz
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And you will eat it.
Liz
You can make it on the boat. You can make. You can mix the. The top seasoning in the. In the sour cream container and then bring it on.
Unnamed Beta St. John
You can just serve that if you have to. I mean, it's better in a pie dish with cheese, but if you don't have that head space, you don't have the headspace.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
The next one does require to be baked, but it's so worth it. It's a Same pie dish. Well, different pie dish, which maybe you're bringing, too. Cream cheese on the bottom.
Liz
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Then you get canned chili.
Liz
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Oh, you've had. This is Susie's dip.
Liz
I don't think I've had this.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Cream cheese on the bottom. Canned chili. I prefer, like, a no bean canned chili.
Liz
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I know. It's like, like, it's like, oh, I would never eat canned chili. You're fine. It's great in a dip, top it with cheddar cheese, pop it in the oven till the cheese is melty and
Liz
everything gets like, oh, okay, Now, I didn't know it was canned chili.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah.
Liz
I never thought about how you make it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
It's canned chili.
Liz
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Serve with Fritos. Unbelievable. So then you get melted cheese, chili, cream cheese, which I get. Like, I would never probably. I. I draw the line at eating a bowl of canned chili. I'll eat a bill. I'll eat a bowl of canned soup. I could never eat canned chili, but I can enjoy it in a soup or in a dip. I'm sorry.
Kelly
I would never.
Liz
I don't. I would never not eat canned chili.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay, well, I'll let you look at the can when you're pulling it out and then decide.
Liz
Okay, sure, Sure. I didn't know that's how you made that dip. That's a really good dip. I like that one heated up. I like the melted cheese.
Unnamed Beta St. John
It's so.
Liz
I know I had a cream cheese base. I'm learning a lot right now.
Colleen
It is.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I made both of them. Both gone, like, scraping the pan. People were.
Liz
Okay, fabulous.
Unnamed Beta St. John
So they're two very easy dips.
Colleen
Fabulous.
Liz
I love that.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah. And those are, like, you could both just, like, always have those on hand, and then when, like, people come over or like, if you feel like your dinner that you made is, like, a little light, you pull out a dip to. To just kind of, you know, fill in the gaps.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
I love it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay, well, that's all I got. I mean, that's a lot.
Liz
No, it's a lot. You're going out of town tomorrow.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Oh, my Gosh And I'm going to Florida tomorrow.
Liz
You're going to Florida tomorrow? There's so much to do today. A podcast. And you know what I'm doing tomorrow? What is. I'm packing up all my podcast record equipment. I'm taking it to BMW of West St. Louis, and I am interviewing dad.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Wow.
Liz
I don't know when that episode's gonna come out. I think it might just be like a hold for when we aren't able to get a podcast out and we'll, we'll post it. But this will be Big Craig's big debut on the podcast and I'm really excited about it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I'm excited too. And as although I'm sad to miss it, I do think he will be better with just a one on one.
Liz
Yeah, I agree.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And I think you're the better person to do it because I think me and him would talk over each other.
Liz
I just, I think it's gonna be really good. And I, I have to approach it differently than we approach mom with the podcast because dad's not like going to be like a girly girl and like talk on the podcast. Like, we could just like have mom here. So it definitely he. His hand needs to be held a little bit more and it has to be a little bit more organized and formal and everything. So that's my approach with him.
Colleen
Love.
Liz
So yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay, guys, well, let's get into our interview with Nemen baby.

Today's episode is brought to you by Rocket Money. Quick story time about Rocket Money. The other day, my husband asked if we were still paying for a certain subscription. So I went on our Rocket Money app and saw that we were not. However, I did see that I was still being charged for a subscription that I had called that company and canceled months ago, and I was still getting charged every month for it. So you can imagine how upset I was to see that, but how thankful I was that Rocket Money pointed out just one of the reasons why I really appreciate Rocket Money. Because they track my subscriptions.

Unnamed Beta St. John
Neman Bebe aka named Colleen welcome to the Carpool Podcast. Is this your first time? No, second time.
Colleen
Second time. We probably did it like a year ago. It was right after you guys had had your bibbies. Libby and Sloan.
Unnamed Beta St. John
So I walk around with my head just a little higher than the rest of you because me and Colleen both have a son with the same name. So like, if a baby naming consultant chose my baby's name, like, it's kind of. I'm kind of that girl.
Liz
Which one?
Kelly
George.
Colleen
George on Fred. Yeah. Actually, what's funny is if I ever had another child, which is very unlikely, Frederick would be high on my list. And I'm like, I'd probably have to have a little like heart to heart with Kelly to make sure that's cool with her.
