Business owners, stay connected with your employees anywhere. Visit rapidradios.com for up to 60% off and free shipping. I mentioned beef Wellington, USA style. That would be the cue for one of the danets to then Google what is USA Style? Beef Wellington. Yes.
Paulie
To start, Beef Wellington, classic English dish, a beef tenderloin wrapped in layers of savory ingredients. Like it could be like a ham and mushrooms and mustard coating, then wrapped in a pastry crust and baked to perfection.
Dan Patrick
Now, is that the English? That is English style, but I want USA style.
Paulie
Yes. We just wanted to lay the base code here. We're getting the English as we speak.
Dan Patrick
Okay. All right. 877-3-DP-SHOP Email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handlepshow Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock or streaming partner, download the app if you haven't done so. We say good morning to our radio affiliates numbering over 400 around the country. Back to what happened yesterday with the Bucks. They waived Dame Lillard. They still have to pay him close to $100 million to go away and then he'll be free to sign with anybody after he heals from his Achilles surgery. Miles Turner goes from Indiana to Milwaukee. I think it's a great addition for them. Brook Lopez went to the Clippers, so they get younger and more athletic I would say with Miles Turner than Brook Lopez. But Dame Lillard has had an interesting career because he was one of those guys where you watched him and you went, wow, he's really good. But he doesn't play for a good team. Nine time All Star. He was going to finally get a chance. He was going to get a chance to play in some big games. He was going to be in the playoffs with Giannis and maybe he'd win a title. And then all of a sudden they get an early exit from the playoffs. He was inconsistent, he had injuries. Not now. You have the Achilles tear and his career in Milwaukee is over. He doesn't sound too heartbroken because he said, I won the lottery. Basically I'm going to get paid $100 million. I'm going to get $2 million a month to not do anything and then I can sign anywhere I want. Now granted, I think he's 36 coming off the Achilles. He'll be 36 by the time he comes back to the NBA and he's going to be able to pick wherever he wants to go. Now granted, he's not the guy who's going to get you 28 a game anymore, but he can still give you that 20 a game. Spot up Shooter certainly can go on a run, but I think that he did well by the Milwaukee Bucks. The bucks paying $100 million for him to go away. They get Miles Turner. But then I started to think about the Pacers. Now if the Pacers had won the titles, I said yesterday, okay, we can deal with that. Halliburton's out for at least half the season and we're going to lose Miles Turner. But we want a title. Well, you didn't win a title. Halliburton's out and Miles Turner leaves and goes to arrival in the East. It almost feels like this is a gap year. Like we're just going to. We're going to survive. Feels like there are teams surviving in the NBA. The Celtics. It's one year, then we'll get Tatum back. I don't know what they're going to be like this year. Feels like Jalen Brown should be a dark horse MVP candidate because Jalen Brown's probably going to get a lot of shots. He's probably going to try to average 30 a game for that team. They still have Derrick White. Porzingis to me, is not a big loss. You couldn't really count on him. But having Tatum out for half the year, they have a gap year. It feels like Cleveland, they got Lonzo Ball because Darius Garland coming off toe surgery. But Cleveland is still the class of the East. Milwaukee will be better. Orlando is going to be better. Atlanta is going to be better. Detroit should be better. And you might have teams like Orlando and Detroit looking what happened with Indiana saying, maybe we can make a run like this. 76ers are still a mess. Don't know if I'm leaving out anybody else in the east, but you got a team, a couple of teams that are, you know, kind of taken this year off, or maybe the expectation level is going to be lowered. The Knicks are going to be there as well, although they still waiting to get a coach. Mike Brown appears to be the front runner since he's getting a second interview. You know, I take back what I said when they fired Tibbs, that they must have known who they were getting unless they truly thought they were getting Jason Kidd. This hasn't gone well, hasn't gone as scripted. And they reached out to Dawn Staley, South Carolina head coach. I'm sure she was flattered by that. But if I'm Dawn Staley, I don't take the Knicks job. You got a great situation there with South Carolina. Now, could it be one of those landmark decisions where you want to coach the Knicks coach in the NBA? Yeah. I thought Becky Hammonds was going to