This is an iHeart podcast. All right, welcome back in to Clay and Buck. Second hour kicks off now. And just want you know if you were trying to listen to the interview yesterday with the president, Taiwan, if you happen to miss any of was up at it is up@clay and buck.com or you can listen on the podcast. I think it is well worth going to check it out because things are heating up in that part of the world. China is definitely gearing up for an invasion of Taiwan. It's just a question of when and if they pull the trigger. When they pull the trigger. So very important part of the world and a really interesting series of conversations there, most notably with the president of Taiwan. So you can see that@clayandbuck.com and please go and check that out. Now. President Trump just in the Oval Office a few moments ago. He's down the street. He's not far off from where I'm doing the show. And here he is on the Democrat Party. What he thinks of their leadership.
Donald Trump
34 and I really think that these are people that I think they have nothing to lose. They have a party that's out of control. They have no leader. Nobody knows who the leader is. I look at people with very low IQs, like Crockett, this woman Crockett, I never met her, but she's a low IQ individual. I look at talking about how if they want to negotiate, they can come to my office. She's not in that position to do that. And who the hell is she to say that? And then I watch Nancy Pelosi not knowing what to do. I watch, I watch their leadership. Look, Schumer is petrified of primary because he's not going to win probably against anybody in a primary. You know, Schumer did the right thing, but he handled it badly. Originally, a year ago, he did probably the right thing, but he handled it badly. I think Schumer is incapable of making a deal. They are a mess. They're a party that has no leadership. They have. And they have no policy. You know, we have great, we have great, I think we have great leadership, but we also have great policy. Their leadership. Yes, they're a party that has no leadership. They have and they have no policy. You know, we have great. We have great. I think we have great leadership, but we also have great policy.

I think he's right. But let's unpack this for a second. The claim from the president that the Democrats don't have leadership right now, I think you'd have to agree with that. To the degree that it is possible for me to be objective on this, which I know is. That's a challenge. Right. Because I am a Republican and don't agree with the Democrats. I understand all that. But trying to take a step back and look at this as honestly as possible. If the Democrats had a day fat like to Taiwan. But the brutal experience of reading Kamala's 107 Days, and it felt like it took 107 days to read. So the title is apt. And really, I think she did not endear herself to anyone in the Democrat Party or the reader. I came away from it thinking this is a person who has never really been tested, has been elevated by the system for superficial characteristics all along. And you have somebody who's just not a talented politician, got way beyond her skill set. And so I don't think that she's going anywhere in politics. Meaning I don't think she's going somewhere. It's off the stage. You have Gavin Newsom. Oh, you've got Pritzker. He's really trying to make a go of things these days. He really believes that he's a big deal. And this is what. This is, the kind of leadership this is. Cut 10. This kind of leadership you get from this guy. He's a jerk. Play it. Donald Trump is using our service members as political props and as pawns in his illegal effort to militarize our nation's cities. For weeks now, Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and Gregory Bevino have brought their militarized CBP and ICE agents to the streets of Chicago to cause violence and chaos in this city. They need to stop inciting our city's residents. Since the beginning of this invasion, families have been snatched up off the streets or removed from their homes, zip tied and detained for hours, including especially US Citizens and legal residents of our state inciting the people of Chicago. Think about the framing from the governor here, who certainly thinks of himself as a heavyweight. Think of the way that he discusses this. The problem isn't the riots. The problem isn't the lawlessness and the disrespect shown to federal officers. It's that they're there. And Democrats in Chicago are having some kind of collective nervous breakdown in response to it. And so they can't be held accountable for their actions. The real problem here, the real issue is the deployment in the first place. That's a pretty crazy point of view, isn't it? And yet this is the governor of Illinois who certainly thinks of himself as a contender for the Democrat. The mantle of Democrat leadership. Chuck Schumer, as