Unnamed Beta St. John
It is. Out of all my children's names, his name gets the most compliments for sure. I feel like when you first have a baby, they're like, everyone's like, oh, I love the name. But when someone looks like and compliments their name. Like they hear me on the playground and they'll be like, it's his name, Fred. I'll be like, yeah, that's the cutest name I've ever heard. Thank you.
Liz
He wears it well.
Unnamed Beta St. John
He does wear it well.
Colleen
It's so cute and you just don't hear it much.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Well. And you know what else I like about like old fashioned names? Because you have Rory, Jane and George and Liz. You have James and Sloan. So like, we kind of all have like, we're, we're all in the same. We all have the same elk.
Colleen
Kind of like a, we're on a Venn diagram and we each have our own little totally part.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But what I like about like those older, more classic names is. Do you know, like the old people's days I just make when they're like, oh my God, her name's Harriet. That was my mother's name. And it's like this old woman or she. Or like, I mean, it's like I am single handedly putting smiles on old people's faces every single day when I go out with my children because of their names.
Colleen
It's so true. Like, the most compliments I get are from people like 65 and up.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Totally, totally.
Colleen
And I, I've almost, I think I've met one other little Jane, but other than that, the Janes I meet are like 80 and up. Or like I've met a dog named Jane, which is a whole nother field of names.
Liz
Which, which is such a common. Like, it's not a weird name. Like it's a regular old name. It's like, right, it's a beautiful name, but it's not like that's what I love. Those are the types of names that I love that sound like names and our names but aren't like
Kelly
done.
Colleen
So I feel like both me and Liz have like some like more classic names. And then like we, we dipped our toes in the modern waters. I have Rory, you have Sloan.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I think you guys do too.
Colleen
These like Celtic names that have come over and become mainstream in America. Like Liam being the most like, popular example.
Liz
Totally. No, it's very funny. We. I talked about my baby names and someone was like, I think it's interesting that Liz said she likes traditional names. Like, Sloan isn't very traditional. And my husband commented on it and he's like, it's an ancient Irish name. Like, it is. It's just not like an American name.
Colleen
He's fighting the good fight.
Liz
He is, he is.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I would have been like, yeah, it's so new. I. I agree with that person. I did not know how old of
Kelly
a name it was.
Colleen
Well, I remember when you guys were talking about it, like, when you were pregnant and you were giving clues and you were like, kelly didn't know how to spell it or something like that.
Liz
For a lot of names, not a very good clue.
Colleen
And so this time around, will we be incorporating the name Kelly? You know, what's. What's fair.
Liz
What's fairly fair is Kelly is a family name for Kelly is my sister's name, but Kelly's also our mom's maiden name, which is where her name comes from. So Kelly is not off the list for our contenders for a baby's middle name.
Colleen
Yeah.
Liz
Throughout any of right now, I think we're more considering, like, Christine or Elizabeth. Christine's our mom's name. Elizabeth is my name. Also our grandmother's name. There's, like, a lot of traditional.
Colleen
As a middle.
Liz
As a middle, potentially. But I wouldn't say no to Kelly. I wouldn't.
Colleen
Yeah.
Liz
I don't hate it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay, Colleen, thanks for asking that question.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Because I got you. I've been circling the drain on it because it's, like, just, like, wondering, like, if it's even. Yeah.
Liz
But like, we also, like, like, I. I think more for probably a boy, but I do like the thought of using Suntrap as a middle name.
Colleen
Yeah. Love that.
Liz
But that's probably more what I would want to do for a boy, so not so much less consult. So we're having. Anyway, we're having Colleen on the podcast again. I need what she calls name. Like, naming baby 911. Like, we don't have the name.
Colleen
The clock is ticking. Time's running out.
Liz
So Maddie and I cannot, like, he has names that if. If I weren't in the picture, like, the baby would be named. If Maddie was in the picture, the baby would be named. So we're trying to, like, bridge that.
Colleen
Yeah.
Liz
Gap.
Colleen
Classic.
Liz
So I'm very curious to just, like, do a naming consultation. This is. This is the instance that I think you're here for. Like, husband and wife can't figure it out. Like, let's. Let's bring in the experts.
Colleen
It's really named therapy at this point
Unnamed Beta St. John
where we're just kind of like, okay, Dr. Colleen, let's hear it.
Colleen
I mean, at the end of the day, Liz is having the baby. I do have a little bias towards, like, the mom gets the final say.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And if you think about it, like, the dad picked the last name, so it's also like, calm down.
Colleen
Well, usually people will be like, well, I get the middle name because he got the last name. But I feel like names fall into this bucket of, like, style and aesthetic that generally we do take the lead on. Like, when you think about, like, your house decor and things like that.
Unnamed Beta St. John
My husband has no style or aesthetic. So I hear. I see what you mean.
Colleen
So he can help.
Liz
But I will say whatever. If I was like, absolutely. I kind of did that with Sloan. I was like, sloan is the name I've always had for a girl. Like, that's gonna be the name. My husband is. Will always, you know, give me essentially whatever I want. But I do think it's important to consider his wishes.
