Monday Edition Clay Travis Buck Sexton Show I am out in California, Louisiana for a few days. Buck will join us back tomorrow. He is training to be an astronaut, not quite, but he's at Kennedy Space center as they get ready for Artemis, which is a big trip that is going to return us to the moon is the plan. But they are going to be orbiting the moon soon. He's been hanging out with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and also with the head of NASA. I'm sure he's going to have some good stories for us tomorrow, but that is where he is this morning and during the course of today's program. So Buck will be back with us tomorrow. Like I said, I am out in California for the week, so I will do my best to survive in Commieland. But in all seriousness, we have a huge number of listeners in California, so I am out in your territory for the week. Reminder next month we are going to be in Texas as the primary season begins in earnest in 2028. We're going to be touring Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Going to be out and about a lot of during the 2026 midterm year to try to make sure that we are visiting with as many of you as possible. So that is what is the latest there. I have paid off my bet. I have a mustache. There is no video. At some point there will be video. There are pictures. And I hate all of you for all of the memes that you have already taken advantage of. With my mustache I think I look amazing. Quite simply, Grandma's of America, you're on notice. I couldn't have looked any better, I didn't think. But then I added a mustache. We'll have some fun with that. Open phone lines 800-282-2882. We got a bunch of guests at the bottom of this hour. Senator Eric Schmidt of Missouri is going to join us. Then the Chicago Cubs owner Todd Ricketts with a lot of discussion about the media marketplace. He's doing some some cool things there. And then another Senator Marsha Blackburn will join us at 2:30. So we have guests at the bottom of each of the next three hours. But we begin with, unfortunately, what likely took over your social media feeds and what has taken over much of the cultural conversation last night was the Grammys. Full disclosure, I did not watch one single moment of the Grammys. I was in the air flying out to California. I did, however, see all of the different viral memes and the latest thing that Hollywood, where I am right now and the cultural ascendancy of the left has become obsessed with is ice. Now, no one cared one iota about ice for the last 25 years. I don't remember anybody complaining when Barack Obama was sending millions of people back. I don't remember anyone complaining about ice at all other than when Trump has been in office. And this year as a part of 2.0. In the first year of the Trump administration, ICE became the new thing that Hollywood and that people in music and people in entertainment are obsessed with. These individuals on the left in cultural spaces are particularly susceptible to whatever the new thing is. Do you remember when everybody suddenly cared immensely about Ukraine? You haven't heard about Ukraine in forever. But remember when everybody suddenly had Ukraine flags in their bio? Remember when everybody had mask pictures in their bio? The new thing that the left is concerned about is ice. And so last night at the Grammys, everybody had to let you know that they were desperately obsessed with what was going on with ice. And the host. I'm not sure there's ever been a comedian or host that has gotten and had more opportunity and less success in the entire entertainment space than Trevor Noah. We'll get to him in a moment. But we began with, I think her name is Billie Eilish and frankly, I'm not the expert on the music. I probably would recognize a Billie Eilish song if you told me some of them. But I don't know what she sings. But she has a multimillion dollar mansion, I'm told, in Los Angeles and evidently it is on stolen land. She has not been willing to my recognition to hand her land back to the Native American tribes that she stole from. But during her acceptance, I think it was an acceptance speech, I don't know. Here is what Billie Eilish had say no. This is the new thing that they say. No one is illegal on stolen land. Cut to I love you so much. I feel so honored every time I get to be in this room. And as grateful as I feel, I honestly don't feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land. Everybody goes crazy for this. If your land is stolen, shouldn't you hand it back? If, if, if Billie Eilish really believes that she is living on stolen land, wouldn't the moral thing for her to do be to give up her multimillion dollar