Welcome in Monday Edition. It is a major news breaking Monday. We hope all of you had fantastic weekends as we predicted going into the weekend. Major news coming from Iran where early, early in the morning US Time on Saturday morning we began to rain down a ton of missiles and attack on Iran alongside of Israel wiping out according to President Trump, 49 top Iranian leaders including Ayatollah Khamenei who had been in charge for decades there. That attack happening in the daylight hours in Iran on Saturday stunning much of the Iranian leadership. Maybe buck, they should have zoomed but instead they all gathered directly together in the daylight hours and now many of them are gone. President Trump is speaking as we are coming on with you live from the White House. And I think the primary question is who will rule Iran. We will get into that quite a lot going forward. But let me go ahead and hit you with the absolute latest comments from President Trump just made in the last few moments in the White house. These are cuts 31. Let's start with this. This is cut 31 as Trump has just updated the absolute latest moments knowledge from Iran.
Donald Trump (audio clips)
Cut 31 Today the United States military continues to carry out large scale combat operations in Iran to eliminate the grave threats posed to America by this terrible terrorist regime. Following our obliteration of Iran's nuclear program and Operation Midnight Hammer a short while ago, we warned Iran not to make any attempt to rebuild at a different location because they were unable to use the ones that we so powerfully blew up. But they ignored those warnings and refused to cease their pursuit of nuclear weapons. In addition, the regime's conventional ballistic missile program was growing rapidly and dramatically and this, this posed a very clear, colossal threat to America and our forces stationed overseas. The regime already had missiles capable of hitting Europe and are bases both local and overseas and would soon have had missiles capable of reaching our beautiful America. The purpose of this fast growing missile program was to shield their nuclear weapon development and make it extraordinarily difficult for anyone to stop them from making these highly forbidden by US Nuclear weapons.
Clay Travis
Okay, let me hit a couple more Buck, then I'll bring you in, get your immediate reaction. CIA was very involved according to reports. 32 Trump lays out the military objectives in Iran Right now our objectives are clear.
Donald Trump (audio clips)
First we're destroying Iran's missile capabilities, and you see that happening on an hourly basis and their capacity to produce brand new ones and pretty good ones they make. Second, we're annihilating their navy. We've knocked out already 10 ships there at the bottom of the sea. Third, we're ensuring that the world's number one sponsor of terror can never obtain a nuclear weapon. Never going to have a nuclear weapon. I said that from the beginning. They're never going to have a nuclear weapon. They were on the road to getting one legitimately through a deal that was signed foolishly by our country. And finally, we're ensuring that the Iranian regime cannot continue to arm, fund and direct terrorist armies outside of their borders. And we thought we had a deal, but then they backed out and they came back and we thought we had a deal and they backed out. I said, you can't deal with these people. You got to do it the right way.
Clay Travis
Okay. And Then last cut, 33, four lost lives from U.S. service members. TRUMP says, we grieve for them and gives you a projected timeline of how long this mission will take.
Donald Trump (audio clips)
Today, we grieve for the four heroic American service members who have been killed in action and send our love and support to their families in their memory. We continue this mission with ferocious, unyielding resolve to crush the threat this terrorist regime poses to the American people. And a threat indeed it is. We have the strongest and most powerful by far military in the world and we will easily prevail. We're already substantially ahead of our time projections. But whatever the time is, it's okay. Whatever it takes. We will always. And we have. Right from the beginning, we projected four to five weeks, but we have capability to go far longer than that. We'll do it. Whatever somebody said today, they said, oh, well, president wants to do it really quickly. After that, he'll get bored. I don't get bored. There's nothing boring about this. Do you agree with that, Peter? I don't think there's anything, Mr. General, there's nothing boring about it. Somebody actually said from the media, I think you'll get bored after about a week or two. No, we don't get bored. I never get bored. I got bored. I wouldn't be standing here right now, I guarantee you that. To go through what I had to go through.
Clay Travis
Okay, Buck, big picture takeaways, did anything surprise you? I think the biggest question is who's going to end up ruling Iran? Right? That's the trillion dollar question at this point.
Buck Sexton
Well, the first thing is he finally did it. Remember that scene in Jurassic park where he sees the dinosaurs? Ian Malcolm, the character who is played by Jeff Goldblum, and he goes, he did it. The crazy son of a. Yeah, son of a gun did it. That's really the feeling that so many of us who have been watching this Iran situation for decades now felt like. And in the best possible way, enough is enough. Trump knows enough about the negotiations with anyone. He knows when he is being screwed around. And he knew fundamentally the Iranians, the Iranian regime, I should say. And it's very important to separate these things. America has no hostility toward the Iranian people per se. In fact, we want much better lives and freedom for all of them. We despise the malacracy, which was essentially an Islamic faction that took over this country and ruined it for 50, 50 some odd years. OK, so we've had enough of that. And Trump came in and said all the deals. The fundamental reality that the Obama administration refused to see, refused to understand, which was, you can't make a deal with these people. Sure, you can negotiate with some terrorists. You can't negotiate with these terrorists. They were not going to abide by a deal because they knew if they got full nuclear capability, then they're North Korea. Then they get to do whatever garbage they want and make the world the worst place in whatever ways they want for the foreseeable future, for generations to come. Because no one is going to take the risk of a major strike on a country with crazies running it with nukes at their disposal. This was the, this was the realization that Trump had and he tried and he tried and he negotiated and he wanted to get a deal. And this is Mr. Dealmaker on the global stage saying, guys, you gotta, you gotta convince me that you're serious about this one. And what he realized was there was no deal to be had. And you know, Clay, how many years has it taken for everyone to go through this? Oh, we got to figure out some. They don't want to make a deal and now they can't. So that's a good thing. Now it's all over for them. Now they are with the 72 virgins, if that's a thing, and they're somewhere else and we have the hope of a better and more prosperous future for the Iranian people. I mean, there were fireworks here in South Beach. And look, I get it, there's a large Jewish community where I live. It's a, I live in a mostly Jewish enclave of Miami beach. And everybody around here was high fiving and think it Was things. It's fantastic. And there were fireworks going off, Clay, in celebration of this strike. And I have to say, so far, look at the people that are involved. Look at the people in charge. You got Secretary Warheadseth, you got Trump, you got into Marco Rubio, a Secretary of State. We're not doing nation building. This is just we're gonna pick apart the tyranny and encourage better things to happen on the ground there. And I think that if that is the mission and they are able to pull this off. Clay, you tweeted this, and I agree with you. Trump is the most consequential president on track to be the most consequential president, certainly since now. I said consequential, not best. Fdr and maybe going back even further, he may be the most consequential president since Lincoln. That's really what we're heading toward right now, my friends. That's the direction this is going if he pulls this all off.
