Steve Covino
That's right. For free. And send it to a friend. I want to welcome the greatest producer in all the land, Danny G. He's on the phones 87799 on Fox. He has the nervous farts because his Raiders played tonight. But it's Pete Carroll's birthday. It's his 74th birthday. I think they're playing for Pete.
Rich Davis
Happy birthday. Did you see that? The story where Pete Carroll, when he introduced himself to the team, he came out like a WWE wrestler.
Steve Covino
Yes.
Rich Davis
Kicked over a dry erase board. Yes. And he, and he had, he had like, like almost a, like a macho.
Steve Covino
Man, old school speech But I call this a do it for Johnny. Do it for Jack Petey. They're doing it for Petey because he's old. How many more birthdays this guy has? I hope. I mean, I hope a lot more, too, but let's be realistic.
Rich Davis
Give him 20.
Steve Covino
I hope everyone counts as my point. Yeah, I'm not wishing anything bad on him. He's extremely healthy and he looks great, but he's old. So they're playing hard for Petey tonight against the Chargers. I also want to welcome the guy who's smiling extra wide because, well, his Lions were dominant this weekend, but maybe the Bears just stink every time they touch up.
Rich Davis
Perfect. They score. What's up? Both.
Danny G
Both things can be true. The Bears can stink in the. And the Lions.
Steve Covino
The Bears might be ass. I'm not sure.
Danny G
Oh, boy.
Rich Davis
You know, Prefet, I think the Lions, because they had a rough week one against the. The packers, everyone was very quick to, like, sort of move them down the power rankings in their mind. But, yo, yesterday you're like, oh, yeah, the lines are pretty freaking good.
Danny G
They're pretty good.
Rich Davis
I.
Danny G
In flipping that on its head, there was a lot of ink spill the last week or so. It was like, oh, can Jared Goff be good without. Let me ask something. Can Ben Johnson be good without Jared Goff?
Rich Davis
Ooh, you flipped the script there. And you know Jared Goff, when it gets to things that made you go, which is how we kick off every Monday, Covino and Rich, I'm going to have written down right here, Jared Goff defending the Ben Johnson chance.
Steve Covino
Is that why you're rocking the Honolulu blue today?
Rich Davis
You know you're Team Goff.
Steve Covino
Rich is rocking the blue today. And by the way, I want to welcome Dan Byer to the show grand.
Rich Davis
Program, who also has a smile because that was the one game I got wrong. I picked the Steelers. I apologize. You're Seahawk.
Steve Covino
Yes.
Dan Byer
You didn't probably plan for a botched kickoff, but that changed the.
Rich Davis
The.
Dan Byer
The tone of the game.
Rich Davis
Everything.
Dan Byer
Yes.
Steve Covino
And it's all about setting the tone, and that wasn't a good one. So congrats to Dan. Seahawks. Hope he had a Seahawks sort of weekend. And that brings us to what Rich already said, something we do every Monday called things that made you go home.
Danny G
Things that make you go.
Rich Davis
Things that make you go.
Steve Covino
Now, before we dive into other BAS nonsense and everything else that's going on.
Rich Davis
In sports entertainment, 12 games left in Major League Baseball. So we are going to touch on a little baseball today. Don't you worry.
Steve Covino
It is everything that you observed over the weekend in entertainment, but football mostly, things that made you scratch your noggin, things that made you go, hmm, your observations, we get you involved. We break it down every Monday here on the show. So write this down and be part of it. 87799 on Fox. That's our number. Danny G's on standby, waiting just to say hi. 87799 on Fox. And everything at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. Your observations. Let's get into it.
Rich Davis
Can I start?
Steve Covino
Let's go.
Rich Davis
I think that Giants fans, Giants front office members, Giants coaching, everyone, everyone should thank Russell Wilson because by performing the way he did, even in a loss, they are now in a position where they don't have to jump the gun and ruin Jackson Dart the way they ruined Daniel Jones. Because if Russ had a stinker yesterday and Russ wasn't bringing it, then there would have been more and more like, come on, Jackson dart, Jackson dart. And they would have rushed them. And you saw what happened when they rushed Daniel Jones. You saw what happened when the jets rushed Zach Wilson. You see what happens when these teams rush players. And I think the longer Russ could show that, yeah, I'm, I'm the guy for now, it gives Jackson Dart more time to sit, chill, learn. And by having an almost 500 yard day throwing like he throwing dimes to Malik Neighbors and really just having that winning old school Russ attitude like foul youth.
Steve Covino
So credit to Neighbors for just finding the ball. He has a great ability to do that, jump up and get it. But Wilson, 450 yards, undeniably great. Three touchdowns and the unfortunate pick at the end. But I don't think anyone is talking smack about Russell Wilson and his performance this past weekend.
Rich Davis
But I'm telling you, they had that.
Steve Covino
Game in the bag.
Rich Davis
The underlying, the underlying message there was, all right, they could stick with Russ longer.
Steve Covino
No, absolutely. He's solid.
