Clay Travis
Clay, have you heard of the Rio Reset?
Buck Sexton
Sounds like a trendy new workout buck.
Clay Travis
It does, but it's actually a big summit going on in Brazil. The formal name is brics, which stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. But they've just added five new members.
Buck Sexton
Smart move to stick with brics. We know what happens when acronyms don't end, they confuse everyone.
Clay Travis
Well, that's an understatement. BRICS is a group of emerging economies hoping to increase their sway in the global financial Order.
Buck Sexton
Now that sounds like the plotline of a movie. I'm listening.
Clay Travis
Philip Patrick is our Bruce Wayne. He's a precious metal specialist and a spokesman for the Birch Gold Group. He's on the ground in Rio getting the whole lowdown on what's going on there.
Buck Sexton
Can he give us some inside intel?
Clay Travis
Absolutely. He's been there since day one. In fact, a major theme at the summit is how BRICS nations aim to reduce reliance on the US dollar in global trade.
Buck Sexton
Yikes. That doesn't sound good. We got to get Philip on the line, stat.
Clay Travis
Already did. And he left the Clay and Buck audience this message. The world is moving on from the dollar.
Buck Sexton
Quietly but steadily, these nations are making.
Real progress towards reshaping global trade.
And the US Dollar is no longer the centerpiece.
Clay Travis
That shift doesn't happen overnight, but make.
Buck Sexton
No mistake, it's already begun.
Clay Travis
Thank you, Philip. Protect the value of your Savings account, your 401k, your IRA, all of them, by purchasing gold and placing it into those accounts and reducing your exposure to a declining dollar value. Text my name Buck to 98. 98. 98. You get the free information you'll need to make the right decision. You can rely on Birch Gold Group, as I do, to give you the information you need to make an informed decision. One more time. Text my name Buck to 98. 98. 98. Welcome, everybody. Wednesday edition of the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton show Kick kicks off right now. We've got some great stories, big important things to dive into with all of you. The cleanup of DC Cleanup on aisle crime, if you will. I'm a dad now. I can make these kind of jokes. That is something that we're going to be discussing because Trump is running roughshod over the opposition. I think once again, their arguments increasingly pathetic. The numbers not supporting what they said they would in terms of. DC is safe. DC is safe. Clay and I both speak from experience here because not only have we lived there, but we know many people who still live there and have lived there their whole lives. No one says D.C. is safe, OK? No one who actually lives there thinks that it is a safe city. So. And I know that safe is a relative term, but Boston is a safe city. Like, I could go around the country and talk to you. San Francisco, other than your property, is actually a pretty safe city, believe it or not, for violent crime purposes. You know, you go around and you can find plenty of places that are you. You would be safe. It is not one of them. It is not one of them. Washington, D.C. so we're going to discuss that. San Diego, very safe, actually. San Diego, very nice, very safe city, very expensive. So, you know, we could do the whole thing. El Paso, very safe. So you can go around. There's a lot of places not the case in D.C. we have also Trump speaking at the Kennedy Center. Some interesting cultural moves there. We have. Do we get to make an announcement today, Clay, about a little special something. Something going on? Or is this just. Is this a. Is this a tease of a tease, or. Can I talk about your situation?
Buck Sexton
Oh, no, it's public. Yeah, yeah. I was like, oh, no. What's the. What. Yeah, yeah, we're doing a. We'll get into that a little bit later. But we got a fun event coming up in September that I think a lot of people will enjoy. And so let you do a big.
Clay Travis
Announcement, second hour on that one. You could lead everybody into that. But Clay has. And as we say, it is what you call a tease in the business. Clay has an announcement for all of you in the second hour. Something cool that's going on. Let's just say I may become Clay's cornerman. I may be there ready to cut. You know, I may have to cut if Clay gets hit.
Buck Sexton
Me gets hit.
Clay Travis
Let me get in there.
Buck Sexton
Get in there, Clay.
Clay Travis
Get in there. You know, so I'm looking forward to it. That'll be a lot of fun. Speaking of athletic endeavors, after the scurrilous accusations made yesterday about my tennis serve, there might be video that we'll be able to put up on Clay and Buck over the course of the next hour.
Buck Sexton
Double, tripled, quadrupled down. Just believing that you could hit a test serve. 100. Like, we were picking up our youngest at school walking back, and I said, you know, I. Because I was on the phone, we were talking about Crockett, and I said, no, you know, Buck can really do this. And she said, I just don't believe it. She. She said. She actually said. She actually said. We went to Wimbledon probably seven or eight years ago, which was an awesome experience. And what's cool about Wimbledon is many things, but center court is huge. But there are a lot of small courts where you can sit basically on top of the right arms.
Clay Travis
Yeah, that's the great thing about majors.
Buck Sexton
And you see how they hit it, and it doesn't come across on television the absolute power that these guys just smack the ball with. And so she was just like, there's no way Buck can hit a ball 100 miles an hour. Now. She didn't think I could bench press 185, 10 times. Laura generally believes neither of us can accomplish anything athletically is the overall recurring.
Clay Travis
Theme on the show. Lara. Ye of little faith. Travis.
Buck Sexton
Yes.
Clay Travis
All right, we will, so I will post that video and we can put it up at clay and buck.com I'll send it to the team. They don't. Speed guns for tennis are actually tough to come by that are reliable. So we have video of a serve and you can do the math on it. The distance from a baseline to the opposing service line is about 60ft. Very similar to a baseball distance, I believe. Clay. Is that right? Does that sound right? I think that's right. It's about 60ft from home plate to. So you can 66.
Buck Sexton
60Ft 6 inches I think or 60. I don't think it's 666. I think it's 60ft, 6 inches from pitchers mound to home plate.
