I did. I did. Twice. We did it earlier in the week because we would be running around, chasing around, watching my daughter sit the bench for Oregon and, and then, then we're going to turn back around and have some leftovers with Madman on The Bench on Saturday. So this has just been a. It's just been a. It's been a bench tour for me.

But it's all about the support. It's not about the playing town. It's about the support. So, yeah, so there's that. In between the traveling, we've done the Thanksgiving meal so that we could kind of all sit down. Man came in from. From State college last night for a few hours to get some food and get some family time. So that was pretty cool. It was cool. It's been a good holiday. What about yourself?

Well, yeah, we just, you know, hung out with the in laws, kind of, you know, just stuffed our face a little bit and. And that was that.

What y' all eat? What was on the menu?

Yeah, we did the bird. Did some ham.

But I know. I know the Italians don't make it through all of the, you know, all of the. The courses of meals before they get to the turkey, and then they're full before the turkey. Not my words as Dean Blandino saying that. So. Yeah, I don't know. I just figured you would say that. Plow through too many tamales or something.

The food is fantast. The food was fantastic. But I. I was shocked because it did feel like a home game. I'm looking around going, where's the. Where's the salsa?

Yeah, it felt like. It felt, you know, growing up sweet. But it is tamale season, so that'll. That'll start.

Yeah, it'll start. It'll. They'll start throwing it down here pretty quick, so. So there is that. Hey, I was thinking about Something. Watching the. The game just starting, you know, backwards from the last game to the early game. I'm watching the. The Bengals and the Ravens. And something occurred to me.

[LaVar Arrington]

What was it?

You and I on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, which you can hear before the Dan Patrick show weekday mornings here on Fox Sports Radio. You and I, we both had the Ravens going to the Super Bowl. And it occurred to me last night, watching that game, they kind of stink. They're really not. They're just not very good.

[LaVar Arrington]

They're not good anymore.

[Jonas Knox]

What happened?

[LaVar Arrington]

I don't know. I mean, we just talked about there shouldn't be enough defense in the world for. For Cincy to be able to win in Baltimore against that offense. Not enough defense in the world, let alone Cincinnati, to go in there and do it. There you go.

[Jonas Knox]

Yeah, it's just.

[LaVar Arrington]

It's the. It's the Joe Burrow effect, though. Like, he's like everybody's kryptonite, you know, sort of this and.

[Jonas Knox]

And the thing. And. Look, I don't know that Joe Burrow. Look, obviously it doesn't help their defense, and that's really been the problem for Cincinnati, as we've laid out on our show, that Joe Flacco's played well. Like, it wasn't like he was struggling.

[LaVar Arrington]

While he was in there, but he's not Joe Burrow. Yeah, it's the Joe Burrow impact. The effect.

[Jonas Knox]

Okay, so that's a really.

Yes. That's a real thing. Okay, let me ask you this. If you were. If you were going into a game with, I don't know, just say it's a really good ball player that's backing up Kobe Bryant or a really, really good ball player that's backing up Michael Jordan. And you go into the game knowing that MJ or Kobe is out of the game, do you feel the same way? Do you have the same type of confidence level that you would if. And maybe you don't know this. I don't know. Maybe you got to be an athlete to know. But you can. You can assume, right? You can assume. You can assume what?

Why'd you. Ryan Clark me? Why do I gotta be Trager? Damn. But point taken.

[LaVar Arrington]

Here's the point.

But here's the point, right? All seriousness, you're going to have more confidence when you have your best player on. On the field, and especially at the main position. If you have your guy at his position. They know Joe Burrow as the guy that took them to the Super Bowl. They know Joe Burrow is the guy that should be a league mvp, probably last year, if not for, you know, the heroics of, you know, other guys, which, I mean, it is what it is, all right? But that. That does have a positive, profound impact on the rest of your team when you have the guy like, you know, let's back Lat's back, like, you know what I mean, You. It definitely does have an impact, and clearly that's a thing because they lose games. They what? They've only won one game without Joe Burrow. When Joe Burrow's out, they've won, like one game. One or two games. I believe it's one. So, I mean, it. It's a real thing.

