Welcome everybody to the Tuesday edition of the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show. Congratulations to the University of Indiana Hoosiers on their glorious victory last night. I was there with Clay watching the national championship game. Our president, Mr. Trump, President Trump was there and it was, it was quite a scene. We'll give you some of the highlights from it. And it was amazing to watch Indiana turn a home game for Miami into a home game for Indiana because that is what that stadium felt like. It was a sea of red. Very polite. I say the Indiana fans are all very nice, very like smiley. And, you know, they turned around. I don't think they realize I'm a Miami native. So technically I'm supposed to be all about Miami. But you all saw that game, I'm sure last night. It was actually very good game. I had Mr. Clay here explaining to me the various players and what was going on. So we had a great time with that. It is the beginning of year two of the Trump administration because it is the one year anniversary of the inauguration. So year one in the books. Some great, some great wins on the board, I think already, which we'll be discussing a bit, and then some other things that are still certainly major challenges to look at, to deal with. And we have Clay today, one of those, I think that we could circle and dive into straight away. Greenland. Yes. Who would have thought, who would have thought that this place that generally doesn't get much in the way of press or thought or anyone talking about it, is quite large and quite sparsely inhabited. Who would have thought that this would become the center of an international imbroglio?
Buck Sexton
Well said.
Clay Travis
I love that. Thank you. Thank you. It is definitely causing a hullabaloo. You have various heads of state who are getting quite huffy and the Wall Street Journal here writing that Trump doubles down on Greenland ahead of Davos arrival. He is making it. He is making it a thing that does not just go away. I do believe at some point we might have to do a show from Greenland and go check out the Greenlanders ourself. But we'll put a pin in that for now here. If you want to know how Trump feels about the whole situation, here it is. This is cut to talking about why does this belong to the people that it has belonged to? Play 2, what do you plan to.
Donald Trump (clips)
Say to European leaders in Dallas when they push back on your Greenland plan? Well, I don't think they're going to push back too much. Look, we have to have it. They have to have this done. They can't protect it. Denmark, they're wonderful people and I know the leaders are very good people, but they don't even go there. And you know, because the boat went there 500 years ago and Then left. That doesn't give you title to property. So we'll be talking about it with the various people.
Clay Travis
Clay, he is not backing off this at all. In fact, he's making it a front.
Buck Sexton
And center issue at Davos, the prediction markets, which are becoming more and more of a narrative defining prospect in pretty much all facets of life. This morning, Buck, I was looking 47% chance that Trump takes control of some part of the country of Greenland. Now, again, that's the way that this is phrased. At some point in 2026, basically 50, 50 when this all started, do you remember when we started talking about this and everybody sort of treated it as sort of a outlandish joke that was not actually in any way likely to occur in. Now we have moved into the could this happen phase. And this is a lot of times what Trump does, right? He throws something out there that people think is outrageous, that they think is outlandish, that they think there is no way it could ever happen. And then he just stays maniacally fixated on, remains in his purview, and he keeps advancing closer and closer to it. And I know he would probably argue this is a part of the art of the deal, because if you start with aggressive posturing that seems highly unlikely, then at some point a middle ground that would have seemed unlikely starts to feel like a compromise position, if that makes sense. And so I, I don't know exactly how this is going to shake out for all the reading that I've done. Buck, the treaty that we have in place with Greenland right now, which was primarily enforced and utilized during World War II and is actually quite expansive in terms of the rights that it would give to the United States in terms of military bases, access to the land. I think what Trump really wants, though, is complete and total control because he wants the long running value of the minerals. I think he's looking at Alaska as the precept when it was initially ridiculed and now ends up looking like a brilliant decision.
Clay Travis
One of the greatest deals of all time. I mean, back in 1867, Louisiana Purchase, probably the greatest land deal in all history, I think that's fair to say.
Buck Sexton
Yes.
Clay Travis
Seward's Icebox, which is what they called. Or Seward's Folly, called it both. Yeah, I knew he was gonna.
Buck Sexton
It was close enough to the Civil War that I'm on top of it.
