You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio Hour 1 on this Wednesday. Morale is high. The Danits are ready to go. The minister of humor, Fritzi Seaton, Marv, Paulie, yours truly in the back room, guys. Already had our breakfast. Dylan whipping up some bagels and eggs and leftover meat from yesterday. I don't even know what it was. That was good, though. That's a. That's the way. I'm not a breakfast guy, but that's the way to start a day right there. That was good. All right, we're ready to go. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk Live will join us coming up next hour. There's a lot of things to discuss, NFL wise, because you got some players that are going to be released. You got Free agency. The draft is coming up. You got a transitional tag with Daniel Jones. The NFL surprises you every couple of years, and you go the commissioner's exempt list. I didn't know that existed. The Colts have placed the transition tag on Daniel Jones. That means we're not going to franchise you. We're going to let you seek other offers if you want, and then we get to have the final say if we want to keep you. So it's. It's kind of like saying, we like you, but at a cost, at a price. Because Achilles surgery in the off season and you're not quite sure what you were going to get. We saw that in the first, what, nine, ten games of the season. He played really well. The Colts were one of the top stories in the NFL. Then he gets hurt. Now are you going to pony up how much money? And I think he's going to make around $37 million if he comes back to the Colts. That one year deal for $37 million to maybe prove yourself again and then get another contract. The move that I'm really curious about or the next move for this player is Kyler Murray. You know, my good buddy Kyler Murray. Because if I look back when he first started with Arizona, those first three years are respectable. I'll run down the numbers here. First year in Arizona, he completed 64% of his passes. He threw for 3, 700 yards, and he had 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions. He was the rookie of the year. The next year, completed 67%, threw for 3, 900 yards, 26 touchdowns, 12 interceptions. All very respectable. The third year, he completed almost 70% of his passes. He had almost 3, 800 yards, 24 touchdowns, 10 interceptions. We're good. And then they signed him to the contract extension. Then all of a sudden it was 66% completion, 23, 100 yards, 14 touchdowns, seven interceptions. Now there are rushing yards to go along with this. And then all of a sudden the next year it was 10 touchdowns, five interceptions, and 1800 yards. Now, he did come back in 2024, almost 69% completion, almost 3900 yards, 21 touchdowns, 11 interceptions. These are all respectable. So there's 1, 2, 3, 4, 4 seasons that are respectable that most teams middle of the road and lower would go sign up for that. In fact, a few teams in the upper tier might go, hey, I'll take that any day. Then you had last year, he completed 68 and he threw for under a thousand yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions. Now they, of course, he was a healthy scratch. It felt like, and they were done with him. Now the question is, what Kyler Murray can you get? Can I bring back what he was those first three years? Four of his first six years, Very respectable. But a team like Minnesota, you got him inside, on turf, you got some receivers. We like Kevin o' Connell as a head coach. Maybe that is sort of his reclamation, because we see this, and we're going to see this again this year. Like, who is this year's Sam Darnold? And maybe we just named the award after Sam Darnold because it's the Reclamation Award goes to. And maybe it's Daniel Jones, but you have some of these players, you know, Geno Smith might end up in Minnesota, end up starting in Minnesota. So you have a couple of the. You know, is Tua Tua will be a reclamation project. The question is, will he be good? Where is he going to land? Is he going to be a starter wherever he goes? But Kyler Murray, to me is fascinating because I think it might have been last year where I said, I just feel like he's going to end up on the Jets. And I don't think that's a bad thing, because I do think Kyler Murray is better than any other quarterback who was going to be coming out in the draft, aside from Fernando Mendoza, maybe the Dolphins. But it feels like Malik Willis is the front runner there in Miami. But if I got Kyler Murray now, do I want him in a big media market? Not necessarily. He doesn't put himself out there. I don't know how approachable he is. Does he. Does he want to do interviews? Does he want to be the face of the franchise? But then you have that. That negative, that cloud that's always going to be hanging over him. I don't know if he wants to be great. I think he's so talented he can be great. But I don't know if he wants to be consistently great