Welcome to the carpool podcast with Kelly.
B
And there's just some days where it's like, I wish someone in this house would give a rip, that I browned the butter and, like, you know, julienned the basil and, like, did things like that. Just, like, want someone to care.
A
And, Liz, let's put up our Christmas decorations later. And then we're not like, January 8th doesn't roll around. We're like, get these freaking Christmas decorations down your mom. Time off starts.
B
Welcome back to the carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz. And Liz has a hat headphone combo going on. Headphones over the hat. Tell us what's going on here.
A
Is the only way. I mean, I couldn't wear them under my hat.
B
Yeah, you had, like, little buds in, like, you have. I'm saying you have a full. You have a full head.
A
Oh, I'm a podcaster.
B
Yeah. Where's my headphones? Still don't have them. Would love to hear myself talk.
A
Well, I did something crazy this weekend, and I chopped my hair. I went bob. I went lob. I went long bob.
B
Long bob.
A
And I'm obsessed with it. But here's the thing. After you get a haircut, especially a dramatic one, like I did, it's always scary showering after they've, like, done the perfect blowout. And I think you owe it to yourself to let your hair dry naturally. Like, I couldn't throw my air wrap on it. Like, I had to see kind of what I'm working with in the world.
B
You need to get a base level.
A
Totally. And so that's what I did. And I'll be honest. It's not great unstyled. My hair wasn't, but it wasn't. I always threw it up at a bun, so, like, I'm trying to wear it down. So I put a hat on, and, like, with a hat, it's really cute. Like, let me show you. Let me show you.
B
She just took her hat off. It's giving. Found me father.
A
Yeah, yeah. No, I have hat hair. It's not great. But now I put the hat on, and.
B
It'S kind of cute. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Now it's good.
A
And now I put the headphones on.
B
So I'm gonna be honest about something. You should go shorter.
A
I don't know, because I.
B
You don't know? I think you're so cute. I feel like if you went a little shorter, it would be even cuter.
A
I don't know. We'll see. I asked my hair stylist. I was like, is Everyone coming in and getting bobs, because that's what's Are bobs all over your Instagram.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay, so like, it's bob, bob, bob girl fall.
B
Yeah, we're bobbing. We're broaching. Yeah.
A
Like, we're bobbing, we're broaching. Yeah. And so I was like, is everyone doing it? And she's like, yeah, they are. And I try to talk people into doing the lobby just to kind of like get their feet wet because you can always go shorter, but you can't, you know. She's like, so I know some girls are going to come back asking me for extensions in a few weeks.
B
Well, that sounds like it'd be good for business. Yeah.
A
But she does, she did say that this is her favorite haircut. The lob is her favorite haircut because it looks really good on a lot of people. So just, if you're considering, just like, go for it.
B
I have it. I've dabbled in the lob before. Like, truthfully, I think after Fred was born and after Hattie was born, I went and I did a chop. You know, I just did, I did, I did what moms do and I chopped it. And at the time I was like, oh, it's fine. It's cute. Now when I look back at photos and videos from that time. No, hate it, hate it. I like make my hair too light. I let them cut my hair too short. I am a brown headed long haired girl and that's just all I need to be.
A
You're also like, crazy. I do. This is the craziest thing I think about you and that is that you can have like long hair and never put it up. Like you can be like neck deep in a dirty diaper. And like, you didn't, you didn't put your hair up. Like your hair is down. Like you can do anything with your hair down.
B
It doesn't bother me to keep my hair down. And not that I don't know why. I don't, I just don't. I actually like how I look with my hair up. I can just never execute it very well. And like, I love to figure out like the half up, half down. Like those girls who can just like take a clip and like throw it up. Like, do you follow? Kate ate small things. I think that's her handle. No, she's like queen of the half up, half down. Like, literally, like, it's what she like went viral and is what she's known for is like her hairstyles. And I am so jealous of her. She's just like this. She's like, hold on, let me just throw my hair back every single time.
A
Yeah, no, that's something that I'm really wanting to try and master with this lob. Because I hate that I always put my hair on top of my head. Like, it's so annoying. But, like, I can. I'm not like you. I have to have it out of my face, but I. I want it up. So I actually just ordered some clips off Amazon. Like, I'm kind of trying to figure out what my clip game is gonna look like.
B
Totally. Totally. But speak. It's so funny that you're wearing that hat because. Speaking of hat, where'd you get that hat?
A
Oh, my gosh. I got this hat at Merrick's Art's anthropology launch party. It was so much fun. It was amazing.
B
It was so. If you missed last episode, Elizabeth and I went to Merrick. Ericksart is her Instagram handle. She's huge. She's got 1.2 million followers. Like, you don't. We don't need to tell you who she is. You know her, and she's an amazing fashion creator. And she's doing a collab with Anthropologie. That comes out. That came out yesterday. No, today. Well, I thought this was launching Wednesday now, Liz. It's new schedule.
A
I'm so thrown off. You're right. It launches. This has come out on Wednesday. It launched it yesterday.
B
Yesterday. And she threw a party for it, and it was the best event I've ever been to.
A
It was so cool. Here's what I loved about it. It was, like, at her house, so. Which was just, like, really nice and, like, in cozy, you know, and intimate. But she had, like, her collection set up, and then she had an accessory bar where you. You got, like, some items from her collection and then, like, a couple of other, like, anthro items. And so I got this hat with a bear on it that I'm wearing right now.
B
It's super cute, super fun party. I mean, anything. Butternut squash ravioli was on the menu. And, like, those are three of my favorite words put together. Yeah, I need to get my butt to a Trader Joe's and get some seasonal raviolis. It's been too long since I've had. I just. I want all of them. I want. I want the sage. I want the. And, like, the thing about raviolis is it's not something I would really make for my family for dinner because George doesn't eat cheese. And, like, Tyler would Just, like, freak out if I didn't serve her protein. But, like, it is what I need for my girl dinners.
A
Your girl lunch?
