Welcome in our number two Clay Travis Buck Sexton Show. Appreciate all of you hanging out with us. Summer of Trump underway and it is a doozy for people who hate Trump as Trump is stacking wins one after the the other. Let's start here. I hope you listened to us and did not panic in April when everyone was screaming for you to sell your stocks, that the tariffs were going to destroy the world. The S&P 500 as I speak to you right now, is at an all time high. If you simply did not look at the prices of your stocks this year, congratulations. You are doing quite well. You have more money in your 401k, more money in your retirement accounts, more money in your college tuition accounts that you're trying to save up for your kids, or just more money in your savings in general if you are invested in the stock market, as most of you are, from a variety of different perspectives. So that is huge. Supreme Court delivering a series of monumental wins for President Trump. Iran on its knees begging for help. Expectations that the Abraham Accords are going to be expanded. All of this coming together in the last few weeks. The big beautiful bill getting close to being complete, which will lock in tax savings for the next decade. Plus all of that moving in a direction that is all very, very positive. And it is today, Buck, the one year anniversary of Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance that unfortunately began the rapid descent of Buck island, much like Atlantis, into the land beneath the sea.
Buck Sexton
We were very close though. Everyone, we were very close. Biden held out for weeks and weeks and as we know, he almost, he almost pulled it off. But there was that dastardly Pelosi and Obama and others who shoved him off the island at the last minute.
Clay Travis
Also Pew Research data that I think should be getting more attention than it is. Trump won a majority of Hispanic men. He nearly flipped Hispanic voters nationwide, losing to Kamala Harris just 51 to 48. Putting that in context, 2016, Trump lost Hispanic voters by 36 points. 2024, Trump lost Hispanic voters by just 3. He nearly flipped Hispanic women nationwide. I know that a lot of you are from South Florida. The Hispanic vote is very different in South Florida as opposed to, say, California. But it is super interesting that the movement occurred. To go from Democrat plus 36 under Hillary Clinton to Democrat plus 3 is one of the most transformative moves that we have seen in a short period of time ever. Also, black men, 21% of them voted for Donald Trump. The largest percentage of black men, I think, ever to vote for a Republican candidate in a post civil rights era.
Buck Sexton
Yeah, I was gonna say since probably Eisenhower. Clay, sort of like Buck island in the close but no CIGAR category. On April 12th of this year or of 2024, you said that 25% of Black men would vote for Trump. A little ahead of your skis, buddy. It was nice. It was a nice call. You were directionally correct. But if there was a stake on that one, that state goes to me. Because technically, 21 is not 25. You were close, though. I appreciate.
Clay Travis
That was a super bold prediction by me. 25. We almost got there. 75, 21. I mean, we're basically to the point now, think about this, where if there are four black guys who voted in an election, one of them voted Trump. And you might say, well, that's still 75% voted against him. Yes, I get it. But identity politics, the coalition that Democrats built, it doesn't work. The math doesn't add up for them to win if 20% of black voters are voting Republican. And we're getting very close to there in general. So the Hispanic vote, Asian vote skyrocketed for Donald Trump as well. This was a profound, transformational win. And the other thing they found in the Pew Research poll was if more voters had come out, Trump's margin of victory would have increased even more. In other words, usually Democrats say, well, we just didn't get our voters out. Actually, if the. If the audience had grown, Trump's margin was going to grow based on who the voters who did not show up were.
Buck Sexton
You want more? Do you want more Clay predictions? Because I was hearing so many that I actually kept track of them. Do you want more or have you had enough for today?
Clay Travis
No, that was close. I mean, yeah, no, that was.
Buck Sexton
I said that was a close, but no cigar. I'm just. I just.
Clay Travis
You what?
Buck Sexton
Do you want to save these? You want to hold them?
Clay Travis
No, no. What else you got?
Buck Sexton
April 16, Clay said that Georgia. Trump would win Georgia by eight points. I said, clay, you're insane. Trump won Georgia by two points.