Rich Davis
And I think that gives, you know, because our Giant fans now saying, come on, put dart in there, that narrative gets paused big time.
Steve Covino
That pick was unfortunate. Neighbors celebrating a little prematurely, also bad look, but he also had a great game. They got some great potential with the Giants. They looked a lot better this week. That's the positive there. So three touchdowns from Wilson, 167 yards from neighbors, two touchdowns for him. But the Cowboys pulled it out at the end in overtime, 40, 37. So rich is right. Biggest observation there is Russell Wilson looks good enough. He looked great this weekend, but good enough to stick around.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
Give some breathing Room.
Rich Davis
So there's no. There's no urgency. There's no like. There's no like, man, he's over the hill. You got to get dart or someone in there. That narrative could be shut down for weeks. I think right.
Steve Covino
Still has some game left. Neighbors is the guy which. Exactly what I had written down.
Rich Davis
You know what this does? You know me. I'm always schedule watching. This lines up a really interesting primetime game next week.
Steve Covino
You're always ass watching. Who are you kidding?
Rich Davis
And you.
Steve Covino
That is true booty gazing. I see Rich at the gym. He's not watching the game. He's watching the cheeks on the treadmill.
Rich Davis
How do you get inspired? No, but next week, if you want to look ahead to Week 3, the NFL, this is a game that, you know, looking back, you'd be like, yeah, this is sort of a throwaway game. Why are they making this prime time? But Sunday night Football. Chiefs at Giants next week. Two. 02 teams. The Giants expectedly own two. The Chiefs, Owen two, playing with desperation. But Russ coming off of that big game, I think that's going to be really interesting. I really do.
Steve Covino
Well, the Chiefs are kind of looking buns, as they say right now. And it's not just zero and two. I think.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
It's own three if you figure in last season. And that's a first for Mahomes. So there is some desperation or some urgency to wait and turn it around.
Rich Davis
If you haven't seen it yet.
Steve Covino
But can I. Can I tell you an observation?
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
It's not on Mahomes. No. You know, he still got that magic in him. He's still making these cool Mahomes like plays. He hit Kelsey right in the numbers. Kelsey's head didn't turn around fast enough to make that play. If he did, it would have been a different game. But it's not on Mahomes. It's. It's like little things that used to go their way just aren't. And that's three in a row for them when you factor in last year. So I think a little urgency to beat the Giants next week.
Rich Davis
If you haven't seen it yet, if you have, you can still play along. But point spread for next Sunday night. Where's your instinct? Without looking who was favored and by how much? Chiefs at Giants.
Steve Covino
Chiefs favored. Chiefs at Giants. Right. Chiefs favored. Going to MetLife, I'd say by just by a touchdown, you're close.
Rich Davis
Six and a half. Do you like the Chiefs putting a whooping on the Giants or do you feel like the Chiefs woes continue and it's a close game.
Steve Covino
They'll turn the corner. I don't think they're done by any means.
Rich Davis
Oh, no, but I'm saying, like, they.
Steve Covino
Played, you know, some tough games.
Rich Davis
This is like an urgent statement game.
Steve Covino
Well, they don't want to start owing three.
Rich Davis
No, but I'm saying, do. Will they. Do they beat the Giants or do they.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Rich Davis
How the Giants.
Steve Covino
No, I think they beat him just by, like a touchdown, maybe 10 points. Okay. That's what I think.
Rich Davis
Thought it was an interesting line coming out. I'm like, oh, I wonder what it's going to be. I wasn't sure, to be honest. Like, I.
Steve Covino
But the Giants don't stink. I think that's what we got out of this game because it was a really. Even Danny G. Was like, yo, man, you watching this game? It was an exciting game. Giants, Cowboys, Giants. Always tough against the Cowboys. It was a good one.
Rob Parker
You don't forget to give Aubrey a lot of credit. What? First kicker to ever kick one to send the game into overtime and then get the kick to win the game.
Steve Covino
And speaking of kickers, I think it's interesting to see that the Colts are two. And, oh, here with Daniel Jones before, when it came to rushing quarterbacks, it seems like everything's working out for this guy right now, and that's what a change of scenery could do. You know, Was he always a decent player with great potential? Probably, but he was thrown out there with a team that stinks. Now he's in a different scene, a different setting. He's thriving. He's throwing dimes and he's getting lucky breaks, and that's kind of what happened against Denver this weekend.
Rich Davis
I know it's so early, but Dan Byers, your instinct that that Denver loss, which for 20 seconds we thought was a win, could that play a factor in the postseason? And we look back and be like, yo, you remember, like, week two when Denver had the win, that that penalty could be big?
Dan Byer
It could be because that's a game that, if you're Denver, you look on the schedule that you go and win? I think it could be doubly big because of the AFC south here. The Colts are sitting there at 2, and, oh, granted, they started with two home games, but win against the Broncos wasn't maybe in their cards. Daniel Jones has lived up to everything that he hasn't been in the past so far. And so now we don't know how good the Texans are. Jaguars, we think are okay, but maybe there's some Flaws. And Tennessee's got some growing pains. So the Colts right there. So rich. It may be doubly to the point of not only with the Broncos, but it could really help the Colts, especially when it comes to the AFC South.