Trump and others have been discussing, he's just trying to hold on because the Democrat party that he has managed to sit atop in different ways for a long time now. He's been involved in this longer than I. That was funny, actually. Funny yesterday we're talking to speaker of the House. He's like, Buck, He's. He's been doing this for almost as long. I'm like, no, dude. Longer than I've been alive, actually. Chuck Schumer. Chuck Schumer has been in the Senate longer than I have been on this earth. So that tells you something. But this is where we are now. Chuck Schumer running for cover. He knows the radical left fringe of his party is ascendant and they can't stop it. There's no. This is the thing. They can't reason with their left wing base any more than we can because they're lunatics. And so by definition, there's no way. There's no common ground to have with them. The only thing that they can do is try to keep them at bay long enough to fool enough voters to. To keep the Democrat seats in more purplish areas and to try this. This is the game every election cycle. Democrats, to win enough votes, to have power, have to pretend that they're not actually Democrats. It's certainly what's going on with Alison, whatever her name is in Virginia. And by the way, it might as well be whatever her name is, her last name, because her whole game is nobody knows anything about this lady. Really. Like, what does she stand for? Me, I don't know. Democrat lady. That's about all we know. You know, Spanberger. Spanberger. What does span burger stand for? Well, if you really were to dig into it, it would be probably abortion all nine months of a pregnancy and DEI and transgender stuff and all the. But she doesn't talk about that. The whole game is, I'm so boring and lacking in charisma. How dangerous can I be? And that's what a lot of these Democrats do. They, they put forward this, this trojan horse in the purple states of, well, I'm not one of those AOC Mamdani Democrats. I'm something else. And unfortunately, because a lot of people spend time thinking about their lives and not politics. And I can, I can respect that. I don't, I don't really cast stones. I wish everybody was very informed on these things, but you know, you got lives to lead. And so they, they just, whatever's on the tv, they go, okay, this person seems pretty moderate. And what is a moderate Democrat these days? Chuck Schumer is starting to look like a moderate Democrat these days. Just cuz he's not insane. I mean, he's bad news, but he's not as loony as some of these others and he's maybe gonna lose his job because of it. So we go back to the initial question or the initial premise by President Trump, who is the leader of the Democrat Party. This is the first time in a long time there has not been an. Nobody would have asked that question, obviously for the eight years of Obama. And if it wasn't Obama, the answer was Clinton. And somehow, believe it or not, when the answer wasn't Clinton, the answer became Biden. So there has been a leader of the Democrat Party for a long time now. And I would argue that in the Bush years, even the answer was still Clinton for a lot of people. That's why that show the West Wing where that half wit Martin Sheen plays the like brilliant scholar president. It was really just this stealth presidency for libs during the Bush years. And I remember I was in the CIA at the time. And so yeah, I would flip this thing on sometimes. I'm like, oh, this is where the, where the libs get to feel safe and warm. Oh, look at this president. He has a PhD in economics and he likes baseball just like all the Democrats. These, you know, that was, it was their fantasy land, their Aaron Sorkin provided fantasy land presidency. But we've always known who the leader is. We've always known who the, who the top dog is in the Democrat Party until now because there isn't one. And Trump is just pointing that out. He's. Wait, what did I say? Yeah, Abigail Spanberg. I got her name right, didn't I? It took me a minute. Oh, did I? Oh, I said, there you go. That's how memorable she is. Allison Abigail. Potato, potato, whatever. Yeah, Abigail Spanberger. Man, she really stands for a lot, you know. No, no idea. She's just hoping that enough Virginians get their politics from having like the drone of CNN on in the background. And then, you know, when they're watching who Wants to be a Millionaire and there's some political ads running that say oh, she's going to do great things for the schools and she's going to help working families. Just the pablum, the milk toast. Like, the way the Democrats win in purple states is like, it's like they smother you with a boring pillow of. It'll be fine. You know, she's not going to do anything crazy and you just go, oh, okay, how bad can it be? And at some level, by the way, this was the, the Biden play in 2020. Good old Joe. He's so