Rich
I'm not saying I love grime and dirt and everything, but you've become a wipe down guy, huh? Who do you think shares that microphone with you, Pigpen? Every day you come down here and you.
Covino
It's all Covid habits, you know, and there's studies that'll show you that radio studios are the most vile and grimy like Rick Grimes workplaces in all the land because there's just germs being spit and spat everywhere.
Rich
You here, I got spot our video guy just grabbed a little of hand sanitizer with. Guys, it's not 2020 anymore. Germs are okay.
Covino
That's not true. Covid's back again. I mean, not in the same way. I think I want to, like, get sick because, I mean, who knows where Rob Parker's at?
Rich
Who knows what that guy's doing? Did I do that?
Covino
He's the poo poo king.
Rich
Poo poo king. What? You just sent an article to us the other day, you or Kavino did, where there was something they deemed dirtier than a toilet seat.
Covino
Oh, it was. Kavino sent that.
Rich
What was it? Something they said is dirtier than a.
Covino
I remember what it is, but I can tell you. Oh, your upper lip, the tip of Rich's nose. You know where this has been? I forget what it was. It was gym equipment. It was dumbbells at the gym.
Rich
Oh, yeah, because you. You accused me of not always wiping down my equipment. I'm like, do you really need to wipe down everything you touch?
Covino
Yes, I, I sort of wanted to implement everything.
Rich
Like, if you touch a weight, you're.
Covino
If you're sweaty on it. Yes. Sweaty head, sweaty back, and you're leaving a sweat mark. You gotta wipe that Down. You know, there's too many times that you don't. It's kind of like, you know how we stopped. Oh, I shouldn't say this. You know how not everybody washes their hands? And then we started because of COVID He started singing Happy Birthday. Not everyone wipes their gym equipment down. And I'm not saying you have to, but if you're all sweaty, you should.
Rich
Oh, agreed, 100%.
Covino
And if not even for the next person, for yourself, because the previous person probably did.
Rich
I agree with that. If you are. If you're sweating where your T shirt is wet and you're leaving an imprint on the leather bench, you wipe it down. But I'm saying, if you just grab a, you know, 20 pound dumbbell and then put it right back down, do you really need to go wipe it down?
Covino
Maybe you wipe it ahead of time. Like, do you ever wipe. Wash your hands before you grab the junk and go to the bathroom? Sometimes you do that, right? Just because maybe you do it before you lift. Because the guy before could have been a dirt merchant.
Rich
I embrace the germs. Then I think about, like, it's like the old meme says. I don't think I could say it here on fsr. Forget it.
Covino
Well, Rich brought this up because I do, Richie. I wiped down the entire console. But it all started from old Covid.
Rich
All I'm saying, Sam, is that people don't want to share a drink with people. And it's like, I know what you've done with, like, randos.
Danny G
So, like, I bring the hand sanitizer to our events because you guys are doing meet and greets. And then Rich picks up fries with his dirty hands. I'm like, no, man, you're gonna get sick.
Rich
You know what? I embrace it. I like, see where else Rich puts his hands. Yeah, come on. I like the Germans. Bring them.
Covino
All right.
Rich
Hey, let's talk Blake Snell. Is this guy ballsy? Is he defiant? Is he a leader? Is he all these things? And if you don't know what we're talking about last night, the Dodgers, who are playoff bound, I think that, yeah, they're not the 100, 110 win people thought they were. But when you got a lineup consisting of guys like Freduardo Freeman and Ohtani and Mookie Betts and T. Oscar.
Danny G
And now Snell is healthy.
Rich
Yeah, and now you got some pitching. Getting healthy again.
Covino
He's healthy, but he still looks like he is lacking sleep. He looks very tired. That guy. I don't know who looks More tired.
Rich
I just.
Covino
Him or Dave Roberts? They both have luggage under their eyes.
Rich
Yeah, they're going to win 90 something games when all said and done.
Danny G
Who was the kicker? Prater. That looked like he hadn't slept in three weeks.
Covino
Yeah, he was.
Rich
He was like. It looked like he didn't stop kicking. Like, you got to sleep, pal.
Covino
I'm tired.
Rich
Blake Snell last night, if you don't know, Dave Roberts, comes out to the mound in the seventh inning and we know Dave Roberts. The guy's won World Series as a manager and as a player. The guy's a winner.
Covino
You mean the guy that turned around the whole series for the Red Sox with that stolen base?
Rich
Yeah. Looks like a different guy, but same guy.
Covino
Same guy.
Rich
And Dodger fans being out here in LA for a decade now, my goodness, he gets criticized, yet he's a winner. So it just proves that no matter who your manager is, the fans locally will be like, oh, this guy stinks. Dave Roberts.
Danny G
It's because he's so conservative, though, Rich. When he has a picture who's about to throw a no hitter, he always yanks them.
Rich
What is it? Three times in the last few weeks he pulled the pitcher throwing a no hitter. And then something went wrong.
Danny G
I liked him in that spot.
Rich
I really did.
Covino
Yeah. It's been three no nos, no no's in the past few weeks.