Steve Covino
No doubt.
Rich Davis
And when you look at how Bronco fans are probably thinking we could have been two games up on the Chiefs. We could have been two. And oh, they would have been owing to.
Steve Covino
We would have had shame on them, though, dude. They didn't score in the fourth quarter at all. So you could say it all came down to that.
Dan Byer
Yeah, I missed a 42 yard field goal off the upright.
Steve Covino
But if you're not scoring, then that's on them to be in that position in the first place. And I'm so proud of you. He said growing pains. And you didn't make an Alan Thicke reference. I'm shocked.
Rich Davis
To your room, Ben.
Steve Covino
I'm shocked.
Rich Davis
Maggie.
Steve Covino
No Mike Seaver boner reference. So the Colts. I just think that Daniel Jones has a different, as the kiddos say, aura about him with this new squad. And they're getting calls that they never seemed or he never seemed to get before.
Dan Byer
And like Ben Siever, he does his best work under pressure. Daniel Jones, I've said that. Always that project being done.
Steve Covino
That's right.
Dan Byer
Jeez.
Steve Covino
Dr. Jason Seaver will send you to the your to your room. So the colts over the Broncos 29, 28. Definitely stood out because you're like, wow, that was a weird ending.
Rich Davis
I was like, daniel Jones, show me that smile again now.
Steve Covino
I had this written down too. Rich sort of touched on it already when we talked about Perfect's Lions. If the Lions turned our perception around in one week, is it safe to say the Bears might be ass? Like, are they in the ass category or would you still say the Dolphins are more of the ass team in the league right now?
Rich Davis
I think there's a few teams that just they were hoping for. Oh, maybe. Maybe like I think the Bears and Dolphins are in the same category of like there was maybe like, oh, maybe. Maybe this is the year we turn things around. Or like I think the Bears thought maybe they'd get it going this year and Owen 2 is not a great start, especially when you're in a division where.
Steve Covino
But it's how they lost 52, 21. Right. I mean, might be ass. I thought they'd put up a bigger fight there, but maybe the Lions were playing extra hard to show that they still are the team to be reckoned with. I don't know. But I Had that written down. Bears might be ass.
Rich Davis
I think during the highlights, I heard like, you know, Tom Brady and Burkhardt joking, like, yeah, you say, you say you want to be a head coach, huh? You know, Ben Johnson, sitting pretty running that offense in Detroit. You know, you take on a head coaching job, like, man, you could have all the schemes and all the, all the know how and all the plays that you want, but if the personnel is not there and you're just playing better teams at the National Football League level, it's not automatic. It's not like you just go in and win. You've seen great coaches go in and not win.
Steve Covino
So something else I had here. And by the way, this is where we open it up to you. Fox Sports Radio Nation. Things that made you go, your observations from this weekend in the world of football or whatever it is you were doing, watching just anything you observed, things that made you go, hmm. I thought it was kind of cool that the Ravens looked dominant, had an unproductive day from Henry and were still able to score 41 points. He had 23 yards.
Rich Davis
I have another observation as far as stars not being that productive. Buffalo Bills put a whooping on the jets, but not from an offensive, putting up big numbers because Covino is about to be out of the Guillotine league.
Steve Covino
Here because I, yeah, I'm riding on Josh Allen.
Rich Davis
Bills heavy.
Steve Covino
And they're very Bills heavy. They had a bad week, but that's, that's the point. Like, you could have a bad week and still win. That says a lot about your team. Derek Henry had 11 carries for 23 yards and they still dominated the Browns. I mean, I get it, it's the Browns, but your main dude could be off.
Rich Davis
You just find ways to win and.
Steve Covino
You still find ways to win in dominant fashion. Got to give props to the Ravens. And by the way, I heard a stat before the show that Flacco had beaten every team in the league except for somebody and the Ravens. So it could have been one more notch closer to doing that. I think that's a fun accomplishment to say you beat every team.
Rich Davis
When you hear, when you hear like a home run hitter is like he's hit a home run and stadium except. And you're like, really? That stadium?
Steve Covino
And I knew, yeah, it was, it was only two teams that he hadn't beaten. Ravens, one of them. And for obvious reasons, he played there and didn't get that many chances. I knew there was no chance. I was like, yeah, well, it's not happening. Not happening. So good Luck, but Derek Henry off, but the team's still on. I think that's a good look.
Rich Davis
I think tonight, I know it's not a thing that maybe go hmm, because it didn't happen yet. But tonight should be interesting because the Raiders and Chargers both sit at one and oh, and while conventional wisdom and most people will be like, yeah, yeah, tonight it's, you know, Chargers are going in there as only three and a half point favorites because I feel there is a sense of like, well, it is in Vegas and last week Pete Carroll had that team pretty fired up and they look better than some thought. But whoever wins tonight is two games up on the Chiefs.