Clay Travis
So very similar in the realm of baseball and tennis distance. So those of you imagine that I am pitching instead of serving and you will get a sense as to the speed because that's the same distance when that ball hits the ground. Ok, we'll get into that though. We'll get into that. You know what, let's talk a big game. We'll see what happens when the video is unleashed and we'll do a poll. Do you think this is faster than 100 miles an hour? But we have important things to do like saving the country and getting into the news and looking at what Trump is up to and Clay, I didn't know the range was hot. I didn't, I didn't know you were taking incoming on this one. But sure enough this was over on. Was this MSNBC or cnn? It was one of the communist people.
Buck Sexton
And let me just point this out before you play it. Of all the opinions I've ever given, I want there to be less people murdered in America. Seemed to me to be one of the least controversial takes in my 20 year media career. Hey, I hate murders and I wish less people got murdered. I thought, man, this is something that everybody could agree with. I was wrong. I've been getting lit up over this. It's, it's really one of the funniest things.
Clay Travis
I, I, I would, generally I would, as his cornerman I would, I would rush to his defense on this. But this is, this is just weak sauce top to bottom. But here is a former Jeb exclamation point Bush comms director. So one of those Republicans who now just is a Democrat but Refuses to say it and goes on Democrat channels to attack actual Republicans. Here he is attacking, by name Clay Travis on MSNBC for saying things that all of us are saying. But here we go.
Buck Sexton
Play one. This is all power play, right?
Clay Travis
It's all about the vibes and the look. And that's why you've got guys like Clay Travis on Fox News, I guess, rooting for living in a military state.
Buck Sexton
Right now, because they're trying to demonstrate.
Clay Travis
Strength and machismo, and it's mostly more about that than about the policy. Clay, your testosterone has just overwhelmed the MSNBC table over there, by the way.
Buck Sexton
I don't even see how testosterone is involved in wanting less murders. Are there people with high levels of estrogen that just want more people murdered?
Clay Travis
Excuse me, Clay, the claim was made that it was your overwhelming machismo that is driving this assessment.
Buck Sexton
I will acknowledge to MSNBC that in comparison to virtually all of the men that appear on that network, I would have overwhelming machismo. But this felt like somewhat of a calculated attack buck, because yesterday I'm just. Media Matters. Media Matters wrote the headline. This is a real headline. Out kicks Clay Travis. Federal takeover of D.C. should be a test case for whether we can go into other cities. And then they pulled. Here's my quote that they said was so unbelievable. I would like D.C. to be a test case for whether we could go into other cities where far too many people are being murdered and help to drive down the violent crime rate there as well as I. Again, I'm not surprised. Usually when people come after me or you for something that we might say, because there are things that we say that people on the left would be unhappy about. This, to me, is the least. Being in favor of there being fewer murders is the least controversial thing I may have ever said in my media career. But I think it's. It's indicative of their inability to pick rational things to fight about because they're just so reflexively anti Trump that even things that are not particularly political, hey, let's have less people die in D.C. they automatically line up against him on. It really is derangement. That is not getting better.
Clay Travis
Well, I'm glad Clay was able to take a moment to stop smashing beer cans against his face and belching the Alphabet with all of his machismo talking about how that's incredible. Yeah, it was amazing. I saw that. I said, wow. Really? Just. Just throwing elbows at my man Clay over this one, too. This is not even you. You say way crazy. No one even remembers what you said. About Michelle Obama. I was like, oh, they're going to come after him on that one. But nope, apparently not.
Buck Sexton
So that's like the 748 least controversial thing that I said yesterday. And somehow that's the one that they decided.
Clay Travis
Like when I got attacked on HBO for my hot take on sports for Simone Biles not being like the bravest for stepping out of an event. Remember, that was it's always the ones that you don't expect. It's always the ones, you know, the takes that you put out there that you don't. Ok, let's dive into now the crime situation and this back and forth because I think once again, Trump, well, oh wait, no, this was my favorite. This is my favorite. Anan Jira Harad. Jirid Haradas. Jira Haradis. I'm trying to get that one right. Jared Haradis was on Morning Joe. I did not see this live. Unfortunately, my Morning Joe viewing did not catch this one. But this is the kind of stuff that is being offered up. Meanwhile, Cash Patel is saying, yeah, FBI just arrested a whole bunch of very scary, very bad, bad dudes, bad people who have committed very serious crimes who are out there in D.C. so things are already happening. They're already taking action to take violent criminals off the streets. Over at MSNBC, this guy, Mr. Jiroda Hardis, is saying that this is what he's worried about. Play 2.
Unknown Speaker
A relatively small crime problem is being used for specific authoritarian purposes that we know and understand. So let's be clear about D.C. does have a really one really big crime problem, which was the January 6th insurrection incited by the current President United States. And his first act in coming back was pardoning all the people who tried to overturn constitutional republic order in Washington, D.C. when I go to D.C. i'm not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I'm afraid of losing my vote. I'm not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I'm afraid that my children's freedom to breathe will be stolen in a world where climate change policy is non existent.
Clay Travis
Clay I'm not scared of crime in dc. I'm scared of climate change. Might be the most perfect distillation of lib MSNBC delusion I have ever heard post Covid. I mean, it might be the craziest thing and I'm sure he's not alone in believing this.
Buck Sexton
I think that opposing Trump trying to bring down violent crime in D.C. may be the craziest anti Trump position that Democrats have taken yet. I, I, I look, there are Other things. Trump, I think, has exposed them on men and women's sports, for instance. But that's a choice they made prior. This is a direct response to Trump saying, I want to bring down the overall death rate in the country, in our nation's capital. I want it to be a beautiful jewel of a city with low crime, low homelessness, less graffiti, less waste product everywhere. And this guy comes on and says that he's worried about climate change more than he's worried about being mugged. I. First of all, that's a lie. There is no one who, especially an effeminate man like him. There is no one out there walking the streets of D.C. late at night that is thinking as they breathe the air, oh, my goodness, I am terrified of climate change, but thank the Lord, I don't have to worry about getting somebody knocking me in the back of the head. That doesn't exist. That, and this is one of the things that I think is exposing Democrats and is their arguments are so profoundly inauthentic that even people who might believe in climate change don't believe that argument. And I'm surprised that guy has kids because I, frankly, that's not an argument that sounds like someone with a functional penis would make. So congratulations to him on that, I guess. But this is, you know, maybe that's machismo coming out of me, but come on. Like, this is not. This is not a real argument that a rational human being would make, and he doesn't even believe it. Right. I mean, this is, this is the essence, I think, of their collapse as a party, why they keep hitting new lows in support, and why they basically have no men in America that are supporting the Democrat party. Now, would that have functional brains at all? I think it's arguments like these, spoken.
