Welcome to the carpool podcast with Kelly.
B
This could be like the most, like, cocky thing I ever say in my life, but I really don't think if I won the lottery, it would change me. Of course. Like, there'd be signs. Like there would be signs.
A
And Liz, should we consider bringing back moon lodges? The red tent menstruation huts? Your mom.
B
Time off starts now. Welcome back to the carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz. And I'm shaking like a leaf because I'm recording at the farm today. I'll tell you why in a second. And I look out the window and there is a huge coyote.
A
Yeah, this is our second time starting this recording because she goes, holy beep. That's a huge coyote.
B
I'm looking out the window. Huge coyote. I thought it was a wolf, which I'm not sure. First of all, I'm not sure it wasn't. I mean, I know, like, wolves aren't really in Missouri, but are you sure? Because look at the video I just sent you.
A
Yeah, no, I mean, it's definitely a coyote, but it's a. That's a dog. That's a full size dog right there.
B
That was so spooky.
A
So spooky. You never really see them at this time of day.
B
You never really see them in general. I just feel like, you know, it's just not something that really comes across my desk or my window for that matter. But anyway, I'm at the farm today because Tyler's grandma, who I've spoken about before, Isla Fay is her name. Hattie's named after Hattie Faye, one of my favorite people in this, in the world that I've ever met. And she does four year old preschool. So like a couple times a month she takes all her four year old great grandchildren who are between, who are like in preschool but not in kindergarten yet. And she does preschool with them. There was five there today. I mean, the woman has 55 great grandchildren and she's like. So she's keeping five four year olds at her house and they're making grape jelly.
A
Wow.
B
I mean, I could never, like, I could not.
A
I could never.
B
I could never.
A
On my best day, I could never let alone be. And how old is she?
B
How old is she?
A
Beginner, 90s.
B
She's. No, she's not 90 yet.
A
Okay.
B
She's not 90 yet. But she's. I think she's 89. I think she's 89.
A
Oh, yeah, she's. It's incredible.
B
It's unbelievable.
A
And she volunteers for this and she's.
B
Like, you know, I will have breakfast, I will be frying eggs and bacon for breakfast, and then we will do lunch. And she's like, you know, I have a curriculum. Cause she used to be like a preschool teacher. So. Yeah. And there she goes. Bring jelly jars if you would like grape jelly. And I said, I will be there. So anyway, the farm is closer to where she lives. So I'm at our parents farm recording a podcast. Ye hence coyote.
A
So that's like, what a day.
B
What a day. Second things very exciting about the state of Missouri. We have a Powerball winner.
A
I know. Aren't you just like kicking yourself? Like, dang, I should have bought.
B
No, we bought. Tyler bought tickets. And I just texted him and I said, did you check your number? And he hasn't responded to me.
A
Oh, actually, I don't know how the Powerball works. Do you pick a number? Do they just give you a random one?
B
I think you can do either. You can just let the machine pick or you can pick Tyler. I actually really respect that about Tyler. He will always, when it gets high, when people start buzzing, he buys tickets, which it's so good. You know me, I always want to be a part of something, so I.
A
Should be a part of something.
B
I genuinely can say with my whole heart, I've never bought a lottery ticket in my life. I wouldn't even know. I'd feel like an idiot. I'd be like, can I have a power? Do I just say, do I? Can I have a Powerball ticket?
A
Yeah, I have no idea.
B
So anyway, I'm waiting to see if he's gonna text me back. I. I mean, I don't assume we're winners, but I don't.
A
But at this moment, I can't rule it out. You could be what, millionaires?
B
Billionaires? No, actually, I think two people split.
A
It's.
B
Yeah. To be one. So like 800, 000 errors and this could be like the most like cocky thing I ever say in my life. But I really don't think if I won the lottery, it would change me.
A
I don't think it would change you either.
B
I really think so. I just think I could handle it. I think it would not change. I really think, of course, like there'd be signs. Like there would be signs.
A
Kids might be still be sharing rooms, but Kelly would definitely get a new Louis Vuitton. Wouldn't change your kids sleeping quarters, but might change your bag.
B
Oh my gosh, can you imagine? No, the signs would be, I would definitely get a new car. I have Multiple cars is really what it would be. And I would say for the name of science, but I have a new passion project of mine. I would really like to one day. Like, I'm always dreaming, but I'd love to get a car for each year that my kids was born and, like, keep it in perfect condition and then pass it down to them.
A
You know, some people just, like, do that with a bottle of wine.
B
Oh, that's a good idea. You know what? That's a way more way to do that. Maybe I'll consider that. But I'm saying if I. If I am Powerball winners, my plan is. Okay, I'm going. First of all, my plan is I would buy some of the land next to our house.
A
Okay.
B
I would build a garage.
A
You need a garage?
B
I need a garage. I'd build a garage. A sensible one. Like, I'm talking maybe like a 10 car garage.
A
Just like a tent. Yeah, that feels sensible. Yeah.
B
And then I would fill it with all of the cars that I want.
A
Up to 10. Well, and you've got.
B
Well, Tyler, go is four of those.
A
Will have to be reserved for your children's cars.
B
Okay. Does this. Like I said, tyler, did you check your Powerball tickets? There's a Missouri winner. And he goes, not yet. Did someone win? I said, yes, in Missouri.
A
He goes, oh, my gosh. Oh. So they don't know who the winner is in Missouri.
B
I don't think it's been claimed yet. So, like, this is what happens. So, like, they can see. They can say that a winning ticket was sold in Missouri and Texas.
A
Okay. Okay. I feel like someone had claimed it at that point.