Steve Covino
I think we might be underestimating the Raiders. I really do. Geno Smith looks so good. He's so talented. With Pete Carroll maybe are. Maybe they're just way better than we're realizing and I'm excited to see that.
Rich Davis
And I think you got to remember Harbaugh and Pete Carroll. Very reminiscent of damn buyer. Our Seahawks, Niners days. The two coaches are just now in the afc.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Dan Byer
Yeah. They asked pretty cool Carroll about you have any fond memories?
Steve Covino
I saw that. It was awkward.
Dan Byer
But there were some great memories. I mean there are some not so good.
Steve Covino
Not one kind thing to say about their rivalry. It was just like, oh, we've had some good games against each other.
Dan Byer
I think he didn't want to be disrespectful and say the NFC championship game on the tipped Kaepernick pass, but that would obviously be a highlight as well.
Rich Davis
Yeah. My favorite was when Crabtree was called out by Richard Sherman in embarrassing fashion. That's a great memory.
Steve Covino
It was an awkward moment for sure.
Rich Davis
That was, you know, two coaches, you know, that coaching rivalry continues tonight.
Dan Byer
Yeah, you know, that was the. That what's your deal? That was also the usc, Stanford going back to that rivalry.
Steve Covino
Oh, speaking of the Raiders, I don't know if you saw this. This is like a little side nugget, but it made me say sort of ties in. Tom Brady said that he was going to make an announcement today or tonight. Made me think of it because of his Raiders deal.
Rob Parker
Yeah, he said something he's been working on for a real long time.
Steve Covino
Some sort of Tom Brady announcement. Is it in the world of coaching, broadcasting, not coaching.
Rich Davis
Probably opening a lot of gyms. Like TB12 gyms.
Steve Covino
I wonder what that is.
Dan Byer
We do have an answer.
Rob Parker
Oh, It's a new TB12 smoothie.
Dan Byer
No, it's.
Danny G
Do I have to breaking news.
Steve Covino
No, no. I thought it was like a Later on tonight, sort of announcement.
Dan Byer
It was. It's. This is what Adam Schefter tweeted seven minutes ago.
Steve Covino
Oh, okay.
Dan Byer
Tom Brady's coming out of retirement, sort of to join a list of NFL stars and others for the fanatics Flag Football Classic, a competitive flag football tournament taking place in Saudi Arabia on March 21st of 2026.
Steve Covino
And his involvement is more than just playing, I would imagine, based on what he said about. He's been working on it for a long time. Yes.
Dan Byer
And so Pete Carroll, Kyle Shanahan, and Sean Payton will be coaching the three teams.
Rich Davis
Wow.
Dan Byer
CD Lamb, Christian McCaffrey going to be a part of it as well.
Steve Covino
That's pretty big.
Rich Davis
I just got to ask, how much money do these sheiks have? You announced the other day, WrestleMania going to Saudi Arabia. You saw over the weekend, we haven't even got to Canelo and Crawford.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but they put on that whole show in Vegas.
Rich Davis
You saw. You saw the chic sitting right there with Mr. Beast ringside like that. We are. You'll follow the money. And the money is all bringing these big sporting events and all these spectacles. Saudi Arabia.
Steve Covino
Yeah. It's really changing the game, by the way. That kind of. What is the announcement? A letdown or. Cool. I'm trying to figure that out.
Dan Byer
I thought it was like we all felt like there was actually something and that this is kind of like a. Oh, that's what it is. Kind of like a gimmick, a marketing sort of.
Steve Covino
Yeah, but you got Tom Brady coming out to play with. I mean, big names, Flag football, kind of a letdown. Yeah, I know. Sounded kind of cool, actually. You never know.
Dan Byer
Positivity.
Steve Covino
It seems today's world. Yeah, but in today's world, everybody loves the goofy spectacle. This is the NFL saying. Yeah, we could do other things outside of actual NFL. Cause some excitement, maybe. I don't know. People love flag football.
Rich Davis
That's true. That's true.
Steve Covino
Don't downplay that.
Rich Davis
It's big. I will listen your feedback, your phone calls. Let's get it rolling. 87799 on Fox. We'll take your feedback next. Your big observations from week two in the National Football League. NFL week two. And of course, just the weekend baseball, the fight.
Steve Covino
Oh, I haven't been brought up. Ken Rosenthal yet.

Giant ice cube.
Steve Covino
By the way, it's a really big ice cube, Rick.
Rich Davis
Yeah, I use one that people use for an old fashioned.
Steve Covino
Oh my God. How do you think we bring it? And if you don't know what we're referencing, you gotta watch the Charlie Sheen documentary on Netflix. And by the way, side note, we are sort of mentioned in that documentary. You see our names, you see the Covino and Rich show. If you watch real closely in episode two, there is a Cavino and Rich pci. They make reference around the height of his popularity in the early 2000s when he was having his crash.
Rich Davis
His crash had Sirius xm, even had a tiger blood radio pop up channel and they show like a SiriusXM player and it says come. You know, on red show.
