Covino
Maybe that's just too many tacos on this Tuesday.
Rich
I mean, I did just eat tacos, so maybe it is the tacos.
Covino
Exactly. Covino and Rich sweeping the nation on Fox Sports Radio. Hope you're having a Baker Mayfield sort of day, not a Geno Smith sort of day. You know how they say, I'm sorry, Danny. Terence Crawford fought a master class, taught a master class in boxing in the Sweet Science over the weekend. They're saying Geno Smith taught a disaster class last night in qp.
Rich
All right, that's enough.
Covino
That was a flat, flat game.
Rich
Hey, Ryan. What's up, bud?
Covino
But it's hard to be sexy when Ryan's here. Danny G's here. We're glad you're here. Let's be rocking out. Let's go.
Rich
All right. Hey, Doing it live from the Fox Sports Radio studio, CNR on fsr. And we're going to get to some trivia today. In fact, Showtime Mahomes trivia. We're going to talk about baseball a little bit. I mean, like I said, we do have 12 games left and I'm calling out your dude, Michael K. I know you love Michael K. My dad loves.
Covino
Michael K. He's great. But he has a reputation of being a little pompous, which is why I like him. Yeah, but I like that attitude. He doesn't really have that much attitude when he's calling Yankees games. But when he's doing his radio show, he really unleashes.
Rich
But he said something about celebrations and it's like, oh, Michael K, you're so off. So I'm Calling out your dude, Michael Kate. But we got to start with Tom Brady. And of course, last night, one good game, one bad one. Is there anything else you really need to say? I think you need to say the Madison Beer effect. Justin Herbert's two zero.
Covino
No, no. I think you need to start with the Buccaneers and say that Baker Mayfield was always good. You made this point on our Patreon today because I was saying what a dog he is. Baker Mayfield's a dog. As the meme. That meme goes just became one. He was always good, and he got.
Rich
Dissed by Cleveland, as the meme goes. He was only guilty of one thing, being associated with the Browns, and he took that bunk organization and took them deep into the playoffs.
Covino
But you weren't sure where it was going to go. When his head didn't seem to be all in football and he was doing commercials and everything else. I always felt maybe because he was associated with Cleveland, that he could have went down the Johnny Manziel path of greatness. And that's no knock on Johnny Manziel. I actually think he's a cool dude, too, and he turned his life around. I'm happy for him. But to see Baker Mayfield just take the ball and run with it, pun intended. Pun absolutely intended. And carry that team on his back when they need him, it's just impressive to watch. He's like the current. I don't want to say like Doug Flutie of the league, but he just plays to win. He's not the best at anything, but you know that he's going to give you his all.
Rich
Yes. The heart he has.
Covino
He plays with that noticeable energy and heart that a guy like. I mean, who comes to mind for you? I don't know. Doug Flutie came.
Rich
That's a good one. But I think, you know how they always do those things, like construct the best baseball player, and it's like the swag of Tatis, the arm of. You know. So if you were to construct the best quarterback. I feel like the heart of Baker Mayfield. I'm picking.
Covino
You know, I wouldn't argue that. You've seen some really impressive.
Rich
You're not going to pick his arm, you're not going to pick his legs. You're not going to, you know, but.
Covino
His determination and his ability to keep his legs moving and his heart is there. And it was a nice come from behind win over the Texans yesterday. Props to him. And he showed that sigh of relief when he hit the podium last night. Yes. He did it. What's up, Danny J.
Danny G
Two workman like quarterbacks that remind me of that Rich, your boy Steve Young back in the day when we were kids, and also Rich Gannon. They would, like, will their team down the field.
Covino
Yeah, he plays with a lot of will and determination, and it's just fun to watch as a fan, so. So props to the Buccaneers, props to his career.
Rich
And where.
Covino
Where it's been did we need.
Rich
Because I don't. I. I feel like we did, but didn't. Did we need that one Baker Mayfield Rams game to remind ourselves, oh, he deserves another shot? Remember that one Rams game?
Covino
Yeah.
Rich
Where it's like, oh, yeah, yeah, Baker against the Raiders. But yeah, yeah, they should have seen.
Danny G
That and been like, let's. Let's sign him when he's a free agent.
Rich
But you know, sometimes you need a reminder, right. In a relationship, at a job where you. You need to remind people of your value. And I think Baker Mayfield took that opportunity. That one game that really didn't mean much on the schedule, but that one game where it's like, yo, he came back and won that game and showed some grit and heart. That one Rams game, I think gave everyone the reminder that, yeah, Baker Mayfield got a raw deal. And Cleveland has to feel like a bunch of ass clowns knowing that they gave up on this guy to go after Deshaun Watson, who at the time was the, quote, hotter chick.
Covino
Exactly.
Rich
And then that didn't work out, and now you're like, oh, man, what do we hoping with Joe Flacco or Shador or this guy? It's.
Covino
It's good to remind people who's in charge. That's why we've always said, rich, when the relationships on the rocks, you gotta double up just to remind them. Mayfield 215 yards, two tuddies. The Buccaneers win 2019. And then, honestly, it felt like such a flat ass game. And nothing, nothing I hate more than a flat ass. Everything about that game last night, you could say, good defense, Danny G. I know you got to give credit. It was 29. And.
Danny G
And they kept giving the ball back, the defense to Gino to give him another opportunity to come back. At the end of the game, I.
