Buck Sexton
Welcome in everybody. Second hour of the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton show kicks off right now and we are joined by Katie Zachariah, our California Consiliary. He joins us to tell us about all things political, legal and otherwise from the Golden State. Katie, thanks for joining us again. Great to have you.
Katie Zachariah
Thank you. Bright and sunny out here, I bet.
Buck Sexton
California and Florida around this time of year, early February. We we have to watch out, Katie. We can be a little smug. We have a lot of listeners in the Dakotas and Minnesota and Maine and Alaska and we don't want to be too smug about the fact that we're walking around in T shirts and enjoying the beautiful weather. We wouldn't want to talk about that on the radio show. So tell me, speaking of smug Democrats, they think that they're just going to waltz back into the Governor's Mansion. Tell me the latest state of play and also some of the milestones here, like what comes up the, the, the gubernatorial primary for your state. Of course, America's most populous state is coming up here pretty soon. What's happening?
Katie Zachariah
Well, it's actually quite the shocker for anyone that pays attention to our deep blue state is basically we have Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco really at the top of Almost every poll, -2 Public Policy Institute of California, which is essentially a deep blue poll company. And then we have the bold decision which has Democrats at a plus 20. But to have, and then you have about seven to 10 other polls looking at Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco really neck and neck depending on the poll, one is pulling ahead of the other. However, California is an open primary. So what that means is you get the top two candidates at the, at the very top. So if it's Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco, then it's going to be two Republicans going at the very end in the general election, which is a, it's an interesting place to be. If we had voter ID Buck, I could say we'd likely get a Republican in, in 26. I have my doubts without any kind of regulation on who's going to those polls.
Buck Sexton
So who are the Democrats right now that are in the mix? It's, is it really Swalwell leading the pack? Is that, is that even whatever happened to Katie Porter?
Katie Zachariah
Well, Katie Porter kind of went up in flames. But it wouldn't surprise you that the Public Policy Institute of California, as I mentioned before, the Deep Blue polling company has Porter at a plus seven. I think if we just ran over and over reran those episodes of her screaming at her staff and yelling at reporters, we might see that poll go down. I think it's a fake poll, much as much to the same as we've seen nationwide with fake polling. And then bold decision has the plus 20 Democrats. But the thing is, is we don't, they don't really have a good Democrat Swalwell they have, they have investigated is not a resident of California and so he's not going to be able to run at least right now as a governor.
Buck Sexton
Is that, is that real? Has that pretty much been determined that his residency is an issue? He's not just going to be able to push that aside if we look.
Katie Zachariah
At all the facts. He didn't show up at the debate. He hasn't been talking about it any longer. So piecing to get piecing it together during this investigation, what I would say is he got busted and he's maybe trying to redraw what it, what, what he's going to do, but we're not sure. Swallow would be an awful candidate. As you know, he has, he doesn't care about the law, he doesn't care about leaks. He doesn't care about really anything that has to do with the Constitution or law and order. He wants to demask ICE agents, he wants to take away their driver's license. Both in violation of the supremacy clause of our Constitution. This guy is such a loser. So if he gets in the race, it would be an embarrassment for California even more than Gavin Newsom, if he even got near the top.
Buck Sexton
How do you see this playing out? I mean, I'm asking for a bit of a prediction prognostication from you on this, but take us into how, how you think this, how you think this primary plays out, and then what we're looking at going into the actual general election this fall.
