If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app and listening to our radio affiliates around the country. By the way, today is the day that you can announce that you're in the transfer portal. It's going to open up next Tuesday. The current projection is 1100 Men's basketball players will enter the portal next Tuesday. This according to a source. So that equates to the rosters of nearly 100 Division 1 basketball teams.
Todd
Sure,
Dan Patrick
This is the start of the day. It's yearly free agency. But next Tuesday, the portal opens for business and the current projection of what I have from My source is 1100 Men's basketball players will be in the portal. Now the other story with college basketball is the official who was involved in the Dan Hurley moment at the end of the game, Roger Ayers. He is not going to be refereeing in the Final Four. Now, I've been back and forth with my source at the NCAA on this and he is suggesting now there's no reporting on this. There's no information on this. But he says, I think at most the NCAA opted out of using Roger as a temperature cooling option, a distraction that is unneeded because you get graded in the tournament. And from what my source is saying, that he doesn't think that he was downgraded, but he's going to give the benefit of the doubt. So he doesn't think that this is something that, because of, you know, the moment there that if he didn't tee up Dan Hurley, that cost him an opportunity to referee in the Final Four, which he's done before. But, you know, my source said yesterday the same thing that he thinks Ayres would understand. You don't want to be a distraction here while you want to be in the Final Four. You don't want him to be doing the Yukon game because then that becomes a focal point, that becomes a side story every time out, every moment that official with Dan Hurley. So he said in his opinion, now, once again, his opinion, and it's a source that I have relied on a long time. And he is stating that this is in his opinion because they met on Monday, the ncaa, the committee. And I'm sure it was discussed then from what my source says, he was not in that meeting. But he said, you know, I know people who were and I'm sure that, you know, it, it comes up. But this is not something that Roger A. Is not going to be in the Final Four. But it's not because of that moment. Because if you keep him out of the Final Four and it's because of his refereeing, then you're saying he should have teed up Dan Hurley. And my source said that is not the case because he even had the language in here. Let me see. He had chapter and verse on what he was following. As far as Rule 10.2h says an unsporting class A technical should be assessed to a coach or player who disrespectfully contacts an official or makes a threat of physical intimidation or harm to include pushing, shoving, spitting or attempting to make physical contact with an official. And my source says this just isn't that. But he thinks that they are opting out of using Roger as a temperature cooling option, a distraction that is unneeded for the Final Four. I also saw this. The Ken Palm ratings that they go by when they're, you know, seating teams. Saturday's semifinal game between Michigan and Arizona will be a matchup between the third and fourth best Ken Palm ratings of all time. Number one is Duke 1999. Number two, Duke 2025. Number three Michigan. Number four Arizona. Number five is Duke back in 2001. Stat of the day. Stat of the day, Stat of the day, Stat of the day. Here comes that. What? Stat of the day. Paulie, do you have the Duke 1999 team?
Paulie
I always have that on my computer, Dan. You know that. Corey McGetty, Elton Brand, Shane Battier, Trajan Langdon and. And even the bench has some names you might know. But those are five NBA players in the starting lineup.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. These are the all time ratings by Ken Palm. Duke and then Duke in 2025. Ouch. Then it's Michigan and then Arizona and then Duke. Rounding out the top five, the 01 Duke team. Do you have that one as well? Paulie, can you give me momentarily? Yeah. 2001. Wow. Well, everybody keeps saying this is going to be for the championship or it should be for the championship. Well, it's not. It's just to play for the championship. Yes, Paul.
Paulie
Oh, one Duke. Carlos Boozer, Chris Doohan, Jason Williams, Dante Jones, the transfer from Rutgers, remember him? Those are their starting lineup.