Covino
Was trying to watch and concentrate, and I kept looking at my phone and scrolling and I was just bored by that game. Hoping, because I like Geno Smith, hoping your Raiders turned it around, hoping for you too. But again, just sloppy play. It's not all on Geno. I think we agree on that. He was scrambling around, running for his life.
Danny G
Yeah.
Covino
So the O line is off. But three picks, Chargers win 29 in a boring later.
Danny G
Got to give a lot of credit to that Chargers defense. There was a reason he was holding on to the ball as long as he was. Nobody was open. And even though the offensive line wasn't playing the way they're capable of, he just looked like it. Reminded me of a Derek Carr game, to be honest with you.
Covino
Yeah. That must have drove you, you and Ryan crazy. Like you know anything.
Danny G
You know, he's got talent, but he just was making bad decisions. He was throwing into double and triple coverage sometimes.
Covino
Oh, did you see his body language after that?
Danny G
Yeah.
Covino
He was sitting there like, you know, that's what a face looks like after three picks, like he was Les Miserables.
Rich
I got. I got to ask. Our number one update guy and one of the big dogs here at Fox Sports Radio, Dan Byer.
Covino
Big dog, huh? Big dog.
Rich
The guy's been here 20 years.
Dan Beyer
How about that?
Rich
I feel like if anyone.
Covino
Big dog.
Rich
If anyone competes with Mike for running this place, it might be Dan Beyer, my guy. Big dog, do you have a parting gift for Cavino since he's now out of the Guillotine League?
Covino
You got to bring that up, dude. I feel like such a loser.
Rich
Is there a gift basket? Like, does he get, like, a little bag of Cheetos or something?
Covino
A Edible Arrangement for the record. Week two, I'm already out of the Guillotine League.
Rich
It's the worst week to be out because week one, you almost get a bonus for being bad.
Covino
Yeah.
Rich
And you only have to pay half the entry fee.
Dan Beyer
Let's. Yes. We give you something back if you're eliminated. Week one.
Covino
Well, lesson learned, man. I was too. Bills heavy. And it was ride or die with the Bills, sort of. Josh Allen.
Rich
But last night you had an opportunity because you were playing against Nick Chubb, who did not have a great game until. Until the touchdown. Take away that touchdown, and I said, kavino, you might be one Jacoby Myers TD away from sneaking through, but, oh, not so much.
Dan Beyer
Tipped in the end zone, picked off.
Rich
But, hey, Kavino, you could. You could watch. You could, like, follow my team.
Covino
No, Absolutely. Yeah. You know what? Go get him next year. That's what I'm looking toward. But I was very Bills heavy.
Rich
You like the girl that got voted off? You like the girl that got voted off the Bachelor in week two. And then when they have the reunion, everyone's like, who's that in this Guillotine League?
Covino
You're right. You're right. I'm that guy. I don't even remember that guy.
Rich
Wait, he was on this season.
Covino
I remember. There's no moves I could have made in the first week and Khalil Shakir did nothing. Josh Allen had an average game like I just did nothing thing that week.
Dan Beyer
Alan killed you. Yes, because of his lack of production. Now the Bills don't care. They got the easy win and James Cook at a huge game. But that's what happens. He was a high pick of Cavino's as well.
Rich
Yeah, Josh Kavino was going to live and die off of Josh Allen.
Dan Beyer
Yeah, and you had AJ Brown as well who is stunk the first two weeks.
Covino
I thought I was set to be honest for a minute.
Rich
You thought you would at least to be honest in these type of things. And I am comparing it to something as corny as the Bachelor or some type of an elimination game. You always assume all right, I'll make it to the middle at least. And you had some big name players.
Covino
So no Jimmy Eat World for me.
Rich
Yeah, you're not in the middle. No Marin Morris, nothing.
Covino
Now, any observations you can make on Monday Night Football, by all means, get involved. At 87799 on Fox and at covinoenrich at Fox Sports Radio. Rich
And if you want to watch us right now, hey, we're streaming video live. And our video producer spot the best in the biz. So he's putting up videos and pictures of of what we're talking about. So it's sort of like a TV show if you want to play along again, YouTube.com/at Covinoenrich FSR and I had one question before we get to Brady because he is on everyone's mind and we're not going to do your typical is Tom Brady? Should he be allowed. That's not the angle we're going for, so don't sweat it. But based on yesterday, you had the early and late game. Would you guys be opposed to a double doozy every Monday night if the NFL said, ooh, one west coast, one east coast. Is that is that something that is appealing or is it just early NFL season? Everyone's Hyped. Do you think by like week four, you'd be like, oh, two games. Would we want a double doozy every Monday?
Danny G
I don't think so. Especially if you wound up having two stinkers back to back.
Covino
Yeah.
Rich
And then you got to do with short weeks. And I know the players would not want that, but I just, you know.
Covino
Rich, I'm not opposed to it, but I don't think anybody needs it, right?
Rich
Oh, of course. We don't need anything. We don't need Friday occasional games. We don't need international games.
Covino
A Monday Night Football game.
Dan Beyer
I don't know if you might, because I think it's the east coast and central time zone. They don't want to stay up late and watch the games. But here's my only thing that I would say back to them is if you took, let's just say you took Buccaneers and Texans, you just put them at one o' clock Eastern time on Sunday. How many people are actually seeing that game when there are seven other games going on?
Covino
Right.
Dan Beyer
So it's the point of you're getting an extra game. It's fine if you don't want to watch it. Maybe you wouldn't have watched it at one o', clock, but it's not like this awful thing where you're being deprived of football because it's so late. You probably wouldn't have been watching that game anyway.