Danny G
Well, Yamamoto, he gave up the home run, remember? But he still could have easily finished off the game. He was within one out of a complete game. Instead of giving him the chance for a complete game. That's what started all of this, is when Roberts.
Covino
Yeah, they lost that game.
Danny G
Yeah.
Rich
And then Ohtani gets pulled the other day and they end up losing the game to the Phillies. So Dave Roberts makes some questionable choices. Now last night he goes to take Blake Snell out in the seventh inning. And Blake Snell, and if I'm not mistaken, is it Vessia who's coming in from the bullpen?
Danny G
It was Vessia.
Rich
Yeah. Vessia is already jogging to the mound, like doing a light jog. All right, I'm getting out there. Let's go. I'm going to clean up this mess. Blake Snell is pretty much like, yo, Dave Roberts, scram.
Covino
Scramble. I'm a Ding dong.
Rich
I'm finishing this. In fact, take a listen to the recap of last night.
Covino
They're going to have Rortvett go out to talk to him. Otto Kemp is due up. Just his emotions, his passion.
Announcer
You can tell how bad he wants.
Covino
This get through Seven innings. Does not want to come out of this game. Well, you know, he knows what the visit is for. It's to buy a little time for Vessi to get a few more throws in. And usually this is followed by Dave Roberts coming out, making language, the body language. Oh, here he comes. And this is not going to be a popular site for this Dodger Stadium crowd. Blake Snell's telling him, stay back there.
Rich
Yeah, I got it.
Covino
Does this not have all the Tampa Bay.
Rich
Yeah. Flashbacks.
Announcer
The World Series against the Dodgers.
Covino
He did not want to come out.
Rich
How about that?
Covino
Yeah. In this situation, you can. Messi was already headed out there. Get back there, Alex.
Rich
Play left field. He was already past left field.
Covino
Thank everybody. Kind of reading the room right here. Blake Snell knowing that his team needs this. Dave Roberts looking his pitcher in the eye and saying, you got it.
Rich
And you know what? I looked at that as leader. Ballsy, but also defiant. That's Dave Roberts. That's your manager and I. You know.
Covino
But that's heart, and that's what you want from your story.
Rich
I don't want to sound like I'm talking on both sides of my mouth, because I think sometimes ballsy and defiance is not a bad trait.
Covino
I think it's like a fighter who is mad when they stop the fight because he's like, nah, man, I got.
Rich
Larger in the tank. I could have came back. I'm fine.
Covino
I could have came back. You want that fighting attitude, that fighter attitude, that killer instinct that, like, no, even if he's wrong, you still want them to have that belief in themselves that they can get through it.
Rich
I mean, how many times has a fighter who is getting his ass whooped and it was almost getting to a dangerous level afterwards. He's like, yo, I don't think they should have stopped the fight. It's like, no, man, they.
Covino
They did the right thing is going on. Dave Roberts is throwing in the towel. Throw in the towel.
Rich
Throw in the towel.
Covino
But you don't want to throw it, you know, too early or too late either. So it's a. It's a tough situation. He's on a pitch count. He's in the seventh inning. You gotta have this belief in your bullpen. It's also a little like, I want to get through this. I don't necessarily trust the bullpen. I don't know if I trust Dave Roberts. Danny G's opinion, I value because he's a Dodgers fan day in and day out, but his whole. Your whole thought process was since Dave Roberts has Dropped the ball and blew it so many times. That's why Snow is doing it. I looked at it like Snell was just showing heart in that moment.
Danny G
It might be some of that, but to me and the fans, it's more like we've been watching what you've been doing the past couple of weeks. Roberts. Not this time. Invest here. Go back to the pen. Not on my watch. I'm going to finish this damn game. I'm pitching a gym.
Covino
I looked at it like the ultimate belief in myself. Like, I know what I still got left. I want to get through this and finish what I started, at least finish this inning. Was it a matter of him defying Roberts because of his bad choices lately or him just believing in himself? It could be a little bit of everything.
Rich
Like you said, I think it's a good sign of leadership, but it doesn't always work out the nice way. It worked out last night. Like last night, Snell gets out of it. So it's like, yeah. And the end of the seventh as Snell, you know, you know, walks to the dugout in glory. If he gives up a double there or a bomb, then it looks like, yo, dude, manager knew you were done and you were defiant. Now this happened again. Of course I'm going to make a Mets reference, because why would I not towards. You know, it was the World Series. Do you remember Matt Harvey insisted on going out for the ninth inning. Metro winning. Metro winning against the Royals, 20, 15, 10 years ago. And Matt Harvey insisted, I'm going out for the ninth, and guess what? Gave up runs. Mets lost the game.
Covino
And that's the weakest. Yeah. You know why this is a cool story? Because he came through. Rich is right. The fact that he came through like that makes him look like he had.
Danny G
Only given up two hits, though.
Rich
Of course, I know what you're saying.
Danny G
Yeah. So, I mean, I'm riding with a hot hand. I'm not letting another starter sit down too soon.