Clay Travis
Look, I tweeted, and I really do think it's been under discussed. I think the assassination attempts that Trump survived, I think they changed him in a profound way. And I don't know what his second term would look like if those assassination attempts hadn't occurred. And I think you also have to plug in the attempts to bankrupt him, the attempts to put him in prison for the rest of his life. I think Trump is operating in a fearless manner, and he is deciding to do things that aren't designed to be good for the next six months. They're designed to be good for the next 60 years. And I mean, I think you can look across everything he's doing, whether it's the ballroom that he is building at the White House, whether it is the ceremonial arch that he is putting in at the White House, heck, the redone Kennedy center that they are rehabbing right now. Those are physical, manifest manifestations in a small way, of the larger global perspective that he's embarked upon. I mean, getting rid of Maduro, getting rid of the Ayatollah, basically ending communism in Cuba in many ways, which is not being talked about very much yet, but that entire communist regime in Cuba, we are right now living through a modern Berlin Wall coming down moment. Now, here are the challenges, as there are great attempts at excellence, the reach can sometimes be unreachable. And that is the. The danger I think that is incumbent right now is he's trying to do great things. And for anyone who tries to do great things, sometimes when you stretch for greatness, there are flaws that emerge in that process. And so I think it's fair to say it's too early. But, Buck, if you look at the June attack in Iran, the takeout of Maduro, Maduro in Venezuela, and the early first couple of days opening moves that have gone on in Iran, they have been basically flawlessly executed. Four lost lives. I wish there were none. But if you had told people that all those things were going to be happening and the cost to American life would be for service members, I think everyone would have said that's impossible. Now, I think, unfortunately, the toll is going to grow. I think for everybody out there, you need to be watching around you. We just saw the shooting that happened in Austin, Texas. Innocent people lost their lives. Crazy people are emboldened by the terror attack. It appears like quite clearly a terror attack. I don't think they officially said it, but the guy had.
Buck Sexton
I'm saying it. I know more about this than the Austin cops looking at it.
Clay Travis
It's a terrorist attack. It feels like very clearly a terrorist attack to me. And so again, we'll open up phone lines, we'll react to you guys. By the way, it's also the eve of the primary in Texas, in addition to that attack that took place in Austin. So there are lots of news stories out there, but Iran is by far the biggest story. I'm, I was gleeful. I'm not going to lie that we took this step because we've seen so many half steps. We saw Obama give the Iranians billions of dollars. To your point, Buck, we knew they weren't actually going to be honest brokers. And so you're just kicking the can down the, down the road if you continue to allow this group to be in charge.
Buck Sexton
All that you had to know about this is the people in charge thought all we have to do is get to the point of double crossing whoever makes a deal with us. Double crossing the international community. Get the full nuclear package going that we, that we want, and then what are they going to do about it? That's the, you know, they only had to screw us over once, and then we have to deal with this for forever, basically. Wait for some internal collapse of a regime that now has nukes. Look at how that's going to North Korea. You see in a lot of North Korean opposition these days. Yeah, it was. Trump has, has likely saved us from decades.
Clay Travis
More of.
Buck Sexton
You have to understand, these are really bad people. These are really bad people in Iran that he killed. And I know that sounds very simplistic to people who think they know a lot about geopolitics. I can speak the geopolitics think tank language and lingo with the best of them. Fundamentally, these are evildoers who had nothing but bad intentions toward their own people, toward the rest of the world, and they've been doing it. We let them get away with nonsense for decades. They have the blood of Americans on their hands in a whole bunch of different ways. And it's a tin pot, crappy country right now. I mean, the regime is. It's actually a beautiful country. And, you know, Iran in 20 years could be amazing. The same way that Cuba in like five years, if they got rid of the people in charge, could be amazing. We don't have to live this way. It's a little bit like the crime thing, Clay. The big revelation is it actually doesn't have to be like this. And the big revelation from Trump is you can just do stuff. You don't have to let the bad guys just keep getting away with it. You can actually do stuff when you're America. So we'll see. Is there a risk? Yeah, of course there's risk.
Clay Travis
Look, Israel US Aligned in the execution of Operation Epic Fury to assure a lasting peace in the Middle East. And right now, you're watching it. You probably saw Trey angst over the weekend on Fox News. The missiles are raining down on Israel. And every time there is that missile alert, Israelis have to run to bomb shelters all over their country. And the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is on the ground helping to build bomb shelters, helping to take care of people in need. That's what they do. They focus on the most, the sick, the elderly, kids, families in great need. And the Fellowship needs your help right now to help ensure that people are safe in Israel. To send support, call 888-488-IFCJ. That's 888488, IFCJ. I have seen the work that the IFCJ does on the ground. It is life changing. Whether it's providing food, whether it's providing shelter from bombs, they are doing the Lord's work there. You can go online@ifcj.org that's ifcj.org one more time. Ifcj.org you ain't imagining it. The world has gone insane. Reclaim your sanity with Clay and Buck. Find them on the free iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts.

