He's on an adventure and he'll be back tomorrow. We have a lot of news to dive into with all of you. Things heating up in Mexico after a very senior prominent evil cartel boss was taken out in a joint U.S. mexico operation. We shall discuss that. We've got a whole lot of reaction to the incredible win of our American national ice hockey team. Gold medal winners beat Canada. I do feel sort of sad for Canada because you would think this is the one thing where they would believe that they should be able to this maple syrup, perhaps certain beer brewing contests, moose sighting and yes, hockey. But it turns out that we are number one at least for this go round at the Olympics. Gavin Newsom was speaking to a predominantly African American crowd in Georgia and said some things that are getting a lot of attention for him. Not the kind of attention that I think he wants. President Trump hosted the hosted a range of angel families at the White House. People who lost loved ones to crime committed by illegal aliens. We'll talk about that for sure. And we will get into a whole bunch of other things as well too. Want to hear from all of you. I wanted to thank you all and ask you to keep going. Of course. Manufacturing delusion. All weekend people are sending me emails. We'd read the book, go give some reviews on Amazon. If you read the book, please. We got up to number four on Amazon last week. Let's get it back into that Amazon top 10. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, it's a good book. You will enjoy reading it. It is actually worth your time and I think you'll really like it and you'll want to even maybe give it to a friend or a family member. So go Get a copy of Manufacturing Delusion. While, while, while you can. I mean, hopefully you can for a long time, but do it now. Do it now. All right, the Olympics. Let's talk about this. This is a great moment here. US Hockey player Jack Hughes after scoring the game winning goal in overtime. Cut eight. Play it. This is all about our country right now. I love the usa. I love my teammates. It's unbelievable. The USA hockey brotherhood is so strong and we have so much support from next players. And I'm so proud to be American today. This is what we want to see from our Olympians in general. I know that there was a departure from this, of some of the. What was it like downhill skiers or something? This kind of patriotism, love of country. It's a great moment for this team. It's a great moment for, for all Americans who were watching and celebrating with them. And it's what, the first time that we've won this since 1980. Is that right? You know, we have two super hockey fans on the Clay and Buck staff. Two super hockey fans, producer Greg and producer Mark. I want to let them weigh in on this because they watched every second of this game. They watched all the ice hockey in the Olympics. They love their NHL. They love their Olympic hockey. And so here from two guys who, because I'm very happy for America and for the patriotism of it, I didn't even know that hockey was going on. So I'm always going to be honest with you. I wasn't even aware until the game, the final was happening that there was anything even to speak of. So I'm bringing you some expertise courtesy of the Clay and Buck team. This is producer Greg Play listener, talk back A deal. A big win yesterday by Team USA Men's hockey was great. It was such sweet revenge over last year's Four nations nations tournament where Canada beat the USA 3, 2 in overtime. The Olympics are a much bigger stage than the four nations tournament. Anyway, we're also really proud of USA women. Way to go.
Clay Travis
Gold medal of there as well.