Dan Patrick
All righty. So Florio from the NFL meetings. Tom Izzo, Michigan State head coach Grant Hill, former Dukey will join us as well. Tiger issued a statement yesterday saying he is stepping away. He didn't say golf but you that's implied that he's stepping away from golf related jobs, task responsibilities and he going to seek treatment here. So if you're watching on Peacock we have the statement here. I'm not going to read the whole thing but Tiger is now. I don't know if he goes away somewhere. I don't know how treatment works. You know a lot of famous people have been in treatment now obviously ultra famous like Tiger. But you know there been movie stars who have been in, rock stars who've been in there, politicians, you know, you name it, all walks of life. But I don't know if Tiger goes to a rehab facility. He's tried this before but he pleaded, he didn't say no contest. Did he say not guilty with the moment the incident that he had with the car accident. So just some of the headlines. And then yesterday Italy failed to make the World cup again. That's three consecutive World Cups that Italy has failed to make it just to qualify. So with the loss, Italy becomes the first former champ to miss out on three consecutive World Cups. With none of the team's current players ever having participated in the World Cup. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. Official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. While I reached out to a Source with the ncaa. So did Paulie. And my source doesn't work for the ncaa, but he is affiliated with the ncaa. I just want to make sure. Paulie, source.
Paulie
Yeah. On Monday, the NCAA released their officials for the Final Four in the final game. A number of media outlets reported yesterday headlines like Roger Ayers won't ref in the Final Four after the Dan Hurley exchange. In insinuating that because of this he was pulled. We reached out to the NCAA and they got right back to us this morning. We asked if the, the incident with Hurley had any effect on Roger Ayres status for the Final Four. They said, quote, this had no bearing on the selection of the Final Four officials.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie
None.
Dan Patrick
And you know, my source backs that up. He even goes a step further to say wouldn't be surprised if Ayres took himself out of consideration because he didn't want to be a distraction. But just so people know, because there are a lot of media outlets, these are big time media outlets and they make it sound like Roger Ayers was being punished and that he was being kept out of the Final Four. But all you got to do is get a hold of the NCAA to ask them. All right. Poll questions. Seaton. What are we going to go with? First hour of the program?
Seaton
Well, let's see if we're. Are we allowed to ask this question?
Dan Patrick
Oh boy.
Seaton
Okay. Because we're not trivializing anything.
Dan Patrick
Shouldn't you be asking the question prior to asking the question?
Seaton
We have been. Paul and I have been discussing can we actually do this or not without people going crazy. Who is having the worst week?
Dan Patrick
Oh, boy.
Seaton
Obviously Tiger woods is not having a good week. Not trivializing anything that happened there. You know, whatever type of notice I have to give right now, trigger warning. I don't know what it is. Not saying. Making light of it because it's in the poll question.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seaton
These are people or groups of people that are having a bad week.
Paulie
Full disclaimer.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seaton
Tiger woods clearly having a bad week.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
In what I could consider the worst professional week of all time, CB Buckner is having a horrible week.
Dan Patrick
So he's the umpire and he is not a big fan of abs because
Seaton
it feels he's not a big fan of getting calls.
Dan Patrick
Right there. Apparently he's, he's getting called out for not calling the right calls. Yes. Paulie.
Paulie
Over the course of the weekend, umpire C.V. buckner had a couple games where he made a call and it was reviewed and went against him and it played out on social media. He was a random umpire. That I don't think most people knew. And he got a little famous the past couple days for this. Then he had a call last night where someone stepped on first base and he said the player did not, and he clearly did. And Buckner's in position to see it. It's hard to know what happened there.
Seaton
He could have that, that baser could have drop kicked first base and it wouldn't have been more obvious that he stepped on first.
Dan Patrick
It's one thing to screw up the balls and strikes, but they had him at first base and he screwed up over there. It's like, we got to find a place where we can hide him. Yes.
Todd
Todd, when do you step away versus being being fired by Major League Baseball? If you realize if this keeps happening, you keep getting calls. Wrong. I know it's your livelihood and you may have a family and you can't just walk away from a paycheck, but at some point you're going to really wait for Major League Baseball to say, you're done. This is terrible.
Dan Patrick
You're not going to get fired. He's got a union behind him. They're not going to fire him. Now. They might take away assignments, but they're not going to fire him. I mean, there are umpires who made a career out of missing calls. So now you just have the automated balls and strikes, and there, there are a few umpires who are being called out. Because now we know your name. Yes.
Todd
Are umpires, do you think, in general, more annoyed or relieved by the ABS system? Because I think you can make both arguments.
Dan Patrick
What do you think?