old. He's so old and, and, and kind of feeble. How dangerous can he be? Well, very, as we saw, because he wasn't calling the shots. The left wing activists around him were the ones calling the shots. So in a sense, the answer to the part, the question, who's the leader of the Democrat Party? Is. Well, because they're leftists and increasingly commies, it's really a collective, you could say there is no one leader. There are a bunch of different people who adhere to an ideology of collectivism and they like the committee, if you will. They're like the Committee for the Undermining and Destruction of America. That's what the, that's the leader of the Democrat Party. Other than that, you can put in a bunch of different names. You know, you can look at narcissistic individuals like Newsom and Pritzker. And you know, the thing about someone like Pritzker is I know people say, oh, he's a billionaire. Guys like, has he ever had a. I know he's the governor now, but let's be honest, anybody can do these jobs, right? This is one thing that we've learned in this new era of politics. It's hard to get some of these jobs. You need a lot of money, you need a lot of name recognition. But doing it, I don't know. And look at some of these people who have had these jobs. Has Pritzker ever done a hard day's work? Is really the question. And no, I don't mean like in the gym. I mean in general, has he ever done a hard day's work? I don't think so. Does he have any understanding whatsoever? Oh, people will say, but how dare you. Look at Trump. He grew up also very privileged. Everything else. Yeah, but people who do hard days work like him, and he seems to understand them and have a kinship with them. And you can't fake that because the people who do the hard days work can tell. They know John Kerry tried it. A lot of others have tried it. Oh, I'M just like you. I'm like, hello, fellow working class people. Look at my Carhartt jacket. Like it doesn't work. It doesn't work. Somehow Trump is different and we all know that. Look, I'll take your calls here, 800-282-2882. Do you think who is the leader of the Democrat Party? I put that question out to you. Trump says there isn't one. I tend to agree with him. I think right now, if we were ranking them, I go, wow, this is like, this isn't, this is not a fun list. You know, this is like ranking painful medical procedures or something. I go, gavin Newsom, number one slot. I go, I might put AOC at number two. And I know she's not senior in that, but she's power. She's more powerful than these other Democrats. She just is. Please, you think if Pritzker and AOC go head to head, I mean, she's gonna, she's gonna smoke that guy. So, yeah, we'll see. Let me know what you think. Following the 911 attacks, New York City firefighter Daniel Foley assisted in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. At that time, he couldn't have known that his heroism would later cost him his life. Daniel spent months at Ground Zero searching for victims, including his firefighter brother Thomas Foley, who was killed in the attacks. Daniel's father also took part in the efforts at Ground Zero. Let's get to some calls. Love hearing from all of you across America. Let's see, Joe in Montgomery, Alabama wants to win. What's going on, Joe?
Caller
Hey, man. Great to talk to you guys. I'm. I'm sort of interested. This has never been. This has not been talked about yet. Right.
Clay Travis
But I don't know, you tell me. What are we talking about?
Caller
Yeah, right. Well, I thought your screening would tell you. I'm talking about the tolls, the telephone calls with the senators and things like that. So you know deafbi, they have, they have administrative subpoena powers.
Clay Travis
Yes.
Caller
Get a subpoena for tolls. But you.
Clay Travis
I. I used to do this in the NYPD for counterterrorism investigations. Yeah. It's actually very easy to get toll information.
Caller
It's very easy. But that means the supervisor has signed off on it.
Clay Travis
Oh, yeah, Yeah. I think that the supervisor might have just been fired. If I'm reading between the lines here of what Cash Patel is saying as a director, FBI or some people have been fired already, is my understanding, in the last 24 hours from the FBI.
Caller
And none of that has been brought up. And you know, tolls are the predicate for pin registers. Tolls, which leads to a pin register, which leads to basic surveillance and things of your target. To go up on a what? An intercept?
Clay Travis
Yes.
Caller
Nothing's been talked about that and I'm Just wondering. So you know. Okay, great.
Clay Travis
Is there a question here where we go, where are we going with this? I mean we're talking about it right now. So what do you, what do you think or what do you want to know?
Caller
Well, I'm just thinking is that there hadn't been true. You know, provide the underlying information about why.
