All right, welcome back to the Showgram program, Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. And by the way, this just in word on the streets. We're filling in for Dan Patrick, another hat Trick Dan Patrick Hatrick next week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. So just make a mental note to join us early in the morning.
Rich Davis
Oh, and know who hit me up. Our good pal Coach Ball game. Oh, is going to hang with us one of those days.
Steve Covino
So nice. Attaboy, attaboy, attaboy. Covino and Rich bringing the fun on DP next week. But happy to be here. Broadcasting live from the FOX Sports radio studio Thursday, throwing it back. Thursday's the new Friday, so weekend begins. Danny G's here, Sam Loinchron. Thank you, FOX Sports Radio Nation.
Rich Davis
Now, if your afternoon needs a boost, let me tell you about these new Starbucks energy refreshers.
Steve Covino
Tell me about it.
Rich Davis
I mean, I'm the guy to tell you because I'm the guy that has, you know, vanilla sweet cream, cold brew every day. And I'm like, you know what, I don't want to have a ton of coffee, but these things have caffeine. The Starbucks refreshers you love now with an added boost of caffeine to power your afternoon, get your favorite flavors. They got mango, strawberry. That's my new favorite one, Mango dream.
Steve Covino
Speaking of Dan Patrick, I heard him talking about him and he's right. You think that they're going to be like overly sugar sugary because of how they look? They're not. They're really, really good.
Rich Davis
So, hey, get the new energy refreshers at Starbucks now a little afternoon pick me up. Order one on the Starbucks app, which I know you have on your phone.
Steve Covino
I do. And by the way, you could watch us live right now at COVINO and RICH FSR. So watch what you hear on YouTube. COVINO, ENRICH FSR. And if you can guess what we brought in for show and tell today or you have a good comment about it, if Danny G basically calls your name because he says something that stands out, we will give you a prize, a CNR prize pack. But every Thursday we throw it back. We reminisce. We bring in some show and tell items as well. So again, if you can guess what it is, we will hook you up and we will reveal at the end of the show.
Danny G
Like last week, Rich brought a headshot of Dane Cook.
Rich Davis
Yeah, it was me.
Steve Covino
Yeah. Because he forgot a real item. So he just went to his trunk,
Rich Davis
looked, it was in my car.
Steve Covino
Oh, and by the way, whatever, we don't have time for today because we spent a lot, a lot of time talking about weenies and hot dogs. We're going to do on over promised our bonus pod, brand new episode 135 premieres today right here on the YouTube page right after the show.
Rich Davis
I can tell you, I can tell you one thing we're going to talk about because we're not going to get to it today.
Caller/Listener
Go ahead.
Rich Davis
The evolution of the butt, the booty. Well, based on the fan that mooned everyone the other day. Yeah. We got to dissect. When did we go from a boob culture to a butt culture? And is it Shakira? Is it JLo? Is it sir Mix a lot? Is it? Who is, who do you give credit to?
Steve Covino
Well, talk about the evolution of the booty rage on over Promise.
Rich Davis
It's probably safer to talk about on our uncensored podcast.
Steve Covino
Good point. Episode 135 right after this show right here on YouTube at Covinoenrich FSR. Now, speaking of dogs, a lot of dog talk today. Hot dogs to actual dogs. There's a pill. Danny G. Do you have more insight on this pill? They're saying that they're waiting for FDA approval, but sometime this year, they're saying it's a pill that could keep your dog healthier, making him last longer.
Danny G
Yeah. By late 2026, they say the FDA is supposed to approve this and this beef flavored pill from the biotech firm Loyal in San Francis. They say you give it to your dog once a day if your dog is over 10 years old and weighs over 14 pounds and it can add one to four years of healthy life to your dog's lifespan.
Rich Davis
So essentially a dog that is in the, you know, second half of life or, you know, third quarter, essentially, you could elongate the end of their life. And I'll tell you what, we lost our dog in December and it's miserable. I, I was just talking to our friends that are in the studio saying I, I'm reluctant to get a new dog because to me, getting a dog, what comedian does that bit?
Steve Covino
Louis C.K.
Rich Davis
louis C.K.
Steve Covino
i think. Yeah.
Rich Davis
Who I love does a bit where he's like, yeah, you get a dog, you're just really signing up for heartache in like a decade.
Steve Covino
Yeah, here's some heartache. 14 years from now, I can't take it.
Rich Davis
Like, you know, my family lost our, our French bulldog, Piper, and my wife's like, should we get a new dog this year? And I'm like, no, I don't want a dog.
Steve Covino
Everything feels so empty. Yeah.
Rich Davis
But my kids and wife will probably pressure me and I'd imagine within a year, maybe we go back to that. But for me, I don't need the heartache. But I know everyone's a dog lover. People love their pets more than kids sometimes.
Steve Covino
And if there's a beef flavored vitamin that keeps them healthier and makes them last longer, this is big news. But that's what I was saying before. I didn't want to. It's a real story, but I don't
Rich Davis
want to start taking these.
Danny G
I'm your dog, and it's a. It's a real.
Steve Covino
I don't want to give false hope to dog owners.
Danny G
It's a real thing. It's just not approved by the FDA yet.
Steve Covino
Right. So that's really cool. But based on this big news, we figured we'd talk some of the greatest dogs of our lifetime.
Rich Davis
Can I give a shout out to not a dog I love, but a dog that. I feel like our parents were obsessed with saying it. I guarantee you can read my mind anytime there's a scary dog. What did your mom or dad say?
Steve Covino
Cujo.
Rich Davis
Cujo. What was with our parents fascination with.