or better than that, a leader of a Hall of Famer. I don't know if he wants to do that. And that's what would make me take pause. Do I think he has the talent? Yes, but he's always had the talent. I just don't know if he has motivation. And when they have to put something in your contract that says, you got to study, man, that. That blinking light is not going off anytime soon. And that's what would make me nervous. I don't know if he wants to study. He wants to be the first guy in, the last guy out. And I know it sounds like a cliche but for him, it. It shouldn't be a cliche. You got to shake this reputation, and if not, then go play baseball. But he's had so much talent that in high school, if you look at his high school video, it's not fair. Even in college, he was electric. But when you get to the pros, I don't care how good you are, I don't care what position you're playing. You have to then put in the time, put in the work, because now you're playing against equals. And for Kyler Murray, I would certainly kick the tires on him. If I'm the Jets, he's not going to cost me a lot. Or if I'm Minnesota, he's not going to cost me a lot. But can he give me an upgrade? And I would say yes. But you have to have that meeting with him where you say, and you have to look him in the eye, as I once did, and you just have to ask him, tell me how you're going to lead this team, tell me why we shouldn't believe anything that we heard with Arizona, and then let him tell you. I believe he can show you, but I need him to tell. I need to hear it. I need him to actually believe the words he's telling me. Not a Johnny Manziel combine interview where he's going to be. What do you. Well, let's see. What do you need? Yeah, and then I'll ask him about his wife. And then. What's his wife's name? Mary. Yeah, yeah, I'll ask him about Mary. They're going to love this Kyler Murray. I just want to know, do you want to be great? Are you willing to put in the time? And Daniel Jones, you got a one year deal that you're going to have to prove yourself again. You get $37 million, which is kind of where I see him anyway. I think he's in that, you know, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, three years, 100 million. But coming off the Achilles, somebody wants to come in and pay a little bit more. But then the Colts, they got rid of Anthony Richardson. So you. You don't have real negotiating power. I don't think with Daniel Jones, if he decides he wants to go, go someplace else, somebody gives him a better offer, you don't want to match it. And then the Colts are back to square one. But the Kyler Murray situation, I think Bears watching. We'll talk to Florio about this. And you know, you're going to have pro days coming up. You're going to get artificially inflated where you're going to go, oh my gosh, did you see that guy on his pro day? Happens every year. And you gotta really be cautious. You almost have to remind yourself, okay, let me see what he did on Saturday. Not on a Tuesday in Bloomington. 877-3-DP show email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle @DP show the World Baseball Classic getting underway. Todd
to word this one. I'm not sure which one. One of them feels too mean. But the basic idea is is Kyler Murray a better quarterback than we think?
Paulie
Okay.
Todd
So I could say, is Kyler Murray a better quarterback than we think? Yes or no? Very easy. The way I originally worded it was Kyler Murray is a bad quarterback. Perception or reality?
Paulie
A bad. I can't say he's a bad quarterback. I think he's got the talent to be very good. So I don't.
Todd
But what is the perception of him? The perception of him is he's not very good, isn't it?
Paulie
I think the perception is he doesn't put in the time. He's not a leader. Maybe he doesn't care. Like Anthony Richardson. You might say now he's a bad quarterback, but he does have talent. But Kyler Murray, there is proof of concept here. Like, all right, he's gone out and thrown for almost 4,000 yards a couple of times. There's a lot of team Pittsburgh Steelers would take those numbers right now. The jets would take it. I mean there's quite a. Dolphins would take it. Quite a few teams that would take those numbers. The problem is the name attached to those numbers. So I wouldn't be mean spirited saying it's a bad quarterback. Right. What was the other way you worded it?
Todd
Is Kyler Murray a better quarterback than we think?
Paulie
Or maybe you could say, what kind of quarterback is Kyler Murray? Is he very good. Good. Average. Stay away. Yeah.
Seaton
Paul, is this a shared blame situation where the Arizona Cardinals, they can take down a lot of people. They've disappointed a lot. And it's almost like the jets and the Cardinals are the places quarterbacks don't really want to go. And I wonder if Kyler Murray will get the same treatment Sam Darnold got when he left, that it's partially the fault of the team.