And that was.

I believe it is.

And that was one of the storylines going into the year for Zach Taylor and them was the starts to the season, because that's. That had always been an issue. They would get off to these poor starts. Their record in September was awful. And then it'd be scrambling in this mad dash to try and make the post season like they were last year. And that's why they've missed a couple of years in a row that. In his health. And so this year, well, we're going to have him play in the preseason. We're going to make sure we come in, and there's not a lot of rust. They come in, they start off the year two, and you're thinking, all right, well, at least the plan worked. And then he gets hurt. And then they just went in this downward spiral. Joe Burrow, after the game, talked about his return last night in Baltimore.

[LaVar Arrington]

Had to knock some rust off there in the first half.

[Jonas Knox]

So I expect myself to play better, but it was great to be back out there. I was, you know, a lot of emotions running through it at the end of the game. So it's just good to be back with the guys. You know, anytime you can get a big win like this, it's. It's exciting. And guys work really hard for this. You know, we are where we're at, our record, but guys work really hard to go out and put on good performances on Sunday. So when you're able to.

[LaVar Arrington]

To do that, it feels good.

[Jonas Knox]

I mean, they would need some things to fall their way, but it's a.

[LaVar Arrington]

Lot of pressure on them to try to get in there. I mean, but think about it. If they. If they went out, they get in. That's a lot of pressure. But at the end of the day, I don't. I know you're going to go into like scenarios like what needs to play out for them to be able to make the playoffs. Just win, just win, just keep winning. There's enough games left that if they just keep winning, if they go on a tear and take over the second half of the season, which is very, very possible. Right. This Bengals team has so much time, talent on it. They didn't even have Jamar in this game. Like, think about that. Yeah, didn't even have him. And they still go out there and serve up an ass whipping and didn't even have their, their main receiver. So you get, you get Hendrickson back. I'm assuming he'll come back and, and, and continue to be healthy. You, you, you'll get your, you'll get some elements of your defense as a better defense moving forward. You'll have your, your weapons on offense. They might take over the second half of this season and could be a team to beat heading into the postseason. They could very well storm back just based around the idea that, that the Steelers will give away a game. The Ravens, they're giving away games. I mean, I don't know if we call it give it away. I don't. Again, they don't look like they're a very good team. And the Steelers, I know they, they play without Aaron Rodgers, but the Steelers, if Aaron Rodgers injury can't, you know, get rectified to the point of where he's comfortable, I don't know how that all works out with his, you know how that works. But this is not the same team without, without Aaron Rodgers. And I don't know how good they are down the stretch, honestly, if their running game isn't, isn't up to standard of what a Steeler running game should be heading down the stretch. So it aligns for Cincinnati to be able to not only climb back into it, but they could take it over and win it. They could win the AFC north because it's not a very competitive, strong AFC north this year.

Yeah. And I mean they've got a couple of division games left. They've got Baltimore again and then they've got the Browns. They're three in one of the division. They've got the best record in the division. So it's, look, it's a long shot. But if they do go on this run, because they're at Buffalo coming up next week and we've seen, look. Yeah, the Bills have not looked.

[LaVar Arrington]

Yeah, they're not the same.

[Jonas Knox]

So if, if they were to go on this run and let's just say, you know, for hypothetically speaking, they get into the postseason there, that's a problem, because that's a team with, you know, and we'll get into the Kansas City conversation as well, but that's a team who gets into the AFC playoffs, and all of a sudden, I. I think they've got the best quarterback in the.

[LaVar Arrington]

Playoffs and receiving tandem.

Outside of Dallas, which I know we're going to get into that. Outside of Dallas, who has a better, more loaded receiving core?

[Jonas Knox]

Nobody.