B
My girl lunches. Or like, oh, yeah, the kids are eating muskos. Like, you know, sometimes Tyler also. He's so crazy. Sometimes Tyler will just, like, eat a thing of, like, deer sausage. Like, that's what he wants for dinner. And I'm like, okay. Like, I'm so, like, on the days, I just can't, and I should just, like, take it as, like, a thank you. You're not asking me to cook you dinner. I don't know why it annoys me, honestly. But there's just times where it's like, the kids are having muskos. Tyler wants to eat his deer sausage. Like, doesn't want to touch what I'm attempting to cook. And, like, I should have a butternut squash ravioli on deck.
A
Yeah.
B
And I'm just gonna work on that, for sure.
A
No, Maddie's the same way. He, like, is so fine with just having, like, a bowl of ground beef with cheese and hot sauce. And at first I was like, okay, but I can also, like, make you. Like, I. I can cook. Like, you know I can cook, right? And then I'll, like, one day I'll just be like, I'm over it. Here's some ground beef. And he's like, this is the best meal. Like, okay, great.
B
You're like. You're pissed.
A
You're like, yeah, I know. It's like, what, you didn't want to eat my delicata squash? That was delicious.
B
I know. I know.
A
But that's okay. You know what? It actually doesn't annoy me anymore because it makes my life easier, but.
B
Well, I know. And we need to take the w. But, like, I am looking forward to the days where, like, my kids want to, like, some of my kids. I don't even care which ones. I just. The thing is, my husband's not a foodie.
A
Yeah.
B
My husband's not a foodie. Your husband's not a foodie?
A
No.
B
And there's just some days where it's like, I wish someone in this house would give a rip that I browned the butter and, like, you know, julienned the basil and, like, did things like that. Just, like, want someone to care.
A
I know.
B
And so I'm hoping one of my kids, like, will be that person with me. At this rate, it might be Libby, because she's honestly, my best. She's my best eater right now.
A
Yeah, totally. So I. I feel that that's why I, like, haven't made chili yet. I want to make chili, but, like, Maddie doesn't eat onions. James is so picky. So I'm like, who am I gonna make chili for? Me.
B
I know. I made a big. I. Mike, I made a big pot of chili last night, which is what.
A
I saw your chili and all I wanted was to just like be there and eat it.
B
Well, do you want me to bring you some after this podcast? I have so much. Let me just. Let me just bring you one serving of it.
A
Bring me one serving. That would be great.
B
One little serving of my chili.
A
But it doesn't have to be a little serving though. Like, it can be like a healthy serving.
B
Yeah, no, I've got the perfect container. I'll send you with some chili.
A
Oh, thank you.
B
And you can get your chili facts.
A
Perfect because I have ground beef in the fridge. So I'll just give that to Maddie for dinner tonight and I'll eat that.
B
Perfect. So anyway, yes, I did. I had such a great weekend. Such a fall filled weekend. Unfortunately for us, like, it's still 81 degrees. Like, I'm sick of it. Yeah, I'm sick of it. And I'm so worried we're just going to have that fall where it's like 81, 32 and you're like, oh, wait, where's. I want it to be 50. I just want it to be 50.
A
My fear is that we are going to get the 50, but it's going to be 50 on Christmas and then it's going to be snowing in April. And here's my petition. I'm like, should we just move Christmas if it's going to. If the seasons are going to be so jacked up that now, like December is not cold and it's only ever snowing, like in the early year. I'm like, that's. I only want snow on Christmas if it's not Christmas. I'm not interested in snow.
B
Wow, you just like threw like, you're throwing a lot on the table right now.
A
I think it's all one cohesive thought, but I'll allow you to answer.
B
Well, one, I think you're kind of centering yourself in Christmas because, like, there's different climates all across the country. It does snow for some people on Christmas. So I think that's like a consideration.
A
Okay.
B
And two, I think we just need to look at winter for what it is. And we need to. This is why we shouldn't be rushing into things.
A
Sure. Let's not rush into Christmas. So let's put up our Christmas decorations later. And then we. We're not like, January 8th doesn't roll around. We're like, get these freaking Christmas decorations down. Like, let's enjoy them when it's cold. Maybe it's just, like, Christmas vibes. Like, I don't want to enjoy the Christmas vibes when it's hot.
B
I think you just. I think, like, my big goal is, like, I'm just trying to cultivate, like, seasonal vibes. Like, this weekend. Like, I tried to cultivate a fall vibe. I thought to myself, I didn't do this in September. I didn't even do this. Like, I waited until October like a proper fall girl, to cultivate the weekend that I had. Apparently, I should have waited longer because the weather didn't cooperate. And I think I'll do the same thing with winter. I'm just gonna wait longer to cultivate those vibes. And I'm really gonna. I'm really gonna, like, dive headfirst into all things winter and what that means and see now.
A
And I feel like you just said so many words that didn't actually add up to anything.
B
We're both giving word salad, and I want to get back to my weekend for a second, because this is.
A
Okay. Okay. What was your weekend?
B
The only thing about us is we're not gonna solve. We're not going to solve this problem. Certainly on this podcast.
A
No.
B
Anyway, so my weekend consisted of trying to cultivate fall vibes. First of all, I've tried to seek out an apple cider donut. Didn't find that. Landed on, like, a cinnamon sugar, which was good, but I'm still looking for that cake. Apple cider donut. Still trying to find that. Everyone in St. Louis is like, eckerds. It's like, okay, I'm not gonna drive an hour for it. I'm looking. I'm looking around my local places for anything apple cider donut related. Haven't found it yet. Made a chili, watched the Lions game. Yeah, chili was a 10 out of 10 situation. It was my first chili of the season. Everyone was excited. Actually, all my kids ate it, so shout out to my chili. I zhuzhed it up, right. I grated cheddar myself. Nothing out of the bag over here. I got the old cheese block out. Got the old shredder done. Melts way better if you do it that way. That's just a fact. Sour cream, jalapenos, Ritz crackers. Elite combination.
A
Yeah, sounds so good.
B
Crispy Diet Coke. Put Libby down early. Sat on my white couch with my bowl of chili, which was risky, but, like, it was worth it. Yeah. Turned on the Lions game. Wow. Now that. I know. That sounds amazing. That whole vibe lasted about five minutes.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, but the point was, I worked all day. Oh. And I had to have a clean house because I'm a psycho. So I had a clean house. I had my kids in my bed watching a movie, Libby asleep, sat on the couch with a bowl of chili.