Rich
It's one less game to decide does it make my four screen tv.
Dan Beyer
And I think that there are very few people that have the Sunday ticket or the ability to put up four screens for as much as we see it on social media. I think more of the average person just has their living room TV or monitor and how they're watching. So when they complain about the late kickoff time, I just say, you wouldn't have been watching that game anyway if it wasn't on in your local market. So this is actually a bonus to you.
Rich
Let me tell you slow clap for you, because you make total sense, Right? Because when we were kids, what made Monday Night Football special, when you, if you're a kid like us of the 80s and 90s before Sunday Ticket and red zone. And before all this, I remember as a Niners fan when I had my little Joe Montana jersey on and my dad would let me stay up until halftime on Monday night if it was a game where I really wanted to watch.
Covino
Right?
Rich
Because 9 o' clock was the eastern standard time. You only got so many looks at other teams like, tell me you knew anything about like the Saints in the 80s, what did they get? Maybe one game and the Niners or Cowboys or someone stomped them. I think this is a great opportunity because you're right, Dan. It's either another one o' clock Eastern game that gets buried somewhere or it's on your octo, you know, your four screen, your quad, or it's on Monday night.
Danny G
Isn't part of what made Monday Night Football special in the first place though was. And we hear this from players often, the whole country's watching us right now. Everybody's tuned into this one game, Sunday Night Football.
Covino
Now.
Dan Beyer
Yes, that's the problem. And they didn't overlap Sunday night.
Danny G
Right? I do like how they didn't overlap the two games yesterday. And for us on the west coast it was nice because I was selfishly I was able to finish your post production and go get some food and get home. And I was home by seven to watch the start of that game. So that was nice for us.
Covino
West Coast, I'm all for it, Rich. I made a whole night around it. I did nothing but watch football and had the Yankees on my phone.
Dan Beyer
And you're talking to someone here who thinks that the Sunday Night Football game is too much. I liked it the old way where Monday night was the marquee window, like for us to consume all of that football in one day. I do think that it is a lot on Sunday. But for Monday, to Danny's point, we missed the start on the west coast of that game and the east coast people are like, well, we're going to miss the endings to the contest. And I get that that's probably more important. But in two weeks we've got a 715 Eastern and an 815 Eastern staggered kick of Jets Dolphins followed by Bengals Broncos. So you're going to just be missing those games anyway because you're going to probably have to choose one of the other. So I just don't find any argument sufficient in why they shouldn't do it that way with this, the true double header.
Rich
Yeah, I'm listen more football. And again, Dan made the best points all up, I'll say it one more time, is that if it's a game that would have been buried at one o' clock anyway at the in the early docket on a Sunday, put it on. Put it on Monday night in double header fashion. If you're a football fanatic, you watch both. If not, no harm, no foul. And I think it's good to get those teams visible. Some of the teams that you wouldn't really see Right. I think it was great. I. I enjoyed having two games on last night.
Covino
Same. And speaking of football. Yeah. Tom. TB12. Tommy boy.
Rich
Tommy Boy.
Covino
Tommy Brady. Tommy, like, Wingy is robbing everybody in the NFL the wrong way.
Rich
Well, is he? I mean, because here's.
Covino
He needs to take lessons from Johnny Gill.
Rich
Rub him the right way.
Covino
Gotta rub them the right way. Because I think. And it seems obvious, and Big Mike will tell you, too. Everybody's complaining. Mike, who runs this place. Bald guy, works here. Words of wisdom. Seems like everybody in the NFL was complaining about the guy.
Rich
Well, if the NFL has to put out a statement, that means, you know, complaints were made. My thought is this. I'm not doing the whole he shouldn't be allowed or this.
Covino
That.
Rich
My big angle is, you know, Tom Brady just needs to chill a little bit. And I'm not saying, listen, I don't want to be the guy that's like a costume is marriage. But remember, he played longer than he told his family he would. Now he's in the booth calling games. Then he's in the box with the Raiders. He's doing flag. He's doing flag football.
Covino
Trying to tone down Tommy boy's ambition here and who he is.
Rich
Dude, he's doing flag football in Abu Dhabi in March. He's doing.
Covino
Dude, he's got Tiger's blood. Did you see his DNA?
Danny G
Did you see him throw that pass to the sheik?
Covino
Yes. Oh, that was grunk, by the way. Danny G sent me a video of Tommy Boy, and the sheet came, like.
Danny G
Up to his waist.
Covino
Turkey Alashik. When they were promoting the flag football league. And he's like, is this AI? And I wasn't sure at first. I'm like, is Turkey Alishik behind this whole organization? I didn't know that this guy has.
Rich
So much money that NFL flag football.
Covino
Tom Brady, I like you. I will buy you for my league.
Rich
Wrestlemania.
Covino
I buy you for flag football league.
Rich
Canelo Crawford, he's hanging there with Mr. Beast. Is this chic? I want to. I want to imagine the chic is like, I like one radio show.
Covino
The chic. He like Tommy. He likes Tom Brady. Man, you got Tom Brady in the flag football league, and that's the latest addition to Tom Brady's calendar. You know what?
Rich
Forget it, Kavino. Forget the Tom Brady stuff.
Covino
Well, your whole thing is chill out, Tom Brady.
Rich
No, my new thing is Danny G. How do we work behind the scenes? We need the chic to have one favorite radio show and one favorite podcast, and that's us.