Covino
And that's the problem with analytics, right? Instead of trusting your gut, but seeing that your guys in the zone, he's owning the batters. He's hot right now, like Hansel. That's where analytics come in and they're like, no, well, you know, we should probably go to the pen in this moment. And that's where things get sticky and don't always work the way you want.
Rich
Interestingly enough, I heard you got to trust your gut.
Covino
In this case, Snell trusted his and it worked out.
Rich
I'm trusting my gut. I'm getting Cheeseburgers tonight. It's National Cheeseburger Day.
Covino
Yeah.
Rich
But when it comes to trusting your gut, I heard a great quote by Gary Cohen on SNY yesterday. We talk a lot about analytics, and in a macro sense, they work. Meaning over 162 games, analytics will probably win out.
Covino
Right.
Rich
But once you get to a playoff run and a three or five or seven game series, analytics goes out the door. Because it's almost like that's the micro. The macro is 162games.
Covino
When you say Microsoft, that's a dirty job. Dirty jobs with my. I beat you to it, or are.
Rich
You talking about micro? Cole. Cole. Good to have you back. Sammy. That was so dumb. I love it. Oh, that was great. Hey, but I will say there. There is a difference.
Danny G
Play the rim shot on yourself.
Rich
So there is a difference between Mike Row.
Covino
Did you lose your train of thought?
Rich
Sorry, no. And. And macro. And I think over 162 games. Of course the analytics will work like swing away. But yesterday, like I saw the Padres when they had beat the Mets last night, Mets won. This morning, the Padres arise, had bunted over a runner, and then Machado hit a home run. It's like, well, bunting. Analytics will tell you bunting is never good.
Covino
And this is why analytics isn't always a good choice. Because you know, Dave Roberts would have took him out in that moment. Who knows what could have happened? We know what happened in this situation. Blake Snell was right. Trusted his gut, trusted his heart, knew what he had left, was confident. Yep. Sometimes you can be overcome. Like you mentioned Matt Harvey. But it worked out.
Danny G
Now you brought your setup guys, and two closers have all been falling on their faces.
Covino
You brought it up that you have to tie your Mets into this conversation. Well, then I got to tie my Yankees into this conversation because these are memorable moments. These are lasting moments. I think these are ballsy moments that we need to embrace and look, look for. As every game continues to matter. I think back to. I'm sure there's plenty of other moments, but recent history. 2021. Garrett Cole made his first appearance against his former team, the Astros. And Aaron Boone. Boonie comes out to take him out in the ninth inning. And he was very vocal to Aaron Boone about, you leave me in the game.
Rich
This is a John Boy doing a lip reading. And it's actually pretty funny. Cause he's. He's right.
Covino
Boone comes out and Garrett Cole starts screaming and yelling. And he turns to him and he.
Rich
Says, I'm finishing this game right now.
Covino
Let's go. Boonie says, okay, we just get this one batter, then. This is the most pitches a starting pitcher has thrown or a pitcher, any pitcher has thrown all season. Dude, he gives him back the ball, stays in the game. He throws three straight heaters to close out the ninth. And Garrett Cole was right. And it was an awesome moment because it shows the heart, the confidence, the determination that you have. And that's what you want in an ace especially, especially heading into the playoffs.
Rich
But you do need to, it makes.
Covino
Snell look like a top tier confident pitcher.
Rich
You do need to use your head though, because again, I don't want to make it sound like I'm on both sides of this because I do love the ballsiness and the leadership of a guy that says no. I know myself and I could get this guy. But much like a great fighter, no great pitcher with heart is ever going to want to come out of the game. So you have to be honest with yourself in those moments. And if you're a manager or pitching coach, I'd imagine a major league baseball, you know, when your guy is being, is being real with himself, right?
Covino
It's like Jason Priestley, remember, Give me the keys. Everyone thinks they could drive but Jason Priestley.
Rich
I think you had enough.
Covino
Yeah, give me the keys.
Rich
Everyone, everyone thinks like, no, I'm good. No, no, give me the keys. Give me your keys.
Covino
So basically what boonies doing what, Robert? They're just saying, give me the keys. You had enough?
Rich
We recently went.
Covino
Blake Snell knew otherwise and that's made all the difference. So again we asked the Fox Sports Radio Nation. We know it's both, but is it more defiant or more I'm the man, I'm in the zone. Let me know.
Rich
I like your analogy. Recently my wife and I went out to one of our friends houses. One of the, one of some of the parents from our kids baseball team. Kids are all playing, adults are having some cocktails. My wife has not had margaritas in quite a while and I saw after.
Covino
A couple give her five margaritas. Crazy.
Rich
Yeah, give her one margarita, she'll move.
Danny G
So tequila makes the clothes come off.
Rich
My wife is more of a popping, edible, chill type of woman. So when you don't drink margaritas on the usual, she was like three margaritas deep. And I gave her the whole like, babe, you might wanna, might wanna slow down. And she's like, I'm fine. And I'm like, no, you're not Garrett Cole. No, you're not Blake Snell. Give me the keys.
Covino
No, babe, you had enough.
