He'll take Your calls at 8-77-3, DP show Reggie Miller a little bit later on as we discuss the future of the Golden State Warriors. The artist formerly known as the Golden State warriors. The Jimmy Butler injury, and if you're Golden State, Steph Curry. Is this the way you're going to go out? Is this the way it ends in a couple of years and there's the possibility of maybe trading Jonathan Kaminga. But who are you bringing in and is that enough? In a very, very difficult Western Conference, Jason Garrett, who interviewed for a job head coaching job in Tennessee. He will join us on loan from Football Night in America, former Cowboys head coach. And the Giants already get a victory. They won the press conference apparently, yesterday with John Harbaugh. Harbaugh was introduced as the new head coach. And it's weird how if we looked at the Giants, let's say Brian Dable was back next year, we would look at the Giants and go, okay, there's potential. All of a sudden, you bring in John Harbaugh, and we're going, man, he could maybe turn it around like Mike Brable, maybe. You got, you know, similar situation there. And Vrabel, who is not as charismatic as his brother, had this to say about ready to win. John, how do you build a winning culture? And how long will it take for this team to win? The second part's impossible to say, but I'm planning on day one. So that's what we'll be shooting, will be working for, and fully expect it to happen. All right, I'm ready to go. The Giants going to get a turnaround. Feels like we have one or two of those teams every year. And he's also very excited to coach Jackson Dart. I'm excited about Jackson Dart, you know, and you build your team around your quarterback. I like the way he plays him. I like his talent, skill set, all the things he's accomplished. But more than that, I like. I like who he is and what he's about. To me, it's about football. I mean, this. This young guy loves football. He wants to talk football all the time, and that's kind of what I like doing, too. So I think we're gonna have a lot of great conversations, and I can't wait to get started with him. All right, he channeling a little gym Harbaugh there. He like football. I like talking football. We're gonna talk football. Yes. Seaton. How do you know that? Two days ago. Well, maybe that's all they talked about, was football. You like football, I like football. We're gonna talk football, it feels like. And. And let me. Let me rephrase this. He is. He's. He's not a character like his brother. He's got charisma. He's just not a character like Jim is. But great head coach. But all of a sudden, you look at the Giants differently, I think, because John Harbaugh. Because they're going to talk football, they're going to win football. That's what they do. By the way, Jim Harbaugh hired Mike McDaniel, the former Dolphins head coach, or at least he's going to Mike McDaniel. Now, the headline is is going to read differently than I'm interpreting this, and that is. Mike McDaniel turned down an opportunity to interview for the Cleveland Browns job. I think what he did is he took his name out. You know, sometimes you're not going to get a job, but you want to take your name out before somebody hires somebody and then you realize you weren't getting the job in the first place. I don't think they were going to hire Mike McDaniel in Cleveland. They've had a couple of candidates coming in for a couple of maybe their second interviews. Mike would have been a curiosity, you know, hey, come on in. What do you think of our quarterbacks here? What would you do with this offense here? And I think the Chargers did a great, great hire bringing in McDaniel to help Justin Herbert. And Mike McDaniel was coveted as an offensive coordinator. I think that's a great hire. And he goes to the Chargers. Brown's still searching for their head coach, but, you know, you still start with Buffalo because these Bills fans are not letting it go. They're looking for every angle. Is there a new angle with that interception? There's got to be. NFL Films put out an angle. It's not any different than what we saw over the weekend. What? Paulie, Dan. Not according to Bill supporters. Well, okay. Bill supporters need to have this realization. Your best player didn't play his best, and he cost you that game because if he makes a couple of plays, you win. That's it. You win it, it doesn't come. Don't blame the officials. Blame Josh Allen. Start there. He did not have a good game. Couple interceptions, an overthrow that would have won the game or put him in a position to