get the San Antonio spurs job a couple of years ago. I thought Pop would step to the side and allow that to happen. But I don't know if Don Staley, you know, Don Staley runs. She runs the ship there in South Carolina. You lose control. A lot of these coaches can't coach in the NBA because they're control freaks. In college, you get to control, or at least you used to be able to control everything. Now you go to the NBA and you're like, you know, there are teams that guys don't even show up for practice, and there are guys who probably don't get to play that much, but there are guys that don't show up for practice, which may sound crazy, but the coach may not have a problem with it because they're not going to play. And so what? Like, you just can't have that? Shay Gil is going to make a million dollars a game at. In. At some point during this new contract. A million a game because he plays around 70 games. So he's going to make $71 million in a couple of years. You're going to get to the point where somebody's making $100 million in a season in the NBA not too far away. And if I'm Don Staley, as much as I'd love to be that first, I don't know if I want to deal with the NBA. You know, you had Jay Wright at Villanova. He wasn't interested in the Knicks. Coach k flirted with the Lakers years ago. You know, Danny Hurley. Danny Hurley is not suited for the NBA. IQ wise he is. But temperament, dealing with these guys go ballistic if they lose 5 games. You could lose 5 games in 2 weeks. Can't deal with that. But Mike Brown appears to be the front runner with the Knicks. And I don't think they really had a game plan. They. The game plan was we're fir tibbs. And from what I was told, that decision was made before the playoffs started. It was, hey, because they didn't think they were going to go far. Then all of a sudden, hey, we beat Boston. Hey, we. Cleveland's out. Hey, we, we can, we can beat Indiana. Until you couldn't. And then all of a sudden it's like, it's almost like, good thing we lost to the Pacers or we could have had Tibs there in the NBA Finals. Then what do you do?
Marvin
Yes, Marvin, but with Dawn Staley, this is a good Knicks team. This isn't like David Fisdale going to the Knicks where they're just trying to.
Dan Patrick
You know, you had a coach who went to the Eastern Conference finals who got fired.
Marvin
I know, but the thing about Dawn Staley, if she goes there and she has success, she'll be all right. But even if she doesn't, she has her pick of the litter in college basketball and she can always go back.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but she has her pick. She has the place where she wants to be.
Marvin
But then if she gets fired from the Knicks, she can go to Yukon after Gino retires. Maybe that was self serving.
Dan Patrick
Sorry. Yeah, I can't im. Well, it's the Knicks and I wouldn't want to deal with that kind of ownership. Where Tibs. Okay, what was the complaint about Tibs? Oh, he works them too hard. Have you seen Don Staley coach? I mean, it's like Pat Summit. She could have coached the men's team. Absolutely. But you can't sit here and say, well, you know, don't work us too hard. We want to be fresh for the playoffs. I don't know if Don Staley knows how to coach any different than she does at South Carolina. In fact, you probably coach less when you go to the NBA.
Paulie
Yeah, Paulie, I agree totally with what you're saying, that Dawn Staley is in a great position. However, the significance and impact historically of being the first ever woman's head basketball coach in the NBA would be something I think culturally or historically, whatever word you want to use, she couldn't pass up. She'd be remembered for generations, and it'd be almost like she'd almost have to have internal and external pressure to take it.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but I don't know what her goals are. It feels like what she's doing now in South Carolina, she's trying to win national championships there, developing these women there. It's a great program. She's been successful. Everywhere she's gone. She's a Hall of Famer. But I can't imagine. I mean, it's nice that the Knicks did reach out. I would. I would interview as many people as possible. If I'm an owner and I have an opening, I would bring in as many people as possible because I want you to tell me about my team. Doesn't cost anything. It's free. Come in. I want to interview you. Tell me what you see, tell me what you think. Tell me what you would do. And I don't know why more teams don't do this. Yes, Mark, But I think the beauty.
Marvin
About Knicks right now, this isn't your dad's Knicks, where James Dolan was just ruling everything with an iron fist. They have Leon Rose, they have a really good front office right now. And you've seen that with the success that the Knicks have had.