B
No, like, the machines just know I'm saying I can be a Powerball winner.
A
Okay. So it's not ruled out. Okay. So. So we do need to be logistically thinking about this 10gar.
B
Garage.
A
Like, this is. This is at the moment, potentially so anyway.
B
But all to say is there will be signs. But I just think I'd be a really good Powerball winner.
A
I think you'd be a great Powerball winner.
B
Anyway. I think you'd be a good one too. But you know those shows that, like, ever. You know those shows that, like, the lottery ruined my life.
A
Yeah, yeah. But I think. I think you'd be a good one because I actually think Tyler is very good at keeping you guys. Like, he is a budget. Tyler has a budget.
B
Tyler does this thing. It's like, honestly, like, really triggering. And every month he makes me go through every transaction. Yeah, I would hate that he Goes, I don't care. He goes, I don't care. And he's very nice about it. He's like, but this is what you spent on coffee shops last month. And I'm like. He's like, I just want you to know where you're at. And I'm like, this feels toxic.
A
Yeah. Yeah. I don't think I need to. Yeah.
B
No. So every month, we go through every transaction.
A
Yeah.
B
It's really fun. Love that for me.
A
Love that for you. Well, the Lions had a tough loss.
B
This weekend, so that's the next thing. So that's kind of where. So, first of all, I love being a Lions fan. I love being a football fan. And I want to make a retraction. Football is exciting to watch. And I'm sorry that I slandered. I'm sorry that I slandered football. I don't know. You know me, sometimes I'm just saying things that Nancy. And it was like, I don't know, like, I shouldn't have said that. Football is fun to watch. I was wrong. I hadn't watched it in so long. And yes, I normally don't watch the game with. With a. With a team in mind, but I.
A
You've got to be cheering for someone.
B
You've got to be cheering for someone. So two things. First of all, like, I just love the hustle and bustle of having a team. And even Tyler, like, don't let him fool you. He did not. He did not watch a second of the game, but he has really taken on, like, that. We're Lions fans as a family, and we went to a fall festival and there was, like, a girl with a Lion shirt on. And he's like, hey, we got a big game today. And I'm like, like, look at you.
A
Like, you just part of something.
B
Now we're just a part of something. And now this girl and I are like. Like, now we're all like, we're Lions fans.
A
Yeah.
B
So I think he has an. I think he enjoyed being part of something. I enjoyed, like, I gotta get a game day shirt. Cause I have a sweatshirt. But it was too hot for that. And now that we have. Now that. Anyway, I need to get a shirt that I can wear so people can say, oh, are you a Lions fan? Like, that's just maybe like a hat too. Yeah, that's just like, interactions that I want to have on game days.
A
Well, it's so funny because I'm connected to Kelly's calendar, which, first of all, would totally recommend being connected to your Sister's calendar and. Or also her email. Because, like, I saw that you just placed a big little sleepies order, and I'm like, what do you have me said? You order, like, so Kelly's. Kelly's email is connected to my phone, so I can see all of her emails come through. It's for business. But then I see the personal ones, too. And anyway, I'm looking at her calendar, and she's gonna go. She's going to Detroit in a few weeks. And on her calendar it says Lions game. And I'm like, oh, my God, it's Lions versus Ravens. I'm like, oh, are you going to the Lions game? And she was, no, I was looking to the schedule, and there was a button to add all the calendar. She added all the Lions games to her calendar.
B
I'm committing it. First of all, I'm committing to the bet. So, yeah, I'm googling when's the next game? Because I just want to know because I had so much fun watching the first one. And then easily it said, do you want to add these to your calendar? And I said, well, that's innovation that excites. Of course I want to add these to my calendar. So now they're all added anyway, as far as. Let me just, like, go back to the game for a second. So first of all, if you. It is so fun to have something on in the background. And I had the most, and I mean this with my whole heart, the most productive Sunday of my life because the game was on. So, like, if I wanted to look at something, if I wanted simulation, like, I would look at the game. I wouldn't look at my phone, but I was running around my house. I was folding laundry. I was on the dishwasher. I was reorganizing the kids shoes. Like, I was all over the place. I had the game on at three different TVs just so I could, like, always be popping in and checking the score.
A
Like, just like, was so ridiculous.
B
It was so much fun. And the Lions got their butts kicked by the Packers. Now, here's what I want to say. Here's what I want to say. The packers played amazing. From what. From what I can tell, the packers played amazing. The Lions did not play amazing from what I did. Okay, because, I mean, because, I mean, they lost, but, like, you know, there's losing and then there's playing bad. The Lions, I think, played badly. And I'm watching the game and it's like fourth quarter, like five minutes left, and they start telling, like, all These streaks that the Lions are going to lose. And one of the streaks was it had been 49 games since they didn't score a touchdown. So they scored. Touchdown. No, I'm sorry. They scored a touchdown. 49 games in a row, at least one touchdown. It's the fourth quarter. They've only done two field goals. They haven't scored a single touchdown yet.
A
Wow.
B
In the last minute of the game, they score a touchdown to keep that streak. So thank goodness. Thank goodness we almost lost our football or our touchdown streak. So, anyway, it was so fun. And the next game's on the 14th. Like, edge of my seat, 12 o'. Clock. Can't wait. And I found myself yelling at the tv. You know, I'm just, like, trying to get everybody into it in my house. Like, I'm trying to be exciting, excited about it. I know. I just can't say enough good things about football and being a part of something. And Jared Goff, golf, is our quarterback, so I learned that. And I just want to say, like, if you want to be a football fan, one, like, I've never met a Lions fan who hasn't accepted me with open arms. So, like, I think the Lions were ready for anybody who wants to join. I think I can say on behalf.