Clay Travis
Oh yeah. All right, Joe, thank you for calling in. I mean look, I think that the problem here and Joe is getting at something worthwhile here which is what was the predicate or what was the basis for this? But Director Patel said they're baseless. So this just goes to how corrupt some elements of the FBI were in these, in this investigation that they were willing to sign off on things that never should have been signed off on. Just like the FISA warrants by the way that they used during crossfire hurricane in Arctic whatever it's called Arctic snow fox or something or other. This, this other, this other case. Arctic fire. That wouldn't make sense. Then the same thing has happened where you have people who just hate Trump at all. Well, hate Republicans were saying. Yeah, let's just pull their phone stuff to see if we can get them jammed up. Look, no one likes hearing that a neighbor's home was burglarized immediately gets people worried a little bit on edge when this happens. Go to saberradio.com that's S A B R E radio.com or call 844-824-SAFE 844-824 safe welcome back into Clay and Buck and something as I was talking about Allison Spandexter. Abigail Span. Whatever. Abigail Spanberger. She doesn't want you to know her name. She just wants. She just wants People in Virginia to vote Democrat who don't know what's going on. Really. You know, that's the whole. She's. Who is she? Does it matter? Vote Democrat. What does she believe? Where does she stand to the trans thing. Whoa, whoa, hold on a second. Don't. Don't try to put, you know, don't try to put Allison Poindexter in a corner here. You know what I mean? She's. Whatever she's got to say, she's going to say, and she's going to do things. When it comes to doing things as governor of Virginia, they're gonna get done, and some are not gonna get done. But at least you'll know that while she's doing them, she seeks to do things that will get done. Something like that. I mean that. I think I just wrote her campaign commercial, or rather, I just shared with you the majority of her campaign commercials, as I am here in the D.C. area now, so I'm seeing plenty of this. She is, yeah. The whole point is to put someone forward who is effectively an enigma and entirely unremarkable to win in a purple state. Because a Democrat who's like, hey, I'm a proud Democrat who will defend these issues and who will speak clearly with what I want to do. Not the platitudes. I want to make things more affordable. Are you going to wave your affordability wand? Look how that worked out for Obamacare. Oh, wait, I'm weaving. I know I'm weaving, but this is so important. There was actually a piece in the Washington Post. I pulled this out. This is a quote from the Washington Post yesterday. The real problem. This is talking about the shutdown and the ACA money, Affordable Care act money and all this stuff. This is a quote. The real problem is that the Affordable Care act was never actually affordable. President Barack Obama's signature achievement allowed people to buy insurance on marketplaces with subsidies based on their income. The architects of the program assumed that risk pools would be bigger than they turned out to be. Hmm. As a result, policies cost more than expected. End quote. Yeah, a lot more. You're paying probably double. Triple what you were before Obamacare. For a crappier plan, by the way. Oh, yeah, thanks, Obamacare. But plenty of illegals getting lots of care so that you got that going for you, which is nice. Um, so, yeah, that's. That's where. That's where we are on this one. Uh, so when Antoinette Spanmeister becomes the next governor of Virginia, you will know that the people of Virginia didn't do their Homework. And didn't pay attention to who actually she is or what she stands for. And that was the whole point. Speaking of Virginia, I wanted to get onto this for a second. You have this guy. Here we go. What's his name? This is important. J. Jones. Jay Jones. He is running for Attorney General of Virginia. Jason Mayor is currently Attorney General doing a very nice job. We've had Mr. Attorney General May ours on the show a few times, but AG candidate Jay Jones, it has come out that he has. This is, this has all been published. I think National Review got the scoop on this one. Three people, two bullets. Gilbert hit. I'm quoting here. Gilbert Hitler and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head. Spoiler put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know. And he receives both bullets every time. The text first reported by National Review on Friday were sent around 8am on August 8, 2022 to Republican House delegate Kerry Coinier, who was clearly troubled by the messages. Jay, please stop. He wrote back, it really bothers me when you talk about hurting people. If those guys die before me, Jones said, I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves. Let me see. There's more, there's more. He says something too about. Until they Democrat said, yes, I've told this before. Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy. He says, you weren't trying to understand Coin your Texa Jones, you were talking about hoping Jennifer Gilbert's children would die. And then he said, yeah, only when people feel pol. When people, people feel pain do they move on policy. This guy wants to be the top law enforcement official for the state of Virginia and he writes things like that. Do any, do anyone, does anyone out there want to make the case that he would be fair minded to Republicans in his state? The guy fantasizes about Republicans dying and their children dying and then. And then doubles down on it. And he is supposed to be the top law enforcement official for Virginia. This is honestly, this is pathetic. This is outrageous and it's sad. Someone like this even being in the contest to be any kind of law enforcement. I wouldn't let this guy be chief dog catcher in my town. He's going to be the attorney general. He's going to be possibly. He's running, obviously. I'm hoping it doesn't happen. And now there's all these calls for him to drop out and, and the commentary on this has been pretty straightforward. The assessments from a lot of my Republican right wing. I like right wing, better right wing colleagues in the Media, I think, has been spot on. It is the immediate and obvious reaction to calls to have him drop out. He's not going to drop out. And the reason he's not going to drop out of the Virginia Attorney General race is that Democrats have no problem with what he said or what he texted. That's obvious. Any of you, any of you have a left wing person that you know in your life who does all the Facebook posting and everything else, whether it's a colleague or even a family member, somebody else, and you saw this a lot after the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk. They say insane things and they mean it. This is how they think about the world. This is very common among Democrats and they have no problem with it. They, they don't disagree with the right. They have disdain, they have disgust for the right. And they celebrate when people who they view as important to the right or right wing are harmed or even killed. They celebrate it. They have no problem with this. And we have to just deal with this as, as a country. I wish it weren't so because the implications of it are so depressing and so concerning for America. I really mean that. I know it might sound a little extreme, but it's true. It's really a huge concern for the country that you have so many people that take this point of view. But that's why there's no chance this guy's gonna drop out. No chance he's gonna drop out. And Democrats don't want him to drop out. He's just texting what they text to people. You know, he's writing what they write in their discord chats or on their Facebook pages or what, whatever. And it's so normal to Democrats to be really nasty publicly about their politics. It is a big cultural political difference in this country. You all know about this. You know, you tell a Republican you've experienced this in your own life. If you're a Republican, a right winger, whatever, you have somebody come up to you and they want to engage you on something. As long as they're being normal, you tend to, meaning not super aggressive or cursing you out or something. You'll talk to them about it. And frankly, I don't care. When I have some like leftist friend of a friend, occasionally this will happen. They'll say, you know what? You know, do you really support the following? I usually, I've gotten very good at. And this is what I always advise people in my own life to do. If you have some commie who's trying to bait you into an uncomfortable conversation I'm not talking about at a forum where, you know, you're in the classroom or you're in a moment where you want to debate. I'm saying, you know, you're waiting in line for coffee. Cause this kind of thing happens to me and someone comes up. Do you really agree with. Anytime someone starts with, do you really agree with? I'm like, this is gonna be fun, you know? Cause it's not. They're not even gonna say the thing that's happening. They're not gonna say, do you really agree with deportations, which, by the way, most of the country does solid majority, and deportation of criminals is like 70%. Something like that. They come up. Do you really agree with Trump acting in a fascist manner and expelling all these, all these blah, blah. You know, they get all. I'm telling you, the best thing to do is go, man, the world's a crazy place. Just say something like that. It will drive them nuts. Don't engage, don't, don't give them the, the, the benefit of your wisdom and your time if they're going to come at you like that. If they want to have a conversation. Of course, we on the right believe in that exchange of ideas, right? As exemplified by Charlie Kirk, as exemplified by Rush Limbaugh on this program for so many years. We want to educate people, we want to talk to them, we want to engage in ideas. But if you're going to act like a lunatic, I gotta, I gotta deal with you like a lunatic, right? So find your phrase. This is just a little, a little tip roll. You find your shut it down phrases. Just make it, you can make it so boring. Give them nothing to work with. You know what another really good one is? And this isn't going to work well on radio because you don't want to have dead air. But when someone asks you a really annoying question, why do you support Trump's Nazi