A
Welcome to the carpool podcast with Kelly. If the barista makes my coffee wrong and I ask them to remake it, like, I'm riddled with guilt for days. These people are stealing money from the elderly and they sleep at night. Like, what is it like to be that unbothered?
B
And Liz, my gosh, this baby's kicking me non stop.
A
I was wondering why your hands were, like, down your pants. I forgot you were pregnant for a second.
B
Yeah, I know. It's because she keeps kicking me like crazy.
A
Your mom time off starts now. Welcome back to the carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz.
B
Happy Friday, Friday of Mother's Day weekend. Happy Mother's Day to any mom who might be listening to this podcast. Not sure if we have many that,
A
like, took me a second to process what you were saying. It's like, exclusively moms.
B
It's our weekend, ladies.
A
What are your plans?
B
Well, my plans are potty training, which you think, why would you do that to yourself? It's my only free weekend I have until. Ever.
A
I cannot until July for this update.
B
Yeah, no, James is like, he, like. He, like, I can commute. When I tried the first time, I couldn't communicate with him. Like, I tried when he was, like, two and a half. Couldn't communicate with him. Now we can communicate, so I feel like we should be able to get it done. I'm just really nervous about the life after potty training because life and diapers. While it's annoying to change like a diaper, it's really convenient.
A
So convenient.
B
So I'm just nervous for the day that we're at the park and then he has to go to the potty and I've gotta, like, what? Like, you know, pack everyone. Like, pack everyone up. Go to the potty. Like, just. But I know what has to happen. I know it's part of life. So we are gonna try kind of like a loose, like, three day. Like, you're supposed to, like, stay at home for three days. But we do have a Mother's Day brunch scheduled with my mom on Sunday, so I'm trying to attend that. So we'll see how. We'll see what kind of progress we're making.
A
Okay, we'll keep us posted. Are you gonna, like, share updates or this just. Well, we just have to catch up with you next Wednesday.
B
I'm thinking. I don't know. I don't know how much I want to, like, yeah, like, we'll see how it goes. I don't know how much I want, like, in. In the moment. I'm not sure I'll be on my phone much.
A
Totally.
B
So, yeah, just. Just brunch and potty training is kind of what's on my agenda.
A
I am sad to miss our Mother's Day brunch because it's. I don't brunch many times a year. I think it's just like the two Easter and Mother's Day is kind of like when I brunch. But we. Which I am excited what I'm doing. We have Tyler's sisters baby's baptism in Tyler's the Godfather.
B
Oh, huge.
A
Yeah. So we're kind of. We're. And so we probably will have like a nice lunch or a brunch after.
B
Yeah. Stumpies.
A
Knowing the stumpies. The Stumpies do brunch. That's not true. We also have brunch on their Christmas and it is probably my favorite meal. I need to get. They have this recipe, this chocolate chip cream cheese muffin recipe that keeps me up at night. It is so good.
B
Yeah, you're hitting. That's a.
A
And then they always make. They make a strudel. They make all these like amazing quiches.
B
So. Are you partaking?
A
Oh, good question.
B
Your diet?
A
No. Oh, okay. Well, I am almost. No, I'm not. I'm like, I have five weeks left of my 12 week program and I'm doing fine. I would say I'm getting a little over it, but also mainly because, like, I'm just having really good results. So I'm like. So, like, is it over? Like, am I having good results? And can I stop? Right.
B
Yeah.
A
But I want to see it through because I've committed to the bit.
B
And you have an investment, a financial investment in it.
A
Right.
B
And a health investment in it.
A
Totally.
B
So.
A
And I'm feeling really good still. So I don't. I'm also a little. I'm happy. I'm happy with.
B
I'll be nervous to see, like, if you do have, you know, a chocolate chip cream cheese muffin, what if that would make you feel really crummy?
A
I don't think it will.
B
Okay. Because your gut is in a good place, right?
A
Yeah, my. My gut's in a good place. And like, normally if I were to have one of those, like, what. What else was in my gut prior to that? Like, now I'm so, like, I have. I will never go back to eating how I was eating. And again, not that I like, was eating too much. It was just. I just wasn't aware of how much added sugar I was eating. In a day.
B
Yeah.
A
And now I'm like, so lathered up to have, like a plain Greek yogurt and a banana and cinnamon and like, one day I'll put a drizzle of honey on it and I'll think I'll have won the lottery.
B
Yeah, sure.
A
So that's exciting.
B
Sure.
A
But anyway, so that's what we have this weekend. Last night I had my book club. Oh, my book club girls are coming over on Saturday.
B
Oh, fun. With their kids or what?
A
With their kids. Yeah. Because they all want to see the baby animals. It's really fun because they. Their kids. They each have two kids and they're like my younger kids ages, so it's like, fun for me because I feel like the majority of, like, my friends who have kids are like, more like they at least have like a Georgia or Hattie age kid. But, like, they don't. Like, I'm ahead of them. Like, they're asking me for, like, advice. Sometimes it's so crazy. I'm like, I have no idea.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyways, they're coming over on Saturday morning to see all of our baby animals. But we had book club last night. Tara, who's in our book club, put on such a spread. Like, it was so iconic. She is by far the best hostess out of the three of us. And that's a lot coming from me.