From overseas, the Middle east, down into Texas with our man, the czar of talk, Michael Berry, the czar of talk joins us now. Mr. Barry, fantastic to have you as always. First, actually, before we get into the primary, can I just say that's a
Michael Berry
very aggressive opening, very aggressive music you have chosen.
Buck Sexton
Oh, the opening music, we like.
Michael Berry
We like high energy choice, but it's very aggressive.
Clay Travis
Well, let's get the band here. I might see him tonight, actually. Interesting that you admit it, that you bring it up, because I'm doing a big charity songwriting event tonight. Not. Not me, but I'm going. And they typically come out and perform and they are huge fans of Rush. And you probably are not going to be surprised, Michael. And they're fans of this show, too, because they have great taste radio. But a lot of musicians, when you ask to use their music and then they find out what your politics are, they either try to refuse to allow you to use the music, or, as we have seen happen, they start to extort you and how much you're gonna have to pay in order to lose their music. So. So. So they're fine with the politics, but you're gonna have to pay a lot more. And so we wanted to find a band and a song, My Own Worst Enemy, that was a little bit youthful in the 90s. That is a popular song now for a lot of kids coming up. Now it's cycled back as well, but also from people that we knew would never say, hey, we're gonna extort you because we hate your politics. We wanted guys that were behind us squarely in the band. Lit is. So.
Michael Berry
I remember when. When y' all started with them and you kind of explained the choice. I thought it was. It was an inspired choice because it wasn't so obvious. And it is a good. It's good pacing for the show. It's high energy. You know, you guys are young and aggressive and I mean, it says everything you want to say. So anyway, sorry to interrupt you, but.
Buck Sexton
It's okay, Mr. Czar. No, I mean, do you want to also help us figure out how to solve midi's peace and maybe get some good Republicans out of this primary in your state? You know, I don't want to detract from our music discussion, but.
Michael Berry
Sorry, we're talking college football and music, things that you weren't. We could talk about CIA, if that'll make you happy, but that's later this week.
Buck Sexton
No, that's pretty much what everyone's talking about right now. Michael, but let's take you into Texas and tell us about this primary, which is going to be unfortunately a little overshadowed by a lot of bombs dropping overseas. Okay, but big primary in Texas. What are the main races? What are you watching? What are you seeing so far?
Michael Berry
Well, interestingly, you know, what happened in Iran has, is sucking up all the energy in the room. This show, Fox and everywhere else. Right. Because this is what people want to talk about. This is a big deal. But then we had kind of an aftermath shooting in Austin. My son's at ut, as you know. And so every parent of a UT kid and everybody that lives in the Austin area is concerned about this. And the guy's wearing a Property of Allah sweatshirt. So we expect to see these terror cell killings and these sort of reaction killings. So those two things are going to affect a turnout that was expected to be about 40% of our total turnout. So we're watching that very closely because that could mean that the turnout is lower and the late impact is reduced. But the biggest race is the US Senate race where four term Senator John Cornyn, who Trump doesn't care for, did not endorse, called on Trump not to run. He's part of the kind of John Thune, Mitch McConnell and really even Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski cabal. And the Texas base has had enough of him. He has not one, but two strong challengers, Wesley Hunt, a congressman, and Ken Paxton, who's leading the race, who's a Trump beloved attorney general. So we're hoping to bounce John Cornyn and send the swamp a message. We've got another congressman, Dan Crenshaw, who I worked my tail off to get elected in 2018. And he's turned on everybody from Trump to his to his district. And we're hoping to bounce him as well. And it's the only Republican incumbent congressman that Trump didn't endorse in that race, too. So a couple of big themes going on there with the base saying, and much to my delight, that we've had it with the insiders who go to D.C. and promise one thing but vote the other way.
Clay Travis
Michael, a big discussion that we've been having on the program is last week we had a ton of people calling in saying that they were voting in the Democrat primary because they wanted Jasmine Crockett to be the nominee. It seems to me likely, you tell me if I'm wrong, that the Republican nominee is not going to be selected in the Senate because I think it requires over 50%. And as you just said, there are three candidates that are running. So there probably is going to be a runoff in late May. Let me know if I get any of this wrong. Whereas it's likely that the Democrats are going to be picking their Senate nominee tomorrow. So would you advise or tell people not to do it, that they should vote in the. In the Senate on the Democrat side? I know there's a lot of other races, but what have you been telling your audience? How would you analyze that?
Michael Berry
You know, look, from when Rush did operation chaos in 2008, especially in Pennsylvania, it was a blast because we were saying to support Hillary over. Over Barack, which was kind of ironic and a lot of fun. But we already had our Republican nominee. In this case, we don't. And we have a chance to bounce a swamp creature who's a really bad guy. So I tell people, vote in our primary, we're not seeing that number. Republican primary voting is up 25% this time. It's up 250% or a time and a half over what it was the Democrats from 2022. So Democrats are very energized, which is quite odd here. I would like to see Jasmine Crockett win because I think she's a terrible general election candidate. But we have this whole theme Clay, going on. They call it Black girl magic, where you've got these black women who are kind of this type of character who are now running with a huge base of support. But the question is, can they win a general election race? No. They're going to scare the hell out of Texans who are going to say, oh, my goodness, we cannot have Jasmine Crockett as the Senate candidate. But I think Talarico is beatable as well. I want people to vote to beat Cornyn.
Ken Paxton
That's.
Michael Berry
That's my hope. And there are a lot of other races that are really important. We've got some. Some bellwether cases of the base, the Tea Party, the MAGA, the America first versus swamp candidates in the state House, Senate and U.S. congress.