A
Of the Lions, Den is plenty big.
B
But also, like, I think the first step to becoming a football fan is, like, you go on Abercrombie's website and you buy a sweatshirt and maybe just buy whatever sweatshirt you like the best. And, like, if that's reason, like, that can be your reason, it doesn't matter, because I'm telling you, like, like, what are the reason on these men? Like, like, they're picking their team either. Like, everyone's just doing whatever. Like, everyone has their own reason for how they became a fan. So, Liz, I. I wanted to say, like, either get, like, you need to be a Lions fan, or I want you to go on abroad. They want you to pick a sweatshirt, and I want you to commit to the bet.
A
Okay, that's fine. So I do. I do need a professional team. We are Notre Dame fans on the college front. So that is something that we do. And that is. That's kind of fun for me. Like, I'm kind of leaning into that a little bit. Like, the kids all have Notre Dame stuff. I need to get a new Notre Dame shirt. Like, one of my biggest goals in life is to, like, take Maddie to another. Like, he's never been to a Notre Dame game. He has been offered, but, like, things have come up or he hasn't been able to go. Like, that is, like.
B
Let me just say, like, if. That. If I am a Powerball winner, I will make that happen for the.
A
Thank you. Thank you. I do think, just, like, hearing you talk about this and just, like, knowing you and just how things happen in your life, like, Lions are going to go to the super bowl, like, Ford gm, Someone's going to, like, fly Kelly and her entire family out to go to this. You're going to be on the field. Like, you're going to be doing the flip, the coin flip. Like, something like that is going to happen to you. I do say maybe it might be a powerful winner.
B
I do get lucky like that.
A
You do get lucky. No, but you get lucky. But, like, this is this. This is the luck right here. It's like you talking about it, you getting into it. Like, you making it a thing. Like, you. You speak it into existence.
B
Right. So, anyway, I am, like, loving the Lions. Can't wait for the next game. And I am sad about our loss.
A
Yeah.
B
But I have a lot of respect for the Packers. I want to say that. Go Pack. Like, I could see. I think the packers will. And the announcers were saying, like, the packers and Lions are both, like, fighting for the Super Bowl. So, like, if the packers, like, packers are probably my second team right now. Okay. Because I just, you know, I want to have options. Like, if the packers make it, like, that'll be exciting for us, too.
A
But.
B
Go, Lions.
A
Go Lions.
B
Wow.
A
Wow. Anyway, it is week two of Clipping our podcast for video.
B
Endless options.
A
Endless options already. And I'm breaking out so bad. Look at this. I am entering my ugly era. I'm breaking out the makeup. The foundation that I've been using lately has been so good. I'm like, this is the best foundation went on, like, clown makeup today. Like, it's just. The hair's not hairy. Nothing is working for me. Anyway, I'm about to start my period. These are the signs. And I just want to say, should we consider bringing back moon lodges? The red.
B
Is that what they're called?
A
Menstruation huts? Like, we had it good. Like, hold on. Did well.
B
I think we could. I think. Here's the thing. I think the idea was there. I think the execution of the said 1400s wasn't. But I love to see a 2025 take.
A
I think there was, like, definitely, like, some oppression going on there. But I've also been doing some research on them because I had this thought this morning, and there were some moon Lodges in some cultures that were like, very empowering and spiritual. And it was like, oh, you're menstruating. Go into this hut with all the other girlies who are menstruating, which are probably your best friends, because you're all synced up and just go hang out in there for a week.
B
Well, it does feel like we were. I don't want to do less back. It was feel like we were maybe expected to do less back then because I'm expected to go about my day.
A
But that's what I'm saying. But that's what I'm saying. Like, we didn't have to. We have.
B
Yeah. I. I'd love to see a 2025 take on that. I think it's an interesting idea.
A
Like, I would love to just not be seen right now in this state and go hide out for a week. But instead I am going to be posting on social media, you know?
B
Well, and that's just of the times and that's of your occupation.
A
I know. So I'm just saying how did I get here?
B
And how do you get out? No ugly eras. Such a thing. And I'm so happy that, like, people have kind of come. Like, I feel like we're all on the same page. And again, we're not saying you're ugly. We're saying you're ugly right now.
A
No, we're not.
B
We're.
A
No. And I think it's really come out that it is totally. And we've said this. It totally has to do with your cycle because last week I was. You know, you don't. Don't talk badly about yourself. Okay, well, I was glowing. So what do you wanted me to say? Don't.
B
Don't.
A
Don't be so.
B
I'm just saying yourself.
A
I was glowing.
B
We had. We had two viral reels last week. I don't call that an accident.
A
And. Yeah, so. And now it's like, don't ask me to make a reel this week. Don't expect anything.
B
Yeah, no, it is so tough. I just like. And I'm so new to periods because I've just had so many kids in the last couple of years. So it's just like it feels like I'm doing it for the first time all over again.
A
It is so much worse after you've had kids.
B
Well, I just like, can't believe I live in a world where it's like, so one week a month. Like, my jeans don't fit. Like, okay. Like, I'm not getting enough. My price per Wear is going down at this point.
A
Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
B
That's kind of like a crazy statistic.
A
Yeah, no, it's. But that's what I'm saying. Like, yeah, bring back the Moon Lodge.
B
Yeah. Like, if, again, if I'm a Powerball winner, I'll definitely, like, fund some sort of study on ugly eras. And I'll see what we can do to approve. Maybe I'll get. Maybe we'll. Maybe I'll start a new business called Moon Lodges.