Buck Sexton
Usa. Usa. Usa. That's to all you poutine eaters up north. I did see some pretty fun memes of like an American bald eagle with its talons just crushing a Canada goose, which is, I think very apropos for what we just witnessed. Producer Mark, also a super hockey fan on our team. He waited. These guys are jumping for joy all, all throughout the the night after this big win. Play Lister Talk pack B. Hey, Buck. Producer Mark here. It must be an important hockey story if you're actually talking about it on the air. Just a monumental victory for, for Team USA yesterday to win the gold medal. One of the best hockey games I've ever seen. As a person who's watched hockey his entire life, just to see the best of the best in the NHL face off against each other for their countries, it was incredible and a great chance for everyone to see how great of a sport hockey is on the national scale. And I hope it translates to more people watching hockey down the line. So glad that Team USA was finally able to win gold for the first time since 1980. It was awesome. I did love the celebrations. It's really fun as an American to see your country represented so well. And as actually at producer Mark's recommendation that I watch the miracle movie, which I had to admit, even as a non hockey watcher, that's a. That's a really great movie. Really great movie and a great story. So there's been some phenomenal sports stories this year. Clay is out today. Our sports guy's out today. It's a shame, but we've had some phenomenal sports moments. Whether it was the Hoosiers winning the football national championship, ncaa, or now the gold medal by the US Men's hockey team. So great stuff there. Congratulations to. Oh, and I'm sorry, the ladies won the gold medal as well, which is also very exciting. I do not know that much about women's hockey, but I do know that the gold medal is very impressive and they should be very pleased with themselves. So I like starting off with a good story when we can, because when we start talking about the cartels and stuff here, it's going to get. It's going to get a little bleak. That's some very tough stuff going on down there in Mexico. Oh, something else from over the weekend. Yeah. Now we're taking the hard turn. We celebrated. I wanted to start you off on this Monday with amazing usa USA Hockey win. Incredible. Some other stuff happened over the weekend, though. An intruder was shot and killed at Mar a Lago here. Secret Service, this is cut 4. Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Rafael Barros talking about what happened here. Play for the individual was armed with a shotgun in a possession of a gasoline canister. Agents and the deputy discharged firearms to stop the threat. At this time, no law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident. We want to be clear the President of the United States was not in the state of Florida and this remains an active investigation by the FBI. So shot and killed, as I understand it. I actually know some folks who are at Mar a Lago when this happened. You can imagine it's quite a. I'm sure if you were anywhere on the grounds, you would have heard the gunfire. So, yet again, I mean, this is a president who has had. Who's been shot, who has had another very close call assassination attempt and continues to be under this, this threat from these maniacs in a way that no president before him that I can think of has, certainly not in my lifetime. I know Reagan was shot. You'd have to go back to Reagan. For somebody who's been under this level of, of threat from maniacs would be assassins, political hitmen, all of the above, and just say a prayer, spare a prayer for Trump and his family and the Secret Service and everybody around them. And they dealt with this quickly. The guy had a shotgun. I think he scaled a fence. He's on the grounds of Mar a Lago, and they engaged the threat and the guy was killed. There's reporting out there that he was obsessed with the Epstein files released. That's all that I've seen so far on him. I'm not even clear really what that means other than this is a guy who was spending way too much time on that. But this is a president who is someone that is defining a political era, really defining an era of American history and doing things that, yes, you and I can sit here and talk about how powerful they are and how much they benefit the country, but when someone is shaking things up and changing the way the way the presidency governs, as this president is, there's going to be efforts. There's going to be those who take it upon themselves to try to stop it by any means. And it's still. If we had had a Democrat president, for example, who had been through this, we would hear about it all the time. There was nothing like any of this that I can remember under Biden. Certainly he wasn't shot. Certainly they didn't find a gunman once after he had been shot, waiting for him on his golf course somewhere. There's clearly an elevated threat level against Donald Trump now. I think the Secret Service is more prepared for this now than they had been previously. I would certainly hope so, because the failures of security in that field in Butler, Pennsylvania, were all too clear and obvious to everyone who observed what was going on there. But I find that it's. It's just interesting how little there is in the narrative in the media about the bravery that Trump has when he goes about all the things that he does and all the events and all the Time, he doesn't slow down one bit. And this president is under, clearly, I