Colleen
And you want them to be excited about it.
Liz
Oh, I want him to love it. Like, I want him to because he loves our kids names. Like, I want him to feel that same, like, joy and pride that I feel. So.
Colleen
And it does get harder the more kids you have. Like, for sure used your best stuff. And, like, I think sometimes the love has to grow a little bit as you, like, have more.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I love that.
Colleen
But let's get started.
Liz
Okay, let's do it.
Colleen
So generally, I would have sent you a 15 question questionnaire to fill out about your name preferences before we started. But we're just going to gather a little information here because we probably don't have time for that. So the biggest things are, what are your kids names? We already know that we've got James and Sloan. What are your top contenders? And then in that list, I want to hear, like, what names you love that have gotten vetoed and what names Matt Maddie loves that have gotten vetoed.
Liz
Okay, so, like, names that I. If I could name the baby, it would be. The name would be Gwen.
Colleen
Oh, my God. I had it on my list for you.
Liz
I love Gwen.
Colleen
So cute.
Liz
Something. A name that Maddie really likes that is similar to Gwen is Quinn, but it's not the same to me. And so I couldn't really go with that. Okay, we, like, we've talked about Margot, we've talked about Maeve, We've talked about Cecilia.
Colleen
Okay.
Liz
I feel like we kind of.
Kelly
Oh, Maddie.
Liz
One name that Maddie liked was Aurelia, which is just too much. That's too much of a mouthful for me. Yeah, I get that he really loves, like, names, like, rooted in history. Okay, so we're not big on, you know, like, surnames. Okay. I love. I. I said, like, I like to name, like, Cameron. Like, I like Ryan. Like, I kind of, like, do like,
Colleen
the cool girl names.
Liz
The cool girl masculine names. But Maddie has a harder time giving a girl, like, a traditionally male name, so.
Kelly
Okay.
Colleen
Okay, Interesting. Because Sloane is, like, in that bucket. It's currently more of a girl's name.
Liz
Whereas Cameron, because it has, like, a history, because Maddie's family is from. Is Irish. So again, like, it ties to, like, those Celtic things. So it's like he. We've kind of realized, as we've talked about it, we like French names, French sounding names, and we like Irish sounding names.
Colleen
Okay.
Liz
I love, like, we love the name. What's that name that's, like, so impossible to spell? That's Irish. Like Saoirse. Saoirse. We both think that's beautiful.
Colleen
I know.
Liz
I couldn't believe I literally knew.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Hold on. I can't believe you literally knew what name she was talking about.
Colleen
Liz goes.
Unnamed Beta St. John
What's that name that's impossible to stop? Shirsha. That's.
Liz
I think it's. I think it's beautiful.
Colleen
It's so cool.
Liz
I know, but, like, I can't do the spelling.
Colleen
S, A, O, I, R, S, E. Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay. Can we pause for just a second? Can I ask just a question? I do find it interesting, like, names that you like the sound of but hate the spelling of.
Colleen
Yep.
Unnamed Beta St. John
A name that I really liked but could never get past was Imogene. I feel that because it's spelled I, M, O. Like what G, E, N, E. But I think Imogene sounds really pretty.
Colleen
No, you're so right.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Like, I just find that so interesting.
Colleen
It looks a little clunky. No, I hate how it looks, the letter combos. But it's such a cool name. I do.
Liz
Grayson, Our sister. Grayson was gonna be Phoebe. That was one of my mom's favorite names. My dad didn't like. He did not. He's kind of like Kelly. He's not a great speller. He, like, could not conceptualize the spelling of Fee because he's like, no, you can't do that.
Colleen
I do mix that up a lot. It's a tricky one. It's a great name, though.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay. I just wanted to, like. I just thought that was interesting since Liz had a name. She likes the sound. It doesn't like the spelling of. I think that's very.
Liz
Yeah, Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I mean, I agree. I. I could. I. I understand that you can't. And it's not even that I mind the spelling. I don't like how it looks.
Colleen
Yeah. I think we're in different. Like, you're talking about the visual aesthetic. Liz is talking more about, like, logistical complications. This girl would be spelling her name for people her entire life, which is a choice that you can make. People ask this all the time. Like, and some names, I think, are worth that inconvenience.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I agree. Yes.
Colleen
But I think it's. It's next level. You know, there are certain names you're always gonna have to spell. Maybe Margot could even be an example. Is there a T at the end or is there not a T at the end? Is it the X? Or whatever? And then there are some names that you're gonna have to say and spell repeatedly.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And there's some names. So there's some names where, like, you'll have to give the Starbucks barista a different name. Like, people ask me. I spell my name all the time.