Steve Covino
Yeah, yeah, episode two, we were the B roll guys.
Rich Davis
We're big and famous.
Steve Covino
That's right. So we're the world famous CNR on fsr. And if you miss any of today's show and you want to catch the podcast? Search Covino and Rich. Wherever you get your podcast, today's show will be up our best of the day, best of the week. Everything's there. Covino and Rich. Wherever you stream, be sure to follow, rate and review. Five stars because anything less is uncivilized. So I'm Covino, that is Rich, Danny G. Perfett, Dan Beyer are here and we're in the middle of things that made you go hmm this weekend in the world of football, in the world of life and sports and everything else. So any observation you made we go to the phones at 87799 on Fox.
Rich Davis
Um, my 49ers, I feel like I can't lie and be like this exciting lead story but you know they snuck by the Saints which is what they needed to do without a healthy Brock Purdy. And Mac Jones proved I think that he is a suitable backup for sure. I would, I would argue that Mac Jones is a top tier backup in the National Football League and Juan Jennings, you know he's trying to show that he's worth the money. So big game from him. McCaffrey not the biggest game running but the 49ers move the ball enough to beat the Saints and I think a very interesting matchup will be next week. Again you know I'm always schedule watching Niners home opener against the Cardinals but you're looking at another Mac Jones game and right now Vegas has it at like Arizona by one. So I think that's an interesting important game.
Rob Parker
Week three, Saturday night when we were at Covino's for the big fight we were laughing because DraftKings put out a post. Rich, they got us hyped for your Niners. They said Mac Jones vs. Spencer Rattler might be the worst football game ever played.
Steve Covino
That's right. Yeah, I like both those guys build up that you we signed up for but you'll be tuning in so that's funny man. Now speaking of Danny, we're going to talk more about the fight because there's some observations there.
Rich Davis
I have another observation if you don't mind.
Steve Covino
Sure.
Rich Davis
The team that me and Dan Buyer as Niners and Seahawks fans can't look past, not the Cardinals, the Rams. Is it the rebirth of Devonte Adams because maybe we all thought he didn't have this much gas left in the tank. Maybe in this setup with him and Puking the kua, is that arguably one of your better receiving cores in the NFL?
Dan Byer
I think by name it is. I just don't know. They got past The Texans, and I don't know how much of a fight Tennessee is going to. They seem to hang with them for about three quarters, but the Rams end up pulling away. I think ultimately it will. But I think what the Seahawks and Niners did in Week one and then the Seahawks winning in Pittsburgh and just the Niners win in Seattle is proven more. Where the Cardinals. You couldn't have picked an easier start to the schedule. Saints, Panthers. And they almost let yesterday get away.
Rich Davis
I was. Trust me. I'm sure the same with you. I was rooting. I was rooting. I was like, come on, Panthers.
Dan Byer
I had the Cardinals in a survivor league, so I was actually rooting just for the Cardinals to end it. And they couldn't. They couldn't do it for that reason. It was. Yeah, it was crazy how Carolina got into the game. So I still think that there's something for the Rams to prove, and I still think that there's something for the Cardinals to prove in that division.
Rich Davis
Dan, not to. Not to overreact, because again, it's two weeks of National Football League play.
Steve Covino
It's not. I got to make this point clear. It's not overreacting, because I feel that way, too sometimes. It's reacting with. To what we got.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Reacting with what we have. And I think next week. I already said there's a few telling.
Steve Covino
Games, because there are times I feel other people are overreacting. I just want to make it clear.
Rich Davis
That we're just reacting.
Steve Covino
Yeah, that's it.
Rich Davis
But a telling game. Week three, if you want to go by that the Rams are playing the Eagles and that, I think that is a. An early test of. All right, well, where is this Rams team at? Right? I mean, if you play the Eagles, like, if you hang with the Eagles and it's like, oh, maybe they are. All right, but if the Eagles win, you know, you know, 31, 13, then all of a sudden it's like, all right, the. The Rams are not in that league, you know.
Dan Byer
Yeah, I think that's. I think that's a fair point. And then if the Rams do compete or actually win, then I think we're going to be having questions about the Eagles and. Because they will look at their three games and be like, okay, two and one. But really, what do we see here?
Rich Davis
Vegas has given the Rams a little credit. If you ask me. Eagles are at home. And I know there's some already people saying, how is that not your late afternoon primetime Fox game? It's an early game. It's an early game. In Philly and the Eagles are favored by three and a half. Blindly, I would have guessed six and a half maybe, but three and a half Eagles, they're giving the Rams some credit there, huh?
Dan Byer
Yeah. And that two and a half to three and a half is a big deal obviously. But yeah, I thought it would maybe be Philadelphia by a little bit more. Maybe not as much as you, but not the three and a half.
Steve Covino
So a few years ago, Rich, I remember talking to you probably here on Fox Sports radio about high ankle sprains. Like, hey, when did this become such a thing?
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
And it seems like this year is all about turf toe.
