I'm excited about the Yankees, excited about football. That's the big story here. But at the same time, emotional event. My air conditioning broke in the middle of a heat wave and I'm not sure if they're able to resolve it. I've been sitting in my own sweat for the past five days trying to get this fixed. Look at the positive. It's like a sauna. You're going to lose a pound. It's like 86 degrees in my house when I go home, so it's hard to, it's hard to really have as much fun as I'd like to tonight. At least you're gonna have some football in the heat. Yeah. I hope you add some tears if the Yankees lose. Oh, I hope not. Cavino and Rich, we go to your phone calls now we're in the middle of old school and 50 hits. We'll explain. But like we always do, we be rocking out NFL Thursday money as we do it live from the FOX Sports Radio studio. Just a reminder, if you ever want to try an Olympic or Paralympic sport, try fencing. Fencing, you say? Yep. It's safe, fast, easy to start. Find the beginning class near you. USAFencing.org TRIFENCING that's USAFencing.org TRIFENCencing I think I will. So we have lots to get to more NFL, some MLB if we have time. This Le'Veon Bell story because, well, we'll explain. He's in the news. But old school and 50 hits. We do that every Thursday. We reminisce. We get you involved. Fox Sports Radio Nation. Thanks for being part of what we do. 8779 on Fox. Danny G, super producer brought to our attention. That is Beyonce and Piazza's birthday. Now you think Beyonce, you think Houston. What a power couple. Piazza, you could think New York, you could think la. But the best way to think about this is to think of a city. And what celebrity do you think of first? That's really who runs it. And I'm sure there's multiple answers and that's fine. And generationally people are gonna have different opinions. But like if I say. If I say Miami, Florida, I'm like, that's pit bull territory, man. But you may think someone else. You may think a football player. Right. But that's Mr. 305. I think Dwyane Wade. Like it's not only it. Only it doesn't have to be one person. But you say Miami. Know what I immediately think? I think Dwayne Wade. I think pit bull. I think Gloria Stefan. Oh, the sack. I think of Dan Marino's father and I think of Dan Marino. See what I mean? So it's a fun debate who really runs that city? You know, Danny G. And I were debating Atlanta earlier, but we turn a few. Miami. Miami. I also think anonymous cheeks. Oh yeah, everywhere. Everywhere. Yeah, but rollerblading, maybe in south beach or something like that. I was going to just throw a city up to you guys. Okay, cool. What about Chicago, man? You know, it's really funny. Michael Jordan would be an answer. But I don't go basketball first in my mind. I think the late Ryan Sandberg comes to mind. I know that's the shows that I'm a kid of the 80s. But you say Chicago. I think like Ryan Sandberg pops in my head. Or Andre Dawson. Right? Yeah, like that. But you know what, it's a weird answer. The first thing that came to mind for me was Abe Froman. I don't know, I think he's the sausage king of Chicago. Well, that's the sausage. Ice cub pops in your head. 85 Bears maybe like his little kids. I think Walter Payton. I think there are a lot of sports figures that we could go to. But outside of sports, I thought Bill Murray. Yes. As far as just representing Chicago. Yes. See, that's why that might be the answer. Because like who's more Chicago than that? Sure. Right. Like that's really what we're getting to decor. Like if I say Seattle, you might think Griffey, but I also think 90s rock. I think a lot of. So who would be the king? Like Chris Cornell or something. And know what's interesting about the thought thing? Niji and I really like this. Just because a guy played in that city doesn't mean, like, he's synonymous with that city. I'll explain. Like Don Mattingly. No one was a greater Yankee than Don Mattingly. But he's like an Indiana guy. He's not like a. He's not a New York City guy. Just New Yorkers loved him. Yeah, right. So he wouldn't be a good answer. Same with your Louisiana Lightning, Ron Guidry as a kid. Like, it's like how Larry Bird, obviously from the sticks. Do you think of him for Boston? Who do you think of for Boston? Like a Donnie Wahlberg or something, right? Like someone. Like, who's really Boston. Like someone New addition. Is someone really Boston, a Mark Wahlberg or something? It's funny you