Colleen
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But it's like. Okay, but if I say Kelly, the barista's gonna guess. Yeah, if you say, I don't even know how to pronounce this Cherchi. She's giving up.
Liz
She's gonna say.
Unnamed Beta St. John
She's gonna start saying Sarah at Starbucks.
Colleen
You actually can't use this name because her aunt wouldn't be able to say it.
Liz
It's a serious consideration, and that's why
Unnamed Beta St. John
I'm here, and that's why I know.
Liz
Okay, okay, I'm done.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I'm shutting up.
Kelly
Keep going.
Colleen
Okay. This is, like, totally different than what I was expecting from both of you, but especially Matt. Like, I think I sort of saw him as, like, a Blake, Reese, Quinn, Piper kind of guy. But, no, he wants substance.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Oh.
Liz
Like he likes. He likes Catherine. Like he likes. He likes Madeline. Like he likes. Just very, like, normal, sort of traditional names. Unless, like, Aurelia, like a Roman something in the Roman Empire. There's Aurelius or something. Unless there's, like, something cool in that realm.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Where does Maddie fall On Kelly?
Liz
Yeah, he likes.
Kelly
He's with me.
Liz
He likes it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
It's very Irish.
Liz
Yeah. Kelly.
Kelly
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Just curious. It was like you were the problem or if he was the problem on that name.
Liz
No, I would say genuinely, that's probably more me the problem.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah.
Colleen
Okay. So I did a little stalking of your family as I was waiting here to find out, like, some family names. I was looking up the Suntrap Sundrop Automotive business and the founders. So who is Bill? Is he a relative?
Liz
Yes, he is our. Our grandpa's brother.
Colleen
Okay. Do we like him?
Liz
We love him.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
He's actually still alive.
Colleen
Is he?
Liz
He's like.
Unnamed Beta St. John
He's like, 92.
Colleen
Okay. I just love looking down the Family tree for inspiration. Like, I know this is a. This will probably be too much for Maddie. I do think Billy for a girl is so cute. But you could also do Willa. Like Willa for William. Willa, St. John, Sloan, James and Willa. It's cute.
Liz
Let me write this down.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Wait.
Kelly
I like Billy.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I know Billy.
Colleen
I love Billy. I think the issue with Billie for a traditional namer is they're gonna want a full name for it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Sure.
Colleen
And that. Yeah, that's like Wilhelmina. And that might be too big for too, too bold.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Wilhelmina. I like Wilhelmina.
Colleen
It's cute. Wilhelmina. Call her Billy.
Liz
I like Willa better than Billy.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay.
Colleen
It's more girly. Yeah. Okay. And then you mentioned Catherine. Love Catherine. And your mom is Christine, but goes by Chris. And a nickname for those names would be Kit, which you've probably seen on lists. It's like sort of an up and comer. What are our feelings on Kit?
Unnamed Beta St. John
Love.
Liz
I really like kit.
Colleen
Kit St. John. Like, you just have the best last name. So automatically any name sounds good with me, that's the problem. Last name, like, oh, Imogene St. John. Obsessed.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Obsessed. Kit.
Liz
Kit is kid is really cute. I. For a long time in our naming journey, I was kind of anti. Name them something, call them a nickname. Because St. John, while it is a great last name, it is a pain.
Colleen
Yeah.
Liz
Because you go to the hotel and they're like, we don't see you. And it's like, well, did you put a period? Did you put a space? Did you combine it? Did you spell it? S A I N T. Like, there's a lot of. You have to like, jump through hoops to just like get the St. John name. So I was like, yeah, I feel like I would feel bad if they also, like, was the name under Catherine? Is it under Kit? I don't know, but I think that's something that I'm more coming to terms with that, like, whatever. That's just their cross to bear. And also, at the end of the day, this is a girl who, like, most likely St. John won't be her last name for her.
Colleen
True.
Liz
Her entire life. So maybe it will get easier for her.
Colleen
Yeah.
Liz
But I love Kit. I like the shortness, I like the sharpness.
Colleen
I like James Sloan. And Kit is.
Unnamed Beta St. John
It's very cute because right now, James and Sloane are both one syllable names.
Colleen
That's the other thing is, like, you have a opportunity here to start a theme. And I know you've talked about wanting potentially four kids. And so I Mean, I don't think if you have three one syllable names, you like have to go one syllable on the fourth. You can go two syllables. It'd be okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But it'd be insane to do like James, Sloan, Kit, Wilhelmina. You can't do that.
Colleen
That would be crazy.
Liz
Okay, I like Kit.
Colleen
And then you also have like probably accidentally done it alliteration with both their names. Like James St. John. Sloan St. John.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I didn't think about that.
Colleen
It's so good. But if you did another S name or another J name, then would you want to like complete the pattern with the fourth? I come from a cj CJ family.
Liz
So we have our boy name done.
