You know, I'm a shooter and a maker, too. There's a lot of guys who are shooters, but not necessarily makers. And I always focus on the sound. There's something about it whenever you made a shot when you were in high school or grade school or college, and if it made the net, zip like that was pure, like that, that one stays with the defensive person. It's like, damn. You know, there's certain guys, like when Steph Curry makes it, he makes it, and you really made it when it makes that sound. You couldn't make it any better than that. Yes. It's like. So I'm watching Texas Tech in Cincinnati last night, and I'm listening to the Mrs. And it's clanking. The rim was terrible. Now, there's certain places around the country, and I don't know if it's how they mic the rim or how it's affixed to the back backboard, but it was. I had to turn. I had to turn it off. It was so annoying that whenever you miss and it's almost a reminder of, yeah, you missed the shot. You really missed the shot. I get echoes and it's clank. And I don't know why any team would put up with that. If I'm on that team, I would say, we gotta. That has to sound better. Now you can say, why don't you make the shot? But I'm listening to the game, and it's almost like the sound of metal bats when you're watching the College World Series. And I hate that, too. But watching Texas Tech in Cincinnati, and every time when somebody would put a shot up, I was like, I didn't root for anybody, but I was rooting for the ball to go in. So I didn't hear that clank. The things that bother me. Yeah, Paul, coincidentally, I text you guys. I was also watching this game, Tech versus the Bearcats. This kid, Christian Anderson, was awesome. There was a loose rim feel like a tink when shots were Missed. I just went back and listened to it. I think it's over miked, really? Because it's very loud. When guys were bricking shots off the rim, there was like this loose, tinky sound. Yeah, but if we go out into the field house here and we shoot hoops, you don't hear that sound when I shoot. You do plenty of. Plenty of bricks. Yeah, but no loose. Yeah, yeah. I mean, there's a lot of guys missing a lot of shots here, especially Marvin. There is something about that rattle that you hear that sounds like the rim is going to fall off at any minute. And it's almost sometimes like, I missed because of the rim, not because of me. I don't think you get a shooter's bounce or shooters roll on rims like that. But for some reason, there's certain places in America where you go, man, that sounds weird that when you miss. And how maybe it's miked, I don't know. But that strikes me as odd. It feels like just. And everybody should have universal equipment. You would think, with the rim and the backboard, I would think that has, you know, that maybe they're selling it. You know, the same company is selling that product to all of these, you know, universities here. But maybe it is how, you know, the rim is. Mike, Maybe somebody who works in the industry of micing up rhythms, maybe somebody at Texas Tech can tell us about that. Because I hated it. You know, it's one thing to miss, but then it's, oh, man, you really missed. Like that sounds like a brick. When somebody shoots a brick, you go, damn. You know, it's like you're Ben Simmons or Angel Reese when you're shooting, and it's like, man, it shouldn't sound that bad. Yeah. Paul, do you think there's something different with the structure of college basketball rims these days? That it's a little looser for dunks or something? No, because they have those rims that collapse or they have a little bit of give, or at least they used to, where if you dunked, it would come down a little bit. So if you were doing it with authority, then you might have some give to the rim. Yes. Seaton. I think you hear it a lot, actually, in the tournament. You. You hear. Because you're playing in so many different gyms all over the place. You hear that a lot in the NCAA tournament. That loose rim. I hate it. Hated it. Then we'll read between the lines with some of these GMs and coaches at the combine. I also have odds, baseball odds for Al, NL MVP and the World Series odds that DraftKings just sent to me and I'm falling in like with a player who plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates, not necessarily Paul Skeens. They have a 19 year old who hits bombs and we'll talk about that coming up. How long is every time you see a player with certain franchises you go, well, he's not going to be there very long. What's his name? Connor Griffin. Connor with a K from Mississippi. That is right. Do we have one of his home runs that he hit yesterday? We sure did. Okay. You know, I love the sound when Otani hits a home run. Jock Peterson was another guy that. It just sounds different. Well, listen to this kid. Ball here for Connor Griffin. That is up towards the Green Monster in Long Gone. Second home run of the game for Connor Griffin. If you don't know the name yet, you will soon enough. So they're wondering if he's going