B
Yeah, yeah, whatever.
A
Me and Claire are also very good. But, like, Tara did take the cake. She made, first of all, all foods that I could eat, which was, like, beyond generous.
B
Totally.
A
And she. She was my inspo. Was the COVID of the book. Like, I tried to pull from the COVID of the book.
B
She's one of those.
A
She's one of those.
B
I love those.
A
No, she's amazing.
B
I love being friends with those because I'm not one of those.
A
And I was a little mad at her because, like I said, they're both readers. Like, they're. They're reading. I'm reading. I'm finishing the book club. Book club. Book. The day before the book club.
B
Yeah.
A
And they are reading multiple five books a month.
B
That's insane.
A
Especially Tara. So I was really nervous to bring my picks and I was so excited because I was like, I have the perfect book for us. And it's actually a book that I really want to read. It's called Yesteryear. Have you heard of this book?
B
No.
A
Okay. So Anne Hathaway just bought the rights to it.
B
Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know the synopsis kind of.
A
Yeah. It's so it's about a social media trad wife who somehow gets transported back to, like, the 1800s and has to live the life she's portraying online, but in real life. Such an interesting concept.
B
Interesting. I'm. I'm actually really curious about this because I'm curious to know if it's, like, a dig on trad wives or if it's not or if it's like a survival story. Like, I'm curious to kind of know the direction that they take with it.
A
I agree. I. I don't know much about it. I've. It's gotten good reviews. I think it's just a very interesting concept. So I was so excited, and Claire was like, yes, that's the book I was gonna choose. And Tara goes, I already read it.
B
Tara needs to slow down.
A
Well, that's what I said. I said, Tara, this was like the book. Like, this is like. This is the buzziest book club book of the moment. Like, you should have known not to read that.
B
Yeah. So you're not doing it?
A
No. So I chose to do it.
B
Sounds like Tara should just reread it.
A
No, it's fine because. It's fine because we can read it. So she's like, why don't you guys read that? Read it, and we'll do two books next month.
B
And I'm like, you're not gonna do that.
A
Well, I might. I might. Because, listen, so. Okay, so should we.
B
Should we do carpool Book club of yesterday?
A
This was. This was I was gonna bring up. So I am reading Theo of Golden for my book club.
B
Okay.
A
I think yesteryear, though. I think it's the. I have a physical copy of Theo of Golden. I'm considering getting the audiobook of yesteryear.
B
Okay. I say let's do that, and we'll do it for the podcast and we'll all listen to it together. Okay, that's fine.
A
But we have to give it an end date because we all need to be held accountable.
B
Well, I would say the end of the month, like June 5 or June 8. June 10, Because that's when the podcast comes out is June 10th on a Wednesday. Okay. Downloading.
A
That's gonna have a long time. No, that's. That's when it's a month.
B
Okay.
A
Yesteryear. So summer podcast for the carpoolers.
B
Okay. Exciting.
A
Summer book club.
B
Okay. By. By Carol Claire Burke.
A
Let me see the COVID I mean, it's like kind of like an ombre cover.
B
Yeah. Tradwife Influencer Suddenly awakens at 18:55. Okay, bye. For one credit.
A
So good. Okay.
B
Exciting.
A
So good.
B
Okay. Love that. Love that we're doing this.
A
Yeah, me too. And I just want to say, like, you should start a book club with your friends and doesn't have to be big. Mine's just two people, but we have so much fun. It feels so indulgent to, like, just talk about something else. And it's once a month we read, so, like, we're always, like, going to different places.
B
Like, it's just, you know, I also feel like a lot of the times, like, mom's break, mom's night. Like, hey, like, night off is often spent, like, grocery shopping or running errands. It's like, not actually spent, like, doing something. And so this would be, like, a good. I mean, I'm not gonna start a book club right now, but I do think that is a good, like, activity to have. Like, no, I have my book club. And when you cat, you know, sort of cash in for your break, where your husband, like, puts the kids to bed by himself, you know, you're actually going to do something that's not just running errands. It's like, a true hobby. It's a true break. It's true time.
A
No, it is so much fun. I really recommend it. And I didn't know these girls. I mean, I've known Clara for a long time, but, like, I didn't know them all that well. And now I would say we're becoming very close.
B
Okay. I love that.
A
And last night, it was fun because we, like, did our book club questions. And then Tara, the host is with the mostest, was like, okay, I have some other questions that I just want to ask you guys. And we just, like, did, like, she asked. What's one thing you're loving? What's one thing you're looking forward to? What's one way I can serve you this month? Which, like, was so nice.
B
Women build. Like, I love women doing womenly. Like, I love that.