would say that, because I think if you say Philly, there's so many athletes. But I think Boys to Men. Boys to Men is the first thing that pops in my mind. The roots. I thought Will Smith. Will Smith, Yeah. I would say Mike Schmidt. Schmitty. Yeah. Schmitty is what I thought of before. That's a good one. I do think that. And you know what another interesting level of the thought is? We may think that, but people from Philly might not think that. Right. But we think that outside looking in, because I imagine that people think I'm from Jersey. They're like, yo, man, Bon Jovi. And I'm like, yeah, I guess that's a popular answer. But that's not what I think. That's not how I feel. I don't know. But outside looking in, you might think that. How many people would think Stallone with Philly. Oh, you know what? That's right. You know, like, just because of Rocky. But I think Stallone, I picture driving down the 101 and seeing Balboa, which is how he got the name. So he was driving down the 101, where we drive every day. He saw the street sign, Balboa. Hey, it sounds like a good Rocky. White Oak just didn't have the same Rocky Sepulveda. Think of the city, think of the state. Who runs it? Hit us up. Now we turn it to you. Fox Sports Radio Nation on Beyonce's 44th, Piazza's 57th. They represent their cities pretty strong. Let's go to you. I'll give you one. While the Lions, we, a couple of us, pick them to go all the way, maybe not win the super bowl, but if you say Detroit, I think Eminem. Yeah. Because he represents it so hard. Eminem. And then put it on the map. Barry Sanders. Barry Sanders. I think Eminem and Alan Trammell. I was gonna say in a weird, funky way, not above Motown, but Tom Selleck, just because of the hats. They just did that Tom Selleck Day at the stadium. You might say Jetson. Think of Kevin Arnold from the Wonder Years. Right. He doesn't run it, does he? No. All right, you know what? Let's go to Andy in Reno. What's up, buddy? Andy. Gotta turn your radio down. Andy. Andy. What's going on? What's up, buddy? Hey, what's going on? You're going on right now. You are going on. Oh, right on. Anyway, Andy from Reno, Nevada. I am. I have been here since 1984. I've been through a lot of generations. I. I see Nick Burton play for Nevada. I seen Cabinet play for Naps. Nevada. We have Mills Lane here. I know Mills Lane, and he still didn't turn his right. He's in Las Vegas, I think, at Danny Gans. Remember, he used to run. Yeah, but he used to run that. I also think of Mills Lane. Yeah. No, I'm kidding. If you say. If you say Vegas. That's interesting, because I. I will think some acts. Like, I think of a Carrot Top. Do you think of maybe Elvis, even though he's not a Vegas guy, but Viva. Or do you think of that's. I'm sorry to go ahead and think, but Elvis could be Memphis and Las Vegas. Like, how many people can claim two is. I mean, that's special territory. It's a cool thought. So. Yeah. Who runs that city? Who's the face? Let's say you have. And Hawaii. Danny, Whose face represents it? Old school Sammy Davis Jr. For Old Vegas. Old school Vegas. Yeah. The Rat Pack, I guess. Your phone calls. Let's say hi to our buddy in Vegas, Tripp. What's up, Tripp? Hey, great day, guys. I had a quick question after tomorrow's show. Rich, do you think we can get you a shot on the mascot with a capital one when they do the commercial? Let me tell you, tomorrow. I'm going to be a mascot tomorrow morning. And I think it's. I think. I think I'm going to do the soda pop dance like I'm Djokovic at the US Open. I think I'm really going to lean into it. I don't know. It's Capital One reference, but hey, anyway, I don't watch commercial. College mascot commercials. Right. Yeah. Yeah. So for here, obviously, probably Floyd Mayweather, because he's just known for gambling. And then being from Columbia, South Carolina. George Rogers is. His statue sits outside the stadium. Our only heisman winner. You know, when you say Travis Kelsey and his brother Jason. Right. Do you think Ohio. They've done so much for their. Their town and their city that when people say Ohio, you are thinking new heights. Kelsey Bros or no, Are you still thinking even though he's not there, LeBron James is LeBron James. Yeah. Him screaming Cleveland at the top of his lungs will always go down in history. Yeah. Ohio is also tricky because there's three significant cities in there, so it's tough to pick, like, guy, especially if they're just