Welcome everybody.
Clay Travis
Thursday edition of the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton show kicks off right now. Thanks for being here with us. A couple of big stories right off the top. We're going to spend some time on today. One, the pullback from the operation in Minneapolis, the enhanced ICE deployment there. We have some sound bites from Tom Homan. We have updates from the administration on this one, but they are claiming the mission has been completed and therefore this is on schedule. Is that the way this will play more broadly? We will discuss also a horrific shooting by a transgender man claiming to be a woman at a secondary school outside of Vancouver in Canada and the Canadian media in particular, although not only Canadian media are pretending it was a woman. We're going to talk about this. There is a mass hysteria, a mass delusion around this transgender issue and we are not going to back down one inch from the truth. It's very important. So we will get into that talk. Talk a bit about Minnesota. Also some excellent guests today. We have Secretary of Education Linda McMahon with us. In the next hour. We will talk to her about a new prize for well, has to do with the American founding. Has to do with 250 years of America, which we're celebrating this summer, which is very exciting. And we also have our friend Jesse Kelly, who will deign to spend a few minutes of his time with us. And I'm sure we'll have pithy commentary on America's political and cultural scene as well as Clay Travis's mustache, which is now turning into kind of a, a gruff beard, slash mustache situation. You're going sort of like for the Sam Elliott after a couple of weeks out on the trail look now, is that where we are?
Buck Sexton
I don't really know. I'm kind of in a tough spot with the mustache. You know, if I go clean shaven, then the mustache is completely a commitment here at this point.
Clay Travis
I wouldn't, I wouldn't know who you were. Like if you showed up clean shaven. If that mustache and the beard were gone, I would think you were an imposter and I wouldn't know what to do.
Buck Sexton
So I don't know. I mean, it's the most trusted mustache in news now. I'm not even sure who my competition would be. Geraldo, maybe back in the day, but I think Geraldo retired. So I don't know. I feel an obligation to the American public and I don't know exactly how to, how to land the, land the plane, so to speak. Although with this mustache, I'd probably be great at landing planes.
Clay Travis
I think similar to Churchill, played by Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour. You should let the people weigh in on this and you should just take it to a poll and just see what the. Clay Travis, people of America. Because I think team Mustache will win. I think if you're put it to a fair democratic process, you become a mustache guy instead of a beard guy.
Buck Sexton
You know what's funny is a lot of 20 year old guys have mustaches. I was watching the US men's hockey team as they were playing and getting ready for their games and everything else. Almost everybody on the team has a mustache now. So my 15 year old was like, that's a good, you know, stache. I mean, I think the mustache has surged in the like 18 to 28 year old contingent out there. So I'm definitely way older than them. But, but there are a lot of them. I noticed it out at the super bowl, so. So we will see.
Clay Travis
We shall see. All right, Minnesota, let's talk about this. The White House is saying that this is essentially mission accomplished and that that's why there's a change here. This is Tom Holman this morning who has taken the lead on the messaging and the operations in Minneapolis. Here he is saying that this is coming to a conclusion in that State.
Tom Homan
Play one I have proposed and President Trump has concurred that this surge operation conclude a significant drawdown has already been underway this week and we'll continue to the next week. We have a lot of work to do across this country to remove public safety risk who shouldn't even be in this country and to deliver on President Trump's promise for strong border security, mass deportation. Law enforcement officers drawing down from this surge operation will either return to the duty station or be signed elsewhere to achieve just that.
Clay Travis
Clay, I worry that even if this is true, meaning that they feel like they've gotten better cooperation and they have, by the way, a quick note here because some of you, I, I, I looked very briefly, this is a little bit of a digression, like very briefly at a map and when I said outside of Vancouver, where the shooting was, sorry, it's 700 miles from Vancouver, my Canada geography is not great. That was the closest city that I knew of.
Buck Sexton
I saw the map too, and I thought it was fairly close to Vancouver as well. Yeah.