Rich
I'm like, I gotta stop going to town. You know when you do the.
Danny G
You pulled your own wife out of the game.
Rich
You know when you whisper to the wife or girlfriend when you're like, yeah, no, you might think you've had one too many Proseccos. That's, you know, like, you gotta know the same way you would gauge your wife or ladies. Your husband, like drinking at a party. That's. You need to know if they're being truthful. And I felt like last night, in that moment, Blake Snell knew. Listen, I'm a Cy Young Award winner. I know that. I got gas in the tank for one more batter. Dave Roberts, respectfully, beat it.
Covino
Yeah. Don't pull the Matt Harvey. Yeah. That's when it works against you. So, that being said, we also want to congratulate a legend. And for your Dodgers, Danny G. Clayton Kershaw, another ace with Huevos and Hart.
Danny G
What a career.
Covino
Who announced his retirement at the end of this season?
Rich
Well, didn't he have. Didn't he have to retire because they made him, like, the commemorative All Star this year? Like, he couldn't come back next year. Right. Didn't make Miggy do that. One year on the Tiger, someone. Someone did like their farewell tour and then sort of, like, had one more year.
Covino
Who was that? That's a good one.
Rich
I feel like someone sort of did that.
Covino
Well, Rivera was supposed to retire and he got hurt.
Rich
And then he came back.
Covino
And then he came back. But, yeah, what you're saying sounds familiar, too.
Rich
Clayton Kershaw, the man. Now, Danny G. How does he play a role? As we are two weeks away from the Major League Baseball postseason, we got nine games left in the regular season. So in a couple of weeks, is Clayshaw bullpen starting?
Covino
Clay Shaw.
Rich
Did I say Clayshaw?
Covino
Yeah, that's his pet name from. That's how you shorten it slightly.
Rich
Clayshaw. Clayshaw.
Covino
Yeah.
Rich
That's my.
Danny G
If Snell is healthy, Rich, then I feel Kershaw is the X factor. In those bullpen games we were talking about on the show yesterday, Is every team.
Rich
I'm trying. I'm not being all over the place, but is every team in the playoffs going to start doing bullpen games? Because the Mets did one the other day and they had Clay Holmes for a couple innings. Mania for a couple innings. And I'm thinking, like, this might be every team's. Other than your ace. Well, you're also trying to see matchups, too, right?
Covino
Yeah. You're trying and trying to see what they Got and work out their problematic areas and works. Work through some, you know, tough spots. You're just trying to see what they got left and get them going.
Rich
Yeah.
Covino
So it's that time of year.
Rich
It's that time of year.
Covino
Blake Snell was the man yesterday. It could have went the opposite way and we wouldn't have been all excited about it. But it worked out for Danny G's Dodgers. He came through. And again, your thoughts on that? Congratulations to Clayton Kershaw. Clayshaw.
Rich
Clayshaw, my dude.
Covino
And we got to talk some NFL and old school when 50 hits. We got lots of Covino and Rich.
Rich
I want you start thinking we're going to play a little fill in the blank and it has to do with Mike McDaniel. Do you want me to. You want to tease it now, Dan? Want me to give you the fill in the blank and everyone can give us their answers next?
Danny G
Yeah. That way we all have time to think about it.
Rich
All right, I want you to think of this. You two eyes of glowing crown, put down your sandwich. Whatever you're eating over there.
Covino
Those aren't pillows. It's a torta.
Rich
He's a torta pounder over there.
Covino
Yeah. Cheese.
Rich
Mike McDaniel survives.
Covino
If right.
Rich
You're going to Buffalo tonight.
Covino
It's not going to be if they win because they're not winning winning in Buffalo. I mean, if they do, then yeah.
Rich
Then you know, that's fine.
Covino
But that'd be a major surprise.
Rich
What would it take for Mike McDaniel?
Danny G
Maybe that's the better way to pose the question.
Rich
What would it take for Mike McDaniel to survive another week in Miami? So Mike Daniel. Mike McDaniel survives. I said it again. Mike Daniel. I'm shortening everyone.
Covino
What's going on Right there, Right there.
Rich
Sovino. Steve Cavino.
Covino
That's Stovino.
Rich
Stovino. Mike McDaniel survives. If fill in the blank. We'll do that next. And a bunch more right here on Covino and Rich.
Covino

Now you can make a difference in.

Job in home care.
Covino
These jobs offer flexible schedules, health care, retirement options and free training. They also provide paid time off and opportunities for overtime.
Danny G
Visit oregonhomecarejobs.com to learn more and apply.
Covino
That's oregonhomecarejobs.com hey, this is Matt Jones and I'm Drew Franklin and this is NFL Cover Zero. We think NFL coverage should be informative and entertaining and twice a week that is exactly what you're going to get. We're just here to try to give you an NFL Perspective a little bit different. Did you see the Colts pretzel? That was my other big takeaway from that game. What was that? Looks like something that should not be sold.
Rich
Oh, my.
Covino
So that was my other big Colts takeaway. They sold that?
Rich
Yes.