win the game. A fumble at the end of the first half, that's on him. It's not on the officials. And it's easy to blame. And it's tough. It's tough to sit here and go, why aren't we playing this weekend? We are better than Denver. And maybe you were, except for Josh Allen didn't play like Josh Allen normally does. That's. That's the reality of this. There's no other way to spin this. You want to blame the officials and is it a tough call? Yeah, in the moment, I thought, there's no way that that's an interception. When they called it an interception, I said, there's no way they overturn it. And even Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow hasn't tweeted since August. Joe Burrow said, hey, get over it. The call was correct. Yeah. Paulie, Joe Burrow's tweet was the amount of people that don't understand what a catch is in the rule book flabbergast me. And it's not the officials. The two plays yesterday he talked about, the one in the Bears game and the Bills game were not difficult calls. And they got them both right. Yeah. So if I'm a Buffalo Bills fan, it's tough to swallow. This was your year. It cost you your head coach. Head coach reportedly had issues with the roster, with their gm. And I think that that's. That's a bigger issue where ownership and GM probably got together and said, wait a minute, this guy doesn't like what we're doing and we need to move on from him. Now, I'm paraphrasing there, but I wouldn't have fired Mike. I wouldn't have fired Sean McDermott. It's really hard to be consistently good in the league, and he was consistently good. Now you can say, is he going to be good enough to get us to a Super Bowl? I didn't think the roster was great. Well, who built the roster? Your GM did, but we blame. Oh, we didn't get to the next level. Well, who are you blaming? It's usually the coach. And we're. We're in a. A day and age where, man, what have you done for me lately? Kind of been good for a decade here. Yeah, but, you know, we had some fumbles and some interception. Yeah, but I did. I didn't do that. Yeah, but we got to blame somebody here. Buffalo fans may not like it, but don't be blaming the officials. Blame yourself, because you easily could have won that game. Yeah, Paulie, I don't think it's going to go that way for the Buffalo fans. I think they're going to latch on to this video and this play and this bad call in their mind forever until they win a Super Bowl. Like Dallas with the Des Bryant thing more than a decade ago. The further they get from the super bowl, the bigger this play will stick in their craw. Well, is this the modern day Scott Norwood Missed field goal now. Yeah, but you could blame it on somebody else. Yeah. Yeah. I just think it's going to stay for a long, long time. Yeah. Well, it shouldn't. It shouldn't. It's unfortunate, though, you know, with Sean McDermott, I mean, that that's an impressive resume. Who's coming in? Who is your guy coming in? Because he has to get to the FC title game. Right. Who's coming in in Baltimore you got to get to the AFC title game. I think the expectation level is crazy. Even Pittsburgh, you got to make the playoffs. And unless there's announcement of, hey, we're going to renovate here, where we, we got a retool here. But Pittsburgh's not going to do that. And the Chiefs will. You know, Mahomes will be coming back eventually, so you're still going to have to deal with him. Joe Burrow and the Bengals might stay healthy. Is Jacksonville for real? Denver is going to be there. Chargers coming back. There'll be an outlier that you go, wow, that team is on the, on the rise here. But these coaching, you know, when you start to point fingers, man, it's tough. Yeah, Ton. And if the league just recycles or recirculates coaches that just had a job, who is left that's so juicy. That is the answer in Buffalo, if they're not going to find some hidden character, hidden candidate that we haven't really already mentioned, well, you might find somebody, but you go in and what's the expectation level? You know, Robert Sala is taking over Tennessee. What's the expectation level? Five wins, six wins. That's about it. But if you're taking over a team like Baltimore with Lamar Jackson, a team like Buffalo with Josh Allen, we are making the playoffs. And how far are we going in the playoffs? Even Pittsburgh, hey, you wanted Mike Tomlin out. All he did is win. Got you to the playoffs. Maybe overachieved this year, but. And for the life of me, I don't know why the Steelers would say, hey, we're open to bringing back Aaron Rodgers. Shouldn't that be up to the