Paulie
Well, it took a while before Sam proved that it was the jets who were the problem. And Kyler was better with a bad team like Arizona than Sam was with a bad team like the Jets. So Kyler Murray is talented enough to win games. I think Sam Darnold was brought in. He was drafted because he was the safe choice. He just, he's not a difference maker, where he's going to work, win the games single handedly like Kyler Murray has shown that he can. Yes. Seaton.
Todd
He also had to kind of prove that the jets and the Panthers were the problem.
Paulie
Yeah, yeah.
Todd
49ers, he didn't really get a shot. Vikings, he. He did, but he did well there.
Paulie
Yeah, Yeah. I don't know how you freeze that with Kyler Murray because it feels like he has proven that he can be very good. And yes, it is a franchise that is guaranteed to disappoint. But okay, Arizona got a great tight end, Trey McBride. They got Marvin Harrison Jr. III, that everybody thought this is a generational talent and it's been a slow build. So they, they did surround him with talent. Yes.
Todd
What if I said Kyler Murray. Murray's biggest problem is perception or reality? So I feel like he has a big perception problem.
Paulie
All right.
Todd
For a guy, you never see him, you never hear anything. But the little bits that he did bubble up, we were like, man, that's not great.
Paulie
Kyler Murray's problem is Kyler Murray, in my opinion, because it goes back to those who are extremely talented. And I always point out, you know, Jordan had all this talent, but he worked so hard. When he got to the NBA, Tiger had all this talent, but when he got to the PGA Tour, he worked tirelessly. He worked, you know, harder than anybody did. You know, you, Jamarcus Russell had incredible talent. He just, he's always had incredible talent. He just didn't want to work. And that happens with these players that it's so easy for you. You are the star. You're the star there in high school, star in college. Now you're going to be the number one overall pick. Hey, I could have played baseball if I wanted to. Hey, I'm going to do I'll go back to Michael Vick. And that's the cautionary tale. And I think I even told Mike when I've had him on before, he should talk to Kyler Murray because it's very similar. You know, Michael Vick didn't put in the time. He was just an elite athlete that you feel like. I don't have to until you do, I don't care who it is you do. And Kyler is sort of like maybe a right handed Michael Vicky not as explosive, you know, straight ahead speed, I don't think, but quickness. And he's completing 67, 68, 69% of his passes. Like those aren't pedestrian. And you're throwing for 25, 26, 27 touchdowns. You're throwing for 38, 3900 yards. Okay. In today's NFL, those are all respectable. But I just think Kyler is Kyler's problem. We'll settle on a poll question I do have. According to DraftKings, the 2026 odds to have the fewest wins, we skew negative. We'll have that for you coming up. We'll take a break. Operator Tyler sitting by, he'll take your phone calls today. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show. Watch little college basketball. Miami of Ohio edges Toledo to stay undefeated. They're now 30 and oh the fourth team in the last 35 years to start out 30 and oh. Wichita State back in 2013, Kentucky 2014, Gonzaga in 2020 and 2021. Seven of Miami's 30 wins have come by three points or less, tied for the most of any team in Division 1. Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards this award nominated program. Here's a problem I have with Miami of Ohio. Now I'm fine. If they lose one game, they don't win their conference I hope that they would still get an opportunity to be whatever, whatever seed you want to put them in. Maybe they're, you know, 15 seed. I'd like for them to get into the tournament. I, I hope they get into the tournament. I think it's a great story. Certainly, if they're undefeated, they're getting into the tournament, but they don't have a Wally Zerbiak. Because when Miami of Ohio had their tournament run and they had Wally Zerbiak, they had a great player, a player who would go and play in the NBA. This Miami of Ohio team is sort of like, man, these guys pass the ball and they share and there's a balanced scoring attack. Now, those are all good things, but when we're watching the tournament, we want to see somebody, you know, like a Jimmer for debt. Where you go, man, you got to watch byu. Steph at Davidson, they're not winning the tournament, but they're winning our hearts. We get to tune in to watch. And that's what. Because for the most part, college basketball looks all the same. It's like, all right, yeah, you got some good teams, there's a couple of good players and. But they're not going to be around. Although AJ DeBance has said that not a guarantee that he would leave byu. Paulie told me that he would bet one of his fingers that AJ DeBance, it does not come back to BYU.