policies? You know, something like that. You're, you're an Ethel at Thanksgiving, it's coming up and we always do this, oh, what do you do at Thanksgiving with the annoying relative? When Ann Ethel is like, well, why do you, why do you support the insurrection? And you just go, you just take a long pause and respond to their question with, that's a really interesting question. And then say nothing else and just see if you can wait them out. I'm telling you, they're going to get tired because they'll keep coming at you. They'll keep coming. But if you don't give them anything to work with it becomes exhausting. You know, it's like, it's like a cat with a little ball of yarn. You know, eventually they get tired of it. It's just be the ball of yarn. Don't give them anything fun and, and they'll, they'll tire of it and they'll move on because there's nothing to be gained by trying to, by trying to play the game the way that they want to because it'll inevitably just, it'll ruin your day, it'll ruin your meal and there's no point. I don't want that to happen to you. Now if you listen to this show, you got all the arguments and if you want to get into a real back and forth with somebody who, but it has to be within the grounds of being respectful is the, the point. The second someone's going to name call or going to go full J. Jones and wish you harm, there's no point. You're just allowing them to vent their spleen at you and have their emotional instability bring you into their, their vortex of dissatisfaction with whatever's going on in their day. And I just, I think that it's best, it's best to avoid that. So yeah, Jay Jones is going to stay in. He's not going to drop out in my opinion. In my opinion I could be wrong. Probably not though. And the most important takeaway from this is one. Democrats say this kind of stuff. They wish horrible things for Republicans on. I mean, I can literally tell you this with a hundred percent. I have never wished death on a fellow American because of their politics in my whole life. Like it's never even occurred to me to want that or to think that. And I would be ashamed of myself if I even thought it. Nevermind if I texted it right. Oh, you know, they're really bad on the border. So I wish, you know, they would get hit by a bus and really mean that. This is, this is unfortunately far too common among Democrats and that's why there's no political consequence for it. If anything, this is what's really scary among a lot of Democrats. This is brand enhancing. It's brand enhancing. They read these text messages and they go, yeah, he's a fighter and he hates them and if he's attorney General he'll lock them up. Pay attention, my friends. They are telling you, these Democrats are telling you who they are. And unfortunately it's ugly out there. The preborn network of clinics stands out as a nonprofit that do incredible work saving the lives of unborn children every day. Like we're at a time when lies spread quickly, and the truth can feel costly. But for Linda, the cost of silence could have meant the end of her baby's life. When Linda learned she was pregnant, she knew abortion was wrong. But fear almost consumed her, led her to dark places she didn't know where to turn. Then she found a Preborn Network clinic. She was met with prayer, compassion, and the truth that pierced through her fear. And Linda chose life for her baby. Got a lot of calls. Let's get to some calls. Here we have Mike in Chesapeake, Virginia. Wants to talk. What's going on Mike?
Caller
Hey, but listen to Yama. I was was listening to rush in 88 and I picked up on one of his principles. If you go ahead and tell take your opponent and make everybody laugh about it, then you discredit them And I decided that as much as flexing that's going on in the Democrat Party here in Virginia, we should call them Spandex. The other thing. The other thing is two years ago, I was running for the 92nd House of Delegates district, and I discovered that after engaging with one of my opponents supporters that we actually agreed on abortion. And what I found really remarkable is how long is it going to take them to stop listening to their. Their leadership and listening to the other side and realize that we actually hold the same. Stop looking at us in a hateful passion and listen to our words.
Clay Travis
Did you win that race?
Caller
No.
Clay Travis
Your nicknames didn't pull you through on that one, my friend. Thank you. Thank you very much for calling in. Mike. Call them Spandex. I don't know. I think a spandex is like, people that. That's in good shape. That's the kind of, you know. Right. I mean, I don't know. It's like you don't want to call your opponent, like the six pack guy. Well, it depends. We talking beer, we talking abs. John in Buffalo, New York. What's going on, John?
Caller
Yeah, Clay.
Clay Travis
I'm Buck. It's all right. The other guy's Clay. It's cool. We go back and forth. What's up?
Caller
Yeah, I hadn't seen Governor Pritzker till a few months ago, and it's obvious he's very articulate. He's an articulate man, which suggests he's an intelligent man. How can he be for such stupid. Suggest such stupid things? He can't possibly actually believe. Bringing people in to help solve crime problems in Chicago.