Steve Covino
Did you ever see it? Scary movie. Scared the hell out of me.
Rich Davis
But I just feel like if you're like 40ish and your parents are boomers, I feel like I don't know any scary dog reference your parents would be like, oh, of course, they also had
Danny G
their dumb Lassie joke.
Steve Covino
Oh. I was gonna say, yeah, Mike, who runs this place, brought up every. Old dog you could think of. So, hey, there's no wrong answers, though. And it doesn't even have to be a celebrity dog. Don't you remember? Like Old Yeller? I love Old Yeller.
Rich Davis
You're saying Big Mike. Big Mike's old timer answers were Rin Tin Tin, Old Yeller, and Lassie.
Steve Covino
Yes, yes. Y. You know, growing up an 80s kid, like Benji was a famous dog. Spuds McKenzie, party dog.
Rich Davis
Spuds Mackenzie might be the coolest dog.
Danny G
Alex Westros.
Steve Covino
From where? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So we open up the phones, we have some fun. We go from hot dogs to actual dogs. 87799 on Fox. Celebrating the dogs of our life. I wasn't a dog family growing up, but I had Monkey and Max. Two chihuahuas.
Rich Davis
What did you say? Hoochie walla. What did you say?
Steve Covino
I said hoochiehwa.
Rich Davis
Oh, two Chihuahuas.
Steve Covino
You know, cheat. Two Chihuahuas. Ahead.
Rich Davis
Chihuahuas.
Steve Covino
And now Theo, man, I have a fit. Theo pays the rent. My dog now, he's in national campaigns. True story.
Danny G
Bigger star than you.
Steve Covino
Yo, he get, yo, he gets. Yo, he's the man, dude. And he's an ass magnet. I take this dog out. One coming up to me talking about him, Theo. He's a shy poo.
Danny G
What's the last national campaign he was in?
Steve Covino
I don't even know. I forget. He's been in a bunch. Seriously, like print and mostly like online and print. Yeah. So he. But big brands, so Theo's my guy now.
Rich Davis
Know what I love Cavino's dog. This is such an insult to Covino. Cavino's dog once did a commercial with a Latino guy that they were like, no, your regular owner's not good enough, but this other Latino guy is.
Steve Covino
I like my dog, Danny G. I'm. I didn't want to. I guess I'll say it on the air, man. I'm getting my dog baptized. I was wondering if you wanted to be the godfather, the dog father.
Rich Davis
Have you seen that prank on social media? Call up your old. It's some. Some great pranking, Paul. If you have, like an old school, like, especially, like, old school Italian relative,
Steve Covino
call them up and ask them what they're doing on. Just pick a date.
Rich Davis
Hey, what are you doing the weekend of, like, June 20th? I'm doing nothing.
Steve Covino
Why?
Rich Davis
Yeah, we're gonna get our dog baptized.
Steve Covino
Dog baptized.
Rich Davis
It's a good prank.
Steve Covino
It is a good prank.
Danny G
In la, everybody would believe you. I know they treat kids, the. Their dogs like kids and push them around in, you know, strollers, and I won't, I won't.
Kathleen Griffith
They put, like, boots on them.
Danny G
They don't really dress them up in foofy clothes here.
Steve Covino
I'll tell you what danger. I do think you'd be a great dog father, though. The dog father who comes to mind. Do you have a funny dog story? Now's the time to share it. Okay, so 87799 on Fox. We got some loaded lines. And hey, if you have a really great story or something that. That wows us, we'll hook you up.
Rich Davis
I don't want to hear your dog story.
Steve Covino
All right?
Rich Davis
But I do want to hear your favorite dog. Can I give you my top three? Because I challenge you to get better dogs in this.
Steve Covino
Well, I know your favorite AirBuds. Everybody knows you love air.
Rich Davis
Bud Camino has this ongoing joke.
Steve Covino
This ongoing joke. I only know that movie because you always talked about it.
Rich Davis
It's a joke in my family, and it's not even me. But I love that you assign it to me, so I'll take it. But I remember coming home from college and my mom had bought, like, every VHS tape possible. Yeah. For you. And it was like airbud Then it was like, airbud. Golden Retrieve. Golden Receiver. Golden Retriever. There's a whole series. And I'm like, mom.
Steve Covino
She's like, is it Golden Retriever or is it Golden Receiver? Or both.
Rich Davis
But there's an airbud that plays baseball.
Steve Covino
It's playing words.
Kathleen Griffith
It's like, Golden Receiver. There's like a football one.
Steve Covino
Yeah, right? I think so. I've never seen. I only know it from Rich.
Rich Davis
But honestly, Air Bud, my mom and younger siblings.
Kathleen Griffith
Golden receiver, 1998, they.
Rich Davis
I did perfect. That's my freshman year of college. I remember coming home and my mom's like, richie, I had all the Air Bud VHS tapes. I'm like, what are we doing? What happened to you guys?
Steve Covino
I was.
Rich Davis
I was gone for college. And this is what you're watching.
Steve Covino
Air Bud.
Rich Davis
Air Bud. I have two of my favorite TV ones. Can I give you two great TV dogs?
Steve Covino
Brian.
Rich Davis
Brian the dog on Family Guy. Brian talking dog. How do you not love Brian?
Steve Covino
Okay.
Rich Davis
Give me my money. And we celebrate the anniversary of this show this week. Al Bundy's dog. The Bundy's dog. Buck, remember, just would once in a while have like a monologue, like an internal monologue, and it would just sit there.
Steve Covino
By the way, Married With Children came out this week. 1997.
Rich Davis
87.