Clay Travis
So I will say, I will say Georgia has me nervous. Georgia was the one state where Kamala actually did, I think better than Biden's numbers, I believe, of the, of the 2024 toss up states team. Look this up. This is a major research project. I think Georgia is the only state where Kamala outperformed Biden in the swing state universe. In other words, like Arizona didn't happen. Nevada didn't happen. I believe she got more votes. Georgia 2024, Kamala did. Than Biden did in 2020. And that means Georgia is really going to be a battleground. I thought that Trump would win Georgia by a margin similar to what Brian Kemp and the other top of the ticket Democrats did in 2022. And that ended up a lot closer than I thought it was going to be. But that is, that is something a little bit alarming. If you want to look forward to 2028. Georgia is going to be a tough place for Georgia.
Buck Sexton
Still a true, a true battleground state. True battleground state. Two percentage points for Trump, give or take. And that was a, that was a tough one. So. Yep. Oh, can I just say one thing about what's happy, why I'm in such a good mood today, other than the S and P being so high, all time high. What the Supreme Court did today, and I know you want to dive into this a little bit more and Trump spoke about this, what the Supreme Court did today is no less than affirming that Donald Trump is actually the president. Yes, he is the president. He has the powers of the presidency, that the Constitution applies to him as the commander in chief and that random lower court judges don't get to take the presidency away from him, which is what they've been trying to do.
Clay Travis
Correct. And it's also important to note, put a pin in this. At some point in time, there is going to be a Democrat president and there is going to be a Republican appointed judge who rules against that Democrat president. This precedent will apply there too. So you can be happy right now. But the thing about Supreme Court judgments is they apply for everybody. So the powers of the presidency will someday be held by a Democrat. Just remember that in the back of your mind, when there is a judge in Texas or there is a judge in Alabama that does a ruling you like, tries to apply it nationwide and it's struck down under this precedent, it's going to apply to everybody. Here's Trump, by the way, listening. The policies that were blocked on nationwide injunctions but can now proceed thanks to this 6, 3 Supreme Court decision cut 28.
Georgia Hardstark
Some of the cases we're talking about would be ending birthright citizenship, which now comes to the fore. That was meant for the babies of slaves. It wasn't meant for people trying to scam the system and come into the country on a vacation. This was, in fact, it was the same date, the exact same date, the end of the Civil War. It was meant for the babies of slaves. And it's so clean and so obvious, but this lets us go there and finally win that case, because hundreds of thousands of people are pouring into our country under birthright citizenship. And it wasn't meant for that reason. It was meant for the babies of slaves. So thanks to this decision, we can now promptly file to proceed with these numerous policies and those that have been wrongly enjoined on a nationwide basis, including birthright citizenship and ending sanctuary city funding, suspending refugee resettlement, freezing unnecessary funding, stopping federal taxpayers from paying for transgender surgeries, and numerous other priorities of the American people.
Clay Travis
So all of these things, again, struck down. The Supreme Court does not have. The Supreme Court is saying that individual judges do not have the power to shut down many of the other aspects of the presidential power. Uh, let me play a couple of this. This is actually somewhat funny. A couple of bites that I think you guys will enjoy. Trump just had a big, long press conference that ran a little bit over an hour. Uh, a random cameraman's gonna get fired for this buck. But it's very funny. He yells out, Trump, 2028. Maybe he was a replacement. Maybe he was a replacement. Uh, listen to cut 30. I think you'll be able to hear it. This is a camera guy who is excited to be in the event and maybe got carried away a bit. Cut 30, Trump.
Mae Melman
Uh, eagle crossings in the are zero now zero.
Georgia Hardstark
Does everyone hear that from 2028?
Buck Sexton
Do you intend President Trump?
Georgia Hardstark
I like him. He's working the cameras.
Clay Travis
That is amazing. That guy's probably going to get fired. Sounds like he's maybe Indian, if I'm judging accents. Maybe yelling out, Trump 20, 28, maybe. He's usually not a political guy. Didn't understand the camera guys. Not supposed to be a herd, but that was pretty funny. And here is Trump asking, hey, should we keep the press conference going? Listen to the media. They claim to hate him, but boy, oh, boy, do they love him. This is cut 32 should, by the.