A
Yeah. So it was just, like, a really. A really good time. So that's what I've been up to. And I just love having a book to read. I'm telling you. There's just something so powerful about that.
B
I agree. Well, I'm excited for yesterday. I'm happy to have a book to listen to because I need something to listen to. Speaking of hosting amidst the crate, like, everything else going on, I am looking towards James's third birthday and most excited. I've never been excited to plan a birthday party for my kids. I'm really excited for this Birthday party because he's, he gets it. Like I'm gonna set the dinosaurs up. They're gonna have party hats, they're gonna have balloons. Like, I didn't do any of the fun stuff for one and two, because they're not gonna remember. Three, I'm excited for. Let me tell you about this act, this activation that I'm having. And it's. This is a carpool exclusive. This is a St. Louis exclusive because it is just starting and my brother in law is like, friend started up and he told me about it and I think we'll be like one of the first birthday parties that do this. So my brother in law's friend started this. I can't describe it other than an activation for like kids parties where he has essentially a. About life size, maybe like baby. Baby triceratops skeleton that he built. And he. I think he like kind of like comes to your house and it's like in this box and he's like dressed like a Jurassic park type person. And you have to kind of like excavate and find the fossils and then you put the skeleton together and it's a triceratops.
A
What? This sounds so cute.
B
I know. It's gonna be really. It's really cool. I don't fully understand how it works. Is again, like, I think they did their first like test birthday.
A
Well, just, it's, it's. It's an, it's an entertainer. It's entertainment at the birthday party.
B
It's an entertainment at the birthday party. And so that's kind of. It's like dino dig or something like that. I'll have to like, see if they have. I mean, I'll share about it at James's birthday, but I'm currently trying to coordinate with him to get that done. But like, what a fun thing to do.
A
What a fun thing to do. That sounds amazing.
B
Yeah. So we're working on that.
A
You need to get a date out on that, Liz. I don't have that on my calendar.
B
Well, I'm trying to do his birthday, which is June 20th.
A
Okay, well, I need to write that down. I know.
B
I need to get. I'm telling you, I need to get on it. Your calendar is open.
A
Okay, put it on my calendar. Okay, well that sounds fun.
B
Yeah.
A
So I. Something big that I've kind of been up to, remember? So all my stories. I was complaining about Talk to Text because I think Apple Talk to Text is. It's getting worse, right? It's getting worse. It's.
B
It is getting worse. It has not always been this bad or were.
A
Yeah, it's. It's very annoying. It. And like, there's no excuse because, like, the technology now exists and Apple's always been cutting edge and I find the talk to Text to be absolutely horrible.
B
No, it's bad.
A
So one of the girls works for us. Stephanie was like, kelly, you've got to get this app called Whisper Low. She's been trying. I was like, Steph, I'm like, no, I. Let me be clear as I'm like, not one to like, download an app. Like, that's such an ask for me. I downloaded it. Incredible.
B
Apple. Oh, okay.
A
So you can do it on your computer and on your phone. The computer one's even more amazing. Like, Stephanie was like, I haven't written an email in three weeks. I just whisper flow the email and what Whisper Flow does, which like, Apple could never. Not only do they understand what you're saying and they use context clues to make sure it's like, obviously the right thing. You can also change, like how you want the tone to be or like the punctuation to be. So you can put like casual, Formal. Excited. So like, for my phone, I'm like, casual. For my email, I'm like, formal. And you can whisper flow and if you like get something wrong, it. So like, for example, if I was like, hey, this sounds good. I can meet at 10:30. No, I'm sorry, I can meet at 11:30. It'll like, remove the 10:30 because it's lit. Because it's AI and it's intelligent.
B
Yeah. Unlike Apple.
A
Talk to text. It is changing my life.
B
So is it. So it's an app. Do you pay for it?
A
So I don't really know. That's a good question. I'm on the 14 day trial.
B
Oh, okay.
A
But I don't know if I'm gonna need more. Cause it kind of depends, like, how much you use it.
B
Okay.
A
You know what I mean? Sure. Okay.
B
Well, no, they added to the list of things I need to do. I need to download Whisper Flow. Cause I agree Apple's Apple is getting worse. I don't know what's up with that.
A
No. And like, there's a lot of things that I don't. I don't really want to use AI for thinking. Like, I understand that, but how much time I spend to write an email versus how. And I'm a better talker. My brain works better when I talk versus, like, when I try to type it.
B
Yeah.
A
So, yeah, like, catch me responding to every email. Any text I'M just whisper flowing punctuation,
B
spelling gonna be correct this time around.
A
It's like, it's really, really good. It's a good use of technology. I'm very happy about it. Yeah. And then this is like podcast one of two that I'm doing today. I'm doing something so crazy today.
B
What are you doing?
A
I'm going to an in person podcast studio.
B
Oh. You'll have to let me know how it is.
A
I know. I'm going to kind of like scout it out for us. Because as much as I am okay with our in home setup, like, there is just something. I would love to go to a studio with you.