A
You are kind of like blowing through this. $800,000. I'll be honest. Between the 10 car garage funding a study.
B
Do you know how much it costs.
A
To fund a study?
B
It's not 800,000. It's 800 million, Elizabeth.
A
Oh, 800 million, Elizabeth.
B
It's 800 million I would have to spend. Should we do some math? No, let's not. No one cares. I'd have to spend a lot of money every single day. And then I'm pretty sure you just like, then it will change.
A
Oh, do I think $800 million would change you? Yeah, I do.
B
Oh, you do?
A
Yeah, I do.
B
Well, you give half the taxes immediately. So now we're down to four.
A
Oh, okay. So now it's just when and then. Okay, it's dwindling away. Your study studies cost millions to fund.
B
Wow.
A
So we'll see.
B
Well, anyway, another really big thing that happened this weekend, little Catholic news. If I. If I can share, I think now, if you're not Catholic, you. I think you'll still find this interesting. And I think it's a very interesting, like, trivia night conversation. Like, it's. It's interesting. It's news.
A
It's news. It's. It's what's going on.
B
And it's good to learn about other faiths and cultures. So listen up. This is interesting. So Catholics have saints, and saints are people who lived very holy lives. They, like, performed miracles. And then they get awarded sainthood.
A
You have to have performed miracles while you were alive and in a miracle, after your death as well.
B
And then you also have to be dead to become a saint. So anyway, the Catholic Church had a big weekend because we got our first millennial saint. Because, like, when you think saint, you think, like, martyr in the 1300s. Like, that's just like. And I mean, that's like. I'll be honest, the majority of them. So this is very exciting because this kid, the name Carlo Achidis, I think I'm saying that right. Carlo, he died at 15 and he lived in Italy. Now, listen, to his story. So he was. He. So he died in 2005. Okay, so he was born in 1991, I was born in 1993. So he died at 15 in 2005. And he's being called like God's influencer because at his, on his short time, on his short life on earth, he first of all, like, his parents were what you would call like Catholics, but not like practicing Catholics. And he was like always blowing up his mom to be like, let's go to church, let's go to church. Like, his parents like, didn't even go to church. And he always wanted to be there, which is interesting. And around the time I think he turned like 13, he built a website which, like back in 2005, like, I'll be honest, that that feels like miracle enough.
A
Like there's no squarespace, very into gaming and coding. Like, that's the type of kid he was.
B
And so it's just like so fun that we have like a saint who played video games. Like, that's like, that's just, it's all crazy. So anyway, he developed a website and he was compiling a website of all the eucharistic miracles. Now you're like, what's a Eucharistic miracle? Now the Catholics believe that the Eucharist, the communion, is the body and blood of Jesus Christ, not just a symbol. Whereas like some of the Protestant states, Protestant religions believe it's just a symbol. The Catholics are like, no, it's actually the body and blood. And throughout history there's been all of these miracles of that being proven. So like, for example, a priest will lift a host up, will lift the communion up, and then blood will appear on it. And like, you can look up eucharistic miracles, they really are fascinating to look up. And Carlo was like, I'm going to make a website that houses all of these into one place. So that's what he did. Around the age, around when he was age 15, he developed a very rare type of leukemia. And like, it progressed very quickly, very quickly. And he passed like within like maybe a month or two. Like, it was very quick. And he told his mom he was, he was his parents only child. And he told his mom, he's like, I, I'm okay. Like, I'm not, I'm not nervous. Like, I'm ready to go be with Jesus. And I will send you a sign when I, like, I will send you a sign. So a couple years later, his mom, at 46, gives birth to twins on the same day that he died. So four years later, on the day to his death, twins were born. Fast forward 15 years. So at the age that he was when he died. Fast forward 15 years, those twins attended this weekend the canonization of a brother. They've never meant sainthood. And his mother was one of only two people in history to ever have lived through their child. Canonization.
A
Yeah, I don't know.
B
I was like, I loved the history, I loved the story, and I found it very interesting.
A
No, it's. It's very interesting. The videos of, like, his mom seen her son be sanctified in the Word.
B
Sure.
A
What were his miracles, though? Okay. The miracles attributed to Saint Carlo Acutus Acutis. I don't know how you say it. Canon for his canonization. Maybe it's. Canonization is the healing of a Brazilian boy in 2013 with an annular pancreas and the healing of a Costa rican student in 2022 from a severe head injury. The healing of the boy occurred after his family prayed for Carlo's intercession and touched a relic of the then teenager. And the healing of the Costa Rican student began after the mother prayed at his tomb.
B
Yeah, so, I mean, it's not, you can say it's not easy to become a saint. And I don't know, I just thought it was interesting and exciting and it's cool because now like when they are showing his like picture and stuff, it's like so like millennial. Like, it's like we now have like a picture of a saint and like he's like 15, has like a polo in a backpack on versus like all of our other saints again. They're like medieval time vibes. This is like totally different. So. Yeah, I thought it was interesting. I thought you might find interesting. I just wanted to share.
A
I love it. Thank you for sharing.
B
You're welcome.