Clay Travis
Like the mansplaining machismo expert himself, Clay Travis, all the machismo just, just, you know, oh, I can't handle it all. Yeah, man, crime is bad. And anyone who's lived in D.C. or spent time there knows that this has been a. Remember at one point, it was the murder capital of the United States. I understand it's gotten a lot better since then, but it also got a lot worse in 2023 relative to where it has been in the 21st century. And there's also more and more evidence that they're cooking the books and that their prosecutors are downgrading felony crimes to non felonies to make things look better. Anyone who has seen the show the Wire remembers this, and anyone who's worked in a major police department knows this is something that is a temptation for the brass. Oh yeah, we're doing a great job in this precinct because we're actually not doing the arrests that we were doing before or on the prosecutorial side. Same idea. We're just going to downgrade all these arrests to something that's not a big deal.
Buck Sexton
Also, Jan6 as in some way a, you know, the worst day for America since the Civil War. Even trying to continue to make that argument, which is something that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden tried to sell. There was barely a blip when Trump pardoned everybody who was involved in Jan6. Now, partly that's because Biden pardoned his entire family right beforehand, but I also think it's an understanding that they played that for every ounce that they could and there's just no juice left in that, in that orange, so to speak.
Clay Travis
I'm telling you, when I'm walking down the street, I'm not worried about climate change, but I am worried about identity theft because that can hit any of us. We'Re fired. Shots have been returned on the tennis court. The video is up. We're putting it up atclay and buck.com. for those of you who aren't on X, put it elsewhere as well. Now, I, I understand where this is going. You're gonna, you're gonna see that serve. I'm gonna give Laura the opportunity to watch the video. Clay, I just tagged her.
Buck Sexton
I just tagged her on social media.
Clay Travis
I'm gonna let her retract.
Buck Sexton
I'm just telling you, she is not going to attack. Retract.
Clay Travis
She's going to attract a scurrilous attack.
Buck Sexton
She's going to demand that there be radar.
Clay Travis
I'm going, I'm going to find. I have many police friends here in Miami and I, because I think. Would a, would a radar gun for a car work for a serve too? I don't know. This is, I got to figure this out. Like this is.
Buck Sexton
I don't know what the, what the method by which they measure the speed of a serve, but anybody who watches tennis has seen immediately after every serve, they flash it up. It's sponsored by Rolex or somebody, I think. Right.
Clay Travis
Usually IBM shot spot. They have all these things. Yeah, but that's like very high tech and a multi million dollar, you know, enterprise of the technology involved.
Buck Sexton
Somebody in Miami in the super high end tennis universe has got the ability to. I bet they have this.
Clay Travis
I'm just gonna say, I'm just gonna say, you know, Laura has the opportunity to retract the scandalous accusation, the scandalous doubting of my serve after seeing video because I'm a gentleman. If she wants though, the radar gun.
Buck Sexton
She's not going to accept. I'm just telling you, I've been.
Clay Travis
We gotta put a stake, we gotta put a stake wager on this. We're gonna have to. She's gonna have to take, you know, I don't know which steakhouse in Nashville. And we'll do. We know. We'll take her to the dancing steakhouse here in Miami Beach. If I'm wrong. All right. We'll go to the fun place. So. Cause I think, I think she sees that video, she might get a little, might feel a little iced on this one. I could be a little. You know, I think she's going to be surprised. This has been the story of my life. People underestimate the strength and speed of the buckster because he just looks cuddly. But it turns out that there can be, there can be surprises in store. All right, man.
Buck Sexton
The confidence, by the way, on Twitter, after I shared this, you're getting lit up. People are not. They're actually lining up behind our Alara. Maybe 80 miles an hour maybe. And let's see here. Maybe 70 miles an hour. 67. About 75.
Clay Travis
People are out of their minds. People are out of their minds. No. No idea, no idea what they're talking about. The pros serve routinely now 125, 130 miles an hour. So if Laura had said 120, I'd be like, that's tough. 100 miles an hour. Play the women's tennis players. Women's tennis players routinely 110 miles an hour now.
Buck Sexton
So this telling Grok to answer the question on Twitter now. I don't know if Grok. Oh, wow.
Clay Travis
I didn't think about that.
Buck Sexton
That's actually a. I would think does potentially have the ability to actually, to actually time this out. So you can go see the video for yourself from Buck's Twitter account at Buck Sexton. I just retweeted it. Laura Travis is in meetings for our house that we are building. So we will. I will let you know when I hear.
Clay Travis
I'm just, I'm just telling you the average, the average pro tour women serve. The average women serve is about a hundred miles an hour. Now the question is not can I serve in a match every serve over 100 miles an hour. The question is can I juice it over 100 miles an hour one time and get it in? I mean, if any of you can do math, you could 60ft. Look at that. You could do slow mo if you want. 70 miles. 70 miles an hour. That's, that's preponder. Throw a basketball 70 miles an hour. It's insane. So anyway, all right, all right, so. So now we get into real things. I'm just saying this is, you know, when, when one is called out on this, one is called out on this. I mean, we're. Did people think that Clay was using dummy weights when he did his 185 ten times? I don't know. Maybe some people thought that, but it turned out Clay could bench 185 ten times. All right, I know you don't come here for all the silliness only, so let's dive into some of the realities here of what Trump was just saying. You know, I want to, I want to do this. Interest rates, actually, because this, this has got to happen. It has been far too delayed. Trump was just speaking. He just, he just finished, right, guys? Because he was speaking while we went on air. He was going off for, for quite some time. Cut 32 here. TRUMP Talking about where interest rates need to be. Listen to this one. Play it.