Clay Travis
I was gonna say Civil War. Clay over here is gonna. Not gonna let that one slide. But that was also one of the best land deals ever made. And this Is this is, I think a pretty straightforward process because here's the problem that the Danes have with all this. By the way, they used to call it Thule Air Base in Greenland. That's the US Space base that's there. I'm sorry, now it's Pituffic. Never heard of it before. Space base, Pitufic Space Base, formerly Thule Air Base. So it was, I guess it was an air force base and now it is a space force base. But so we do have a military presence there. You've got, you know, space surveillance missions for norad, stuff like that. So you've got US Air Force, Space Force, civilian contractors, couple hundred troops there. So on a landmass that size, a couple hundred troops is tiny, tiny situation. He wants sovereignty to your point, he wants the ability to do whatever America thinks is in its interest there. When it comes to defense, when it comes to minerals, it comes to, you know, there's some people who argue at some point glaciers and access to that fresh water could become more interesting and important. I think that's quite a ways in the future.
Chris Stapleton Ad Sponsor
Future.
Clay Travis
But I'm just saying these are the things that are under consideration and he's pushing this. The Europeans did something that I thought was silly and Trump was asked about this last night. Remember he was at the game and he, as he does, spoke to, spoke to members of the press yesterday. Here he is. This is cut three because NATO sent token forces to Greenland as some kind of. Yeah, it's ours. Back off. Like a brush back pitch. But it did not have the intended effect. Play 3.
Donald Trump (clips)
Threats is important to you. Why are you upset about NATO allies thinking that, you know, more seriously in Greenland by holding military exercises? Well, that wasn't a military. They sent a few people and they say they sent them not for me, but me to guard against Russia. But you know, NATO's been warning Denmark for about 20 years now. Longer than that, 25 years they've been warning Denmark about the Russian threat. And it's not only Russia, it's also China. So we'll see what happens. But let's put it this way, it's going to be a very interesting Davos.
Clay Travis
Very interesting Davos. By the way, I've never heard that phrase before. I've certainly never heard it from Trump. Clay, th. He's making this the front and center issue for this, this conference going on in Switzerland this week of, of international who's who and what's what.
Buck Sexton
Yeah. And look, I don't know if you saw this, but I know we have the audio because I was just checking to make sure Gavin Newsom is at Davos right now. And here is Gavin Newsom. I'll play this for a sec. But first, Buck, did you see Emmanuel Macron address Davos wearing sunglasses?
Clay Travis
This is like the Bono thing now. Bono has some eye condition, they say, so he has to wear red sunglasses all the time. All the time. Is that what. Is that what this guy's gonna say? Sunglasses indoors? You need an explanation.
Buck Sexton
I. Did McCrone's wife slap him again? Remember we saw when he was about to get off the. The plane and she grabbed him in the face and they were like, oh, we were just joking. Haha.
Clay Travis
Maybe McCrone's wife is stronger than people think.
Buck Sexton
Yeah, maybe. So here is Gavin Newsom might have quite the right hook. Gavin Newsom saying a. He's calling out world leaders. California's governor has Traveled to Davos. Cut 19. This was a little bit earlier today.
Gavin Newsom (clip)
It's time to get serious and stop being complicit. It's time to stand tall and firm, have a backbone. I've seen this in the United States, the supine Congress playing both sides. You know, say one thing on a text or tweet another publicly, should you? It's time to stand tall. Does that mean we're supposed to stand united? You make that determination. I don't make that determination. But when you say standing collective, what do you mean?
Clay Travis
Just.
Gavin Newsom (clip)
I can't take this complicity, people rolling over. I should have brought up a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders. I mean, handing out crowns and handing. I mean, this is pathetic. Nobel Prizes, they are being given away. I mean, it's just pathetic. And I hope people understand how pathetic they look.
Clay Travis
There's your Democrat 2028 nominee. I. Are there already bets being placed on this one? Because I feel very confident, Democrat side.
Buck Sexton
When I saw it. First of all, Gavin Newsom feels like he's playing evil Keanu Reeves. When I hear him talk now, it just sounds like he's an actor pretending with that voice. Maybe he's got a little bit more of a cold than normal. I guarantee you, Buck, that Gavin Newsom has been furious that Tim Walls and Jacob Fry in Minneapolis have managed to push themselves into the chief opposition to Donald Trump. And they have knocked him off the newspaper front pages outside of the opens of television shows. And I think he made a calculated decision, by the way, saying world leaders are in knee pads. It's a visual that even for evil.