Dan Patrick
What happened? What happened? It went to James Dolan, and James Dolan made the decision to fire Tom Tibau. Leon Rose was Tibo's agent. He didn't care. Although he did get his coach a contract extension last year. So he got him paid, he did his job, everybody got paid. But all of a sudden, ownership comes in and then they, hey, just to remind you, I'm the owner, we're going to get rid of this guy. But if you think Don Staley would come in and coach the Knicks and not work these guys hard now, maybe she plays the bench a little more, but, well, she couldn't play them any less, I don't think. I mean, it's nice that they did reach out. And I don't know if she took an interview, but, hey, she's a great coach. Pat Summit could have coached in, you know, the men's team. Becky Hammond, she was an assistant with the spurs for a long time. All right, Seaton, what's poll question today?
Seaton
Be happy to tell you that, Dan.
Dan Patrick
After the break, okay? After the break, you could tease.
Seaton
I know what beef American beef Wellington is.
Dan Patrick
Okay. USA Style. Yeah.
Seaton
Which would you rather tease? Beef Wellington, USA Style or the poll question?
Dan Patrick
I want USA Style beef Wellington.
Seaton
My quick research has revealed that it appears to involve, like, cheddar cheese or American cheese, but the kind that, like, you get at the store, that's in a square, you know, like slices, like.
Dan Patrick
A chunk, like slices of cheese. That and.
Seaton
And bacon. Those are the two ingredients that I've seen in most of my research is cheese and bacon.
Dan Patrick
Cheese and bacon. What's your beef Wellington? My beef Wellington? Yeah. Yes, Paul. Yeah.
Paulie
We have a bit more on this story, Dan. According to Dylan, the graphics guy who's handling the beef Wellington, there is no beef Wellington American style recipe. He made it up. Air quotes, but let's just say USA will be on the puff pastry. It'll say usa.
Dan Patrick
Oh, Gordon.
Seaton
Be some ketchup in there, too.
Dan Patrick
Okay. If you're watching on Peacock, that's Dylan out there cooking. Well, he's eating right now, is what he's doing. I think he just burned his tongue.
Seaton
Yeah, it looked like that might have been hotter than he thought it was going to be.
Dan Patrick
And he's supposed to have gloves on. He's supposed to have, like, gloves here.
Seaton
He did, but remember the other, like, a week or two ago, he had gloves on, but he kept rubbing his sweaty forehead with the palm of his gloved hands.
Paulie
He needs a wetsuit.
Seaton
That didn't exactly work.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I didn't realize that he was doing that. He's wiping his brow with the glove that. Then he's handling the food. Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
A hair net would be nice also.
Dan Patrick
Yes. Yesterday I came in late in the afternoon, and he was cooking up something, and he's leaning over the pot that he had, and I go, oh, boy. I don't know if sweat was dripping. Yeah. When your hat's on backwards to keep your hair out of your face. That's not good. That's not good. Yeah.
Paulie
Paul, if you're just tuning in on Peacock, it looks like we hired Pablo Escobar to be our chef. A young Pablo Escobar.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Or somebody related to Franco Harris and Gabe Kaplan. There you go. Yeah. Little combination there. Combo platter between the two. If they had a child, that's what it would look like. And kind of let themselves go as well. We'll keep an eye on the story. Yes. Marvin. Yeah.
Marvin
He dresses like Danny DeVito and Matilda. Like, it's just mismatch. Real weird.
Dan Patrick
That's a deep dive. I'm not familiar with Matilda and Danny devito.
Marvin
Top five Movie all time. Go ahead.
Dan Patrick

25 years, 25 players. Before training camp kickstarts a new NFL season, NFL Daily is going to look back. It is a special six episode series where myself, Greg Rosenthal and some of the top NFL minds like Kevin Harlan, Mina Kimes and Bill Barnwell make the case for each player. We're taking a look back giving you NFL Daily's top 25 players of the last 25 years. So who made the list? You know, Tom Brady's on it. Where's Patrick Mahomes?
Dan Patrick
Touchdown Kansas City.
Greg Rosenthal
He's on it. How about Lamar Jackson?