Donald Trump
And now he's got us in a bad place. So we're paying $3 billion a year for each point. Now, I believe we should be three or four points lower. So that's over $1 trillion. We pay every year in interest. And it's really just a paper calculation. You sign a document and you save almost a trillion dollars because that number equates very much to the bonds that we have to buy. But despite that, we're powering through it and we have the greatest economy maybe we've ever had.
Clay Travis
I think this is going to be fantastic for the economy.
Buck Sexton
Look, the number one thing, and I'm just going to keep hammering this, we were just talking about this off air. I have been in my house for 10 years. I have like a 2.8% interest rate because that was the rates that you could get at some point over the past decade. If, however you, if you're, if you're fortunate enough to have a rate like that, which many of you are, you don't want to move. If you are unfortunate. And you bought just a couple of years after that, right? You bought in 2022, you bought in 2023. You've got around a 7% interest rate on your house and you are desperate to be able to bring that rate down. And it just hasn't happened. But that disconnect has broken the housing market. Joe Biden broke the housing market and Trump understands interest rates. If he can get them back to 5% on the mortgage rates, if you can get them to four and a half, then all of the housing market suddenly opens up. People are willing to pay a bit more. You had a kid, maybe you had a kid leave college and you leave for college and you don't need the same size home anymore. It is just, I think the number one bottleneck right now that exists in our economy is the mortgage run up from around two and a half points to seven overnight, basically because Biden let inflation go to 9%. And people can always say, well, 7% historically is not, you know, a crazy awful rate for a mortgage. I understand that argument. But in the context of going from about 2 and a half to 7 plus in the space of about 18 months is truly unheard of in much of modern life for most people out there buying homes. So this is, this is the thing. Trump's 100% right on. Now, inflation has not taken off. There is an expectation that the Fed is going to lower rates in September, maybe also in October, probably going to get a half basis point minimum before the end of the year. So if you were out there and you're looking at housing markets and you're thinking about making a move to the extent that you want to listen to Clay Travis, interest rate aficionado I would say if you start to buy sometime around Thanksgiving, you're probably going to get a much lower rate going forward and hopefully those rates will continue to get cut going into 2026. So you can add mortgage rate expert to my list of, of, of things that I predicted here. A lot of you are way better versed in interest rates than me. But I do spend enough time about involved in it. I know you've got different properties. I've been involved in a variety of commercial real estate transactions over the years, still have a bunch of and then personal residents. So this is a big deal and Trump knows this better than anyone. And Jerome Powell's been a disaster. He was too late to stop inflation and now I think he's been too late to bring back down the rates that he was forced to raise rapidly because he was too late. He's always too late reacting to the underlying economic data in my opinion. I think Trump's right about this.
Clay Travis
He also goes into this here. He says on the issue of the crime, this is cut 29. What we want to do is make wash. Well, let's let the president say it, play it.
Donald Trump
What we want to do is make Washington D.C. the greatest, most beautiful, safest capital anywhere in the world. And that's going to happen. I mentioned the word bones before. The bones here, the bones. We have the greatest bones. When you look at that Supreme Court building, I think it's one of the most beautiful buildings. When you look at some of the buildings here are so magnificent and everything's good but it's just dirty and not properly maintained. It's not taken care of, potholes in the roads. All of it's going to happen very quickly. We're going to seek a relatively small amount of money for fix up.
Buck Sexton
I just, I don't understand how this is something that Democrats have decided they're going to be opposed to. It just it to me is one of the most ridiculous arguments maybe that they've ever adopted.
Clay Travis
I think that this is another situation where maybe they just there's that reflexive anti Trumpism that comes across and they think well that's what I have to do. And now they've created this position for themselves where like why wouldn't you want the FBI dealing with violent crime on the streets, you know, why wouldn't you want people to be in a situation where they're safer? And it reminds me a little bit of the immigration issue, which is at. They started off, remember, they're used to just being able to say it's racist and like, we are a nation of immigrants and all this stuff. Well, first of all, on the racist point, majorities of minorities in this country want a secure border, too. So that's tougher than ever to. To sell. But Clay, they started out going after. What was that guy's name, the one who got sent to. You know what I mean?
Buck Sexton
Abreu Garcia. Abreu Garcia. They started out that that story has completely vanished, by the way, because I.
Clay Travis
Think it puts 13 gang members. Ms. 13 gang members. And you know, you sit there, you just say to yourself, this is something that's not going to go well for them. But you almost get the sense that there's no adult in the party who is out there to say, hey, guys, you know, this is, this is not helping you. Right? Like, there's no voice of reason from the top of the Democrat Party. Not that there ever really is, but there's usually a savvy. You know, there's somebody who can read the polls and understands. Look, as much as he was a dementia patient, Biden knew even at the height of blm, not to go with defund police. Yeah, he was a savvy enough cat or his advisors were not to go with defund the police. It's like right now, there's no voices in the Democrat Party who are really, or at least that are big because we're playing some Democrats, right, Like Chris Matthews. But there's no big prominent voices who are saying, guys, on this crime thing, you got to at least say we have a better approach to it. The DC's really safe. You're lying. It's such a great city and no one should worry about this or we should worry about climate change. Just makes you look insane.