Katie Zachariah
So you have this sneaky candidate, man, that kind of came up through. He's a mayor and he's kind of come up through. Got an endorsement and kind of a hat tip by our former mayoral candidate Rick Caruso. He's, he's a kind of a moderate Democrat, but as everyone knows, there's no such thing as a moderate Democrat anymore. And it's just a mask that they put on. Much like Abigail Spanberger in, in Virginia, it's a mask they put on to appeal to Republicans that will, oh, let me, let me try to vote for someone that can win instead of a Republican. Look, people need to put their stake their all their stock. They need to put their vote behind a good Republican and they need to push that as hard as they can. Right now, if you get Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco, what would be nice is one concedes to the other and becomes a lieutenant governor and that's the way you're going to get a Republican in California. You can't have these two guys that are pretty popular going after each other. They need to be focusing on going after the Democrats because that is the stronghold in California. And if they can eventually team up Buck, it's my opinion that maybe we could see maybe at some point a Republican. I don't know if we do it in this cycle again. As I said, we have voter ID on the ballot as a ballot measure. Carl Di Mao and assemblyman has done an amazing job with reform California. Elon Musk has voiced his support for this ballot initiative. It's an 8020 issue in California. But until we have that on the ballot, until we have that in our election system, statewide elections, we're probably not going to see a Republican.
Buck Sexton
Now. I thought that they were going to sweep aside all of the regulations after that terrible Palisades fire. They told us they were going to move super fast. Gavin Newsom was like, it's going to be lightning speed. It's going to be amazing. And yet that hasn't happened. We've talked to you about that before. Additionally, the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, she. It has come out well. Tell everybody. The mayor's office is supposed to release a report about how the mayor's office handled the fire. Basically. How has that been going?
Katie Zachariah
Well, actually, I'm just going to lead out of the hatch. The LA Times wrote an article on this and she said the Mayor Bass released a watered down report. If this were Republican, you know, the Times would be just absolutely shredding that mayor. The mayor is criminally negligent and liable for the Palisades fire and then a massive cover up. The LA Times deserves a big smack on this because she like, she actually maliciously covered up a report that was supposed to be a transparent report on how the fire was handled. And don't you love watered down? Well, that's about the only thing that's been watered down in the Palisades. There was an entire week that a brush fire had been started that should have actually been watered down. And because she was in Ghana and had no oversight and had actually defunded or at least cut the budget by a large part for LA county and, and statewide California fire insurance or fire budget, firefighters budget, they were not doing their job or they were not even given the ability to do their job and go put out that fire. So huge negligence, criminal negligence. In my mind, Mayor Bass, if this were any other state than California and Los Angeles county, she should be resigning in shame. Not just for that report, but for how she's handled this the entire time. But somehow they just keep getting away with it and there's not enough buck. The problem with conservatives, there's not enough outrage from the conservatives, from Republicans or even moderates. They just, they, they get outraged at ridiculous stuff and they don't get outraged at what actually is disturbing behavior on behalf of Mayor Bass and Gavin Newsom.
Buck Sexton
You know, Billie Eilish had that little rant about stolen land in your. Did she. Is she in Malibu? You know, these fancy places. She got like a mansion, a mansion somewhere like that. And now the tribe that claims that this was Originally, their land is asking Billy to hand it over. I don't see why. I'm sure Gavin Newsom and others would applaud this, but I doubt Billie Eilish is actually going to hand over her stolen land.
Katie Zachariah
Everyone likes to go up during the Grammys or Golden Globes or whatever, you know, award show that's happening in Hollywood that's just a snooze festival and, and talk about these major terms like defund ice or ice out and, you know, stolen land. But then when they actually are on stolen land and the tribe to say, hey, maybe, maybe you should give us the land back that your house sits on. I doubt she's going to do it, though. A law firm has decided to represent the tribe and is pursuing her and pursuing the land. And I think that this is, you know, comedic justice for her. You want to get up and say it, you got to, you know, put your money where your mouth is.
Buck Sexton
Also. I just wonder when they're going to figure out that it's not even America that stole the land initially. It would be the Spanish conquistador, the Spanish expansion and conquistadors that took the land, and then we took it from them. So I feel like at this point it should be a wash. One more thing. Did, did you get a chance outside of your state? But we just talked about this. I know you're very, you're very into fitness. You're. You're a mom of four, right? So you're. You're a mom of four who finds time to be very into health and wellness and fitness. Did you see this video of the Banshee yogis in Minneapolis shouting at the employees over ice enforcement issues? Tell me this doesn't happen in, like, most California yoga studios, does it? Isn't everyone supposed to just smell incense, listen to wind chimes and bend into different positions? Like, this was kind of an outrageous.