Dan Patrick
Jackson takes it himself. Look at him dart back and forth. Oh, he broke his ankles and he's got a touchdown. He is Houdini.

Dan Patrick
Time for the hour one poll question, Satan. It's one from Paul.
Seaton
I'm gonna condense it a little bit. If you were Damen Lillard.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Seaton
Would you rehab your Achilles and join a team as soon as possible or retire?
Dan Patrick
You're paying me a hundred million dollars.
Seaton
To rehab in addition to, I would imagine a considerable amount of money already made.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I'm not going to retire. Oh. Be 36 probably when I'm ready to come back to the NBA, I can, I can play anywhere. And it, you know, money shouldn't be the issue because I'm already getting paid. Maybe I sneak in and play for a championship caliber team or at least get to an NBA finals. Yeah. I'm not retiring.
Paulie
Yes, Paul, just his financials. He has 281 million already paid in his career and another guaranteed hundred million over the next five years on the way.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
Any attractiveness to saying that's it?
Dan Patrick
No. And I mean, you still have to go through the rehab process. I mean, you have to fix. You're going to have surgery and then. Well, he's had surgery, now you have the rehab anyway. So why not do it with the carrot that you dangle that says, hey, you want to play for the Lakers hey, you, you want to play for Oklahoma City? You want to play for Houston? You can play anywhere. Yeah. Seaton. Sure.
Seaton
36, 62 guard coming off of an Achilles injury.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Ebony
Can you play anywhere?
Dan Patrick
Well, no, he has the opportunity to go anywhere. Whether you.
Seaton
Theoretically, he has the opportunity to play anywhere in the world he wants. However, is that.
Dan Patrick
Would I be interested in Dame Lillard if you said I get him for, let's say, $10 million one year deal? Yes, I would be.
Seaton
Is he interested in that one year deal for 10 million?
Dan Patrick
Well, then he might not be able to go where he wants to go. Right. But if you said, look, Golden State says, hey, we got a roster spot, we got this much money, are you interested in playing with Steph? See what he says, what's the worst thing that can happen? He says no. Or you say no to him, and then he goes to another team. But $100 million to rehab and then you get to play or you at least to get. You least can call anybody you want and say, hey, if you need me, I'm here. So I couldn't see retiring, not at 35, 36. What other poll questions?
Seaton
Yeah, I guess it seems unlikely, but it's not the most obvious once you start stacking those things up. About age, I don't know, even for some reason, size to me at 6:2, being a little older, coming off of an injury like that, sometimes it takes a year to get that back.
Dan Patrick
If I had his skill set and all I had to do was rehab and come back and be in great shape while you're giving me a hundred million dollars. Yeah. Heck yeah. You don't even. You didn't have to give me a hundred million dollars if you said, I'm coming back and I want to prove that I can still play and you could go wherever you want to go or at least get that opportunity. That's why he said he won the lottery, because he gets to go where he wants to. He, he, he won the lottery with $100 million, there might be something to.
Seaton
To like having the game taken away from you.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Seaton
Through an injury that makes you want to play a couple more years.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. You know what other poll questions do.
Seaton
You want from one from Marvin or would you like several from Todd?
Dan Patrick
Let's go to Marvin.
Seaton
Okay. Marvin has. Who's the team you can't believe didn't win a championship. This is off of the conversation with Kevin Durant and LeBron James.
Dan Patrick
Oh, okay. Well, we should probably play that clip. To put it in context, KD was on LeBron's podcast and talked about when he was at OKC, that they got maybe too good too soon with that roster.
Marvin
I think we exceeded expectations with that team. And when you reach the finals and you go through a run like that so quick, I don't think a GM owner was ready for that.
Dan Patrick
So you sped up the timeline. Too fast. You sped up the timeline.
Marvin
All of us, you know, individual players. Serge, you didn't know. He's like, he came out of nowhere. He came out here being the best shot blocker in the league. I'm averaging 30 at 21 years old. Russell is 22 years old as an all star. James sixth man at 20. Like, so we exceeded the timeline. So they wasn't ready for that. And I don't believe that's just my theory. I don't know exactly what Sam was thinking or the owner, but my theory is I don't think they were ready exactly for us to be contenders every year.