to make the team. He should hit third. He bats seventh in the lineup and it sound like somebody got shot when, when you hear it play just the sound again. Marvin. Wow. He's 19, he's 64 and he's a shortstop. He also steals bases. And, and, and you know, when you start to think about it, I grew up in an era where the Reds and the Pirates, you know, the Dodgers, they were the class of the National League for the most part. And you just, you knew they were going to be there in the playoffs every single year. The Reds and Pirates, they had battles and you know that's long gone. And you had, we are family. You had the big Red machine, you know, certainly the Dodgers with, you know, Garvey and say and Lopes Russell and I miss that. Now the Dodgers of course aren't going away. They are the preeminent franchise. But with Cincinnati, you're kind of on the cusp of making the playoffs every year. The Pirates just a curiosity when Paul Skeens pitches. But you do have talent there. I just wish you could keep the talent there. And I'm not smart enough to know this, but could I get some kind of equity group to come in and say, how about we spend money almost like the collectives that you have with college athletics, with football, where you say, hey, we're going to, we're going to spend $35 million. You know, look at BYU spending all their money on basketball. There's certain, you know, Liberty did this with their football team. Could somebody do that with the Pirates? Come in and say, all right, give us 48%, 49% of the team and we're going to make this a powerhouse again. We're going to keep all this talent here because it's a wonderful stadium. You stay in downtown, you walk over the bridge and it is, it's a great, great ballpark because it took in the vista, it took in the city. But you know, I can't help but watch and go, you know, Roberto Clemente is not coming through the door. Or if he is, he's not staying long or Stargell or Al Oliver, Rennie Stennett, Manny Sanguillan, I mean, there's so many great, great players who played in Pittsburgh and I thought of that. This is a 19 year old kid. I don't know if he's going to make the roster. He was the minor league player of the year and what's his future? At what point do you say, I'm going to trade Paul Schemes? What can we get for Paul Schemes? Well, you get more draft picks and then you start over again. Are you going to get a chance to play in the playoffs? Because I think if you're a Pirate fan or you know, it's like the Steelers, hey, we had a winning record. Well, that's not good enough. But for the Pirates, if you have a winning record and maybe you get a chance to play in, you know, the playoffs, you would accept that with the Steelers? No, we win championships. Well, the Pirates won championships, but it just feels like two different avenues because you have a salary cap in football and you don't in baseball. But I don't know if you could have an equity group come in and go, you know what we're going to spend, we're going to keep our talent here. In fact, we're going to go out and get some players here. Yes, Marvin Connor Griffin needs to be on the COVID of the media guide. Right now I'm printing out jerseys with his number and name on it all right now. Well, you got to make sure that he makes the roster. Who's going to be in front of him? I, I'm just. You know what, it's, it's spring training. Baseball. Sorry. I got passionate about the Pirates. Yeah, spring training Baseball. Garth Brooks got a base hit, I think, in spring training, didn't he? Remember Charlie Pride? The. He was African American, country singer, switch hitter, too. And he could. He could hit. I think he had a base knock maybe off Jim Palmer. Can you check that? Checking. Did Charlie Pride have a base knock off the Baltimore Oriole hall of Famer Jim Palmer? I gotta get a life. Yes, Paul. So this kid, Connor Griffin with a K, when I saw that he's got to be an SEC baseball player with that name. He, He. He was committed to LSU. Of course, he's from Mississippi. He was hit 5:37 in. In high school. He was also the best pitcher in the state at 7 and 1, but he doesn't pitch anymore. Yeah, but why not? Why not? Here's your Ohtani. Yeah. Kotani. Let's go. Oh, bloop. Bloop. Yes. And his first name begins with a K, you know. You know, striking out people. But he's 19 years of age, and those are. He had two bombs yesterday. Play one more time. See, now, that sound I like. Unless I'm a pitcher, because when you hear that sound, you go, God, I'm. I'm giving up one. And it. Everybody heard that. I'm giving up one. It's not one of those. That might be. It could be. It's like, how far? Yes. That's one of the worst things when you're pitching in a baseball game is you throw a pitch. Oftentimes there is a, like,.25 of a second where you think, oh, crap. Because you see where it's going, and your last memory is that sound, and the trajectory of the ball going off the bat into just a horrible direction. And you just stand there like, oh, God, do I even want to turn around right