Clay Travis
So Canada's a very big place. So that was not, that's, that's kind of a whiff on my part. It's quite, it's way up in British Columbia. Anyway, we'll come back to that. But I just before everyone starts filling up the inbox. But that's nowhere near Vancouver. It's the closest city that I knew. But that's because I don't know Canada very well. All right, back to Minneapolis. Tom Holman, he says, clay, how does this play? Because the worry is that the maniacs, the purple haired, shrieking street harpies are going to say we won. Now let's go on to round two.
Buck Sexton
I think that's 100% a valid concern. Now here is what I would say. In general, it seems as if Minneapolis and Minnesota both back down in terms of not turning over violent criminals when they are arrested, people who are violating the law, that essentially they are now notifying ICE and allowing ICE to take possession, take them into custody when they are being released from Minneapolis and Minnesota area prisons. That's what I saw. Keith Ellison and I don't know if we have the audio, but he was effectively acknowledging that. So I, here's what I think happened. I think both sides said this is not beneficial. Tom Homan went to Minneapolis, had a good conversation. He said, we will draw back the number of ICE agents on the streets and if you guys will start to allow us to arrest violent criminals that come into your possession instead of releasing them back into the streets. There was a quiet handshake agreement on this and that is really what has gone on behind the scenes. I also think that if you look at the population of Minneapolis relative to other states, it doesn't have as many illegal immigrants in. And so the surge was only going to be necessary for a limited amount of time because you're going to go get a huge percentage of the people there. So I think this is effectively both sides saying, hey, we've gotten what we consider to be a good result from a compromise perspective. What you and I said, and this would be my concern going forward is, well, the obstruction tactics put in place in Minneapolis are now going to be utilized in other cities and where there are ICE agents out in the streets. And we'll see whether that ends up being the case or not. And the, the final thing that I would point to is Tim Walls. His political career is over. We have a governor's race and a Senate race that is taking place in the fall in 2026 in Minnesota. And ultimately Minnesota voters on some level are going to come out and tell us what they think about the direction of their, of their state. The fact that Tim Walls, who a little over a year ago was the heartbeat away potentially from the presidency, now has his political career over would be a sign that much of the immigration related aspects of Minnesota politics are not breaking in favor of the Democrat Party. And I actually saw a poll out yesterday, I believe it was showing Michelle Tafoya in the Senate race only down by five or six points against the presumptive Democrat nominee. So again, governor's race and a Senate race in Minnesota, we will find out how this all plays out in about 10 months. That will be the first verdict on this. I think the Governor Klobuchar is likely to win and comfortably win. But in the Senate race, which is I would argue actually way more consequential on a national scale, I think Michelle Tafoya is going to be able to make a real run there. So that to me will be the question going forward.
Clay Travis
We shall see. Certainly would be great to start to turn the political tide a bit in, in Minnesota. Who would have thought Minneapolis would be both at the heart of BLM 2.0 and then the, the, the sort of front line of the resistance against enforcement of the law when it comes to immigration. So it would not have been on my, the top five cities I would have thought of as the hotbeds of left wing radicalism apparently. And I have a family friend who just moved down here from, from Minneapolis to South Florida, apparently everyone who lives there knows, oh no in city limits. They're nuts. So this is not a surprise to them.
Buck Sexton
I think it's actually a scary take because again, like I was looking, I was doing my reading this morning and the number of people that never said a word about ICE for the entire time that Barack Obama was in office and have suddenly been mobilized to believe that ICE is the modern day ss, that they're Nazis probably ties in quite well with your book. But Manufacturing Delusion, which will be out in five days, I believe, if I'm not mistaken.
Clay Travis
That is correct, sir.