A
Wow.
B
Lions did lose to the Chiefs, which was really sad.
A
That hurts.
B
That hurt. That hurt. But, you know, we're gonna. We're gonna win some. We're gonna lose some.
A
Kel, I can really. It really sounds like you're back.
B
Oh, yeah. And I'm so sorry. I'm so back. You know, I'm so back. I'm behind is what I am. Because I had to go. Go off and have a mental breakdown for the last eight days. Like, who has the time?
A
Yeah. No, I know.
B
Now I'm behind.
A
I know. For real. Well, I'm so happy. I'm so happy that you're back and you're back to cultivating vibes and things like you do.
B
Totally. So another really big thing, and that's the. That's the crazy thing about me. It's like, once I was back, I was so back. Um. Cause another big thing I did this weekend to kind of get ready for the fall and the winter months is I went crazy on my toy organization, reorganizing, purging situation. Okay. Because the thing is, it's like, you guys know this. Like, in my hosting era, like, I. We have. We have a great house to have other families over. So, like, we're having people over now. This summer, it's been fine because it's like, we're out in the pool, the kids are outside, but as we're looking down the barrel of some colder months and, like, more kids inside my house and my kids inside my house, I. I simply cannot. Like, I was getting to the point where it's like, I didn't want to have people over because, like, they were going to trash my basement, and it was going to take me hours to pick up all the toys in my basement. Because the problem with my toy situation was there's so many little pieces and there's so many toys. We all run into this.
A
Yeah.
B
I want to be able to pick up my entire basement worth of toys in 10 minutes.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, that's just something that's important. Me and Georgia, Hattie and Fred should be able to clean up the entire basement in 10 minutes, not 40. And I'm like, not being dramatic. Like the amount of play food pieces that we had, the amount of hot Wheels that we had, it was, it was overtaking it.
A
Yeah.
B
So I made everyone go downstairs and I got three bins out. Love a bin. I said this is what we're getting. This is what we're giving to little boys and girls. Like, this is what we're donating. Fill this one. This is what we're going to take to the farm or to Gigi Papa's house. Because that's the other thing. Like sometimes your toys don't have to like, you don't have to get rid of them forever. Sometimes it's like they'll just be better served at a different location. Whether that be a grandparents house. Like even maybe just now they're outside toys. Like now I'm tired of them. Let's take them outside. And then one that we're just gonna put in storage for a while. Those are the three bins. Now I didn't really, I like kind of asked them, but also I just kind of took control of the situation. I knew what we were done. They helped me with the, with the goodwill bin and then I did the other two bins. Like what I'm getting rid of. And I really did try to be mindful about like keeping certain things together. I used to be more of just like a kind of a chaotic toy rotator. It's like I'm just picking up the first couple of things I see. I am trying to like keep things together. So like we're going to have the Fisher Price toys, We're going to have the paw patrol toys. We're going to have the cow in the truck and the tractor toys. And I, I. So right now we have Fisher Price out, paw patrols away. The play food absolutely. Just gone. I don't know what the deal is with this play food. I bought play food off Facebook Marketplace and it is, the kids do love it. Like, it is fun but like it is the bane of my existence. It's so many pieces. So I kind of, I think my new thing going forward with the play food is going to be like, if we want to like play in the play kitchen with the play food, like that's a great activity for us to do as a family. Sunday afternoon in January, literally. I'm not keeping it out.
A
No, I, I had the exact thought. I. Because I have play food all over the place too. I got a bin out and I'm putting all my play food in the bin and I'm putting that bin downstairs and we will pull it. I' my toy road, my toy vibes is like I'm pulling bins out. So it's like, okay, now we're gonna play with the toy. The, the, the toy food. And then once that activity is done, I'm putting it away. It doesn't need to stay out.
B
It doesn't need to stay out. And I'm just also being like. The way I look at toys is. I'm really looking at like, okay, how is this actually gonna get played with? Because, like, it's so. I mean, there are so many cool toys and like, cool packaging that's out there. But, like, you have to think about how that's gonna work in your home. So for example, I'm starting to look for like Christmas presents a little bit. Just like, you know, just, just, just dabbling. And Fred loves monster trucks. Loves. So I was like on Amazon and it was like, there's so many cool, like monster jam sets. And I'm like, no, like, I know we think it's cool, but this track is not gonna make it at my house. Like, it's just not. I think it'd be better. I'm. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to get him like some monster trucks, but I'm not getting the track with 100 pieces. We can build a track with magna tiles or with blocks or you can do it with on the flipping ground on the nugget.
A
Like, yeah, on the nugget.
B
Or take it outside with the rocks. Like, like this. Having this track here is not really going to translate into anything. So I'm just.
A
The track can only be used then with the monster trucks. Usually, like, you can never really put multiple car. Like if you have different brands of cars, they don't always go on the same track. Like, you are better off building your own track.
B
And so I just think that's also. Yeah, that that's good for the creativity and whatever. They're not going to miss it. So I'm just really trying to think about as I like bring new things in, you know, what is, what is playing with it look like. And I'm just not scared to be a revolving door also, like when it's time to. And that's why I just think like the Purgatory bin is like such a good way to do it because you're not getting rid of it, but you're putting it away. And then let's give it 30 days. Are we asking for it? No, we're not. Like, bye, see ya.
A
Here's what I want to know, and this is a good question for the carpool Facebook group. Obviously hate toys that have a lot of pieces. What toys with pieces are worth it, though? Because my Melissa and Doug ice cream set.
B
Worth it.
A
Worth it. Multiple pieces, worth it. Those somehow don't get that lost or they're easy to put away. Like, I don't know why that one. But like a Melissa and Doug pancake set, no shot. Like, I'm not bringing that into my home. Like the sandwich. One pizza sandwich. No way. The ice cream set, it works. So I just like, I want to know what. What is worth it and why is it? And if you. I guess, why is it worth it? And maybe if you don't know. But just like what. I think we can all agree it's worth it.