now? This is awful. And Greg Maddox once told me, I said, what's a home run sound like? He said, a car crash. Yes. Todd, if you were pitching and you heard that sound, are you more likely to turn around and watch it or you don't even want to look? If. If I know there's a home run fence, then, no, I don't need to. Unless you go, man, I, I got to admire that because, you know, in a conversation with Maddox, I. I said, would you rather give up the One that goes 301ft and just trickles over the fence or goes 450? Goes, oh, 450. He said, Hey, I. I'll admire it. But of course, he didn't give up many home runs. He could say that. But, man, I love that. Sound. Yes. Paulie, which do you. Are you more bothered by the Texas Tech rims or in love with the Connor Griffin home runs? Well, I'm gonna go positive. I'm gonna skew positive. But, man, I gotta tell you, though, I turned off the TV because of the sound of the rim last night. Terrible. Terrible. All right, do we have a poll question? You know what? We'll wait until after the break. That'll keep people in their car. Yes, yes. Marvin, you're. You are correct. Charlie Pride famously hit a single off of hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer during the Texas Rangers spring training game. Okay, all right. I still got it, you know. You got it? Yeah. I mean, not consistently, but yeah, I still got it. I can. There's moments. Yeah, yeah. Like, I'll get a quality start. I'll go like five and two thirds. I only got a few to give. Yeah, I can't go nine, but I'm gonna give you five and two third words. Pulling in hour two, segment three. I'm sorry. That's essentially a sixth interview. All right, how about we take a break and we just kind of reco. Recollect here our thoughts and we'll hear from some of the GMs. You know, they're talking about topics that are really important or even more important at the combine. And the GMs are available. Normally they aren't. And this is where I love when they get in front of the media because they normally don't get in front of the media. And what are they going to say without trying to say anything. Take a break back after this. Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick show. We'll get to those phone calls coming up. Seaton, do the honors with the poll question for the first hour. Might as well start right there. More annoying sound in sports. A tinny, loose rim in basketball or metal bat. And baseball. I don't really know if there's another sound that's comparable to those two for how irritating they can be. Okay, well, we only think about the tink when we're watching the College World Series. The rims. And maybe this is just during March Madness, but I would say the rim bothers me more than the aluminum bats. I get it. Because, you know, if you have wooden bats and then you know the cost of them, where you can use aluminum bats and you're not breaking anything. The rims. There's no excuse for those rims to sound like that unless they're over miked. And we're still waiting if somebody, you know at Texas Tech or you know, whoever mics those, you know, rims. Do you have some sound from last night, Marvin? Okay, lead on the road games. Two for two from three for jizzle. James. But that's a made shot. First shot of the game. Donovan. Outlaw slam from Lawan Watts. I need misses, Marvin. So that second shot was a miss. Oh, I could. On the highlights. I couldn't find very many misses. Oh, yeah, but just the sound alone, even from the makes weren't great. Yeah. Yeah. Paul. The I team has learned that the. Which is also obvious, but I confirmed that the networks Mic up the rims. Oh. So the mics around the, the backboard will be done by whatever network is broadcast in that game. That could be a variable. Hmm. So it depends on how you mike the backboard in the rim and getting that sound. I can get that sound anywhere. Yes, but we don't know if that also the rim was loose that we're checking. Well, you can't have a rim being loose as soon as you hear it. If you're shooting shots, first thing you say when you go out and you're at an opponent's floor, first thing I always look at is the rim. And I look at the background, you know, shooting background there. And then you listen to the sound. So that seems like it's obvious that you go, well, that sounds weird. That sounds loose. And, you know, maybe it's because I didn't miss shots that I didn't really hear that clanking of the. The rim. The older I get, the better I was. Marvin. You know, just saying. I hear you. You think Dame Lillard put on a show? Well, in my day. In your day, yeah. Okay. You know what? You're one of those guys. You know, I was just born too early. That is true. I was born before the three point shot. And then when they had it in high school, I go, this is embarrassing. Like it, it's just a, you know, a foul line or top of the key jumper. Ah, what could have been. What could have been. But then I might not be here, you know? Yes, Paul, we've received a few other nominations for worst sounds in sports. Remember