Seaton
Surprise. He's staying for March.
Paulie
I like, I like, he won't be staying to the end of the school year. I can pretty much guarantee that. But you look at college basketball and we need those names. We need to go, oh, man, I can't wait to see that guy. And there's a couple of those players, and debance is one of those players. Darren Peterson is one of those players. Boozers, one of those players. You probably have five to seven players that you're going to come away going, wow, now there's going to be a couple of players that come out of nowhere who are going to be kind of the, oh, I'm rooting for that guy or that team. Happens every year. But, you know, you start to look at March Madness and Miami of Ohio is a nice story. And I hope that they win there. I hope they're undefeated. And then, you know, there's no argument here. Although Bruce Pearl, former Auburn head coach, now an analyst, he's like, nope, they shouldn't be in if they lose a game. And then somebody pointed out, well, Bruce, your son is coaching Auburn now, and they're kind of a bubble team, are you? There's no conflict of interest. Right. He's probably saying Auburn should be in because this is the argument that we get. How would they do if they were in the sec? I get it, but they're not. You're undefeated. You won every game that we put in front of you. There's something to be said and I know, but you know what? March Madness is all about one game. You only have to be better than that team for one game. And if Miami of Ohio ends up playing an SEC school and it's only for one game, it's not a best of seven. It's one game. One and done. And that's the fun part because there are times where you go, how did that team beat that team? Because it was one game on a neutral site. Yeah.
Seaton
Paulie, your Miami Ohio team has seven guys averaging in double figures. Way too balanced for you, right?
Paulie
Yes.
Seaton
And the of is gone. It's back in the day when we were younger, it was Miami of Ohio.
Paulie
Yeah.
Seaton
Now the of is gone. It's Miami Ohio official.
Paulie
Yeah. Well, I'm grandfathered in since my old girlfriend went to Miami of Ohio high in school. Miami, Ohio. Yeah.
Todd
See, I think one of the coolest. Ohio has one of the coolest town names I've ever heard. Not Miami, Ohio, because that's Oxford.
Paulie
Oxford, yeah.
Todd
Defiance, Ohio.
Caller
Yeah.
Paulie
Defiance College. One of my brothers went there.
Todd
Easily one of the coolest sounding places of all time.
Paulie
Defiance. Yeah. Yes.
Seaton
Stubborn. Indiana. Not a real town.
Paulie
Defiance.
Seaton
Ron Harper went to Miami of Ohio.
Paulie
Oh, yeah.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie
Yeah. Out of Kaiser High School in Dayton. Ron Harper. Yeah. Zerbiak.
Seaton
They had a kid named Devin Davis just before Zerbiak. Really good player, helped him get the tournament.
Paulie
Randy Ayers played at Miami of Ohio. He later went into the NBA. Coaching. He might still be coaching, but he was a really good player there. Daryl Hedrick. I went to his basketball camp. He taught defense. I didn't like that basketball camp. That was terrible. I show up and, you know, you're slapping the floor and you're doing defensive drills. I'm like, why am I paying 150 to come to learn defense? You should be paying me. Show you some offense here. Yes.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
Todd, why wasn't it ever called Miami of Ohio? Because then it sounds like you got a complex. No, it's the other Miami. Oh, Miami. Nice, nice weather. Hurricanes. That's actually Miami of Ohio.
Paulie
Well, what would you then what it's called now?
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
It should have always been Miami, Ohio or Miami HYPHEN Ohio. Calling it at any point Miam of Ohio makes it sound like everyone knows Miami is the Hurricanes, where the other Miami school.
Paulie
Well, you have to. You have to differentiate yourself from the you. Right.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
I'm saying you have to do something. But I would have gone all along with what it is now as opposed to of Ohio. It sounds weird, and it feels like you got a complex because you're not the Miami Hurricanes, that other school that's also called Miami.