Georgia Hardstark
Way, so many questions. Should we keep this going? Pam, this is the opposite of Biden. Biden would take a half a question and he'd leave without answering. It you tell me when it gets boring.
Clay Travis
That's like, do you remember in elementary school, every now and then, if you were good class teacher would be like, hey, should we go outside? Should I let you play kickball? And everybody in the whole class would just scream, yes. How about no homework? How about we have ice cream?
Mae Melman
Yes.
Clay Travis
And here's one more reporter shocked that Trump is willing to answer questions. This is cut 33. All this just happening.
Mae Melman
Thank you, Mr. President.
Clay Travis
Iris Howe with NTD, resistor media with the APOC times.
Buck Sexton
Thank you so much for doing this.
Mae Melman
It's very refreshing for all of us.
Georgia Hardstark
Here in this room. So refreshing.
Mae Melman
Very refreshing.
Buck Sexton
Yes.
Georgia Hardstark
We probably understand what you mean.
Buck Sexton
Thank you so much for coming out here.
Georgia Hardstark
Other than Caroline's done a great job. You're referring to the past administration, not to Caroline, right?
Clay Travis
He's having such a good time. I mean, that is, I think Trump 2.0, when he said, I used to be the hunted, now I'm the hunter. He has the initiative. I think he feels good about the choices that are being made, the team that he has around him, the confidence and just sheer fun that he is having that you could see in that press conference. Buck, the summer of Trump is real. I think they all feel the momentum, and it is all moving in a very positive direction. Big, beautiful bill is going to get signed, and then the Trump plans will be in place. And I think we're all going to benefit.
Buck Sexton
Look at Clay, all happy. You know, I'm salty Clay today. He's got Independence Day holiday coming up here. Markets are crushing it. You know, there's all kinds of good stuff going on.
Clay Travis
So Supreme Court's doing things that I agree with. Amy Coney Barrett slapping down Katanji Brown Jackson like crazy. I still, I'm reading this, just laughing about it.
Buck Sexton
I mean, Amy Coney Barrett ready to send Katanji Brown Jackson back to law school. I mean, really not. Not impressed with her reasoning or analysis in her dissents. So, yeah, honestly, guys, it's just. Today's just a great day. Just actually take it in, enjoy it. A lot of good things happening today, countries in a good place. The World War three stuff didn't happen. All right? The economy's booming. The prices aren't flying through the roof. Prices have actually gone down on things like eggs. Tariffs are bringing in money. They haven't destroyed the global economy. Trump is enforcing a secure border. There's a lot of good stuff. Yeah, there's a crazy socialist in New York, but we'll handle that. There's a lot of good stuff going on right now and he doesn't even get be mayor for a long time anyway, so enjoy it. We're going to be going into this Independence Day weekend, I think with a with a full head of steam for America, which is exciting. Now we got to talk. Excuse me, my voice is still getting back to 100%. Now we got to talk about the value of having a will. Do you know that only a third of Americans have a will? That number is just frankly not high enough. Because when that moment comes that you're no longer with us and we know that's coming for all of us and your family is wondering how you'd wish your affairs to be handled, a will becomes invaluable. To our friend May Mailman from the White House here in just a few minutes. You know, Trump has been speaking to the press there, replayed some of those clips for you. So you know exactly what's going on. As we know here, as we are live and taking in all the information as it comes. But one thing to keep in mind before we speak to a rep from the White House, the Big Beautiful Bill. Clay and I asked Trump in the Oval a couple of weeks ago. We said, Mr. President, is it really going to be called the Big Beautiful Bill? Is that. And you know what? He goes, yes, they're going to call it the Big Beautiful Bill. That is the actual name. That's what he told us, at least that he's the president. So I think we got to take him at his word. And here he is telling everybody that this is so important for the Trump agenda. Play 21.