from. From Cleveland. I think of Dave Chappelle, too. You know, you think of Cleveland sports. Now, this is a dumb thought, but I almost feel like I think fictional Cleveland Indians just as much as regular. Like, I thought of, like, when you were thinking Cleveland sports, I'm like, well, you got a wild thing. Rick Vaughn, you got Jake Taylor, you got. Wait, oh, those are not real guys. Yeah, that doesn't count. Now, I think Jack Nicklaus when it comes to Ohio. But these are. These are good faces. And off the air, I alluded to this before. Danny's like, what about Atlanta? And I'm like, well, I mean, growing up outside, looking in, I'm on the east Coast. I'm in New Jersey. We had tbs. And I always associated Atlanta with Dale Murphy. And that's generational. That's. I played RBI baseball as a kid. He had 44 home runs on that video game. He was the dude that I knew that represented Atlanta. So that's where I go to. But generationally, you might think someone else. Jermaine Dupri. Jermaine Dupree. Ludacris. Right. Like, outcast. So it depends which generation you live in. But that's what makes this fun. And we'll try to figure it out. Who else do we got? Got to be a pretty cool feeling to think those guys represent. Oh, yeah, that's great. You know, to so many. I mean, that's why it's cool to put your city or state on the map. Like, that's. That's part of the fun of making it. What about New Orleans? You know, I think of Drew Brees a little bit, but. But he's so anti. With everything other thought I have in New Orleans. Like, every other thought I have in New Orleans is the music, the culture, and everything. Andrew Brees. It's so funny because that's exactly who I think of, too. I thought Harry Connick Jr. Because he always does those voiceovers for any. And when Katrina happened, who was there to support the city? It was him raising money. Yeah, he's that guy. So, yeah, that's that. He's probably the real or right answer there for our generation. But I did think Drew Brees. Yeah, that's who I thought. I think it's Chef Emerald, too. Yeah, I think that's a good answer. Stop laughing at him. Gosh. Remember, he welcomed Drew Brees into the city by cooking for him. Yeah. The food background. I'm totally. Yes. All right, Back to the phones. 877. 99 on Fox. Brian in New York. What's up, Brian? Brian. Hey. The ultimate has got to be Broadway Joe. Joe Namath. I mean, his nickname is Broadway Joe. Yeah. I mean, see, now you're from New York, right? Generationally, I can't argue that. Right. So in his day, probably. And of course, I know the legend of Joe Namath and the swag he brings to New York and football and how he predicted they'd win it. And they did. But for me, I don't know. I don't think Joe Namath growing up, I think it's a good argument just because of what he said, but it's also Namath was a guy who was born in Pennsylvania, went to school in Alabama, and took New York by storm. So there's not even like a roots thing with Namath, which tells you how big of a deal he was at the time for them, you know, that's a good one. I mean, who would you think of? I'm sure I'm glad you said, because I, I know all local cities and probably radio or TV stations do their list of like, I. We recently saw one that SNY New York put out. It was your current top 10 New York athletes. And I think ever since, and I hate to say this, being that I don't like the Yankees since Jeter left. I don't know if there's like a clear number one if you're a New Yorker right now. Well, who's the answer? Lindor, Aaron Judge, Like, Brunson, like, is there, like, who's. Brunson was top. I remember that. Yeah. But I remember who's like, who's. Who represents New York sports right now, you know, maybe Jackson Dart in five years if things go well. Yeah. And if it was college, Rick Patino's even got a, you know, maybe not player wise. Yeah. Popularity, very New York. But certain celebrities just represent that city so hard. We go back to your calls. 