B
Yeah, no, that one's totally worth it. I mean, the Paw Patrol, I can't say enough things about it. I think it does come down to size. And like, I love that. That Paw Patrol tower and those Paw Patrol toys, they have served me so well. Like, I'm telling you, I will keep those for my grandchildren. Those toys, I think they're so fun.
A
Yeah. I think what's nice about that and the Melissa and Doug thing is that they all the pieces have a spot to put. So it's like the, like that you.
B
Can like, store it in there.
A
That can store and easily go away. They don't just, like, throw in. So I don't know. I'm a huge fan of both of those toys.
B
Totally. For sure. So that was kind of my weekend. Like, it was a lot of cleaning, a lot of toy rotating, a lot of chilling and some football. And now I'm ready to. To get into the week.
A
Okay. Today's episode is brought to you by Clean Simple Eats. Clean Simple Eats products are a staple in my household. I love the clear soda, the clear protein soda, the energy drinks, and the protein powders. All their protein powders are delicious. I would highly recommend really any of them. But if you want to try, I would get the variety pack just so you can try all of the different flavors and all. The protein powder is always grass fed with no seed oils or artificial ingredients. It's third party tested, non GMO and gluten free, and each serving has 20 grams of protein. Their protein powder is incredibly creamy and smooth. It doesn't have that chalky texture found in most protein powders, which we all know how important it is to get enough protein in every day and Clean Simple Eats is the most delicious and best way to do so. I like to use the vanilla protein powder in my smoothies or in my oatmeal. I will also use their clear protein after a workout or if I am craving something more creamy, I'll use like a chocolate or peanut butter chocolate with milk as my after workout protein drink as well. So if you want to try Clean Simple Eats for yourself, you can visit cleansimpleats.com and use code CARPOOL10 at checkout for for 10% off your order. That's cleansimpleats.com code CARPOOL10 for 10% off your order. The link is also in the show notes. Today's episode is brought to you by Sundays for Dogs. I'm very excited. Sundays is sending me some dog food for my dogs and I'm very intrigued by this dog food. Now I have tried the non kibble version of dog food before and it was just like the refrigeration process, the freezing it, the making it. I just, I really didn't enjoy any aspect of that. But what's cool about Sundays for Dogs is that it is air dried dog food made from whole food and clean ingredients. So unlike the other fresh dog food, Sundays does not require refrigeration or preparation because of the air drying process. You just pour it and serve. That's it. So I'm really excited to get it and try it and see how the dogs like it because it's 100 all natural meat and superfoods and with 0% synthetic nutrients or artificial ingredients. I love this idea. So make the switch to Sundays. Go right now to Sundays for dogs.com carpool and get 40 off your first order. Or you can use code carpool at checkout. That's 40 off your first order at Sundays for dogs.com carpool. Sundays for dogs.com carpool or use code carpool at checkout. Oh, and we have, we have an exciting week. We are going on a trip.
B
Yeah. By the time you're listening to this, Elizabeth and I may be on a road trip. So who knows what the road trip will bring. We may write another rap song. You just never know.
A
You never know. I think we may have learned our lesson with that.
B
I hope not though.
A
Yeah. So Kelly and I are speaking at the Women Lead Change conference in Des Moines. We're driving and the way that Kelly and I are so excited to drive 5 hours just so we don't have to go to the airport and get on a plane. What. What is up with that?
B
I think. No, I don't think that's gonna be everyone's experience. I think St. Louis airport sucks. Yeah, I think it sucks. I think there's nothing fun about it. From the parking to the terminal to, like, the restaurants that are available. Like, there's just nothing. It's not a good experience for anyone. I really just think our airport sucks because when I go to other airports, like, sometimes I don't mind going and waiting at the airport. St. Louis Airport. I want to spend as little time as possible. The problem is it's such. You don't know. You just have no idea what you're getting. Like, sometimes. Sometimes you could, like, be in the security line for so long for no reason.
A
Yeah, that's so true. So, anyway, we are driving. We're really excited. We are just, like, speakers.
B
Yeah. So this is, like, a huge conference. Like, huge for women leading change. And they told us on our call that we were the first podcasters they've ever had. Oh, they're like. You know, normally it's like, doctors, lawyers, like, businesswomen. Like, yeah, but, like, you're our first, like, podcasters, and we're like, oh, so not. Oh, but, like, it's giving. It's just giving pressure.
A
It's giving pressure. She also said that there's gonna be, like, what, like, a thousand people there.
B
Yeah. Biggest group I've ever spoken to.
A
Biggest group I've spoken to as well.
B
Never spoken to a thousand people in person. It is Fireside Chat because, like, one thing about me, you won't catch me doing it. Like, a scripted speech. Like, absolutely not. Like, ask me a question. Ask me a question, and I will answer it. But, like, do not. Like, I could never give a speech. Never. Yeah, I'm so bad at that. And, yeah, we're really. We're really excited about it.
A
Yeah, it'll be a good time. I'm looking forward to it, kind of. I'm also really nervous, but I'm gonna stay positive.
B
Well, and what's really exciting is I was like. I was like, oh. Like, we are. Like, we are podcasters. Like, we forget that sometimes.
A
Well, I told Maddie about it, and he's like, oh, are you guys gonna be funny? And I'm like, we didn't even think about the fact that we should probably spit some jokes out.
B
Oh, well, I'm normally pretty funny in my. In my speeches. I've got, like, my go to. Like, I've got, like, my go to jokes. Like, yeah, like, I have my go to jokes.
A
Yeah.
B
For like, how do you start the Carmel? Like, you know, I've got my zingers that I say in there.
A
Yeah.
B
So I don't know.
A
I don't have the zingers.
B
Well, it's time to get zinging. But I was just, like. I was just, like, looking at the podcast charts because I'm like, are we, like, podcasters?
A
Like, yeah.
B
If I think about, like, my career, it's like, where do I put, like, podcaster in it? You know? And then I was, like, checking the charts and like, so we're in the leisure category, which I think is a fair category for us, because we're not business. And I really wouldn't consider us comedy. Like.