Colleen
Okay.
Liz
So if I have a boy, it's not one syllable and it doesn't follow that. So. But we adore it. We love it. Like that one's done. If we had another girl, I would have to obviously come back to this. But I'm actually not like it doesn't bother me. But I do love Sloane St. John. I do love an S. Yeah. To follow St. John. I think it's just really pretty.
Colleen
Okay, and then what are your feelings on popularity? Like James? I think sometimes people have different parameters for boys and girls. Like people want. Tend to want boy names. And so you went top 10 for a boy and then you went a little like mainstream but less common for a girl.
Liz
I've also really had a full circle moment on coming turns with this because I thought, I think everyone wants to be more unique than we probably are. I think that when you like, it doesn't bother me that James is like the top five, like top ten name. But because it's a very normal name, it's a family name. I feel like where I would get like I use my sister in law as an example a lot because she named her son Brooks when no one was named Brooks.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
Now there's four Brooks's on his soccer team.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
So it's like when you, when you are doing a less common name but then everyone ends up having that same name. Like it doesn't bother me when it's when there's multiple James's because James is just a regular old name.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I think you're doing something, you're doing
Liz
something different then you did it. That, that kind of came through a little bit.
Colleen
Hurts.
Liz
So I think like Catherine, if, if Catherine was in or it was in the top 10 names or whatever, I would feel less weird about that versus, you know, I, I don't.
Colleen
Scotty.
Kelly
Scotty.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah.
Liz
And then it's like, everyone's name, Scotty. And it's like, oh, she thought she was doing something.
Colleen
She thought she was different.
Liz
And that's like.
Unnamed Beta St. John
That is.
Liz
There's really. There's nothing wrong with it. That's just, like, my internal dialogue. But I am kind of getting over it, like, the popularity thing. And I. I've maybe learned from you or from, like, another naming Instagram, but, like, you also have to, like, look in your state because. Just because It's a top 10 name. Yeah. In the country.
Colleen
Yeah.
Liz
Like, I looked at the top 10 names in Missouri, and they're all over the place. Like, really so different. And that's where they're going to run into kids with the same. With the same name as them when. When it matters, which is grade school. I feel like.
Colleen
Yeah. Even the state doesn't, like, tell the whole story of, like, your specific neighborhood. Like, yeah, if you sent your kids to a Catholic school, you're gonna get one cohort of names. And, like, in Rory's kindergarten, there was, like, one repeated name through the grade, and it was Cole. There were three Coles. Yeah, it's like, Like, Cole. Like, that's not even a common name. Like, it's. It is a crapshoot. So it's, like, silly to get too caught up in it. What I usually tell people is, like, does the name feel, like, special enough to you? Then you should use it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I like. I agree. I like that better than. Yeah. Than, like, someone else in their class. Like, they'll.
Kelly
Yeah, it's fine.
Colleen
Yeah, it's fine.
Kelly
You know what I mean?
Colleen
If you're hearing it a lot, then maybe it becomes tainted for you. But in your world, you're not hearing Charlotte, then, like, it might still feel like a really special name to you.
Liz
Yeah, that's so true.
Unnamed Beta St. John
That is so true.
Colleen
I love that.
Kelly

How do you feel about Amelia?
Unnamed Beta St. John
So cute.
Colleen
It's so cute.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Amelia St. John no, it is like so cute.
Liz
It's just like if I'm gonna bring up Amelia to my husband. I feel like I might as well just. No, I might as well shoot.
Colleen
Yeah, it's like, oh, but Amelia's so much more straightforward.
Liz
Yeah, it's the. Or that kind of kills me on Aurora. Yeah, I. Amelia doesn't do much for me.
Colleen
Okay, what about Lila? Is that too.
Liz
Lila's pretty.
Colleen
It's pretty. Like, it's got that short, sweet, feminine aesthetic.
Liz
James Sloan and Lila, Delilah St. John

and I always like to calling. Not that I'm trying to do your job for you, but when I was. When I was naming Libby, I also really said, like, I didn't always say all four of them together, but I liked saying Fred and Libby a lot because, like, I was always saying Georgian, Hattie, George and how to.
Kelly
George and Hattie.
Colleen
Yes.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And now I. When I was trying to name Libby, I was like. Because I wanted to name Libby Betty. We were always, we're going to call her Betty. But I was like, fred and Betty. Like, that sounds horrible
Liz
together.
Colleen
It's so true.
Unnamed Beta St. John
That's so Flintstones. Like, I can't do that.
Colleen
Oh, my God.
Liz
What if they start a podcast together and they say, welcome back to the podcast with. With Fred and Betty. Like, you never know.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But I. So I like also Elizabeth saying, like, I think you'll say, like, Sloan and the baby's name all the time together.
Colleen
Yes. So you don't want it to be a tongue twister.