Katie Zachariah
I, I have not seen this video, but it doesn't.
Buck Sexton
Oh, you haven't seen the video? Oh, we gotta send it to you. I mean, the short version is that it's at a core power yoga class and like 13 women surround two of the employees and are. And they're just shouting at them because they won't put ice, like, not allowed here signs in the yoga studio windows. I mean, you're in California. I feel like even for Californians, that's a little aggressive.
Katie Zachariah
That is aggressive. And the, the truth is, is it actually, it goes to, like, the Renee Good and it goes to the indoctrination happening especially in Minnesota, where You have, you know, Governor Waltz calling ICE the Gestapo, et cetera, et cetera. Really, this is the, the, to use the word woke mind virus actually doesn't encapsulate the entirety of what's happening with an entire population of people that have been completely, you know, have turned against even their core values. If you talk about yoga, it's like what inner peace and, and health, forgiveness and love of your neighbor. I mean all of these types of concepts have gone out the window for or even a mom of three who's now, you know, who drove into an ICE agent. It's, it's pretty disturbing. Where are they getting it? Tick tock or some kind of online indoctrination forum that's making these people beyond tds. It's just completely outraged all the time.
Buck Sexton
One more thing we're going to have to have you back to talk about. It's kind of a preview but, but now you have to come back and hang out with us. And Clay will be back for that one. He is, he's busy having fun at the big game for the weekend. But there's an anti, a Trump anti fraud task force that is now targeting California and it's going to be led by J.D. vance. You see, J.D. vance is going to turn into the rooting out fraud guy here in California. I bet he's going to find crazy stuff.
Katie Zachariah
So you look at what they've said is perhaps 19 billion in Minnesota and you have, you know, maybe a 5.23 million population in California. We're almost at 40 million people. It's an enormous state. The estimate, estimated fraud is probably, and I'm just going to go part by part. You know, you look at the, the damage done to the Palisades, 250 billion, probably around 250 billion in fraud or more. And it's perfect that it's going to be J.D. vance because if Gavin Newsom does get the endorsement otherwise other than from Vogue and New York Times. But is the Democrat darling for the presidential run and he goes against J.D. vance, he's going to have to answer directly for the fraud that JD Vance is looking at in California. I think it's perfect. Especially ahead of FIFA and the Olympics. It's, I think California is about to go up in flames and not literally.
Buck Sexton
Katie Zachariah, California Consulari, thank you so much for being here. And as always, and you're actually, you are a counsel because you're a lawyer. And are you going to be on FOX tonight or we have to wait a couple of days when's the next time.
Katie Zachariah
So not FOX tonight. I've been Fox all week. But I will tell you cnn, a big debate tonight. Political debate. Right on.
Buck Sexton
Wait, you're going to be on the cnn? Are you going to be on the the Abby. What's that show? Is that the show?
Katie Zachariah
Alex Michaelson was on a local Fox network and he moved to CNN. And I'm going to this will be my second time with Alex Michaelson at 9pm Pacific. So it's a little bit late, but I welcome the opportunity to debate any liberal on any cause. And, and the last one was very successful. We had a, we had a really good time and I definitely won.
Buck Sexton
Well, people can set their DVRs, if not up that late, but definitely check it out. And if you give us the clip, Katie, we'll put it up@clambuck.com so everyone can see it. Keep up the great work and we'll talk to you soon.
Katie Zachariah
Thank you.