[LaVar Arrington]

So, I mean, they could potentially, like I said, if they catch fire this second half of the season and they stay healthy and, you know, they have. They've had enough things not go their way. They have a few things go their way, this Cincinnati team becomes a. A real interesting prospect, a real interesting horse. Do you put your money moving down the stretch of who's going to finish out? They have. They have the ability, they have the experience. They have the understanding of how good they can be because they've made it to the super bowl. So. And they are one of the teams that have proven that that Kansas City kind of before now, that that unbeatable, that unpenetrable Kansas City team there, they can be beat. That was Cincinnati. That was proving that.

Yeah.

[LaVar Arrington]

So to me, it's an interesting conversation because they can get on a run. It was confirmed that Joe Burrow can make the difference in how this team carries out a game plan. Whether he plays defense or not doesn't matter. It's the impact and the energy of knowing that you have your guy back. And all we got to do is step our level of play up, and we step our level up, then it's going to go up for the rest of us as well. And Joe's going to do what he needs to do, and that's exactly what you saw happen in this Ravens game.

Now, the Ravens conversation is a separate one because Baltimore look trash. Yeah, there's something off. John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, was asked about potentially maybe health being an issue for Lamar Jackson and had this to say. I just think you try to do the best you can from play to.

[LaVar Arrington]

Play and game to game to execute and make plays.

[Jonas Knox]

Fully healthy.

Yeah, he's fully healthy to play.

[Jonas Knox]

Yeah, absolutely. So that's more like. Yeah, we're just trying to get through it. You know, he's. He's always on the injury report. There's always something that pops up. They just don't look good, man. And. And if we're being fair about the situation, like the Joe Burrow's been out for a significant amount of time. The conversation about the defense is one thing. We're now two thirds of the season in. You kind of are what you are at this point, right? As the great Pete Prisco would say, you are what you are. And Baltimore's just. They look like a mediocre football team, and I know they've been on a little bit of a run lately, but last night was alarming. They were a seven point favorite at home on a short week against.

[LaVar Arrington]

We took them, too, didn't we?

[Jonas Knox]

I think I might have taken Cincinnati, I think.

[LaVar Arrington]

Did you really?

[Jonas Knox]

Yeah, I got to look into that. But, I mean, it was a lot of points. I thought, well, you know, listen, I'll, I'll. I'll ride the momentum of Joe Burrow, but I, I mean, I didn't think it was going to look like that.

Did you? Moneyline Ben, The Bengals?

[Jonas Knox]

I don't know. Probably not, if I'm being honest. Probably not.

[LaVar Arrington]

I just. I just were where we're at right now in the season. I am so fed up with people disappointing the idea that, that the good teams get better and the bad teams are very wildly inconsistent. I thought we would see a wildly inconsistent game from the Bengals and we would see a Baltimore Ravens team continue to apply themselves and, and, and bring a level of play that says they're getting themselves into form for what's taking place. The. The interview points that you hear from Harbaugh, the things that you see take place with, with this team, the surrounding them is largely, in part, they are a very inconsistent football team. That's not the type of team that can ride that, any type of momentum into a postseason aspiration to try to win a Super Bowl. That's what the Baltimore Ravens are right now. Why are they, this team? It's very perplexing. I don't know. I don't know who has the answer for it. But the question to me becomes, where is Harbaugh as a coach in his tenure with this group? If this is all you can get as a result from your team? I think it raises a lot of red flags if I'm moving forward in terms of what is. Has. We keep asking the question about the Buffalo Bills. That's gotta be the number one question coming out of that game yesterday, because there's really no apparent reason as to why you could come to a strong, positive conclusion that the Cincinnati Bengals would have a decisive, dominant victory over the Baltimore Ravens. In Baltimore, if you didn't seem like.

If you would have told me that a Cincinnati went in there and they squeaked one out on a, on a field goal late. Evan McPherson hit a, you know, 50 plus yard field goal and they win that game. Oh, man, you know, big. But it's like, hey, but you made the point earlier. That was a beating last night.

[LaVar Arrington]

That was a beating, that game.