Todd
I think they're more annoyed by it.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Todd
But I could totally understand being, oh, I screw up. I'm not going to ruin the whole thing because they'll just change it to the right call and they won't come kill me on a call that could determine a playoff spot or something.
Dan Patrick
All right, thank you, Todd. Yes, Paul.
Paulie
It's a weird thing because one random umpire has a bad weekend and it becomes the face of the entire system. It also proves it's working at the same time. But someone has to be, you know, take the hit for it.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I, I understand it. I know the umpires are being embarrassed, but, you know, as I pointed out yesterday, so is the guy who's there, and that's strike three. And it's a bad call, but you have to do the walk of shame. Back to the dugout. Nobody goes, boy, that guy got embarrass. Terrorist on a bad call. We know the umpires now. They have to relearn the strike zone because everybody. They allowed umpires to have their own interpretation of a strike zone, which is crazy. It should be. Here is the uniformity of it. This is it. Now. Get used to it. And this is going to fast track, I think, to take it completely out of the umpire's hands that next year. That way the umpire can, you know, still be a hero. He can be back there, and nobody's going to, you know, test his credibility, because these are balls and strikes that are automated, and everybody wins. Then we have fun with it up on the screen. We're not calling timeout, you know, for a review. Everybody will win with this. Yes.
Seaton
A sort of interesting side effect of ABS is that, you know, take that call in the brewers game last night where Stevie Buckner, dude, clearly steps on first. He gets it horribly wrong. What you're expecting is the manager to come flying out of the dugout and tearing him into him because you can't fix the call. You can't fix it. It's just a bad call. And then you spend the next month pissed about that one bad call at first base. Remember that guy? How did they get that call wrong? And instead, now it's fixed in 90 seconds. Yeah, it was like, okay, well, let's go take a look at it. Replay. Oh, okay. Did step on. All right, next play.
Dan Patrick
If the goal is to get all the calls right and you have the technology, then use the technology.
Seaton
It's not supposed to be used like that.
Dan Patrick
Like. Like what?
Seaton
Like that.
Dan Patrick
I. Right.
Seaton
The goal is to get the calls right. That was. There should be no reason for instant replay in that situation.
Dan Patrick
No, he should. Yes, you're right. Yes. That's not one of those. I don't know.
Seaton
Hey, thank God we got this system to get these calls right, because there's no way the human eye could have kept up with the speed of that play.
Dan Patrick
You know, I. I don't know. That was bang, bang. Yeah.
Seaton
I mean, hey. I mean, look, I'm just doing the best he can. Okay. You could do.
Dan Patrick
You could do better, Marvin.
Todd
Stepping on first is not subjective.
Dan Patrick
Like, oh, I think he did.
Todd
God. That was why.
Dan Patrick
I know. I know. You're watching. You're going, wait, what happened here?
Seaton
Like, all right, let me see. Like, you start, you know, you lean into your computer a little closer. Let me see if he said that. Oh, yeah.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, he did. Yes. Yes. Pauling.
Paulie
I'm watching it again. It's almost like the Hurley thing. You're watching, and you don't know what you're seeing the second baseman throws well past first, and the ball goes towards the dugout. But the first base umpire, Buckner, is six feet away from first base. The guy hits first base fully, not like toe or heel. He, like, lands on the bag and
Seaton
stuff in the middle of it.
Paulie
Yeah. And then he says he never touched it. And the home plate umpire has to do the announcement.
Dan Patrick
Oh, my God. Plus, you can hear somebody hit the bag.
Paulie
I can hear it now.
Dan Patrick
I know. I hear you. Yes, Todd, So maybe you don't get
Todd
fired, but you gotta be called into the office. You would think. And then what is your explanation for missing something that blatantly when the head officials or someone in Major League Baseball sits you down and go, let's take a look at this. What? How did you totally miss that?
Dan Patrick
Well, you get graded after every game. All of these officials do. NFL baseball, you know, ncaa, you get graded and they go over, you know, your percentage of calls, Right? Wrong. And look, umpires are probably 96, 97% correct. But we're focusing on those other ones. And if I'm an umpire, it's like, hey, let's fast track this, abs. Okay? It takes away a little of the, you know, gesturing I get to do or the personality I get to show when I call somebody out, but I'd rather have that than be embarrassed behind home plate. You know, when you're an umpire and all of a sudden you see that guy tap his helmet, you know, in. In your. In your head, you're probably saying, you can. Are you sick? Stop it. Yes.