Clay, Travis and Buck Sex. Welcome back in here to Clay and Buck. We got some talk back split. Hit them a Tim from Minnesota let's hear this is Tim from Minnesota. Honestly, best part of my day. Yes Minnesota. Unfortunately best part of my day was listening to you read that prize picks promo. That was absolutely classic. Trying to decipher the. The yardage and the passing touchdowns from the football players. That was great. Keep up the great work. Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was kind of a brain teaser. Like, wait a second, how do you get more than a touchdown? I don't understand. I don't understand. It's not a two point conversion because that's part of the touchdown. So I guess it's then just in the numbers. But this is why, again, this is Clay. That's Clay's world. I roll on his picks. I don't, I don't. Although, although we did pick different teams for the big game. But yeah, I am learning about the football still. And Pam from Alaska listens on Ken I Radio up there in Alaska. B. Hit it.
Katie Zachariah
Hey, Buck. I know you and Clay have talked about this before, but it really does seem that these women are so broken. It just seems like so much of their identity has been stripped away and devalued. It's not high value to be a wife or a mom and they just have these gaping holes that they fill. Imagine if that same energy could be redirected to fighting animal cruelty or helping kids in a foster system. Something positive and rewarding.
Buck Sexton
Totally agree. I think that's excellent analysis. If you want to save the world, start at home, meaning your own home, meaning be a great mom, a great dad, a great son, a great daughter, husband, wife, all of the above. And then help the people around you. Really easy to march. I want to save everybody. Everybody from ice. You're not saving anybody from ice. You're just yelling at people on the street and being annoying. All right. There's no need to overpay for cell phone service these days. Switch to Pure Talk, my cell phone carrier, and save hundreds of dollars while not sacrificing service. How many of the guys out there in this audience? I know a lot of, A lot of the ladies. The ladies like yoga produce producer Ali used to teach yoga. If you have any yoga teaching stories, producer Ali, by all means did Moby show up frequently.
Katie Zachariah
I never taught yoga. I took yoga. I took hot yoga. 105 degrees.
Buck Sexton
Oh, well, you know, I like there's a perfectly good embellishment of your resume that I thought we could just go with. Sorry, I have to be honest.
Katie Zachariah
I, I.
Buck Sexton
Okay. She didn't teach it. She was a she. But she loved the yoga. She used to do a lot of yoga. Love to do the yoga.
Katie Zachariah
You're confusing. It's spin. I did.
Buck Sexton
Oh, I'm sorry. You were a cycle instructor.
Katie Zachariah
Spin instructor. Correct.
Buck Sexton
Spin instructor, yeah. Spin instrument. Okay, that's just so you guys know. She used to be a fitness instructor. She was a spin instructor, not yoga. I mean, you know, it's tough to. It's all the lycra and the ladies and the girl power. I can't keep it all straight. Okay, I'm busy. Over by Fighting for the Republic, we understand, or fighting by the Fighting for the Republic. Yes, that's actually true. I was going to say over by the bench press. I'm like, oh, that looks heavy. But yes, indeed. Thank you, producer Ally. So there we go. She's. She was a former spin instructor, I assume. Antifa. Never, like, came running into the class and interrupted things. But I wonder how many of the guys here. I will say that I know plenty of guys who are weekend warrior athletes like me. I'm a pure weekend warrior at this point. Try to get out there a few times. I'm either doing tennis or shooting on the weekend pretty much is what I try to do. And some gym stuff. And I think every guy that I know who actually does some, something, you know what they call, you know, what the cool kids call it, guys? Mobility work. That's what we call it, mobility work, which is a fancy way of saying stretching, basically. I know it's a little different than that, but there, it's like that kind of stuff. It's, you know, it's, it's the, not the lifting, the heavy stuff. It's the stretching to make sure that you don't end up, you know, snapping your Achilles or Pulling your rotator cuff or you know what, whatever, whatever that stuff may be. So every guy I know who actually starts to get into that stuff says that it's really good, but I might just have to try a yoga class. The other thing is, I actually told wifey, wifey was at Pilates yesterday, Pilates class. Now, as a guy, I feel like I can go with my wife to Pilates class, but do guys go alone to Pilates class? Is that