Buck Sexton
Here is a guy, let me give you a name that I think could come out of nowhere in 2028 in the Democrat primary process. Rahm Emanuel. I think he is a relatively normal, rational guy who is in the 1990s era Democrat, which by the way, 1990s era Democrats are basically Republicans now. In fact, there are a ton of you out there who maybe in your younger days might have voted Democrat in the 1990s, and you now are voting for Trump because the whole concept of a centrist Democrat doesn't really exist anymore by and large. It's basically become a rational, common sense Republican. And I think Rahm Emanuel is of that ilk in the 1990s. Democrat now. That's what they tried to run Joe Biden as. And Buck. The question that I think is still floating around out there is are any of the Democrats that try to take the moderate, rational, common sense lane, are they actually just going to be liars like Biden was and then as soon as they get into office, bend their knee to the progressive wing of the party and go out there and run the country not as some form of centrist but as a far left winger? That's what Biden did, right? Biden was a sheep, a wolf in sheep's clothing, right? They pretended that he was not, that he was Grandpa Joe and he wasn't really going to do anything that aggressive. And then they got him in there and I don't think he really had any idea what was going on. And they ran him like he was Bernie Sanders. And I think that's why his entire political universe collapsed. Not to mention he had dementia and so he didn't have the mental or physical ability to stand up to any of these guys. Look, football's back on Thursday or Friday. I'll give you a pick for the preseason. We'll have some fun. But it is underway. All of the games are being played and you can play prize picks in over 40 states. California, Texas, Florida, Georgia. I think we've rolled this over a couple of days. I do not think we have played it yet. But we're talking about crazy town. And this is. I don't think we played this right. Reality star and star is doing a lot of work there. Someone named Jennifer Welch team. We have not played this yet. Right. She is evidently a Bravo person. And for those of you out there, my wife watches some of these. I bet that a large majority of women out there, certainly if I would say I don't know, I, I would think this is probably the Bravo Housewife shows are probably Ali, is it fair to say it's like women under 50 is like the wheelhouse. Like women 30 to 50 would be like the Bravo perfect Real Housewives audience. And so this is like one of the most popular shows for women out there. And I imagine some of you men have walked through and seen the screaming fights and the crazy town that is involved in these shows on a regular basis. So this reporter, sorry, this Bravo star Jennifer Welch evidently has a podcast and this has gone mega viral because she said white Trump voters shouldn't be allowed to eat at Mexican or Chinese restaurants. They should only be able to go to Cracker Barrel. This is real cut 24.
I
I've had it with white people that triple trumped that have the nerve and the audacity to walk into a Mexican restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, an Indian restaurant, go to perhaps their gay hairdresser. I don't think you should be able to enjoy anything but Cracker Barrel. And if you want a triple trump and you want to browbeat dei, you want to browbeat gay people and you want to browbeat black people as you've been doing for 400 years. And you want to browbeat this generation of immigrants that come over here and open up businesses for earnestly pay their taxes. You want to demonize them and call them rapists and felons and all this when the felon is the teeny weeny mushroom piece of cankles McTaco at the top of the ticket. I have had it from top to bottom, white people, that triple trump should be banned, boycotted from enjoying the best thing that America has to offer, which is multiculturalism. Get your fat asses out of the Mexican restaurant. Get your fat asses over to Cracker Barrel because nobody Wants to see your smug ass, teeny weeny pink arm, big gut around. Nobody wants to see that. No one.
Buck Sexton
I mean, whoa.
Clay Travis
Yeah.
Buck Sexton
So first of all, this is, I think maybe the base of the Democrat Party now. And you say, okay, what do you mean by base of the Democrat Party? Yes, it's ridiculous, it's outrageous what she said. But liberal white women, if you go look at the 2024 election results, Kamala Harris really only improved on Joe Biden with white women. Think about that for a minute. Every group in America, Kamala Harris lost ground with black men, Hispanic men, Asian men, white men, black women, Hispanic women, Asian women. All of them said, I am moving towards Trump in 2024, except for White women. And this woman. I know producer Ali is surrounded by women who may not be necessarily this vulgar, but in New York City, this would be a huge part. Buck, you tried to date some of these, some of these chicks when you were a single guy, unfortunately, in New York City. Why are they so angry at the world? I mean, I think it's a really big question. Because they are now the foundation of the Democrat Party. They are the people that the Democrat Party bends the knee to, responds to. They liked Kamala more than they liked Joe Biden, the only group in America. And you could hear from her such venom and by the way, not rational. Because if every triple Trump voter suddenly said, I'm not going to eat in Mexican restaurants anymore, do you know who would suffer? A lot of the people that are of Mexican descent, of Hispanic descent, that are working in the restaurants. And so I really do try to put myself in their world. Why are they so angry, Buck? Like, why is that woman in some way representative of the foundation of the Democrat Party right now? Not just disagreeing on policy fronts, but legitimately basing almost her entire take on Trump. Voters are awful human beings and they shouldn't be a part of civilized society. Why are they so mad? Why are they so angry? I really, genuinely can't figure it.
Clay Travis
Oh, boy. You may have some deep dive into the psychology.
Buck Sexton
I mean, I'm trying to think, put my head into the crazy world they. They live in. And I have difficulty even understanding why they are so angry.
Clay Travis
I think that they have, over a period of time, deeply bought into messaging that is going to inherently make people very, very miserable over the long term. I think that they have. Their. The value system they should have has been largely replaced by the leftist stuff that we talk about, the virtue signaling, the race, communism, the gender identity nonsense. And over, you know, there are some People whose minds are just more easily molded by the propaganda that's all around us all the time. I mean, there's a whole. You're asking about white women. I mean, I think. And people have gotten mad at me. I've been saying this for 20 years, basically, or whenever, whenever the show ended, I forget whenever it ended. But I mean, I think Sex and the City was terrible for women. I think Sex and the City was very bad messaging for a whole gen. And it's really women my age, maybe a little bit older for a whole generation of women because they watch that show. And I understand it's entertainment. I know it's very cleverly written. I understand. You know, I like jokes too. But the underlying message, you know, just to be clear, it's supposed to be fun. The underlying. Look, let's understand something. Even before there was radio and there was television, there's a reason political cartoons were so effective, right? There's a reason that using artistry for political messaging and you go back to propaganda during warfare and the existence of all these different methods of trying to engage in shaping public perception. And I. Anyway, so that's my roundabout way of saying with Sex and the City. I think that there was a value system that was elevated through that show and other things like it and other currents in the culture. But I'm just picking on that one right now where, you know, it's not about something other than yourself. It's about expensive shoes, it's about, you know, pursuing hedonism and self actualization and all these that actually don't mean anything. And there is a class of white women in America who. White women who are Democrats in America, to be clear, left wing Democrats who have bought into all this stuff and are now at the point in their lives, like this woman, where there's a derangement that has set in where they have to keep believing this stuff even though observation of the world around them would lead them to think that this is not that they have not made good choices.