Clay Travis
Keanu coming off the slopes, where by the way he's a triple black diamond guy.
Buck Sexton
Even for Gavin Newsom, that's a pretty aggressive take. And I will say there's a lot of public condemnation from Donald Trump, from European leaders, and they say all sorts of things, but he's not wrong about when they actually see him face to face. There's never any opposition that is brought to bear direct, if that makes any sense. So I'm curious if that might change at all at Davos, whether we're going to get any fireworks starting tomorrow.
Clay Travis
But it's apparently pronounced Thule Air Force Base, which I didn't know. But some of these, some of these pronunciations, because they're localized, can be very tough. Like in Turkish, it's Ingerlik, not Insirlik.
Buck Sexton
So, you know, I have no hope to pronounce any of these words. I'm not even gonna.
Clay Travis
Yeah, that's the big Turkish air base we got going on. So anyway, yeah, my green, I guess they speak Greenlandish or something, because the native. I'm not talking about. Obviously there's people there that speak English and they speak Danish, but I think that they must have a native. The real. The people of Greenland, if you're talking about the overall, like, population there are essentially, like what we would think of as Eskimos.
Buck Sexton
Yes.
Clay Travis
And I know that the Eskimos one. And there's Inuit and there's all these other. And our Alaska affiliates in our listeners. You guys know all this stuff. I don't, but they're. That's what they are. They're like a sort of a native peoples, mostly. So this also raises the question, though, of if they want to go, who's to say? No, this is really the fundamental question that I think Trump raises here, which is, look, I don't think Trump is being. He's posturing a little bit. We're not sending in a Marine Expeditionary Force to like, seize Nook, which is the capital city. Ok, we're not. Yes, and maybe I'm pronouncing that one wrong, too. I'm working on my Greenlandish, but we're not going to do that. But we are going to make a deal or we're going to negotiate a deal. That's what Trump is saying. There's only 50,000 people here. This isn't that hard. Yeah, 50,000 people. This is like a. This is a small mayor's race kind of election in America. This is not some big challenge in terms of if these people, Clay, if they want sovereign, you know, if they want to take their sovereignty and put it into America's hands at some kind of an agreement. Who is Europe to say no?
Buck Sexton
They can't. And I mean, I think that's where this negotiation is going to go. There is an opportunity potentially for each of those natives of Greenland to be paid just straightforwardly in certain dollar figure. I don't know what it is. 200k, 100k US maybe they want gold. And if they vote to allow themselves to be connected to the United States, they become a territory. And look, the territorial law is quite clear. I'm a lawyer still in the U.S. virgin Islands Territory you've talked about Guam. I didn't know that territorial law would necessarily be that useful. But United States Virgin Islands is the last place that the U.S. purchased with gold, $25 million in gold in 1917. And so there is historical precedent and court law that deals with how territorial law is applied and, and Greenland would clearly be able to fit within that category.
Clay Travis
Yeah, it's just interesting to me as well because you have these Europeans who are saying Greenland is not for sale. Says a bunch of guys hundreds and hundreds of miles away in a different continent, a different people, a different, you know. Says who? Yeah, I think it's now they could say, oh well, under agreement with the eu. Ok, well, Trump is saying let's amend that agreement, let's amend that agreement based upon who will look, if it's very clear, the green land, the Greenlanders. That much I think I did get right. I was going to say the Greenlandians.
Buck Sexton
I'm sure we found out all about.
Clay Travis
What is Minneapolis Minneapolitan. No one, no one from Minneapolis calls himself a Minneapolitan.
Buck Sexton
We got absolutely deluged with people saying that. That was a totally made up. Oh God.
Clay Travis
Oh gosh. Neapolitan. No way.
Buck Sexton
By the way, as we go to break a little bit of breaking news for you guys. Trump is going to join a White House press briefing on the one year anniversary of his inaugur configuration with Caroline levitt in about 40 minutes from now. So I bet that we will be getting a lot of news from that and maybe we'll go take it live as well.