a thing? I don't know. Because you never want to be that guy that's in the pilates class with 10 women. And it's like, why is this guy in the class? You know, Then you gotta be like, it's okay. I'm happily married and I have a, I have a baby at home and a little dog. And I'm just here to work on my core strength. Like, that's all fine. But I feel like you want to say that if you're the one guy in the pilates class with 10 or 15, especially here in Miami, extremely fit young women, or women, you know who. You can't tell how old they are because they're so fit. They might be 30, 40, 50, who knows? Yeah. So I might have to get into some of that mobility work and try some of the stuff out. It is very good for you. You know, just like I used to hear people say, walk more and I would go, ugh. Is that really like, like that's going to help my health? It's actually essential. Walking is like a cheat code, as the kids say. Walking is incredible. I'm a huge advocate for walking and, and I always give credit, I love. There's a D.J. shipley of GBRS group who. Amazing gear, amazing training. You guys can all go check out GBRS group and if you ever get the chance to go train with them, it's, you know, whether. If you're active law enforcement and you got the budget for it, I would go do it. But if you're also just somebody who just wants to learn from the very best, you want to, you want to have that experience. They do great stuff. But he's a huge advocate. DJ is a huge advocate for just 20 minute walk with your spouse, like every day. It doesn't matter. You don't have to go to the Grand Canyon, you don't have to do. It doesn't have to be a thing. It can be around the block, around the. You want it to be easy around the block, wherever you are. You know, if you're in a city, if you're on an old country road. You just, you just go and you walk, you keep your phones away. Just 20 minutes together every day. I think it's really, really important. Carrie and I try to do it every day as well. So, yeah, walking, it's one of those things that people say and you go, yeah, but it's actually really important. And who knows, maybe I'll work yoga into the thing. I think if Clay and I team did some yoga in a class, you know, this would be great content for the show to just sort of share our experiences here. But first we have to make sure that Clay can make it from Alcatraz to the shore without being eaten by a great white shark. So we have our, we have our hands full. That's his. What, did I set up a challenge for myself? I forget. That's his challenge. We've already discussed. I'm going to be in the launch boat with like a very dry, warm, you know, fleece on, probably a little beanie hat, some hot cocoa. And I'm just going to be yelling faster, faster. While Clay is trying to swim in the water. We're going to video this for you. It's going to be great. I'm going to be yelling, go. Maybe mush. Isn't that what they say with the sled dogs? Mush, mush. But I guess he's in the water, not technically in the snow. He get the idea. We do like to put some of these. We're two middle aged guys with families and we like to put out these, these challenges for ourselves and, and it's a, it's a whole lot of fun. Oh, speaking of middle aged guys, it's quite a transition. Trump was talking about something that I think is actually going to matter a whole lot for. What does it matter a whole lot? It matters. I don't want to overstate it. It matters for the midterms and it's prescription drug prices because clearly there are problems with this stuff. And I got to tell you, every time, you know, I have to deal with this for whatever, you know, I've got, I gotta get a prescription for this or I got a prescription for that. Anytime I deal with this stuff, I just, I'm amazed at how much bureaucracy and how much nonsense and the difference in prices too. It's all just such a mess. It should not be this complicated. It has been made so complicated by bad and made so expensive in many cases by bad policy. Here is Trump talking about this issue and he's just saying they're, we're just Slashing prices on a lot of these prescription medications, particularly that seniors need. Cut seven.
iHeartRadio Announcer

Bring down prescription drug prices and make health care more affordable.
iHeartRadio Announcer
But they all failed.
Buck Sexton
It was all words, as usual.
iHeartRadio Announcer
They failed and they failed badly.
Buck Sexton
They tried doing this, some of them, most of them didn't even try because.
iHeartRadio Announcer
They never really had a shot at it.
Buck Sexton
But I'm actually getting it done and it is done.
iHeartRadio Announcer
Actually, this launch represents the largest reduction in prescription drug prices in history.