Clay Travis
And it's just, you know, you ask a good question. I think with someone like Pritzker, it's just the raw desire for power. It's whatever he has to say. Just like Gavin Newsom, I might add. If the winds were blowing in the other direction, these guys would shift immediately. They want power. I mean, you're somebody like Pritzker. Thanks for calling in, John. There's somebody like Pritzker who is the scion of a billionaire family. Money has never really had any meaning to him. He's never had the work for anything. That can create a very toxic combination, which you actually see in a lot of politicians, of extreme arrogance and extreme insecurity and this need to fill, as we call it, the hole in the soul, right. With power, with prominence and being a man or a woman who stands in the center of history. So that's what I think you get with somebody like Pritzker. And Gavin news gruesome. And this is why the Democrats are going to continue to have these people fighting for prominence. All right, we've got Carol Markowitz coming up. It's a two year anniversary of the October 7th attack in Israel. Want to talk to her about that and also, well, about everything going on here in D.C. the shutdown and whatever else comes to mind. So we'll have a great chat with Carol coming up. Just a few this is the story of the one as a maintenance supervisor at a manufacturing facility facility he knows keeping the line up and running is a top priority. That's why he chooses Grainger because when a drive belt gets damaged, Grainger makes it easy to find the exact specs for the replacement product he needs. Episode: Hour 2 - Who is Leading the Democrats?
Date: October 7, 2025
Hosts: Clay Travis and Buck Sexton
Podcast by: iHeartPodcasts
In this episode, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton examine the current state of leadership in the Democratic Party, questioning whether the party has any clear direction or figurehead. They discuss recent comments from Donald Trump, evaluate potential Democratic leaders, critique party strategies in purple states, and analyze cultural and political trends within the left. The tone blends sharp political critique with humor, characteristic of the show.
Trump’s Critique: Donald Trump, in a featured soundbite, argues the Democrats lack a true leader and are in disarray, contrasting this with what he claims is strong Republican leadership.
"They have a party that's out of control. They have no leader. Nobody knows who the leader is... They are a mess."
Hosts' Analysis: Clay agrees, noting that for the first time in years there is genuine uncertainty about who leads the party. Previous eras had clear leaders such as Obama, Clinton, and Biden, but now no one stands out.
"We've always known who the leader is... until now because there isn't one. And Trump is just pointing that out."
Vice President Kamala Harris: Clay dismisses her potential, referencing her autobiography as uninspiring and calling her "not a talented politician" who "got way beyond her skill set."
"She did not endear herself to anyone in the Democrat Party or the reader. I came away thinking this is a person who's never really been tested... just not a talented politician, got way beyond her skill set."
Governor Gavin Newsom and Governor J.B. Pritzker: Both hosts agree these politicians are vying for prominence, with Clay particularly mocking Pritzker for being out of touch and suggesting both are driven by ambition rather than principle.
"Has Pritzker ever done a hard day's work? Is really the question. And no, I don't mean like in the gym. I mean in general, has he ever done a hard day's work? I don't think so."
Senator Chuck Schumer: Portrayed as a figure clinging to power but losing ground to the party's left flank, Schumer is described as possibly “the moderate” only because the fringe has moved so far left.
"Chuck Schumer is starting to look like a moderate Democrat these days. Just 'cause he's not insane."
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC): Acknowledged as disproportionately influential despite her lack of seniority.
"I might put AOC at number two. I know she's not senior in that, but she's more powerful than these other Democrats. She just is."
Trojan Horse Candidates: Hosts argue Democrats run low-profile, unremarkable candidates in swing areas who avoid taking strong stances to appear moderate.
"The whole game is, 'I'm so boring and lacking in charisma. How dangerous can I be?'"
The 'Boring Pillow' Analogy:
"The way the Democrats win in purple states is like, it's like they smother you with a boring pillow of 'It'll be fine.'"
Focus on Law Enforcement and Riots:
Obamacare / ACA Criticism:
"The real problem is that the Affordable Care Act was never actually affordable... policies cost more than expected."
Text Scandal Involving Virginia AG Candidate Jay Jones:
"This is unfortunately far too common among Democrats and that's why there's no political consequence for it. If anything... it's brand enhancing."
Advice on Handling Aggressive Political Conversations:
"The best thing to do is go, 'Man, the world's a crazy place.' Just say something like that. It will drive them nuts."

This episode centers on the perceived leadership crisis in the Democratic Party, blending mocking critique of current and potential Democratic leaders with broader commentary on political culture and tactics. The hosts argue that the vacuum at the top is driving Democrats further left, while the party struggles to present compelling leadership or coherent policy positions, especially to moderate and purple-state voters. The hour closes with spirited listener engagement, reinforcing themes of political polarization, cynicism toward Democratic strategies, and concern about the cultural tone of U.S. politics.