Seaton
And, yeah, the problem for umpires, too, is that back in the day, if a dude complained too much, he'd be like, all right, no problem. My strike zone just got a lot. Watch. Watch what happens the next time you're up. And privately, in their head, they could be like, this dude's not getting a call for the rest of the game now. But now they can't do that. They can't do that little bit of petty revenge.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Todd, think about that.
Todd
In any other line of work, you're in a meeting or presentation or you're doing any kind of job, and someone could just tap their head and say, you're wrong, stupid, what you just said. And we're going to show you why.
Dan Patrick
So I could do that right here with you doing that very often, you're
Paulie
going to get a concussion.
Dan Patrick
All right, let's take a break. We'll. We'll take some time. We'll add or subtract to the poll question more candidates who had the worst week, because I would say the entire country of Italy probably would be on that list as well after the World cup yesterday. Mamma mia. How shocking, though. Well, let me take a break. Jimmy Scan. Jill, Tommy Calamari. Italy is not in the World Cup. I've been saying that to my wife, who's Italian. She goes, okay, all right. Okay, all right. Jimmy Sconjee. Tommy Calamari.
Seaton
Does it go over well? They didn't get it.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, she didn't know.
Seaton
Patrick, would you just stop it?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd
At all.
Dan Patrick
Let's take a break. All right, we're back after this.

But the one thing that can really ruin that for me is shoes that just don't feel right. That's why I started wearing Altra running with the Altra Fit. Every step feels comfortable, balanced and strong. Like my feet can finally move freely. What really stood out to me was the roomy toe box. My toes actually now have room to spread out, which makes movement feel more natural and comfortable. And when your feet aren't cramped, you feel more balanced. Like every step has a strong, stable foundation. I've noticed that with extra space my foot muscles get to work building strength length so I can actually move with more confidence. Dan Patrick
Got a poll question. We conferred during the commercial break. What candidates would we put on that list? Who had the worst week? Seaton, would you recap the candidates and who we're adding to the list?
Seaton
Yes, right now. Who is having the worst week? And not in a way to trivialize. Tiger Woods, CB Buckner, Italian soccer for not making the World cup again, or Duke basketball.
Dan Patrick
Ooh. Okay. Well, Tiger is the obvious answer.
Seaton
I don't know.
Dan Patrick
That's a bad week.
Radhi Devlukia
It is.
Dan Patrick
It's an embarrassing week. I'm gonna. I would say Italy, because that's an entire country. This is their sport. They have great players on their team. And they didn't make the World cup for the third consecutive World Cup.
Seaton
That's not good.
Dan Patrick
That's. That's 12 years. That's a bad week. Yes, Paul.
Paulie
It's Italy to me, and it's not that close. Tiger woods will come back. He's all set. Career wise. It doesn't hurt his legacy on the course. You know, he doesn't have that kind of infraction. But Italy, they now have three years and 12 months to get another chance.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
So it's not like, you know, Duke can come back next year.
Dan Patrick
Wait, isn't that three years and 12 months? That's four years. Yeah. Did you mean to say 11 months? No, it's three years and 12 months, which would make it.
Paulie
I think I was actually trying to say three years and 14 months.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
It's like Will Ferrell in old school when he's.
Paulie
He's trying to debate. He kind of has that head thing.
Dan Patrick
I was like, three years, 12 months. Okay. Yeah.
Paulie
That means you're sharp.
Todd
I would have initially said Tiger, but. Because even whether he came up with it or someone told him he needs to do that, putting out that press release, that at least it appears that he's looking to get help. I would remove Tiger should be on the list, but he wouldn't be my first choice. I would go Italy over Tiger because of that press.