don't think there's any doubt, more active threat than certainly any president in the 21st century. And I think you would have to go back to Reagan for anybody who is even close to as consequential a president. And then also with that, with being so consequential, I think comes the elevated risk from a whole range of things. People that are trying to stop, people that are part of the, the evil or the, the enemy that want to just stop this president from continuing to rack up wins. People that are just so insane that they view themselves as, they want to do something, essentially go down in the history books ignominiously, but they want to go down the history books for stopping this president in some way. So I just think that there's not nearly enough time, or not nearly enough, in fairness, that is said about how President Trump really has done a very brave thing by running again, by continuing to go on after getting shot. It didn't even faze him. It didn't even faze him that this guy took a 5, 5, 6 round through the year. He just kept going. He really is on a mission. Many of you would say he's on a mission from God. I think Trump would say he's on a mission from God. But, you know, he has chosen to do this at some level, and we need to understand that, but also count our blessings that he's still able to go and do what he does and continue on with, with what his task has been up to this point. You think about this, there's just, there are so many forces arrayed against this guy, which on the one hand is, I think, a massive indicator of how consequential, as I said, he is of how much of a disruptor he is, how much that he's willing to take the fight to the enemy in a whole range of ways, internationally, domestically, spiritually, you name it. But when you hear that there's some maniac roaming Mar a Lago with a gun now, the president wasn't there, the president wasn't under threat in this case, but clearly, like I said, say a prayer for this president, because he's got, he's got a few years left here and still has a lot to do, and we have to keep this president safe. So good work from the Secret Service. And if we have any more on the background here, I mean, I think it's just a lunatic, but we'll continue to follow this. All right, Market cycles come and go. And economic uncertainty isn't new. But what does change is how prepared you can be when volatility hits. Many investors are heavily concentrated in paper assets, stocks, bonds, currencies. Not as many are invested in gold and silver and they are missing out. Last year gold was up 65% and silver was double that. This is where Birch Gold Group comes in. They help you diversify your savings with gold and silver assets that have historically held value across economic disruptions. This isn't speculation. This is stability planning. Gold and silver aren't tied to a single company, government policy or earnings report. They're a limited commodity. In the past year, we've seen increased evidence of central banks the world over buying both. Birch Gold Group walks you through the process in clear, straightforward terms. It's who I buy my gold from when I work with them. My sense of them is clear. No pressure, no complexity, just education and options. welcome back in here to Clay and Buck President Trump weighed in on the great victory of our ice hockey men's National Olympic team. And it was a really fun moment for all. And it's the president doing what he does, which is just being Trump, inspiring people, feeling. You just feel the surge of patriotism. Play clip 10. By the way, you, goalie played not bad. I have seen hockey goalies have slightly worse games. Unbelievable. And you were all unbelievable. You know, I tell you what I just told my people two minutes ago. I didn't know they'd be calling. I said, we're giving the State of the Union speech on Tuesday night. I could send a military plan or something. But if you would like to. It's the. It's the coolest night. It's the biggest. We're in. Yes. We'll get the cash, and we'll get the military to get you guys over. Thank you, Mr. President.
Clay Travis
What would really be cool?
Buck Sexton
And we'll do the White House the next day. We'll just have some fun. We have medals for you guys, and we have to. I must tell you, we're gonna have to bring the woman's team. You do know that? I do believe I probably would be okay. President being funny there, saying he's also got to bring the women's team. Having some fun with the guys and. Yeah, look, it's. It's just. It's just a great moment. You can really feel, I think, already a little bit of the growing excitement for the 250th anniversary of America coming up. Pretty darn cool. And for that to happen under this president again, not everything has to be political, but a lot of things are political. Can you imagine the 250th celebration with Joe Biden as the president? Would there even really be a celebration? It would actually probably turn into some kind of, like, confession therapy session about indigenous, like, Indigenous Peoples Day or something. It's like, We've been here 250 years. We still have not yet made amends for all the indigenous and first nations people that, you know, you know how it would go. Instead, it's going to be America. Heck, yeah. And it's going to be great. So congrats again to that team. I have to say, you know, this is. This is just the truth of my own situation. I never played helmet sports, and it's because my head was always too big for the helmets. I guess I should have had an adult helmet, and it always