B
I think there's something about synergy when we're together.
A
Totally. I would love to hit up the studio life at least like sometimes, you know?
B
Totally.
A
So I'll let you know. But I'm very excited. It is kind of far for me. It's 42 minutes, so maybe I'll download a yesteryear so I can, like, get 42 minutes out.
B
Yeah, Kel, that's a long way. Maybe we shouldn't do a studio.
A
We could probably probably find a closer one.
B
Oh, my gosh, this baby's kicking me non stop.
A
She was wondering why your hands were, like, down your pants. I forgot you were pregnant for a second.
B
Yeah, I know. It's because she keeps kicking me like crazy.
A
Elizabeth's bump is so interesting this time around. When you guys see her at the auto show, she is carrying solo.
B
Yeah. And it feels like it too.
A
Yeah.
B
I'm in a lot of pain, but yeah. And she's just, like, kicking me like crazy. She just, like, wants to say hi to everyone.
C

B
Quince.com Carpool okay, something I want to talk about. This is kind of a crazy PSA that happened to my friends last week. Basically, they got hacked so bad that they nearly got like their entire bank account drained. And they are. Well, it was her husband. He is a smart guy who works in finance who deals with hacking all the time and he got duped. So I kind of like, I use that as a preface that this wasn't like a obvious thing, it was like a crazy way they Hacked them and something that they've been dealing with. So I just want to, like, give this a PSA to everyone, because now I'm smarter because it happened to happen to them. And, like, luckily they got it all. They, like, caught it and, like, got it all figured out. But it was like a crazy. It was crazy. So here's what happened. They. He got a phone. They have Verizon as their carrier. He got a phone call, and it popped up as Verizon is calling you. And they were like, hey, did you order two phones? We see that two phones are. Two extra phones are ordered. And he's like, no, I didn't. And he's like, they're like, okay, well, they're going to arrive to your house. Can you just, like, ship them back whenever you get them? And I. There's definitely holes in the story, mind you, but he was like, yeah, okay. So then, like, these phones arrive. They're like. They're calling him again. Like, hey, can you ship it back? They're getting alerts from their Verizon app, which is crazy. And they just keep. They. They just, like, keep reaching out. They keep calling them. They're like, okay, now we're seeing some weird activity. Looks like someone's trying to, like, get in through your phone number through this. Like, is this you? And he's like, no, this isn't me. And he ends up calling Verizon back. And they're like, hey, I was trying. I was talking to this person. And Verizon's like, we haven't talked to you since January. So that's when the alarm started going off. Basically, these hackers were calling him and telling him everything that they were doing, but acting like they were Verizon, trying to prevent it from happening.
A
So they didn't, like, realize. Yeah, yeah.
B
So through. They hacked his phone number. And if you have your phone number nowadays, it's like, if they can hack your phone and then have access to your phone. Oh, you. Like, we need. You need, like, you get texted codes to then log into everything. They logged into his Venmo. They logged into his bank account. They logged into his, like, FanDuel, their Amazon. Like, they ordered a thousand dollars off Amazon of stuff off Amazon. They, like, drained his. He, like, you know, some money in his FanDuel account. They drained that. And then they even went as far to somehow access his Social Security, like, craze. Also, have your credit frozen is another lesson. So also say, like, if you get phone calls from people from your bank account or your phone Hang up. Like, hang up and call the number. Call your bank again, and then make sure that it's them, because we can't. Like, it's crazy that the number said it was from Verizon and they were
A
somehow getting so shook by this.
B
Elizabeth. I'm so shook by it, too, because he's. And he felt. He was feeling. He was, like, kicking himself. Because, like, I deal with this all the time, and I'm like, it kind of sounds like anyone could have gotten duped this way, and it could have been so bad. So that's my lesson, to hang up and call. Call your. Call them yourself. You got to sit on hold. It's worth it. Because he was at the bank all day. They're still dealing with it. So it's. It's.
A
So what happened to the phones? Did they send the phone?
B
Like, I don't know. See, I'm kind of fuzzy on the phones. I don't know. I'm kind of fuzzy on all the details. She, like, briefly described it to me, but
A
you have to be so careful. Have I ever told the story on the podcast about when I got scammed?
B
Yeah.
A
Oh, I have told the story. Yeah. Okay. Well, one time I got scammed while trying to trademark the karma.
B
Yeah.
A
Because someone, like, once, once my lawyer submitted it, that I was going after this trademark that becomes public. So then this, like, basically, like, someone, like, cosplayed as my lawyer to send me the bill, and I paid it.
B
Yeah. Yeah. You gotta be so careful nowadays.
A
I know. Now I'm almost, like, too skeptical, you know?
B
Yeah.
A
But I don't really know what the solution is to that, because, like, it's warranted.
B
Well, yeah. I mean, I think it's just, like, always, like, hang up and call them back yourself.