Clay Travis
Yeah, the Trumpster, I think, I think that's a very high probability. You're going to be hearing them live here on the show. All right. The California gold rush is a rich part of our nation's history. The stories of people going west to seek their fortune. There have been books about this, movies, TV shows. But now that's cool, right? It's not what owning gold is about in 2026. It's not a get rich quick tactic. You're not out there in some stream panning for it yourself. This is a smart financial strategy for diversification, taking a long term view of how to have a store of wealth that can actually grow in value over time. Look, here's some facts, very straightforward. Last year gold's up 60%. You may say, okay, well that's just one year. Over the last 20 years gold is up 700%. So if you invested 20 years ago you would be up over 7x in dollar value to that gold. This is why Birch Gold Group wants you to check out gold today. This is about the long term. It's your turn to buy some gold until February 1st. If you're a first time gold buyer, Birch Gold Group is offering a rebate of up to $10,000 on qualifying purchases. I just bought more gold from Birch Gold myself. It is on the way to my home as we speak. Because I'm a believer in gold. Welcome back in, Clay. Travis Buck Sexton show. I bet that many of you were watching the game last night when during the national anthem they showed President Donald Trump on the Jumbotron inside of the stadium. And this is what it sounded like at the Twilight.
Donald Trump (clips)
Lastly.
Buck Sexton
That was President Trump on the Jumbotron. It definitely feels, I don't know if you felt the vibe, Buck, but it's cool to be patriotic again in a way that when I go to sporting events, you know, we had the whole kneeling controversy and everything that was taking place, it's just vanished. And it feels like there is. And I think America 250 can be a big part of this, but sort of a cultural upswing in much of the country of, hey, America's an awesome place. Let's be proud of our country's history in a way that certainly we haven't been recently.
Clay Travis
All very true. And it was a lot of fun last night, Clay. What time you get home last night, buddy?
Buck Sexton
Late night. Very late night.
Clay Travis
A lot later than Buck and Kerry, that much I can tell you.

Well, I think I have a lot of messages for Davos, but the primary message is how well the United States States is doing. And I say it all the time. A year and a half ago we were a dead country and now we have the hottest country in the world. I mean your beneficiaries do you look, some of you have 401ks. You don't have to tell me. Your numbers are the best they've ever been. And the stock market's at an all time high. It's, we are just doing great. So I think the message in Davos, we're leaving have an interesting time. We have a lot of meetings scheduled. But the message for Davos is how incredible our country is doing.
Clay Travis
That's the message for Davos. That's something we've heard from Trump plenty of times at this point. And it is at the one year anniversary of Trump's inauguration. I think, Clay, there's a lot to, a lot to celebrate in the first year of what Trump was able to accomplish. The biggest thing is the securing of the border, which for as long as I can remember, I mean, going back to when I was in college and, you know, writing editorials for the college Republican newspaper or magazine, we had, you know, it was always all the border, it's too, it's too chaotic. A wall won't work, nothing will work. Another, no, actually it's, you can secure a border just like a lot of other countries all over the world. I might, I might add, do you think there was ever a moment where China was like, you know what we can't do? Prevent people from just walking into our country illegally and staying forever? You know, there's a lot of places you think Russia has that problem. Now, I know you'd say a lot of people don't want to go to those countries, but if that was happening, trust me, they'd find a way to prevent people from illegally entering. So would a whole lot of other places. So it is possible to do. That's a huge win. The enforcement on immigration is a huge win. The economy, I think is, is very strong. And there's a lot of things that people right now are still focused on that I think are central to the Trump administration plan. Have not been able to get quite where we want to go. But I think it's worth noting on the economy, everyone's not going to be happy with the economy no matter what happens. There's never been a time that I can think of in human history when everybody in a, in a country, or let's just say in American history, when everyone goes, you know, what economy is perfect? No, no, there's no problem because your life isn't perfect and nothing is going to be perfect. So based on the relative metrics we can look at, prices are high. That's because of COVID and Biden overspending, they're dealing with that. Gas prices, low, stock price, fantastic growth, explosive. You go down the list on these things. Tariffs, not actually destroying the economy, bringing in hundreds of billions of dollars. You go through all these things, Clay, and when Trump is saying we're the hottest country, I mean, there's a lot of real factual basis that he can point to for this. It's not just bluster, it's Trump actually pointing to what's happened.