Buck Sexton
But the degree to which Democrats are able to mobilize people who didn't care about anything at all for decades to suddenly decide that this is the most imminent, dangerous threat that we face in America today, New York City really should scare all of us because they're going to move on to the next new thing. But they really have, on the left wing in this country, managed to mobilize people to fight back against things that have been considered totally standard operating procedure for decades under Democrat presidents, as if it is an existential threat to the nation. And that scares me because, you know, you had a, a guy in this Alex Preddy, who basically everybody stopped talking about as soon as that video of him spitting on ICE agents and kicking the tail light out. Do you notice that, Buck? Everybody was like, oh my God, this guy is unbelievable. Hero, nurse, he was totally innocent, he never admissed. And then the video came out. And I hear almost nothing about Alex Preddy now. But how did a guy like Alex Preddy get radicalized to such an extent? I was reading they had a story in the New York Times about his family. I guess the mom and dad spoke to media in the last day or so. How did this guy go from. They said he grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Mom and dad, sister, no normal family of four. And he just completely lost his mind and decided that his, his, his role in life was to be an obstacle to ice, I don't understand it at all. It's downright scary. We'll talk about that. We'll take some of your calls. A lot of people mad at Buck over the marijuana discussion and, you know, again, continue to direct all your vitriol and Buck's direction. But in all seriousness, we got a bunch of talkbacks on that. We'll play some of that for you and we'll open up phone lines. Also, Linda McMahon, the education secretary, she's got an announcement for us. She is going to join us some of you will know her as the wife of Vince McMahon, legendary WWE founder. We will discuss much with Linda McMahon and then our buddy Jesse Kelly gonna be on with us at 2:30. Many of you hear him on many of the same premier network stations in the evening in the time slot that Buck Sexton used to have. So we will talk with Jesse and with Linda McMahon as well going forward. But it is now college basketball season. Right after the Super Bowl I immediately pivot and I say okay, I'm starting to get a little bit of a fever for March Madness which is coming very, very soon. Last night I kicked my feet up and watched college basketball games. That is after I, you know, I'm really beating my 11 year old. We have a new 6 foot basketball goal downstairs, mini basketball hoop. And you know I'm not really the kind of guy to brag, but if prize picks were setting odds, I'm crushing him every day. Multiple horse games. Dad is the champion. Prize picks would have to set unbelievable odds for you to bet on my fifth grader. Not that I want to throw him under the bus, but I crush him every night. And if price picks were setting odds on this, you would take more on championships that are going to be won by dad. And if you are a college basketball fan, if you are an NBA fan, if you are a basketball fan, heck you're like me. And you're ready for pitchers and catchers to report because not very far till Major league Baseball is going to be back. It's super fun, super easy to play. All you have to do is pick more or less on two or more athletes in your favorite sports. And when you play $5, you get $50 deposited in your account. Is this Intro music?
Clay Travis
I'm sorry, what is this? Guys? What is that?
Buck Sexton
Mexican radio. Mexican radio is named song.
Clay Travis
Well wait, I'm I'm gonna. I'm gonna veto that one.
Buck Sexton
I don't know Mexican radio. I feel like the lead in should be then Bad Bunny did I did we mentioned this yesterday that the Data reflects that 10 million people dropped watching the show and that it was a bad decision by the NFL. And you're probably not going to hear very much about it in legacy media because I actually saw Laura Ingram tweet this and I thought it was very funny that the number of 40 and 50 year olds who are in sports media that fell all over themselves to be like this is the greatest show that I've said.
Clay Travis
It was hilarious.
Buck Sexton
It really is pathetic.
Clay Travis
Like debasing themselves to be cool for a second. You're not cool. You just look debased.
Buck Sexton
I'm 56 and I've never seen a better halftime show in my life. You're like really? You didn't even understand any of the words from it. But the vast majority of the American public, it was the most turned off abandoned halftime show in the history of the Super Bowl. So everybody out there, the data tells the truth. Usually the super bowl peaks at the halftime show. It is the most watched historically most watched part of the Super Bowl. Instead second quarter peak for Super bowl viewership just shy of 10 million people abandoned the bad bunny show. That is the data is out there. You can look it up. The fact that you probably didn't hear it from anybody else is a function of it goes against the narrative that this was a brilliant move to put a Spanish speaking performer on at halftime. I think the big picture story I would say Buck is take away Jay Z's right to pick the halftime show. I think Jay Z can appeal to a niche segment of the American public and that niche segment of the American public does not correspond to the average super bowl viewer. And the data now is out there. Kendrick Lamar last year also it peaked before him. Still a lot of people watch football because people like Football. So the NFL, when they actually just focus on football, does well. But I do think this data matters.
