After a very casual and normal break between episodes, Jamie and Eric are back to discuss ISU basketball as only they can.First, a "state of the union" for men's and women's basketball, comparing their mindsets entering Big 12 play to where both sit today and expectations for the season. Then, they dive in on the culture of the programs and why it's so important to have a defined identity at Iowa State. Anecdotes from a lifetime around WBB and Eric's year on the men's side bring some perspective to a conversation that could go on for hours.Plus, why each program is attractive to prospects and able to build year over year. The football season is winding down and all Jamie and Eric feel is deja vu. Meanwhile, men's basketball has shown glimpses of this year's potential identity. Lockdown defense? Still present. Improved offense? Seems likely. New players? Lots of upside, including some unexpected facets that can really boost the Cyclones. One the women's side, the returners show marked improvement, but keying in on the newcomers... Denae Fritz and Stephanie Soares are "un-Iowa State-like" players by Jamie's standards... Well, the sky isn't falling.A few players stepped up, a few need to be more present, and it'd be really great to get one for more than a single play...For conference game 2, Iowa State fans find themselves needing to recalibrate their expectations to account for a Kansas team suddenly showing they know what sport they're playing!Plus, Cyclone Family Podcast alums have a big weekend- Congrats to Alison (Lacey) Otzelberger on her Hall of Fame induction and Bridget Carleton on leading Canada to a 3-0 start at the FIBA World Cub with 19 points against Japan!Don't forget to check out our friends at homefieldapparel.com and use code "CYCLONE12" for 15% off your first order!