head coach who hasn't been hired? So now all of a sudden, coach comes in, he'll be the bad guy, when really the front office shouldn't be saying anything about Aaron Rogers or just saying, hey, there's, you know, we're open to possibilities here, but. But the head coach and the GM should have that, you know, make that decision. You can't put that on a guy who hadn't even taken the job yet. All of a sudden, Brian Flores goes in. First question is, what are you doing with Aaron Rodgers? I don't know, like, not bringing him back. And if you are bringing him back, what's that say about, you know, your immediate future? Like, what are you doing? It's just the deep end is where the great teams are. You're in the kiddie pool, you're in a pool, you're just not where you need to be. And you bring back Aaron Rodgers. You know, that doesn't I. I don't have a. A rush of confidence when I go, yeah, Aaron Rodgers played okay this year, probably better than a lot of people thought. But if I'm Pittsburgh, I want to know, what is our future here? Who is our future here? And maybe you get Brian Flores in there, maybe Mike McCarthy in there. Okay, first thing I want to know is, what are we doing? Like, we're old. Who's our quarterback? What are we doing with TJ Watt? Can we trade anybody here? What do we want in the draft? Need in the draft. So there's all these questions, but it just feels like ownership, front office, if they're quick to move on, there is no patience. And some of the greatest coaches in history, they could have easily gotten fired into. In today's landscape, after two or three years, I could go back to Mike Shashevsky at Duke. It's like he would have been fired because nobody knew Mike Krzyzewski. And it's after, what, three years at Duke? You'd be like, I think we can move on from him. But having that patience to be able to see who that guy is, what that guy is, that's the hard part here. But some of these coaching candidates going in, it's tough enough. You walk in, it's like, all right, better be great. Okay, just got here, day one. Yeah, that's tough. But that's what Baltimore's done. That's what Buffalo has done. Pittsburgh, you know, that's Mike Tomlin stepping down. So that's different. But, man, it's fascinating, fascinating times for these coaching candidates and these teams and the expectation level. All right, Seaton, what's. Poll question for hour one on the program. By the way, the Giants, with a win already. They won the press conference yesterday. Oh, yeah, that's great. Good for you. Yeah. Would you rather be the head coach of the Browns or an offensive coordinator somewhere else? So would I rather be the Chargers OC or the Browns head coach? Just. Yeah. Any offensive coordinator gig. Yeah. I think Mike McDaniel needs to not reinvent himself, but I think kind of disappear and do what he does best as an O.C. i don't know. Do you want to walk into the Brown situation? Do you want to walk? I mean, the Dolphins might have done him a favor. By the way, did you see where the story actually came out when I got in from. You know, a source said ownership came in and fired Mike McDaniel right in front of another player. Darren Waller was doing an Exit interview and Stephen Ross came in and interrupted that to fire him. And my source told me that. And Darren Waller finally came out on a podcast and said, yeah, I was there. I saw it. Like, really? Can you wait two minutes? Yeah. Paulie, if Mike McDaniel joins the Chargers, there has to be a hard knocks or some type of TV show. Harbaugh McDaniel. It's like a guy from the 1950s hires a guy from 2020 and they're working together. Could be fascinating just listening to the conversation. They are an interesting duo. Yes, they are. That's a lot of personality right there. Yeah. Todd called it the NFL's version of stranger Things. You know, it's the upside down, like, weird and weirder. But I'm loving the dynamic of what's gonna happen. Who's Vecna? Who's Vecna? Seaton. You watched Stranger Things throughout. Did you watch all of it? I did, yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I stopped like two seasons ago. I watched because I made it this far and I was just like, I'm just gonna see it out. You know, I didn't really care for the last season all that much. But they, they had a phenomenal season. Like season four, I think maybe was really, really great. So then that kind of kept me through. There's either three or four of us. Really good. All right. Yeah. Vecna, we'll take a break here and we'll settle on a poll question. Phone calls. Always welcome. 