vuvazelas during the soccer? I don't know if those are still active. Oh, they're got to be coming back. And thunder sticks, which are often in baseball, those are terrible, too. American Vuvazela. Yes, yes, yes. Eaton. So I wasn't including those because those are fan sounds. Those are not game sounds. You know, you can't, you can't get rid of the metal bat sound because it's part of the game there. You can't get rid of the rim sound because it's part of the game. Okay, all right, that's fair. Yeah, I, I'm, I'm okay with the tink of a baseball bat. Aluminum bad in the World Series. I don't like it at all. But that rim, that bothers me because you can fix that. I can't fix aluminum bats, you know, unless they come up with a different sound or, you know, a way to deaden it a little bit. But the rim, you gotta fix that. Your. Your. Your. Miss. Can't sound that bad. I mean, it shouldn't sound that bad. Clank. Yes, Mark. The mix didn't sound any better. Yeah, yeah, I got. I got some issues here. This is my life, you know, Just letting you know. I'm watching Texas Tech. I'm watching Pirates spring training, baseball, and then I'm watching Texas Tech in Cincinnati. No, nobody. Yeah, everybody has it better than me. Dan in Florida. Hi, Dan. What's on your mind? Hey, good morning. Well, it's tennis players after they hit a shot, particularly the women's game. Going back to the Monica Selles error. Isn't sure if that was someone exhorting after hitting a ball or if it was an animal sound being made. Yeah, that could be annoying. Yeah, but there are some guys who do that, too, so there was somebody who used to do more of, like, an owl, too, where they would, like, what? How is that the sound? Al Lighter, former pitcher, now works for MLB Network. He used to grunt every time he threw a pitch. Famously went. He did that. I don't know if that was the motion scene. There's only one motion to make when you're making that sound, and it's this. Yes, Paul. Victoria Azarenka is the. Who. Very good player. Victoria working for. And then Sabalenka is more of a grunt. Oh, Murger. Max in Michigan. Good morning, Max. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. Danette. Good morning. I would have to go with noisy rims on the poll question being the most annoying. And I gotta confirm that Texas Tech's rims have sounded like that for, like, 20 years. Oh, okay. We do have emails into the Texas Tech athletic department. Can you imagine? You can fix this. Or they walk into the office today, like, all right, yeah, you know, big game against Cincinnati last night. Wait, what is this? What's. What's. What's Dan talking about? I want to know about those rims. I want to make sure that this doesn't become an epidemic here. Should be a crisp sound, those rims. It doesn't feel like you're getting a shooter's role there. Trip in Vegas. Welcome back, Trip. What's on your mind? Hey, good morning, Dan. With the combine coming around, I created a combine for you to do with Fritzi. So it'd be three events. The first one would be you would tell him to answer, ask him the question, and see if he could remember the answer. The second one would be a connect the dots, like abc, since he can't fly to the super bowl without going through the wrong city twice to get there. And then the third thing would be an obstacle course. You're just gonna set up a hotel room, See if he can walk around it without getting hurt. It's actually a really great idea. We should do hotel Olympics. Are you up for combine? Those are all fair challenges. Yeah. I don't know if I would do very well. I think I would be picked towards the bottom. That would hurt my stock. When this show is over, do not become a vacation planner because you're going to say, hey, you can save, like, $7, but you got to fly to Atlanta and then you fly to Vegas, and then we'll get you to Boston at $7. You can get a big kit kat or a snickers at the very expensive airport or of sparrow pizza with. With pepperoni. You could probably get. You could probably get a topping for seven. Yes. See, what is it that they do in the combine? Like, I feel like offensive linemen do it. Is it like the shuttle something maybe where they go side to side? Oh, they sort of make that back and forth. And they go back where they go forth. Or three cone drill. Or maybe it's three cone drill. I feel like that's what Todd has to do in his hotel room where he gets out of bed and then does that lineman shuttle all the way to the bathroom and back or something. But instead of cones, one thing would be, like low main. One thing would be like a pizza. One thing would be like a big deli sub sandwich. And then that would make it a little more fun for me. Yeah, but you did get hurt in Vegas where you tripped over. I did. I had one of those weird. I don't know what that thing is where you sit on to maybe tie your shoes. I don't even know what the purpose of it is. At the foot of the bed. And I just went flying. Might have been an ottoman, Maybe some. Some type of item that should not have been