Liz
Yeah, that's true.
Colleen
Sloan and Cecilia. Sloan and Cecilia. Like, that could be a little tongue twisty.
Liz
Yeah. Actually, I want to talk, like, Sloan
Unnamed Beta St. John
and Lila sound so cute together.
Liz
I want to talk to you about Cecilia because it's Cecilia St. John. Too many susses.
Colleen
Cecilia St. John.
Kelly
Okay.
Colleen
Some people, I think that's 50. 50 for me. It wouldn't stop me from using the name Cecilia St. John. Like, Cecilia in its like, itself is a lot of.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But what if they go. What if they short it to Cece? Then it's kind of a lot.
Colleen
CC St. John. I actually still think it's cute. I'm like a big alliteration person, though, so it's hard to get me, like, riled up about those things. Okay, so, okay, now that I know that you guys are like, you like the classics, I feel like a bridge here of, like, your styles is a Kelly style name. Liz Filter. So, like, vintage, but, like, short and sleek. So June or Rose. Would you do either of those chills on June?
Liz
Yeah. So June. June actually has been on. Has been on one of, like, on our, like, short list. I Do, like June. I'm trying to think about why we stopped talking about June.
Colleen
Was it an issue with the J's?
Liz
Like, I don't know if it kind of felt like a combination between James and Sloan a little bit.
Colleen
You know, I thought that with George, that it was a combination of Jane and Rory.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Sure.
Colleen
And then I was like, okay, that's crazy. Like, it's.
Liz
Yeah, no, because a combination of name that Maddie does like is Joan. I'm like, well, that is literally Jason Sloane, so we can't do Joan.
Colleen
Sloan and Joan could totally have a podcast one day, though.
Kelly
Sloan.
Liz
And actually, that's how we came to Joan, because he really liked Joan. And I was like, okay, well, that doesn't work. So maybe June. I like June. June St. John is very cute.
Unnamed Beta St. John
June's on the list.
Liz
June's on. Let me write that one down too. Yeah, that. I'm. I'm bringing that one back up.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And also listen to. You're considering, like, Christine as. Or Elizabeth as a middle name. I think it. Again, I like a short name because, again, we can't do Christine St. John. Like, I'll die. I can't even. That's way too many letters. But, like, June. Christine is cute. June Elizabeth. Yeah, it's cute.
Liz
Okay.
Colleen
Yeah, that's really cute.
Liz
I like June.
Colleen
What about Rose? Is that too, like, too plain? Like Rosie St. John? Rosie. So cute.
Unnamed Beta St. John
She's right.
Colleen
And then Rose, like, when I hear Rose on, like, a third grader at the playground, I just think it's so cool. It's so cool. It's so chic.
Liz
It is chic. You're right.
Colleen
I love it.
Liz
I haven't considered it, but I don't dislike it.
Colleen
Sleep on it.
Liz
Sleep on it.
Colleen
Okay. You mentioned Maeve. That was my. In my top two for Jamie. Maeve. Would you shorten that and just go May, which is actually a lot less common.
Liz
Is it.
Colleen
Oh, my God. Yeah.
Liz
M A E or M A Y.
Unnamed Beta St. John
M A E. Yeah, that's darling.
Colleen
It's very uncommon.
Unnamed Beta St. John
May St. John.
Colleen
Am I pushing too much vintage on you? Is it, like, too. Too simple, too plain?
Liz
Yeah, I think that might be a little bit too, like, simple for me. Like, I like that Maeve has, like, the punch to it that, like, Sloan has.
Colleen
It does.
Liz
And May doesn't. It feels unfinished to me.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay.
Liz
It's.
Colleen
It's. It's very, like, middle name.
Liz
Yeah, But.
Colleen
But I kind of like that.
Liz
I love it. Yeah.
Colleen
Okay. What about Lucy?
Liz
No, don't do anything for me.
Colleen
No. Okay.
Liz
No, I'M I'm really loving what you said. I'm really liking Kit in June. Probably, like, revisiting those the most. Yeah.
Colleen
Okay. Molly.
Liz
No.
Colleen
2. Yeah. Okay. It's like Irish. It's cute. Annie.
Liz
No.
Colleen
No. Okay. No, we're going in a. We're going in the run.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah. You're going further. Okay.
Colleen
Would you consider Sunny as the first name
Liz
for something I have. I have brought up? We've talked about Sunny. Yeah, I think we. Because I think sunny St. John is darling.
Kelly
It is.
Liz
I think we do like the thought of Sunny better for a boy, actually, as, like, a nickname for a boy than for a girl.
Colleen
Okay.
Liz
Because Sunny's kind of cool. Because Sunny can actually go either way.
Colleen
It can. And there's, like, a designated spelling for each gender, which.
Liz
Oh, is it boy and O?
Colleen
Yeah.