Rich Davis
Oh yeah, it's the year of the turf toe.
Steve Covino
It is turf toe with your boy Brock Purdy and now turf toe with Joe Burrow. We tried to explain this when we discussed Brock Purdy, but I further investigated myself because I'm like, well, how serious is this now that Joe Burrow is suffering from it?
Rich Davis
You explained it pretty well earlier.
Steve Covino
I did. Because here's the misconception. The misconception is it's something that's highly painful, yet sounds playful. Right? Like turf toe doesn't sound like anything major.
Rich Davis
It sounds like rug burn or something.
Steve Covino
Doesn't match the severity. Yeah, it sounds to you like he subsist toe on the, on the turf and now it's a little swollen. But the way it was described is if you take your thumb and bend it all the way back. If you take your thumb and bend it all the way back to the point where it snaps, that's what turf.
Rich Davis
Toe is, extension of the big toe.
Steve Covino
So it's their big toe extending so far back that is snapped. And that severity of the snap could differ, you know, with each player and with each moment.
Rich Davis
It could be a Brock Purdy couple.
Steve Covino
Weeks or the pain is so stabbing and so severe that's hard to walk on. And it's like. It's like a knife digging into your toenails, like underneath your toe.
Rich Davis
And Cavino, to back up what you said, I feel like turf toe is one of those things that NFL fans just like, yeah, yeah, yeah, turf toe. I think without that explanation, I don't know if every, even hardcore fans know that. Again, that's the best explanation. It's like pulling your thumb back so.
Steve Covino
Far in a direction it's not supposed to go all the way back until his snaps. And he's expected to miss what, three, maybe three months. Three months I'm hearing.
Rich Davis
And again, depending on the severity, depending.
Steve Covino
On how much was snapped and snipped in that area.
Rich Davis
It could be a Brock Purdy couple weeks or it could be a burrow three months. Dan Byers that's sort of right according to what you've done.
Dan Byer
I'll tell you what, let's quick do this because I got some sound from Zach Taylor to kind of tell you a little bit about what's going on. Perfect because there's a bunch of quarterback injury news to get to. So Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow out three months. We believe Zach Taylor is saying they expect him that he will likely need surgery. As for what's going to happen in the message to the team at this point, we're two and oh and we've got a lot of good energy right now. There's a lot of things that we can clean up with our football team to be better going forward. We have not put our best foot forward forward yet and so that's what's exciting is that we found a way to be 20 right now and we still haven't even played our best best football collectively. Minimum of three months is what all the reports have said.
Steve Covino
I'm seeing here on Yahoo Sports stand that the injury appears to be because like we were saying, it's like levels of severity and pain tolerance I'm sure has something to do with it too. But very, very bad case for joe33.
Dan Byer
Was the initial report last night and that's worse than grades two and grade one.
Steve Covino
Yeah, that sucks.
Dan Byer
Not the only quarterback injured. J.J. mcCarthy has a high ankle sprain. Kevin O' Connell says that he will likely miss their week three matchup with the Bengals. So you got Jake Browning against Carson Wentz coming up this Sunday.
Rich Davis
Wow.
Dan Byer
Yes. McCarthy suffering that injury last night against the Falcons. Two to four weeks or what? Reports are saying that McCarthy could end up missing. As for Commanders quarterback Jaden Daniels, he's got a sprained knee. Head coach Dan Quinn calling him day to day, couldn't give him an idea of what is happening with that knee injury until Wednesday, at least at the earliest. But there's a chance he misses their game against Danny's Raiders. Coming up on Sunday, jets quarterback Justin Fields in concussion protocol. They're in Tampa on Sunday to face the Buccaneers. Tampa. Tonight's in Houston to take on the Texans. Well, Danny's Raiders and Chargers kick off at 10:00 Eastern Time tonight and a couple of more injuries. Bears have likely lost corner Jalen Johnson for the regular season, needing surgery for a groin injury. Is that why you're wincing Cavino? Yeah, nobody wants to talk about groin surgery. And Cowboys center Cooper Beebe is going to miss six to eight weeks with a high ankle sprain. They've placed him on IR and officially announced the signing of Jadevian Clowney. Finally, San Francisco Giants calling up top prospect 20 year old first baseman Bryce Eldridge with two weeks left in the season as they're trying to track down your Mets Rich Giants currently game and a half back of New York for the final wild card but just a game back in the loss column.
Rich Davis
So thank you by the way, Danny and your Dodgers took the two out of three from the Giants this weekend, kept the Mets and finally the Mets won. Pete Alonso, you saw the walk off and he said he felt like he was a flying on a dragon's back. That's how he described his walk off. Pete's an interesting guy. I love Pete Alonso. Thank you D.B.
Steve Covino
Thank you Dan Buyer.
Rich Davis
You know, we've talked about the importance of backup quarterbacks and I think that might be in the category for me of things that made me go because we're in week two and yo, it's like they said in A Christmas story, fragile quarterbacks, you could argue the size and strength and speed of defenders. Now it's a different game. Everyone's a little mobile, more opportunities for a little bang ups and high ankle sprains, turf toe shoulders. Like every, every team you feel like at some point of the season someone gets banged up. So the importance of that backup quarterback.