gave me headaches. I tried ice hockey for one year, one season, when I was maybe in the first grade. And I was terrible, but my head hurt all the time because my head's too darn big for the helmet. But having seen this guy lose his front teeth by getting hit with the stick and his, like, bloody, shattered front tooth, I'm okay with not playing hockey. I got to tell you, I'm okay with missing that one. I was a. I was a soccer, basketball, and tennis guy. And that's okay because, man, that is. That is some tough stuff. Tooth stuff, man. Ooh, you get. Ooh, that's a. Is a badass photo, though, that guy. It was a badass photo. It was pretty cool. I have to give them all credit. So a great moment for men's national team hockey, for sure. A great moment for the country. All right, look, Israel continues to be in the news. You saw there was a big interview that just happened over there recently with Ambassador Huckabee. But there are so many opinions and emotions surrounding that part of the world because we as a nation care about the Israeli population. For those in this audience that regularly refer to the Bible, you know the phrase from the book of Abraham, I will bless those who bless you. It reminds every Christian to look after those of the Jewish faith, and you will be blessed for doing so. And today, with anti Semitism rising around the world, that calling is more urgent than ever. At a time when Jewish communities are experiencing more hostility, more threats, and more violence than ever, Christians have a powerful opportunity to say, we've got your back. When Christians choose to bless Israel, not taking a political stand, we're honoring the root of our faith and standing against hatred. Supporting Israel is more than a belief. And by partnering with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, an organization doing so much for so many residents in need, you're empowering the IFCJ to help those in Israel. Go to IFCJ.org today. That's IFCJ.org welcome back in here to Clay and Buck. Gavin Newsom in the news. Probably happy just that he's in the news. I don't think he really cares that what he said is getting pretty roundly ridiculed. I have to tell you, he's a couple slots ahead of me. He just had a book that came out. His book just came out or is coming out, I think, tomorrow. So, young man in a hurry. It is called I do not recommend you buy it. I do recommend you buy Manufacturing Delusion so that we can get ahead of Gavin Newsom's book. That would thank you for helping me defeat Meacham's book. By the way, we smoked Meacham's book, which was fun because it was at one of the brick and mortar bookstores that shall not be named, but that is the most famous one after Amazon, which is online and not brick and mortar. There were Meacham books everywhere, and people had to, like, beg for my book and they had to go in some back room or something to see if they had it, even though my book was greatly outselling Meacham's book. That's kind of weird, isn't it? Wouldn't you want to just have the book out that you're selling? Isn't that what bookstores do? No, not if the, if the, you know, they, them selling you the books has, like, plugs in they, their ears and, and a big nose ring and purple hair, then they prefer to push the Meacham book. Not a surprise, but yeah. So Gavin's got a book coming out which I'm quite sure he did not write probably a word of. He probably sat down for a couple of quick interviews with the ghostwriter to give some, like, stories from his life, and then it was left to the ghostwriter to do everything. So again. And you could say, oh, that's all fine. I know, but as someone who actually sat down and wrote a whole book, I got to tell you, these people that are like, I wrote a book and they actually just sat and did an interview for 40 minutes and then let someone else write the whole book, people can say it's the same thing. It's not the same thing. So it's very straightforward. People could say, oh, that's writing a book. No, it's not. It's kind of dictating a few stories to somebody who then writes a book for you. So. And I understand that that's very common practice for a lot of people, particularly politicians and everything else. Okay. I'm not necessarily casting judgment or aspersions on it. Maybe I am. But it's just not the same thing. Right. I, I, I can say that. I, you know, or like, like our, like our Secretary of War, Pete hexeth, he lifted 315 pounds. He lifted 315 pounds. This is impressive. If he paid someone else to lift 315 pounds in his place, he didn't lift 315 pounds. Right. This is actually very straightforward. But people seem to get in the, in the publishing industry. Didn't we get confused by this? Anyway, Gavin Newsom. Oh, Gavin, he's out there. He's doing his thing. He's making some noise, trying to get some attention for his book. Why? Because this is the I'm running for president book. This is his dreams from my father. This is his. I don't know, what are the other, like, presidential books. No one reads these books. People buy these books because it gives them an opportunity to tell people that they bought it and then to put it in some conspicuous place. It's not a coffee table book, but they want to put it on the coffee table so that when anyone comes over, or maybe they'll put it in the bookshelf. That's like near the front doors. People will see. It tells everybody. I'm a person who buys Democrat presidential memoirs. That's really what this is. I know that there are people that. That's not necessarily the case. Ok, fine, this is a