LA mansion and return it to whatever tribe she thinks originally hunted on the land. That feels like a no brainer. No one ever does. You hear the crowd going crazy. There's but there is no stolen land. And of course what this is based on is they have created this world where if the land is stolen then no one can be illegal on it. That's the logic. It doesn't even make any sense. At what point is land owned? In other words, where is and where are you capable of actually buying land? Nobody ever explains this. And if you're out there and you're saying, okay, this whole stolen land thing, it's not that common. I think I told this story, I know I did when I toured with my oldest son Georgetown University. Before we began the tour of Georgetown University in Washington D.C. the tour guide said as the opening introduction to us, it's important to understand that we are standing on stolen land at Georgetown University. As we began the tour, the very first thing they felt compelled to say at that university was this is stolen land. If you go to school in many different universities now they begin the semester, the professor comes out and as part of reviewing the syllabus he has a land acknowledgement and says, or she says, don't want to be sexist here that we are living on stolen land and we are attending school on stolen land. And my response on this is quite simple. Why not just return your land then why does Billie Eilish have a multi million dollar mansion in la? It's an easy question that someone might ask, oh, that's well, if you stole something you should return it. How come no one ever returns their stolen land? How come they continue to take title to stolen land and pay millions of dollars for it? An interesting question that is begged by that comment, but instead everybody stands and cheers. Trevor Noah, the most successful person who has never had any success in his career. That is justified. He just happens to be mixed race and as a result Jon Stewart handed him the Daily show and then the Daily show collapsed. Even though Trevor Noah has an entire staff of writers trying to come up with brilliant and funny things for him to say, he still could not manage to do that and so his show was canceled. He has failed on all fronts, but he keeps getting opportunities. He was hosting the Grammys and this is what he said last night. Of course he wanted to take shots at Trump and he talked about Greenland. I'm playing it for you because I want you guys to be able to hear it. Cut 3. Song of the year. Congratulations, Billie Eilish. Wow, that is a Grammy that every artist wants. Almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense, I mean, because Epstein's island is gone. He needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton, so. Oh, I told you, it's my last year. What are you gonna do about it? Oh, what an original joke. Oh, he's got a whole staff and that's the best joke he can make. I do think that this is a whiff that the NFL should be held accountable for. The NFL to their credit, since the Colin Kaepernick disaster has gotten back to football and they're setting all time records and it turns out that people really like football. And if you just play football, then people show up in huge numbers and the league makes tons of money and the ratings go through the roof and everybody is happy because people like football. But for some reason, the NFL decided this year that they needed to have a halftime act that basically hates America. And this is what Bad Bunny said when he was at the Grammys last night. Again, this is the halftime entertainer that the super bowl has picked. Cut one.

You're actually not an American if you're here illegally. And what is in the mind of Hollywood, all of these super wealthy left wingers, they live in gated communities, they live behind armed security. They have the most impressive walls that you can possibly imagine for their own private lives. But publicly they are arguing that we shouldn't have walls and that we shouldn't have any restrictions. And do you know what they require in order to get into the Grammys? Photo id, which none of these people want to actually have to vote. So it's just a collection of people that are completely out of touch, by and large, with society as a whole. With that in mind, there was one positive that I saw. Jelly Roll, who is a country artist, won a Grammy and got up and this was pretty great. Cut 7. Jelly roll has had a tortured, tumultuous past. This is what he wanted to send. So look, there isn't always an awful message. Sometimes there is actually a positive thing that can come out of award season. Cut seven. I would tell y' all right now.