Steve Covino
Danny, even this weekend you saw Josh Allen got hurt with his nose and they had to put him to the side. You saw Trubisky get right in there and he starts throwing dimes and start playing, starts playing big. These dudes are way more important. Have to be ready at all times. You're right.
Rich Davis
Interestingly enough, enough Danny, for your Raiders tonight. I know it's, I'm not saying by no means it's week two, I'm not saying must win. But if you somehow at home sneak past the Chargers, you have a Jaden Daniels list commanders next week. Which, which I mean talk about like what could be an early gift for the Raiders schedule.
Rob Parker
Yeah, I'm trying not to think maybe. Yeah, maybe, maybe because Rich, I'm used to the season starting off really, really tough and for them to slide into a season three and oh, that would be amazing. Well, hey, probably not going to happen though.
Rich Davis
Your observations, your thoughts as we continue talking about week one of the NFL. We'll take your feedback next at 87799 on Fox. We got more next right Here on Covino and Rich.

Steve Covino, rich Davis, Danny G. Spot on the videos. Remember we're streaming our video now. It's like a TV show. You get to see Dan Byer do his professional updates in the flesh. All that Covino Enrich FSR on YouTube. Covino Enrich FSR. To me, as a radio fan, a kid that grew up listening to radio loving radio.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Steve Covino
The fact that we throw to a news guy and the fact you get to see that, I think it's so cool because remember growing up, we didn't see all this interaction. You used to have to use your imagination to picture what that smooth, buttery voice sounded like.
Rich Davis
Like when Howard Stern would throw it to Ross Buckingham. Yeah.
Steve Covino
I'd be like, who is that guy? And you couldn't just get on the Internet and find them. You know, you could actually watch everything that goes on at Covino Enrich FSR on YouTube. And now it's time for the tire rack play of the day. A lot of grumbling about the false starts that were visible during the game. Winning push to Tush push. That is pushy, pushy.
Rich Davis
Three, two, one. It's over. The Philadelphia Eagles at two.
Steve Covino
And oh.
Rich Davis
As they defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 20 to 17.
Steve Covino
The tush push was all the difference, huh?
Rich Davis
Yeah. Some people are now, you know, I know it comes up every year, but I don't know, there are times they use it where I am thinking it's like, well, that's sort of like not cheap. Cheap's the wrong word. How would you describe it, Danny?
Rob Parker
People that don't like it say it's not a football play. Yeah, it's more like rugby. It's not NFL football.
Steve Covino
Safety issues involved. Meanwhile, you got people running full speed during kickoffs, you know, toward each other. It's football, dude.
Rob Parker
It might not look in slow motion. I think what. I think what they were trying to get at it then. Comments I was reading last night, you could see both guards moving early. Every time they slow it down, you could see movement on the line. But because some of the offsides or the early jumping is going in unison between two of the players on the line, it's not called by the ref. So there's a lot of upset. Kansas City Chiefs fans to.
Steve Covino
So 20 to 10, courtesy of the Tush Push. That's your tire rack play of the day, courtesy of WIP Eagles Radio network. And for over 40 years, Tire Rack has been helping customers find the right tires for how, what and where you drive ship fast and free, backed by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, tire rack.com way Tire buying should be. So we're still going over week two observations. We haven't even touched on the fight yet.
Rich Davis
I know. What's up, db I was just going.
Dan Byer
To say, you know, that it could be a problem with officiating when people are saying that the Chiefs aren't getting calls. So that's when you know, and hey, maybe there is something here. People are saying, hey, give Kansas City a break.
Danny G
You want to talk?
Rich Davis
Oh, sorry.
Dan Byer
No, I was just going to say, because what's been the narrative for the last five years? Yes, absolutely.
Danny G
Well, not only that, they've had their tackles constantly lining up in the neutral zone for years. That has been a constant problem with the Chiefs. But did you guys see what Chris Jones said to Josh? I mean, Jalen hurts.
Rich Davis
Yeah, that was the thing that made me go home. He talks of smack and then you.
Danny G
Don'T even have 100 yards in this game. He's like, we won the Game. Shut your.
Rich Davis
Yeah, I thought that was great.
Steve Covino
I thought it was cool.
Rich Davis
I thought. Another great observation was in the Jags Bengals game. Let's just say an adult toy was thrown on the field, and CBS thought it was a flag. So the. So the yellow flag came up like, wait a minute, there might be a flag on the plate. No, it was just a yellow adult toy.
Steve Covino
Yellow adult toy? What could it be?
Rich Davis
Oh, Hungry Hungry Hippos.
Steve Covino
What did they throw out?
Rich Davis
Glow Worm?
Steve Covino
It was a wiffle bat, I think. Yeah, but. Yeah, they thought it was a flag. That was kind of funny. It made me say. Hmm.