Buck Sexton
What did Cornyn do? We're talking to Michael Barry, Czar of talk. You all know him from. Well, all of his fantastic hours on radio. What did Cornyn do? Or just give us some sense when you're talking about the Swamp Creatures. Right, Cornyn? And do you also put Dan Crenshaw on there? Because, Dan, I gotta say, I don't know Dan Crenshaw. I have no. I've never met him. I don't even think I've ever interviewed him. Maybe once, but I don't. I don't Remember ever interviewing him. No personal beef with him at all. For a wounded Navy SEAL vet to be a Republican member of Congress from Texas and have so many people in the base so really angry at him. There's gotta be something going on, and I can't speak to what it is. I really don't know. All I know is that whenever I see Crenshaw's name pop up among people who are all in on. On maga, I hear a lot of criticism, a lot of he. We can't trust him. What happened there?
Clay Travis
What?
Buck Sexton
Tell me about Crenshaw and Cornyn. Because you're saying it's important to get better candidates.
Michael Berry
I busted my butt to get Dan Crenshaw elected and I have regretted it from three months after that fact. He's turned every Navy SEAL that's public out there, from Sean Rya to David Goggins to Eddie Gallagher, he's turned on them. He's arrogant. His stock trading history is highly questionable when you bring it up. He threatens to sue you, you decease and desist. I've gotten them as well. He was for red flag laws which shocked people. He's had these moments. He screamed at a little girl at a town hall meeting, 10 years old in his district when she asked him about a quote he gave about Jesus Christ being an archetype like Superman and just time after time. I think he's got anger management issues. I think he's got some personal demons, to be honest. And I think he got there and he bought the hype after the SNL moment with Pete Davidson when it went to his head. And he's just. The base doesn't like him. As regards Cornyn, he's been there for 24 years. He's been in public life for 41 years. He's out of touch terribly. In 2024, great example. He called on Trump to drop out of the race and not run. And he said it was time for America to move past Donald Trump. His moment had passed. He's got a real high rating for voting with the Democrats and for Texas Republicans, that's not a good thing. He seems to support Ukraine more than he does Texas. He was against the border wall and openly against the border wall, much like John McCain. Think of John McCain amongst the base and you've got that. He's incredibly out of touch with the base on a number of issues. The anti Trump stuff was bad. He's a red flag guy. He's very, very soft on amnesty and he was against the border wall. I think those things are sort of typical of a guy that's been up there a long time and forgot where he came from.
Clay Travis
We have, we should mention, let me
Michael Berry
give you one other example. He came out and said that he was worried that he that if he didn't win, it was because too many radicals voted in the Republican primary. If you are Tea Party, if you are maga, if you are American, first he considers you a radical. That tells you he's a swamp creature.
Clay Travis
Sorry, we're talking to Michael Berry right now. We should mention we have ken Paxton at 2:30 Eastern. That is next hour. Today we have John Cornyn. We've also reached out to Wesley Hunt. Have not heard back from him. Those are the three primary Republican challengers. We also, Michael Berry, have reached out to Jasmine Crockett and to James Talarico to invite all five Senate candidates on because we are fair and balanced, unlike many late night television show hosts. So just FYI, we have invited everyone on to make their case. So what do you expect? Is my analysis of this likely to be. Let me tell you what I think the data is lining up to show you. Tell me if I'm wrong. Unless Jasmine Crockett gets a huge turnout tomorrow, I think James Talarico is going to be the Democrat nominee. It appears to me that we are going to have a runoff, most likely between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn, which will take place in May. Would you sign on to both of those things as the most likely outcome? And again, we encourage all of you that have not voted in Texas to get out and vote tomorrow.
Michael Berry
I think. I think Paxton leads going into a runoff, which is 10 weeks away. Hard to believe with Cornyn. I think that's the most likely thing to happen. Cornyn and the D.C. swamp did a number on Wesley Hunt. It's been hard for him to keep up. So I think you've got Paxton leading Cornyn going into a runoff. I don't know that the Talarico win is as certain as the Talarico people tell you it is. Every poll consistently had her winning, had her leading by 5 to 12 percentage points. Those numbers are coming out of Talarico's community. And that came after Stephen Colbert jumped in to kind of rescue him and that whole little hoax that they put together there. I think it's still very possible that that Jasmine Crockett wins. In fact, I predict she wins because the turnout level amongst the base, especially amongst the black base, it's going to be heavier than expected. And I predict she wins.
Buck Sexton
Well, if the czar Saith it's such
Clay Travis
the czar make it room for white
Michael Berry
liberals in the Democrat party in Texas any longer.
Clay Travis
And Jasmine Crockett, is it fair to say I said if she's the nominee that there is a 0% chance she could win in Texas. Would you go? You know the state of Texas. Well, is 0% the right number? If Jasmine Crockett is the nominee?
Michael Berry
Texas is the prize for Democrats and Beto o' Rourke was the best candidate they had. Kind of a Gavin Newsom kind of guy that you know can get the young vote and he's cool and he's hip and hopefully you can mobilize blacks. Blacks don't vote for a guy like that. And there aren't enough white liberals and moderates left. So Talarico is still from that mold. He can quote the Bible as to why abortion is good and that thrills them. But I don't think you win come November. And I think that it's still kind of a very polarized and there is just no room left for a white liberal in the Democrat party. Those folks have had to gravitate. White labor, white farmer. They've all moved over to the Republican party. They've had to. The party changed too much.