I love you, Lord. And he continued, and that went super viral in a positive way. I also. I also love what Jelly Roll said about ice. He said, and I want to make sure that I get this quote right on the red car. First of all, why are you asking Jelly Roll about ice? I would just. I mean, the guy's name is Jelly Roll. Are we thinking this is the foremost political philosopher of our time, that. That anyone feels compelled to get the opinion of Jelly Roll? And I'm going to dive into this because we had a bunch of dumb athletes saying dumb things. But. But he was asked about what. What he thought about ice. And maybe we can get this audio because I think it was on the red carpet. He said people shouldn't care to hear his opinion about ice or what's going on in the country right now because he's disconnected and he spent a lot of time in prison and. And he's just a dumb redneck. And, you know, I actually respect that. I wish everybody out there would just say, you know what? I'm a musician. I'm an entertainer. I make movies. I don't have any idea what the real world is like. I'm going to send this to Greg and. Because I did think it was pretty funny. But, yeah, Jelly Roll comes down the red carpet. What would you want to ask Jelly Roll? Oh, let's ask him what he thinks about major geopolitical concerns. The guy probably hasn't read an article about the news in 20 years. I give him respect for that answer. We'll play it for you when we come back. And we've also got Don Lemon. He got a standing ovation. Of course he did. At the Grammys. We'll talk about that. James Carville's got a take on Democrat culture. We've got some incredible numbers coming out of Washington, D.C. on the collapsing murder rate. I'm going to talk to you about Epstein revelations and census data and as it continues to come out, why I think it is so consequential. We will get into all of that. But if you're out there right now and you want to make sure that your home is safe, but maybe you don't want to have lethal methods to do so, maybe you got young kids in the home and you just feel a little bit nervous about them finding things, and you're just a little bit nervous and apprehensive about lethal protection, maybe some of you are out there in that camp. That's what Sabre does. They have a powerful projectile launcher. It's pepper spray that has seven different projectiles. It will protect you, but it's non lethal when fear hits and you want to defend yourself. But maybe you don't want to have something lethal. Maybe you've got kids that are running around in the house and you're worried that if they get into something, you're worried about what they might do. But again, you want protection. That's what Saber is designed for. Check them out. S A B R E is the name. This is a family owned business. We have every single one of their products. They got pepper spray. If you've got kids that are working at jobs or maybe they've just gotten their driver's license, maybe you got grandkids. Maybe you've got kids going off to college and you know they're going to be out late at night. This is the perfect time for you to be checking out their site. Sabre radio.com that's s a b r e radio.com and 844-824 safe if you would like to check it out. Saberradio.com s a b r e radio.Com 844-824 sa fe. You ain't imagining it. The world has gone insane. Welcome back in Clay Travis Buck Sexton Show. Rolling through the Monday edition of the program, I mentioned Jelly Roll again. I I do think this is crazy when you really think about a guy being on the red carpet and your first thought is I gotta find out what Jelly Roll thinks about ice. But I believe we have Jelly Roll here saying I'm just a dumb redneck. Cut 28 I can tell you that people shouldn't care to hear my opinion. Man, you know I'm a dumb redneck. I haven't watched enough. I didn't have a phone for 18 months. I've had one for four months and don't have social media. I'm. I hate to be the artist and static aloof, but I just. I'm so disconnected from what's happening. And I'm just not a. I grew up in a house of like insane pandemonium. And like, you'd like. I didn't even know politics were real until I was in my mid-20s in jail. Like, that's how disconnected. When you grow up in a drug addict household, you think we like have common calls about what's happening in world politics. Like we're just trying to find a way to survive. Man. I, I met Jelly Roll. Super Nice guy. I actually. This is a ridiculous story. I actually sat next to him at a WWE wrestling event in Nashville. He was super kind to, to my kids who were sitting directly next to him. I think there's video of us because Jelly Roll ended up getting shoved in the, in the WrestleMania as part of the, part of the work in the WWE event. By the way, Royal Rumble over the weekend. For those of you who consume, um, super nice guy. This is what every entertainer should say. I mean, if you're really trying to be great at entertaining people, you shouldn't have time to be an expert on ice related issues, right? I mean, if you're really, really think about the people you know who are the best at something, are they really super engaged in every aspect of modern politics? Probably not. And you shouldn't be. And just answer like, this should be what every entertainer says. This should be what every athlete says. That answer actually makes me want to consume Jelly Rolls content. I mean, honestly, why isn't that the standard? Why doesn't everybody just answer that way? Hey, I'm a stupid redneck. Hey, I'm a musician. My IQ is 110 on the scale. I'm a little above average maybe. Do you really think that I'm the expert on what we should be doing on American border policy? I just want to make songs that people like. That seems like a really good answer that most of America responds to. I want to know who the reporter was that tried to get Jelly Roll on the record for Ice. I would like. Can we get the question? I would actually like to hear the question too. I don't know if that's out there anywhere. Look, I want to tell you, if you need a little bit more energy in your life, you need a little bit more vim, vigor and vitality. If it's Monday and you woke up when the alarm went off and you thought, oh, this is going to be a hard week because you were chasing people around all weekend long and already it's Monday and you don't have great energy, chalk could be a solution for you it can increase your natural testosterone up to 20% in just three months time. For Harris Energy you get a $99 bottle bag of chocolate powder with your first delivery choke. My name C L A Y. Welcome back in Clay. Travis Buck Sexton Show. Rolling through the Monday edition of the program. Buck will be back tomorrow. We are joined now by Missouri Senator Eric Schmidt. Lots going on. Let's just start here. Senator, appreciate you making the time to come on. What is the latest on the, on the shutdown? We haven't even really hardly talked about it very much. I know it's going to in theory be resolved sooner rather than later. But what should we know about the latest details on that front?