Georgia Hardstark
We're here this afternoon to share the stories of an incredible group of patriots from across the nation whose future we are defending with the One Big Beautiful Bill. This is the ultimate codification of our agenda to very simply a phrase that's been used pretty well by me over the last 10 years. But maybe even before that, Make America great again. Very simple. Make America great again. When Joe Biden used to get up and say, we will stop this horrible maga. We're going to stop maga. We're going to fight it. We're going to. I said, joe, loosen up. It's called Make America great Again. It's okay. Remember that? He got up so angry. He was so angry. He said, make America great again.
Clay Travis
And I think, you know, really, this, that, that kind of characterizes if go back and watch. I encourage people instead of watching the way media, and that included buck the buck and me, you may not agree with, with everything we say. When you get an opportunity to watch a press conference yourself, go watch it, you know, this weekend, at some point, pop it up on YouTube. Pop it up and, and just watch it yourself. I think the overwhelming thing that you will take away is how relaxed, comfortable and confident Trump looks in Trump 2.0. That, that's really what just characterizes all of this. If you had to sum it up, this is a guy who knows how to do the job and feels confident in his ability to do the job.
Buck Sexton
And he's getting great results so far already, which is fantastic to see. And I think as we were talking in the last hour to a couple of our friends in the business world, Don Jr. And Omid Malik, and sure enough, the big beautiful bill, I think it's going to add a bit of rocket fuel on top of an already really excellent economy. I think it's going to help give quite a boost. And then when rates start to come down, which might have to wait until Powell is replaced in January, but when rates start to come down on top of that, things can really get moving in a big way. So I think there's a lot of reason for optimism on that. And we'll talk to the White House here shortly about what's in the bill. Also, the Supreme Court rulings today, which were big wins for Trump and for the rule of law, there's something under American soil valued in the trillions, 160 trillion, to be precise. It's been there forever. This endowment, so to speak, is so large it could pay off our national debt four times over now, thanks to a Supreme Court decision, the Trump administration could soon release that endowment to the public. Jim Rickards, former adviser to the White House and the Federal Reserve, says if you're over 50, this could be your best chance to build lasting wealth from a once in a Century event. The big statement. Hear more of what Jim has to say. Go online to birthright2025.com if he's right, it could make President Trump the most popular president in history and help millions of investors retire wealthy. There are some big ideas here. And Jim Rickards, like I said, former advisor of the White House and the Fed, wants to tell you about it himself for free. Go to birthright2025.com to get the details.

We are joined now by Mae Melman, deputy assistant to the president, senior policy strategist. That's a heck of a title. But what we want to have you on is to talk about the evisceration of left wing arguments that came out from the Supreme Court today. And I want to start with this. I kind of broke down the legal background here of why these cases were important. But a lot of people out there are going to focus sometimes on the interrelationships between the justices. Amy Coney Barrett, you've read a lot of Supreme Court opinions in law school. I did, too. Amy Coney Barrett, absolutely. Destroying Katanji Brown Jackson's dissent in the district court judge ruling case really kind of made me go, wow, you don't see this go this hard a lot. Did it stand out to you too, as this looked like Amy Coney Barrett's just kind of fed up with Katan G. Brown Jackson as a judge, more so than in even in just this case.
Mae Melman
Yes, this was incredible. I think the legal term is a bench slap, but that is exactly what happened. So, you know, the three liberal justices did dissent and said that they think that universal nationwide injunctions are perfectly legal. But two of the justices, so Sotomayor and Kagan basically gave legal reasons, saying here is why I think judges have this legal authority. And then Justice Jackson wrote a dissent that was completely unhinged from any law and just said that she thinks that it's a good thing that judges basically follow Trump around and tell him what he's doing is wrong, that that's like a net good for society. And Amy Coney Barrett, who is, as you know, like, if the conservatives in the world have a complaint with her, it's that she's not bold, she's not brave. She kind of goes with the flow a little bit too much. That was not the case today. She wrecked Justice Jackson and said basically, you are acting unconstitutionally. What you want has no basis in the Constitution. You want a roving like King Judge to decide whatever you think is the law. And that's crazy. And so it was beautiful to see.