8773 DP show. Carlos Beltron and Andrew Jones in the baseball hall of Fame. For years, I was the poster boy of the conversion therapy movement, the ex gay who married an ex lesbian and traveled the world, telling my story of how I changed my sexuality from gay to straight. Once upon a time I was on 60 Minutes, Oprah, the front cover of Newsweek, and you might have heard my story, but you've never heard the real story. So join me as I peel back the layers and expose what happened to me in the midst of conversion therapy to shine a light on what the ex game movement does to people and the pain it continues to cause. I had lost £150 because if I couldn't control my sexuality, I was going to control my weight. It sounded like, and this is the word I used, occult. Seaton, you want to give that analogy of Buffalo Bills fans to. They sound a lot like. I'm just trying to remember of another famous loss that a group of fans had a hard time accepting. Yeah, it's a, it's akin to the Rich Eisen show post Celebrity Family Feud. Not now. They were all of a sudden they were blaming the officials, they were blaming the refs, they were blaming us, they were blaming the fans. The lights in the thing were too much and the music. I couldn't hear that. There was a lot excuses, but it's just like, hey you guys. Joe Burrow tweeted after that. You guys don't know the rules. Sorry you lost. Yeah. Wow. Rich Eisen show post Celebrity Family Feud. It's very much like what the Buffalo Bills and their fans are. Are experiencing right now. Oh, you, you guys got away with something like the rules and stuff. So we're jumping around after Celebrity Family Feud like we're excited and we know we're on tv. Act even more excited and they're complaining while we're going. Yeah, you know, they're going, you got away with it. We cheated. Cheated. That should have been a catch. It was fixed. This is fixed. Yeah. Yes. Yes. Paul, from what I recall, there was no, there was a review by the refs at Family Feud. Fritzi said something and they said that's been used. And they said go again. Ritzy did what he was told by the refs. Yeah, we didn't make up the rules. We just abided by them. That's all. Blaming it. If You. Is there one play. It's sad, really. It is. That was sad. Is there one play in your team's history, though, that you can't get. You can't move on from, no matter what the sport is? Like the Cleveland Browns with Ernest Biner with the Fumble. Is there one play where you go, I'm. I can't. I can't move on from it. Yes. Marvin. Jimmy G overthrowing Emmanuel Sanders in the end zone in the Super Bowl. Okay, that was a sure touchdown. Yeah, man. Feels like everybody, or you know, that has a fandom, has one of those moments where you go, what's the one play that you wish you could do over? And everybody seems to have something like that. Yeah, Paulie. Mine's not a Chicago one. Mine is Notre Dame. USC 2005. Matt Leinert gets pushed in by Reggie Bush, which was illegal at the time and wasn't called. And that one still as a Notre Dame supporter. Yeah. What about you, Todd? The Broncos double overtime loss in Denver to the Ravens because of Raheem Moore let the Jacoby Jones get behind him in the final seconds of regulation, and then Denver ends up losing it in double overtime. 7 point lead, seconds left. And how do you let someone get behind you like Seaton? You got one. Well, I mean, if I'm keeping it to football. Well, the helmet catch with David Tyree was. That's a hell of a play. I don't know if that counts necessarily, but that was like, how the hell did that happen? You know what? Tom Brady dropping that pass against the Eagles. That sucked because that would have the whole. What do the Eagles call that play? The. Like, the Philly Special Special. Yeah, the Patriots ran that play first and Brady dropped the ball, and then the Eagles ran it after that and they caught it. And they get all of the credit for having the guts to play that. If Tom Brady had just caught that damn ball, they probably would have won the super bowl that year. Well, if you got a play that you can't move on from, you can dial us up. 8 7, 7, 3, DP. Show Dale in California. Dale. Dale. Hey, Dan. How you doing, brother? Good, good, good, good. Long time, first time car. 165, 62 years old. Thank you, sir. Hey, I just wanted to kind of comment on my Chargers. Couldn't be. We're super stoked out here of the creation of the new odd couple with McDaniels and Harbaugh. Really think that's going to take us to the next level. And with that, you know, I want to send my condolences to Fritzi. As the