Steve Covino
1987. That's right. 11 seasons. 1987. On a network that no one really knew at the time. Fox.
Isaac Loewencrun
Yeah.
Steve Covino
And it was pushing the envelope. And the funny thought about Buck and Al Bundy is they were supposed to be like a low income, schlubby family, but from today's standard, they're pretty awesome.
Rich Davis
Yeah. When you look at it, Al Bundy, they had a huge house. Yeah, they had. They had two kids.
Steve Covino
I didn't see Kelly Bundy on Only Fans.
Rich Davis
And Peg was like a stay at home mom, Like a housewife. And they still seem to make ends meet. And everything was fine. Peg and she was like a horny mom. Like, like, what was her bed?
Steve Covino
Ye. She wanted some. Al was supposed to be like a. Like an overweight, schlubby guy. He's in great shape.
Rich Davis
From today's standard, Al Bundy, four touchdowns, one game.
Steve Covino
He's a winner. He's a winner. In today's world.
Rich Davis
In today's world, Al Bundy, that show would be so different. From today's perspective, I was by no means the schlub that he was made out to be in 87.
Steve Covino
My dog. All right.
Danny G
I got one from the 70s.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Danny G
The Brady Bunches dog. Tiger.
Steve Covino
Tiger.
Danny G
Remember the episode where things kept going missing?
Isaac Loewencrun
Yes.
Danny G
And Bobby got blamed. He had to empty all his pockets and all the endless toys were being dumped on the table.
Steve Covino
That's why. You know what?
Danny G
Remember where all the stolen items ended up, though? They were inside Tiger's dog house.
Steve Covino
Because everyone could imagine that backyard and a little swing set and Tiger's doghouse. And what's.
Rich Davis
Was that another. Was that an episode that went through commercials? Emotionally? I can't believe everyone's blaming me. I can't believe everyone's.
Danny G
With Bobby standing in the corner getting whipped with a belt.
Steve Covino
Actual Brady Bunch house.
Rich Davis
Don't make me put down my blueprints and whip you.
Steve Covino
It's actually, like, a town away.
Rich Davis
We've never.
Steve Covino
However, Bob, who's in our studio visiting with his family, just came back from the Brady Bunch house. He. I was so funny. Yeah, he just went. He said it was awesome.
Kathleen Griffith
Great, Great neighborhood. It's not far from here.
Steve Covino
It's not. It's a town. It's in Studio City.
Rich Davis
That layout's very much like my home.
Steve Covino
I said that to you.
Kathleen Griffith
It blends in. Well, like.
Steve Covino
And they've kept.
Kathleen Griffith
Haven't they kept the original architecture inside? Like.
Steve Covino
No, they redid it. Yeah, they just redid it. So.
Rich Davis
Just like, Lance Best was trying to buy it a couple years ago. Remember them?
Danny G
So, yeah, they made a TV show out of setting it up to look exactly like the TV show.
Steve Covino
Yeah, it was cool to see 87799 on Fox. Famous dogs of our lifetime that come to mind. Could be from TV shows, movies or whatever. Let's go to the phones. Give them their due. Give them their props on this day where we got great news for Dog's Health in the future.
Danny G
Let's start in Pennsylvania with Jason.
Rich Davis
Yo, pj. What's up, Jason?
Caller/Listener
Hey, what's up, fellas? Love your show. You make the ride home more enjoyable in the afternoon. I really appreciate it.
Rich Davis
Means a lot, man.
Caller/Listener
Hey, if you're like. If you're like me in your 50s and grew up in the 80s, the first one that came to mind, from Hanna Barbera, Hong Kong. Phooey.
Steve Covino
Famous one. Yeah, but there's more famous cartoon dogs. I'm surprised you went with that one, but it's a good one.
Danny G
Yeah, a lot of cartoon dogs.
Steve Covino
Yeah, a lot. Lot. So I didn't want to give them all away. You know what I will say, though? Because I really didn't. What did I say? Spuds Mackenzie. Bob brought me this Pee Wee Herman doll as a gift. Remember In Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Spec, he had Speck. He had that little tiny dog.
Rich Davis
Specific Spec.
Kathleen Griffith
Was Spec a Jack Russell terrier?
iHeartRadio Announcer
Like a little.
Steve Covino
Yeah, like a little white spotted dog. Remember that?
Rich Davis
Let's see if you guys know what is the. What's the name of the University of Georgia Bulldog?
Steve Covino
Oh, that's a good one. Oh, name of the dog.
Rich Davis
There you go, Sammy. Good one.
Kathleen Griffith
There's been several Uggas over the years. They just keep naming the six now.
Steve Covino
All right, I'm going to put you on the spot because I think you might know Rich graduated from Cary High School, but Jim Carrey High School, more like it. Because his whole personality, I think, was based off Jim Carrey. But he really did go to Cary High School in Franklin Square, Long Island. In the movie the Mask, what was the name of his dog? Oh, I don't know.
Kathleen Griffith
That's why I was just thinking of a Jack.
Webull Advertiser
Also.
Kathleen Griffith
Jack Russell terrier.
Steve Covino
Yeah, that's what made me think of it. Wasn't it Milo?
Webull Advertiser
Milo, yeah.
Rich Davis
Oh, good one. Yeah.
Kathleen Griffith
Wasn't there another Milo and Otis about the. Otis was the dog. The pug.
Webull Advertiser
Great.
Kathleen Griffith
That. That's a great movie.
Steve Covino
All right, so, dog, Back to the phones. 877-99-ON FOX.
Rich Davis
Let me hit you up with one. Go ahead. As a kid, my dad never wanted a dog. So the minute my parents got divorced, my mom's like, we're getting a dog. Total spite move.