Buck Sexton
Now also. Go ahead, Clay. Oh, I thought Clay was dropping it May. There are some other decisions that have that that came down as well. What are your take from the White House perspective on, for example, parents being allowed to opt out for religious objection reasons from reading material that has a LGBTQIA agenda?
Mae Melman
Yeah. So this was a huge one. Also, it's not enough. I will say schools should not have this crap in them to begin with. The fact that it exists means we have a lot of work to do. But at the bare minimum, if a parent says that they have a religious objection to schools indoctrinating their kids, then schools have to accept that. And the fact that this Maryland school didn't, I'm frankly shocked it wasn't 90 because it is that egregious of a violation of religious liberty. And Justice Alito, you know, he's a funny guy. I guess he put, he copied and pasted some of the pages from this book. And this is not about celebrating that different people have different viewpoints. This was indoctrinating kids to say that trans identification is wonderful and beautiful and that entire nations, they phrase this as princes and princesses. Entire nations should celebrate gay marriage. That obviously flies in the direct face of all major religions.
Clay Travis
This is an incredible series of wins. President Trump has been stacking a lot of series of wins. Are you impressed that the court has been willing to apply the law as consistently as they have and actually give him all these wins and not get involved? Because what's so important about this, and I said it off the top one day, the precedent of presidential power is going to apply to a Democrat president in a significant way. The same thing is going to apply here when it comes to nationwide injunctions. There will be a Democrat president who also benefits from this precedent. These are the right decisions. But I guess maybe I've just gotten so used to the court playing politics and trying to be cutesy that I didn't think they were actually going to be as willing to uphold the law and issue these clear precedents as they have been. Does it surprise you, or are you also skeptical in some way?
Mae Melman
I am surprised. Nationwide injunctions is something that the justices have all hinted at that they need to address for such a long time. It's obviously such a big problem. If you ask district court judges, circuit court judges. There's been books written on it, law review articles. It's been such a big problem, and yet there's never been this, they haven't stepped up and stopped it. There are a lot of illegal things happen all the time that the Supreme Court has just kind of said, whatever, we're not going to deal with it. And I think conservatives, maybe it was during Obamacare, you know, maybe thereafter, where just if the decision was hard, if it was going to be hard, then you kind of figured they weren't going to do it. But I think actually Justice Roberts, even though that's what he cares about the most, is like preserving the court's legacy, preserving his legacy and not, not clowning the court. And I think he's concerned that too many conservative rulings would be clown it. I think there is, you know, when, when a good ruling comes out, my hope would be that all those times we've been disappointed, all those times we hoped that they'd do something that they wouldn't, that it would lend credibility here. And I think that's what Justice, Chief Justice Roberts would hope too. And of course, that's not the case. Justice Roberts might as well go for it every single freaking time because the left is not going to be more appreciative now than otherwise. But you know, in his mind, I think that's what he hopes is like that people are going to respect this because of all the times that they've held back in those.
Buck Sexton
Speaking of Mae Melman from the White House and tell us about where the big beautiful bill stands right now. I'm hearing some complaints from a number of different quarters about the Senate parliamentarian getting to weigh in here. And this is something to do with tradition, not actually something that is a has the force of law or the Constitution and things are being stripped out by the Senate parliamentarian. What the heck is going on with that? Specifically some NFA National Firearms act provisions that would allow people to buy suppressors like myself who like to go shooting and not blow out their eardrums. What's going on here?