Clay Travis
If you, if you said a naughty word 15 years ago, a ra. You know, a racist word, your career could be destroyed. Or at least until recently, that's the way the rules were. Jay Z sold crack to desperate people, to desperate members of his own community. I'm curious, did he sell crack to any pregnant women? Did he ever, you know, I'm wondering, does anyone ever stop to think about this stuff? These people who are held up as, you know, cultural icons and titans of industry. What if they're actually just scumbags?
Buck Sexton
It's a great question. I'll just point this out. Snoop Dogg was charged with murder. Wasn't convicted. Charged with murder, though everybody loves him now. Maybe Morgan Wallen could do the super bowl halftime show because he said a naughty word on video. I'm just going to. Let's have some standard of decency that applies evenly here.
Clay Travis
If your Cell phone company's AT&T T mobile or Verizon, you're spending way more than you need to be. Switch your cell phone service to PureTalk and put money back into your account. PureTalk service is on the same towers and same network, so it is the exact same quality of actual cell phone Service. But for $25 a month, PureTalk gives you unlimited talk, text, and plenty of data. Now compare that to your cell phone bill, you're spending a whole lot more. Right? PureTalk is an American wireless company, one that supports our veterans and invests in a US Only customer service team. So when you call, you're talking to someone right here in the U.S. no contract, no cancellation fee. Just dial £250. Say the keywords Clay and Buck. You'll get 50% off your first month. Again, dial £250, say Clay and Buck. To make the switch to Pure Talk.
Tom Homan
We continue to enforce Title A immigration law throughout this nation, prioritizing national security threats and public safety risks. Makes sense. But I will continue to say over and over again, if you are here in the country illegally, you are not exempt from our immigration laws. If we encounter you, we'll take appropriate enforcement action. For those that say we are backing down from immigration enforcement or the promise of mass deportations, you are simply wrong. Look at the data record number of arrests and deportations, and we'll continue that effort. Prioritizing public safety threats and national security threats doesn't mean we'll forget about everybody else. We will take action on everybody else. That's just a stone Cold fact.
Clay Travis
Clay. Tom Holman speaking here about what the plan is going forward for these immigration, immigration enforcement operations. I've always, I mean, like I said from the very beginning, he's the guy for this job. I think he should have been given this main control over this specific portfolio from the beginning. I think Trump has done that now, which is the right move. I think that this is just, it was beyond Gnomes background to handle something as complex and sensitive as these kind of deportation operations without running afoul of some of the bear traps that the libs are putting out there. So that's going on right now. The Democrats are very upset about this. Do you know that Morning Joe is still a show? It's still going. And so I got to give them credit for a second. You know, I thought maybe Scarborough was going to hang up his zip sweater and just play croquet and spend time at the Nantucket Golf Club or whatever. For the, for the. No, no, they're still doing this show.
Buck Sexton
I think your call that he may run. Yeah, still not a bad one there. Like I, absolutely. That's a crazy one.
Clay Travis
If, if I were, if I were the like shameless PR hack hired by Joe Scarborough or if I was his consigliere, I would be like, you absolutely should run the next Democrat because it's nothing but upside. Nothing but upside. You get to get all this platform, you get all this attention again, you position yourself as the sort of centrist Democrat, you know, a throwback to JFK or something like, you know, whatever.
Public Sponsor/Announcer
Right.
Clay Travis
I mean, you could do a million different. The guy does have pretty good hair, I'm not going to lie. Ok. The guy's got pretty decent hair. So that gets him, that gets him somewhere. And you know, I think that that could be a move. But Mika, Mika's very, she's very huffy, very upset, does not like what Tom Homan has to say.
Mika Brzezinski
Play six new NBC new polls find a majority of Americans have negative views of nearly every aspect of President Trump's aggressive immig and deportation tactics. What they did in Minneapolis, including killing people at point blank range, shooting them in the head or in the back nine times and then accusing them moments later of deserving it. People don't like that. People don't like seeing people murdered in the streets and then blamed for being murdered.