[Jonas Knox]

Like, they, like Cincinnati fed them their ass on national television for everybody to watch. And it looked like a shell of what the Ravens were last year. The. Like, Lamar's not looked that bad in a long time and it just turning the ball over. No answers. They just, they stopped running the it, which you've got all that. I know this. And there's been injuries and there's been all this stuff and key players have been out on defense for their. I get all that. But you still do have Lamar Jackson like you. You still do have talent there. It's not like. It's not like you were down your number one wide receiver like the Bengals were, and that game wasn't close. Like, if, if Cincinnati converts, you know, instead of kicking field goals, if they, you know, convert a couple of more touchdowns and Joe Burrow isn't working through the rust, who the hell knows what that game looks like? Like, that was, that was an ugly performance. And yeah, I do wonder at what point, because, you know, it's the same thing about Mike Tomlin. It's the same thing about, you know, Sean McDermott. It's like, man, there's been a lot of success there, but it hasn't quite gotten to super bowl yet. Like, it hasn't quite gotten to, hey, well, you know, they lost in a Super bowl and you're not hearing any of that stuff about, you know, Andy Reid, you're not hearing. But for some reason, the Ravens don't look the same, the Bills don't look. It just something's off there, man. And I just wonder with Lamar's mobility and the way his style of play, you know, when do we start having the discussion, has he peaked as well, too? Because he's taken a lot of damage. He's been out there and those hits add up. And I'm just wondering if we're at the point in his career where the athletic ability can't carry him the way maybe it did in previous years. I don't want to overreact, but that did not look good. And this season hasn't looked good for that team.

I don't know that you could call it an overreaction at this point to have criticisms towards any aspect of. Of the Ravens team or their game. Right now, I don't think anything is off limits. Maybe Hamlin, maybe that might be it. But otherwise, I think they're. They're all. What?

I'm trying to get some answers here, and I got to know what's going on there in Baltimore. That's all.

So you're saying he has to cleanse the facility of this possibly happening on the road at the facility? I mean, you know, it's possible.

Yeah.

I just, you know, I would know. I got an extensive background on people being inappropriate in locker rooms, you know.

But, yeah, it's. They have not looked good all year, and so I. I don't. I know there's still the overwhelming favor to win that division just because somebody's got to win that division, but I. I don't know.

It's the inconsistencies for me, man. Like, they're all inconsistent. Every last one of them are inconsistent. There's no way to put a tag on any of those AFC teams. No way. Like, I'm curious to see what. What Shador does on Sunday, because even the Browns are in the conversation. That's crazy. All four teams are in the conversation as poorly as they have done. They're. They. They could all be in the conversation. Maybe the Browns don't make the playoffs based on where they're at, but they can make a run for it. And, and imagine what that conversation is if they go on a tear with Shadora at, at quarterback. So now Stefanski may save his job. Boom, here you go. You go into an offseason with the momentum of what Shador Sanders has done as your starting quarterback. You got, you got one of the best defensive ends might break the record. He's on, he's on record watch for most sacks in the season. And Miles Garrett, you have pieces now. You, you instead of going for a quarterback with that top pick, go after a receiver, go after a couple receivers in your draft, go after some offensive linemen that can be like anchor offensive lineman for the future of, of your team. Go for those aspects. And now you have a lot of excitement building around the Cleveland Browns. You look at Cincinnati. Cincinnati, all they need to do is address their defense. That's all they need to do. And now they're, they're right on their way. The, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Balt Ravens may have the biggest questions surrounding them moving into the future out of any of the other teams in the AFC north, and they're the ones on top of the AFC north, which is very interesting because how much time do they have? How much do you have? How much time do you have in Pittsburgh before you really see what, what this roster really truly is? How much time do you have in Baltimore before you see what this roster really truly is? How much time do you have?