A
Today's episode is brought to you by Clean Simple Eats. I. I love Clean simple aids. I have something from Clean Simply. It's every single day. What am I loving right now? I love the energy drinks. I also am really into the protein soda. It's 20 grams of grass fed protein in a can, but it's different from their other protein in a can because it's kind of carbonated, which kind of gives the soda vibes. I'm really liking it. I really like all the Clean Simple Eats products because their protein powder is always grass fed. It has no seed oils or artificial ingredients. It's third party tested, non GMO gluten free, and each serving has 20 grams of protein. Now the protein powder is very creamy and smooth. It doesn't have that chalky texture that you find in other protein powders. So for that, I really love it. And I have liked, really, all the flavors I've tried. Vanilla is probably the one I use the most, just because I mix that in with, like, pancakes or things I'm baking or smoothies. I just find it to be very versatile. So if you want to try Clean Simple Eats, or if you need to re up on your Clean Simple Eats, you can Visit Clean Simple Eats.com and use code CARPOOL10 at checkout for 10% off your order. That's Clean Simple Eats.com code CARPOOL10 for 10% off your order. The link is also in the show.
B
Notes now. Oh, go ahead. No, you go ahead. Go ahead. Well, I had a base model luxury.
A
Oh, I do, too.
B
Yeah. I'm really enjoying this segment because I'm just, like, loving finding little ways to luxurify my life besides winning the Power bowl, you know?
A
Yeah. If you don't.
B
I know he's, like, not responding, so I'm assuming that means we didn't win. Okay. I also know either way, he's probably gonna try to trick me. And, like, you know, like, that's just so him.
A
Yeah. There's no shot. You won.
B
There's no shot. Well, there's a shot, but there's no shot. So, anyway, my base model luxury is. And I got this tip from the last time we went to Detroit again, go Lions. Because at the hotel, and some, like, nice hotels do this, they give you black washcloths. So, like, they have their white towels, but then they have, like, black washcloths. Like, wash your makeup off. Because who wants to, like, get a white towel all dirty?
A
Yeah.
B
So I bought a pack of black washcloths as, like, my makeup removing as, like, my face washing, taking off my makeup cloths.
A
That's a good one.
B
And it just. Well, first of all, like, it's. They're so easy to launder because it's like, oh, those are mommy's, like, black washcloths. Like, take them there, and they don't show my makeup. And, you know, I'm just like, I'm not, like, getting, like, foundation all over my gray towels, you know?
A
I mean, I've ruined so many white towels. And it's not even just the taking the makeup off. It's that you apply your makeup, and then you have to go wash your.
B
Hands, and then you have to go wash your hands. And, like, I mean, I guess you could like, you know, get into, like, bleaching or, like, I guess a lot of makeup, like, comes off in the wash. But, like, what if it doesn't?
A
They don't always doesn't always.
B
I mean, sometimes these two mascaras, like, I don't know what the repercussions of a tubing mascara is.
A
Yeah, so that's a good one.
B
That's mine. I'm just, like. I'm loving, like, a black washcloth. It's just. It makes me feel like I'm at a hotel.
A
Yeah. Okay. Sign me up on that one. Okay. Here's my base model. Luxury. So it's been kind of cold in the mornings, so it's feeling like fall. It's making me want some pumpkin spice in my coffee. But I am, like, a very serious. I like pot coffee, drip coffee, whatever you want to call it. And heavy whippy cream. So I'm not really interested in playing with new creamers. That's not my jam. Yeah, but I want that little taste. So what I do is I get flavored whipped cream.
B
Flavored with cream.
A
So you can get a pumpkin. You can get a maple. You can just get plain. Even just sometimes, like, cleaned with plain whipped cream on top of your coffee. Just kind of elevates it a little bit. And so you can do that with the pumpkin. You can do that with the. With the peppermint. When we get into Christmas season, it's just elevating your coffee with whipped cream instead of creamer. If you're not into the creamers, well.
B
It'S interesting because you're giving yourself a different flavor profile without committing to the whole cup.
A
Exactly. Because those first couple of sips are really, really good. And then it's like, okay, I had my little taste of that. Now I'm ready to get back to what I love, which is my coffee.
B
Which is your coffee. But again, the first couple sips of coffee, like, those are no exaggeration. The best parts of my day.
A
Yeah, for sure.
B
And I've really been committing to, like, because I. So I. So go. I'm like, sometimes I'm. Hot coffee, cold coffee, hot coffee, cold coffee. Like, I don't know what season of my life I'm gonna be in. I'm sure I could study it and kind of figure out what the pattern is, but at this point, I don't know what it is. But I'm on my hot coffee grind right now.
A
Another study to fund, perhaps.
B
Another study to fund. No, because there is something. One day, I'll just wake up and be like, I want iced coffee. And one day I'll wake up and be like, I want hot coffee. But it's not. It's not day by day. I do it for a couple of weeks and then I move on. So it is interesting. And the first couple sips of a hot coffee, like, it's a vibe that must be like. Like I. I seek out the perfection of that vibe.
A
It. It's bringing me joy just thinking about it.
B
And, like, do you ever get sad when you finish your coffee? Because, like, then, you know, you can't, like, have that same vibe until tomorrow.
A
Yeah. Because even if you make yourself another cup, it's not the same.
B
No. And you know what else?
A
What?
B
I started drinking some coffee in the evening.
A
Yeah.
B
And it doesn't keep me up, which is good. Which I don't know how it doesn't keep me up because the way, like, I can't wake up until I have it. So, again, another thing to study.
A
Yeah, for sure.
B
But it's just like, that's what I want these days. Like, I'm just not really drinking that much, which is so crazy. Which is like, so crazy because I feel like. Like I used to, like, love to have, like, a glass of wine or like a seltzer, and now I'm just, like, always, like, seeking out. Just like I want, like, something for me to sip on. And like, that something is a coffee.
A
Okay. Yeah. I really. I really haven't been drinking either.
B
Just, like, I need to get on. The thing is, I need to get on tea.