Buck Sexton
There is a real challenge in making people feel like the economy is good and that is because Biden was so bad. And there is a hangover effect that continues to linger. And here is the challenge. It's really a communication issue. How do you communicate it? And Trump is going to talk at 1, and I bet he talks about this quite a lot because if you say the economy is good and you just hit all those things, I was just writing them down and I might circle back up again and hit this at the top of the next hour, but third quarter GDP was 4.3% buck gross domestic product growth expectations are we could hit over 5% at the beginning of 2026. 2.6% core inflation, 2% is the target. 2.6% is a four year low. Record murder decline. I mean D.C. unless, and I'm probably jinxing it, is approaching a 12 year, 13 year, 13 years since they've gone this many days to start 2026 without a murder. We've got a record fentanyl death decline, that is the number of people that are overdosing and or being poisoned by fentanyl is collapsing. We have a 100% secure border the likes of which we've never had in the history of any of our lives. Mortgage rates have dropped by around 1% to start to come back and thaw out the housing market. Overall, we've got record high stock price prices, gas prices at 4 year low. I understand when those of you out there are saying, yes, Clay, that can all be true, I don't feel it yet. And that's the challenge, Buck, because the data is all there moving in a very positive direction. But because of the Biden economic hangover, it takes a while for people to start to feel that in their own life. Now, if you're fortunate enough, as many of the people out there are who are listening to us right now, to have a 401k, to have money in the stock market, you feel that, right? You look at the valuation and you say, oh wow, my net worth in the stock market is at a record high. If you are pulling up at the gas pump and you live somewhere other than California, pretty much, or a crazy left wing jurisdiction that has artificially skyrocketed the price of gas you're standing at the gas pump saying, oh, wow, four year low. Like, I can fill up my car in an affordable fashion. If you're walking around in a lot of streets in a lot of cities right now, Memphis, Tennessee, in my home state, buck super safe. You were talking about this. We're in Miami right now. We were talking with some of the Florida state officials last night at the game. We got to hang out with a bunch of them and talk with them. The data on Florida when it comes to safety has basically never been better. Miami is one of the safest big cities in America. We were talking with some people and they said Orlando's a little bit of a challenge in Florida because they're not getting a lot of help. It's still a bastion of the Democrat Party. But overall, everywhere is just getting safer when you're letting federal government and Trump get involved. And so how do you make that story, how do you communicate that story as we come up on the midterms without sounding out of touch for people out there who are saying, well, groceries are still really expensive, Clay or man, when I pay for things, they still cost too much. It's the hangover of Biden. And this is why historically I went back and I said, for some of you guys out there that are able to remember this, how long did it take after Jimmy Carter before you started to say, okay, Ronald Reagan knows what he's doing.
Clay Travis
Right.
Buck Sexton
By 84, everybody was decided, we got a 49 to 1 landslide. Mondale only won, what, Minnesota. Right. So if you're thinking about that and working through it, then I think it's going to potentially, unfortunately take longer than 26. I think by 27, 28, everybody's going to understand, oh, wow, this economy's cooking.
Clay Travis
That's totally right. I think there are the places where you're hoping that Trump can change the trajectory versus the issues, where he can just get the full blown W. For example, on the border plays into this perfectly. The economy, I think, you know, also is, is certainly in this category. But securing the border, that's done. He did that. So now we know going forward, no matter what Democrats say, when they try to reopen the border, which they will, when they try to flood us with more illegals from the third world, which they will, we'll know. Ok, so this is the game they're playing and they're lying to us and everybody will know they're lying, not just people that pay attention, but on deportations, Trump's not going to be able to deport 20 million people in four years. He's not. And that's not a criticism. It's just. There's just too many people. There's too much going on, too many legal fights or whatever. But if he shows that you can have between deportations and self deportations, 4 million, 6 million, 8 million, and you know, the numbers are looking like that's what it can go to by the end of his four years will be one in a much better place with it. But also it shows what is possible.
Buck Sexton
Right.