A
Oh, I would not consider as comedy at all.
B
No. Like, I think we're the epitome of, like, what a leisure podcast is. Like, this is for leisure. Leisure, lean.
A
And. And the automotive category falls under leisure.
B
And thank you. And automotive falls under leisure. So, like, we're in the right category. We're currently ranked number three on the leisure podcast, and our episode is currently ranked number one.
A
What?
B
Yes.
A
Oh, my gosh.
B
So first of all, I'm not sure how, like, the two don't correlate more like, why are we just number one if our episode's number one? Not sure. But also to say is like, thank you, guys. Thank you for listening.
A
Yeah.
B
And getting us on the charts, because that's very exciting. Can you see where we're at in auto? Are we number one in auto?
A
Oh, let me see. It takes me a minute to get there.
B
Okay, well, you pull that up. You know, we still have one of the Duck Dynasty guys, though. He's holding number two steady, so that's just still so crazy. But we're coming for him. And then the other one is like a. I don't even know what it is. It's like a fantasy S podcast, and I feel like they just have a lot of people listening. But it is exciting to be number three. We used to be, like, number seven. So we're definitely climbing the charts. And Elizabeth.
A
Sorry. It takes. All right. It takes, like, so. Okay, wait, wait. I found it. Leisure. Okay. Top shows. Oh, we fell down. Oh, that's because we haven't released a podcast. I mean, I don't know, Kelly. This is gonna take me forever to find. I can't find it.
B
Okay. Don't stress. But anyway.
A
Oh, wait.
B
If you're gone. Okay.
A
Automotive. And we popular shows. Oh, we're number two. Who's number One Full throttle talk is ahead of us.
B
We're number two.
A
So we're number two.
B
Like that's so fun. Do you realize how fun that is to be like. And it's not me, it's all of us. Like we hold the number two on Apple podcast. We're the number two automotive podcast and we're a couple of moms talking about toy rotation. So it might actually be a good idea to get into the industry news segment of this episode for sure because it actually is Juice, juice, juice today.
A
Okay.
B
And we are going to start with the breakingest of breaking news. And that is a nasty recall from Toyota which I know you guys don't like to hear you Toyota stands. But here's the thing about Toyota. I'm sorry, they're not, they're. They have a. Sometimes they get problematic recalls and people just like to forget and people just like to say it's only like Hyundai and Kia who have these recalls, which is not true. Toyota is not a stranger to recalls. Remember when the Grand Highlander just like couldn't be sold for like nine months because of an airbag issue. Listen to this one. Toyota recalls certain model year 2025 Toyota Sienna models. I don't know why models was in the headline twice. This is big though. Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 25 Siennas. Approximately 55,000 vehicles are revolved in this. Are involved in this recall for the U.S. the subject vehicles contain second row seats that are mounted on a seat rails that may have been improperly welded. If these seats are occupied during certain high speed collisions, the seat may lose structural integrity increasing the risk of an injury. So again that's, this is a recall on second row seats.
A
That's bad.
B
So now it says all known owners of, of the vehicles will be notified to their. To return their vehicles to a, to, to, to a Toyota dealer. The dealer will replace the second row seat rails with rails that have proper welding free of charge. So that came out in October. That, that was, this came out October 7th. But then this is what they sent to their owners or this is what they sent to the dealers. I got this from intel because one thing on me is I've got Intel.
A
Okay.
B
Remedy. This is like an internal thing from like I said, two dealers. So it's on a stop sale. So dealers aren't allowed to sell these 25 model year Siennas. Toyota, right now there's not a remedy available. Toyota is currently preparing the remedy. When the remedy is available, Toyota dealers will have, will probably be around Like December at the earliest. For now, they are saying Toyota recommends that customers of the vehicles ensure that no one sits in the second row or use a child restraint in any of the second row seats while the vehicle is in motion as described in this recall. If this recommendation is not feasible for the customer's personal or business needs, a loaner vehicle or alternative transportation can be arranged through Toyota at A$42 per day per diem. So if you have. So what you need to do is if you bought a 25 Sienna. I'm getting mixed reviews on if it's some of them or if it's all of them, because some things I'm reading are saying it's all of them. First step is you take your VIN number. You need to go to NHTSA's website and you to type it in. If you have this recall, you need to stop letting anyone ride in the second row. And I would not tell you to take. I would. If I thought there was more gray error, I would tell you. But like, that's not, that's not okay.
A
That's crazy.
B
It's crazy. So it's not. I mean, it's not to say that it never happens. Like, it's fine, but. No, no, sure.
A
Like, recalls happen all the time. We talk about this, but this is a bad one.
B
It's a bad one.
A
And like, they don't have a. Doesn't sound like they have a remedy.
B
I think they do. They know what they need to do. It's just like, like getting that infrastructure set in place to do it.
A
So do they not. Are they saying that they won't be able to fix people's cars until December?
B
Oh, yeah. I would say so.
A
I would say that's crazy.
B
I would say that's a realistic timeline because the, this original thing said that they weren't even gonna send out letters to everyone until December. My issue with a recall like this is like when Toyota is telling you not to ride in the second row. Like, why? I think it's crazy how many times I talk about recalls like this and people telling me, oh, if you wouldn't have told me I did, I wouldn't have known. And then like, you buy a car seat on Amazon. So, like, recently I, you know, I buy a ton of car seats on Amazon. And whenever there's a recall, Amazon Borderline does too good of a job of letting people know because then they send an email. If you go to your recent orders, it says, alert, one of your items has been recalled. And honestly, the recalls are nothing Burgers. Like, they're not. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're nothing. They're not nothing burgers. But Amazon's like, hey, your seat might not be safe. You need to check. And, like, whatever. It doesn't matter. But Amazon's doing a better job telling me my car key is not safe than Toyota is or that any of the manufacturers are. Like, how you like. It should be a text alert. It should be a text alert at this case. Like, the vehicle is not. The second row is not safe. It's a flipping minivan.
A
Yeah, for if. If you need to use the. What was the terminology? Like, if you need to use it for your daily drive. It's like, why else would they buy a minivan if not to use the second row daily?