Buck Sexton
Trumprx.gov that is where he's saying you can go and get much better pricing than you could previously on a lot of these things. You know, keep in mind that part of this is we want to incentivize the drug companies to make things that save lives or that, that improve lives. And there's a lot of that. There's a lot of that going on. There's a lot of amazing stuff that's available now. And there's a reason why people are living longer than ever. There's a reason why people are living longer and have much more full utilization of their bodies, like, can do more active and can do more things than they used to be able to do. I mean, there are people in their 60s and 70s now who they're, you know, and into their 80s who are doing like everything. I mean, even at the gym that I go to, which is a full of, a lot of people who probably spend too much time working out. But there are guys there in their 70s. They look fantastic. They're deadlifting. I mean, truly people really doing amazing stuff as they're getting older and older. Medicine is a big, you know, diet, exercise. There's a lot of pieces that all come together when you're talking about that longevity, health and wellness piece. But we want to incentivize the treatments that will help all this stuff. We also don't want it to be on unduly burdensome on the public. There's, there's always a balancing act here, right? You want the drug company to have a period of time where they're going to make money and it's profitable for them. But what you don't have, what you don't want to have is drugs that have been around forever that you can only get from one place. And therefore they're jacking up the Price. And, you know, there's a lot of intrusions into the market here and a lot of rent seeking, a lot of middlemen that just should be cut out of this process. And this brings me to FDA commissioner, doctor, doctor, Dr. McCary, who is one of the very rare heroes from the medical community side of things during the pandemic, a truth teller. And we really appreciated him. And absolutely, it's fantastic the Trump administration brought him in to a senior role to do something here with the fda, to be the FDA commissioner, but to do something about American health. And he points out that they just are getting rid of people that are intermediaries, right? There's people who make the drug and then there are people who need the drug in the general public. It should go from one to the other. There shouldn't be someone in the middle that's able because, remember, you have to get a prescription. So there's all these rules around this stuff. There shouldn't be some intermediary who's jacking up those prices. And Dr. Makary of the FDA is saying enough is enough. Play 9 Pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, which is an arm of the insurance companies, have many shell games to skim money off the top. So by going direct and buying the drug from those who make the drug, this is ushering in new era in health care. Trump Rx is the beginning of a new chapter in American health care where for the first time, you can buy the drug from those who make it, because those who make it have been complaining about the many middlemen in health care that have been siphoning billions out of the system. And this has been my area in health policy research when I was at Johns Hopkins. The amount of money games that go on with health care's middlemen, which is a function of the complexity of the system, are unbelievable. It's a whole bunch of people that are just making it more expensive for you to get drugs that you need. And they're doing something about this. They're taking action and they're going to be bringing down these prices. And remember, this is not. People would say, oh, but I thought we'd like. Drug companies are not free. This is not a free market. That's the point. There's so much government regulation, so much intrusion into that marketplace already by government entities, including preventing, you know, preventing people from making generics or, or, you know, the, all the different patent issues or preventing people from being able to produce this at scale. The FDA hasn't given them the clearance they need to be Able to set the, all this stuff. Gotta get all that noise out of the way. And you got great American drug manufacturers, okay? We want them made here, not in. I don't want them made in China. I don't want us dependent on China for like all of our antibiotics, which has been the case, I might add. We can make this stuff here. We can make stuff because we, we. That's a, that's a, an issue of, of our own safety and security too. We want to have control of these, of these pipelines and, and yes, we're capitalists. We want them to make money, of course, but we don't want people to insert themselves and like, like a leech or like a, like a tick engorging itself on the general public here, taking more money than what is necessary in getting people the drugs they need. So I, again, it's not as, you know, it's not a crazy, like sexy cool story to talk about drug prices, but it matters. It matters to all of us. You know, I mean, I got all the stuff. I do. I got blepharitis in my eyes. Sorry. Now, now Buck is really. Get off my lawn. I got blepharitis in my other stuff that I have to do to deal with my. Making sure that my eyes don't get basically like clogged and infected. It's a constant pain. And so, you know, I gotta deal with. It's just genetic, by the way. It is. It's much more common for people who have blue eyes, believe it or not. And they don't know why, but it's. I got all these annoying things I gotta deal with sometimes I gotta have like the prescription drop sometimes all this stuff. And every time I go into the pharmacy, it's like going into the D. It's like, oh, it does. This isn't covered anymore. This is backordered. We don't have that. How hard is this, guys? How hard is this? You know, I'm not asking for open heart surgery on the floor of Rite Aid. Like, can we get this done? I think Trump, I think Makarya, I think they're working on it and making things a lot better. Speaking to you about health, longevity, wellness, guys, having the right balance, having the right chemistry for your body is critical. And this is why I got chalk. Chalk is part of my daily regimen. I call it the regimen and chalk is incredible. The Male Vitality Stack. That can they all hear this rejoin music? Because this is taking me back. That's a great 90s, great 90s dance tune. Who does this one? I really like this one. Ow. You.