Dan Patrick
And I'm glad that he's getting help. Here's the big concern that I have is he's always going to have this pain the rest of his life. You know, I was on Prednisone. Anybody who's been on Prednisone on and off for 12 years, and it's mood swings. It's. It's bad for you, but it takes away all of the pain. And, you know, can he do a. A lesser drug that does not impair him when he's driving or trying to golf or just be normal? He's going to have all of that pain, all of that, and it's only going to get worse with the arthritis. And that would be the biggest concern. Wean you off of that. But what am I going to prescribe for you? Because obviously he's, you know, taking these drugs because of the pain that he has, or you get addicted to that feeling of taking these drugs for the pain that you have. I had to be weaned off prednisone, so I was doing 60 milligrams. They would make you drop down 55 and then it was 50, and I mean, it was a whole process. I got down to 10 milligrams. They made me go nine, eight. You know, and that's just prednisone, and that's, you know, routinely prescribed for people. But it's not good for you. You can't stay on it long term. So Tiger's gonna have that the rest of his life. And that would be the big concern. Even if you go to rehab, what are you going to do for his body? What can he do that doesn't lead him back to this? Yes, Paulie.
Paulie
I also wonder not to overanalyze, but when I see how jacked he is while having a bad back and bad knees and legs, I wonder if that's healthy as a lifestyle to be addicted to. Looking like an NFL defensive back at 50, while it looks great, I don't know if that's good for flexibility and health and pain.
Dan Patrick
8773-DP-SHoVE Email address DP danpatrick.com Twitter handle @dpshow we'll hear from Mike Florio. He's at the NFL meetings, not the owner's meetings, but it's basically the owner's meetings. So we'll talk to Florio. Coming up. Top of the hour. Yes, Tom?
Todd
Yeah. Why is it they call it league meeting? Every column I'm looking at, instead of owners meetings, it's league meeting. They met over three days or they're in the process in Phoenix. Well, after one day, shouldn't it be meetings?
Dan Patrick
Well, it's the owners are there, GMs are there, coaches are there. I guess that's why the NFL is holding it. So the league meetings, not owners meeting.
Todd
And they're calling it singular. I would think if it's a one day event. It's a meeting. If you're having multiple days, you could throw the S on, there wouldn't be a big deal. And doing the whole Stanley cup final finals thing.
Dan Patrick
The thing. The things that bother you. The thing do you want to bring up?
Todd
I thought it was owners meetings too, but it's league meeting.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Paulie
Paul, real quick. Grammar wise, the NFL is saying meeting as if the entire weekend is a meeting and there's multiple meetings underneath that umbrella. So from a grammar standpoint, I think they're correct.
Dan Patrick
Okay,
Todd
that was a good explanation. I could buy that. Okay, that works for me.
Dan Patrick
The 7 foot 9 kid, Livier Rue, he is transferring.
Paulie
Yeah. He just entered the portal after one year at Florida.
Dan Patrick
Did he have to duck to get into the portal? Okay. All right. That's way too seven. What? Yeah, seven nine. And he didn't play a lot. It's weird that you're 79 but you really can't play big time basketball. Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie
Okay, you play basketball. He's 79 and not very mobile. Is the reason he didn't play because he can't play in the flow of a college basketball offense and defense.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah. I mean, I would start there. I mean, Taco Fall could play. You know, he was a starter in college. But you know, this. This kid played in 11 games. But not. He didn't start. He got minutes. But you're 7 9. Dang. Do you do.
Paulie
All right, go ahead.
Dan Patrick
Do you go to a small school if you're here? Okay, so we're talking about this kid who's 79 who's going to be transferring. And Todd had a different thought on being 7 9, because I said, hey, when you're done with basketball, you're going to be 79 the rest of your life. And then Todd offered up this.
Todd
That really hit a chord with me. I'm like, yeah, you're stuck like that. Basketball, not basketball. Your whole life, you're that heightened. There's nothing you can do about it. So I wonder if one day there may be some kind of surgery or medical procedure like they did with Inspire, where you can press a button for sleep apnea that they put inside your chest, that they can do something with your spine where you can control your height, you can make yourself at will. It may take a few minutes as you're elongated or shrunk down like an accordion, and they can do something to make you taller or shorter. And.
Dan Patrick
And this was a real question.
Todd
It was a legitimate question.
Dan Patrick
Yes. And I thought, well, the wonders of modern medicine. It's kind of like a height version of Ozempic that. Yeah, it'll make you shrink a little bit.