season went on, I really thought this was going to be the Broncos year, you know, just to get to the super bowl and lose to that other team we have out here called the Rams. But God willing, you know, with Harbaugh, McDaniel and hopefully get our offensive Pro bowl players back and God willing, keep them somewhat healthy over the year and add a piece or two. I, I think we'll be right there. All right, thank you, Dale. Yes, Todd. I appreciate the sentiments by Dale in California, but do not sleep on Stidy because Denver's coming, we still have the defense and Sean Payton's going to keep the offense probably in place. Here we go. Here is Mike Vrabel, the Patriots head coach on Jared Stidham. Ironic, you know, just speaking with his agent. They're like, well, if you don't want your starter to get hurt, hired sign Jared. Because that was before, you know, yesterday or two days ago. You know, just going back to when Josh had him and playing against that just. I think he sees things really well. I think he's athletic enough to extend like we talk about a lot of quarterbacks, accuracy. I think the decision making, you know, he's really decisive in the games that, that we went back and watched. And this is even going back to when I was in Tennessee as well. Yeah, Stidham was there in New England for a couple of years. He is highly thought of as a backup quarterback. But now you want him to be highly thought of as your starting quarterback going against the Patriots. Pete in Seattle. Good morning, Pete. What's on your mind today? Dan, so far this week it's been a terribly negative time for the poor NFL. All your calls the last two days were Buffalo's problems. Chicago didn't go for a two point conversion. Texas almost benched their quarterback. 49ers injuries. Even the Ram caller on Monday wanted to talk about Dodger baseball and Denver had injuries. It was a wonderful weekend, Dan. Of course it was in Seattle and you'll get that opportunity to have another wonderful weekend in Seattle. Well, we do you you on those Mondays we look at the team that lost. Normally you look at the team that lost because their season is over. Seattle will not get the credit that it deserves for this entire season until they get to the super bowl and win the Super Bowl. Not fair. But this comes down to your quarterback, Sam Darnold. We want to see if you can do it in a big moment, that's all. And then hopefully if he does it in A big moment. Seattle gets its flowers here. But this, this has been about the other teams and head coaching vacancies, those fired, those hired, and then it's oh, by the way, we got football coming up this weekend with Seattle hosting the Rams. And I've got the Rams getting two and a half against Seattle, the Patriots is still favored by five and a half in Denver. I have draftkings just sent me this early. Super bowl lines. If Seattle face the Patriots, Seattle against New England. Seattle would be favored by three and a half. If the Rams face the patriots, according to DraftKings, the Rams would be favored by three. If the Seahawks played the Broncos in the Super Bowl, Seattle would be favored by nine and a half. If the Rams played the Broncos, the Rams would be favored by eight and a half. No respect. Nope. None whatsoever. But Seattle and New England, they had been the betting favorites when the playoffs started to go to the Super Bowl. And Seattle would be a 3 1/2 point favorite against New England. The Rams would be a three point favorite against New England. Let's see Doug in North Carolina. Hi Doug. Hey, Dan. I have a biased question for you. As a lifelong Lions fan, I love Matt Stafford. He'll always hold a special place in my heart. I think he's truly a genuine guy. Conversely, I hate Aaron Rodgers. I don't think I've ever hated a professional athlete as much as I hate Aaron Rodgers. I didn't even hate as a kid that, that Russian who beat and killed Apollo Cree as much as I hate Aaron Rodgers. But my question is, if Matt wins the second super bowl, does he surpass Aaron Rodgers on that ranking of the all time greats? Probably not because of the MVPs. And you can talk to the old school football, you know, player or coach, and they talk about Stafford is like, now he's Paul Bunyan, like he survived, he was tough, you know, throwing the football. Like they, they do compliment him. They don't compliment him the way they do Aaron Rodgers. Roger. Oh, he's the most talented player to ever play that position. Stafford is. And then you find out that some of these newer quarterbacks admired Matthew Stafford. Like that's