Senator Eric Schmidt
Yeah, essentially last, last Friday the Senate passed out all of the appropriations bills, the Democrats in a, in a two week CR for the DHS funding and that is what's now in front of the House. And so the Democrats, here's my perspective, they want to, I want to thank them actually for giving us two weeks now to talk about illegal immigration. I mean this is a home game trust. And all these ridiculous demands that they have related to ice, they just don't work. It makes it harder for ICE to do their jobs. But what we should be demanding on our end if we're going to do anything is ending sanctuary cities. That's the root cause of all this play. You don't see this trouble anywhere else in the country where these operations are happening in red states and blue states, except in the sanctuary jurisdictions where they're making it very difficult for ICE officers to do their jobs. And the politicians are fomenting this rage and encouraging people into these confrontations. So the punchline is my hope is that the House probably tomorrow passes that and then that continuing resolution will last for two weeks. The Democrat Democrats will want some stupid stuff. We'll say no. We want good stuff. They may say no to that and then we'll fund dhs. The other last thing I'll say is in the working class tax cut from last summer, the one big beautiful bill we front loaded because we knew this was coming, front loaded. Four years worth of funding for deportations in that bill. So The Democrats can whine all they want, but these deportations are going to continue.
Clay Travis
You're a lawyer. I'm a lawyer. I am totally still in disbelief of a couple of things that are that are occurring. And I'll go to the first one. Sanctuary city seem to me to be a flagrant violation of federal law. We have the Supremacy clause. How in the world is this even allowed to occur legally?
Senator Eric Schmidt
That's a great question. It shouldn't be. But one of the things I think worth pointing out is what we haven't done yet, what I and Senator Graham are proposing, went on the floor last week to propose was to say we're going to end sanctuary cities. And here's how. If you're violating federal law, you're going to go to jail. The politicians, because they know better. It's obvious. It's clear. You don't get to. What they do is, Clay, is they withhold information. Think how ridiculous this is. They really won't tell ICE agents when rapists and child molesters are getting out of prison. That's how messed up this is. They don't even want that because illegal immigration is effectively the Democrats religion now. Everything begins and ends with the idea that they don't actually believe in sovereignty. They don't really believe borders should matter. They think anybody can come here and stay as long as they want and you can't be a sovereign country, no country can, if that's what you believe. And so I think we're at a really important moment right now in the history of our country. And Republicans cannot yield here. We cannot back down. And that's the role that I'm sort of playing right now.
Clay Travis
All right. One other one that I think is significant. We actually had the attorney general of Missouri on talking about it last week with us, the continued counting. And I think this impacts Missouri certainly when it comes to congressional seats, the continued counting of illegal immigrants for purposes of census. Supreme Court hopefully will take this up and give us an answer once and for all. But it artificially creates a great disconnect between where the congressional seats are being allocated. I keep talking about it because I think very few people are actually aware nationwide that illegal immigrants are counted for purposes of the 435 seat House apportionment.