B
So if you can move your kids to the third row, like, you can do that. But if not, you need to contact your dealership and you need to get a rental car.
A
That's sucks.
B
Well, and see, that's why we're the number two automotive podcast, though, because Full Throttle is not bringing this.
A
I don't know. I've never listened to them. Maybe they are. I'm not gonna stop them. Wow.
B
Okay. Next story is just, like, something I didn't, like, really know existed, which I don't know why I didn't know this existed. But I also. I have finished the Summer I Turned Pretty, and overall, it was fine. Like, I can't say I would recommend someone else watching it. Like, I. I'm not gonna say I'm mad that I watched it, but if someone was like, oh, what's a great show? I would not say that show. It would not come out of my lips. I just felt like.
A
I just think it's a good show. I think it's well made. I think it's entertaining. I liked it.
B
I found the characters really frustrating, so maybe they're just not for me. I also then was at the mall yesterday for an unrelated reason, and that's just like homecoming season. And I'm telling you, there were so many moms with little Jeremiahs and Conrad's walking around, and I could just spot them. Like, I can't imagine. I can't imagine watching that show as a mom of a teen. And maybe they're not, but like, oh, my gosh.
A
No, I think that teens. I think it's, like, for teens.
B
The show's for teens.
A
Like, yeah, isn't it? I don't know.
B
I wouldn't let my teen watch that show.
A
Like, Older teens.
B
I know, I know. Maybe I would. I don't know.
A
I don't know.
B
I'm trying to decide if I can, like, let my kids watch PG movies right now. Like, it's just. Anyway, the back to industry news. So did you know that Paris has an auto show?
A
No, but I guess that makes sense.
B
No, it totally makes sense. The Paris auto show runs October 12th through the 18th and promises an even stronger lineup of brands. Among brands represented will be Tesla, BMW, two French brands that I'm not really sure how to pronounce. Ford and Kia. I just got me thinking, like, maybe we should go to Paris for the auto show.
A
I mean, I'm sure that like, a lot of countries have auto shows. Like, we could just go.
B
It's giving write off. Yeah, it's giving me. It's giving business and travel.
A
It is giving business and travel.
B
So I'm not saying, like, we're in our Paris auto show era at the.
A
No, but like, I do think we could be one of these days.
B
I'm just saying, like, that's just a good thing to keep in our back pockets.
A
No, for sure.
B
Let's go to the Paris. Like, what if we went to the Paris auto show?
A
Just like, what if?
B
What if? And now that I feel like. Well, I think one really good thing about AI is how much easier, like translations are going to be because did you see that there was this new, like, Apple update? They had these Apple, like the new AirPods can like translate to different languages.
A
That's crazy.
B
I know.
A
So someone could be, what, like they have to call, have a phone call.
B
Then for in person conversations, when one person is wearing the compatible AirPods, the other person can use the translate app on the iPhone to show or speak the translation. But if both people have the AirPods, it's a more seamless experience. The translated speech can be played directly into each person's ear privately with ambient sound briefly reduced.
A
That's crazy.
B
So I'm just saying, like, I do feel like. Because my biggest anxiety about traveling to a different country is like, that I can't speak the language.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, that would just be really stressful in my opinion.
A
Yeah.
B
But I'm just saying, like, it's coming.
A
That's super interesting.
B
I know what that means for the translators.
A
AI might be coming for their job.
B
Might be. Okay. Next story is the 10 best selling EVS of 2025 so far. So that was interesting because now that the federal EV tax credit is gone, but we. They saw huge sales recently in Q3 before that was going. So I thought, let's just go through the top 10 most sold EVS.
A
Okay, okay.
B
Number 10, Chevy Blazer, 20,000 units sold. Okay.
A
Okay.
B
Number nine, Tesla Cyber Truck. 22,000 units sold.
A
Okay.
B
That's crazy that there's 22,000 people who would buy that car.
A
That's like my 10 car garage. I'd have a cybertruck.
B
It's such a. It's not for me. I don't know though. I didn't hate it when it came. I think the problem is they just became like, almost too attainable. You know what I mean? Like, it should be like a Lamborghini or like it should be like a Lamborghini.
A
Yeah, I get that.
B
There should be like 3,000 sold. Like, 22 is like, so, like regular.
A
Yeah, I get that.
B
I mean, we sold more cybertrucks than Chevy Blazers. Like, what?
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
Okay. Number eight, Volkswagen ID4. Surprised me. 22,000 units sold. Number seven, F150 Lightning. 23,000 units sold. Number six, Honda Prologue, which we actually like the prologue. People don't know this about us, but we saw it at the New York Auto Show. Fit three across. Okay. Check.
A
Yeah.
B
And it's a Honda, which people love. Check.
A
Yeah.
B
And it looks good. The only thing we don't like is, like, the font on the back looks weird.
A
Yeah.
B
Number five is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 at 41,000 units sold. Number four is the Ford Mustang Mach E, 41,000 units sold. Number three is the Chevy Equinox EV at 52,000 units. Good for Chevy. Number two is the Tesla Model 3 at 130,000. So the Equinox was number three at 52,000.
A
Yeah.
B
Number two is 130,000.
A
Are the next. Are the next. Are the top three, all Teslas.
B
The top two are Teslas. And number one is the Tesla Model Y at 200. 232,000 units sold.
A
Yeah.
B
So interesting. Interesting.
A
Okay, you know what that reminds me of? Just talking about EVs and, like, dream garages. The craziest thing. And this is just kind of like. Do you follow? Oh, hey, Sam's club.
B
No.
A
Okay, well, she's this influencer who, like, talks about what's being sold at Sam's club. Her house burnt down, which is the craziest thing.
B
Yeah.
A
Like her entire house up in flames. Knocking it down. Living, like, in a temporary housing. Like, had to have clothes donated to her. Like, they have. They lost everything. Anyway, she just was, like, able to say what caused it because they have to, like, you know, Police reports and fire, like whatever. It took a while. Her. Her son has a dirt bike that like plugs into the wall and it like spontaneously like sparked. And then she has you know, like propane and like a lot of flammable stuff in her garage, as most people do, and it caused her entire house to burn down. Moment. I saw that. I have like one of those little like plug in electric cars for my kids. Ran down and unplugged it. So scary. So anyway, just feels like a PSA just reminded me of like electrical stuff.