their idol. That's what's interesting. But Aaron Rodgers will be more highly thought of because Matthew Stafford's not decorated during the regular season. Not decorated. And Aaron Rodgers certainly was. And Rodgers did have the one super bowl, but. Yeah, another one. Yeah. Okay. But I would say Rogers would be more highly thought of. Yes, Marvin. And Stafford was never thought of as the best quarterback in the NFL. Where Aaron Rodgers was for a period of time. Yeah. Ryan in Detroit. Hi, Ry. Hey, thanks for calling me back again, Dan. Yep. Perhaps Doug is bitter at Aaron Rodgers because he's a Lions fan and was getting beat up all those years. But that's not the reason I called. My, my question to you is about all the coaching changes. And I think one thing we're leaving out is the impact of the fans, the owners. They're going to make all their money no matter what, and they keep changing. And I think a lot of it has to do with fan pressure because the fans really want Super Bowls. So all this change is, you know, likely part of that pressure, in my opinion. Well, I think all of these owners hope to win a Super Bowl. Certain, you have certain owners who expect to win a Super Bowl. I mean, Jerry Jones expects to win a Super Bowl. Doesn't mean he's close to doing it. Does Robert Kraft expect a Super bowl this year? I would imagine the Rams, Seattle, like you're expecting Super Bowls. I don't think you're doing that. In Tennessee, Carolina, Tampa, maybe Jacksonville, their expectations are heightened. But in, in Buffalo, you're expecting it. In Baltimore, you're expecting it. I don't know if it's anything new. I just think it feels like there's more coverage of the NFL, more opportunity for people to have insight or sources that talk about these things, what happened behind closed doors. You know, growing up, you never heard about any of this. Nothing. And we had a couple of insiders like Will McDonough from the Boston Globe, Jimmy the Greek, kind of, but it wasn't a thing. You just like, it's almost like there was a separation of church and state. Like, you know, we shouldn't be talking about those things behind the scenes. We should be talking about what you see. But social media, that's the big. That's, that's the big separator now. Now all of a sudden you can vent on social media now. Anybody can have their voice heard, and maybe that's what's different. But I don't know if they're, if you said to Buffalo fans, are you. How confident are you right now? I wouldn't be like, I don't know who you're bringing in. And is he going to be an Upgrade from Sean McDermott and how much time are you giving him? Because Josh Allen just turned 30. This is a tricky time. Lamar Jackson at his age and the way he's playing now, and you can say maybe the way he's not playing, injury prone, not healthy last couple of years seems like there's always a problem with him and the offensive coordinator. They come up small in, you know, in big moments who's coming in and you're going to change all of that. With the clock ticking on Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. They're not on rookie deals. They're going to have to extend Lamar Jackson. So you're walking in and it's one of those, it's like when you're, when you're jogging, you're on treadmill, and there's certain teams that the treadmill is like, all right, it's two and a half miles per hour. You're walking into Buffalo and Baltimore and it's probably on 15 and you're going to try to catch up to it. That's going to be really, really difficult. Imagine when you go in and it's year one and you go, oh, wait, we just made the playoffs. We didn't get the AFC title game. My expectations for Buffalo and Baltimore shouldn't change. It shouldn't. Nobody's taking a step back, but one of those two teams has to lose and not make the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh, you're coming in. We, it's a foregone conclusion. We're, we're going to make the playoffs right? Until they announce that they're not, you know, that they're going to renovate there, remodel, rebuild. Your expectation level is crazy. We'll talk a little bit about the Baseball hall of Fame because Andrew Jones got in, Carlos Beltron got in, and there's still a guy that to me should be in and maybe this is the year that he gets in. We'll talk about that coming up. Also, your worst moment, the moment you can't move on from, like Buffalo fans not moving on from the interception. We'll have that for you as well. The ex gay who married an ex lesbian and traveled the world telling my story of how I changed my