A
Yeah, I like that. I like that. I think that's just, like, a good
B
rule of thumb, because I. When I went to go, like, open a bank. A bank. A business card or something, I was at the bank, and I was talking to the person for a while because it's like, setting up an account or something. And she was telling me about the time that an older woman got hacked by. By someone pretending to be her bank. And because she gave them full access, they drained her entire account. And, like, there was nothing that the bank could do about it because, like, she literally gave them the permissions to do that. And so then she was just, like, out hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A
Just, like, the worst kind of people.
B
Yeah. I mean, they're thieves. They're thieves. They're criminals and they're fast because they know what they're doing. Like, they did this so quick. Like, they knew to go to all of these different apps where he might have money. It's just.
A
How do people sleep at night? Like, what's it like to just walk around this world with no guilt? I know. I don't know. Do you know what I mean?
B
Yeah.
A
Like, if I, like, if the barista makes my coffee wrong and I asked them to remake it, like, I'm riddled with guilt for days. These people are stealing money from the elderly and they sleep at night. Like, what is it like to be that?
B
And they're draining the account too. Like, they're not just taking, you know, $10,000 of a hundred thousand. They're like, oh, no, let's drain the entire account. Let's ruin this person's life. Let's take everything from them.
A
Oh, my gosh. I'm like, so sick.
B
I know. So I, like, hate hacking. I hate AI. It's only getting. It's only getting harder to detect and just spooks me out. So that's my psa.
A
I know. Like, what are we gonna do about AI?
B
I don't know. I don't like it. I kind of like it, but I don't like it.
A
I. I know. It's just like, so hard.
B
I know.
A
And everyone compares it to, like, the Internet or like, to social media. It's like, you know, everyone thought that was silly, but, like, I don't. There's something maybe just because, like, I'm of the time, but it does feel a little different.
B
What do you mean? People thought it was. I don't understand what you're saying.
A
I feel like sometimes people will say, oh, people said the same thing about the Internet. People said the same thing about social media. Like, how it was going to be horrible. And then it's like, okay, well, it kind of is.
B
Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean, I definitely think it's coming for jobs. And I think it's going to be harder to like, get some of those, like, cubicle type jobs.
A
Well, and I was. I listened to this podcast. No, not a podcast. It was a real or something.
B
You know?
A
You know, it's like, I don't know where I saw it.
B
I read it. I haven't read an article in years.
A
I read this. I read this thing and it was like, the Industrial revolution came for, like, manual blue collar jobs, and the AI revolution is coming for white collar jobs.
B
Yeah.
A
And, you know, there is a lot of inefficiencies in corporate America. I mean, if you're in corporate America, you know, it could stand to be more efficient. Like, how many times, like, I feel like some people are just, you know, all the hoops you have to jump through, all the people you have to talk to, and there is ways to streamline it. I just don't like that it. I feel like it will cost jobs. Like, I'm all about it getting streamlined. Why can't we just streamline everybody and get down to a four day work week instead? We're gonna, like, cut people out and everyone's still gonna work five days. The people who have a job, like, I don't like that.
B
Well, they're gonna cut people out because AI is cheaper than people. And that's what it comes down to.
A
Yeah. I just really think about all the parents who have older kids right now who are, like, trying to choose career paths. Like, what advice do you give to them?
B
Well, I think that you have to look at jobs that can't be replaced by AI.
A
Yeah. I don't know. Anyways, let's move on because this is a depressing convo. So I started a new show last night with my husband.
B
Okay.
A
And Tyler and I have been in a major content drought. Like, we have just not found anything that we want to watch together. And it was kind of starting to weigh on me because, like, to me, that's quality time, you know? And we were both just, like, kind of getting the bad habit of, like, I ordered my book, I would scroll my phone, he would scroll his phone. We were both just consuming, like, too much short form content. And, like, we need to, like, sit down, like, watch a show together. Like, experience something together. And in my book club, Claire recommended this show called the Men who Built America.
B
Okay.
A
And it's. It was like a History channel thing. And it's new. It's new on Netflix. It was produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, and it's about the frontiersmen of America.
B
Oh.
A
So, like, think Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark, Davy Crockett. Like, people who I know the names I don't know all that much about. Yeah. So. And it's really cool because it's like half show, half documentary. So, like, I like, they have. They have characters and they're showing the things and there's even dialog with the characters. But then they have all these historians who are also chiming in to, like, give you the context on how it relates to, like, things that are going on. It's so incredibly well done. The man who built America. And what's fun for me is like, a lot of these things, like, happened kind of where we live.
C
Yeah.
A
Like, Daniel Boone died in Missouri.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, he. His life story. It was me and Tyler. Our jaws were on the floor hearing about this man, Daniel Boone. Like, he was. He was a superhero. Like, he was a legend. Like, how did he not die? Like, he should have died so many times.
B
Yeah.
A
And like, you know, he makes it and like, you're watching the show and I'm like, how is this man getting out of this? Like, this.