Steve Covino
Okay.
Rich Davis
We got a golden retriever named Shadow after what movie?
Steve Covino
I know, after Shadow Stevens, your mom's favorite square on Hollywood Squares.
Rich Davis
That's exactly right. Exactly right. What is it? Her mom had the hots for it. Let's see if you go two for two, Sam. Homeward Bound. Homeward Bound. And that movie Heartstrings at the end of Homeward Bound. No spoilers. I feel like. I'm telling you, Bruce Willis was dead the whole time. At the end of Homeward Bounds, when you think that Shadow, the golden retriever is dead in the ditch and then he starts running over the hill.
Kathleen Griffith
Do you. Do you know who voiced all the. So there were three animals. Do you know who voiced those three animals?
Rich Davis
Michael J. Fox was the feisty dog. That was the other one. Who. Who was the. Who is Shadow? It was like an old timey time guy, Right?
Steve Covino
Like an old timey time guy.
Kathleen Griffith
Yeah, it was. Let's see here. It was Don Amici. Don Amici who was in Trading Places.
Rich Davis
Shadow.
Kathleen Griffith
And then Sally Field was the cat.
Rich Davis
Sally Field was the cat.
Steve Covino
Never saw it.
Rich Davis
Never saw this you never saw Homeward Bound.
Kathleen Griffith
Chance, Sassy and Shadow.
Rich Davis
I never saw everybody all chance old Sassy.
Steve Covino
How about.
Danny G
How about Famous Movie Dogs? I was thinking of Back to the Future. Almost a perfect film. Einie. Einstein.
Rich Davis
Ah.
Steve Covino
Einstein. Of course.
Rich Davis
The first living creature to travel through time.
Danny G
Exactly.
Rich Davis
Einstein.
Steve Covino
Einstein. That's a good one. All right, back to the phones. 877-99-NOx. Who do we got?
Danny G
Danny G. Our boy Tripp in Vegas.
Steve Covino
Trip in Vegas.
Rich Davis
Hey, Tripp.
Caller/Listener
Hey, Can y' all hear me?
Steve Covino
We can hear you.
Rich Davis
What's up, brother?
Caller/Listener
Oh, sorry. I'm sorry. I'm at work. Oh, hey, so I'll rattle off a few Hong Kong Police. Name was Pinrod Cooch. Not many people know that. How about Snoopy? Scooby Doo, the junkyard dog from wrestling. And then the best, I think, is Hercules from the sandlot.
Kathleen Griffith
Great one.
Rich Davis
Oh, that's a good one. Man, those are all great.
Steve Covino
He just stole, like, five people's answers just now.
Rich Davis
He's alive. Yeah.
Steve Covino
You're allowed to, though. Those are great answers. I. I was waiting for someone to say Scooby Doo. I mean, how about Scrappy?
Rich Davis
I like Scrappy. Do a lot of Zillow.
Steve Covino
Did dad incorporate, like, Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo into every song somehow?
Rich Davis
Like, yeah, Scooby Doo.
Danny G
Rich, didn't you like Scrappy was better? Didn't you think? I thought cartoon was better.
Rich Davis
He's a little badass.
Danny G
It was kind of creepy.
Steve Covino
Puppy Power. Hanna Barbera. Classics, for sure. And, you know, if we're gonna go that route, Astro. Right. Jetsons. Which, by the way, if they ever made Rich's dad in cartoon form, he'd be George Jetson, no doubt.
Rich Davis
My dad. My dad's cut from a George Jetson.
Steve Covino
His dad is George Jetson. Oh. Oh. Great to be here, Richie. Hey, what's up, Greg? Oh, happy to be here.
Rich Davis
I know
Steve Covino
Rich's dad is George Jetson, but he wears Hawaiian shirts. That's it.
Rich Davis
George Jetson on holiday. Can I give you one that I'm surprised you haven't thought of? Maybe you have, because you're a huge fan.
Steve Covino
Oh, by the way, Snoopy was a great answer, too. And I love the Joe Cool stuff. Snoopy. Thank you, Tripp, for the call. Go ahead. What do you got?
Rich Davis
Let me give you one that there's a great story behind the dog. One of our favorite actors and characters of all time. Stallone, Rocky, Balbo, Bacus Bis. The story was that Stallone had to sell his dog in a desperate move. Sold but then when he made Rocky, he somehow was able to buy his dog back. Dog, like, I mean, come on. Desperate measures. Phones are all hot, people.
Steve Covino
That's a great one.
Rich Davis
People love their dog. Yeah, but it's underrated. All right.
Steve Covino
Yeah, we're giving props to the dogs, you know, and it makes sense.
Rich Davis
They keep you happy.
Steve Covino
They're man's best friend and I'm going
Rich Davis
to look it up. What do you think the dog industry is worth? Like between pet food? Do you think it's multi billion gazillion dollar industry?
Steve Covino
I mean, by the way, you know I'm on the history channel, right? So I've heard a few stories. I don't know if there's. Okay, history boy, they call me history boy. I don't know history over here, how accurate this is. So don't quote me. But if it is accurate, feel free to quote Steve Covino. Man's best friend. Started like in the caveman days because it was a perfect pairing of man would hunt food and kill food and the dogs would wait around just for the scavenge. Yeah, for the scraps. But as they waited around for food, they also warned man of predators. So the man, the cavemen loved having these dogs around because they warned them of predators. They would feed them the scraps and that's where the relationship started. So our relationship with dogs goes back that far? Yes, that's why we have that relationship.
Danny G
Rich, you seeing this number?