Paulie
Thank you, Todd, Back to you. All right, so we have our poll question. Oh, you know what? Here's our poll question. Is Kyler Murray still a starting quarterback in the NFL? Yes or no? All right, let's go around the room. Is Kyler Murray still starting quarterback? Todd? Yes. Seaton? Yes. Marvin?
Marvin
Yes.
Paulie
Paul?
Seaton
Yep.
Paulie
I'd say yes to.
Todd
Not much of a poll question.
Paulie
No, it's not. Well, we've had poll questions where it's like 98% one way or another. It's. All right. No, wait, you're not all in on that?
Todd
No, I'm fine with it.
Paulie
Yeah. This is the guardian of poll questions there.
Todd
I'm not gatekeeping the poll.
Paulie
Okay.
Todd
I'm just saying if we had. We went five for five in here with the same answer. That doesn't normally happen.
Paulie
Yes. Yes, Paul.
Seaton
Okay, let's say Kyler Murray were. Was. Were a stock. Would you short that stock and think it's going to get worse his career? Or would you invest in that stock and think you're buying low and it's going to be better?
Paulie
I'm buying low. Yes. Yes. If I said you could have Kyler Murray or Tua Tonga Violo as a stock. As his stock. Right.
Todd
That alone. That. That's the comparison.
Paulie
Well, these guys are both available.
Todd
Yeah.
Paulie
Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
But one you would take in a heartbeat, and the other one, I'm not sure.
Paulie
Well, wait a minute. Who are you taking in a heartbeat?
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
Is that a question?
Todd
Yeah.
Seaton
Come on, Kyler.
Paulie
Oh, I don't know. There's.
Marvin
You just said, is he a starting quarterback? Everyone just said a yes without blinking is to a starting quarterback.
Paulie
Not right now.
Todd
No.
Paulie
No.
Marvin
So you just answered my question.
Paulie
I know, but I can only tell you what NFL people in the NFL circles this. I gave you my opinion.
Marvin
Dp.
Todd
I was confused by saying that I would start him. I'm saying that someone could start very.
Marvin
I was confused by the confusion, you guys. Like, which one is the answer?
Paulie
Like, all of a sudden your arms are longer than everybody else, and now
Marvin
you're an expert I kept my fingers down, by the way.
Paulie
I know you did. Yes. Marvin raises his. His arm, but he doesn't want you to see his hands. Yes, Paul.
Seaton
Two years ago. Two years ago, Tua threw for 4,700 yards, 30 touchdowns. It was a 70% passer. That was only two years ago, and he's been relatively healthy since then.
Paulie
I know. I'm just telling you and the NFL inner circles don't count out Tua getting a landing spot like Atlanta. What about Atlanta for Tua? What about Kyler in Atlanta? Seal. That fascinates me with those weapons and Bijan and you got him. I got him indoors. I like that. He's going to play at least 10 games indoors. Get him on fast turf. Boom. Maybe you have some. You know, when I. I did this with Justin Fields, I thought he could play. I did. God dang it. And be like, man, he can play. He can play. He can kind of play. Maybe he can't play. But I tried. I tried to. To wish that into happening. Yes, Paul.
Seaton
In his short stint with Pittsburgh, Justin Fields was 4 and 2 as a starter, 67 passer, by far the best of his career. Again, it was only six starts, five touchdowns, one pick, and a lot of rushing yards with the Steelers. He was really solid.
Paulie
I know, I know. Maybe I'm rooting for Kyler. You know, we got off to a rough start in our relationship, but, you know, that's water under the bridge. Or Todd will say, sometimes that's water over the bridge. Yes, Todd.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
Instead of saying stock or, you know, who's, you know, draft is high. Who's a starting quarterback. Who's not a starting quarterback right now? What if we asked whose best years are still ahead of him? Kyler or two. What if we worded it that way?
Paulie
Okay. All right, all right.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
We're not.
Paulie
We're not labeling, but does that change anything?
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
I think it does a little bit. As far as who's a starting. Because you said he's not a starting quarterback right now, but he could be, which led me to that thought then. Whose best years are still ahead?