Mae Melman
May yeah, this is the swampiest of the swamp thing to understand and it's very frustrating, but it's going to come down to a pretty big political question. So reconciliation is a process that deals with mandatory spending. So it doesn't create, hey, here's $50 billion for this, here's $50 billion for that, but rather various programs. What are different levers that you can change? We're not messing with this, but something like it would be the retirement age. If you change that, you're not actually creating a new program. You're basically amending an existing program. For budgetary reasons. So you can only do those sorts of things. And yet that's a pretty big leash because basically there's a lot of levers that you can touch for budgetary reasons. But we had a few things that we really cared about. That if you're going to spend Medicaid money, that you're not going to spend it on transgender surgeries for minors, that if you're that there's a fund for companies to help make energy more litigation proof, basically a lot of different fixes. And the Senate parliamentarian basically said all of those things are too much in policy and not much in affecting the levers of funding. And now the Senate parliamentarian, who elected this person, who is this person? Who cares about this person? Nobody. This is not a real, this is, this is purely, as you said, tradition to take that person's ruling and treat it as the word of God. And yet Senate Republicans love doing that. Oh, man, they love tradition so much. So I think the real question is, do they uphold tradition? Do they say the Senate parliamentarians ruling, saying these things are too policy wise, like you said on everything from the Second Amendment to transgender surgeries all the way down to energy policies all the way down, or do you say, you know what? No, I know how to read. I know what is budgetary versus policy. And we, the Senate, we're going to make our own independent decision. So that that's why all at the end of the day does boil down to a policy choice.
Clay Travis
May Melman, Deputy Assistant to the President Senior Policy Strategist okay, big decision as it came to federal district court judges and whether they can enjoin the president from being able to act. That's a huge win. It also implicates in some way the decision about birthright citizenship, which at some point will likely reach the Supreme Court. Now, I know I'm asking you to read tea leaves here because it is not directly addressable, but I said on the show a little bit earlier that it made me think the Supreme Court may be more open to the president's interpretation of the birthright citizenship amendment analysis than I thought. Is that a crazy take or would you sign on potentially with that take with the understanding that we're trying to predict something that hasn't yet happened?
Mae Melman
So I don't think it's a crazy take. I think on one hand, we knew that the Supreme Court was going to be skittish to address this issue because it is such a big issue. And so that made it a really good vehicle to focus on nationwide Injunctions. Right. This is something that the Supreme Court is going to move heaven and earth to just focus on that procedural vehicle and not just say, oh, you know what, let's just dive into the substance instead and forget about the process. So this is something that they would love to avoid thinking about for a little bit now. It's difficult because even though birthright citizenship is terrible policy and the United States is unique in the globe in offering it, other countries don't say, oh, you were here to visit a Disney World equivalent. Like, now your child's a citizen. That's not a thing anywhere else. But at the end of the day, there are some bad court rulings in the past that have interpreted the 14th Amendment to basically give that. Now, past court rulings that are bad are overturned when they need to be. But it's a big decision. It's a weighty decision. So I think you're right, actually. Maybe if they knew for sure they hated this, they would have just said so. But they seem to want to avoid it. And that avoidance, I think, either indicates willingness or it indicates true openness. And they're just trying to bide their time to make such a big ruling.
Clay Travis
May we appreciate it. I got a hot take here. I'm actually pretty pleased with the Supreme Court. I don't know that that ever gets said very often. I bet a lot of people in the Trump team are as well. Have a Good weekend. Good July 4th. We appreciate the time.
Mae Melman
Hey, thanks for having me.

Look, Tunnel the Towers foundation does a tremendous amount of good. So many different people out there. In fact, fact, when I was just up at Traverse City, one of the women working up front in the, in the radio station there said that Tunnel the Towers had helped her family after they had a major issue. She didn't know necessarily that I was going to be there. She just shared that story. And what I've seen, if I go around to so many different events, is there are so many stories like this all over the country. Stories like U.S. air Force Sergeant Jesse Clark. What's up, guys? Chris from San Diego here. I discovered that my wife was actually drinking my crock of coffee, so I just had to re up my subscription. So thank you, wife. But other than that, love the show, guys. Appreciate what you do.