Seaton
Why not?
Todd
It's a very good example you just presented.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Paul?
Paulie
Dan, you saw my reaction to this question at the morning meeting. I almost. I was passed out in frustration.
Todd
I could take a little shot in my stomach, and in a matter of months, I could be 150 pounds lighter.
Paulie
But. But your weight can fluctuate. Generally, your height does not fluctuate once you hit about 25 years old. I can't believe I'm actually saying this a lot. I can't believe I'm saying this a lot.
Dan Patrick
Yes, but Seaton's. See, Seaton's eye roll is usually the best. He doesn't say anything and he'll just be like. And then I think you covered your face after Todd said that. You're like, okay.
Todd
May not be in our lifetime, but eventually everyone got, you know, today I want to be 6, 6.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd
But 5, 10 tomorrow.
Dan Patrick
But Ozem. Could you imagine, like, if we're like
Seaton
the Jetsons and, like, our cars folded into, like.
Dan Patrick
That'd be interesting.
Seaton
I don't know.
Todd
Is that how I sound?
Dan Patrick
I mean, I wrote.
Todd
That's almost as bad as Frank Calietta's approach
Dan Patrick
when you get fired up.
Seaton
If there was nothing in the world to talk about, I would be like, all right, thank God for Todd. But, like, there's plenty to talk about. Plenty of stuff to talk about. There's a million stories that we're not even touching
Dan Patrick
any.
Seaton
Jeez.
Todd
If that's how I said I should never talk again, which I know you would all love.
Dan Patrick
No, no, I need your contributions. I do, but, you know, realistic contributions,
Todd
I don't think it's that far fetched.
Seaton
Yeah, but you press a button and make me not 7 foot, 79 anymore. You just press a button, somebody implants something in you that shrinks your bones down to a degree.
Dan Patrick
Structural.
Todd
Some type of spinal surgery that would act like an accordion.
Dan Patrick
So, like, you have an elevator. Yeah. What about the rest of you?
Todd
The rest of you?
Dan Patrick
That would look kind of weird.
Seaton
Femur, that's still at seven nine.
Dan Patrick
Arms, your arms.
Todd
It would look a little odd.
Paulie
Imagine Olivier rue is now 6:1, but it's all short torso. And the rest of him, these big ladders coming out of his.
Todd
Hey, if you don't want to be 79 that bad.
Caller
Hey, can you hear me?
Dan Patrick
Yes, Chris.
Caller
How you doing, Dan?
Dan Patrick
Good.
Caller
Yeah. What's going on? Hey. Hey. Thanks thanks for calling me back. Hey, first time in a long. Well, not in a long time. And off of CD Buckner's mistake at first base, I wonder if he's related to Bill Buckner. And first, a shout out to my step nephew Shiloh, who got a secondary assist in his pee wee hockey game last night in the third period. And also. No, no, wait, wait. Second period. And as far as the Final Four, I like Duke to be cutting down the net Sunday night, even though they do have a couple of boozers on the team. And that's as in drinkers.
Dan Patrick
Chris. Chris, who are you imitating?
Caller
I think it's April Fool's Day.
Dan Patrick
I know, but are you.
Caller
I'm doing everything that I shouldn't be doing. Okay, come on, don't question. It's a little off topic since Girl Scout cookie season is kind of over, but when you're watching the game, what's your favorite Girl Scout cookie to be noshing on? Mine's the peanut butter ones. I love those. I love.
Dan Patrick
Thank you. Thank you, Chris.
Seaton
Is this Sour shoes doing a Chris and Syracuse impression?
Dan Patrick
I don't know. I wasn't sure. Chris and Syracuse. Ish. April Fools. Yes. Yes. Mark.
Todd
Hey, callers don't do what Chris and Syracuse just did.
Dan Patrick
We love Chris in Syracuse, Paul in California. Hi, Paul. What's on your mind?
Caller
Yeah, hello. I just want to defend Hubert a little bit, and I'm wondering if.
Dan Patrick
Davis. Hubert Davis.