Todd
It's more hopeful.
Seaton
You know, we usually don't do that.
Paulie
And Todd. Nobody. Nobody skews negative like. Like Todd does.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
Pained me to share that out loud. As opposed to which one sucks more.
Paulie
I have the draftkings odds. Okay. However you want to phrase the poll question there, Seaton. If you even say, I've heard, I've
Todd
got seven different Kyler Murray poll questions up there right now, so we're doing them All.
Paulie
All right. That's good. Todd called for Kyler Murray see if he wants to actually join us.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
We have actually.
Paulie
Okay. DraftKings just presented me the 2026 NFL season odds to have the fewest wins. Marvin will start with you.
Marvin
The Miami Dolphins.
Paulie
Okay. Paul.
Seaton
The Las Vegas Raiders.
Paulie
Todd.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
I'm gonna stay with the Cardinals theme and go Arizona.
Paulie
Seaton.
Todd
I'm going to also say the Miami Dolphins.
Paulie
It is the Miami Dolphins. Second on the list. Marvin.
Marvin
The Raiders.
Paulie
Paul.
Seaton
I'll stick with the Raiders.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
The Jets.
Paulie
See, we're gonna say the Raiders. It's the Cardinals. Yeah, yeah. They're not gonna.
Todd
With or without.
Paulie
That's without. Kind. Okay, then it's the Raiders, then the Jets. Those are. It's top heavy with those four. So if Dolphins plus 390. Cardinals plus 400. Raiders plus 500. Jets plus 650. And then takes a big leap to the Cleveland Browns plus 1200 and then a big leap to the Panthers. My Carolina Panthers. Playoff bound Carolina panthers.
Seaton
They're bailing.
Paulie
Plus 1800. Yes.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
Todd, how high are the Titans with Robert Salah? They're gonna. They got. It sounds like they got a big jump in how they're gonna do.
Paulie
Todd, I'm getting.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
Oh, I didn't know if you at a time you're gonna go all the way up from the bottom to the.
Paulie
Okay, I'm going to the top. Down to the bottom.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
Cuz I didn't know if you were
Paulie
going to the top is like the best odds to be the worst.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
I understand how it works.
Paulie
See, then it's the Titans followed by the Giants and the Falcons. All three tied at plus 2000. The fewest odds or best odds to have the fewest WINS Courtesy of DraftKings. You know, we had a good morning. We had breakfast. It just. I don't know, we're trying to get in sync here. Yes.
Todd
Well, I just put in really because I wanted to see. I wrote whose best years are still ahead of them.
Paulie
Yeah.
Todd
But I didn't like the way, you know how sometimes a word looks funny even though it's spelled right. So I didn't like the way who's looked. I was like am I using this right or is there like a different way to spell this? So I put in whose best years are still ahead of them into search engine.
Paulie
So no apostrophe right.
Todd
I didn't do ho W H o apostrophe S. I did W H O S E. Okay.
Paulie
Whose? Whose right.
Todd
But it didn't look right for some reason. And then AI gave me an answer.
Paulie
Okay.
Todd
Do you want me to share it with you? It's very hopeful. I will. Research indicates for many people the best years are not behind them but. But are actually ahead with emotional well being and happiness often peaking in the 40s, 50s, 60s and even 70s. While 20s are often seen as a period of high potential but significant stress later decades often bring increased confidence, wisdom and improved relationships.
Paulie
It looks like it sounds like all
Todd
of our best days are ahead of us fellas.
Paulie
I don't think mine are.
Todd
I think you're still, you're hitting prime best days, Dan.
Paulie
I don't know. That window is closing rapidly.
Seaton
Come on.
Paulie
Yeah.
Todd
How's your confidence? How's your wisdom feeling?
Paulie
It's okay.
Todd
How are your relationships right now? Improved.
Paulie
Yeah.
Todd
Yeah. Say huh?
Paulie
Yeah. My relationships, I think are getting a little better.
Todd
Are you saying you don't like the way your best days are feeling?
Paulie
I think I had my best days.