Covino
Might want to go back to the Colts stadium. Yeah, I might want to go back to the drawing board on that.
Rich
Yeah.
Covino
I thought the shape we had with pretzels was working pretty well. It's worked for generations. We're just here trying to enjoy it. We hope you all will join us throughout the year. And let's go. I hope I'm as youthful as Pete Carroll is at his age. A young 73. He is a young 73. He is spry, I would say. I wouldn't fight him.
Danny G
I would listen to NFL Cover Zero.
Covino
With Matt Jones and Drew Franklin on.
Danny G
The iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever.
Covino
You get your podcast. I started trying to get pregnant about four years ago.
Announcer
Now we're getting a little bit older.
Rich
And it just kind of felt like.
Announcer
The window could be closing. Bloomberg and iHeart podcasts present IVF Disrupted the Kindbody Story, a podcast about a company that promised to revolutionize fertility care, introducing kindbody, a new generation of women's health and fertility care. Backed by millions in venture capital and private equity, it grew like a tech startup. While kindbody did help women start families, it also left behind a stream of disillusioned and angry patients.
Covino
You think you're finally, like, with the.
Announcer
Right people in the right hands, and then to find out again that you're just not.
Covino
Don't be fooled by what all the bright and shiny.
Announcer
Listen to IVF the Kindbody Story, starting September 19th on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It was crazy.
Rich
Of salt.
Covino
Of salt Cavino and Rich will be throwing it back on a Thursday, like we always do. Thursday's the new Friday weekend. Begins tonight. Week three begins tonight. We'll get you fired up for that. And we go old school. When 50 hits, we reminisce in about 20 minutes. It involves TV shows. Put it that way.
Rich
Okay.
Covino
And speaking of this weekend, Rich, you know what tomorrow is? Tomorrow is the anniversary of Goodfellas 1990, a legendary movie. And that's why I'm wearing this T shirt. You see, I got one Doug going this way, one Doug going that way.
Danny G
That's dope.
Covino
And the guy in the middle saying, what do you want from me?
Rich
It's a great shirt.
Covino
And for the record, Ray Liotta who plays Henry Hill in this movie from my hometown of Union, New Jersey. So that movie for us was like, like the holy grail of gang movies. And if you never saw it, this weekend's the weekend to do that. Sam, when's the last time you saw Good Fellas in full front to back?
Rich
It's been a while.
Covino
I've seen chunks and chunks over the years. We're a bunch of good fellas here on the CNR show.
Rich
Grand program you're watching on the YouTube feed, which, by the way, I encourage you to do. Check it out. Watch the clips. There's Kavino's sweet Asher. Look at that.
Covino
And speaking of sweet asses.
Rich
Anyway, Blake Snell, we were talking about him.
Covino
Anyway, we're done talking about Blake Snell. We were talking about Cal Rally.
Rich
We were talking about Dave Roberts and Blake Snell last night. We're going to get back to that in a second. But just a reminder, we are live from the FOX Sports Radio studio and the LG Boom. The X Boom grab is the portable speaker that powers your hustle from morning coffee runs to midnight rooftop hangs. Enjoy vibrant sound with up to 20 hours of playback. And now save 25%@LG.com with code fall25. Bring the boom. Xboom.
Covino
Yeah, use that code F A L L25. Thanks again to LG, LG.com and the Xboom. So we're bringing the boom every day, Kavino and Rich, at least we're trying and we want you to be part of it. Like Rich said on the YouTube channel, not only to see what we're doing live, but to, to chat it up with other people listening and just trying to get through the day like you are. And that's also where our bonus pod airs in an hour and a half. So check it out. Covino Enrich FSR on YouTube.
Rich
All right, let's, let's say hi to Mike in Minnesota. He had a thought about dog pictures. You got that dog in you, Blake Snell style. What's up, Mike?
Covino
Yeah. Yeah. So being a Minnesota boy, Jack Morris.
Rich
St. Paul native, where I'm from, 91.
Covino
World Series, 10 innings, shut out, game seven World Series dude, that's what I think I was thinking of. And I couldn't remember what it was. That's the one.
Rich
Could we all agree that he does not get enough credit for that game.
Covino
Or credit for his mustache or.
Rich
I mean, that's, that's one of the all time great performances that no one talks enough about.
Covino
No, that's. That's the one like I was trying to think. I'm like, I, I'm thinking of the Garrett Cole one because that's recent history and that's why I said that. I'm like, there's another one. That's it. That was it, man. Thank you so much. And you got to respect that. You know, these guys want the ball. You don't want any wimpy sort of body language or a guy who just doesn't trust his stuff. Blake Snell was trusting what he had last night and it worked out to the Dodgers benefit. So that was a really cool story. You want that in your starting pitchers and your aces and just that competitive nature. It's just cool to see.
Rich
So we move on to the NFL. Have you thought about it? Are you ready to fill in the blank? What will it take for Mike McDaniel to survive game three? Week three. Tonight, Thursday night Football in Buffalo against Josh Allen and the Bills. They're two and oh, you're owing to. I mean this looks daunting. The point spreads, almost two tuddies. 12 and a half is the Vegas odds right now.