Caller
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Caller
Yep. And I'm wondering if. If Reggie would have kept Hubert the alumni for North Carolina if Duke wins the whole thing next year. How. How patient are they going to be with the new coach?
Dan Patrick
I guess you're talking about Reggie Miller yesterday, but Reggie's not with us today. Thank you, Paul. I don't have anything to offer. You know, I don't have contacts at North Carolina, any inside information there, but it's taking them a while and it feels like there's somebody who is coaching, still coaching, who's going to be the next head coach at North Carolina. Now, that could be Billy Donovan with the Bulls, but it feels like one of these coaches is going to be the next head coach at North Carolina. And they're still coaching now. But as far as Hubert Davis. Yes. He went to a national title game and then two years later, he's fired. Yes.
Todd
Mark, would you go outside of the North Carolina family to hire a new coach? I don't.
Dan Patrick
I just want the best candidate and I don't. I don't get caught up. Oh, he's not one of us. You know, ask Michigan about Brady Hoke. You know, get the right guy. You know, Juwan Howard. Get the right guy. Not our guy.
Paulie
Yeah, Paulie, you want to become a member of the UNC family, go to the Final Four. They'll adopt you quickly. Nobody cares if it's a Jerry Stackhouse or a no name from blank school. Yeah, fans don't care.
Dan Patrick
Dusty May from Michigan, if he's available, you'll take him. He's an Indiana Hoosier, all right, and you would be lucky to get him. But from what I'm told that athletic director at Michigan has already said to him, he's. He wants him to coach. As long as he wants to coach at Michigan, he's going to wrap him up to make sure he doesn't leave. Which would leave maybe Tommy Lloyd at Arizona would be the next head coach. All right, let me take a break. More phone calls coming up. And our play of the day next.

Seaton
Yeah, we were just putting it up there because we landed on these suggestions. Who's having the worst week? Tiger Woods, CB Buckner, Italian soccer, or Duke basketball? These are constantly shifting. Results pending.
Dan Patrick
Okay, Chris. Chico in Baltimore. Hey, Chico.
Caller
Dan. I see you guys on here now. Hey, with all the coaching, what you were saying about North Carolina, would you see Quinn Snyder's name get mentioned? Probably.
Dan Patrick
I don't think that North Carolina would bring a Duke guy in. That would be awkward. Very good coach, but I don't see that happening. Brad in North Carolina. Hi, Brad. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, what up, dp? Quinn Snyder. Hell, no. But not the reason for my call. I just want to weigh in kind of on Tiger. For the better part of my life, Dan, I've struggled with an alcohol addiction. And for the last 10 years, I've made three attempts to get sober. And by the grace of God, for the last 161 days, I've achieved that. But it. It took me, Dan, realizing that addiction is about power and powerlessness. And Tiger's gonna have to come to the realization that he is powerless over his addiction. And that's gotta be something unbelievably difficult for someone who has had so much control in his life. But for me, it took turning my life over to a power greater than me. And that case happens to be Jesus Christ. But he's got to find some sort of power greater than himself or it's just. It's just. It's a terrible cycle.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And I wish you well, Brad, but most people who get into that position. You know, Pete Rose had a gambling problem, but Pete's not seeking help, you know, so you have people who, their minds are wired that way. That's what made them great. They don't give up, you know, they don't listen to other people. They don't have to. CB in Austin. Hi, cb
Caller
how's it going?
Dan Patrick
Good.
Caller
Hey, on Tiger, why the heck does he not have a personal driver? What's he doing driving himself around? I get the whole medication problem. I mean, I get it, that's, it's terrible and he needs to figure it out. But why is he driving himself around?
Dan Patrick
Well, because he wants to have privacy. He may be going to get something or do something that he doesn't want. Somebody. You know, if you're Tiger, you probably don't trust anybody, and especially a driver does. He'll have stories to tell. Plus, he probably doesn't think, you know, that he's impaired when he's driving. Look at the other times he's been driving where he fell asleep behind the wheel. How do you get to that point? I don't think, yes, he can afford a driver, but he probably doesn't want that driver to know what he's doing. Yes.
Seaton
Plus, like, you don't think an Uber driver is going to be like, hey, I just dropped Tiger woods off at the pharmacy again. You know what I mean? Like they're gonna. Those people don't sign NDAs.