Seaton
Yeah.
Paulie
Yeah. Yeah. Yes, Todd.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
I put the whole thing into AI overview, including Kyler and two his names. And it says based on their performance up to the end of the 2025 season, Kyler Murray is more likely to have his best years ahead of him compared to Tua, although both face significant uncertainty after disappointing injury plagued campaigns.
Paulie
Well, you know, if I'm looking at Kyler's health, overall health, and Tua, I'm, you know, going to side with Kyler here. But you know, Tua, maybe he's figured out how to protect himself better. And I give him credit because I thought, do not give him a contract extension. Do not. And they did. And now they're on the hook for $99 million. I wouldn't have given Kyler Murray contract extension. I said that. And they did. They never listen. They never listen. I'm just a talking hairdo. That's it. Jordan in Albany. Hi, Jordan. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, Dan. Six foot six, 260. All right, my first thing I'm going to say is for weird town names because we're talking about Ohio. I'm going to throw in the ring there. Intercourse, Pennsylvania. But my question for you, we were talking about Daniel Jones and to me, I look at it like if he's had nine or ten solid games, that's a great sample size. And so I'm wondering, is the Colts question mark there about the injuries? Because if you look at his stats, he was on pace for average games to hit 4,000 yards a season. A lot of that is due to, I'd say the Best guard in the NFL, Quentin Nelson. And having, you know, Jonathan Taylor crushing everybody as well. But what more does someone need when they're looking at a sample size for a guy? I'm not saying he's a 50 million dollar quarterback, but why are the Colts not jumping all over him right now?
Paulie
Because he's coming off Achilles. That's it. I mean, they got time to negotiate. I think that, I think he went from Daniel Jones, went from being overrated to maybe now underrated. But, you know, he got kicked to the curb, you know, didn't stay in Minnesota, wanted to go to the Colts because he knew he could start. He played pretty well, got out of New York, which I think was important. And I think that he is, he can be a maybe a top 20, maybe top 15 quarterback. He does have the talent, athleticism, and he was off to a very good start. They do have weapons in Indy. That helps. And I don't want to be reliant on him because we saw that with the Giants once. The Giants let Saquon go. Now all of a sudden you're saying to Daniel Jones, hey, you know, live up to that contract, which I never would have given him, but they did. And I think with the Colts, if I can get him in a sweet spot of three years and $120 million, yeah, I sign up, absolutely. I think that he's capable of being a good quarterback. All right, you whiffed on Richardson, Daniel Jones, I don't know what it's going to be ready for the start of the regular season. I mean, this isn't exactly like, hey, you screwed up on Trey Lance, but you lucked into Brock Purdy type situation. But it might be close. They didn't trade. They didn't, you know, give up draft pick first round picks like the Niners did to move up for Trey Lance. You drafted Anthony Richardson. Didn't have enough quality starts in college. You get Daniel Jones because Daniel Jones knew, I'm gonna go there, I'm gonna start. And it was a great business decision. And I wouldn't be surprised if, you know, he gets another contract from the Colts. Gonna take a break. When we come back, the most, the best odds for the most wins in the NFL. See, Todd will do the reverse.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
That makes sense. We should cover both sides.

The story of the sport's most consequential driver strike. We have one man who, upon hearing that he was going to be fired, freaked out and apparently climbed out the window of the bathroom. And was Daniel Ricardo's illustrious F1 career a success story, a cautionary tale, or some combination of both? Caller
Good morning, Dan. I'm glad that everybody's safe after Monday's trauma. Had a few questions and thoughts. One, which is faster? Fritzi leaving during the fire or running to get food on Friday? And then with Marvin about this middle finger thing. I shook his wrist one time in Las Vegas when I met him. And are we sure that it was his middle finger? Because his hands are kind of small.
Paulie
Okay. Yeah. Marvin did flip off the camera yesterday. A double bird, by the way. Still amazing.
Marvin
I'm. I'm really sorry. I apologize to not you or anybody else, but really, the future of America.
Paulie
Why not me?
Marvin
Adults, the kids of America, they're our future. And I feel really bad.