Buck Sexton
Well, I'm happy to hear that Fortress Texas is holding strong for freedom in America. Although sounds like you're not going to be moving to Florida anytime soon, Czar. That's, that's the only downside to come

And it's crazy. I know for many of you to realize this as it was for me. We're coming up on the 25th anniversary of 91125 years a quarter century since 911 and tunnel the towers is planning the most comprehensive commemoration in history. This May through September. The Foundation Steel Across America tour. Transporting a powerful symbol of reverence and resilience to communities across the country. An authentic steel beam from the World Trade center in honor of the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department who made the ultimate sacrifice. The foundation's delivering 343 mortgage free homes to heroes and their families while continuing their efforts to eradicate veteran homelessness. 911 Institute's educational curriculum is reaching classrooms nationwide with firsthand accounts being shared through the 911 Speakers Bureau. And the foundation's mobile exhibit traveling to communities across America. Tunnel the Towers was created to help our military and families at their time of meet, time of need. They live by a motto, never forget. That means to never forget the sacrifice of first responders. Made on 9 11. Ken Paxton will join us at the bottom of the hour. Other contenders between now and then as well. We have put out invites to everyone. But the biggest story going on certainly right now and maybe for the next several weeks is the war in Iran. We played earlier for you. The latest updates from President Trump, a couple of details off the top, stock market not moving basically flat, oil prices up 5%. That is not a very substantial rise there. So the economic reaction to the war so far has not been incredibly significant. Right now, as we are talking to all of you, something unfortunately that may be very important for many of you out there is to remain aware and vigilant as there is an update right now in Austin, Texas having to do with a what seems like a terror inspired attack on innocent people out on the the night in the bar community when a someone who was wearing a pro Allah and pro Iran shirt decided that they were going to kill innocent people. We'll let you know what the Austin police say about that.
Buck Sexton
I think he also had photos like posters of Iranian leaders in his home. So he's leaving a bit of a clue as to the motivation.
Clay Travis
I think, I think we know what's going on. One might see, yes, positive Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. new York City. The response from people of Iranian descent, immigrants and their first and second generation offspring here has been incredible. President Trump being praised significantly. We haven't talked about the political ramifications of this thus far, Buck, because obviously we're in the midst of a war. But it didn't stop Democrats from immediately lining up, with the exception of of John Fetterman. And here is something John Fetterman posted a few hours ago that I think gets at the crux of this issue. Buck, every member in the US Senate agrees we can't allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon. I'm Baffled why so many are unwilling to support the only action to achieve that empty sloganeering versus commitment to global security. Which is it? I thought that was well said by Senator Fetterman, who has become the sanest of all Democrats. We certainly wouldn't have anticipated this when, when his election was going on, the race was going on. But Buck that kind of gets to it and what I would say in general is a reflective anti Trump policy is we all know, moronic, right? You can't be a hundred percent opposed to basically everything that anyone does. But this is a modern day Berlin Wall moment and I was a kid. You may not have even been born back in 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down. I don't remember at the time Democrats running around saying, oh, we're opposed to everything that's going on with President George Bush senior, the older Bush when he was in office then I remember sort of a universal celebration of the fact that freedom was coming to many countries in Eastern Europe and the wall between east and West Berlin was coming down was seen as the ultimate triumph in our battle against Russia in the Cold War here and again, I understand that a lot of people are not connecting all these things. I think they should be. Venezuela has more freedom than it has had in decades. Cuba is closer to freedom than it has been in decades. And Iran right now is freer probably than it has been in decades already. With a hoped for continued movement towards more freedom. President Trump is taking the most aggressive policies in favor of basic human rights that we have seen in generations in this country. And meanwhile Democrats are lining up and saying after this is just. I do think it's worth mentioning that that just a couple of years ago they were all over campuses demanding freedom for people in the Middle east even though it was freedom in Gaza, which is one of the most restrictive areas on the planet. And Hamas is a terror organization that runs Gaza. Now we have President Trump potentially liberating 90 million people, giving more basic human rights to women around the world. The goal here is than has been done by any president in generations. And Democrats perspective is we can't be in favor of this. They're in an intractable position, it seems to me when it comes to trying to justify their attacks on Trump in this manner.
Buck Sexton
Well, keep in mind it not only would be a huge win for Trump, it would be a repudiation of the single achievement, if you can call it that, of eight years of Obama foreign policy. And Obama is certainly the most remarkable Democrat politician of the 21st century. The most lasting Legacy transformed the country obviously I think made it much worse in a lot of ways. But he didn't matter. He certainly had an impact. His whole Mideast policy was built around getting some deal with Iran. And if Trump can take this in the direction of the mullahs are gone, there's no nuke threat anymore and Iran is going to be a normal country. You know, why can't Iran be a normal country? Think of how many other countries there are around the world. And this is the truth about America for all these people that want to talk about imperialism and look what we're doing. And I know there's a lot of stuff out there right now from the well sometimes there are, there are principled non interventionists and then there are I hate America. So whenever America does something I just oppose it. People too, they're not the same thing. There are people that just don't want us getting involved. They never want Republican Democrat, they don't want us getting involved with other people's stuff. Fine, valid. I understand that there are other people, they congregate on the left who just hate America and this gives them an opportunity to say that everything that goes wrong in the world is America's fault. But Clay, the truth is, you know, the people of Paraguay aren't up late at night wondering if like America's going to invade or bomb them because they're a normal country that minds their own business for the most part and is reasonable with their neighbors and self governing and that's great and that's fine. Same thing with Thailand. You know, same thing with go down the list so many countries and obviously every talk about all these countries in Europe, we don't have to accept that Iran just gets to be this, this hellhole of terror and terror sponsoring and all this other stuff for all perpetuity because we actually don't have to accept that and Trump certainly doesn't. So I think that we are certainly living in remarkable times. It's an exciting period of change. It's also one of caution. As we noted, there have been strikes against US bases. We have lost brave service members. There are going to be lives on our side lost in this process. The question is how many. So that's something else that we have to keep in mind too. So Clay, I think time will tell whether or not this is the most brilliant stroke of military slash diplomacy of the Trump administration or if we are getting ahead of our skis on this one. But I'm feeling pretty good about it. Democrat, the Democrats criticism of it to Your point is not really much more than Trump is doing it. So it has to be bad. And I really mean that. That's it. It doesn't go beyond that. There's not some grappling with the intellectual realities of what Trump has done. And notice that Democrats are perfectly happy to have 90 million Iranians consigned to perpetual fear, tyranny and servitude to a theocracy, as long as it means that Donald Trump doesn't get to get a win. Trump derangement syndrome is real.