Clay Travis
Tom Holman, no ignorant wine and Xanax swilling second wives in fancy suburbs need their spokesperson to play. So to be fair, this is not anything that is out of, out of the ordinary for Mika. The, the presentation, the emotion. Oh my gosh, Tom Holman.
Mika Brzezinski
So horrible.
Clay Travis
They're trying to make this a big thing. I don't, I don't know that it. I might call this one a draw, if you will. I. I feel like a lot was done in Minneapolis. They did manage to mess things up a bit. The left managed to mess things up a bit. But I think a lot of the mission probably was accomplished. So I'm not totally sold that either side really won the day, if you, if you get my drift.
Buck Sexton
I think you have to go back and kind of analyze how we ended up in the position in Minnesota that we did. And remember, all of this started with the viral YouTube of Nick Shirley, I believe is his name. Right. If I'm not getting that wrong. That found out that the Somali fraud when it came to daycares was gargantuan on a scale that very few people had recognized. That video went mega viral on Twitter in particular. And then we saw a surge of resources in Minneapolis and the battle shifted. And then, by the way, Tim Walls resigned, basically said, I'm not going to seek reelection. My political career is over. I do think it's worth putting out there. Is it possible that Amy Klobuchar, who is now running for governor of Minne, Minnesota, if she wins, could appoint Tim Walls to her Senate seat to serve out the remainder of the time there? He said he won't run. First of all, politicians lie all the time when situations change. So he said he won't run, but is it possible that he could be appointed to the Senate and that they've basically agreed to a change? I don't know. I mean, I would still put that out there on the horizon of possibilities, but you have a situation where Tim Walls resigns. Everything in the Minnesota Democrat Party is in shambles. ICE surges and then they change the story from fraud in Minneapolis and fraud in the state of Minnesota overall to ICE our modern day Nazis. And that to me was the pivot. So if you look at the big picture here, Tim Walls's political career is over. There are way more people who have been arrested for violent crimes that should not have ever been in this country. There is an agreement that now inside of Minnesota jails and prisons, they will allow ICE to take over these individuals who are arrested, which. Let me pause here for a moment. How has that ever been allowed to not occur? That is the Democrat orthodoxy in all these so called sanctuary cities. It is that when they arrest people engaging in violent behavior, that they will then release them back out onto the streets rather than notify ice, so that ICE could begin the process of deportation. That is Democrat orthodoxy. Think about that for a minute. Someone is arrested for committing a crime, and rather than notify ice, hey, we have an illegal alien here who should not be in the country. You should take possession of them. They have clearly violated their rights to stay in this country. They release them back out onto the streets. That's how Lake and Riley ended up being dead. I don't think a lot of people have followed that thread.
Clay Travis
She.
Buck Sexton
That she is dead because New York arrested an illegal immigrant, I think multiple times. Buck put him back out onto the streets. He then made his way down to the Athens, Georgia area and murdered Lake and Riley. And this has happened all over the country. So if it is true that Minnesota has now said, we will let you know when we have illegals in our possession who have committed crimes, this is actually a big win. And, and it won't be acknowledged as such, but I do think that that is a significant alteration in policy.
Clay Travis
Imagine that you are the NYPD officer who arrested the murderer of Lake and Riley in New York before, of course, the Lake and Riley rape and murder happened. Imagine you're that cop. And you. And you know, I forget what the guy was arrested for, but you know, this guy's committed a real crime, and you take him in and doing everything, and you know this is a bad guy, and you know that it's a violation of federal law that he's in the country. This guy's an illegal. But if you call ice, if you speak to your law enforcement counterparts, say, hey, we've got this guy, you're going to get reprimanded, you might get suspended. I don't even know how. You're definitely going to get in trouble with your superiors. Maybe you'll get fired. I don't know. And then imagine that you read in the newspaper some months after you are prohibited by your superiors from doing the obvious thing that I'm sure some cops in the NYPD wish they could have done. I'm sure many of them wish they could have done, which is call ice, get this person who is a member. Well, now we're talking about people who are. I mean, how many of us have gone to prison or gone to jail for, like, serious crimes? Not that many. Point here is that these are people who are in a. In a jail because they've done something bad and they're in the country illegally. Imagine you're that cop, Clay. You had made that arrest. You had processed this individual, you were prohibited from telling ice, and then an incredible young woman is, is brutally raped and murdered by that guy because he's still in the country. I think that would, I think that would haunt you. And I, I'm not blaming the officer because I understand this is the system they have to go with the rules they have. But I think that's a tough thing to carry in your conscience. And the fact that it would be a tough thing to carry in your conscience tells you a lot about the decisions that are being made by people in places like New York and Minneapolis when it comes to illegals.