B
Yeah, I think you're probably safe to plug your car back in.
A
No, no, no. I don't know. It was like from Amazon. It's like made in like China. Like, I'm not saying like, I don't think it's like a, you know, I'm not saying it's like an ev. I'm just saying it's like, you know. Yeah, it was just. Yeah.
B
That is so scary.
A
So just like the craziest thing, like you don't realize that that happens that people's houses just like burned down.
B
Totally.
A
So anyway, if you're interested. Oh hey, Sam's club. She does make really good content.
B
Okay, well that was industry news kind of all over the place.
A
Yeah, well, I think, I think we were doing pretty well and then I kind of derailed it there for a second. But I'm gonna bring it home because I have a very good ditch the drive thru that I'm really excited about. So now it's time for ditch the drive through where we give you an easy dinner recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner.
B
Dinner Ruth.
A
So I had, when I was living at my parents house, every day to work I would come to my house and I didn't have a kitchen I had. So I was just doordashing all the time, like keeping doordash afloat and something that I would, I would doordash myself breakfast all the time. My favorite thing to doordash was this like breakfast burrito is this steak breakfast burrito with like peppers and a fabulous sauce and onions and eggs and it was just so good and I've been missing it, but I like can't. I have no reason to doordash it. So we had some leftover steak the other night from dinner and I made myself freezer burritos which I've never done, but it was delicious. And you know, it was like up front some work, but now I was able to just go heat one up. So here's how I Made it. I took my leftover steak and I let the steak like it had been like two or three days old where like, okay, it's. We're not to the point where we're going to just like eat this for the third day in a row. So it's like, it's a very good, like, get rid of your. Your protein that, like, your family doesn't want to keep eating leftovers of. So I put my peppers and onions in the pan and my steak and then I scrambled some eggs and then I laid out foil and then parchment paper, and then I assembled the. Just put them in a tortilla and like a burrito sized tortilla. A burrito tortilla is. You have to have a burrito tortilla size.
B
You have to have. And see, it took me a long time to even know those existed.
A
Yeah, me too. Like, I can't like the car balance, like taco or taco tortilla is not gonna work. Like, you need a little bit extra because you want to roll it up and you do want to wait for the ins, like the filling to cool before you put it in the burrito. Because then if you put in the freezer can, like create ice crystals or be soggy or whatever.
B
Oh, you learned things.
A
Yeah, I know I'm learning things. So then I wrapped them up, put them in the freezer, unwrapped them entirely. I probably didn't need to do the parchment paper too. I'm kind of like, learning as I go. Could have maybe just done the foil, but the parchment paper felt like another, like, nice defense against the freezer. So I still kind of need to figure out my thawing process. I do think if I want to have one the next day, I could stand to, like, put in the fridge overnight. So I'm not then, like, putting in the microwave or the air fryer from frozen. And I did have to do a little bit of trial and error on like, a little bit in the microwave, a little bit in the air fryer, and then we eventually got there. I didn't put any sauce in it. I like added my sauce after the fact, but it was excellent. And I quite literally ditched the drive through on this one. I know it's breakfast, but sometimes breakfast I have the hardest time with. I'm most inclined to be like, oh, I'll just go get something from the coffee shop, because I also want a coffee.
B
Totally. And like, breakfast, like, is cheaper at the end of the day, so it feels like it's. Oh, it's like fine. Like I'm just. But then it's not because then you get a coffee and a burrito and you're 15, 15, 16, 17 into this thing.
A
Oh, for sure. So yeah, and it was delicious. And I'm like just so excited. So I already have already so much leftover taco meat from the other night because I made way too much. And you know, I'm going to make burritos with that for Maddie with taco meat and eggs and cheese. Done.
B
He's gonna love it. I always say I'm gonna get around to doing that. I do agree. It feels so intimidating because it's like you have to wrap it and then you somehow have to heat it up.
A
I'm gonna work on it. Cause I, I still have two left. So today was not a fail by any means. Like I still got it there, but I just, I need a better thawing process. So I'll keep you posted.
B
Okay, that'd be great. That would be great.
A
Okay. Well, now it is time for Blake's Besties where we share stories during the month of October, which is infant and pregnancy loss awareness month. And we are going to be reading stories from our followers who lost their babies too soon. Okay. This comes from Alicia. In March 2020, I got pregnant with our third baby. At the time we had a 4 year old boy and an 18 month girl. We were so excited. Welcome one more baby to our family. Throughout all the fear and uncertainty in summer of 2020, we had our own secret of joy. For Christmas we get we were getting a new baby. However, at my 20 week anatomy scan, we learned that our baby was not growing well. Ultimately, he was diagnosed the genetic condition the doctors described as not compatible with life. On September 11, at 28 weeks pregnant, we lost our baby boy, Teddy Michael. Every year we celebrate Teddy's birthday by making him a cake and singing to him and his siblings. Blow out his candles and make a wish. Just over one year after we lost te, we welcomed our rainbow baby, Teddy's little brother in October of 2021. Now our family truly is complete. With three children here with us and one angel watching over us. And then she shared this quote that means so much to her. An angel opened the book of life, wrote down my baby's birth, then whispered as she closed the book. Too beautiful for earth. I know, I know.
B
Oh my gosh.
A
I know.
B
Oh my gosh.
A
I know. I think like I just like as I'm reading these and obviously I've never experienced it but like you just like the the loss of your child is so obviously horrible. And then it's also like, just all the talking and all the plans that you've made and like, oh, we're gonna have a Christmas baby and they're gonna be this many months apart, and it's gonna be this and that. Like, you also just like, have to mourn, like, the plans as well as their life. And it's just.
B
Yeah, I know.
A
Obviously, really hard, but okay.