Buck Sexton
It's very.
Clay Travis
Think about this, like how. How do you grapple with bad life choices? And I don't just mean that in terms of family formation or things, you know, whether you pursued career at the expense of other things. I just mean the way that you've interacted with people and saw yourself vis a vis society. How do you go back and say, wow, I believed in stuff that was like trash and worthless. So that's what I think. So you're asking me why these women are so unhappy? That's why I think it's so unhappy. They've been worshiping the golden calf of sex in the city life, and it's not good. And they turn around, they realize, why.
Buck Sexton
Am I so miserable?
Clay Travis
Well, because you didn't put other more important things before your own very kind of mundane and petty desires.
Senator John Cornyn
I. I.
Clay Travis
Was that.
Buck Sexton
Was that too much?
Clay Travis
I don't know. No, no, no.
Buck Sexton
I think it's. No, I mean, I. I think it's important sometimes because I'm always asking, am I. And am I missing something? Is there an argument? I am willing to be persuaded that I am wrong on anything if you can provide me an objective data point. I really struggle to understand these women, and I think that clip is so outrageous that it's funny to play. But she's not saying something that there isn't tens of millions of white women in particular out there who believe it. And I spent some time, because I. Obviously, this new book that I'm writing is about young men and the world in which they inhabit and how they've come to move so aggressively towards the Republican Party. But I don't hear very many people talk about, hey, Kamala was an awful candidate, one of the worst that's ever, I think, been run by the Democrat Party. And yet white women moved towards her. She, in some way was able to galvanize white women who showed up in big numbers for Joe Biden to move even more aggressively in favor of. In favor of Kamala. And that's an important lesson because we've talked a lot about young men moving and Trump gaining support with Hispanic and black and Asian voters. And that seems rational to me, if you're actually looking at the data, white women seem to have spun off into a whole world where the choices that they're making and the arguments that they are even being willing to embrace is totally nonsensical. And I think it's important to recognize that these people are out there and think about. They basically are destroying the Democrat Party because they're the foundation of the Democrat Party. Imagine. Imagine that you are a Democrat and that woman is leading the charge for your party. How do you make her happy? I think your Sex in the City argument is a good one. Buck.
Senator John Cornyn
I.
Buck Sexton
In my book, I argue that if you went back to, like, 1965 and you told a single man what was the ideal world that you would want to create? Feminism in the last 50 years has basically created the ideal world for men. Sex with limited to no work, a disposable culture of relationship where you can constantly Just swipe right or whatever it is. And I think these women, to your point, they made all the choices that they think empowered them, and actually they've managed to strip away much of their power. And men are actually more powerful in their world today than men were in 1965. And I think it's a counterintuitive thing. And to your point, what do you. What happens? I was talking to one of my buddies the other day. You know him, we went out to dinner, and he's in the middle of a divorce. And he was asking me, he had a financial question. And I was like, boy, this is like, not a good situation. Situation to be in. And he said. He said, and I give him credit, he's got a great sense of humor. He said, totally deadpan. Yeah, I know. For the last 20 years, given a choice between a good financial decision and a bad financial decision, he's like, I picked the bad one. And he's like, this is where you end up when you have good financial decision, bad financial decision, and you pick the bad one. He's funny about it, and he's still young enough where he's going to be okay. But I do think a lot of these women can't reconcile the fact that the reason why they're unhappy is. Is actually because of the world they've created around them. And so I think you're right. I think it's an element. They have to lash out and believe that all they have is their moral authority and everyone else is awful but them. And I think in reality, there's the deep toxicity to them. And that actually now characterizes the Democrat party. So I think the Democrat Party has to kick these chicks to the curb in order to ever be relevant again. And I don't think they can do it because they're the base now.
Clay Travis
Yes.
Buck Sexton

Welcome back in Clay Travis Buck Sexton Show Appreciate all of you hanging out with us as we are rolling through the Wednesday edition of the program. Lots going on. Trump has announced a large number of Kennedy center honors as he continues to remake Washington, D.C. and Buck, this is a small thing, but when you and I were up in D.C. in June, we were out on a boat. I'd never been out on a boat on the Potomac. Very fun. Carlos and Hillary, your friends from Miami took us out and they said something interesting. They said as we were going past, they were celebrating. It was June. They were celebrating America, not gay pride. And the colors on the Kennedy center were red, white and blue. And it was absolutely fantastic. And I think it is emblematic of the cultural shift that we have seen. And I bet Senator John Cornyn of Texas has certainly noticed that cultural shift as well. Let's start here. Look, we've been talking a great deal since Monday's press conference about the fact that President Trump is trying to make D.C. safer. You have spent a lot of time in D.C. is the city safe? Should it be safer? Can you believe that Democrats have decided that they're going to attack Trump on trying to limit the number of murders happening in our nation's capital.
Senator John Cornyn
Well, no, thanks for having me. First of all, no, the District of Columbia is not safe. And juveniles, juvenile offenders basically have a free hand because under current city council and US Attorney, or I should say the attorney general of DC Juveniles basically are not arrested and incarcerated, even though they are effectively adults. That's one of the reasons I was very happy to support Jeanine Pirro as the new U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. And I think President Trump's efforts hopefully will restore law and order to the nation's capital, which happens to have a whole lot of people from across the country and around the world. Come visit our great, our great nation's capital. And hopefully this will make things safer for them as well.