Clay Travis
Uh, not only that, we appreciate you. Crockett coffee. Com. I wanted to play this too, Buck. Um, Trump said in his press conference, in the event that Iran is still trying to enrich uranium, he'll just bomb him again. Uh, and he's also put up a long post directed at the Ayatollah who has tried to claim victory in the war, which he was obliterated. But listen, to cut at 34, Trump says he would bomb Iran again if necessary.
Unknown Host
If the intelligence reports conclude that Iran.
Mae Melman
Can enrich uranium to a level that.
Unknown Host
Concerns you, would you consider bombing the country again?
Georgia Hardstark
Without question. Absolutely.
Unknown Host
Had any.
Georgia Hardstark
Unbelievable. But you know, our incredible fliers and our. I call them the shots. These guys are unbelievable. Thank you. From 52,000ft, they hit the equivalent of a refrigerator door. They actually hit it right in the center. So it's much smaller than that. And just bomb after bomb going deeper, deeper, blowing up. Incredible, incredible thing. I don't know if you heard the general. He was very impressive. Raisin came. You know, he's the one that beat ISIS for me and he did it in a matter of weeks.
Clay Travis
So look, I mean, I do think that the ultimate response to, hey, the strikes weren't as effective as you wanted them to be is ok, we'll strike again. And so Trump just blatantly saying that also is super impactful, I think.
Buck Sexton
Yes. And that also goes into the negotiations that could happen going forward with Iran where now they know that when Trump says, guys, we'll just do this, you can start building it again and we'll just decide we're going to bomb it again. So don't do it it, let's get something else going here. You're not going to be allowed to build nuclear weapons. DD Thomas listening on WOR radio from New York. Play it, play it, Buck. Love you guys.
Georgia Hardstark
Keep doing exactly what you're doing because.
Buck Sexton
You'Re doing the right thing.

Today was a great day. Today was a great day for everybody in America and they don't even know it. They don't even understand it.
Mae Melman
All right.
Georgia Hardstark
And listen, today was also the anniversary.
Buck Sexton
Of the Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
Clay Travis
Debate, which is awesome.
Buck Sexton
What a great day. Bye. You're welcome and thank you. And you're correct, it is a great day for America today. It's just a good day. You know, I'm not saying tomorrow's not going to have its challenges, but a lot of good things happening today. A lot of reason for optimism, a lot of reason to feel good. We'll talk more about it. We'll talk more about the challenges of course, ahead as well. But Clay, I think it's, it's fantastic that we can take a moment here to say Trump is racking up wins and we are not in fact tired of winning. And that year ago debate, you have to say the most successful presidential debate in the history of presidential debates.
Clay Travis
I think it goes both directions. I think Joe Biden ended his career making it the least successful and the most successful. We've never seen a debate that consequential in the history of anybody's life that's listening right now. It ended Joe Biden's political career and I think that in conjunction with the Butler PA assassination attempt and the way he responded put Trump back in the White House. We'll break it down for you next.

Summary of "Hour 2 - The Right Decisions" on The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show
Release Date: June 27, 2025
Introduction
In the "Hour 2 - The Right Decisions" episode of The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton delve into a range of pressing political and economic topics, emphasizing recent Supreme Court decisions, election dynamics, and legislative developments. The discussion is marked by insightful analysis, strategic predictions, and a focus on the administration's accomplishments and future plans.
1. Economic Prosperity Under the Current Administration
Timestamp: 03:10 - 05:08
Clay Travis opens the discussion by highlighting the robust performance of the stock market, noting, “The S&P 500 as I speak to you right now, is at an all-time high” (03:30). He emphasizes the positive impact on personal finances, including retirement accounts and savings, attributing this success to sound economic policies.
Buck Sexton echoes this optimism, stating, “We're building, hiring and winning in America because energy tax credits create jobs and put America first” (04:00). The hosts credit private equity and investments in American industries as key drivers of growth in sectors like manufacturing, technology, and energy.