Covino
So.
Rich
So my answer is simply.
Covino
Keep it.
Rich
Within a one score game and you buy. And you buy yourself another week.
Covino
Yeah, I think, you know, field goals, wishful thinking.
Rich
If you touchdown.
Danny G
I feel like that's what it's going to have to be though, Covino, like buy a field goal where you have a chance maybe to win the game on the last drive, man.
Covino
Because I think, yeah, he saves his reputation a little bit.
Rich
I think if Buffalo covers, you might be done with Mike McDaniel in Miami. If Buffalo wins 38, 17. I think it's.
Covino
How about.
Rich
I think it's over if Tyree Kill is crying on the sidelines, stomping his feet. And if you see visibly upset Dolphins, that's a cry. If you see visibly upset Dolphins, snowflake, then it's over. I think if there's body language of aggravation and they get stomped, I think just there'd be no other choice but to be like, yeah, we got to change directions. Mike McDaniel, you're a good guy.
Covino
Within one score and one coherent sentence from Mike McDaniel. How about if he just delivers at the press conference? Yeah, how about if he gets one sentence out that makes sense this week? We got to give him a little credit because he. That's where he's looking his way worst in the past few weeks in the press conference. Like, you know, when it comes to the game, you could be like man, this team stinks. And. And it's not on the coach in that moment. But, Mike, it's been. It's been really bad.
Danny G
Which coach do you guys think of as, like, the greatest motivational speaker? He'd have to come out like that in and fire up his team.
Rich
Well, he better do a zoom call. He better do a zoom call with Pete Carroll in the next two hours. Then if he. If he wants to get some lessons.
Danny G
To kick over a whiteboard in front of the press.
Covino
I think of the Dan Campbell, like, that rah rah football type of guy. I mean, that's who comes to mind, I think.
Rich
Was it our pal Taylor Brashati of the NFL Network, or was it K ot Adams? It was definitely one of those girls someone questioned on social media. How many packs of gum do you think Pete Carroll goes through a week? Have you ever seen that guy not chewing gum?
Covino
That's a good point. Yeah. No, I don't know the answer to it.
Rich
Is he a bubblicious guy?
Covino
What's the over under here?
Rich
Is Pete Carroll an old school. He's an old guy.
Covino
He's a hubba Bubba guy.
Rich
Is he eating blackjack?
Covino
I don't know.
Danny G
The flavor does not last long enough in those pieces.
Rich
So is he. Is he. Does he go through Bazooka Joe? Does he go through 25 packs of fruit Stripe gum that loses its flavor immediately?
Covino
They don't make fruit stripe anymore. I know. So it used to be fruit stripe. So now I wonder, what is the gum? He's a big red guy. Get your skin shined up, grab a stick of Juicy Fruit.
Rich
The taste is gonna move.
Danny G
I found it. Somebody has asked him. He choose bubble yum.
Covino
Wow. We were close. Good choice. We were close. That's so random.
Rich
Bubble yum. Bubble yum.
Covino
That's so weird.
Rich
Imagine. Imagine just being. Imagine being a new player on the Raiders. You get called up from the practice squad and just try to be in the good graces of coach Carroll. You stop at his office and throw some bubble yum on his desk.
Danny G
It says here he can go through as many as three packs on game day.
Covino
Well, what do you think they're rocking in the dugout?
Rich
Do you know Double bubble?
Covino
Yes. Double bubble. Wear that stupid bucket on their head.
Rich
Yeah. Pete Alonzo, they threw a bucket of a bucket on his head the other day.
Covino
It's double bubble.
Rich
But double bubble.
Covino
Now, for the record, that's the one with the crown. They.
Rich
They have different flavors of double bubble. I don't know if that's always been the case, but the kid. The kids have it at the games, and, yeah, they have different flavors.
Covino
Before you start talking about spearmint guy. Spearmint or fruit, the question was pretty good. What do the Dolphins have to do to save Mike McDaniel's job tonight? How close does it have to be? Do they have to. You know, maybe. Maybe it's just keep Buffalo score low. Maybe they lose by over a touchdown, but they still sort of.
Rich
Because then if they somehow. Because if two in Tyreek, then he'll be angry. And I think the only.
Covino
But I do think it's how he handles the press. That's been a weird storyline. It's almost like. Like he. He kind of forgot how to handle the press or he's, like, sabotaging his own job as a 49ers, it's been.
Rich
Noticeably bad as a 49ers guy. I always have a soft spot for Mike McDaniel. I always thought he was a great coordinator, and I feel like he's a.
Covino
Breath of fresh air. He's just different from your typical football guy, your Bill Cower type of guy. You know, he's a different type of guy.
Rich
And I always thought that maybe Mike McDaniel is the type of guy that, when all said and done, remember, I like Wade Phillips. There's certain people that are, yeah, they're a decent head coach, but a better coordinator. Look at Jim Schwartz as a better coordinator. Maybe, like, there's certain guys that are better coordinators. Maybe. You know, I think Mike McDaniel would easily find the job pretty much right away as a coordinator next year.