Rich Davis
Yeah, I was gonna say According to chat GPT, around $275 billion globally, expected to grow by the early 2000-30s to a 500 plus billion dollar annual industry, the pet industry, between food and every everything involving pets. So my goodness.
Steve Covino
All right, so back to the phones.
Danny G
Yep.
Rich Davis
Isn't it crazy to think though within the last few generations people used to like keep their dog in a doghouse, in the yard, on a leash, on a chain. And now people put their dogs in sweaters and they sleep in your bed with you. Honestly, like remember we had that conversation old school? Like what would old timers find weird about today? We treat pets like members of the family. And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but.
Steve Covino
No, we evolved, I guess. Yeah. Pete's changed so much.
Danny G
Our grandparents said that pets are meant to be outside.
Rich Davis
Exactly. Think about your immigrant parents from the early 1900s that came here like three, four generations ago. If they had a pet, it was in a little in the backyard, didn't come in the house.
Steve Covino
It has changed a lot. It's a good Point.
Kathleen Griffith
Dogs were helpful for hunting and, you know, like, again, warding off predators.
Rich Davis
People throw a dog a bone.
Webull Advertiser
Literally.
Rich Davis
That's like, throw a dog a bone. Right now. You're like, it needs organic treats. I don't know if it could have that. Let's go rapid fire.
Danny G
Let's go to Queens.
Kathleen Griffith
My dog has a soy allergy.
Steve Covino
Peanut allergy.
Rich Davis
Can't have that.
Steve Covino
Woofles. Can't have peanuts. Thank you.
Danny G
Ray is listening in Queens.
Rich Davis
Hey, Ray.
Caller/Listener
Hey, what's up, gentlemen? So I'm about the same age as you guys.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Caller/Listener
You remember those Ernest movies?
Rich Davis
Of course.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Caller/Listener
With John Cena dog. Rim shot.
Rich Davis
Rim shot. That's funny as hell.
Ben Walter
Yes.
Rich Davis
By the way, Kavino said it. But have you noticed that John Cena sort of looks like Ernest now?
Steve Covino
Yeah, as he gets older. We say that respectfully because I don't want to get body slammed if I ever meet him.
Danny G
What's that, Ray?
Caller/Listener
All right, guys.
Danny G
Thank you, brother.
Steve Covino
Thank you, man. Who else do we got?
Danny G
All right, let's go to New York State again. Steve.
Steve Covino
Hey, Steve.
Rich Davis
Steve O.
Caller/Listener
Hey, guys. Let me just tell you this. You guys make my day because you remind me, like, of my friends sitting around, like, cracking lies, you know, like, it's that kind of a familiar format of a program. And I just really appreciate it. You and Dan Patrick get me through the day. So I want to say thank you.
Rich Davis
Honestly, things like that make me feel good. So thank you.
Steve Covino
Yeah, I appreciate it.
Caller/Listener
Yeah, yeah. Two quick ones. The old man, remember on Frazier, he had that dog Eddie? Yeah, Eddie was pretty cool, but the coolest dog ever in my life. And this is a true story. When I was a kid, we moved out to our cottage, and my parents never let me have a dog. But this dog named Gus, he will come every summer, and he would just show up. He would stay at People's Cottages, and we'd all love Gus. Gus is here. But then Gus knew when it was time to move on, like, to the next cottage, and he would work his way down the cottages. And I never know who owned this dog, but my sister and I, we still have this great memory of Gus showing up.
Rich Davis
You know what I wonder about that. There's. I just got back from the Dominican Republic, right? And I feel like there were cats on the resort premises. And I imagine they just live by just sort of making their rounds, knowing random workers or people will.
Danny G
You're gonna see that in Hawaii, too. They have island cats, like, just like,
Rich Davis
you know, like some. Yeah, someone will throw them a little something and that's how they get by. That's wild, Gus. It's a good one, buddy.
Steve Covino
Great story, man. Thanks. Yeah.
Danny G
Great phone call. Let's go to Chris in Inglewood.
Steve Covino
Yo, Chris. What's up?
Caller/Listener
How's it going, guys? A great topic because I've always wanted to give these. They're doing. They never do. But if you remember the dogs in Terminator 1, when Kyle Reese is explaining how the future looks and he goes to that quick scenario, the dogs barking save the day. When the Terminator pops up in the human world and he that's his only way that he escapes, the dogs alert. Their barking gets him out of there.
Steve Covino
I love that. You know what?
Rich Davis
I never even thought of that. Can I tell you guys? He said the dog's barking. Can I tell you a quick 22nd story?
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Caller/Listener
No.
Steve Covino
He made me think of like a million different things during that story. Thank you, bro.
Rich Davis
We always talk about, like, times where like, oh, dogs are so friendly and happy and like, of course there's bad dog stories where things go wrong. I, I think every guy could relate to this because women are more sensitive and sweet and kind than we're boneheads.
Steve Covino
Right?
Rich Davis
You ever driving down the street and you see a stray dog, and a lot of times you'll stop. As I have a collar, you try to help, but then sometimes I can't. I just, I'm on a highway, I'm in a rush. We were on a highway in Texas, actually 35 if you live Austin, San Antonio. We were on the 35 and we see a stray dog on the side. And my wife is like, babe, we gotta pull over. Like, the dog's gonna run on the highway and get killed. I was like, all right. So we pull over the car, the dog, like, goes into some, like, brush area. And I'm like, oh, my God, we gotta go help this dog. We go over this little hill. And then the dog was with like 10 other dogs looking at us like they lured us. And I go, ah. And I run back to the car and sort of push my wife aside. And to this day she's like, your instinct was to push me aside and get out of the way. Wow. But it was very like, the dog lured us back. Like, we're gonn going to lure, like. I was like, this dog's going to eat me.