A
Yeah. Yeah. Well, because tea can have a lot of benefits, too. Like coffee. Coffee. I don't. Isn't, like, bad for you, but I don't think it has, like, a ton of added benefits, whereas tea definitely does. And now you have your beautiful teapot.
B
Totally.
A
So I need to learn that. Yeah.
B
Well, those were our base model luxuries. And now are you ready for industry news?
A
I am.
B
Okay, first story is by Edmunds, and it said, Mercedes bent. And this is the. This is the headline. Mercedes Benz will bless the world with a new G Class convertible. And yes, this will be coming to the US So the G Class, think G Class, think, like, G Wagon. And they're saying, basically they're saying SUV convertible. And anything that even is slightly Nissan Murano convertible coated is story enough for me. There's no picture. There's no picture yet. It's just.
A
You can see what they have looked like in the past.
B
Yeah, it's.
A
Which is darling.
B
No, here's the thing. It's a good idea because it's, it's not really a convertible. It's just giving Jeep Wrangler.
A
Yeah.
B
Ford Bronco. Like, you can remove the top, you can remove the top, remove the roof. So I think that is exciting. And I don't know, I mean, just like, I like when G Wagons, I love, I love G Wagons. I think they're so fun. Like, I don't think I'd ever own one unless I was a Powerball winner. But there's like, you can't tell me that's like not one of the best looking cars out there. This is a Mercedes G Wagon. Like, it's so iconic.
A
It's a very good looking car. And we haven't toured one since literally you started the car, mom, five years ago. But don't they have net. Netted cup holders?
B
The one we toured had netted cup holders.
A
That's unforgivable to me.
B
Yeah, you know, it's just like one of those cars that like, you just like do it. It's like high fashion. Like, you just like do it in irony. Like the car is like a Runway. It's not real life. Ready.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, which is why.
A
Great analogy.
B
Thank you. Like, there's high fashion that's like Runway ready. And like. Yeah, that's the G Wagon. So anyway, we'll see what happens. I'm excited for that.
A
Okay.
B
Okay. Speaking of $800 million, Elon Musk could become a trillionaire under Tesla's new pay package proposal. Just interesting. This says that Tesla has proposed an unprecedented. Which is like such a buzzword these days. Ever since the pandemic, everything's unprecedented.
A
Everything's been unprecedented.
B
Oh. Anyway, Tesla has proposed an unprecedented 1 trillion compensation package for CEO Elon Musk that would spend 10 years and require him to grow the company's market value to at least 8.5 trillion while expanding the robo taxi business. So first things first. This is interesting because Tesla right now is worth a trillion. It says Tesla's current market value is around 1 trillion, meaning that Musk would need to grow it more than eight fold to earn the payout. But like, there. I feel like there's so much opportunity in this robo taxi business. Like, what's the world gonna look like in eight years?
A
Yeah, if they're, if they are projecting that kind of payout. So also, like, what, what even would Elon Mus do with a trillion dollars?
B
I'm sure there's a study, there's a.
A
Study that needs to be funded. Let Us. We've got studies over here. Elon, if you're listening, we've got. We've got studies that need funding.
B
So that's that story. I don't really care about, like, the works of Tesla. I mean. Cause the thing is, it's like one thing about Tesla is they're not just the cars anymore for a lot. For a lot of reasons. But, like, you know, there's. They've got their hands in a lot.
A
Yeah.
B
As do all the billionaires have their hands in a lot.
A
They seem to be busy. Mm. They seem to be busy. You could be joining them.
B
I really wish my husband would text me back.
A
I know. How is he running to look it up?
B
Because he's probably. I'm assuming he did and we didn't win. Like, that's where I'm going to put my flag. But I promise I will tell you guys if we win.
A
Actually.
B
Actually, I probably won't. I'm right. Like, you don't tell people.
A
I have no idea.
B
Okay. Three reasons why General Motors is number two in US electric vehicle sales. Now, this is interesting to me because it's always been like the last couple of years, just like the EV trajectory has been very fascinating because it was so, like Tesla was so ahead of every other manufacturer in terms of EVs. And like, Tesla had such a market share on the evs. And it was kind of the question of, like, who's going to be giving? Like, who's going to be number two? Because, like, number two is still, like, they all kind of started around the same time. Right. And Ford was doing really well with their evs. Like, the Lightning was very popular, the Mach E was very popular. But General Motors has now kicked Ford's butt. And it says that ge GM is gaining on Tesla in the US EV market. And here are the three reasons why. This is a story from Autoblog. It was a good article. So, first of all, the thing I have to remember about GM is technically, it's. I'm not saying it's cheating, but I am saying they have Chevy, Cadillac, gmc. So like Ambux. So like, they have. It's like a four in one kind of vibe. You know what I mean? But one of the big reasons is that GM kind of prioritized cheaper EVs. So like, for example, the Equinox EV starts at 33 without incentives.
A
Yeah.
B
So that's like much lower than. Than any of Tesla's cars, which is interesting. So affordability, which is like. Yeah, like, that was what we were saying. So thanks gm for listening. GM also is doing a lot of work on, like, the scalable EV platform. So, like, we've, like, instead, like, the way that they are building the evs is different because they have a different battery system. I feel like that's enough. I don't, I don't know the minutiae, but that's enough of the reason. And now their EVs are profitable probably because of reason two and three, which is like one. Like, their platform is a little different. And they've really. I think the big thing is they are doing a lot of the foundational elements of the EVs. Like, they're, they're sourcing and they're building a lot of them because they're building them themselves. And now that they're profitable. So I actually think that GM also, just, like, from my perspective, there's a lot of diversification in their EVs. Like, and. Because there's a lot of diversification in their model. But, like, you know, we've got the Cadillac Vistic, the Cadillac Lyric, the Escalade iq, the Chevy Silverado, the Equinox. Like, there's so many.