Dan Patrick
All right. The other voice you heard there was Steve Nash. Why couldn't they win a title? Okay. They sped up the process. They're better than what you think. I'm. I'm. What am I missing here? They couldn't win because what. Hardin wanted his own team, so I. Is that on ownership? James Harden wasn't staying. Katie and Westbrook, we never were quite sure. Were they on the same page, ball dominant, and then Durant wanted his touches and James Harden wanted out. So what am I missing here? That ownership, that they were too good too soon? You can still win a championship. Like, there. There's nobody. There's no age restriction here. Wait a minute. You're too young here. So I'm not quite sure. I'm picking up what Katie's putting down. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, I have that roster from the 201112 season. For the Thunder and their ages, it is surreal. Kevin Durant averaged 28 that year at age 23. Westbrook averaged 24 at age 23. James Harden, who went to college for a little bit, 22 years old, averaging 17 points a game. They had Serge Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins, etc.
Dan Patrick
Okay, how old is OKC's roster now? Aren't they the youngest team in the NBA? Like, what is Durant saying? There's no age requirement to win a championship. So I'm. I'm not quite sure. Like, why did he go to Golden State? What did that have to do with ownership? Like, I'm. I'm not quite sure I'm following what he's trying to tell me here.
Seaton
Yes, Is it just because everybody got too big, too good, too fast, and you can't pay those people, so it's impossible to keep it together.
Dan Patrick
But Harden didn't want to stay, so I don't know if that had anything to do with paying. He wanted his own team. He was tired of being a third option, I think, or, I mean, that's what happened when he went to Houston. He got his shots and ended up leading the league in scoring a couple of times. But I don't know if that's about money.
Seaton
I got the sense it was just about sort of preparing for a really good team and then the things that come with it, and maybe they just got too good too fast and nobody was prepared for it, including ownership. So it's like, dang.
Dan Patrick
What?
Seaton
Serge Ibaka is best shop locker in the league, and Katie is, you know, what do you say? Averaging 30 and he's 21. And like, it's almost like being good presented problems that nobody was prepared for.
Dan Patrick
Well, OKC won a title, is the youngest team in the NBA. I guess it's possible. What other poll questions?
Seaton
Well, let's see. Here's the one from Marvin that we were just talking about. What's the team you can't believe didn't win a championship? You have Durant's Thunder. You have the 90s Cleveland Indians, five slam. A jama. Other. Neither. Neither.
Dan Patrick
Okay, well, five slam pajama should have won with that much talent in a shot clock era. They end up winning. I. I don't know if I look at the Guardians slash Indians and say, but, I mean, they were close. I don't know if I looked at them as a great team. I think they just. They were there, they had their moments and lost in heartbreaking fashion. Yes, Marvin.
Marvin
But if I tell you this team has Kenny Lofton, Albert Bell, Jim Tomei, Sandy Alomar, Roberto Alomar, and you don't win a World Series. They lost to the Marlins.
Dan Patrick
I know.
Marvin
That's one of those. I think it also. It's because of who they lost to. Where you're just like, man.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I guess that could factor.
Marvin
We had our moment and they lost to the Braves and that. So they got to the World Series a couple times.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah. Talented team. Yeah. Yeah. Paulie.
Paulie
I would throw out kind of a one that just popped in my head. That 2001 Seattle Mariners team, they won 116 games in the regular season. I'm just looking at the roster. They're completely stacked.
Dan Patrick
They don't have great starting pitches. Nope. Would they have Wilson Alvarez or who is their they? I'm trying to think. They had one.
Paulie
Freddie Garcia.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, they had Moyer, Garcia.
Paulie
Aaron Seeley.
Dan Patrick
They didn't have a 20 game winner. I don't know. They.
Paulie
Oh, Jamie Moyer was. I got him at 20 and 6.
Dan Patrick
Throwing salad. Dang.