there. And I just. It wasn't invented by the hotel. It's often at the end of beds. To me, it was a silly thing that shouldn't have been there, but no excuse to go flying in the middle of the night. Did you just realize it was there in the middle of the night? You didn't see it during the day? I saw it, I guess during the day. I thought I, you know, thought I got around it somehow. I didn't realize it was sticking out that far. And it just caught my ankle. The. The Ottoman empire there. Yes. Some people asking if the doink of a Field goal is a bad sound or not. I don't find it to be annoying. It's a bad sound if your team just achieved that sound. But it doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it just kind of resonates. It stays there. It's like, dang. Because you're, you know, you don't hear the goal post until somebody doings one and you're like, oh, okay. That's what it sounds like. And a double doink in there as well. Kevin in Tampa. Good morning, Kevin. What's on your mind today? Hey, long time. Met you one time when I was in broadcasting in 88, 89, I think. Anyway, I was shooting Gators basketball games, and I kept getting migraines after, and I couldn't understand why. It turns out the squeaks, all I hear are the squeaks of the shoes. Oh, I like that. I grew up when. When you would have that NBA game on Sunday and it was always the Sixers against the Celtics, and you would just hear that I liked it because it. It almost sounded like you were hustling, therefore, that I was always looking for that sound to make it seem like I was really hustling when I probably wasn't. And they were wearing those Adidas, and those were awesome. The bottom of an Adidas shoe. It was, you know, that. That had great crisp, squeeze, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak. I had the Converse. I had the Chuck Taylors. I didn't get too much squeak out of my shoes. John in Wisconsin. Hi, John. What's on your mind? Good morning, Dan. Good morning, Dan. F. I got another annoying sound. Now, I realize this is very local, being from Wisconsin, I am a Green Bay Packer fan, but that annoying, stupid Minnesota Vikings horn that they gotta blow every time something happens. It doesn't matter if it's a touchdown or field goal. Oh, the team's coming on the field every time. It's annoying. Thank you, John. Thank you. Well, you're a Packer fan, so you probably don't hear it that often when you're playing against Minnesota. Yes, Paul. It does get used a lot at Vikings games, and it's almost. Another one suggested was Mississippi State football. A cowbell. Cowbell. It's. It's both branded for them and also, well, Sacramento Kings with the cowbells that drove Phil Jackson crazy. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The USC band. After every first down, you'll hear that. You know, they'll play the fight song. I mean, you got to space it out a little bit. I'm sorry. If you convert like a third and four something. Maybe not, but, you know, you get a third and 16 and you, you know, convert it. All right, we can do that. Great fight song. And any reason to show the cheerleaders there at USC never change that. No, no. Great uniforms. Stephen Raleigh. Good morning, Steve. What's on your mind today? Morning, Dan. I'm 11. I find that the. I don't know. I live across the street from courts, and the ball hitting a pickleball paddle constantly is. Well, if you live. You live across the street, then I get that. But I like the sound of. Of a crisp shot with pickleball because the back room guys. And thanks for the call. The backroom guys play usually a couple of times a week. It's kind of nice to come in and hear some crisp, you know, athleticism on display here. Marvin will be out there playing right handed, even though he's left handed, which I still don't understand why you do that. The Ben Simmons, a pickleball, and the guy who looks like the least athletic is the most athletic. And it's Dylan. Dylan is deceptively good. Absolutely. I think 60 pounds ago. He's a real athlete. He's sort of our John Daly. You know, where you go, that guy can't be good. But Dylan. Dylan's got some athleticism. And. And. And, you know, the back room guys don't hand out compliments to one another, but they do acknowledge that Dylan might be the best athlete back there. Brian in Milwaukee. Hi, Brian. What's on your mind today? Good morning, guys. Is that a compliment for Dylan? Have you compared to John Daly? I. I don't know. Speaking of Dylan and I listened to Todd's podcast yesterday. Those two guys did a phenomenal job. So I just wanted to call and say that in that we usually get like, what, 20 seconds of. Of Todd. And then before you say, thank you, Todd, you got 40 minutes of it. So I know if Fritzi was lightheaded after talking that fast that much for 40 minutes. Wow. Okay. So you and Dylan did a Todd cast. We did. It was a lot of fun. We're going to do another one. If not later today, in the coming days, we're going to do another one. And I don't even remember what the topics are. We