B
Is he getting out of this one?
A
This is insane. This is insane. Okay, so just really well done. And you know, we were. It was kind of hitting us in our feels because America's turning 250 this year. Yeah. So it's just like, feeling very like, History of America. You know, this was about, like, the Revolutionary War was going around when Daniel Boone and all this was happening. Just really, really excellent. Really well done. I learned a lot. I was entertained.
B
We could all stand to learn more.
A
We could all stand to learn more, especially about American history. And I was. Then we were looking up because Daniel Boone, like, founded this settlement in Kentucky called Boonesborough. And. And it was like, with the first settlement past the Appalachian Mountains, it like, was. It's a huge deal. And it's still, like, the fort is still there today and you can go visit it. And I'm like, how fun, like, when our boys and our girls, when our kids are older, like, driving them to Kentucky. Like, I want them to, like, watch the documentary I just watched because it's History Channel, so nothing's that graphic, which I appreciate because I don't need to see gore.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, you know, it is there. You know, there is violence. Like, I wouldn't let my kids watch it now, but I would feel comfortable letting the 12 year old watch it probably.
B
Okay.
A
Because it's more just like, you know, they're shooting each other. I don't know. You use your own parental discretion. But I was like, how fun if, like, our kids to watch that and then we'll go see it. Like, all these things are like, kind of in Missouri, like, Lewis and Clark sailed down the river. That we got the river. Yeah. Like, all over St. Louis we have, like, Lewis and Clark signs of, like, where they traveled during the Louisiana Purchase. So 10 out of 10. So good. Watch with your husband.
B
All right. On Netflix.
A
On Netflix.
B
Okay. Love that. Well, Running Point came out with a new season, so I've been.
A
Oh, my gosh, I cannot wait. That's not a husband show for me, but I am lathered up. I don't know when I'm gonna have time between all these books, but I'm excited for it.
B
Yeah, that's my like, fold laundry to clean the kitchen. Show workout show.
A
Running point is so good.
B
Yeah, I like it. It's very different vibes from what you just described, but good nonetheless.
A
Her outfits are amazing in that show. Amazing.
B
Yeah.
A
And then speaking of amazing outfits, I need to get some because do you know what I'm doing in two weeks,
B
Two weeks from now, let me think. Is that when you are going to
A
D.C. i'm going to D.C. not to like do any D.C. things, but because that's the closest airport to where the IIHS does their crash testing. And Mazda invited me and I'm ringing Sam to go watch the new CX5 get crash tested. And I am. I can't believe I get to go to one to the IHS and meet Jessica Jermakian for the second time. Like my idol. Like, I love the IHS and I'm so excited to see this car crash test and Mazda. I reported on this a couple of weeks ago about, you know, just using the AI and the tracking and the, you know, just what that's going to look like. Mazda's like, really kind of, I guess we could use the word like cutting edge, leading the way on some of these initiatives. So I'm very excited to talk to their like, safety engineer. Consumer Reports actually just named Mazda the safest car brand, which was like, so interesting to me.
B
Okay.
A
And although I do think the CX5 is a little small, I'm excited to look at it from like a teen car perspective because just because it doesn't fit rear facing car seats doesn't mean it's a bad car. Yeah, I cannot wait to see it.
B
Okay. Love that. I'm so jealous.
A
I know. So what is one word of a crash test?
B
Close toed shoes.
A
Definitely.
B
I think you go athleisure.
A
Really? I don't know. I think I go like. No, I think I go like business with tennis shoes.
B
Okay. Okay, sure.
A
You know what I mean?
B
Like elevated athleisure. I wasn't thinking like leggings and sneakers. Like a jogger pant.
A
Like an athletic Brooklyn pant. Yeah, it'd be like a car on bomber.
B
Yeah, that's kind of what it's like
A
a shirt with a collar on it. I'll figure it out.
B
All right, that's your.
A
But I am very excited, very excited to do that. So I had to bring you guys like, an on the ground industry news. Like, actually, I'll be there making news.
B
No. That's so exciting. I will be like, sat for that content. I give you permission to post as many reels as you want that day. Oh, thank you. Not that you need my permission, because you do it regardless.
A
Yeah. But I feel guilty about it sometimes.
B
Something I'm trying to find an outfit for is Craig and Charlotte's engagement party. We got to get Charlotte on the podcast to give, like, a wedding update.
A
Oh, my gosh. We so do. They're okay. Their engagement party. The theme is racing to the altar, and it's Kentucky Derby theme. Yeah. Kentucky Derby themed, which is, like such a fun wedding theme. Any excuse to wear my fascinator.
B
Yeah.
A
And it was just derby weekend this past weekend, which. Oh, my gosh. The female trainer.
B
Oh, my gosh. That was an incredible. That race was insane.
A
No, I. I am telling you, Elizabeth, I love. I don't like sports. I love sports stories.
B
Yeah. Like, the people behind them. The sports.