Clay Travis
So this is on the economy. It's like, is he going to be able to bring housing prices down to where everybody feels great about housing prices? It's a market and I mean, there are reasons why the housing prices are high. The part of it that feels manipulated and. Well, there are a few things that feel manipulated and problematic. It's the buying up by the big, big companies, the high interest rates, obviously, which is a government decision, but that's because of inflation, which is a government decision. So some of those manipulations of the housing market cause problems and the frustration about that is very valid, but it's going to take time to work through some of those issues. So what I'm saying is bringing housing prices down the trajectory, the trend is your friend. The trajectory is what matters. And I think you should be judged on that because I'm not even sure it's clear, like what people feel like is the best. Yeah. Where should housing prices? When is everyone going to be happier? 80% of Americans going to be happy about where housing prices are? So the only thing that I think can change all that up in a way that we haven't really anticipated is the march of AI and technology and how the great increases in productivity and efficiency that should be coming online here soon. Look, if what Elon Musk says, for example, like health care. Health care is another perfect example of this. Right, Clay, he can do some things to add transparency, bring down costs. He cannot fix 60 years of terrible health care policy in a year.
Buck Sexton
Right.
Clay Travis
It's just not possible. So he's doing things that move in the right direction, but also if we.
Buck Sexton
Do have optimus robots.
Clay Travis
I never bet against Elon. Like, I think Elon is the most amazing CEO and you know, the richest man in the world for a reason. This is not some.
Buck Sexton
He may be the greatest capitalist in the history of the world.
Clay Travis
Yes, he's he. What he does is his ability to break through seemingly impossible problems at scale as a leader and a manager of corporations and to implement his vision, you know, there's nobody else who could, who's been able to do what he can do. He runs so many companies, you can't even keep track of all them. And they're all changing the world. Okay, it's not a big Elon infomercial, but it's pretty incredible what he's done. He says optimus robots, Clay certainly within. And I forget what show he said this on. I'd give him a hat tip. But he said it recently. It was a clip. Certainly within five years and maybe within three years will be better at surgery than any surgeon on the planet currently.
Buck Sexton
Yeah, that's wild to think about. And I mean, what he has said basically to your point is with Doge, he had the idea we need to cut spending in order to balance the budget. He basically threw up his hands.
Clay Travis
Not going to happen. People don't want to cut it.
Buck Sexton
The only way to balance the budget and start to pay off our national debt is to grow our way. Yes, you have to get 5, 6, 7% GDP, which sounds extraordinary, but Elon said recently, Buck, that he thinks we could get to 10% GDP. And for those of you who don't understand how transformative that would be if we got to. I really think the math on this is if we got to around 6% GDP next year, again, that would be incredible. If we did it, the budget would get very close to being balanced.
Clay Travis
Absolutely.
Buck Sexton
And so that's a. In one year, it's pretty transformative change.
Clay Travis
It's funny because people used to the mockery from the left about Reagan was, you're going to grow your way out of the debt. Well, with technology and with some of these advances, I think it's more clear than ever that we could be in for exponential, exponential gains in productivity. By the. I know that this. There's going to be dislocations from this as well. There's going to be, you know, what happens, like we love our truckers on the show. What happens with autonomous driving the next five to 10 years? Like, there's a lot of things that.
Buck Sexton
Are going to have to get worked out.
Clay Travis
And we're going to as a society and as a people, the American people are going to have to deal with and figure out. But back to the optimist robot for a second. Think about how that changes the game with health care. Cause right. Right now, everyone knows this. Who's just dealt with this. You can go in. I'm still getting bills for the baby that we had.
Buck Sexton
Oh, yeah. Almost a year ago. Had no idea what it Was.
Clay Travis
And I'm like, what is this? You know, like, oh, $1500 for Tylenol.
Odoo Ad Sponsor
Okay.
Clay Travis
Like, for carrot. You know, whatever. That's not what it is, but you get it. Like, whatever it is they're sending me, I'm just. Pay it, pay it, pay it. I don't even know if I was illegal, they wouldn't even send me in a bill. But that's a whole other thing. But, you know, if you go in for surgery, you can be in network. And they've. They've changed this practice in a lot of hospitals now. I think they might have even outlawed this. But, Clay, it used to be that you could be in network and an anesthesiologist comes in who's not in network, and because the anesthesiologist did the anesthesia, you get a bill for $100,000. Yeah, that has happened to people. Okay, so you're like, I'm in network. It's covered. Oh, wait, they changed up my anesthesiologist while I'm literally on the operating table. When you have optimist robots, this whole. This changes. And I know this sounds like futuristic kind of pie in the sky stuff. It is. It is happening right now. I have friends who I had dinner with a weekend ago, last weekend, and they got on their Tesla and they pressed a button and it took them home.