Steve Covino
Hey, by the way, you know what I keep seeing on social media? You know, the buttons that they sell. Now, is everybody keen on this? Does everybody know what I'm talking about? They sell buttons to train your Dog. So the dog will be like, treat. Outside, treat. Rub my belly. And the dog starts to know these commands and then he start hitting these buttons.
Danny G
I don't think you're making this up, dude.
Steve Covino
I am not.
Rich Davis
You know what? Get a better algorithm. Get a better algorithm.
Steve Covino
Bob and Heather know what I'm talking about. But that's how far it's going. It's like outside.
Rich Davis
Wait, hold on.
Steve Covino
Outside.
Rich Davis
What does this button say? Treat. What does this button say? Weak ass. Owner.
Steve Covino
All right. By the way, you think I'm making that up? I'm not.
Rich Davis
I believe you.
Steve Covino
They exist and all the dogs know how to use them.
Danny G
Is that like the racist voice we have on that drop?
Rich Davis
Racist? Yeah.
Steve Covino
When Rich comes over and says, nerd, nerd. By the way, you made me think of a few Rich. I don't know why, but my mind keeps wandering. Marmaduke, right? You think of Marmaduke and growing up watching cartoons, didn't you feel like on a mountain you'd see some sort of St. Bernard with a barrel around his neck?
Rich Davis
Never saw that, right?
Steve Covino
He's always saving someone's life on a ski lift.
Rich Davis
I have a great Saint Barthoven.
Kathleen Griffith
It was like the Swiss Alps. Like they would whiskey in the barrel.
Steve Covino
But wasn't it in like every cartoon?
Danny G
Especially part of droopy cartoons.
Rich Davis
Remember Droopy Guys, I have a real. Honestly, you would think. How does Rich have a story for everything? I have a really bizarre St. Bernard story.
Steve Covino
I can't wait.
Rich Davis
And I'm going to tell you next time.
Steve Covino
You know what? I'm on the edge of my seat.
Rich Davis
Hang tight. Plus we're going to talk Colorado Rockies.
Steve Covino
Saint Bernard.
Danny G
That may be the strangest tease we've ever had on this show.
Rich Davis
I have a wild St. Bernard story that plus we'll talk some MLB and a bunch next. Right here, Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio.
Steve Covino

Look at that little show and tell. If you're watching our YouTube stream, what are the two items that we brought in today? If you guess or have a smart ass to answer.
Steve Covino
Speaking of dogs, mine includes a little dog. See that?
Rich Davis
Okay, I do see that.
Steve Covino
All right, all right.
Rich Davis
Hey, you know what rapid fire Danny gave? Then we'll talk a little Major League Baseball. There's a team celebrating mediocrity and I love it.
Steve Covino
Well, we're talking dogs because there Was a big announcement today. It's not FDA approved yet, but they're saying 20, 26, a pill that's gonna give added health benefits to dogs.
Rich Davis
That could add years to a dog's life.
Steve Covino
It says one to four years, which is wild. I mean, which is a lot for them.
Danny G
Saying by the end of this year, it'll be approved.
Rich Davis
That's like 20% life. I mean, it's a lot. It's a big deal. So rapid fire, your favorite dogs, tv movies, what do you got?
Danny G
All right, let's go to Florida. Kelly.
Rich Davis
Hey, Kel.
Caller/Listener
What's up, guys?
Rich Davis
What up, dude?
Caller/Listener
Love this show, man. You guys are awesome. Shower you with, you know, more love. You're pick me up in the afternoon after a long day, but thank you, Stretch. I like going deep on these things. Remember, sit, Ubu, Sit.
Rich Davis
Good dog. Sit, Ubu, Sit. You know, I'm the idiot kid. I thought it was Boo Boo for, like, my whole child.
Steve Covino
Everybody did, bro. Everybody.
Rich Davis
But it was so dumb because it was Ubu Productions.
Steve Covino
That's Ubu.
Rich Davis
But when you were a kid, you're like, sit, Boo Boo, sit.
Steve Covino
It's like.
Rich Davis
Like Ubu.
Danny G
Yeah.
Steve Covino
By the way, that's a really cool pull right there.
Rich Davis
What TV show do you think of? I think a Family Ties.
Steve Covino
I don't know. I mean, it was so many.
Rich Davis
Sit, Ubu. Sit. Good dog.
Steve Covino
For sure. Everybody knows that. Everyone. Everyone who watched TV in the 80s.
Rich Davis
People don't know that was Isaac's voiceover.
Danny G
Like West Coasters. We saw this commercial a thousand times, and it was, go see Cal. Go see Cal. Go see Cal. But as little kids, we thought it was pussy cow. Pussy cow, Pussy cow. Because he had animals on the car lot.
Rich Davis
Oh, I thought Sam had a BP there for a second. I know.
Steve Covino
I don't know what's going on right now.
Danny G
You're not from California. All right, let's go to Texas. George is in the house.
Rich Davis
What's up, Tejas?
Caller/Listener
Hey, guys, I got three for you. I got the. The dog from Tom Slick. Remember the little guy that would.
Rich Davis
Yeah.
Caller/Listener
Every time Tom Slick would win, and then the other guy would lose. And then the little do right dog or whatever his name was. And then the Taco Bell dogs.
Rich Davis
Yo, Kira. Taco Bell was huge. You know, Chihuahuas are the most popular dog in the United States as far as ownership now.