[Jonas Knox]

And, and also, look, if you're cincinnat like, you know last night, you're out there dealing and Joe Burrows working off rust and T. Higgins is out with the concussion and all that. Like, you get him back. Joe Burrow's got a game under his belt. Like I'm telling you, he's the best quarterback in the division in my mind. And it's not close like at this, he's the best quarterback in the division. Especially with Lamar's health and all that. If they, like if he's got his full complement. I know it's, I know it's 13 to 1 on DraftKings for them to win the division. I just, I'm looking at it going, maybe it is possible. I don't know. Maybe it is possible. And then that being said, they could come out, they get their full complement of, of of weapons around Joe Burrow and they get annihilated next week. I don't know. I mean, it's just, it's one of those things. It's inconsistent as hell, but it's the AFC North So there's a. I think.

It makes it, I think it makes it very interesting moving into, moving into where we're going because it is. They are, they have been such amazing teams, such amazing franchises for, for the National Football League, for the afc. They've built the reputation of the AFC North. I mean, all these teams have built the reputation of the AFC north, but the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ravens have been the gold standard of the division and they've been a gold standard for the National Football League as well. It's interesting to see where these teams, if that, that legacy, if that tradition that they've built through the years, the decision makers that are in play now because there are different, different decision makers at the GM's positions that aren't historically a part of the successes of this, these teams, these franchises, can they write the ships? Can they get these teams going in the right directions? And how, how, how much time is it going to take for them to be able to do. Seemed as though Pittsburgh may have pulled a fast one on us. They got out to the type of start that would make you consider that the steps that they took this offseason weren't worth looking at and, and criticizing. I know I was very critical. It looked as though they got off to a different type of start. But you know, to me now, I don't know, man. I don't know about the Pittsburgh Steelers and I don't know about the Baltimore Ravens and, and I don't know that there's any indicator other than saying for Baltimore you have Lamar Jackson, but you asked a question that's a very legitimate question. Has he hit his ceiling?

He's an all the way homer. He. He did.

He did point out it was probably something he stole from Jim Nance's notes, but he did point out yesterday that the Cowboys, in the span of four days, beat the last two teams that were in the Super Bowl. Yeah, I mean, it, look, it's something and I don't know if it results in a playoff spot. I don't know if it results in, in Dallas making, you know, making a run at this thing a la potentially Cincinnati. But the defense looks better and they've slowly gotten better and better throughout the course of the year. And the offense has been, you know, clicking for majority of the season. I mean, Dak Prescott's been fantastic and, and Dallas with another big win. Another big win. Who needs Micah Parsons? You know what I mean?

Well, Micah Parsons is doing what he needs to do where he's at as well, by the way. But that doesn't mean that one has to be untrue, you know, or one has to be. Yeah, right. One has to be untrue for the other to be true. You know what I mean? Like, Micah is what Micah is and they see the impact of that in, in, you know, Green Bay, but you can see the impact of what decisions have been made for, for the Dallas Cowboys. They wanted to shore up the center of their defense and they did. So it's a, it's a very, very stout interior defensive line for, for Dallas. They feel like they can get, get away with it with, with, you know, veterans like Clowney on the outside. It's worked there's balance there. They're. They're getting solid play from the secondary. And like we mentioned, Dak Prescott is playing at an MVP level this year. They don't have the type of running game that. That would say they should have the type of success or balance as a total offense, which they've usually led with the run, but they were able to run. They. They got a nice touchdown run out of. I forget the. The back's name, but Tall back, fast back. They had a nice run from him out of the. But they have largely, in part, been able to cut people up with their passing game. And Pickens and CD Lamb are. That's. That's his. That, to me, that is the best receiver tandem in all of football. And it's amazing that. That Pittsburgh would get rid of him based off of. I get it. Whatever it is that that was going on there, they. They didn't want to deal with it. They unloaded it. I get it. But a DK Metcalf. Pickens is the best wide receiver tandem in the National Football League. I'm wondering what is the common denominator here. Pickens is now in, In Dallas. Dallas has the best receiving core in all of the National Football League. You would have had that in Pittsburgh if you have Pickens with. With. Who am I talking about? With dk DK Metcalf.