Buck Sexton
Oh, yeah.
Clay Travis
And I'm like, it's really that easy? They said, yes, it's really that easy. It took them an hour on the highways and everything. They barely. They didn't do anything.
Buck Sexton
I have teenage boys. And for those of you out there who know what the interest rates are. Sorry, insurance rates are for teenage boys, this could be utterly transformative in terms of safety. 40,000 people a year die in car accidents. But for young kids, what you have to pay to insure them, to protect them. I'm thinking a lot about just having autonomous vehicles for my boys while also teaching them how to drive. But I think it's way safer, I'm telling you.
Clay Travis
Also, within a short period of time, a lot of people are going to say, I just want the top AI Health, you know, AI Health algorithm with like a physician assistant or a nurse or something, a nurse practitioner.
Buck Sexton
Like, I don't want to wait two.
Clay Travis
Months for the doctor, because what I'm getting actually with the tech, plus maybe a human to kind of help me maneuver some of it just as good. Yeah, we're not far from that at all right now. You want to talk about health care costs, housing costs, how far Are we from automated building in a way more expansive now you're still going to need human beings on site. It's. It's all about accelerating human productivity. It's not going to, we're not going.
Buck Sexton
To live in a world where robots.
Clay Travis
Do everything although that'd be kind of fun. But it's about making it more productive because otherwise. Yeah. Talk to people about Clay about not spending the money that we're spending on auto spending that it doesn't happen. We don't want to do it as a country. We just don't want to do it. That's what Elon found out and that's the truth.
Buck Sexton
Here's an early prediction that may sound stupid but go figure. I think within a decade a lot of people will be drive not driving cars anymore. And I think within a generation driving cars is going to be a bit like riding horses where you might do it for fun but or even stick shift.
Clay Travis
Think about that. My older brother is an enthusiast who still still drives stick shift. He chooses stick shift cars. I said and some of you are going to write it. I love my stickers. I'm like what?
Buck Sexton
My brother in law would rather drive long distances on vacation than fly. Like he loves it. He worked at Ford for 30 some odd years and driving is one of his favorite things. But I think it's going to become like horseback.
Clay Travis
I like those. I was riding one in Taiwan. I big vans that, that have like the giant like first class airline seats that give you the massage and I just get to zone out. I'm not, I'm not a driver but I'm a very safe driver. You can ask.
Buck Sexton
Well, you drive eight miles an hour very well.
Clay Travis

Buck as there's going to probably be a lot of news coming out starting tomorrow from everything that Trump is going to do.
Clay Travis
Yeah, this press conference is going to be Trump horrific, I can tell you that much. He's going to let it fly because he wants to put all these other world leaders before he goes to Davos on notice and you know what he's going to manage. The only thing anyone's really going to care about in Davos is what Trump's talking about. And what Trump's going to be talking about is Greenland. Somehow he bends the world to his will. Once again we'll bring that to you as it happens. So stick around with us.

Date: January 20, 2026
Hosts: Clay Travis and Buck Sexton
In the first hour of this episode, Clay and Buck unpack the state of the nation after one year of Donald Trump’s second administration. The show weaves together lighthearted commentary from last night’s college football championship, serious political analysis about the ongoing dispute over Greenland, and a close look at America’s economic rebound after what they term “Biden’s economic hangover.” The conversation ranges from the strategic calculus around U.S.–Greenland relations to metrics reflecting the current strength of the U.S. economy, debates about national mood, and the emerging potential (and challenges) of AI and automation.
| Timestamp | Speaker | Quote / Moment | |:----------:|:-------------|:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 05:20 | Donald Trump | "They have to have this done. In summary:
This episode intersperses humor and earnest policy analysis to explore Trump’s bold international maneuvers, especially around Greenland, and the domestic economic bounce-back dubbed the “Biden economic hangover.” The hosts highlight substantial improvements in economic metrics, border security, and American cultural confidence, while contending with the challenge of changing public perception and the coming wave of AI-driven transformation. The hour ends teeing up further coverage of Trump’s live briefing and the world’s eyes on Davos.