Dan Patrick
Well, Prince had a driver and they had Prince getting out, going into a pharmacy when you know he was getting drugs.
Seaton
It's even the drivers that you pay 250, 000 a year sell you out for that 10k to let whatever news organization know that you're going to be at this place because they want that extra 10k.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, because so many people say he can afford a driver, yes, he can afford a driver, but maybe he doesn't want that driver to know what he's doing. Joey in Minnesota. Hi, Joey.
Caller
Morning, Dan. Dan. Happy April Fool's Day. Calling in with a autograph store I've been hanging on to for a hot minute here. Mr. Grant Hill frequented a Vail, Colorado Mountain restaurant that I used to work at. I'd served him a couple years running, kind of planned ahead. Kept one of his cards in my locker at work. So the next year comes around, he shows up with his family run in my locker room, slipped the card into the check presenter with the check with a sharpie, and I just handed him the check very nicely. He I told him, you know, there's something a little extra in there if you don't mind. He looked up at me with a big smile, and nobody even noticed he signed it for me. I just thought it was a cool story, and I wanted to hear any other unique autograph stories you guys have
Dan Patrick
heard or he might have. Well, Grant Hill's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He just truly a nice person. So I'm not surprised at them. Had an awkward moment last night at dinner. I had the waiter say to me, hey, somebody has been waiting to get a picture with you. And I said, okay. So I look around, and there was a couple that. They were seated behind me at the bar. So I get done with my dinner. I get up, I walk over to them, and I say, would you like to get a picture with me? Well, the guy goes, no. And I go, oh. So I look back at the waiter, he goes, not them.
Paulie
It's like a curvier enthusiast.
Caller
Yes.
Dan Patrick
So I then got my picture taken with the other people at the restaurant, and then I went back to the couple to say, hey, they wanted. They wanted my picture. You know, I'm sorry, because he said, I didn't know if you were going to take a picture of us. Like, I was saying, hey, do you want a picture? Like, I was going to be the photographer, but, yeah, a little awkward there. Wife got a laugh out of it. She was not. Everybody knows you. I go, I. I didn't. It's not my fault. It's the waiter's fault. It made it seem like everybody knew me, Zach and Knoxville. Hi, Zach. What's on your mind?
Caller
Adp. Thanks for taking my call. I just was wondering if Todd would have said 3 years and 12 months, do you think the show might have just exploded or shut down?
Dan Patrick
Yes, we do great on a curve here, but Todd does say more dumb things.
Todd
Questionable way you can dress that up.
Dan Patrick
Dumb.
Todd
That's the way we're going to go
Dan Patrick
with, like, the number of non sequiturs that we have in the morning meeting would be. Would. Would drive you crazy. So Todd does say questionable things. How does that.
Todd
Sometimes they're unique or engaging as opposed to dumb. But if we want to roll with that one, I guess that's the best we can do.
Dan Patrick
I think the height thing, where it's basically your body's an elevator and you can go up to. How. How high does the body go up to? Like 10ft.
Todd
I'm sure there's a time someone said, wait a second, I'm going to take a little shot in my stomach, and all of a sudden I'm going to go from 4:30 to like 208.
Dan Patrick
How's that going to happen?
Todd
That's ridiculous.
Caller
Us.
Dan Patrick
But that's not structurally. You're talking about somebody's spine. Just saying in general. No, no, no.
Todd
There are inventions where people once said, that's never gonna happen.
Dan Patrick
I can't do this. No, I can't. It's stupid. It's dumb.
Paulie
Yes, Paul, I reached out to a doctor.
Dan Patrick
No, don't.
Paulie
The doctor doesn't want his name used on air. But this is a doctor of endocrinology. He says if you're really short, there's different hormones and things you could be given to become, hopefully become taller. That's commonplace.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Paulie
He said that he's never heard of anyone trying to be shorter. Like when they're seven, they think they're going to be seven feet and they try to be shorter. And then the other question about could you remove parts of people's spine to make them shorter? He goes, I don't know how to answer that medically. Back to you.
Dan Patrick
All right. No, Todd.
Todd
No.
Dan Patrick