A
The people behind the sports, like, get that girl a TV show yesterday. Where is Fernando Mendozo's documentary?
B
I'm sure it's coming.
A
Churn and burn them a little quicker.
B
The horse was literally in the back of the pack and he persevered and he went out. He took the longest route essentially, and made it first. It was incredible.
A
And he was like a 24 to 1.
B
Yeah. 23 to 1. Yeah.
A
It wasn't a 4 to 1.
B
And then fourth place was a 70 to 1 odds.
A
Fourth place was a 70 to 1.
B
So that's big, you know?
A
So anyway, their theme is their shower theme is dirty.
B
So anyway, things I'm trying to find is an outfit for that you wore to the derby.
A
Won't that still fit you, Kelly?
B
No, it's like six months pregnant.
A
It was like an a line dress. I just thought it could, like, go over the bump.
B
No, it was like, had a belt. And the other one that I got was from Rent the Runway. So, no, I can't.
A
Are you looking for a dress to, like, show off the bump or.
B
I'm looking for anything at this point.
A
Sure.
B
I've ordered a lot. It's just like, things are just like, not cute right now. And I have this like, kind of like flowy dress, and I tried it on, like, okay, this fits. This works. And then I tried it with my big floppy hat and I'm like, this is just like too much coming at you at once. So hard to find outfits when you're
A
pregnant, it is so hard. I.
B
And mom's sending me someone. I'm like, mom, thank you, but I don't want to spend that kind of money on a dress that is two to three sizes bigger than my regular size like this. These are investment dresses and I'm not going to spend that kind of money on them. So that's like the other thing.
A
Maybe I should bring you the dress that I. I mean, why don't you try on the dress that I wore to that wedding that I was thinking about wearing?
B
I don't know.
A
Maybe Cal, because I was pregnant with Libby when I wore it.
B
Maybe. I don't know.
A
We'll figure it out.
B
Anyway, we gotta have Charlotte on the podcast because they're getting married. For those of you who don't know, in England, they're having a destination. England.
A
Like, we haven't even spoken about this. I gotta. I gotta get my passport updated, like, so bad.
B
Me too. We have to add that on our calendar and we both have to go and do that.
A
We should do that together. We'll make a day of it. Okay. Okay. Well, let's kind of. I kind of do need us to kind of move a little quicker because I gotta go do my in person. Not that I'm trying to like put one podcast down for this podcast, but I literally didn't know I had this today. I thought it was tomorrow until Matny called and reminded me.
B
So was there anything to be said about Mother's Day? Like your hopes, your plans, like, your thoughts on Mother's Day in general?
A
Like, my thoughts on Mother's Day is. I do always. I 1. I don't put too much pressure on the day. Like, I'm excited to. I don't take a necessarily. I don't necessarily look at a day for me to be celebrated more. Just like, to celebrate all moms. Like, I really like that feeling. But I do also, just like, always hold the. The women who don't talk to their moms lost their moms or are hoping to be moms. Yeah, I just hold them in my heart because I feel like I have so much to celebrate on this day. I have an amazing mom. I love my relationship with my mom. I'm a mom. I have a great mother in law. So I feel very blessed on this day. But I know that's not the case for some people. So I just want everyone to know, like, I. I do think about you guys in those days, but I like the day because I. It's my husband's kind of a busybody. And he knows, like, on Mother's Day, I don't want anything, but I just want us to all be together. Like, Tyler's the type to be like, I'll take the kids. You go relax. I'm like, no, I want us to stay here. He's like, well, then can I go do something? No. No, I want us to all. He doesn't understand that I want us to all be doing nothing but together.
B
Yeah, totally.
A
He doesn't like that.
B
Totally.
A
So on, like, holidays and Mother's Day, he has no choice but to just, like. Just sit. Yeah, just sit. Just be there.
B
Just be present. Yeah. Yeah.
A
I don't want to break.
B
You know, I like. I like flowers. Like, I like. I like a brunch with my mom. But. Yeah, I don't know. I agree. I don't like to put a lot of pressure on the day because I feel like if you put any pressure on. On a day, like, you're always gonna be disappointed. So. Yeah, I'm just kind of. Well, this year, I'm not. Not doing anything.
A
So, you know. And, like, the homemade gifts are amazing. Just, like, the thoughtfulness, you know? Not to bring up my book club again, but one of the book club girls last night was saying for Mother's Day, she just wants her husband to write her a card. Because she's like, I know you appreciate me. You tell me you appreciate me. She's like, but there's just something about seeing it in the written word that just, like, hits different.
B
Totally.
A
And I'm like, oh, I might. Like, maybe I'll ask for that. Like, just write me a card. Let a couple sentences on why you appreciate me something.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. Doesn't have to be a novel. A couple. Maybe a paragraph.
B
Well, it could be. You could fill a card. You could feel.
A
I could fill a card.
B
I mean, there's. There's plenty to say. I agree. Because that also, like, makes. It makes you sit there. Makes him sit there, and he's got to fill the card to come up with some stuff. Yeah.