Buck Sexton
And also, Buck, this goes back to the delusion, the manufacturer delusion you've been writing about to convince Democrats that it is their constitutional obligation to fight in favor of illegal immigrants. Being able to violate our laws and continue to be able to stay in this country is, it's crazy. I mean, this. If, if sometimes you look around and you think to yourself, because I do, and I can only imagine for people who are older than us, but you look around, you think, I thought it was only eight years ago that basically the entire country agreed on, hey, violent illegals shouldn't be in the country and we should kick them out immediately. You're not wrong. It's just staggering how quickly they have managed to convince a left wing cadre of this country that they should be standing up and fighting on behalf of illegal immigrants being able to stay here even if they commit violent acts. It's kind of scary, honestly.
Clay Travis
And this is what the Democrat party has been doing for how many decades now have they been engaged in this kind of stuff? And think of the losses, the families that have been shattered, whether it's by an illegal drunk driving and killing someone, or killing a whole carload full of people, or an illegal raping and murdering. And what they want to say on the other side is always, yeah, but of course, you know, there are crimes committed by Americans. The point is these illegals should not have been here to be able to prey upon or injure Americans, period, in the first place. And the government has actively, actively subverted its own laws. It is subverting these sanctuary cities are subverting the will of Congress. They can play games about federalism and states rights and all this stuff as much as they want. We all know what's going on. They are subverting the express will of the United States Congress through federal law by refusing to allow for law enforcement cooperation. It's an outrage. And it's all on the, it's, it's on the Democrat party and unfortunately some Republicans who are basically open borders too, and some really crappy libertarian think tank funded studies that are garbage. That's really the heart of this problem and it needs to be cast out, it needs to be fixed. And, and Clay, I think we are in the process of, of getting there, but time is of the essence. Democrats looking to take Democrats looking to take back the House.
Buck Sexton
Time is also of the essence when it comes to protecting your home and those you love. There's a big article in the Wall Street Journal. I was reading it this morning as I was getting ready for the show about how super wealthy people have taken protections of their homes and to a level never seen before in this country, the amount they have lasers outside the home, they have moats, they have safe rooms that are 100% steel. They have sometimes acres of property underground with their own systems in place to allow them to be able to survive in times of peril. Most of us can't afford things like that, but we can afford all sorts of protections, particularly if they're non lethal. And maybe you got kids and grandkids running all over your house. My kids and their friends run all over the house all the time. And we want to make sure that we're safe here, but we also want to make sure that we have access to non lethal ways to protect this household. And that's where saber comes in. They do a great job. They have pepper sprays, pepper gels, stun guns, whatever you might need out there to protect your, your family. Maybe you got kids going off to college, late night jobs just driving around. You got granddaughters and daughters going into different parking garages late at night and you just worry about them. Pepper spray can make a huge difference. Maybe you are in your home and you're worried about who might be trying to come in your house late at night, but you also got kids and grandkids coming in at all hours. That's where non lethal home protection can make a difference. Just trust me on this. Go check out sabre radio.com that's S A B R E radio.com 844-824 safe sabradio.com 844-824 Safe.

Linda McMahon gonna join us SEC Secretary of Education at the top of the next hour, but we got a bunch of podcast talkbacks. And then our buddy Jesse Kelly, top of the third hour. Let me hit some of these. A lot of people still weighing in on the Savannah Guthrie kidnapping. No more news on. Sorry. The Nancy Guthrie kidnapping. Savannah Guthrie's daughter. Still one of the major news stories out there, Mike. 25 years retired law enforcement. Cut D. Hey, guys.