iHeartRadio Announcer
What's it called?
Buck Sexton
Just new. Oh, new tunes. Okay. All right, everybody. Everybody is a great. I'm grooving over here. You guys should see. I want to do that. I want to do the Trump dance right now. Get into it. Fantastic. Fantastic. It's a great tune for a Friday, everybody. It's a beautiful time to be alive, a beautiful time to be in America. And we have so much to discuss here. Zoran Mamdani, the Commie, third hour. What does he want for New York City? What is he doing? We want. We were west coast a little bit. This hour going to take our focus to the east coast, to our biggest city, New York. Talk about what's going on there with Commie mom, Donnie. We're also going to take a bunch of your calls and other great stuff. Let's get to this. We have VIP email from Pam. 13 hours is an excellent movie. Hillary should have been disqualified from public service after screeching. What difference does it make? Just like Ilhan OMAR annoyed about 9, 11 and grumbling. Some people did some stuff abhorrent and disgusting. Pam, of course, agree. Excellent email and yeah, 13 hours. I think the best movies that have ever dealt with CIA and CIA paramilitary operations, without question are 13 hours and zero Dark Thirty. So from the perspective of somebody that actually saw some of this stuff, those are the best movies. So anyone ever asked me by far most accurate. I really love Spy Game. It's with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. But that's completely unrealistic and kind of, it's kind of especially the ending is very silly. But I really like it and it's a movie and I understand it's not a documentary. I get that. But yeah, 13 hours and it holds up really, really well too. And Chris, I got, I got to meet Chris Paronto once at an event years and years ago. That guy's awesome. He's a great dude. If you watch the movie, you're like, is he like this? Is he like the guy who plays him in real life? Yep, that's him. Just an American badass and a patriot. A great guy. So anyway, we'll get into more here with Zoron Momdani and We're gonna dive into all that coming up shortly. Take your calls. The third hour, and it's basically just gonna be an amazing hour of radio. So get yourself some Crockett coffee in the meantime. We'll be right back.

This hour of The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show focuses on California's political landscape, recent state controversies, the possibility of Republicans making significant gains in traditionally blue California, and broader cultural discussions. Buck Sexton is joined by "California Consigliere" and legal expert Katie Zachariah to dissect the state’s upcoming gubernatorial race, alleged mismanagement by Democrat leaders, cultural hypocrisy in Hollywood, the "woke mind virus," and new efforts to combat fraud in the state. The latter half includes listener feedback and lighter banter on health, fitness, and policy.
Unexpected GOP Strength:
Katie highlights recent polling that places Republicans Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco at the top, even in traditionally left-leaning polls (02:48).
“We have Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco really at the top of almost every poll, even in Public Policy Institute of California, which is essentially a deep blue poll company.” – Katie Zachariah [02:48]
Open Primary System:
California’s top-two open primary could pit two Republicans against each other in the general election, if the polling holds.