Clay Travis
I think this is important, too, and we haven't really talked about it very much. For people out there who saying there's no real plan in place, again, we don't know who's going to rule. I am confident that Marco Rub and Pete Hagseth and JD Vance and President Trump have an idea on that. Also pay attention to the fact that Iran is just haphazardly sending missiles all over the Middle east and striking all these different Middle Eastern countries. And those Middle Eastern countries, by and large, are now allied with the United States. And I think this is so supremely important. But Saudi Arabia in particular, if you go back and you say, why did, why did October 7, 2023 happen? Why did 1200 innocent Israelis get murdered? Why were over 200 kidnapped by Hamas? What was the intent there? They were terrified that the Abraham Accords, which is a peace agreement, a normalizing of relations, was going to expand and include Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia and Israel were basically going to say, hey, we're in favor of commerce. We're not going to allow religious difference to divide us forever. We want to see peace in the Middle East. And Iran, which was funding Hamas, which was funding Hezbollah, which was funding all of these different terror groups around the world that were striking in Israel, but also everywhere else, they said, we can't allow this to happen. And that was one of the reasons, primary reason, I believe, why Hamas attacked when they did. Now, what are you seeing? All these different Middle Eastern countries are allowing the United States and Israel to use their airspace to be able to rain down holy hell on Iran. And there are reports out there that, and that's why we always said, pay attention, not to what people say, but that what they do, that both Saudi Arabia and Israel were encouraging President Trump to take out this Islamic leadership in Iran. Saudi Arabia couldn't say it publicly now that Iran has attacked them. A lot of these other countries have now come forward and condemned Iranian action. And let me read you one comment we'll get. We got a bunch of callers and everything else. But Buck, I've got a friend, Jamie Chadwell is the head coach of Liberty Football. His wife is Iranian and she just posted something that I thought was really good. He tagged me in it on social media. He said people have been inquiring about our feelings about what's going on in Iran. Here's what she said. Honestly, I don't have enough words to describe what it means to us. As well as millions of Persians who sacrificed everything to flee the harshness of the regime, my parents were crying tears of joy on Saturday. Persians all over the world are breathing a sigh of relief for the first time in 47 years. It's not tears of joy over a war. These are tears of a hope and a future for the nation and the people of Iran. It's about having solace. It's declaring justice for the thousands upon thousands of innocent people the Islamic regime has imprisoned, falsely accused and killed. It's for the parents who had to search through hundreds of body bags laying in a yard just to find their deceased child brutally murdered. For only wanting to voice their opinion, to dance in the streets, to not have to cover their hair. For the child who wanted a future for freedom. Please don't ever take your freedoms here in the US for granted. I never understood how people here could despise the US So much, how they could burn the flag, how they could protest against the United States, everything that has been given to them, I guess, because they never had to live a life that took all those freedoms away, signed a hopeful and grateful Persian American. I thought that was well said, because I think that is the immense outpouring of joy that you are seeing. And it goes to. I don't see how you can make this political buck. When I watched in Georgetown, all of these Iranian people, when I watched outside of the White House, the pure joy of their celebration. When I watched it in la, they shut down Wilshire Boulevard. For those of you who know la, filled with a huge, joyful Iranian march in favor of freedom that they want to see in their country. When I saw New York City, the people who have dealt with actual oppression, the people who have dealt with the taking away of their basic human rights, the people who have struggled for 50 years living under this harsh, oppressive, oppressive regiment, they understand what has been done here and they view President Trump as a heroic force for good in the Middle East. And I think that is something that it's going to be very hard if we can manage to change the trajectory of this country in the direction of basic human rights and freedom. It's a transformative move that will echo throughout the middle east for generations to come. So are there challenges? Yes. But I do think that statement really got to the heart of what we're seeing from so many Persians around the world.
Buck Sexton
And think about this too, Clay. What was the alternative? Yeah, the alternative is to keep this dance of bad faith negotiations from the Iranian mullah side going until they get a nuke or until we get tired of it and decide to do what we did. And it's not like things were fine and quiet over there. They have been causing problems all over the region. That's what they do. They. They believe in this. You know, it's the Islamic revolution that they think they are the custodians of. They're not. It's a revolutionary government, the same way that the bolsheviks in the Soviet union Thought of themselves as revolutionaries with global ambitions, I might add. They were colonialist in their mindset, actually. They wanted to expand their authority and their power in the region. They were not looking to mind their own business. And they wanted to wipe Israel off the map. And that was a stated goal of the regime. If the stated goal of your country is to destroy another country, maybe you don't get to be in charge of a country.
Clay Travis
And there's a great line, great line from Pete hegseth where he said they chanted death to America and death to Israel, and Israel and the United States instead brought death to the ayatollah.
Buck Sexton
That is, my line was good, but that line's cold. That line's a good line. It's a good secretary war getting cold. All right. Welcome back in Clay Travis BUCK Sexton show We are joined now by one of the three Republicans who is running for the Senate nomination in the state of Texas. Tomorrow is election day primary voting taking place in Texas, Arkansas and North Carolina. Ken Paxton joins us now. I know you've been running all over the state. What is your message here? Closing moments as many people will be going to the polls tomorrow. I know a lot of people have already early voted. Why should they vote for you tomorrow? Attorney General PAXTON it's simply this.