Clay Travis
Senator Cornyn, we've been talking a fair bit on the show about what's going on in your home state with the Democrats who have fled. I know that's a state legislature issue, but I was wondering if you could speak to that and what you think the resolution of this is going to end up being. For a lot of people, it's kind of a, maybe not a shock, but they're surprised to hear the Democrats plan is to just flee the state, hang out in Illinois and not actually do the business of the people. What's going on there with the, with these Texas Democrats?
Senator John Cornyn
Well, it's certainly untexing. In Texas, you don't cut and run. When you have a difference of opinion or a dispute, you, you work it out. And, and unfortunately, we have House Democrats here in what I would call really a hybrid situation. It is, you're right, the state legislature, but when they start crossing state lines, it then becomes potentially a federal issue issue. And we're talking about redrawing congressional lines, obviously, federal Congress, those lines, and they are simply preventing that from happening by defeating a quorum. And what I've tried to do by engaging both Cash Patel, the FBI director, and Pam Bondi more recently is to point out the potential jeopardy that these individuals are in. And it's just not something to be trifled with. They need to come home and do their job.
Buck Sexton
When you look at the Democrat Party right now, the entire opposition, by and large seems to be coming from federal district court judges who are trying to stand up against Trump. There doesn't seem to be a coherent strategy to oppose him. The party seems to be spiraling out of control, as evidenced by Mamdani and the, and the craziness there in the Senate where you are. There are some 100 such backlogs on Trump appointees being able to get through, how much of that resistance can be overcome, what should happen and where? Who is even the head of the Democrat Party right now? Who do you even feel like you're arguing against on a day to day basis now?
Senator John Cornyn
Well, Mamdani seems to be the new champion of the, of the modern or the current Democratic Party. Bernie Sanders and AOC certainly feel like they've been empowered. And Chuck Schumer is running scared because he's afraid that AOC will run against him in his next primary and he'll no longer be the leader of the Democrats in the Senate. But to your point, what we've seen is almost reflexive resistance. I mean, typically at this point on the nominations, you have a number of second and third tier nominees or nominations that most people don't know a lot about that are confirmed by voice vote or by consent. But the Democrats have simply resisted each and every Trump nominee for no better reason than Trump nominated them. And we will, when we return after August and September. I'm part of a small committee that the Majority Leader has put together to come up with proposed rule change where we will, with or without Democratic support, change the rules and allow the confirmation of this backlog of President Trump's nominees.
Clay Travis
Senator, can you give us what would those rule, those rule changes would be? What exactly? Just so we can know and keep an eye out for this, because it feels like the tactics of bad faith obstruction from Democrats have, have reached a boiling point.
Senator John Cornyn
They have, they have. Well, this, this really kind of goes back to back when Harry Reid was majority leader and he changed the Senate rules when it came to confirming federal judges, where historically it had only been 50 votes, he made it 60 votes. That was the so called nuclear option where there was an overruling of a parliamentarian and a new precedent set. I don't want to bore your listeners, but we extended that in 2017 when Neil Gorsuch was being blocked by Democrats. It would be a similar procedure where the Majority leader would move to take up these nominees as a block in block, as they're called, and let's say 10, 20, 40, 50 of them at a time. And then the parliamentarian would say, well, that's not permitted under the Senate rules. And then there would be an appeal to the members of the Senate and 51 would overrule the parliamentarian and set a new precedent. That's the down in the weeds way that this would happen. But sometimes it's called the nuclear option because it's pretty unusual. But this blockade of President Trump's nominees is simply intolerable, and we're not going to tolerate it anymore.
Buck Sexton
We're talking to Senator Cornyn. You are in the middle of a primary battle. What can you tell us about that race as it pertains to the. To the Republican race, and what are you hearing about Democrats and who's going to run and what the expectations are on that side of the ledger?
Senator John Cornyn
Yes, I am in a contested primary. We have the earliest primary, I believe, in the country, which is March 3rd. And I'm very proud of my support for President Trump and his policies. We went back and actually calculated it 99.2% of the time, a pro Trump voting record. I think for better or for worse, when you run for office every six years, people will kind of forget about you and forget about what you've done. And so we have to remind folks with advertising, but also the attorney general, the current attorney general of our state has a record that will cause him to lose the general election if, in fact, he is the nominee. And we'll see hundreds of millions of dollars spent in a futile effort to try to save this Senate seat in Republican hands if he's the nominee. So I've been talking to President Trump off and on about this. I think he'd like to see the race develop a little bit more, and that's fine. That's his prerogative. But we're not waiting around and we're making our case to Republican primary voters. But this would have consequences far beyond me and far beyond the state, because with people like Sherrod Brown getting into the Senate race in Ohio, and we're seeing Democrats coming up with recruiting of a field, a competitive field of nominees, the last thing we need to do is spend a lot of money in a failing effort in Texas to save a flawed candidate.
Clay Travis
What about Beto o' Rourke's future in Texas politics, Senator? Is he possibly going to be. Let's just say that you are the one who emerges from this primary we were just talking about. Would you like it to be Beto o'?
Senator John Cornyn
Rourke?
Clay Travis
What's your take on him? He's been making some noises lately.
Senator John Cornyn
He sure is. And Beto is. You know, my. I have a rule of thumb in politics and in elections, it's three strikes and you're out. And Bento has run so many times for the Senate, for president and for governor, and he is. He's basically, everybody knows about Beto, and he is simply out of consistent, out of step with what I would call Texas mainstream voters. He could run maybe for Senate or governor in California, but he sure is out of step with Texans and he's not a viable candidate. The guy who's actually announced his intention run at this point is Colin Allred, who lost to ted Cruz in 2024. But unfortunately, the polling shows that he would actually win if Ken Paxton is the nominee in November.