Senator Eric Schmidt
Yeah, no, that's right. I'm in the same position with that, Clay. I don't think a lot of people know that, that you don't actually have to be a citizen to be counted in the census. And that affects congressional districts. It affects where federal dollars Go. There's all sorts of consequences to it. And if we solve that issue, which, if you ask a straight up question to the American people, do you believe that illegal immigrants should be counted or should be able to vote? I mean, that's it. We talk about 80, 20 issues. That's a 9010 issue. And we have to take that on because the Democrats, and that's why ultimately they're losing their minds over the deportations. If you want to really understand why. It's about power. They know that if we did things where, if we deported people and only counted citizens in this country, the Democrats would be in a. I don't say a permanent minority, but they wouldn't be able to have these. These spells of being a majority party. It's all based on, honestly why illegal immigration is so important to them.
Clay Travis
Okay, let's go into something you and I both love. It's super bowl week. I know your Chiefs are not going to be in the super bowl for the first time in what feels like four, 40 years, but college football and college basketball is a complete and total mess. And I ran into you in D.C. and we talked about it a little bit. Is there a role for the federal government to try and figure out what should happen going forward with college sports? I heard one of your interviews you did recently talking about this, and what do you think it should be? How do we fix this? Because I think there's a. There's an idea that this is broken. And it's correct that it is broken. Yeah.
Senator Eric Schmidt
And I think the way to look at this is. So I was skeptical for a long time of Congress playing a role. I think most people would, you know, they love their sports and they don't want Congress to have anything to do with it. But I do think we're approaching a time where Congress needs to come in, and here's why. There's been litigation over the last half dozen years or so or going back a decade on name, image and likeness, where effectively college players, their images were being used for EA Sports and they weren't compensated. Maybe they'd throw them up, you know, an Xbox or something. But they were never being compensated. They're never being paid. And I think that was, you know, one end of the spectrum that was wrong. As a practical matter, I think these guys should get paid. I think they should be able to transfer. Probably once something like that, if a coach leaves, they should be able to leave. Things like that. But. But basically, these court decisions, Clay, have ruled the NCAA totally ineffective. Like they can't and the NCAA's had a lot of problems, but they can't establish any rules. And so now you have really kind of a wild west where people are moving every. I mean, you probably have a player, really, if you talk to these SEC coaches like you and I do for maybe six months, you're in a constant negotiation. Things are moving. There's agents that are in here that shouldn't be agents. There's, there's a lot of bad advice. So there's two aspects of this. The first is governance. In exchange for Congress giving liability protection to the NCAA or some other governing body, they would establish rules of the road, like transparency with who the agents are. You have a two year contract, you can transfer once. Unless a coach leaves. Things like that that make total common sense, there'd be an entity empowered to go do that. The second piece of it is the revenue side. And so a lot of people are talking about this. Like if you think about it, the NBA has half the audience of college football, but twice the revenue. The NBA, all kind of rights included, is about 8 billion. If you pull all of college football or all of college football, you're a little short of 4 billion. Now, if they were able to pool that like the NFL does, MLB does, the NBA does, they could probably double the revenue that the, in the, that the NBA has. And then you solve this really important issue that the SCORE act that Cody Campbell's talking about of protecting Olympic sports, protecting the non revenue sports, there's enough money to have those programs in place. College football is the juggernaut here, would make gobs and gobs more money than they have right now. And I really believe you could probably get to a place where the big ten and the sec, which are the big dogs in this and rightfully so, that they don't feel like they're losing out either, that everybody really benefits. You got the governance side and then you have the revenue side. And the only way that works is if Congress gives them liability protection to go do both of those things and.
Clay Travis
Some form of antitrust protection in that context of liability. Right. Because otherwise you're getting sued. So is there a bill that's working on that? Because I think a lot of people who are college sports fans are kind of nodding along and saying, yes, this is broken. And I think a lot of people are skeptical that Congress candidly can fix anything, but is there a bill that would fix all of what you just laid out? What's the process?