Paulie
Yeah, but this adult was mad at you that you flipped off the youth of America for no reason. I'm standing there with my arm around you, and they take a camera shot, and next thing I know, you're double birding America.
Marvin
I mean, and the funny thing was funny? Yes. It was my reaction to just Mario talking.
Paulie
Oh, so you were flipping the bird to. Mario is our director. Okay. Yes, Todd.
Todd (alternate or additional commentary)
I'm trying to figure out why Trip in Vegas has to go after multiple Danettes and, you know, skew negative there like that.
Paulie
And I would say you running out of the building after the fire faster than Meat Friday. Absolutely. Yes, absolutely. Let's see. Nate in L. A. Hi, Nate. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, Dan. Two comments. One, to defend Marvin. It looked like he was giving a thumbs up to the camera. And then two, you guys, I mean, to me, it did, but. Yeah, two, you guys already alluded to it earlier, but if there was one way Kyler Murray could change the perception people have of him, then the only way is have him come back on the Dan Patrick show. And who knows? You may get your sports Emmy.
Paulie
Well, we did have him on I don't know how many years ago, but he did come on. And, you know, we joked about it. It. We're fine with that. You know, I just think that he was coached incorrectly that day in Atlanta, whether it was by his dad or the people with the sponsorship with Gatorade. And he knew the questions. He just didn't want to provide answers. And as much as I tried to help him. And then it's survival mode. You're not going to help yourself. I can't help you now. I'm going to protect me. And that's how it kind of played out. Adam in Michigan. Hey, Adam. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. How's it going? Great.
Caller
Just making some five alarm chili over here because the last time I called a couple of days ago, I think I set the main cave on fire with my hot take.
Paulie
That was me. Yes. Yeah, yeah. Bear down.
Caller
Who knew it hit so hard? But my question was for marvin. With his 31 inch arms. There's a lot of good 31s out there. If he had to pick a jersey, would it be Bobby Orr, Greg Maddox, Reggie Miller or other? Or 31.
Paulie
Okay, numerology. That's usually Fritzis.
Marvin
I'm gonna go with Sebastian Telfair from the Portland trailblazers. He wore 31.
Paulie
What did he wear in prison?
Seaton
Too soon.
Paulie
And I wore 31 in the NBA. Could I get something with my prison number that has 31 in it?
Marvin
I'm sure it was longer than 32, so.
Paulie
Too soon, you know, for me to do that.
Marvin
He's out of prison, okay?
Paulie
I know he is. Was he in with P. Diddy?
Todd
Might sting a little bit still, though.
Paulie
Yeah, I'm sure.
Marvin
Yes, he was.
Paulie
He was in with P. Diddy.
Marvin
Yes, he was in Fort Diggs.
Paulie
Okay. I thought P. Diddy was in Brooklyn
Seaton
pre incarceration.
Paulie
Oh. Oh, he is. Yeah. But he's still there.
Seaton
Checking.
Paulie
Yeah, P. Diddy's still in prison. He didn't get.
Marvin
No, no, no, no, no.
Paulie
Okay. Pardoned. No, none of that.
Todd
Not yet.
Paulie
No. What are they waiting for?
Todd
Negotiations Ongoing.
Paulie
Yeah. Update the poll results. Our Kyler Murray poll results.
Todd
I'm sorry, Dan, you're going to have to be more specific.
Paulie
Our polls results.
Todd
What kind of quarterback is Kyler Murray? Good. Very good. Average or stay away average has about 55% of that followed by stay away. Big wow, big lead there. Okay, this one's from Marvin Player that you wish would have done more with their talent. Michael Vick, Kyler Murray, Jeff George or jadevion Clowney. Michael Vick running away with that one followed by Clowney. We also have whose best years are still ahead of them. Kyler Murray or Tua? Kyler Murray running away with that. And is Kyler Murray still a starting quarterback? That's probably the most compelling poll. That's a 52% say yes.
Paulie
By the way, the last quarterback to get the transition tag, Jeff George. So it's been a long time since the quarterback has been given the transition tag that Daniel Jones got.