Covino
So if you want to do a perfect Mike McDaniel impression, just imagine a very sleepy college student in their dorm. Their roommate comes in and opens the blinds at 11am oh, man. I don't have class till 4. What are you doing? I'm going to sleep. That's.
Rich
That's. That's sort of the tone he said.
Covino
Yeah. So sleepy. I'm so sleepy.
Rich
So I'll tell you this.
Covino
You want to make the class on time, you got to wake up on time. I think it's 11. I can sleep two hours.
Rich
I think the only way he survives a heartbreaking loss, like 27, 24.
Covino
The best way to not fail the class is to pass the class. That's the kind of stuff he's been saying. Close the blinds, man.
Rich
So do you root for Mike McDaniel? Yeah, of course. Right? I mean, like, I think we all do.
Covino
I think we all like him.
Danny G
I was rooting for him last week and had Achan not stepped out of bounds, they would have won that game.
Covino
The question comes from a good place. We all like him and he was a great story. Still could be. How do you keep the story going tonight against the arguably the best team in the league, the Buffalo Bills.
Rich
You know, Kavino, it really would be a cool shake up for the NFL just to show the parody, to show the parody of the league. Imagine somehow some way Miami, it would be cool, gets the better of Buffalo.
Covino
I don't see happening.
Rich
But in Buffalo, I mean, I feel like if you're doing a survivor pool, one of those type of things, I would imagine 90% of the people, if they haven't already picked Buffalo, are picking Buffalo over Miami this week.
Covino
I'd imagine.
Rich
Right. It's the biggest point spread of the week.
Danny G
I feel like we'll see how much the team loves their coach because they'll really fight for him tonight if they want him to stay in that spot.
Rich
That's, that's facts right there. Danny G. All right, let's go to our buddy Isaac Lohenkron for an update. What's up Ilo?
Covino
Hey, Ilo. Looking handsome today, fellas. The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that three time Cy Young award winner Clayton Kershaw will ret at the end of the season. Kershaw will make his final regular season home start tomorrow against the San Francisco Giants. The Seattle Mariners Wanted Kansas City today.
Rich
20 to tie the Houston Astros for.
Covino
First place in the American League West. Cleveland wanted Detroit 3 1. The Guardians on a seven game winning streak. Mets over the Padres 6 1. Pete Alonso homered for a fourth straight game. He now has 37 home runs this season. Athletics victorious at Boston 5 3. The A's Brent Rooker a two run.
Rich
Home run in the first inning for his third consecutive 30 home run campaign.
Covino
And sports journalist Pablo Torre reported today.
Rich
That the Los Angeles clippers made a.
Covino
$21 million payment to the company Aspiration.
Rich
In June of 2022.
Covino
The payment signed off in writing by the Clippers chief financial officer, was made at a time when aspiration was struggling for cash and was made two weeks before aspiration was due to make a payment to Clippers star Kawhi Leon. Guys, back to you.
Rich
Thank you, Isaac lohenkrohn Now, hey, coming up on Kavito and Rich, we go old school. We go old school every Thursday and this one has to do with old school sitcoms. If you're a TV fan in the 80s or 90s back in the day. Even before that, we'll reminisce a little bit on a throwback Thursday. Of course, more NFL. And of course it's cheeseburger day. So we'll talk some food. Who doesn't like talking about food and football and old school tv.
Covino
Plus there's a cool Coach prime story if we have time. But whatever, we don't have time for today. Over promised at 4pm on the west, 7pm on the east on our new YouTube page.
Rich
All right, perfect. More Kavino and Rich Next.

Rich
Ooh, I'm sweated out.
Covino
But he's sweating our baseball bat.
Rich
You're gonna win the bet. It's just about how much money I'm gonna owe you.
Covino
Grish him. Who? You downplay. Trent Grisham. Oh, he is him. Grish him. Was at it again. The pitch to Grisham. Drive to right. It's hit. Well, Walner just turns. Looks. It's gone.
Rich
Three run homer.
Covino
Trent Gresham six two lead for the Yankees. His second home run in as many at bats. He is having a just a spectacular season.
Rich
Yeah. When did he get good? He was like a platoon player.
Covino
The worst thought is that we started Verdugo and I like Verdugo but we started Verdugo over him last year. He didn't even get in that bat I don't think in the World series last year. Now he has 33 bombs.
Rich
Shame.
Covino
Trent Grisham. Three run home run. Second of the day and the Yankees win. The Yankees win. Shame. Courtesy of Yankees Radio Network that was our tire rack play of the day. Danny G
School when 50 hits at 50 after.
Covino
C& R give you the time capsule.
Rich
Topic and we reminisce together. Yeah. Oh yeah, buddies. Now I gotta ask, have you ever been to a a pop up store or some type of event based on a TV show or movie?
Covino
I read pop up books. Does that count?
Rich
No, it doesn't. Like spot. We went to a Saved by the Bell pop up when it was here in la. Some people love going to these things. I know they've done it for a lot of shows throughout the years. Central Perk. They've had pop ups in the past the coffee shop based off of Friends. But now it looks like they have a perk permanent location in Times Square. Central Perth.