Senator Eric Schmidt
Yeah, and first and foremost, you know, we're talking about obviously I have a passion for sports, so do you. So this is stuff that I actually love. I don't want a bunch of politicians messing this up either. But the only entity in our country that can give the antitrust, you know, sort of accept exemption that effectively MLB and NFL has to bargain with with rights holders is Congress. So Congress, if you're going to fix it, has some role in at least allowing them to go negotiate what this thing looks like. So there's the SCORE act, which really deals with the governance piece. It's hey, let's protect, you know, these Olympic sports and all these other non revenue sports by having certain rules. You have transparency, you have contracts, things that are kind of like basic governance. And then, you know, something that a lot of us are looking at, including me being on the Commerce Committee, is how do you address that revenue side? How do you allow the ncr, how do you allow college football really effectively to go negotiate, get a lot more money, more bang for your buck and then make everybody whole and do much better? Because I think if you've ever been around in like state house politics, anytime they want to do something with like a school funding formula, like which district gets which money, you know, for this, if you're dealing with a mentality of scarcity, it's really, really hard to do. But if people feel like everybody could benefit in different ways, that's how you could ultimately get there. So that's something that I'm working on and there's a few of us, you know, Senator Cruz is involved with it. There's a lot of people on the Commerce Committee because the Commerce Committee has jurisdiction over amateur and professional sports and.
Clay Travis
That'S some sort of sports broadcast act. Is that what I understand that there is for the second part?
Senator Eric Schmidt
Yeah, yeah, so, so a Sports Broadcasting act was adopted in the early 1960s that gave these professional sports leagues the ability to negotiate as one. Because look, if you were the NFL and you were trying to negotiate with CBS or Fox, there would clearly you're under typical antitrust law. You'd be colluding, you'd be all be kind of colluding to do it. So Congress said, no, you're a league, you can go do that collectively. And that's what the sports. If you amended the Sports Broadcasting act you do for college football, you say, look, all these member institutions are protected from being sued for antitrust by colluding to, you know, negotiate with CBS or Fox or whoever, because everybody would benefit. But again, if they tried to do that without amending The Sports Broadcasting act, they just wouldn't be able to do it. So that's why Congress has a role potentially here.
Clay Travis
This is all super interesting. I know a lot of people who get in the weeds on this. Love that analysis. Who's going to win the super bowl this weekend? Are you taking the Seahawks or the Patriots?
Senator Eric Schmidt
Man, I don't know.
Clay Travis
I love that you have answers for every subject under the sun, but when I asked you a Super bowl pick, you're like, oh, man, this is a tough one.
Senator Eric Schmidt
I don't know. I think the Seahawks. If I. I think the Seahawks, I just. I think the Seahawks. That's what I'll go with.
Clay Travis
I'm picking Seahawks 24, 21 over the Patriots. That's my pick. I'm giving it out early this week. I'm headed up for the to do.
Senator Eric Schmidt
A program that should. We'll see what happens. But this year, Josh Hertz has done a great job with slu.

Senator Eric Schmidt
All right, brother. Take care.