Rich Davis
But the tush push itself. You're right there. There's something that I don't think we'll ever all agree on it, because again, you're right. It's like, then figure out how to block it. Then everyone would do it. But Tom Brady said it's a silly observation, but he goes. It's like the. The Eagles have first and nine every time because one yard they'll always be able to get. So he goes, the Eagles start every possession first because if it's third and one or fourth and one, they're going to go for it and get it.
Steve Covino
So, dude, is there's not a rule that says only the Eagles could do it.
Rich Davis
I know.
Steve Covino
So, I mean, but what you would.
Rich Davis
Think, like, has anyone else effectively tried to do it? It's not like they have just ridiculously different personnel that is designed for this.
Steve Covino
We've seen other teams do it, just not with the same success. So that's on them and other observations. You know who continues to make you scratch your head, make you say, Mike McDaniel. We mentioned about the Dolphins being asked, but once again, this guy hits the podium and he's almost at a loss for words. Where it almost seems concerning.
Rich Davis
It's. It's uncomfortable.
Mike McDaniel
To win games, you have to win the game, not lose the game honestly. And that. That is how you lose the game. You're moving the. You're moving the ball down the field. You're first and 10, and then you find yourself at second and 20.
Steve Covino
Wait a second. To win the game, you need to win the game.
Rich Davis
Yeah, I mean, not lose the game again. It's his.
Steve Covino
You don't say.
Rich Davis
It's his drive. Sarcasm. That's not sarcasm. No. In losing doesn't translate. I promise you.
Steve Covino
That's only second to that woman on that podcast that went viral that said, love your job, don't love your job, job your love.
Rich Davis
That's it. And then the other Person goes, I love that.
Steve Covino
Don't love. Guys, guys. I don't know if you've ever heard this before, but if you're having a tough Monday, I gotta tell you something a friend once told me. Don't love your job. Job. Your love.
Danny G
I have to file a W2 every time I go on a date.
Jonas Knox
Job.
Steve Covino
That's what he's saying here. He's saying gibberish. Play that one more time. So you get. Listen to this pile of nonsense.
Mike McDaniel
To win games, you have to win the game, not lose the game.
Danny G
Thanks, John.
Steve Covino
And that boom.
Mike McDaniel
That is how you lose the game. You're moving the. You're moving the ball down the field. You're first and 10, and then you find yourself at second and 20.
Danny G
To win the game, you have to score more points than the other team.
Rich Davis
Win the game. But I get. You have to win the game. It's his.
Steve Covino
Not lose the game, game. Honestly.
Rich Davis
It's his sarcastic, tried delivery that doesn't translate when you're losing.
Steve Covino
That. There's too much of that lately. I don't know if it's, like you said, a misinterpretation because they're losing.
Rich Davis
Yes.
Steve Covino
Or is he just full of nothing right now?
Rob Parker
Yeah, sarcasm would be if he's trying to be funny, which we've seen that in the past with him where he's kind of funny, but lately he's just rambling.
Steve Covino
Yeah. Is this him being dry like Rich says, or is this him, like in a. Concerning.
Rich Davis
To win the game, you got to win the game. You can't be first and 10 and then second and 20. He's sarcastically saying, like, how are we going to win the game if, you know, we start the ball first and 10 and then second and 20, third and 25.
Dan Byer
That's how I took it.
Rich Davis
I took it as like, again, I said it last week and I.
Steve Covino
Nonsense.
Rich Davis
I stick by what I said last week. Mike McDaniel is a really interesting, funny, sarcastic guy when you're winning. That shtick is funny when the reporter tries to talk to him and he jogs ahead of them, jokingly going to the tunnel when they're losing it. That does not translate, by the way.
Rob Parker
I feel bad for Dolphins fans. Did you see hn his foot touch the out of bounds line? Had that not happened, the Dolphins would have wound up winning that game.
Rich Davis
And Danny, you know what it's like. I'll give you the analogy for McDaniel. I think I can make it clear, you know, when you're in a disagreement or spat with your wife or girlfriend your, like, when it's not the time to be funny. And some guys don't know how to not do that. Like, I, I'm, I've always accused of going for the cheap joker punchline even in the middle of a serious moment. It's and, and I think Mike McDaniel just doesn't know how to turn that part off where it's like, dude, you're about to lose your job and your team's 0 and 2 and he's still like, well, you win the game, you.
Steve Covino
Got to win the game. What's going on? I, I give you a high five for pointing it out to make it clear because that's not my interpretation of it, but it makes sense. So it just gives me a different perspective.
Rich Davis
It's like your wife being like, be serious and you and you CR yeah's not the time.
Steve Covino
I think it's still coming across weird.
Rich Davis
Yeah. Agreed. Agreed. So, hey, we'll wrap up all your observations. We will talk a little baseball. We got 12 games to go, pennant races, wild cards, and of course maybe one of the biggest fights of the last 25 years went down this weekend. Our observations from fight night at Cavino's can't wait. More next right here on FOX Sports Radio.