87799 on Fox. Say hi to Rory in Washington State. Hey, Rory. Hey, what's up, guys? Hey. Hey. So, yeah, I was just going to say one of you already said it, but Griffey and Seattle, you know, he's. You always hear those stories that, you know, Griffey kept baseball in Seattle. Well, if they didn't win in 95, they said they were done there, right? Yeah, they just. By winning a playoff series, it sort of kept the vibe alive. I usually think of Jay Buhner and Ken Phelps, but if you want to go Griffey, that's fine. Yeah. Rich, when I say San Francisco, do you think of your Niners? You think Montana right away? You know, I. I still. I think. I think Montana and bonds are 2. And rice a Roni. Right. You know, and Rice a Roni and Dirty here. A lifetime supply. I mean, is Steph Curry. I mean, is Golden State. Is the Bay Area. I mean, is Steph Curry. Good one. You go to that part of the country and I bet you see a hell of a lot of Steph Curry jerseys on kids, right? Brought some glory. Man, this is tougher than I thought. Danny G. To really pinpoint who runs it. Yeah. Because we could argue about LA for a half hour. I mean, I think Ice Cube, because of the beginning of the World Series, the Dodgers bring him out as the face of LA. LA sports right now. LeBron James. No, no, I wouldn't call him the face of la. I like the Ice Cube. Really. That performance did solidify his importance to LA and the culture out here. For sure. I wouldn't have known it was that strong, but I saw it with my own eyes. I was there for that. That was wild. Don't even dare say Fat Joe for New York. Get out of here. I want no part of New York Joe representing New York. I think Rakim, Run dmc, Biggie, Jay Z, Biggie. That rap scene. But, like, who's the king? I think Spike Lee is a super fan. Just I. You know. But you know what, speaking of King, right? Who'd you say Spike Lee, but King of New York. The Coney photo shoot. Biggie Smalls with the crown. That. That iconic hip hop photo is what? Dean Tim. The King of Brooklyn. The king of New York. And if you follow hip hop, you know that there was none better. We. We live in la, but none of us, except Danny G are true Los Angeles sports fans. Yeah. What do you think? Like, we live here and I'm like, is it Freddie Freeman? Is it like, if you could debate, if you would have put together, like, hey, the local top. The biggest LA sports names right now is Ohtani, right? Now, I would say Ohtani. Yeah, yeah. Biggest sports name. I agree. Biggest sports. There's a language barrier, and I'm not getting that. I'm not getting in that conversation. Like, how could he be. Remember that conversation? Like, how could you be the face of a game? But I'm just saying, like, I feel like Freddie. That kids love Freddie Freeman, but they all think there's no chance. I love Freddie Freeman. He's a great guy. Ohtani's. So it's Otani's, though, from Southern California originally. So. Yeah, that helps. I think that helps the debate here, right? He's. Oh, he's a California kid. Hershel says someone represents a city because they played there for, like. Yeah, I think it really adds to the argument if you're from there, you know, you could represent, like, LeBron's the ultimate Ohio. Like, from Akron, played for the Cavs, won a championship there. That's why I say some are more definitive and obvious. I get Mr. 305 LeBron. But again, you don't have to be from there. Where's Piazza from? That's. That's good. I don't even know where he's. Oh, he asked me. Wasn't his family friends with Lasorda? So Italy. Hold on, let me look that up for you at. Yeah, I like him because he's Italian. 877-99-ON FOX. The. The King. The face of the particular state or city, you know, whichever you discuss. I think I have a city. Okay. That we will all say the same person. Okay. Okay. And I'll do. I'll say the city. Let me. And then think on it, and then I'll give you a countdown and we all say it at the same time. Okay. I love the state. Buyer. Spot. You two, Sam, you two. Ireland. Dublin. Minneapolis. One, two, three, Kirby. Wow. Did you say Prince? Prince. I said Prince. I said Puckett. I said Puckett. Yeah. Wow, that's incredible. The Prince lived in Minneapolis, right? Like, year round. Like, that was his home base. He's from there. Kirby. Spot. I'm embarrassed for them, actually. Yes. I'm a little. Like, I thought I. You know, like, I thought I knew you guys. Prince is a great answer. There's no question about that. But Puckett came to mind. But where's Puckett from? So Prince may get the edge, Right. Because he's actually from there. Where the hell's Puckett from? And Cove Piazza grew up in Pennsylvania. Oh, okay. Minneapolis. One, two, three. Gary Anderson. No, no, sorry. Kirby Puckett's from Chicago. He's From Chicago. Yeah, but I mean, forever. Forever synonymous with the twins. He won two championships there, 87 and 91. Kirby. Yeah. So. All right. It's a really interesting question. It's a fun