Liz
Okay.
Colleen
Well, I mean, you can do either, but I think if you look at the numbers, like, the O is typically boy spelling, and U is girl.
Liz
I love Sunny. I think it's super cute.
Colleen
But more boy.
Liz
But probably. Probably more boy nickname.
Colleen
Okay. Another one syllable classic. How do we feel about Grace Gracie St. John?
Liz
It doesn't. It's too.
Colleen
It just doesn't, like, too plain.
Liz
Okay.
Kelly
Yeah.
Colleen
Okay. And then going a little. Oh, go ahead.
Unnamed Beta St. John
No, that's. I. I just. I feel like it is hard to find, like, Because I know Liz likes those more masculine names, like Cameron. I think at one point you even like Spencer. Elizabeth.
Liz
Like, I don't like Spencer.
Kelly
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But, like, you like Cameron. Right? Like, so she likes the masculine names. Maddie doesn't like names that sound boyish.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
So, like, we need a mask. A masculine name that's still super girly.
Colleen
Marin.
Liz
It's kind of like Marin.
Kelly
Okay.
Colleen
Masculine, but, like, obviously a girl's name. Marin St. John. Yeah. I think that's where people love Margot because it's got this, like, it's not girly, it's not cutesy. Yeah. It's kind of crisp and clean, but it's like, obviously a girl name.
Liz
Maddie loves Margot.
Colleen
There's a Margot epidemic.
Liz
Yeah, that's my concern about it.
Colleen
But I, I. It's really cute. I know.
Liz
I know. Two baby Margos.
Unnamed Beta St. John
What are your Margot alternatives? I know you have a list.
Colleen
I do. I actually was gonna publish a list today of Margot alternatives. I do it quarterly because it really is an epidemic. Well, one of my personal favorite names, which goes against my more like classic vintage instincts, is Marlo. But it's not for everyone. Like, it's. It's more of a surname, style, I just think it's, like, the coolest name in the world. Marlo. It's. It's pretty. It is unisex, but it sounds feminine because it's got, like, the softer letters. I think Loe is, like, the cutest little nickname. I love nicknames. But I think Margot, for alternatives, you want sort of like a lot of French names. Feel like good alternatives, like Sylvie. I love Sylvie. I like Daphne, I think is a good alternative.
Liz
Daphne. Maddie. Maddie. Vetoed. Daphne. But I love Daphne. Yeah.
Colleen
Okay. I think a lot of people who like Margot, like Eloise, Vivian, Clara, these sort of, like, classic with, like, a little twist. What about just Claire or Clara?
Liz
So Claire was also. Was on our list early, and I just. We just kind of stopped talking about it. But I do like Claire.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah, maybe you start talking about it again.
Liz
Yeah, no, this is bringing up, like, some. A lot of the names that, like, we. We had talked about Kit, we talked about June, we talked about Claire, and then they just. We just kind of stopped talking about them. I don't know why. For no.
Kelly
Re.
Liz
For no reason. So I do feel like maybe I need to. We need to, like, revisit some of these again now that we've kind of gone through.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yeah.
Colleen
Yeah, A lot. Some of the really classic names, it's like either you love it or you don't because it's a name you've heard a lot and you either have a connection to it, like, or it just doesn't do it for you. You've known so many, and it's just, like, you don't get excited about it. Do you think it's possible to get Matt on board with any more, like, unisex names, like the Logan's and the Andes of the world?
Kelly
No.
Colleen
No, I don't.
Liz
I don't. Yeah, that's okay. Especially, I mean, if I felt super, like, passionate about one. Yes. But I just like. If I was like, Cameron's kind of cute, and he was like, yeah, I kind of like Cameron, I. Then we could, like, talk about it, and then we could both fall in love with it. But it's not like I don't have that. That intense love for the name like I have had for Sloan. So I'm not passionate enough to, like, push it.
Colleen
Okay, what about a compromise where it's like a classic name with a more like, kind of cool nickname or vice versa. So, like, Eleanor, Caller, Lenny, something like that?
Liz
Yeah, I think he would. I. I think he would be on board for something.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Like, he's on board for yeah, he would consider a nickname name.
Liz
Okay. Yeah.
Colleen
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Well,
Liz
I think you've given her a
Unnamed Beta St. John
lot to think about.
Liz
Yeah, we have lots. We have lots to talk about, so this was so helpful. Thank you.
Colleen
I'm glad.
Liz
It's just nice to talk it through with some. With someone and to hear someone else say the names out loud other than me and my husband.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
So I'm always willing to do that, Elizabeth.
Liz
I know, but I just, like, wanted a professional.
Unnamed Beta St. John
So.
Liz
Colleen, if someone wanted to switch to the cars. Kelly, if someone wanted to book a consultation with you. What? How could they do that?