Covino
Oh, my.
Rich
All you need.
Covino
God, I wish I was his favorite radio show.
Danny G
Rich's solar power parlay brought to you by the Chic.
Covino
This is, like, a really weak example, but remember when Justin Bieber was the hottest thing going? I know he's headlining Coachella. That's the big announcement for 2026. Him and Sabrina Carpenter. But when Justin Bieber was at his peak, when he was peak, as the kids say, his favorite comedian was Chris d', Elia, and that put Chris d' Elia on the map.
Rich
I remember young kids like, yeah, Chris.
Covino
Delia, he would come out as Justin Bieber's favorite comedian, Chris De Lea.
Rich
And he's like, hey, I want to be.
Covino
If we're Turkey Alashik's favorite radio show. Endless, endless limits, Endless funds, endless possibilities.
Rich
Imagine he was like, guys, you must do your show live from Saudi Arabia.
Covino
Dude, we could broadcast the flag football game live. They need unconventional broadcasters like us to call a flag football game. I say we do it.
Rich
Danny G. Get on it. Don't get. You got sheet connections. Yeah, that's true, Ryan. I do. Ryan's nodding. Ryan, you don't want part of this. I don't want to be put into a vat of chemicals.
Covino
No, I. I said it.
Rich
Yeah, we gotta go. We gotta go.
Covino
No, no, I'll take that money, dude, if you don't want it more for me, I'll take that turkey out of she.
Rich
I'll take. It's like, you know when, like, Beyonce will perform at some rich person sweet 16 for, like. Yeah, 8.8mil.
Covino
I. Bro, broadcasting is what I do for a living. If they're gonna pay me, let's go. I'll do it.
Rich
If you're gonna judge us, judge everyone in boxing, wrestling, football, judge Saquon Barkley McCaffrey.
Covino
He's not paying me every rodeo clown. If he paid me to do radio, that's what I do. Sure, let's go.
Rich
I'll be his personal court jester.
Covino
So he signed Tom Brady and a bunch of big names to do flag football. So that's just one more thing for Tommy to chew on. My point is, you see more than he can choose.
Rich
Really part of the question, your criticism of me as. As your friend and co worker and business partner.
Covino
Well, it's hard to say no. I get it.
Rich
But, you know, his criticism of me is, dude, you're coaching all your kids. You're doing all these shows. You're.
Covino
You spread yourself thin.
Rich
You know, you just say yes to everything because you want to be involved And I feel like Tom Brady sort of doing what I do, and you criticize me for doing it. So go ahead and criticize Tommy. NFL ownership, NFL broadcaster.
Covino
Same Donna's DNA that Tom Brady has. This guy took his ambition to the NFL, but the same way yours to.
Rich
You could say mine's more important. I'm doing stuff with my kids and children.
Covino
Took yours to West Hills Ponyball.
Rich
It's very important. Big league.
Covino
I'm just joking, but you know what I'm saying, Like, he's. He's got a lot of help. You think Tom Brady is doing all these things without an assistant and someone driving him around while he's preparing and you know, that's a different story. I'm sure he's paying people to make all these things work for him.
Rich
I want you to say everything to Tom Brady that you say to me. You're doing too much.
Covino
Hey, bonehead, you're doing too much.
Rich
And Spot will always say something snarky. Like what? Do you not like to be alone in your thoughts?
Covino
Yeah, man. Why don't you spend time with your wife and kids at home?
Rich
You need to fill your calendar. Tom Brady is. Listen, there's two types of people, and you're looking at too, Red Vines and Twizzlers. Totally Twizzlers, by the way.
Covino
Players and haters.
Rich
Blue cheese and ranch. I know there's a million two types of people, but I'm talking about Michael.
Covino
Buffers and Bruce Buffers.
Rich
Michael all day. There's two types of people. People that like dots on the calendar and people that want an empty calendar. Cavino looks at a weekend and says, no dots. Perfect. I'm going to sit around, scratch my thighs and watch the Yankees.
Covino
That's the best.
Rich
I look at a calendar with no dots on the weekend, I'm like, babe, you want to have these people over for a barbecue? Hey, what's going for a bar? Hey, you guys want to go apple picking? Like I want to do things.
Covino
Why do you like, chill? You have no chill.
Rich
I got no chill.
Covino
Well, that's a problem.
Rich
Guess who else?
Covino
Maybe you should talk to somebody.
Rich
Guess who else doesn't Tom Brady? Does he need chill?
Covino
Well, Boomer Esiason thinks he does. Again, he was sounding off on Tom Brady being seen in the Raiders coaches box on Monday Night Football. And word on the streets is the NFL had to put out a statement that he did nothing wrong, which insinuates that multiple people had complained about it. A lot of people saw it, but he seemed to have done nothing Wrong there. But again, conflict of interest. Or at least it appears that way. Broadcasting partial owner of the Raiders. TB12. His fitness stuff, his podcast appearances. Doesn't he still have a radio show?
Rich
He does the thing with Jim Gray.
Covino
And now flag football as of yesterday. That was his big announcement.
Rich
Oh, yeah. Add how I play softball a couple times a week, too. But so I ask you this. Are you a Tom Brady or not? And do you think Tom Brady is just doing too much?
Covino
I don't think you could. You ever heard the expression narrow focus, broader results? When your head is everywhere, you're not giving your all to one particular thing, you're losing focus. If your head is in all these different buckets and directions and you got all these different things going on, how could you really give your all to wherever it is it's needed? Please make that make sense for me. Is Tom Brady really the greatest broadcaster he could be when he's worried about flag football? Please tell me how that's possible.