Ken Paxton
Get it, I get, I get results versus John Cornyn's last 40 years in office. And I've asked in every meeting since April 8, I've asked every single person whether it's one person or 3,000, can you name one single good accomplishment of John Cornyn in 40 plus years in office? And no one's ever given me an answer and I, I respond to say take any two week period of my office, my time in office as attorney general other than Christmas and Thanksgiving, and I guarantee you pick any two weeks. I've done more in two weeks than he's done in 40 plus years. If we want somebody to go up there and fight for us to get stuff, something done for the state of Texas, I'm the guy.
Buck Sexton
Mr. Attorney General, what's top of the agenda? You're telling us that you can get things done. That's great. What are the kind of things that as a senator representing the wonderful state of Texas where we have so many listeners and we're very grateful for all of them, what are the things that you would want to seek to add to your roster of accomplishments in office as a senator this time around.
Ken Paxton
Yeah. So I think President Trump hit it over the fence. He hit it. The most important issue which he asked Congress to pass immediately, which was voter integrity, where we, we protect our elections from mail in ballots. We have photo ID and we make sure that people are citizens. If we can't fundamentally do that, then we are at risk of losing everything else because there are many, many states who are not using photo id, who are having massive mail in ballots we cannot track and we don't have secure elections. And without that, nothing else matters beyond that. I mean, since John Corn has been there. Let's see, the time of George Washington, the time of John Cornyn, 6.2 trillion in debt. Now we're 38 trillion since John's been there. The federal budget is out of control. We've got to figure that out. I'm very interested in what's going on with China. I think they are number one threat. Obviously we've got a RAM right now interested in judicial appointments because I have to deal with them every day. Ted Cruz has done a great job helping the President to make good picks. On the other hand, John Cornish picks have not been so great. So those are just a few of the issues that I care about. There's certainly more than that.
Clay Travis
We're talking to Ken Paxton, Attorney General of Texas. He's running tomorrow in the primary. Let me give you a couple of arguments to respond to we've had on the show so far. One is Ken Paxton can't win in the general. The other is people should go vote for Jasmine Crockett instead of worrying about the Republican Senate race that's going on. Your response to those two, which are two different arguments we've had made today on the show.
Ken Paxton
Well, first of all, I think it's interesting that this is a John corner argument because he can't win the primary. I've won three statewide races over a period of 12 years. So the naysayers, I'm three and, oh, I haven't lost a single race. As a matter of fact, I've won 18 races overall. So it's, it's great to decide now that I can't win a statewide race when I've won three in a row. There's no evidence for this. John Cornyn makes this story up just like he's made up his whole record over the last year. And the reality is if you, if you actually do the polling, which I've seen I do as well or better than him, not, not significantly, but it's not like I do worse. I've every poll I've seen, I've done as well or better than so. And this idea that Republicans should go vote for Jasmine Crockett, I mean, I wouldn't do it because I want to make sure that we have the right person running in the Republican primary to take on the Jasmine Crockett. Let the Democrats sort that out. We're going to be either one of them because we're still a Republican state. We haven't lost a statewide election since 1994.
Buck Sexton
And just to be clear, we had invited on Corn and everyone for tomorrow and we'll see if he chooses to come on at some point here in the near future. But Attorney General Paxton, what's the on policy? You know, I don't know if you guys know each other, you and Cornyn, or not personally. Well, it's not about that. On policy, on decision making, when it comes to wielding the power entrusted to you as a senator by the people of Texas, where are you guys different? Where do you differ ideologically or where do you differ when it comes to how you would actually vote?
Ken Paxton
I think on many things. I give you example, judges budget, but just things like Second Amendment issues where he helped Joe Biden passed one of the most restrictive Second Amendment bills in my lifetime. There's no way that Joe Biden's going to be congratulating me like he did John Cornyn. I would not be out there pushing amnesty like he's been pushing over the last four decade. I would have been for the border wall. Now he suddenly is, but he wasn't for a decade. I've got 15 to 20 clips of him saying we shouldn't do a border wall. On the other hand, he also claims to be a big Trump fan, And yet in 2016, he said Trump was an albatross around our neck. And then in the most recent election, he said that Trump's day had passed and that we should elect somebody else. I was on the Trump bandwagon because I thought he would be the best choice. This guy now suddenly is, but for his entire career he's been in opposition to Donald Trump.
Clay Travis
We're talking to Ken Paxton, AG I know you're running for the Senate right now, but there was the attack that happened in Austin over the weekend. I know there's been a couple of press conferences about that. What can you tell us about that shooting? What do we need to know? What should we know from a Texan perspective on that investigation?
Ken Paxton
I think the most important thing to me is Just what the investigation turns up about connection and whether this guy was operating alone or whether he was part of a bigger plan to do damage in this country. I've been concerned. You know, of course, I sued Joe Biden, what, 20 times, just over immigration. And my biggest concern was this type of thing happening. We opened up our border, we would not be able to vet people we'd not be able to control. And obviously, this guy got his citizenship legally. But it's now a bigger problem than ever because we have so many unvetted people, we don't know where they are. And if I'm an American enemy for sure, I've planted sleeping sleeper cells in the country.
Buck Sexton
It's certainly very concerning, given what we just saw in Austin, that there are likely more radicals who will be activated from within our midst. It seems like the Democrats are just never going to learn the lesson on this. They're never going to understand what that threat actually is in this country. Is there anything that you think needs to be done legislatively differently to address this? Is there anything that you would say, hey, guys, something that would make us safer here at home that we could enact starting in 2027 when I'm in the United States Senate? Is anything come to mind, or is it just enforce the laws we've already got?