just kind of. We're riffing, and we had a lot of fun with it. 45. Enjoyed it. 45 minutes. I didn't even realize that. They just start talking. Next thing you know, it's 40 minutes flew by. Speaking of a sound that's annoying and There it is. Good. Count as most annoying sounds. Oh, no, it's counted. Everybody here. All right, now I gotta throw up my camaraderie. I gotta throw up the white flag. I apologize. I called usc. They had cheerleaders. They have song girls. Song girls. Dang. My bad. The heck? My bad. UCLA over here. The song girls. My bad. Please accept my apology. What? Paul, actually, that person is also wrong. They're the USC spirit leaders, Dan. They're spirit leaders. Spirit leaders. Spirit leaders. Spirit fingers. Well, that's not good. According to the USC website, the Spirit of Troy is the band. And then the USC spirit leaders, a co ed cheerleading team that has been igniting trojan pride since 2006. Igniting my pride for a while. Right, so they also have cheerleaders and the song girls. There's multiple things going on. Okay, Song leader. Really? And yeah. Song person. Song person. Sean in Indianapolis. Hi, Sean. Morning, Dan. Good morning. Got a sound for you that I don't hear very often when I'm playing the game, but when the ball rolls into the cup and golf. Yeah, it's a great sound. Unfortunately, I rarely ever hear it. Yeah, when you. There's sounds of the ball going through the net and it just zips. But if you make a long putt and you know it's one of those where it's rolling the anticipation and everybody is watching and all of a sudden it goes into the cup, that's pretty good stuff, too. We want to find out this rim situation that made me turn off the game last night because of the sound. The I team has been working on this investigation. The motto of our news team is we don't break news, we sprain it. Let's go to the newsroom. Paulie. Dan, we woke up some people at Texas Tech this morning, literally with one guy. Jonathan Boutros, the deputy athletic director, got right back to us. Johnny. Johnny Boutros oversees the entire basketball program there, as does fine work. Okay. We asked him. We said that you notice a loud, tinny, clanking sound when shots hit the rim last night. And we are debating whether it's the rim or the mics or other. And we asked that they would commence in a quick investigation. Okay. We're waiting for investigation confirmation and a statement from Texas. They're scrambling the gym. Thank you and I appreciate that. Stat of the day, brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. Eric in Colorado. Hi, Eric. What's on your mind today? Hey, how's it going? 5 11, 300. Yeah. Hi, Mom. Hey. One of the best noises in sports has got to be in motorsports, man. Like the. The pit crew. Like when they're changing tires and that. That camera view when they're zipping by just going. That's my favorite noise of all time, almost. All right, well, thank you, Eric, and thank you for providing the sound effects there. Kent in Michigan. Hi, Kent. What's on your mind? Hey, fellows. One of my favorite sounds to hear and one of the sounds I hate at the same time, depending on perspective, is that smack that the ball makes in the catcher's glove on that finally thrown Tarek scubal pitch. So, you know, it's. It's a. It cuts both ways. So. Thanks. Yeah, the sound, you know, if you ever stood at the plate and somebody throws really hard and it just echoes when it goes into the catcher's mitt, it sounds even more impressive than maybe what it really is. And there's certain catcher's mitts that give you that said they amplify that sound. It's like, damn. Or you take a third strike. So you've already got the pitch that you don't swing at and the umpire ringing you up. So you got the sound going into the catcher's mitt and then you got the umpire going, hey, ha. And you're like, let me drag my bat back to the dugout. Yes, Todd, I've. I've had it done. Both to me. But is it more embarrassing to take strike three or you just started your swing. When that ball hits the mid, it's like, how late are you with the swing? I think that could even be worse. Well, if you take it, then you didn't even get your bat off your shoulder or you thought it was a ball. You know, maybe you hit the corner, but if you just started to step into it and it's already passed you, it's horrible. David in Ohio. Hi, David. Hey, Dan. Speaking of worst sound in sports, being a Steelers fans, when that welcome to the Jungle comes on when the Bengals play it, when something good happens and they play it, I've been at the stadium before and they play it and just. I cringe every time, every time I hear it. So that's my sound. I do not like. All right, Kyle in Mississippi. Hi, Kyle. Hey, Dan. 62250. Yeah, South Carolina football has a screeching gamecock sound after every touchdown that's just absolutely miserable. Well, coming from somebody in Mississippi, when you. Yeah, when you play them, yeah. There's certain sounds that you welcome or you're familiar with or you like. But