B
This one comes from Ashley. Hi, ladies. I've been a carpool listener from the beginning. Every October, I look forward to hearing and remembering the babies that were taking us from us far too soon. I found out I was pregnant and expecting my first baby on February 27th. My husband and our families were so ecstatic. I craved sour candy and suckers. On July 10, I unknowingly went into preterm labor at home. The next day, on July 11, our sweet boy Wyatt was born. Sleeping at almost 23 weeks gestation, he had huge hands and feet and apparently my nose. It has been the most grueling and unfair last few months. His nursery was complete, and I had already sent out my baby shower invitations. I had just started a brand new job three days earlier that would allow me to be home more once he had arrived. Although he's not here with us on Earth, I take comfort in knowing he's with Jesus and all the other babies whose parents are missing them on Earth. Thank you for discussing on the pod. Even though it isn't glamorous, my heart is so full knowing others are thinking of Wyatt. Thanks for all you do.
A
Yeah, it's like. That's exactly what I'm saying. Like, the nursery, the invitations, like, you make plans.
B
Yeah, it's a really. It's a. And that's why I think it just has to just take so much time and so much and so much to process. And that's why it's like. That's why it's, like, not fair. I'm not saying people do this, but, like, when you're comparing, it's like, oh, well, you know, I can only imagine some of the horrible things some of these women have heard. Like, well, at least you weren't very far along. Or like, at least you already had.
A
Like, just like, horrible things.
B
And like, the point is, it's like you're also. You. You have to sit and mourn and process all the plan. I mean, we just. We just have so many plans for our children, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
And it's got to be like, I. I think it's got to also be so hard to think, like, when you know other kids who should be your kids.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
B
You know, like I'm like thinking, you know, it's like Hattie's got a big like 5th birthday coming up and like one of our cousins lost her baby around the same time I was pregnant with Hattie and Hattie was born and like, her daughter should be fine.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
B
You know, and it's just like, that's so. That's gotta be so. And like, of course you're like, so happy for like your family and your friends and their kids, but like, like, it's just a reminder of like, what your kid's not. And so I can see how. I could just also see how like, it's the thing where it's like there's just going to be random events that are going to be really triggering towards it, you know?
A
Yeah, totally. Okay, I have one more. This comes from Carly. Hi, Kelly and Liz. First of all, I wanted to say how special it is that you take time on your platform to honor these babies gone too soon. I'm a mom of two myself and my first positive pregnancy pregnancy test ever turned into an early loss that left a hole in my heart that luckily my daughter and son helped to fill. I am a labor and delivery nurse and while most people think our jobs are fun and happy, which it mostly is, we have when we have a bad day, it's a really bad day. I just wanted to write to give perspective from the nurse who hopefully add some comfort to any of those who have gone through delivery of a baby born sleeping or too soon. We remember each and every one of you. We remember your faces, although maybe not your names. We remember your babies, the photos we took, the baths we gave, the baptisms and name blessings we are a part of, the prayers we pray with you and the tears we cry together. I will never forget this. I will never forget the silence of the room when I supported my first lost patient through her delivery of her full term sleeping baby. The silence was broken by my tears and my patient's tears and I just held her while we cried. Lean on your nursing staff while you're in the hospital. We want to support you and while we might not feel prepared for any decisions you will have to make, we will do everything we can to make sure you go home with as many memories as possible and as much peace as you can. We love you, we support you, we pray for you and it's honorable lifetime to care for your family during this.
B
Time oh, my gosh.
A
I'm, like, almost done. I did not think this was gonna hit me this hard. It's rare to witness a real angel earth sign. It's even better when we see you again for their birthday party. For the birthday party of your rainbow baby. Like, I read. I read these. I read these before. I read them out loud, too. I just think that, like, I wanted to share that one because I wanted to share it from the perspective of an L D. L D nurse. Because, like, we do this segment during October, and that's it. Like, they do this all the time. And, like, we're always trying to figure out the best way to, like, speak on this, and we don't always feel totally prepared. Like, prepared to. Just because it is, like, so heavy and so important and whatever. We don't want to say the wrong thing. So I just, like, wanted to share that from.
B
Yeah.
A
And I. I. Obviously, this woman doesn't speak for all L D nurses, but I'm gonna say she probably speaks for a lot of them.
B
Yeah. And, like, I hear, like, of course we don't want to say the wrong thing, but I also, like, would rather risk saying the wrong thing that. Than not saying anything, you know? And that's why I also, like, that's why this has been, like, such an interesting thing for Liz and I to navig last three. This is the third year we've done this. I think so.
A
Yeah, I think so.
B
The last three years. Because I. I am uncomfortable with it, and I don't like that about myself, if I'm being honest. Like, I don't, like. I don't like that. I don't know how to, like, talk and support to so much of our audience about something. Like, you know, especially when I was. When. When we were just in, like, our pregnancy and having baby stages. Like, I don't like how uncomfortable I was. And, like, that's what. That. That's one of the reasons we wanted to do it. So. Yeah, I would also just say, like, I would give you guys all the challenge. Like, if you do know somebody who's going. Who has gone through this, even it hasn't been yourself, like, don't be scared. I mean, don't say something stupid, but, like, don't be scared. Just be like, hey, I'm thinking of you. Like, you know, or. And again, like, I've never. I've. I now do this with a lot of people. I've never met a mom who doesn't like that I say the baby's name.
A
Yeah.
B
When I talk about them, like, in. Super, super casually. And, like, I was just talking to Sam from Mama Knows Car Seat, who works on our team a lot, and I was talking to her the other day about Kylie.
A
Yeah.

The car for everyone sat.
In this candid and lively episode, sisters Kelly Stumpe and Lizz St. John, third-generation auto-industry experts, bring their trademark blend of millennial mom relatability, car chat, and everyday life musings. They recap recent events (from a dramatic new haircut to attending an influencer’s launch party), discuss toy clutter and toy rotation strategies, and dive into the latest in the auto industry—including a serious Toyota recall and surprising electric vehicle sales rankings. The episode concludes with a deeply moving segment for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, sharing stories from listeners and a powerful perspective from a labor and delivery nurse. As always, listeners get a "Ditch the Drive-Thru" meal idea and an honest take on all things mom-life, cars, and sisterhood.