Steve Covino
Yo, Quiera. Taco Bell. That was. That was a big, big campaign my family had.
Rich Davis
We had a little stuffed animal. That dog. Yeah, they made merch for that little Taco Bell.
Steve Covino
Dog. Good call on that, by the way.
Danny G
Richard couldn't hold, but he said to remind you guys about dollar from Richie Rich. And he said Marley and me because he blubbered. And I've told you guys about that. I was on a date in a movie theater and I was so embarrassed because I couldn't turn the waterworks off.
Dr. Nicole Safire
And I'm not.
Danny G
I'm not a crier either. In that movie. The way they made it, it just something about it.
Steve Covino
Danny G was like, oh, man.
Rich Davis
Boo hoo hoo hoo.
Steve Covino
That's how Danny G Cries a lot of people.
Danny G
First of all, I don't sound anything like that. All right, let's go to Kevin in Pennsylvania.
Rich Davis
What's wrong, Danny? Nothing.
Danny G
Damn you. Marley and me might have scored you points though, right? Yeah, she's. Oh, man, this guy's sensitive.
Steve Covino
Do you remember the dog in Garfield? Oh, yeah, Garfield and Odie.
Caller/Listener
Yeah.
Danny G
All right, Pennsylvania. What's up?
Rich Davis
What's up, pa?
Caller/Listener
The previous caller kind of stole my thunder with the Taco Bell and the Ubu. But I'm gonna date myself here a little bit. How about the dog from Little Rascals?
Steve Covino
Oh,
Caller/Listener
I can't remember.
Steve Covino
Spot or no Petey. Am I making that up?
Rich Davis
Petey sounds right.
Steve Covino
I think I'm right.
Rich Davis
I'll go with that.
Danny G
Sam is checking.
Steve Covino
You think Richard? No, He's Alfalfa's biggest fan. Yeah, look at me, bro.
Danny G
All right, let's wrap it up with Flaco in upstate New York.
Caller/Listener
Gentlemen, thank you for having me on. I appreciate it.
Rich Davis
No problem.
Caller/Listener
Going back to going back to the old school theme. Retired copy. Found a white pit bull about a year old in the back of a trap house that was tied up. Ended up driving around the back of my black and white, brought it home and went over like a pregnant pole vaulter with my 9 month pregnant wife at the time. So I ended up having a non official adoption vetting process within the hood for the next three days. Within the back of my car. Found the right family, delivered both the new owner and the dog to the vet, get the shots, and then I saw him for the next seven years in the hood. Still brings a smile to my face, boys.
Rich Davis
There you go.
Danny G
That was awesome.
Kathleen Griffith
That's nice.
Rich Davis
Hey, you know, neither. None of no one seemed really urgent to hear my wild St. Bernard story.
Steve Covino
I've been waiting. Why do you think I'm sitting on the edge of my seat?
Rich Davis
So my, my brother Jimmy had a childhood best bud whose dad would always walk his big St. Bernard around town. This story really isn't much about the St. Bernard, but I just, I remember the family. They were the type of family that had multiple huge Saint Bernard. So this guy would walk around.
Steve Covino
Did he wear barrels like the cartoons?
Rich Davis
But like, these are like the biggest dogs ever seen in my life. This guy would walk by the block every day. Hey, what's going on? I'd be like, hey, Mr. G. This guy would walk by every St. Bernard's now this is a typical picture of a guy in the 80s, bald guy with a mustache. One day he shows up walking these dogs with a huge pompadour haircut. Guy got big, like a huge hair transplant. And I remember my whole family being like, should we address it? Do we say anything? Because from now on, he used to like either wear a hat or cover his head. Boga. All of a sudden he had like John, as you would say, Johnny Suede.
Steve Covino
Johnny Suede. Like he was Silvio of the Sopranos.
Rich Davis
And they. I don't know how you live with multiple Saint Bernards in the house, but oh, man, those are some beautiful dogs. I just don't know if I'm down for a big ass dog like that.
Kathleen Griffith
They slobber a lot. They're huge.
Steve Covino
How about for you rock fans out there? You know how many sublime songs reference Lou Dog, the Dalmatian? I got a Dalmatian.
Rich Davis
I could still.
Steve Covino
His dog Lou is referenced in so many of those songs. So.
Danny G
Dude, I'm glad you brought that up. Dmx, his beloved pit bull was Boomer.
Steve Covino
Yeah, there's a lot of artists that incorporate their dog to, you know, in their music and stuff like that. Cartoons, movies and just such a big part of our life. And I hope these, these vitamins, these beef flavored vitamins get approved soon so our dogs could last longer. So there you have it. Old school win 50 hits. More answers. Ovino Enrich at Fox Sports Radio.
Rich Davis
Isaac Loewencrun, what's going on?
Isaac Loewencrun
Yeah, well, thank you very much. We got round one of the masters winding its way down to its conclusion. Sam Burns and defending champion Rory McIlroy remain tied for the lead. Both of them shot five under 67s today. NBA Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid, undergoing an appendectomy today in Houston, obviously won't play. Therefore, in tonight's game against the Rockets, Golden State ruled Steph Curry out for tonight's game against the Lakers because of right knee injury management. Celtics ruled out Jaylen Brown for tonight's game against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden because of left Achilles tendonitis. Does your afternoon need a boost? Try the new Starbucks Energy Refreshers. The Starbucks refreshers you love now with an added boost of caffeine to power your afternoon. Get your favorite flavor or try the new Mango Strawberry Energy Refresher or Mango Dream Energy Drink. Get the new Energy Refreshers at Starbucks today or order one right now on the app. In Major league baseball today, 3A's pitchers combined for a 1 hitter and a 10 victory over the Yankees. Twins topped the Tigers 31 to sweep their four game series. Finally, guys, back to the Masters, where front office sports reports that Augusta National's effort to crack down on resold tickets this year saw some fans whose tickets scanned abnormally today get escorted into a small building with its windows blacked out for questioning. Fox Sports Radio audio department therefore created a simulation of what might be going on behind closed doors in that small building with the blacked out windows. Listen,
Steve Covino
why are you here? Why am I here? Every minute you don't tell us why you're here. Here I cut off a finger. Mine or yours? Yours.