Danny G
They did open one in Boston but this is history in the making because it's going to be in Times Square in New York City where the show was based.
Covino
Honestly, please explain this. I watched the Mexican version on Univision. It was called Amigos so I have no idea what you're talking about. I never watched Friends.
Rich
They were not my friends. Are you joking? Enough.
Covino
I saw the last episode and that was a enough.
Rich
I remember everyone had a when they were like did she get off the plane? Did you get off the plane? And then Rachel was like I got off the plane.
Covino
They played the reason by Hooba Stank. That was the big song for the finale. Everybody had a party and I got dragged to a party at an ex girlfriend's you know, family's house. And I remember watching it not knowing what's going on. I never watched that cornball stuff. So tell me, like, what is Central Per.
Rich
I mean, cornball stuff.
Covino
Biggest show you're presenting. This I'm not down stuff. I'm not down playing the magnitude of this show.
Rich
You just called the biggest show of the 90s.
Covino
If you think that listening, you're. You're assuming that every guy listening to this knows the reference. I don't know it. I'm not saying it's not one that.
Danny G
It was popular cruise meetup spot. It was a coffee shop, like, comfortable with couches and. Oh, and Rachel, one of the main.
Covino
Mugs of, like, massive mugs of coffee, like, Sid's Pizza. Charles in charge.
Rich
That's your reference since pizza. But you don't know Central Perk.
Danny G
I don't know Central Perk in Covino. Jennifer Aniston worked there, and then Lisa Kudrow sang there.
Covino
I. I know I can smell each other.
Rich
Smell.
Covino
Here's a fun fact. My. My ex was an extra at Central Perk all the time. When I met her, she was still doing, like, extra work. And I know of the show, and I know how popular it is, but I don't know that reference. So I'm just saying, if I don't know it, you think everybody knows it.
Rich
I mean, not everyone, but not everybody. Everyone. Anyway, Central.
Covino
You think that everybody knows that. It's like Monk's Cafe from Seinfeld. Is there hangouts? There you go. No, no, no, I get it. But I don't know it. You should know that.
Rich
Come on.
Covino
I mean, I didn't even know my girlfriends knew it. I don't know.
Rich
I mean, I wasn't a big Friends fan, but, I mean, I watched it, but, I mean, geez. All right, well, anyway, Central Perk, guys, if you've never seen the show Friends, it was big in the. In the 90s, remember?
Covino
Everyone made a billion dollars 1900s. It was huge. That's not my point. But if you think I was watching that in the 90s, you're out of your mind.
Rich
Hold on, Camino. This might come as a shock to you. In Boston, there is a bar called Cheers.
Covino
I know.
Rich
Where everyone knows your name.
Covino
That's a good one. So I guess the question is, what is the fictional place based on this? Because Central Perk is now a real place.
Danny G
Could be a movie or TV show.
Covino
Movie, TV show. That you would like to. I have a number one answer, and I think we'll all agree on that.
Rich
All right, so save your number one answer and let's get the feedback rolling. The most interactive show here on fsr.

The answer is not the max on Saved by the Bell. Right? The Max with your magician waiter. No. Do you know that reference?
Covino
I do know that reference.
Danny G
Okay, how about the peach pit on 90210?
Covino
That's a good one. That's our second 9021 reference today.
Rich
Well, you know what? We got more Covino Rich and your answer's next best fictional hangout where you'd want to go.

The crew also dives into the pressure facing Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, the looming NFL week, and reminisces about nostalgic pop-culture hangouts. Plus, a healthy dose of the usual jokes, locker-room analogies, and classic Thursday throwbacks.

Rich on Blake Snell:
“I looked at that as leader. Ballsy, but also defiant. That's Dave Roberts. That's your manager.” [12:39]
Covino on trusting players:
“That's heart, and that's what you want from your ace… You want that fighting attitude, that killer instinct.” [12:50, 13:06]
Danny G on Dodgers’ frustration:
“Not this time. …Not on my watch. I'm going to finish this damn game. I'm pitching a gym.” [14:07]
Rich, on analytics:
“Analytics will probably win out [over a season], but once you get to a playoff run... analytics goes out the door.” [16:27]
Caller Mike (Minnesota):
“Jack Morris. St. Paul native, where I'm from, '91 World Series, 10 innings, shutout...That's one of the all-time great performances that no one talks enough about.” [32:26-32:53]
Covino mocking “Friends”:
“If you think I was watching that in the '90s, you're out of your mind.” [51:00]
Rich on McDaniel’s job security:
“I think if Buffalo covers, you might be done with Mike McDaniel in Miami… If you see visibly upset Dolphins, then it's over.” [34:20-34:32]
Covino and Rich balance sharp sports debate, pop culture throwbacks, and humor, with Danny G’s die-hard fan perspective and regular ribbing among the crew. Listeners get a mix of irreverent sports talk, nostalgia, and locker-room camaraderie.