Colleen
Go to my website. You can click book a consultation, fill out a form, and we'll get going.
Unnamed Beta St. John
The fact that you asked them 15 questions prior, and when I do car consultations, I ask four.
Colleen
Yeah, I could maybe. I could maybe, you know, trim it down a little. Because the thing is, most.
Unnamed Beta St. John
But names are so personal. Honestly, more personal than cars.
Colleen
No, that's true.
Liz
True.
Colleen
There's so much to consider. And most people answer it, you know, in a efficient fashion, respectful fashion. And then every once in a while, I get someone who sends me a multi tab Excel spreadsheet.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Sure. Wow.
Colleen
But then I'm like, I asked for it.
Liz
Party name. Sienna St. John. Problem is, Sienna is one of the four minivans out there.
Colleen
Oh, my God, it would be so on the nose.
Unnamed Beta St. John
And it's not our favorite either, is the problem.
Colleen
That's even worse.
Liz
Not the best minivan.
Colleen
See that one? It surprises me that Matt goes for that. Is it because it's like a place in Italy, so it feels like historically rooted? Because Sienna to me feels more modern place. Namey.
Liz
It's not his favorite, but it's one that I like. And so therefore he's tolerating it. Okay, but it's not his favorite. But he has an outright vetoed it.
Colleen
Okay, wait, what about Stella?
Unnamed Beta St. John
Stella?
Liz
I don't know.
Colleen
I think I'm, like, getting too caught up in the S's. They're so like Stella St. John.
Liz
It's.
Kelly
It's so good.
Colleen
It just goes so well. Oh, what about Camille for like, French names?
Unnamed Beta St. John
Love.
Liz
Oh, you know what? I love Camille. I brought that up to him. He vetoed it. I don't remember why.
Colleen
Like, that would be a good compromise. Like instead of Cameron. More boyish. Camille.
Liz
But I know.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Maybe you should bring Camille up again. Elizabeth.
Liz
I like Camille.
Colleen
It's really pretty. Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay.
Colleen
And then. Okay, one more Irish name.
Kelly
Okay.
Unnamed Beta St. John
She's.
Liz
Okay, let's go.
Colleen
Fiona.
Liz
Maddie likes Fiona, but I don't know if I can get past the ogre. Oh my God.
Colleen
Really?
Liz
Liz? Come on, Maddie. So like 2005, Maddie has brought Fiona up multiple times.
Unnamed Beta St. John
They've stopped Fiona sound. Sloan and Fiona sound so good together.
Colleen
Sloan and Fiona.
Liz
No, you need to. I need to do some inward reflection.
Colleen
You do. There's also a girl at my son's school and they call her fio. But even Fia I think is like such a cute. She'd be Fiona. I just, I like to think. I like to think through the nicknames.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Also Fiona's a good character in Shrek.
Liz
She's still an ogre. And it's just like when you're. When you're probably gonna have a six foot tall daughter, it's like, do you name her after the most famous ogre out there? Like things you have to consider.
Unnamed Beta St. John
No.
Colleen
When you're named, naming a potential tall girl, you do have to think about it.
Unnamed Beta St. John
I've lost sleep thinking about Libby and if she's going to be too tall to be a Libby. But. But Libby, you know what now. But when she's 6ft tall, I don't know.
Colleen
I think that's where like I might like Betty would be harder. I think Libby feels like very wearable.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Betty would have been harder.
Colleen
It would have been harder.
Unnamed Beta St. John
You got to be a little.
Liz
She would have quite literally outgrown it.
Colleen
Yeah.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Okay. Colleen, after a long, long day of naming Bebes, you still got cook for your three little kiddos. What are you making?
Colleen
Okay, a lot of times it's a throw together meal. We, we do tacos a lot. But I want a meal that I can easily level down for my picky eaters because only one of my kids is going to eat what I make most of the time. So half bake harvest has this like white pesto lasagna. It's really good. Look it up. And then you can very easily just. Just boil an extra pot of noodles and put just pesto on it for the picky eaters. And then the grown ups get to eat something delicious. It's got pepperonis on it. It's like. Yeah, it's a white sheet can lasagna.
Unnamed Beta St. John
It's really good.
Liz
Had me at half baked harvest.
Kelly
Okay.
Liz
Who look it up.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Yum, yum, yum. Okay. Okay.
Liz
Well, Colleen, thank you so much for doing this naming911.
Colleen
It was great chatting. I want to be the first to know what this baby's name is.
Unnamed Beta St. John
Well, Colleen, as do I.
Kelly
To be fair.
Colleen
I will be looking forward to the DM and I can actually just relay the news to Kelly if you need me to.
Liz
Perfect. Yeah, I'll just include you guys both on a group text, like, perfect.
Unnamed Beta St. John
All right, Kelly, thank you so much.
Liz
Thank you.