Buck Sexton
I know you're in the middle of a heated primary and you probably don't like questions like this because they get asked all the time. If you were not the nominee, would you campaign for the. And maybe somebody else is going to run, who knows? Would you campaign for the Republican nominee or would you sit out the entire election process?
Senator John Cornyn
Well, I think. I think if I'm not the nominee, then I'll continue to serve in the Senate for another year and a half or so and do the best I can to represent my constituents. I'm not going to speculate as to who the nominee ultimately will be. You're right. Other people could get in the race. We could see Ken Paxton decide once the polls, the numbers close and it looks like he can't win, we may see him decide to run for attorney general again, which he's done for two cycles because otherwise he's out of a job and out of politics for the rest of his career. So I really don't think it would be useful for me to speculate as to that. But traditionally, what I've done, I've always done a support the nominee in my party, no matter who it is.
Clay Travis
Senator John Cornyn, appreciate you being with us, sir, from the great state of Texas. We'll talk to you again.
Senator John Cornyn
Thanks, guys. Appreciate it.
Clay Travis
Really. We got, we got to have on. We had Paxton on to talk about Texas, but we got to have him back. If I didn't realize that, you know, we got in the primary thing here. So we'll have Paxton on to make his.
Buck Sexton
Look, this is going to be. We, we. We've got Kentucky, we have got Georgia, we have got Texas. Just off the top of my head right now, big bruising, it appears Republican primaries that are going to have to play themselves out in the Senate side before we even get into the general.
Clay Travis
And we don't, we don't, as you know, we do not as a rule endorse in a Republican primary. So we'll put that offer out for, for, for the opponent here to come on as well and, and make his case. But I was very curious to hear about the particularly Clay, the, the Senate confirmation stuff that's going on Senator Corden spoke to that is it's a big deal. And that's why the Democrats are doing everything they can to stop it. Because every one of these judges is there forever. I mean, not forever, but you know, they're, they're lifetime appointments. This is a big move every time you get another judge on and they can make an enormous difference. And then there's also the US Attorneys who are not getting through. So they're just trying to do whatever they can to gum up the machinery of the Trump justice side of the equation. And we got to put a stop to that. Podcast Summary: The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show – Daily Review with Clay and Buck (August 13, 2025)
Introduction to Key Topics
In the August 13, 2025 episode of The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton delve into a range of pressing issues in politics and current events. The discussion spans global economic shifts, domestic crime concerns, media criticism, and internal dynamics within the Democratic Party. Throughout the episode, Clay and Buck blend their analysis with humor and notable insights, making complex topics accessible to their audience.
Global Economic Shifts: The BRICS Summit
The episode begins with Clay introducing the topic of the "Rio Reset," referring to the recent BRICS summit in Brazil. He explains that BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) has expanded by adding five new members, aiming to increase their influence in the global financial order and reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar in international trade.
Buck emphasizes the potential implications of this shift, highlighting concerns about the diminishing dominance of the U.S. dollar.
Clay advises listeners to protect their savings by investing in gold, citing the declining value of the dollar.
Domestic Concerns: Crime in Washington D.C.
A significant portion of the episode focuses on the state of Washington D.C., with Clay and Buck expressing skepticism about claims that the city is safe. They argue that despite official statements, residents do not perceive D.C. as a secure environment.
Buck supports this view by criticizing Democratic opposition to President Trump's efforts to reduce violent crime in the capital.
Media Criticism and Public Perception
Clay and Buck address criticism from MSNBC regarding their stance on crime reduction. Buck defends their position, emphasizing that advocating for fewer murders is a universally agreeable stance.
Clay mocks the criticism by suggesting that their assertive demeanor (referred to humorously as "machismo") has unsettled their critics.
President Trump's Economic Commentary
The hosts discuss recent statements by President Trump on interest rates and their impact on the economy. Trump advocates for lowering interest rates to reduce the national debt and stimulate economic growth.
Buck elaborates on the significance of interest rates for homeowners, highlighting the disparity caused by previous rate increases.
Clay underscores Trump's understanding of economic issues, contrasting it with Jerome Powell's handling of inflation.
Impact of Media and Culture on Political Views
A pivotal segment features the hosts discussing a controversial statement by Jennifer Welch, a Bravo reality star, who made racist remarks about white Trump voters. Clay and Buck explore how such narratives influence the Democratic Party's base, particularly among white women.
Clay criticizes Welch's comments, arguing they reflect a toxic element within the Democratic base.
Buck echoes these sentiments, questioning the rationale behind the anger and misguided beliefs held by certain white women Democrats.
Guest Appearance: Senator John Cornyn on D.C. Safety and Democratic Obstructionism
The episode features an interview with Senator John Cornyn of Texas, who discusses efforts to improve safety in Washington D.C. and criticizes Democratic obstructionism in judicial confirmations.
Cornyn elaborates on the Democratic Party's resistance to confirming President Trump's judicial nominees, describing it as intolerable and citing historical precedents for bypassing such obstructions.
Conclusion and Final Thoughts
In wrapping up, Clay and Buck reiterate the importance of addressing crime and supporting policies that promote safety and economic stability. They express frustration with the current Democratic leadership and emphasize the need for the Republican Party to maintain a unified stance against perceived leftist overreach.
[65:37] Buck Sexton: "We have to put a stop to that."
[66:13] Clay Travis: "This is a big deal... Democrats are doing everything they can to stop it."

Jennifer Welch at [37:35]: "White Trump voters shouldn't be allowed to eat at Mexican or Chinese restaurants. They should only be able to go to Cracker Barrel."
Clay Travis at [41:23]: "They have their value system replaced by leftist stuff... virtue signaling, race, communism, gender identity nonsense."
Closing Remarks
The episode concludes with Clay and Buck emphasizing the ongoing efforts to address judicial confirmation blockades and improve law and order in Washington D.C.