debate that you could bring to your football party tonight, Steve, in Louisiana. You know, it is. It's really a fun game if you think you know the people you with. It can almost be like a game show. Like, if you were partners on a game show, like, who would they say? Cincinnati. Like, you have to match. You have to match with your partner to get like. Like, what will. I think Cavino says Cincinnati. Is he going to say Icky woods or Joe Burrow? Wait. Or is he going. Was he going to say Chris Sabo's goggles? Sabo. Yeah. Like, you know, like, it's a fun. Davis. I think it's a fun game to see if you can match your buddy Danny. Maybe we craft a game one day we see if we could do a little sports match game. I would think Paul o' Neill had to run that city. Paul o', Neill, he kicked a baseball in from the outfield in Cincinnati. Steve from Louisiana. I think Louisiana. Lightning, the Gator, Ron Guidry. But he may think something completely different. What's up, Steve? Shaq, lsu. What do you got, man? Hey, Steve. What's going on, bro? I love the show. I'm from Louisiana, but I'm from. I was born in Baltimore, so I kind of got an obvious answer. I think A1, A, 1B. I got to go with Ray Lewis in the dance. And then Cal Ripken, the Iron man, bro. I mean, honestly, that's. You just defined the city. Ray Lewis with the slide, he defined. He. That was. Those are great answers, right? Yeah. But then it does make you think, well, what about the guys that are actually from that city? Yeah, they won in that city, and they're synonymous with that city. And that's part of the conversation. I get it. But Ron Guidry's from Louisiana. I. I think that if you could make the city forget you're not from there, that means you must be a megastar, because you're right. There's. There's players on big teams, and you're like, yeah, he's not from there. Like, there's guys on the Mets or Yankees that you could tell. Like, they're not New Yorkers. They're big stars, but they're not New Yorkers. Yeah, just. Just really thinking about it. We're probably thinking too hard about it, but that's what makes it fun. So appreciate all the Feedback and phone calls. A lot of people chiming in to 87799 on phones. Phones are melting. I think what we're getting to is like, you really don't have to be from the city to represent that city, especially in sports and entertainment. But, you know, there's a lot of people from that city that are proud to be from that city and they represent like. Like Eminem. Right. Eminem's from Detroit. That's what makes it an obvious answer. So what else comes to mind? I'm from New Jersey and I couldn't tell you. Do you think Frank Sinatra, do you think Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi? Like, I'm from Jersey and I don't even feel that way, to be honest. You don't feel Sinatra with Jersey? I feel Tony Soprano more than I feel Vegas and Jersey or Sinatra. He kind of splits both those cities. Yeah. And outside looking in, you're going to have a different opinion. Right. So it's kind of cool. But I think what happens is you get your friends together and whatever you agree on, that is the answer moving forward. Because generationally it's going to be different for everybody. The Minnesota one's a good one too, though. Fran Tarkenton, Minnesota. I like the game too. Just name a city. One, two, three. I love it. We'll do one more. Ready? San Diego. Oh. One, two, three. Tony and Tomlinson. Tony Gwynn. Tony Gwynn. Okay, that's the answer. I said Steve Garvey. Tony Gwynn for sure. I don't know how I didn't think of that. Do you know what? That's. What's it? That's what's it. Tony Gwyn not getting the credit he deserves. And he absolutely deserves it. All right, how did we get here, guys, again? Because it's Beyonce's birthday. She's synonymous with Houston and Piazza's birthday. He's synonymous with two cities he's not even from. You know, I got. I got New York and la. I got one only because it's a mid level market. My wife is from New Braunfels, Texas, right outside of San Antonio. Do you think Coach Pop is more of the answer than any of the guys that played on his teams? Because he's just such a staple and such a great guy for that community. Do you think, when you say San Antonio, do you think Tim Duncan, because he wasn't. Remember, he. He didn't have that charisma that other stars had. I would think Duncan. Duncan, though. He's still your answer. Timmy D. He's the guy I would think of. Yeah. I