then if you're a visitor to that arena or stadium, it's like, God, I hate this. Like the Bulls. Whenever the Bulls in now and then they would have the Alan Parsons Project. Was that the artist with the introduction? I always thought, you know, Gary Glitter, but he had Rock and Roll part one. And it's Alan Parsons Project that came up with the introduction music to the Chicago Bulls. And every time I hear that, like you can hear that song first time you hear it or you hear it on the radio, you're like, oh, the Bulls. And then you actually hear the entire song and you go, oh, it's. It's a. A song by the Alan Parsons Project. Let's see. Eric in Oregon. Hi, Eric. What's on your mind? Hey, Dan. Six foot, 239 and feeling fine. Thank you. I was listening to your comment about the SOU during the NCAA games, and I'm actually hoping to go see some of the games at the Modus center, the arena that the Portland Trailblazers play in. So now I'm curious to see if there is a difference now that they'll be in an NBA arena. But also I wanted to give a quick shout out to a friend of the show, Reggie Miller. Back when I was watching basketball a couple years ago, I remember just not liking Reggie. I just didn't like his commentary, didn't like his flow. Maybe it's just because he's Reggie Miller, I don't know. But he's made me a fan. And he did such a good job during the All Star weekend. The interview with President Obama was great. The three point contest, everything was just spot on. So shout out to Rich. Yeah. And you know what's been great with this show? And it has to do with the people coming on the show. Sometimes it can be a launching pad. You know, Joe, Joey Votto is being hired by NBC for their baseball coverage. And I think in large part because of the personality that he shared with us when he would come on the show, he was always great. Ross Tucker getting an opportunity to do football games based, I think in large part because he came on and had a great sense of humor and great knowledge. And Reggie as well. People didn't hear Reggie probably that much when he was playing. We gave him a platform and he took advantage of it and became the lead analyst for NBC. Mike Florio starting his, you know, his own podcast, his own show on Peacock. So that, that's fun to see when, you know, people get an opportunity, take advantage of it, and then, you know, get an opportunity for something for themselves. Yes, Todd. Kind of like OPRAH Creating the Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz's. And all of a sudden people have their own shows because they came out with you. Yeah. Gayle King. Yeah. Yeah. Keith in Virginia Beach. Hi, Keith. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. Six one and a hard 240. Hey, Dan. Well, one of the sounds that I love to hear, I'm gonna get your thoughts on is I remember back in the playoff game when Brett Farr, the Packers played the Cowboys and Brett Favre threw that ball and I could hear the whistling. Even though I was on tv, I could hear that whistling sound in the wind and the sound that Dion, when the. Dion caught it in a session, the sound that it made when it hit him. And I was wanting to get your thoughts on. Like when that whistling sound when Elway throws a ball, throws a ball and when they hit those receiver hands, that whistling sound that you hear, even though I'm at tv, I can still hear it. I wanted it. Have you ever heard that lie? Have you ever heard the way the Elway or Brett Favre No, I didn't. I didn't hear it. But I'd hear it hit the hands. I'd always hear it hit the hands. Paulie, do we have an update from Texas Tech with their basketball rim situation? Of course we do. They sent a staffer down to the gym to check the rims before they're going to give you any statement. I'm absolutely serious. Can they have somebody shoot a shot? Miss a shot? But we can hear that clang. That may be a lot to ask, but we will ask. Okay. Feel like we've already infringed. Yeah, but let's not stop now. It's the it One hour in the books. Who knew a topic of conversation would be watching Texas Tech basketball last night and the rims and how badly they sounded? And Connor Griffin with a K with the Pirates with a couple of bombs. What's in store for hour two? Who knows? Fritzy Seaton, Marv Polyers truly were back after this. This is Julian Edelman from Games With Names. I want to take a second to talk about something that's personal to me. I've had the privilege of working closely with Robert Kraft for a long time, and one thing I've always respected is how seriously he takes up standing up to hate. As a Jewish athlete, my identity is something I am proud of, but I also know what it feels like to be singled out for it. That's why this new commercial for the Blue Square Alliance Against Hate that aired during the big game really hit home. It's about showing up for someone when they're targeted, even if you don't have the perfect words. And sometimes standing next to someone is enough and you can show support by sharing the Blue Square.