Mike (Caller)
Mike with 25 years of retired law enforcement, man, this guy that, that did the kidnapping is definitely a whack job. He is no pro. Nobody shows up at a house to grab their target and plays around putting grass over the camera. I mean, come on. That is like the most, the most lamest thing I've ever seen. You hit the house hard, you get your target, and you're out of there. That's it. This guy is clearly, clearly not a professional hitman.
Buck Sexton
Well, we still have no idea what happened. I do think that's an interesting take because there is the video of him with like the grass sage or whatever it is walking.
Clay Travis
I don't think, just to be clear, we never said we thought he was like a pro. It's just he planned it. He clearly it wasn't a guy who was in the neighborhood who's like, you know what? I'm about to do a kidnapping now.
Buck Sexton
Yeah. What we were saying was he covered his entire body to avoid leaving any trace evidence. It appears now, yes. Was he maybe messy outside? He did manage to cut the cameras and they didn't find it for a long time. Doesn't sound like. All right, let's see a bunch of people reacting to the cannabis interview we had yesterday with Alex Baronson cut a Linda in Hawaii.
Clay Travis
You know, this is really my pet peeve with you guys. Marijuana is a bad influence. Well, what do you think gambling is? And yet you personally support it?
Buck Sexton
Not cool. Yeah. Look, I don't think you should be unable to smoke pot. I just think the conversation about pot as not dangerous. The data is actually starting to reflect that it is. And by the way, I love gambling on sports. I don't think you should wager your life savings on who's going to win a football game or a basketball game or anything else. I like drinking alcohol. I don't think that you should become so inebriated on a regular basis that you become an alcoholic. I think moderation in many respects is the key to life. So I like alcohol. I like gambling. I like sugar. I drink, eat. I like cobbler. I kind of like a lot of the things that are not that healthy for you.
Clay Travis
So I do think Clay is apparently the. The king of vice on this.
Buck Sexton
I'm the king of vice, but. So I think you need to understand the consequences. There's this idea that pot has no negative consequences, and it has tremendous negative consequences.
Clay Travis
And this is why people should. The debate right now is that people should at least have. It should be honest. Right? It's like when people were smoking cigarettes because their doctors told them that it was good for them. Like, that's wrong. That's a lie. It's killing people. It's bad. We're not saying you got to ban all cigarettes, but we are saying, you know, you should know at least what's really going on. And, you know, drinking in excess is bad. Gambling excess is bad. A lot of things in excess are bad. So, you know, these are the questions that society must grapple with. Clay is grappling with them here.
Buck Sexton
What.
Clay Travis
What do we got?
Buck Sexton
No, I think that's right. We'll come back with Linda McMahon. By the way, I like wrestling. I don't think you should jump off the top turnbuckle a hundred times either. We'll talk about it next.
Tom Homan
Foreign.

The conversation is sharp, irreverent, and driven by a blend of political skepticism, conservative critique, and a wry sense of humor—true to the show's brand. Buck and Clay oscillate between serious policy analysis and lighthearted cultural banter, emphasizing their roles as both commentators and entertainers. Clay frequently turns the conversation back to the larger sociopolitical picture, while Buck brings analytical specificity and vivid hypotheticals to underline policy consequences.
This episode of The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show examines the politics and outcomes of a major ICE drawdown in Minneapolis, raising questions about local-federal cooperation on immigration and the impact of “sanctuary city” policies. The hosts argue that, contrary to progressive claims, the drawdown comes with a significant policy shift—local authorities now agreeing to turn over violent illegal immigrants. Political consequences loom large in Minnesota’s upcoming state and federal elections, which both hosts frame as a referendum on Democrats’ immigration policies. The show's irreverent style is on full display, skewering both left-wing media outrage and the NFL’s cultural programming, while engaging with listeners on hot-button topics like marijuana legalization and American vice.