Rich
Some. Some people like to balance a lot.
Covino
It's not balance. It's called distracting yourself from sometimes what the priority should be.
Rich
8, 7, 7.
Covino
That's how I see it.
Rich
9, 9 on Fox. As the screen says, join the conversation. Join Cavino and Rich. We'll take all your feedback next. Are you a Tom Brady or not? Are you a Cavino? Do you like the dots on the calendar? Do you not? And do you think there's such thing as doing too much or you just maximizing the time you have here on Earth?
Covino
Stuff starts to slip through the crack, and it's a matter of how good you're covering that up, because it's just bound to happen eventually. You're just hoping that it's nothing major.
Rich
Well, you know what? We'll get all your feedback. We'll talk a little TB12. And anything you guys want to chime in on, hey, we're. We're the most interactive show. So let's do it. 8, 7, 7, 9, 9 on Fox. Now, Kavino, we talked to the people at TCL yesterday, good people, and let me tell you, they. They got me pumped up because we're gonna. We might get some new TVs in the studio here.

Facility, he knows keeping the line up.
Dan Beyer
And running is a top priority.

That's why he chooses Grainger.

Hey, this is Matt Jones and I'm.

Drew Franklin and this is NFL Cover Zero. We think NFL coverage should be informative and entertaining. And twice a week, that is exactly what you're gonna get. We're just here to try to give you an NFL perspective a little bit different.
Covino
Did you see the Colts pretzel? That was my other big takeaway from that game. What was that? Looks like something that should not be sold.
Rich
Oh, my.
Covino
So that was my other big Colts takeaway.
Rich
They sold that? Yes.
Covino
Might wanna go back to the drawing.
Rich
Board at the Colts stadium.
Covino
Yeah, I might wanna go back to the drawing board on that.
Rich
Yeah. I thought the shape we had with pretzels was working pretty well. It's worked for generations. We're just here trying to enjoy it. We hope you all will join us throughout the year.
Covino
And let's go. I hope I'm as youthful as Pete Carroll is at his age. He's a young 73.
Rich
He is a young 73. He is spry.
Covino
I wouldn't fight him.
Rich
I would listen NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.
Greg Rosenthal
Football is back. That's right. The new NFL season is here and you should be listening to NFL Daily as we march along to Super Bowl 60. This is a show for sickos like me. What a game. What a season, what a team. Eagles fans savor it and rejoice.
Greg Rosenthal
Listen to NFL daily on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Covino
You know, I love Tuesdays tacos. I love busta Rhymes. Rich, you love Leanne Rhymes.
Rich
Are they related or.
Covino
No? I think they're cousins. Distant cousins. But I hate when big sexy Ryan's here because it's hard to feel sexy when he's on the ones and two. Yeah, I mean, you always see him, you know? And of course, superstar Danny G, who makes us sound like little schoolboys with a smooth, deep, buttery voice. He's on the phones at 877-99-FOX.
Rich
Why are you buttering them up? What are you looking at here?
Covino
I'm just trying to give props.
Rich
Trying to give props to Ben.
Covino
And of course, the greatest in the land, Dan Beyer will be here in a few minutes giving you updates, spots on the videos at Covino. And Rich gave you no compliment.
Rich
He just said, spot on the video.
Covino
He doesn't deserve compliment. Spot was sitting there all pompous.
Rich
Spot was waiting there, like when, you know, when Tommy Gunn won the belt and Rocky was standing there waiting for his thank you. And he's like, I'd like to thank one man, Washington, Duke.
Covino
Yo, that's a little disrespectful. Absolutely. Never. I. I hold your face in my hands. Okay, that's true. If you want to see spots, hard.
Rich
Work, cut to the one shot every time he picks his nose.
Covino
Right? YouTube @COVINO ENRICH FSR. We're streaming live at COVINO ENRICH fsr. I'm COVINO with the Yankee hat on. That's Rich Davis.
Rich
Nice win against the twins yesterday. Oh, wait, you got killed by the twins. Keep it going, Minnesota.
Covino
Yeah, that was weak.
Rich
Every loss, I owe you less money.
Covino
No, it's very weak. And now we go back to the phones because aside from Yankee sucking last night, big story was, well, the Buccaneers win. Mayfield's the man.
Rich
Yep.
Covino
The Raiders lose. But, hey, what was Tom Brady doing hobnobbing and schmoozing all night in the coaches booths? Well, it's okay. He's got a lot going on. Tom Brady's broadcasting. He's partial loner. He's got his TB12 stuff. He's slapping ass, probably on a weekend. He's probably preparing for this flag football thing he's got.
Rich
Yeah, and keep in mind, you're right. He's probably the, like, one of the most eligible bachelors out there. So when he does have a spare moment, I'm sure booty options are aplenty.
Danny G
In the booth, he actually had his game face on. He wasn't talking to anybody.
Covino
And someone apparently complained because the NFL put out a statement that he did nothing wrong. Boomera Siason went off today on his radio show. Poor Boomer. Yeah, but he had like a lot to say about how wrong it is and how it's a conflict of interest of Tom Brady being seen in the Raiders coaches box on Monday Night Football. But the question is this. When you got all these things going on, I mean he's a, he's a wanted guy, influential guy. Everyone wants a piece of Tommy. Is it Tommy chill out or yeah Tommy get yours because I think that dude needs a break.