got one for you guys. Dallas in three, two, one. Jerry Ewing. Yeah. I said Dirk. Yeah. I don't know why I thought NBA. I should have said Emmett. Should be the answer. Emmett or Aikman, maybe. I don't know. I don't know. Did somebody say Jerry Jones? I said no. I said J.R. ewing from. That's a good one. That's a good answer. I did. I said J.R. yeah. Oh, really? Wow. That's a pretty good answer. Dallas. That's a good answer. Spot and I are like, right here. And that's a really good answer. So close to each other. Okay, so we will wrap it up with your phone calls and again, your feedback. Always welcome. Ovinoenrich foxsportsradio. Fun game to play with your friends. And we're gonna wrap it up with this Le'Veon Bell story. I guess we have more to get to, but I gotta tell you, this Le'Veon Bell story and what he did when he was on the Jets. Something you did when you were a kid. And that's synonymous with an anniversary that we're gonna tell you all about. And we do it next, Cavino and Rich, NFL football Thursday, right here on Fox Sports Radio. Saquon, I think he's over 100. You think he's hitting a hundo. So then you Camino goes over with Saquon. CD Lamb. I'm sort of liking over 80 yards because I feel like Dallas is going to be playing from behind at one point and this is going to be passing the ball. So I like CD Lamb over 80. Hey, link that up with Saquon over 96 and a half. And I hate to say this, also I think we got dak one or more interceptions tonight. Link that all up, make yourself some parlays. And Rich both said Robin youn why does it always go to our childhood and baseball? Because she should be like Giannis or you know, our baseball cards, you know, then you say Milwaukee, you know, Aaron Rodgers or Bob Euker. Yeah, we were thinking. Or Mr. Baseball played for the Milwaukee Braves 120 years broadcasting for the Brewers. Or you can say, how about Henry Winkler, the Fonz, like his statues out there in Milwaukee. Right. Fonz and Laverne and Shirley. Exactly. Are actually the two. How cool is that? Yeah, that was the backdrop to that famous, you know, series and the famous Happy Days Henry Winkler statue. So who is the face and representation of that city? And we talk Le'Veon Bell next I'm reading our feedback on the in show chat. Yeah. You could play along on our fox Sports Radio YouTube page. YouTube.conononrich FSR and Gabe Moreno hit us up and he goes, cavino Jersey, the situation. I bet you there's a lot of people that really think that they do. Right? Right. Generational. Like Pauly D. Who's been Traveling the world DJing, without a doubt. You know, he goes, when I think of San Antonio, I'll go along with Charles Barkley. I just think fat tortas. Oh, founders. Wow. It depends again, it's generationally different. Or did he mean the sandwich? Iowa, Sam. Besides you, because I think of Iowa. Sam Elliot from Seattle goes Iowa. I am now conditioned to think. Sam. Well, like, the only thing that comes to mind for me is the band Slipknot. I think Caitlin Clark. Yeah. You know, Elijah Wood was born in Iowa. No one thinks of that. Ashton Kutcher. Ashton Kutcher, yeah, that's the one. That's a good one. John Wayne was born in Iowa, but no one knows that. I'm going to go with Sam and Caitlyn Clark. Yeah. And Elijah Wood. You mean Elijah. You mean Sammy, sweetheart. Sammy, sweetheart. All right, so we'll wrap it up with your phone calls, and then we got to tell you this Leon Bell story because it's almost unbelievable. All right, say hi to Texas and Victor. What's up, Vic? Hey, how's it going, guys? No, I was just going back to Chicago. I always think Mike Ditka and those Bears, you know, it's funny. And Jim Kelly, bro, when you, when you just said. You think of Ditka, when we said Michael Jordan and Ryan Sandberg and we're naming those names, I did think of the bear sweater. Don't you picture Ditka and that sweater? That's very Chicago. Yes. So dumb Bears. Good. Say, we haven't been to Chicago in a minute. Been a minute. I think we're due. All right, so, hey, represent your city. Hit us up on social media. We'll take two more phone calls. The rest of you sit back, relax. Let's get ready for some football, Pete. In Washington State. Hey, Petey. Hey. How y' all doing, man? We're good, man. What do you think? You say you got one for San Diego? San Diego. For me, it's Junior SEO. It's a good one. Yeah, he was a face for a while. I think recently. He grew up in North. He grew up in north