diversion, but I'm weaving. I also thought this was really interesting. You know, they're finding out that all these kids. I'm going to get back to Gavin Newsom and the dumb things that he said. I promise you, put a pin in that. It just as part of my prep for this morning, I was reading through and they're finding that this huge effort to turn schools from books like textbooks and just, you know, old school books to laptops and tablets, there's more evidence now than ever that this is a really bad idea and that their standardized testing is going down in general. I mean, I'm kind of unsurprised by this, although I couldn't even tell you why. There's just something about an actual physical book that is tough to beat. I think it's a technology that will never be replaced. I am also. I use my Kindle at night before I go to sleep. That's how I fall asleep. I read every night before I go to bed. So good habit. By the way, I'll recommend it to you. And the Kindle is nice because you can set the lighting on it so that it's very. It's pretty dim and so it won't overstimulate your eyes. And so it's pretty easy to fall asleep. But I basically fall asleep reading every night and I can't. I couldn't do that with my reading light because then it would be a little too bright. It's hard to fall asleep. So I think the Kindle has. Has a use for that. It also obviously can hold a lot of books in one place. But at the end of the day, I mean, I'm sitting here in my studio and I've just got a book, I've got bookshelves, I got piles of Books. I don't even have room for the shelves anymore. There's something about books. They've done studies that families that just have books on shelves in the home with children, the children tend to do better in school just having books. Now, I'm not saying there's something magic like the book, through some kind of osmosis or some, some telekinesis is able to impart its knowledge upon you, but I just think it's a reminder. I think it's a. A. You know how people have those things in their offices that are like, be a team player today. You know, what are those? I don't even know what are those called? You know, they're not memes. They're like meme posters, though they're bigger back in like the early 2000s. They don't really do that as much now, but they would have these things. It's like a classic of, of boring corporate Americas. They would have, you know, get more done today than you did yesterday. Now, does that work or not? I'll leave that up to you. But having books in your house is like a reminder that there are these things called books and that you should read them and that books matter and they're important. So actual physical books make a difference. And they're finding us in education now, which is the case. All right, now, Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom, he is trying to sell his book and he was at a place in Georgia, the Rialto center for the Arts, yesterday. I want you to hear. This is a largely black audience according to all the news reports. I want you to hear how Gavin Newsom speaks to this audience. This is cut five. Listen in. I'm not trying to impress you. I'm just trying to impress upon you. I'm like you. I'm no better than you. You know, I'm a 960 SAT guy. And you know, and I'm not trying to offend anyone. You know, trying to act all there. If you got 940, but literally a 960sat guy. I cannot. You've never seen me read a speech because I cannot read a speech. Maybe the wrong business to be in. I'm. This is the quote. I am like you. I'm a 960 SAT guy. What percentile is a 960 SAT? Just by curiosity. That is in the 34th percentile. That is a really rough SAT score. I'm just going to tell you that is not a strong SAT score. Now, Gavin Newsom choosing to share that. And I will tell you I am not shocked that that is. That that is the case. But Gavin Newsom sharing that he got a 960 on the SAT to me, is indicative of a few things here. One is he thinks, well, the part of this that's getting so much attention is that Gavin Newsom speaks to a crowd that is mostly African American and says, I am like you, and then says he got a very low SAT score. People are looking at that, and they're saying, not a great look, Gavin. Not really. Not really the way you want to go with this one. And then he also says, I can't read. Now he's saying that he suffers from dyslexia. And I think actually this came up recently because was it Senator Ted Cruz said that he's historically illiterate, and then Gavin Newsom was like, how dare you, making fun of dyslexia. And it's like, that's not what historically illiterate means. But Gavin didn't know that either. We are ruled by morons, my friends. In many cases. You have to remember that certainly if you live in California, you are. There are very, very dumb people who can rise to the absolute heights of. Of power. I mean, Joe Biden, for example, even before he had dementia, Joe Biden was. He's cunning and good at playing this game of charming politician. Not that he's actually charming, but he's good at putting on the face and the handshake and everything else. And he's ruthless insofar as he'll do. He has no ethics to defend or protect, so he'll do anything. He'll say whatever. But he's not a smart man. There's a lot of these people in politics who are not smart. And this is unsurprising, I know, to all of you, but for Gavin Newsom to be. I'm a 960sat guy. I can't read. As a means of trying to use that to become closer to this audience of mostly black listeners. That is. That is quite a moment for a Democrat. Now, I'm