Rich
By the way, how ironic that Boomer's name went from like a cool nickname to fitting that he's a. He is a Boomer and his name is Boomer. And when he complains like that sounds.
Covino
Like a Boomer you feel more bad for Boomer or all the Karen's out there whose names.
Rich
I guarantee there's a couple out there where the guy, the guy's nickname is like Boomer and he married a Karen.
Covino
They're the worst.
Rich
No one wants to hang out with Boomer and Karen.
Covino
Hanging with Boomer and Karen tonight.
Rich
I think I'll sit this one.
Covino
I think I'll pass. Honey. That's okay with you? So Rich is trying to say there's two types of people. People that need plans and dots on their calendar and things to do and some people that are just cool, chilling. Which one are you? Of course I don't think Tom Brady work life balance is always a goal of ours. But do you need to. Do you need to fill every spare moment of your day with something between.
Rich
His TB12 stuff between broadcasting, between ownership, between flag football, between all his projects, his being a dad, dating. I don't feel like Dan Byard. Tom Brady probably has something to do most hours of every day.
Dan Beyer
I think he's trying to fill his life post football to keep as busy as possible with as many things. And I think that there's a. A drive and an ambition. What I find curious about this and I'm curious your guys thoughts because you guys have brought this up before. This story does nothing for me. I am not mad about it. It is a complete, complete whatever burger. And I think the people who are mad are NFL teams, former players and some people in the media. I just don't think the common fan really cares at all on what Tom Brady is or isn't doing.
Rich
Cavino and I have a song. We can't say the real lyrics here on Fox Sports Radio but I. I don't give an s. I said I don't Give an s. Oh, hey, I.
Covino
Don'T give an s. I say I.
Rich
Don'T give an s. Yeah, that's our little theme. Because I don't give a sh. I don't give a crap. I'm with you 100%. I think it's people that hate on Tom Brady, people that got burned by Tom Brady and people that are just looking for a story and busy buddies.
Covino
But you can't help but make the observation, he's sitting there. No one has said that. The dude's always, like, up to something. You know who else I think that about? And you could say it's a compliment. Like, man, this dude has constant hustle. Or you could psychoanalyze and say, does this guy ever take a break? Does he not want to chill out and take a break? Mario Lopez, he was calling the fight on the weekend. Like, does this guy leave an opportunity for any other Latino guy like me? Like, does he have to have every gig? Does he have to be doing a show every minute of his life?
Rich
Well, you know, I felt that way about Seacrest for a while. He was my Mario Lopez.
Covino
Like, yo, man, go on a vacation. Take a break. Get sick or something. Give everybody. Give someone else a shot.
Rich
I look at Tom Brady dam byer like, and when I say sick, I.
Covino
Mean, like, go get a cold. I don't mean anything harmful for anybody. But, you know, some people, you realize, like, they just live to work. And it's like I've always said, Rich. Actually, I had a friend once tell me, don't love your job. Job, your love.
Rich
Job, your love. That's great.
Covino
Thank you.
Rich
Thank you, Dan. What I was going to say was I look at Tom Brady for the Raiders the way, again, I love to talk about my coaching prowess for five year olds, but, you know, you see coaches, there's always a dad that might actually have played in the bigs or a dad that, you know is a baseball expert if he gives the coach a little head once a while. Like, I see the kids dropping his elbow or, you know, the pitcher's striding to his left. Like, I think Tom Brady's. There is almost like quality control. A little tidbit here and there. I don't think Tom Brady is pulling the strings for the Raiders on a level that anyone should really care about.
Dan Beyer
Yeah. And I think that Pete Carroll is probably, to a point, since he turned 74 yesterday, isn't worried about somebody looking over his shoulder in that aspect of it. I think Pete Carroll's happy to have a job in the NFL at 74. And so to think that it could affect the Raiders as a team to have someone micromanaging is maybe what the appearance is. I don't think that's the case with the Raiders.
Covino
No.
Rich
Let's go to Vegas and we'll say how to trip and we'll go to DB's update right after trip, then take the rest of your feedback. What's up, Tripp?
Covino
Hey, good afternoon, guys.
Rich
Let me tell you, I'm laser focused.
Covino
From two to four our time every day.
Rich
Nice. I'm with DB on this.
Covino
Who cares?
Rich
The only reason they make a big deal out of it, it keeps the Raiders relevant.
Covino
Tom Brady has unlimited income.
Rich
He's one of the best ever at what he does. Who cares what he does? It's a non story. I just like hearing y' all talk about it. That makes it a story, in my opinion. Hey, I think we have a fun time talking about it. And you know what? I have a fun time listening to Dan Beyer. Let me know what's going on.
Dan Beyer
Well, I'm glad you guys are taking the angle that you are because it's not about is this good for the league. It's just of how do you live life. I'm of the Cavino. I love the open week. Yeah, it's magnificent.
Covino
And no one's mad about it. There's no boomers here like losing their marbles about Tom Brady's conflict of interest.
Dan Beyer
Some are, but not everybody. But I love the open schedule. That's why I'm a Cavino guy. Open weekends.
Covino
That's what I'm saying.
Rich
Yeah, I'm the annoying guy. That's like open calendar, let's go apple picking.
Dan Beyer
Let's go for a hike.
Rich
Let's go for a hike.
Covino
So annoying.
Rich
I know it.