Clay Travis

Welcome back in My thanks to Missouri Senator Eric Schmidt. Todd Ricketts, who owns the Chicago Cubs, will be on in the second hour. And then Marsha Blackburn, Senator from Tennessee, some positive news. I saw this just shared. So many people out there are still without power and I've been talking about this a lot. That's why Senator Marsha Blackburn's gonna be on with us seeing in the corner of the screen tons of people in Mississippi and tons of people in Tennessee who are still without power. Hundreds of thousands of people. And this was a very positive story that X AI, which is basically based in Memphis in console. They just posted this in consultation with the governor and local authorities, gave 500 generators to families in need in Nashville and an additional 500 generators to Mississippi's emergency management as well. So that is a positive story that is underway. Just FYI, I asked the question who in the world is asking Jelly Roll about ice? And the team tracked down this is it. I want to make sure that I get her right. The person who asked this is we don't know who this is. Right? Is that the. Is that the reality? But you can hear he's on the red Carpet. What would you ask Jelly Roll? Here is the question she decides to ask Jelly Roll about Billie Eilish. Listen, we just had Billie Eilish win and she mentioned in her speech she talked about this topic that's so big tonight. Would you be willing to comment on what's going on in our country right now? I mean, come on, this is so important and I'm going to build on this at the top of the next hour. This is how they create the news. That reporter. Can we play that question one more time for you? Can we play that question? Listen to this reporter. This is not an objective news media member. This is a left wing activist with a mic who knows that she can drive story by getting people who are famous to further a story. Just listen to it. This is not an objective question by any stretch of the imagination. This is supposed to be an objective journalist who's just reporting the news. Listen to how slanted this is. We just had Billie Eilish win and she mentioned in her speech she talked about this topic that's so big tonight. Would you be willing to comment on what's going on in our country right now? So when we come back, I'm going to build on this because I think it's incredibly important and I want to kind of take you into how the sausage is made. How do narrative stories get created? I know, look, I ran a media company for a long time time. I'm going to take you behind the curtain and let you see what actually takes place and how pop culture like the Grammys sports how these stories are created and what exactly is being done when they are built. That question is a perfect example. Now to Jelly Roll's credit, we already played his answer. He just said I'm a dumb redneck. I shouldn't be asking me about this kind of story. Great answer. More power to him. But they want to use celebrity name to advance their left wing political causes. And it's very transparent when you actually dive into how it's created. But most people don't focus on it. I'll explain it next.

Episode: Hour 1 – Idiot Celebrities
Date: February 2, 2026
Host: Clay Travis
Guests: Senator Eric Schmitt (MO)
Main Theme: The disconnect between celebrity activism (especially at the Grammys) and broader American society, with a focus on immigration, "stolen land" rhetoric, and the media's role in shaping political narratives. Also touches on sports and legislative issues.
Clay Travis, solo-hosting from California while Buck Sexton is visiting the Kennedy Space Center, dissects the spectacle of celebrity virtue signaling during the previous night’s Grammys. He sharply critiques “idiot celebrities” for their performative activism on immigration and “stolen land,” their hypocrisy on border policy, and the media’s role in amplifying these narratives. Conversation ranges from viral celebrity moments to genuine policy debate with Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO), and includes analysis of college sports legislation and brief tangents into the NFL and pop culture.
The episode juxtaposes the out-of-touch elite culture with the “real America,” using humor and skepticism throughout.
“No one is illegal on stolen land.”
“If you stole something you should return it. How come no one ever returns their stolen land?” (08:45)
“Wow, that is a Grammy that every artist wants. Almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense… because Epstein’s island is gone. He needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton, so…”
[Noah, 09:15]
“He just happens to be mixed race and as a result Jon Stewart handed him the Daily Show and then the Daily Show collapsed… He still could not manage to do [brilliant and funny things] and so his show was canceled. He has failed on all fronts, but he keeps getting opportunities.” (09:58)
“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.” (12:29)
“Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party... Jesus is Jesus. And anybody can have a relationship with him. I love you, Lord.” (13:58)
“People shouldn’t care to hear my opinion… I’m a dumb redneck. I haven’t watched enough. I didn’t have a phone for 18 months. I’ve had one for four months and don’t have social media... when you grow up in a drug addict household… we’re just trying to find a way to survive…”
[Jelly Roll, 25:45 & 44:46]
“This is not an objective news media member. This is a left wing activist with a mic who knows she can drive a story by getting people who are famous to further a story.” (44:58)
“[Democrat politicians] really won’t tell ICE agents when rapists and child molesters are getting out of prison. That’s how messed up this is... illegal immigration is effectively the Democrats religion now… they don’t actually believe in sovereignty.” (26:50)
“You don’t actually have to be a citizen to be counted in the census… If you ask [people] ‘Should illegal immigrants be counted?’ It’s a 90-10 issue… If we only counted citizens... the Democrats would [lose power].” (29:00)
“Now you have really kind of a wild west... In exchange for Congress giving liability protection... they would establish rules of the road [on agent transparency, transfer rules, revenue].” (30:09)