A
Everyone.
B
There's something for everyone in the evs, and that's kind of always been. Except for a full size.
A
It's like, why have a truck and not a full size?
B
Yeah, I don't know. It does feel like. I always stand by the fact, I think, like, the manufacturers all going after, like, the trucks before the full size SUVs, like, was so interesting. Or like the minivans. Like, I feel like minivans are begging to be eevees. Begging.
A
I agree, I agree. I mean, because you don't have to put. I mean, I guess EVs are pretty. Are pretty zippy, but, like, you can have not the most traditional performance as you would have in an ice vehicle, because no one's expecting performance out of a. Out of a minivan.
B
Well, right, right.
A
Also, I just have to say I love my minivan. I love it.
B
Yeah. You're. You, like, won't stop talking about it.
A
Yeah.
B
What do you love about it? The carnival.
A
I. First of all, I feel like I'm a part of something, and maybe that's it. Like, when I see another carnival, when I see another minivan, I'm like, oh, hey, mom. Like, we're just moms be bopping around. Like, you know, I also just like, don't think that people expect as much out of me on the road, which I appreciate.
B
Okay.
A
And also, the sliding doors are amazing. I didn't realize how much stress I was carrying in my day to day life of parking and having to worry about opening a door. Like I can park best parking spot, like I can take the best parking spot. Like I don't have to look at who has, who has enough door, like door space. Like that's really, really nice. And I also just like how big the cabin feels and how wide the windshield feels. But it still feels like I'm driving a midsize suv. Like I don't feel like I made that jump to the full size SUV drive physically wise. But I do feel like I have the visibility.
B
Yeah, I think that's a good summary of it. I do think, I mean, that benefit of the sliding doors is so important because, you know, not only do you have to worry about, like, you have to be able to open up the car, the doors wide enough to get kids in and out, or a car seat in and out sometimes. So it's definitely freeing too.
A
And I just bought, you know, I'm on my consignment shop grind as I'm trying to furnish my, my home. I bought bar stools from a consignment shop and I took Maddie's truck to pick them up. But then when I got home or back to my parents house, I was like, I have to take these to our house. I'll take your truck tomorrow. But then I'm looking at them, I'm like, actually, let's just put them in the back of the minivan with the third door done. And I have, I have stuff already back there. Like big stuff. Like I have a pack and play back there because I'm about to go on a road trip and I fit my pack and play and four bar stools.
B
Yeah, no, it's. If you don't need the third row and you have the bench to have a minivan. You have a truck. You have a truck. You have a truck bed.
A
You have a covered truck bed.
B
You have a covered truck bed.
A
It's amazing. And the bench is awesome. It's so nice for these road trips we've been going on that I can sit in the third row with or in the middle seat with the kids. Be so comfortable. I mean, I just, I love it. I'm a huge, huge fan of the carnival.
B
That's so good, Liz. I'm so happy for you.
A
And a lot of people, like, don't like minivans because of the drive. And like, yes, it does not have the same pickup, but if you put it into sport mode, it has Just as fine of pickup as like a mid size SUV on their comfort mode. I will say like, sure, it's fine.
B
Sure. It's also just like, you know, I think everyone has like different thresholds and expectations for like the performance of a car and yeah, it's fine.
A
It's fine.
B
I did do like such an interesting story set on like super niche reasons why people said no to a car, you know.
A
Yeah.
B
And it was very eye opening because. And I've always felt this way and like when I do my consultations, if someone's like, I drove the Pathfinder, didn't like it, that's enough for me. Like, I don't even need you to explain. I don't, I don't even need you to like try to figure out how to explain it. I really feel like when you get in a car and you drive it, you know if it's going to be a deal breaker for you.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, and if you don't like how it drives on the test drive, I really don't believe you're ever going to like how it drives.
A
So I think you'll get used to it. I think in some instances you will get in a car and you will say, I don't like this. And it's not that you don't like it, it's that it's different than from what you're used to. And that's especially if you're going from an older vehicle to a newer vehicle that maybe has a little bit more zip and more crash prevention technology and sensors and beepers. You're like, whoa, this is too much for me. But that's just a new car.
B
Yeah, no, I think there's a level of do you not like this car or do you not like new cars? And you know, it's also like the realization of at some point you're like, I don't want any of the bells and whist. It's like, well, I don't know how to tell you. They all come with that now. So you do have to have those. Like you have to kind of have that realization. But it was very interesting just the reasons that people said no to cars. And I don't know, I'm just gonna like live in the camp where it's like, I'm just gonna respect it. I'm just gonna say, okay, that's fine, that's reason enough for me. That's reason enough for you.
A
Yeah.
B
But the most ridiculous one I got was they didn't like the color of the miles on the odometer, because they were red, and they don't like red.
A
That's crazy.
B
Well, I think there's not liking it, and I think there's deal breakers, and I do think sometimes you need to. But they said that was a deal breaker, and I felt like that was a very interesting deal breaker. But then it's just like that's their deal breaker. So, like, maybe other things, you know, wouldn't be their deal breaker.
A
Right. I would. If you ever don't like the display or something, I don't think you can maybe change that, but oftentimes you can change the displays, so just might be worth exploring.
B
Totally.
A
You know? Okay, Cole, are you ready for ditch the drive thru where we give you an easy dinner recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner rut?
B
Yep.
A
Do you have one, or am I bringing it?