Democratic Field in Disarray:
Katie Porter is faltering after negative press, and Eric Swalwell may be deemed ineligible due to residency issues.
"Swalwell ... has investigated, is not a resident of California, and so he's not going to be able to run at least right now as a governor." – Katie Zachariah [04:01]
Voter ID as a Turning Point:
Republican hopes hinge on a ballot measure for voter ID, gaining traction with support from high-profile advocates like Elon Musk.
“If we had voter ID Buck, I could say we'd likely get a Republican in, in 26. I have my doubts without any kind of regulation on who's going to those polls.” – Katie Zachariah [02:48]
GOP Unity Needed:
Katie argues a unified GOP ticket—with runner-up becoming lieutenant governor—would be the party’s best shot.
Palisades Fire Aftermath:
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faces accusations of "criminal negligence" and covering up the city's handling of the devastating Palisades fire.
"The mayor is criminally negligent and liable for the Palisades fire and then a massive cover up... she actually maliciously covered up a report that was supposed to be a transparent report on how the fire was handled." – Katie Zachariah [08:05]
Media Double Standards:
Katie claims that if a Republican had been responsible, coverage would be more severe.
"You want to get up and say it, you gotta, you know, put your money where your mouth is." – Katie Zachariah [11:02]
CorePower Yoga Protest:
Discussion of a viral video showing activists at a Minneapolis yoga studio harassing staff over ICE signage; Katie says this kind of hyper-aggressive activism has eclipsed core values.
“To use the word 'woke mind virus' actually doesn’t encapsulate the entirety of what’s happening with an entire population of people that have turned against even their core values.” – Katie Zachariah [12:18]
Broader Cultural Critique:
Buck and Katie lament the loss of societal norms like respect, forgiveness, and helping one’s community.
J.D. Vance Leading Probe:
Ohio Senator J.D. Vance to chair a new task force targeting fraud in California, estimated by Katie to be “probably around $250 billion or more.”
“It's perfect that it's going to be JD Vance because if Gavin Newsom does get the endorsement... for the presidential run and he goes against JD Vance, he's going to have to answer directly for the fraud that JD Vance is looking at in California.” – Katie Zachariah [13:42]
National Lens:
Katie suggests California’s handling of fraud may shape national political narratives, especially ahead of major international events like the Olympics and FIFA tournaments.
On Democratic Polling:
“I think if we just... reran those episodes of her screaming at her staff and yelling at reporters, we might see that [poll] go down. I think it's a fake poll... much to the same as we've seen nationwide with fake polling.”
– Katie Zachariah [04:01]
On Mayoral Accountability:
“Mayor Bass... should be resigning in shame. Not just for that report, but for how she's handled this the entire time. But somehow they just keep getting away with it...”
– Katie Zachariah [08:05]
On Activist Culture:
“If you want to save the world, start at home... It’s really easy to march ‘I want to save everybody from ICE.’ You’re not saving anybody, you’re just yelling at people on the street and being annoying.”
– Buck Sexton [20:58]
Prescription Drug Pricing:
Cultural Segment: Health & Fitness:
Listener Feedback:
The episode maintains the show’s signature blend of irreverence, conservative critique, and cultural satire. Katie Zachariah provides punchy, lawyerly commentary, while Buck keeps the energy high with lively banter, humor, and timely listener engagement.
“It's a beautiful time to be alive, a beautiful time to be in America. And we have so much to discuss here.” – Buck Sexton [38:46]
This hour delivers an informed, entertaining deep-dive into California’s unique political battleground, revealing cracks in Democratic dominance and exploring the circumstances under which Republicans might finally break through. The show skewers perceived hypocrisy in Hollywood activism, exposes alleged political cover-ups, and discusses new initiatives to reform drug pricing and tackle fraud. The discussions are balanced with lighter moments about fitness trends and personal health. Even if you’re not closely following California politics, the hour offers a window into the culture wars, campaign maneuvering, and broader social critiques at play in today’s America.
