What happens when our definition of God’s power begins to shape how we understand the Holy Spirit? In this episode of the Examining Bethel series, we explore one of the most foundational ideas in Bill Johnson’s theology: the pursuit of a “power lifestyle.” While Scripture certainly teaches that the Holy Spirit empowers believers, does the Bible present miraculous power as the lens through which we should understand the Spirit’s ministry? Or has an emphasis on signs and wonders subtly reordered biblical priorities?Join us as we carefully examine Scripture, compare it with Bethel’s teaching, and ask whether our doctrine of the Holy Spirit should be shaped by God’s revealed Word or by our expectations of supernatural experience.#BoldApologia #ExaminingBethel #HolySpirit #BillJohnson #BethelChurch #Discernment #ChristianTheology #Apologetics #Pentecostal #Charismatic #BibleStudy #SolaScriptura #SpiritAndTruth #SoundDoctrine

Pressure drops us into the 72 hours before D-Day, where General Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) needs a forecast from British meteorologist Group Captain James Stagg (Andrew Scott) before he can launch the largest invasion in history. This month on Are You Just Watching? we dig into what Pressure stirs up for Christians: two clashing approaches to science, the difference between confidence and certainty, the weight of duty, and how to watch a “based on a true story” film with real discernment.Takeaways:The film Pressure explores the multifaceted pressures faced during the weather forecasting preceding D-Day, emphasizing the historical significance of accurate meteorological predictions.Tim and Eve assert that while the movie's emotional elements are compelling, they detract from the historical accuracy of the events depicted, particularly regarding the portrayal of personal crises. The discussion emphasizes the dichotomy between confidence and certainty in scientific predictions, advocating for a balanced understanding of meteorological methods used in wartime.Tim reflects on the moral weight of leadership, drawing parallels between Eisenhower's responsibility for D-Day and the personal sacrifices made by those in positions of authority. The concept of discernment in historical narratives is crucial, as the film's dramatization raises questions about the authenticity of certain plot points and their implications for truth in storytelling.Eve and Tim conclude that while the film presents a gripping narrative, viewers must exercise discernment and critical thinking regarding the historical context and accuracy of cinematic portrayals.

What is heaven really like? Should Christians be involved in government? What makes someone a good person? In this relaxed and unscripted episode, the hosts pull random discussion questions that lead to meaningful conversations about faith, family, discipleship, and the hope of the gospel.Along the way, Derek, Matt, and Dave share stories about the people who shaped their faith, reflect on the influence of parents and mentors, and discuss how a biblical worldview affects everything from civic engagement to personal character. While the episode is filled with humor, stories, and spontaneous moments, it continually points listeners back to God's truth and the importance of viewing life through a biblical lens. Most importantly, the conversation explores humanity's need for grace and the reality that true righteousness cannot be earned. Our hope is not found in being "good enough" but in the saving work of Jesus Christ.Clarity in chaos. This episode is part 38 in a series going through the story of the Book of Mormon. This episode covers chapters 14-18 of the book of 3 Nephi. The Mormon Jesus finishes his version of the Sermon on the Mount for the 2,500 Nephites gathered at the temple in the Land Bountiful. Then, he explains that he will gather the "other sheep" into the one fold, which includes these people and the ten lost tribes of Israel. The people don't understand much, but Jesus heals their sick among them. Then, angels come and minister to the young children. The Mormon Jesus says that he will return to the Father soon. Just like he explained the valid method of baptism, he then institutes the sacrament: the Lord's Supper. He admonishes them to watch and pray and how to handle unrepentant people in the churches. Finally, the people are to return to their homes to ponder his teachings and he would return to see them the next day.Further research:Doctrine and Covenants [sections 7, 27, 133]"Three Nephites and a Little Miracle," My Life in Zion, October 15, 2012.Katie Lambert, "Why Early Saints All Drank from One Sacrament Cup & How It All Changed," LDSLiving.com, June 13, 2016.Book of Mormon in videoJoseph Smith: The Prophet of the RestorationThe Book of Mormon online: 3 Nephi [chapter 12, 13]Have questions for Truthspresso? Following Jesus has never meant blending into the culture around us. From the earliest days of the Church, believers have been called to stand firm in truth, love their neighbors well, and faithfully proclaim Christ…even when the world around them grows increasingly hostile to the Gospel. Our calling isn’t to retreat in fear or compromise for acceptance, but to courageously live as ambassadors of the Kingdom of God.In Episode 33 of the Sanctify Christ as Lord series, we examine what it means to honor Christ in the midst of a culture that often rejects His truth. How do we remain gracious without compromising? Bold without becoming harsh? Faithful without losing hope? Join us as we discover how to sanctify Christ as Lord while standing firm in a hostile culture.#BoldApologia #SanctifyChristAsLord #ChristianPodcast #HostileCulture #StandFirm #ChristIsLord #BiblicalTruth #ChristianLiving #ChristianWorldview #FaithOverFear #KingdomOfGod #Discipleship #GospelCentered #FollowJesus #FaithfulWitness #BiblicalApologetics #1Peter #HopeInChrist #ChristianFaith #TruthAndGrace