Ken Paxton
Well, enforce the laws. Where do you have. But also more resources to start vetting some of these people that came into our country that we haven't tracked down yet, that we need to track down for sure. People like this who could do damage to our country. So I would say more resources to the people that are dealing with the dhs, border patrol, people that the Democrats don't want to fund are the very people right now that we need. Not just less funding, we need more funding.
Clay Travis
It seems clear that you're going to be at least one of the two that advances to the runoff. And we're talking to Ken Paxton. And I know that early voting has been substantial and a lot of people still have to vote tomorrow. What is your anticipation for what will take place tomorrow? There's three primary candidates. One of you will be eliminated. Do you expect that you'll be among the top two?
Ken Paxton
I expect I'll be the number one. And as a matter of fact, I don't know. It's hard to measure from early buddy, but just some of our analytics, I mean, there's. There's. There is a slight possibility, obviously, there's. There's not just two other people, race total of seven others. So there's Eight people. So I tell people it's like playing basketball, seven on one, trying to outscore everybody while they play offense and defense. So it's challenging to get, to get, to get through this without a runoff, but if anybody has a shot at that, it's me.
Clay Travis
If you are first place, runoff, I mean, it's going to cost a lot of money. If you win substantially, should there be just a recognition that you're going to be the nominee and start to focus? Because it does seem likely that Democrats will know their nominee come tomorrow night.
Ken Paxton
Yes. And I say this because already Cornyn spent $100 million, I've spent 3 million, and if I come out on top, the spending on his side needs to stop. It makes no sense. If we care about electing a Republican from Texas and Republicans in Michigan and Georgia and these other states, they gotta stop wasting money on a primary. 100 million is enough. Do not go in on another $50 million to try to make me unelectable, which is what Cornyn said his goal is. I'm make Ken Jackson unelectable. Well, that is, that's great if we only care about electing incumbents, but I thought we were about electing Republicans. And the strategy of spending another 50 million on John Cornyn after he loses the first round makes no sense. If you actually do care about electing
Clay Travis
Republicans, do you think if you win this primary, that President Trump had a rally in Corpus Christi going into the weekend and he chose. I think he basically said, I'm endorsing you and Wesley Hunt and John Cornyn. He said, you know, basically, I'm not picking a side. Do you think when he sees the Texans come out and pick a side, do you think he'll weigh in and say, hey, we basically have our nominee now. What do you anticipate from the White House?
Ken Paxton
Well, you're going to be shocked. I never, I never completely anticipate what the President might do. Know that I've been a big fan of his. I have been a supporter of his since 2016. I was one of two people, Troy Nelson, I were the only two people that showed up elected officials when he announced for president, because at the time, the stances was surging and Trump had all these investigations and indictments, all this stuff. But I do know this. I trust him. He's made a lot of really good decisions. And I'm not going to pretend that I would know exactly what he's going to do, because I don't.
Clay Travis
He is running for Senate tomorrow. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. I Presume you tell everybody, get out and vote. You want big numbers.
Ken Paxton
Well, I'd say get out.
Clay Travis
I think we lost him right there on the charge for everybody who I'm sure he was going to say, get out and vote for Ken Paxton. That is Ken Paxton, Attorney General of Texas. And again, the primary is tomorrow. Get out and vote. If you are listening to us in Texas, as many of you are all over the Lone Star State, and we want to tell you, look, if you want to help make yourself safer, that's what Saber's all about. And they don't just make you safer. They'll make your kids safer, they'll make your grandkids safer, they'll make your home safer, and they do it in a non lethal manner. We have every single one of Saber's products in the Travis household and we have bought them for not only ourselves, but also for our teenagers if they are out and about and might need help. This is just what Saber's designed to do. It's non lethal. Maybe you're like me and you have teenagers, young kids around your house, and you don't know necessarily every time they're going to be in and out of the house. Buck Sexton on Trump’s Iran Strike (08:29):
“He finally did it. Remember that scene in Jurassic Park...he did it. The crazy son of a...yeah, son of a gun did it. That’s really the feeling that so many of us who have been watching this Iran situation for decades now felt like. And in the best possible way, enough is enough.”
Clay Travis on Historic Significance (12:17):
“Trump is operating in a fearless manner, and he is deciding to do things that aren’t designed to be good for the next six months. They’re designed to be good for the next 60 years...we are right now living through a modern Berlin Wall coming down moment.”
Michael Berry on Cornyn and Crenshaw (29:14):
“He [Crenshaw] was for red flag laws which shocked people. He’s had these moments. He screamed at a little girl at a town hall...he’s just. The base doesn’t like him. As regards Cornyn, he’s been there for 24 years. He’s got a real high rating for voting with the Democrats and for Texas Republicans, that’s not a good thing.”
Statement from a Persian-American (45:01):
“Persians all over the world are breathing a sigh of relief for the first time in 47 years. It’s not tears of joy over a war. These are tears of a hope and a future for the nation and the people of Iran.”
Buck Sexton on the Regime in Iran (16:33):
“These are really bad people in Iran that he killed. And I know that sounds very simplistic to people who think they know a lot about geopolitics...Fundamentally, these are evildoers who had nothing but bad intentions toward their own people, toward the rest of the world...”
Clay Travis on the Downfall of the Iranian Regime (51:22):
“There’s a great line from Pete Hegseth where he said they chanted ‘death to America and death to Israel’, and Israel and the United States instead brought death to the ayatollah.”
This episode captures a watershed moment in global and domestic politics. Clay Travis and Buck Sexton, joined by Michael Berry and Ken Paxton, deliver both breaking news analysis and detailed political commentary, focusing on the ramifications of the U.S.-led attack on Iran, the historic nature of Trump’s second-term decisions, and the shifting sands of Texas electoral politics amidst new security concerns. The show presents the events with both urgency and optimism, highlighting the stakes for American leadership at home and abroad.