B
Oh, you're bringing it.
A
Okay. Well, I just wanted to. Okay. This is kind of like a girl dinner. This is a mom dinner. Okay. It's not like kids are having chicken nuggets tonight, but something for mom. For you. Mom made this the other night. Last night, she made a St. Louis salad, which is like a grinder salad kind of. It's got the salami, it's got the artichoke hearts. Like, it's got the Italian. Like, it's so good. She's never made this before, but she went out and she, like, looked up a St. Louis salad. Got every ingredient. She got the artichoke, the canned artichoke hearts. She got the nice cheese. She got the salami. She cut it up right. Like, she did it right. It was better than I've had at any other restaurant. So I just say that to say that if there's, like, a salad that you love from a restaurant, say it's a Greek salad from Panera. Because I do love that. Do it right. Go out and buy all the ingredients. You can probably make it better at home. And you can have way more of it, too.
B
Well, and the thing is, it's like when you're making a salad, you can. Because I've done this before, too. It's like you can prep all the ingredients, then you just have to assemble at lunch.
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
My mouth is, like, watering. I really want a salad today. I have no plans for lunch. But you know what? This. The town that the farms at did just get a Wendy's.
A
Wendy's.
B
And I believe Wendy's has salads. It's really hard to find salads at fast food places. I think Wendy's has a good salad. Chick fil A. I know we're dreaming. Would never happen out here. No, that sounds really good. No, I don't have a dish to drive through. I asked my kids what they wanted for dinner tonight, and Hattie told me spaghetti, which I haven't made in a really long time. I'm really worried, you know, I'm so sentimental and, you know, I always, like, want my kids to like. Someone's posted on the carpool Facebook.
A
I saw your new micro hobby. Is it Kelly's micro hobby is finding things that her kids are gonna fight over after she's dead. Like what? That is a study we need to look at. We need to fund. Well, you're not thinking.
B
The problem is our mother was not very sentimental.
A
No.
B
And like, I can't think. I can't think of. I mean, I want. I have like a few things that I want that are moms. But like, when I tell mom, like, oh, I want that, she's like, really? You want that?
A
That's what you want?
B
That old thing?
A
And I'm like, I'm trying to compliment you. And you are. You're. You're yucking my yum, and it's your dang thing.
B
So anyway, so mom's not like that. My mother in law is like, so sentimental. Like, almost over. Not overly, but like. No, pretty sentimental. And I'm trying to find a balance in between, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
But anyway, I'm also just like, I'm really having fun. Like, design. What's the word? Like, I'm. I'm like, this is my children's childhood, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
And every child. And I think this is interesting. Every child likes their mom's spaghetti.
A
Okay. Yeah.
B
I mean, don't like, you know when, like, I don't know if this is like, so niche behavior, but like, sometimes, like, I'd go over to a friend's house and like, their mom made spaghetti and it's like, you don't like it? Yeah, like spaghetti. So, like, personal, like, you only like your mom's spaghetti? I don't have that for my kids. Like, they're missing out on, like, I need.
A
You don't have a spaghetti recipe for your kids? Straight to jail.
B
Not even, like. Yeah, but like, it's not even a recipe. It's just like, I need to just like, commit to my noodle sauce. Do I add meat seasoning combo and the guys need to do it the same time. So I'm like, hattie, we can absolutely have spaghetti tonight. And I need to start adding. I need to start making it monthly. I just. Spaghetti just isn't always something that comes across my desk. And I don't know why. I think. I think I do know why. I think because I've always had babies and, like, who wants to give spaghetti to a baby?
A
So messy.
B
So messy.
A
Although we have spaghetti a lot because it's one of the few things that James will eat. And I do think that meat sauce is the move. It's easier than meatballs. And, you know, I love a meatball, so I do just also a more guaranteed way that they're going to get the protein in. Especially James, like, doesn't eat protein.
B
Yeah. So what sauce are you using? Are you just, like a. Yeah. So basic. So basic Rao's.
A
Isn't that the. That's the one. Yeah. Rouse. Yeah. It's basic, but it's good. I like the taste of it. But you know which one I love from St. Louis, you can get it at St. Louis grocery stores. It's on the hill.
B
Oh, yeah. That's a good one.
A
So sometimes I like to mix Rouse and on the Hill because on the hill is such a specific taste profile that, like, it's kind of too much. So I will. I will do a mixture, and then I think, you know, just the most basic parmesan cheese, like Kraft. Oh, if.
B
If it's not shelf stable, I don't want it.
A
Yeah. Like, and something that mom used to give us. That stuck with me. And I started eating once I was pregnant again. It was weird. When I got pregnant with James, I would crave all the things I had as a kid. And that spaghetti. And then just untoasted white bread with butter.
B
With butter. See? And my kids have never experienced. So I'm gonna get on it. So we're gonna get butter bread.
A
Okay.
B
So we're. We're having a spaghetti night. I'm gonna commit to meat sauce. I'm just. You just ground beef.
A
Ground beef.
B
I'm saying this with my whole heart. I can't. I want to do a blind taste test of these spaghetti sauces because I buy Rao's, and it's like skipping prego. Like, I don't taste a difference at all.
A
Well, I think a taste test would be interesting then. I also think the ingredient list is probably interesting too.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, if you're into, like, ingredients.
B
And it depends on the day, to be honest with you.
A
And it totally depends on the day. But I do think a spaghetti sauce taste test is such a good idea.
B
Yeah, totally.
A
I feel like we could probably pull that off.
B
So, anyway, that's what's on my dish to drive through tonight.
A
Okay. Well, I love it.
B
Yeah.