sexuality from gay to straight. Once upon a time, I was on 60 Minutes, Oprah, the front cover of Newsweek, and you might have heard my story, but you've never heard the real story. So join me as I peel back the layers and expose what happened to me in the midst of conversion therapy to shine a light on what the X Game movement does to people and the pain it continues to cause. I had lost £150 because if I couldn't control my sexuality, I was going to control my weight. It sounded like, and this is the word I used, a cult. On business history, we tell the surprising stories behind the inventions and entrepreneurs that shaped our economy. And the story of the Beatle is truly surprising. It has so much in it, it has Nazis, it has the German economic miracle, and it features one of the most famous ads of all time, an ad that really redefined what advertising was in the United States. The calculation was that there was some number of Americans who were ready for something different, who were ready for something that was counter to the culture, if you will. Perfect timing. This is the play of the day. Check this out. Murray from 70. Got it at the hole. Hard. Let's go. Let's go. Oh, my goodness. What a flourish by Denver to end the first half. Denver has their big lead of the night. They're up 71 to 57, and they lost the game. That's courtesy of Altitude Radio Network. The Lakers rally to win at 115. 107. The Nuggets have blown four leads of at least 16 points this season. Play of the day. Play of the day, brought to you by. Oh, man. TSL. The Ultimate Series. The QM8K or QM9K. Best seat in the house. Great TV. We just got. I think that one that we have in the back is 98 inches. That TV a hammer. Yeah. Wow. TCL is the official TV partner of the NFL, and these TVs available at all major retailers. All right, our one poll question. Seaton. Yeah. Would you rather be the head coach of the Browns or. Or an offensive coordinator somewhere else? Do you want to get. You want to guess these results? 65% say an offensive coordinator someplace else. That's. That's kind of you. That's really kind of you. It's 82% would rather the offensive coordinator somewhere else. Well, I don't think Mike McDaniel was getting the Browns job, but the fact that if you look at the headline, he turns down or takes his name out of the running for the Browns job, and he decides to take the OC job with the Chargers. Baseball hall of Fame. This is what happens. We criticize who gets in usually. Like, really? Andrew Jones, Carlos Beltran. It's a different baseball world. This. This isn't the slam dunk. Of course he's a Hall of Famer when you have to go. Let me look at the numbers. Andrew Jones is top five greatest defensive center fielders of all time. Not a great hitter.254 average. But if we factor in defense at other positions like shortstop, second base, catcher. Here's center field. And I think we have a bias against center fielders. I think of all the positions in the Baseball hall of Fame is center field. Are there fewer center fielders in the Baseball hall of Fame than any other position? Could you check that? Because I started to think about who's in as a center fielder. Obviously, Willie Mays is. Yes. Marvin Griffey, and then I'm drawing a blank. Yes. But these are two center fielders. Carlos Beltran and Andrew Jones. Andrew Jones played on those great Brave teams and a great defensive player. Came up at a, I think, as a teenager playing in the World Series postseason. But I don't know. Did he have over 350 home runs? Carlos Beltran, Great hitter. Great hitter. Yeah. Paulie. I have hall of Famers by position. According to the National Baseball hall of Fame, the fewest catchers with 20. Everyone's about the same, though, with center fielder. Yeah, it's 26. Right fielder, 29. Left fielder, 23. There's only 19. Third baseman. So by the numbers, third baseman is the most rare. So Carlos Beltran, nine time All Star, three time Gold Glove. And there are four players in history to have 27 hits, 400 home runs, 300 steals, and score 1500 runs. Willie Mays, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez. So. This is the Brought to you by Panini America. So out of those four players, Willie Mays was the only one that wasn't under suspicion. I mean, Carlos Beltron was part of the cheating scandal in Houston. I like how. Well, it was only for one year. Well, I don't know. Where do we draw the line? Like, is that cheating? Worse than steroids? You know, I'm glad I don't have to vote, because you start to look at this and you go, all right, how do we