Key Point:
2. Election Dynamics and Voter Shifts
Timestamp: 05:08 - 08:13
Clay Travis discusses the shifting voter landscape, particularly focusing on Hispanic and Black male voters. He cites Pew Research data, stating, “Trump won a majority of Hispanic men. He nearly flipped Hispanic voters nationwide, losing to Kamala Harris just 51 to 48” (05:25). This marks a dramatic change from 2016, where Trump lost Hispanic voters by 36 points to a near balance in 2024.
Buck Sexton adds, “21% of black men voted for Donald Trump. The largest percentage of black men ever to vote for a Republican candidate in a post-civil rights era” (06:35). This shift indicates a significant realignment in voter behavior, potentially altering future electoral strategies.
Notable Quote:
“Putting that in context, 2016, Trump lost Hispanic voters by 36 points. 2024, Trump lost Hispanic voters by just 3. It is super interesting that the movement occurred.” – Clay Travis (05:25)
Key Point:
3. Supreme Court Decisions and Presidential Powers
Timestamp: 09:44 - 32:07
A substantial portion of the episode is dedicated to discussing recent Supreme Court rulings. Clay Travis articulates the significance of these decisions, asserting, “The Supreme Court doing things that I agree with” and highlighting cases that reinforce presidential authority (15:47). He underscores that the Court’s rulings affirm President Trump’s powers, particularly in areas previously contested by lower courts.
Mae Melman, Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Policy Strategist, provides an in-depth analysis of the Court’s stance on nationwide injunctions. She explains, “They [the justices] wrecked Justice Jackson and said basically, you are acting unconstitutionally” (28:15). Melman praises the Court's decision to limit judicial overreach, emphasizing its importance for maintaining executive authority.
Clay also speculates on future implications, noting, “At some point in time, there is going to be a Democrat president and there is going to be a Republican appointed judge who rules against that Democrat president” (10:26). This sets a precedent that he believes will benefit future administrations regardless of party affiliation.
Notable Quotes:
“The Supreme Court does not have the power to shut down many of the other aspects of the presidential power.” – Clay Travis (11:18)
“If a parent says that they have a religious objection to schools indoctrinating their kids, then schools have to accept that.” – Mae Melman (29:59)
Key Points:
4. Legislative Developments: The Big Beautiful Bill
Timestamp: 32:07 - 36:32
Buck Sexton updates listeners on the status of the “Big Beautiful Bill,” a significant legislative package aimed at codifying the administration’s agenda. He mentions challenges posed by the Senate parliamentarian’s interpretations, particularly concerning National Firearms Act provisions, but remains optimistic about its passage: “We're going to make our own independent decision” (34:28).
Mae Melman elaborates on the legislative hurdles, explaining the limitations of reconciliation processes and the parliamentarian’s role in restricting policy-based amendments. Despite these obstacles, there is confidence that strategic policy choices will overcome traditional constraints.
Key Point:
5. Birthright Citizenship and Future Legal Battles
Timestamp: 36:32 - 38:50
Clay Travis touches on the contentious issue of birthright citizenship, suggesting that the Supreme Court may uphold an administration-favored interpretation. He posits, “the Supreme Court may be more open to the president's interpretation of the birthright citizenship amendment analysis than I thought” (37:24).
Mae Melman concurs, noting that while the issue is complex and unprecedented, the Court’s recent actions indicate a potential openness to reassessing existing interpretations: “They seem to want to avoid it. And that avoidance, I think, either indicates willingness or it indicates true openness” (38:50).
Key Point:
6. Trump’s Political Momentum and Future Prospects
Timestamp: 39:02 - 50:27
The hosts reflect on President Trump’s continued political influence and recent press conferences. Clay Travis remarks on Trump’s confidence and strategic communication: “this is a guy who knows how to do the job and feels confident in his ability to do the job” (24:33). They also discuss the positive reception of Trump’s actions and statements, indicating sustained support among his base.
Buck Sexton highlights Trump's aggressive stance on international issues, particularly regarding Iran, illustrating strong leadership: “Without question. Absolutely” (47:37). This assertiveness is portrayed as a deterrent against adversarial actions, reinforcing national security measures.