county, went to graduated Oceanside High School, and then he played for the Chargers. Yeah, you know, he was my dad. That's a good answer. I also said he was stationed there, and he said Junior Seattle meant a lot to the city while he lived there. Am I wrong in saying, obviously, the sports names, but. But is Blink 182 from San Diego or do they just play there? Don't they play? Is. Am I thinking the wrong band? I don't know who performs. I don't read your. I'm not at Mice Games. I thought you'd immediately jump. It was blink. It was blink. Yeah, they do, like, live performances there. All right, Tennessee, let's go to Jacob. What's up, Tennessee? Tennessee development. Tennessee, what's up, man? Thank you all for taking my call. Listen to you guys each and every day. Y' all rock, man. Absolutely. Amazing show. Thank you, man. Absolutely. You had asked me earlier, when I think of Tennessee, most people, you know, top three, top five, gonna put Peyton in there. But for me, being 45, I graduated in 98. I've never been a Peyton fan. And the reason being he couldn't get it done for me. It's T. Martin, because T. Martin won the national championship for us the year I graduated high school in 98, went 14 0. So for me, it's T. Martin. That's pretty cool. You know what? We'll wrap it up with this. You know, it's interesting. You say Tennessee. I do. I go all the way back to Peyton as a. As a Vol. But then I also just think of all the girls in cowboy hats and boots on. On Broadway. That's really what I think of when I think of Tennessee. Well, our McNair. Right. He said on a regular, he drives on a. There's a Johnny Bench, like, road and a Pete Rose Avenue or so he said, that's a good one. Street name statues. Shouldn't there be a Johnny Bench? Okay. With that said, let's go to Dan Beyer for an update. Dan Beyer, well done. Well done, Iowa. Sam. Oh, boy. Puts the podcast up. Check that out. But right now, there's a story I know you wanted to get to before the end of the show. Well, it's an anniversary, Rich, and we all grew up with it. A very famous show debuted today on this day in 1972. Debuted syndicated. Yeah. Well, it originally debuted in the 50s, but Bob Barker became the host of the Price is Right. Come on down. He was the host until 2007 when Jim. Jim Carrey. When Jim Carrey took over, guys. When Drew Carey took over. And I think everyone wanted to play Plinko. Everyone wants to spin the wheel. Any other ones you want to do the mini golf one? Oh, yeah, that was great. My grandma wanted a kiss from him. Now, there is a misconception that Bob Barker was the original host. He was not. But he did host again once. It was syndicated and it came back 70s till like 2007. Like Rich said, Bill Cullen was the original host, but debuted with Bob Barker on this day all those years ago. And the one commonality we have with that show is that our grandparents loved it. Yes. But that we all watched it when we were playing hooky. Yeah. Right. When we called out a school about the time the Price is Right was on, you started realizing, I could have probably went to school, but I'm gonna enjoy this show right now. The Price is Right was on. It was on at 11am Eastern where we grew up. So you're right. At 11am you're watching the Price is Right when grandma's babysitting you cause you're sick and you're like, I could have went, am I really that sick? Are my friends playing kickball right now? What are they doing? I wish I would have went Yeah, I could have probably went. But Price Is Right is fantastic. This is a hell of a show. Grandma Showcase Showdown. Pretty sweet. So we all loved Rod Roddy and Bob Barker and the Price Is Right growing up. You know, there's a guy that works here, Ian Roddy. Yeah. And I go, no joke, because we're in la. I'm like, any relation to Rod? Is that like your grandpa? He's like, who's Rod Roddy? If your name's Ian Roddy, how have you never heard of Rod Roddy? Ah, yeah. He was famous, right? Come on down. Ian's too smart of a young kid to not know Rod Roddy. I had to show him his sequence jacket. Now here's the Le'Veon Bell tie in. That's what we did when we played hooky when we were little. We didn't have a choice. I'm sure you have different stories as you got older, right? Former. This is according to, well, legend, because I looked it up. I'm like, there's no way this is real. But this article in particular is from Bro Bible. But I looked it up. It came right up. Former NFL running