separate this? Like, Jose Altuve is going to be a Hall of Famer. I don't know how much of what he did was due to cheating, but he was involved in it. Yeah. Seaton. Yeah, I do feel like there's kind of a difference. Maybe it's splitting hairs between introducing some form of technology that helps you know what pitches are coming versus someone taking steroids. Carlos Beltran was a great hitter. Like, I'm okay with that. Andrew Jones career batting average.254, lowest of any hall of Fame outfielder in history. But he won 10 Gold Gloves when it used. I mean, it doesn't matter now. Nobody gets caught up in Gold Gloves anymore. When's the last time somebody said, you know, like, Aeronauto, man, he's a gold. Okay. Great. But I don't know if it comes up where you're going. Molina, Gold Glove. But it doesn't come up that much anymore. And it used to be something that, you know, you took great pride in. Yeah. Todd, you're more likely to call someone a 5 tool player than a Gold Glove. That's even more special, more what people would say about a player. Yes, Paulie, going back to Altuve with Houston, he had six very good seasons. The problem is 2017, he was MVP. 2017 is the season they are caught cheating. Yeah. Yeah. I'm glad I don't have to vote. But I will say this. Steve Garvey, you know, deserves to be in the Baseball hall of Fame. A ten time All Star. I think his batting average, like he's a.294 maybe career hitter and I think he hit 50 points higher when he got into the postseason. He's a former mvp, four time Gold Glove winner, played for the Dodgers and the Padres. I'm missing something and I know he's up with the veterans committee. In fact, I think he's kind of front and center and they vote in December, I believe on that. Maybe he gets in then. I think Tommy John is also mentioned in that. Yes, Paul, again, 10 time All Stars in any sport make the hall of Fame. You can't find one that didn't. He also had two time NLCS mvp. He also won the All Star Game. MVP twice. Which I know is an exhibition, but it still goes on your resume back when the All Star game meant something. But ten time All Star, four time Gold Glove. Now I did talk to a source who said when Garvey's name comes up, it's like Benny Hanna. They chop him up defensively. To which I said to my source, well, he won four Gold Gloves. Yes. Do we often bring up things like NLCS MVP when talking about other hall of Fame candidates? Well, I feel like we do. I think you have to bring up the further away we get from your career. Yeah, I think we do. I saw Garvey, you know, in his prime and I think having that as an MVP 10 times, let's say just MVP and All Star. You don't have to mention what he did in the postseason if you don't want to or the All Star Game, that feels like that's hall of Fame. Yeah. Todd, could you be too handsome for the hall of Fame where the pressure is on the people making the bus. How could we possibly capture that? They don't have to worry about the big forearms, but you Got to get the face right. Todd, I'm in the Broadcasting hall of Fame. They probably should have not included you because it would be too hard to chisel. But we're looking at. All right, fair enough. Yeah. I just don't know that when we talk about, say like Bryce Harper, we're like, bust. NLCS mvp. What are you talking about? He's been great. I don't really see that as something that we bring up unless we are trying to use it as a metric. Should we bring up Gold Gloves? I don't know. There's a lot of them. But we do. I mean, you're gonna be like 10 time gold Glover. I mean, people definitely say that stuff. But I don't think anybody brings up who were Gold Glove winners this year. I don't think anybody cares. I don't know who was the NLCS MVP in 2024. Kyle Schwerber. You know, exactly. Nobody, Nobody knows. Nobody cares. But if we look back on the totality of your career, I would think that you would, you would want to single out those things. We, we talk about postseason with pitchers. So if you're great in the postseason as a hitter, then we should highlight that. I don't have any problem with that. Reminding people of that. Yeah, Paul, you could almost comp Steve Garvey a little bit. Derek Jeter, big market, very good regular season. Even better in the postseason. Yeah, but Jeter won a lot of World Series. That's the difference. Coming up, Jason Garrett. Talk about the pressure on whoever takes over in Buffalo and Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Hour two on this Wednesday after this. This is an iHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human.