A
No, so I'm actually. I haven't mentioned that to him yet. And I might even go, like, I might as go as far as to buy him the card and say, fill this out. Yeah.
B
Maddie. Maddie always writes me a letter, so I am expecting a letter.
A
Yeah, you always get. Maddie. Maddie's kind of a. A man of. A man of the pen.
B
He is a man of the pen. Yes.
A
Is that what they say?
B
I don't know. I don't Think so.
A
I'm not doing industry news. There's nothing to talk about. So sorry. But I will do industry. No, not industry news. I will do Ditch the drive through. Ditch the drive through. We give you an easy dinner recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner at.
B
Okay.
A
Ready for mine? Yeah. I'm so sorry to bring my book club one more time, but they made this at book club.
B
Okay.
A
Tara did. And I just think it's a. It's. It's a vehicle of which we're not eating enough of, and it's something that we grew up with eating almost every Sunday. Do you know what it is? No. What do we have, like, all the time on Sundays
B
for lunch or for dinner?
A
For dinner?
B
I don't know. Steak?
A
A kebab.
B
Oh, a kebab. Okay.
A
I don't know if we're eating enough kebabs.
B
Yeah. Okay.
A
It's such a fun way to. You know, there's so many options, and it's just like. It's something on a stick. You could do, like, peppers and steak and grill them. She did. Turkey meatballs, cheddar and roasted peppers. You could do a blt. You could do a caprese. Like, it's just a fun. You could do a burger kebab.
B
Okay.
A
I'm just thinking I would like to see more kebabs this summer. A fruit kebab, kind of a kebab girl summer, if you will.
B
A kebab girl summer. Yeah. Okay. Sure.
A
Just kind of sit with that.
B
Sure. Yeah. Mom and dad always buy from, like, a grocery store that pre makes kebabs. And it's like, they'll put, like, raw chicken or raw steak and then, like, onion. Like a raw slice of onion, raw tomato, raw pepper. And then you just grill them, and then it all gets, like, nice and grilled and cooked perfectly. And it is really delicious. So good. I do like a kebab.
A
So it's kebab summer for me. Dessert kebab. I think the kids would have fun with making them. So I'm gonna just kind of ask myself all summer, like, can it kebab.
B
Can a kebab. Okay. Yeah, I like it. Well, what I'm making tonight is or this week is something I haven't made in a long time just because of the nature that I have, you know, kids who I have to cook for now, and that is buffalo shredded buffalo chicken on a sweet potato. And the reason I haven't made it is because I've been under this impression that kids shouldn't like spicy things, but James will eat, like, a jalapeno chopstick and not even notice that it has any spice in it. And some people have messaged me, like, oh, no. Like, my kids like spicy food. And I'm like, here's the thing. I make meals all the time that my kids don't eat. They just, like, go to bed having not eaten dinner. Like, it's very normal in my household. So I'm like, what if I just made the feel the food that Maddie and I like to eat, and there's a chance they will like and I won't. I'll make it, like, a little bit less spicy, and I'll offer them, like, a side. You know that I know that they'll eat. But I'm just gonna try to offer my kids, like, a buffalo. A shredded buffalo chicken in the crock pot, which is the best. You take some chicken breasts, you put them in the crock pot with some butter, some buffalo sauce. I like the primal kitchen one. And a little bit of apple cider vinegar and like, a ranch packet or ranch seasoning to season the chicken with. And then you just cook it and shred it. And then I top it with a. On top of a sweet potato. And I like to add, like, a, you know, like a chopped steakhouse salad bag that has, like, a blue cheese dressing in it. Delicious.
A
So good. I hope that works out for you. My kids are such wimps. I made buttered noodles with garlic salt two nights ago, and George said it was too spicy.
B
Here's the thing. The reason I'm willing to do it is because, again, like, I will make plain chicken or steak or, like, literally anything that they should like, and they just won't eat it. So I'm like, I really have nothing to lose, frankly.
A
Yeah, you have nothing to lose.
B
Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
A
That sounds good. Maybe I'll have that for lunch soon. I could do a buffalo chicken on, like, a little lettuce wrap or something. So good.
B
Yeah, so good.
A
Like, one of my. Like, we should do a great eight. We should remember the grade eight segment, and we should do great eight of chicken flavor profiles. I'm thinking buffalo. I'm thinking teriyaki. I'm thinking chicken parm.
B
I'm thinking lemon pepper.
A
I'm thinking orange.
B
Totally.
A
I'm thinking barbecue.
B
I'm thinking parm mahn chicken parm marinara.
A
I do think buffalo will win, though,
B
so I don't know.
A
I think it's kind of a moot point.
B
Maybe I need to take buffalo out.
A
Oh, that's a good idea.
B
What's the second best or best ways to consume buffalo flavor? Read Dip salad, Wang wrap wrap sandwich.
A
Nachos.
B
We should bring it back.
A