back Le'Veon Bell has claimed he once skipped the game, a game while playing for the New York jets to instead go bowling. And he probably watched Prices right after that. According to Bell, going bowling was better than playing in an Adam Gase offense. Come on. So he's. I'm like, skipped a game? Is that possible? It doesn't feel real. And I looked it up and it came right up. So, I mean, I. It's on the Internet. It has to be real. I don't know. This is. This is pretty crazy. This is worse than when you, like, your favorite player. You see him out golfing when he's on the IL and you're like, he's golfing Ozzy on the il. So I also think of the very famous Ferris Buelley. We're talking about Chicago and a proman. What did he do? He went to a Cubs game and he caught a foul ball. All right, so, like, what did you do? What was your best hooky moment? And do you have one like this? I know, Rich, didn't you get in trouble doing this one time? I got fired. Yeah. Like, you lost your job because you lied, right? Yeah, yeah. I. I was working in Syracuse and I got an opportunity to be on the radio in Philadelphia, which is a much bigger city than Syracuse, so my boss wouldn't give me the day off. I'm like, I need the day off. He's like, I can't do it. I'm like, I need the day off. And I'm like, I don't know what to tell you. I guess I'm sick. He drove to a wedding that day and heard me on the air in Philadelphia. What are the chances? And he's like, hey, listen, I like you, but you know I got to fire you, right? I was like, so you lied to your boss in Syracuse to be on the air in a bigger market in Philadelphia, which still isn't as bad. Still not as bad as skipping an NFL game to go bowling. That might be. That's why we bring it up. Like, I'd love to hear your stories and you can hit us up on social media at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio, but I think we got the king of all answers, at least right now. Like, you miss a professional football game, you know what every kid dreams to do in life, like play professional sports. You're the one guy you're blessed enough to do it. Bo Jackson famously got in an argument with Umpson, got kicked out of a game, remember on purpose to like go visit his kid or the birth of his kid baby or something like that. Yeah, it's a famous story. I wouldn't be shocked if this is happening right in the last week or so. How many guys do you think made some weak ass excuse so they could be at their fantasy draft? Like let's say their fantasy draft was like 8 o' clock on a Thursday. Honey, I just gotta cancel fantasy football. Well, that's the story. We're sticking to it. Enjoy your football Arima. Podcast: The Dan Patrick Show (Covino & Rich segment)
Network: iHeartPodcasts and Dan Patrick Podcast Network
This episode revolves around a lively, humor-filled debate: What celebrity, athlete, or public figure is forever the “face” of a particular city? Prompted by the coinciding birthdays of Beyoncé (synonymous with Houston) and Mike Piazza (linked with New York and LA), hosts Covino & Rich invite listeners to reminisce, argue, and advocate for who truly represents various cities.
Packed with sports nostalgia, pop culture riffs, and caller opinions, the conversation dives into generational differences, the meaning of "representing" a city, and what it really takes to embody the spirit of a hometown.
(Note: This episode is largely ad-libbed, high-paced, loaded with banter.)
On generational difference:
Rich: "You can go to your football party tonight and see if you match with your friends. It's almost like a game show—if you were partners, who would they say for Cincinnati? Is it Ickey Woods, Joe Burrow, or Chris Sabo’s goggles?" [44:55]
On the power of being “from” a city:
Covino: "If you could make the city forget you're not from there, that means you must be a megastar..." [1:12:29]
On New York:
Covino: "I think Rakim, Run DMC, Biggie, Jay Z… who's the king? I think Spike Lee is a superfan. But that King of New York photo—Biggie Smalls with the crown—that's iconic." [34:20]
On reservation about newcomers being ‘the face’:
Covino (about Ohtani): "There's a language barrier, and I'm not getting in that conversation. Like, how could he be...face of the game?" [36:45]
Memorable sign-off quote:
Covino: "If you could make the city forget you're not from there, that means you must be a megastar…That’s why it’s cool to put your city or state on the map!" [1:12:29]