Caller/Listener
Damn.
Steve Covino
You have 30 seconds. You're not going to start humming the theme to Jeopardy, are you?
Isaac Loewencrun
Oh, yes. A lot going on underneath the Aelas. Back to you guys.
Lily Herman
Thank you.
Rich Davis
Isaac. Isaac, when you get that Starbucks refresher, do you want one of the new frog cake pops, too? I feel like you'd love a cake pop.
Isaac Loewencrun
I've already had three. I've already had three. I've already had three.
Rich Davis
Perfect. Thank you. Have a great night, Isaac. Always great seeing you, buddy. Hey, there is a story about the Colorado Rockies. We're gonna get to to wrap the show, by the way. And we're gonna give you good reason as to root for the Colorado Rockies against the Padres tonight, other than the fact that Danny hates the Padres because he's a Dodgers fan. So we'll talk Rockies next right here on fsr.

I don't get offended by that. It annoys me, though. Someone recently, I was at a. At a store and someone's like, yo, yo, Big Dog. And I'm like, yeah, all right.
Steve Covino
By the way, we are Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. And every Thursday, we throw it back old school in 50 hits and we bring in show and tell items.

Danny G
Yeah, nobody guessed but Wes, who is a regular inside our chat every day on YouTube. He's turning 49 today, so we got to send him a prize package.
Steve Covino
Yo, happy birthday.
Rich Davis
What a great. He's a Seahawks fan. What a great birthday. 49.
Steve Covino
He's a 49er now. I know. All right, so I brought in my reveal is my sister got me this. Now it's a little more common. The word is out, but I got it early on. I was like, whoa, I'm not a big bobblehead collector or a Funko Pop collector, but she got me a personalized Covino Funko pop complete with microphone. Because I'm a radio host and my dog. Speaking of all the dog talk, my dog Theo as a little companion. But it's a personalized Funko Pop. I think they're still available if you want to buy one. But they're so cool. So I bring that to the office. I have that in my office at home.
Danny G
That is cool. You can see it on our YouTube channel right now. Spot just closed in on the doggy.
Steve Covino
Yep. So that's my personalized Funko Pop.
Rich Davis

Rich Davis

Now, tonight, we should all be rooting for the Rockies, not only because Danny, you're a Dodgers fan, and Moncy. Hi, Moncy, you're a Dodgers fan. And Rockies are playing the Padres. So I'm sure we want the Padres to lose.
Danny G
We hate the Padres more than the
Steve Covino
Rockies, but, I mean, go ahead.
Rich Davis
But get this.
Steve Covino
Yeah.
Rich Davis
If the Rockies win tonight, they will be over.500 for the first time since 2022, I believe.
Steve Covino
I'm not necessarily rooting for that. I picked the Padres in that. The league. I'm in your elimination pool with my elimination pool.
Rich Davis
Yeah, Rocky, I thought that's what you're gonna say.
Steve Covino
I thought Rich was rooting for the Rockies just to bother me.
Rich Davis
Oh.
Steve Covino
So, yeah, I need the. I need the Padres twin. Personally, did you see the.
Rich Davis
The videos coming out of Colorado where fans are just cheering to get to 500 and the guys in the bleachers
Danny G
with their shirts off?
Steve Covino
Yeah, no, I think that's cool. I. Hey, they got something to cheer about. So I'm not against that. But they got the.500 against the Pirates yesterday.
Rich Davis
But interestingly enough, though, like, in hockey, the Avalanche, of course, the Broncos, the Nuggets, like, that's a team. That's a city of. Of competitiveness, of champions. Like. So to me, the fact that the Rockies have sort of fallen off lately, it shows that there needs to be an ownership move or something.
DraftKings Sportsbook Advertiser
Right?
Danny G
Well, but the fans, they need a pat on the back in that city. They're 14th in attendance last year. The Rockies.
Rich Davis
Yeah, it's just for a city, you
Danny G
know, how many games under.500 they finished. So the fans, they come out, no matter.

Denver's a great city, great stadium. Been to Coors Field. And you know what? Always wishing them the best. That, you know, in a tough division, it's going to be really tough for the Rockies to, you know, you have the Dodgers permanently there. The Padres are always sort of in it, and Arizona is always pesky. They're a good team. So you're dealing with a tough division to begin with. So Rockies get over.500. That would be pretty cool. And you know what? Tomorrow we'll continue this because I do want to touch on some of the. I guess you would say saddest fan bases in all sports. Like who who's always who's always hoping for greatness and they never get it because you got to put the Rockies in that conversation. Think about it. We'll talk about tomorrow. Over promised. All the stuff we didn't get to, we will get to next. We'll talk booties and a bunch more this honestly for real booties. Arriva dare you baby.

See you in the over promised land.

It was in that moment I caught who was staring back at me in betrayal or more like what, my insurance bill. With trembling hands, I grabbed my phone and switched to Geico, saving about 900 in the process and never to be betrayed again. Now that was bloody rivet.