[Jonas Knox]

Well, I think. I don't know if they were going to be able to make both, both. Both of those work. I mean, they could financially, but I think that, you know, Pickens had kind of run its. Run its course there.

[LaVar Arrington]

How.

[Jonas Knox]

Look, that's a fair question. This might be. This might be the one receiver that got away from the Steelers where you're like, man, maybe should have held on to him. Like, they've got a history of knowing when to turn the page on receivers. And maybe George Pickens is, you know, in a contract year, so he's looking at this as an opportunity to get paid and then he goes back to his old ways. But he's awesome, man. Like, he's, like, he's been awesome for the Dallas Cowboys.

[LaVar Arrington]

If we're being honest here. Like. Like, here's a very real moment, okay? He. I know the. Because he's a draft pick to them, and the emotional connection to CD Lamb. You'll say CD Lamb is the main guy. I would challenge you today and say that the main receiver, the most dangerous weapon on that team is Pickens. It's Pickens, then it's CD Lamb. And I'm not trying to Turn this into a thing. I'm just telling you, your, your most dangerous weapon on that team right now is George Pickens.

Yeah, he's got the CD Lambs, the more consistent receiver, but George Pickens has got some freak to him. Like, there's, like, he. Like that. Well, that play that. I don't mean like that. That play that, That he made where. That we listened to, where he hurdled over the. Like, I thought he was going to take that to the house, and I don't. Look, CD Lamb's a great wide receiver. He's one of the better wide receivers in the league. But George Pickens does some things each game, and he was doing. Look, he did that in Pittsburgh, where he would do things in a game where he'd make a grab and you go, how many guys in the league can do that? And then two plays later, you know, he's getting in a fight. Like, it's just. But he's that, like, he's the perfect Cowboys wide receiver, George Pickens, like, he's, he's perfect for that team.

[LaVar Arrington]

I, I think he. You. Here's the interesting thing, right? George Pickens in Pittsburgh, he. You hear reports come out of the locker room. You, you hear little things said by the head coach about, you know, conduct, how, how he needs to take steps forward as a person or whatever it is that was being said. You hear former players that, that weighed in and commented on George Pickens, and, you know, dude is a malcontent. This, that and other. I haven't heard one single thing after all. And, and, and mind you, Dallas has no problem trying to create these storylines because they did it to Michael Parsons. So let's not act as though it can't be. It can't be the environment that you're in. Sometimes more so than the player may be. It makes me wonder, is the environment. Was the environment toxic for Micah Parsons for them to be talking about Micah Parsons? Was the environment toxic for George Pickens to be talked about and handled the way he was being handled in Pittsburgh? It doesn't mean that you can't go to another place and be accepted and, and received in a different way, in a different manner? In which where you came from doesn't mean that it's a organization, doesn't mean that Dallas is bad, even though their record and their. You know what? It would say that maybe they're not great, but with Pittsburgh, you're not going to say, okay, this is a bad organization. They got it wrong with George Pickens. But there could be the possibility that they did not get it right with George Pickens, whatever it may have been. There could have been something that was resolved. There could have been some way to, to, to talk through it in the end, end, in the end they are pros and it's about production and that man was productive in Pittsburgh and now he's super productive in Dallas and you've not, you've not heard a word about, about George Pickens in Dallas in terms of him being cancerous in the locker room, him not being about football, him being a malcontent. And the same goes for the guy that departs started Dallas. You haven't heard anything out of any, anybody or, or any types of reports. And Green Bay with Michael Parsons. So sometimes it's just a matter of having a new environment and having a fresh start and, and that's what they did. But I tell you what you made, you got upset for, for Cleveland trading Joe, Joe Flacco to, to Cincinnati. You should be upset that you gave George Pickens away to any other team that had a number one receiver of the caliber Lamb. Damn. That's what you should have been upset with. Why you give, why you give Dallas George Pickens and they have CD Lamb and they're going to have both of those guys on the same team. I know it's on the other side of the division but God dang, who cares. You might have to deal with them because of how good those two are together on the football field.