Dan Beyer
As you guys mentioned, the NFL did release a statement saying that Brady is allowed to to sit in on the the coaches booth during games. In their statement they mentioned obviously he's a broadcaster for Fox and they laid out what he can and can't do. Not allowed to be at other teams facilities for practice or for production meetings. He is allowed to attend production meetings remotely and if he's doing a sit down interview with someone, can't be at the team's facilities, has to be at an off site location. Something that he doesn't do often. But those are the parameters that he has to work within.
Rich
Sort of the dual role. Sort of like when Aaron Andrews sat down with Travis Kelce last week. If he were to do one of those they just go down the block?
Dan Beyer
Yeah, probably barbecue joint right in Kansas City.
Rich
And I'll be honest, some of these young players, if they had the opportunity to sit down with Tom, they'd say, yeah, wherever you want to do it.
Dan Beyer
Sure, absolutely. Cincinnati Bengals officially placed Joe Burrow on injured reserve because of his turf toe injury. They signed Brett Rip into their active roster. Also added quarterbacks Mike White and Shawn Clifford to their practice squad. Vikings signed quarterback Desmond Ritter and placed running back Aaron Jones on IR with a hamstring injury. Buccaneers defensive tackle Kalasha Kanci tore his pec muscle during last night's win over the Texans. He'll miss the rest of the season. Baseball earlier today, Braves doubled up the National 63 in game one of a double header. Astro slugger Jordan Alvarez has a significant left ankle sprain expected to miss some time, according to skipper Joe Espada. Astros a half game back in the Mariners in the AL west, three up for the final wild card in the American League with 11 games to go. Dallas Stars guard Paige Becker's name the WNBA's rookie of the year for 2025. And I'm excited in golf because we get more Masters coverage. Amazon prime picking up a couple of hours on Thursday and Friday during the first and second rounds of the tournament at Augusta National Golf club in the second week of April. Amazon will be airing 1 o' clock until 3 o' clock Eastern time of first and second round play both on Thursday and Friday before giving way to ESPN who has coverage on those two days. Guys, back to you.
Covino
Thank you, D.B. again, Covino and Rich.
Rich
He brought up Mike White signed to the quarterback room. Mike White's one of those guys that he's lingering around long enough and he's like an effective roster spot as a backup qb. I just looked it up. He's made two to three million dollars a year for the last like five years. He's doing like you realize some of those guys you might think, oh, you know, no one really knows Mike White. Guys made a decent amount of money so far on the NFL.
Covino
All right.
Rich
Hey, more Tom Brady, more phone calls. We'll take your feedback. We're going to do my home Showtime trivia and Covino. With 12 games left in the baseball season, I do have a thought about where we're headed in the postseason. So some baseball talk as well.
Covino
I have a thought about the natural, the wonder boy himself. Rest in peace, Robert Redford. We'll get to all next on Covino and Rich, Fox Sports Radio.
Rich
You.

Yeah. Buddy Covino and Rich. Fox Sports Radio, the world famous CNR on fsr. We're live from Fox Sports Radio studios and look at the times. Time for our tire rack play of the day. Another fourth quarter comeback for Baker Mayfield Row. Dude's got heart. Yeah.
Dan Beyer
Mayfield sends it back in motion.
Rich
Hands the ball off for shot white into the end zone. Is he in?
Covino
Is he in?
Rich
Touchdown Tampa Bay. Touchdown. Tampa Bay Buccaneers take the lead at 20 to.
Covino
Yeah.
Rich
That is your Fox Sports radio tire rack play of the day courtesy of 98 Rock. Which wasn't Bubba the Love Sponge on that channel back in the day?
Covino
I don't know. Miguel Cuddy above the Love Sponge. Maybe I'll shoot him a text.
Rich
That was again tire rack play of the day. For 40 years, Tire Rack has been helping customers find the right tires for how, what and where they drive. Chip fast and free. Backed by free road hazard protection. Convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tire rack.com the way tire buying should be.
Covino
Tire rack. Now we're gonna go to your phone calls but a few things coming up. Showtime. Mahomes trivia. Your chance to win some prizes. We got some bribery Balls, some footballs to give away, and we'll talk best baseball. Movies, maybe. Who's the sports movie goat? In tribute to Robert Redford, who passed away at 89 years old. The natural, the wonder boy himself. So stick around. We'll have some more fun here on Cavino and Rich. But Tom Brady. Tom Brady, the wonder boy of football.
Rich
What's up, Mitch?
Covino
Does he need to chill was the question.
Rich
Let's talk to Mitch in Jersey. Hey, Mitch. How we doing, guys?
Covino
Does he ever want to slow it down? Busy. You want to be a broadcaster? Owner. I mean, enough is enough.
Rich
Some people just want to do everything. And I. And I. And I get it, right?
Covino
Yeah. But you start putting a lot on other people when you do that. You know, Rich, you're like, yeah, I do this, I do that, I do this, I do that. The more you do this, now you're putting more on me.
Rich
What am I put on you?
Covino
It's just the truth. You can't do everything. You can't be in two places at once. Something's gonna slip through the cracks. And I imagine that Tom Brady has a team of people that he needs to thank that helps him get by. Look, we're all busy, and we couldn't do it without Danny G, without Spot, without everybody that puts and pulls their weight. So I imagine that's part of that it. But something's going to slip. You can't devote to your family, example, his divorce. You can't devote to the ownership, to the broadcasting, to the flag football, to the TB12. If you're spread out everywhere, you do start spreading yourself thin, something's going to. Something's going to lack. And that might be his relationship with his son, and that may be his role in ownership. Something's going to give.