going to tell you something else, though. People who are saying that this is disqualifying, that Newsom is done, that this will haunt him, they're wrong. It won't. It won't. Because the great power that Democrats really have is as long as they have the right policy, which means the Democrat policy, as long as they will do what the Democrat Party wants them to, there are no consequences for stuff like this. Do you remember what Joe Biden said about Barack Obama before Obama was president? I don't remember the exact quote, but it was, you know, he. I believe he referred to him as. Well, I'll pull up the quote, but. Because I don't want. I don't want to get it wrong. But Joe Biden said something that I think for a lot of people, more than just raised eyebrows, it didn't matter. He's a Democrat. And the system around these people will just make sure that this is not remembered, this is not used against them. This is not a big thing. But ultimately, also, I think that if you're a politician in America today and you're going to get 90% of the black vote and the black community believes that you are serving their interests as a politician, racism is not going to get you in trouble. Not really. I mean, it would have to be really, really bad, or even I should. This isn't even. This is more just sort of bumbling insensitivity. I wouldn't even say this is racism. I'm not trying to be the racism police here. But Gavin Newsom said something. He's trying to. He's trying to seem like he's, you know, trying to seem like he's just. Just one of the guys, you know, just like everybody else. And so immediately he goes into, I did terribly in the SATs and obviously was not a good student. And he said, I can't read, which I'm assuming is not really true. But he has some level of dyslexia. And this is how he thinks he's going to seek common ground with people. This is how he's going to find it. Victim status of some kind as a Democrat is necessary. You have to. Even if it means that you're a white person who just says, I'm ashamed of my whiteness. Like, whatever it is as a Democrat in politics today, you have to find the place where you get to claim that you, too, are a victim. And if that means you're a victim of your own whiteness, then that works. But you have to find that with some. You have to find that common ground with somebody. You have to find that. That shared experience. And Gavin Newsom is an absolutely shameless Charlatan. Say that 10 times fast. Shameless charlatan. He is, though. I also am very confident he will be the next Democrat nominee for President of the United States. I don't think anyone else is even gonna come close. I could be wrong on this one. A lot can change between now and then. But something about this guy. This is what the Democrats want. They want someone who is just stands for nothing and will give them everything. All right, welcome back in. Let's get to some of your talkbacks and some of your calls and we'll start with Frank in California. What's going on, Frank? Yeah, Buck, first of all, fantastic book. Thank you. That you wrote. Absolutely. I mean, it's just very valuable to history, to the United States, and especially your discovery of menticide. That psychologist who coined the term menticide. My question. And I got a question. You seem, and you see, you seem to think or. And feel that that in the USA here, where we are a lot closer to, you know, having menticide happen to us as a nation than I am. And could you discuss that a little bit? Sure thing. Yeah. So menticide is. Is juiced Meerloo's term. He came up with it. And this is a guy who did staff work in the Netherlands until 1942 under under Nazi occupation. And he tried to evade the the Nazis while the Netherlands was under occupation. And then he looked into what had happened, like basically how did the Nazis and how did the Germans and how did so many people just lose their minds in this great plague of evil? And he wrote the Rape of the mind in 1956 about this. So it was totalitarian brainwashing techniques that he was looking at. And the book has sort of fallen away and people don't really. I had not heard of it until I was doing my research for this book for Manufacturing Delusion, which I hope you'll all go get a copy of today. But the basic theories and processes have very much stayed the same since he published it in the 1950s. But yeah, menticide Killing of the brain. He was a prolific writer. He did some really interesting stuff and he basically just made the case, he said that without mental freedom, democracy, rule of law, none of these things are possible. And if someone's saying, well, why do I think that this is something we have to be concerned with? This country lost its mind during COVID Or rather we were forced to lose our minds. And we also, in segments have lost our minds on a whole range of other issues. Climate change, blm, gender, transgender stuff, all of this. These are things that are irrational, they are crazy, and they are forced belief in a whole range of ways. That's really what the book is about. So go get it and you'll learn some really interesting and worthwhile stuff. Manufacturing Pollution is the book. And yeah, Merloo is a, is a fascinating guy. Coming back in here we'll talk about Trump honoring angel families. He declared yesterday as a national day of remembrance for those angel families. So we will talk about that. We'll also get more of your calls and just generally run through more of the news and have a fantastic show. So I'll be back with you in just a moment.