Danny G
There's a reason we've never seen him in that coach's box before. Because the game's usually on Sunday and he's usually in the broadcast booth.
Covino
Yeah.
Rich
So it's an opportunity for him to just check it out again.
Covino
This conversation's based on a lot of people giving him flack for the conflict of interest, as seen yesterday in the coach's box while he's still broadcasting for Fox. We're not mad at him for that, like, hey, whatever, no conflict, no harm there. But it just brings on the conversation of what's too much. And. And if you really try to psychoanalyze, like, what are you running from, dude? Can you just chill out and, you know, grill a hot dog in your backyard and hang out? Just A reminder, I said this, what, three years ago. Tom Brady hates his family.
Rich
Oh, stop it. You did say that three years ago. I did say it was like his catch line, but let me tell you.
Covino
The indications lean towards that statement. Well, you know what I think it is, too. It's like, it's the story of watching the wheels. John Lennon, it's a famous song. He's just sitting there watching the wheels go around because he was bored, because he was riding his high with the Beatles all those years. And then when he sat down, he had nothing to do but write some boring songs. So it's like when you're always on the move and always on the go. And even we felt that at a smaller level. We've been so busy at some points in our life that when it does slow down, you're just bored and you don't know what to do with yourself. Dude.
Rich
We fill in for Dan Patrick by lunchtime. Cavino's like, what do I do?
Covino
Yeah, no, so I understand. But I think people need to also learn how to chill out a little bit. You know who's enjoying their later years? Michael Jordan. Have you seen him?
Rich
He's got like hundred million dollar yachts.
Covino
He's traveling around the world. Yeah, he's living life. There's a lot of people, spot wrestlers, musicians, artists, guys that live on the road and live that rock star life. When things slow down, they don't know.
Rich
What to do with the time. I think when you slow down, that's one step closer.
Covino
Tom Brady, he's like, I'm so used to being TB12 and playing football for all these years, and I'm so synonymous with the football. I don't know how to just chill out. So he just fills up his time. Do you think he stands on the balcony of his really expensive home and just yells out into nothingness, saying, who am I? And by the way, this is no criticism. He's killing it. He's slaying it in everything he does. But my point is he's got a lot of help. I think in a regular life, if you're living that, things are going to slip through the cracks. You know what? I'll take all his money and travel so he can go back to work and earn it back again.
Rich
Yeah, but I mean, I think some people find no joy in sitting around.
Covino
And some people are better at juggling a lot of things than others, so.
Rich
All right, well, hey, let's shift our attention for a minute because coming up, I do want to talk a little baseball Danny G. I feel like you and I, if all goes according to plan, are going to hate each other in a couple of weeks. Yeah, because it looks like round one of the playoffs as of now would be Mets at Dodgers in the wild card.
Covino
What do you compete for? Who stinks the most?
Rich
You know what? Hey, don't speak so loudly there. Yankees lost to the Twins yesterday.
Covino
They don't stink as bad as the.
Rich
Dodgers, but I think the Mets are about to. Lately the Mets might tear off 10 of the final 12 and it might be because of Juan Soto's new dreadlocks. Did you see this? His new his new look like he just got back from vacation. We're going to talk some baseball next. And of course NFL all here Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. Hang tight.

Host: Covino & Rich

This episode of Covino & Rich centers on the latest NFL action, with spirited takes on Monday Night Football’s double-header format, Baker Mayfield’s performance, and—most notably—Tom Brady’s increasingly public, multi-faceted post-retirement hustle. The hosts debate whether Brady’s endless activities constitute ambition or a lack of chill, while also weaving in their signature banter, sports pop culture references, and listener engagement.
On Mayfield's Grit:
“He just plays to win. He’s not the best at anything, but you know that he’s going to give you his all.”
— Covino (05:30)
The Double Monday Night Game Debate:
“If it’s a game that would have been buried at one o’ clock anyway… put it on Monday night in double header fashion. If you’re a football fanatic, you watch both. If not, no harm, no foul.”
— Rich (17:05)
On Brady’s Endless Hustle:
“Tom Brady just needs to chill a little bit… He’s doing flag football in Abu Dhabi, the box with the Raiders. He’s got Tiger’s blood.”
— Rich & Covino (18:15–18:42)
Calendar Philosophy:
“There’s two types of people… people that like dots on the calendar and people that want an empty calendar. Covino looks at a weekend and says, ‘No dots? Perfect!’… I want to do things.”
— Rich (23:09)
On Overcommitting:
“You ever heard the expression ‘narrow focus, broader results’? When your head is everywhere, you’re losing focus.”
— Covino (24:49)
Conflict of Interest Reaction:
“No one has said that. The dude’s always, like, up to something… does this guy ever take a break?”
— Covino (36:09)
The Covino & Rich show is jokey, fast-paced, and self-deprecating with cultural riffs and inside jokes. The tone is irreverent but insightful—a friendly barroom debate style on sports topics. The Tom Brady segment, in particular, morphs from NFL controversy to existential musings about work, ambition, and the dangers of spreading oneself too thin.
| Timestamp | Topic | Main Point | |-----------|--------------------------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 04:47–08:16 | Baker Mayfield’s Heart | Celebrating Mayfield’s grit and a Rams “reminder” game | | 13:24–17:05 | NFL Double Header on Mondays | Is it overkill or more exposure?