Paulie
A lot of run support.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. 116 wins. Ouch. That's a good offensive team. I just didn't think they had a hammer. When you get to the postseason, you got to have that guy, that one guy that he'll stop a lot after a loss. He goes out and he makes sure he wins. They didn't have that guy. Maybe, maybe if Freddie Garcia mixing up with Wilson Alvarez for some reason. Yeah, Freddie Garcia was a good pitcher, but, you know, Jamie Moyer's not scaring you. I mean, 20 wins, that's great. But you didn't. You didn't have that Randy Johnson. You didn't have Kurt Shilling. You didn't have. You know, those guys that go out and they, they, they win a game, they shut you down. And I think, boy, but that was a great team. Great team. Let's see, Andy in Rhode island leads this off. Hey, Andy, what's on your mind?
Michelle Williams
Good morning, Dan. What's up, Danette? Guys, I just wanted to take a moment just to recognize Dan for being a pioneer. Not just the sports radio, but in champions, others into the Rifle hall of Fame. From athletes to broadcasters, Dan's footprints have been on so many careers. And I think now time we, the fans and the listeners, do what we can to get Dan Patrick inducted into the hall of Fame. You've elevated so many, Dan. Wait, wait, wait.
Dan Patrick
Andy. What, what hall of Fame?
Michelle Williams
The Radio hall of Fame, Dan.
Dan Patrick
I'm. I'm in the Radio hall of Fame.
Michelle Williams
Oh, my goodness. Are you kidding me, Dan?
Dan Patrick
Well, I tended to downplay a lot of these honors, you know, very, very humble, but mission accomplished. I got into the Radio hall of Fame. Was that three years ago, went to Chicago. Very nice, very honored. Let me see. But thank you for the compliments, Andy. Let's see. Jake in Cincinnati. Hi, Jake. What's on your mind?
Michelle Williams
Hey, Dan, I'm just calling in. Drop a little nugget about Bobby Bonita Day yesterday. I don't think many people know Bernie Madoff is part of the story. So when the Mets asked to defer the payments, the representative said they'd take the deferment. There was an 8% interest tacked on year over year. Well, Fred Wilpon was investing with Bernie Madoff at the time, who was supposedly making his clients 10% year over year. So in his mind, he's thinking, okay, I'm making 10, paying the near 8%. I get that 2%. Well, obviously, that 10 was never real. So he. He had to pay that 8% and paid, what, 30 million instead of 5. Got double screwed.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Jake. Yeah. Bernie Madoff. There were so many people and not so many, but probably five to seven people, maybe 10 people that I knew in New York City, and, man, did they want to tell you how much money they were making with Bernie Madoff. And I didn't make enough money to be able to invest with Bernie Madoff. Thankfully, it was one of those where, thankfully, I didn't make a lot of money. But I just remember they were telling me, oh, man, killing it. I go, man, how those are incredible profits. And then you realize that it was a Ponzi scheme and it wasn't real. And some of the two of the people that I knew, it didn't end well. One committed suicide, and the other one kind of drank himself to death. But, you know, they had lost everything. And I know that there are some people who got money back. The actor Kevin Bacon, I think he had a lot of money with Bernie Madoff. I don't know if he got that money back. But, yeah, that. That was one of those where you're thinking, you know, if it's too good to be true, it is too good to be true. Yes. Todd, you can't be that footloose with your money. You got to be really going to.
Marvin
Tighten things up a little bit.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. A little too simple. How about sensitivity there? Okay. You're better than that. Am I, though?
Marvin
Minimal kindness.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, that's true. That's true. By the way, the Pistons have added Duncan Robinson. Now you say, okay, well, they added him because Malik Beasley has some financial problems. He's got some legal issues. He's got a federal investigation. So they quickly pivoted. They were going to pay. Detroit was going to pay Malik BEASLEY Three years, $42 million. And all of a sudden, they go, we need somebody who can shoot threes, who doesn't have a gambling problem, allegedly have a gambling problem. Duncan Robinson. Come on, we'll take you. And Malik Beasley's got some real financial. I mean, now you realize if you get into a position, Detroit News lays this out, got into, you know, financial disaster. Loans, bad investments. And then all of a sudden, did he turn to gambling, Fixing a game, prop bets. That's what Appear, appears, happen. There's a whole lot of smoke here. And if there is any semblance of fire, boy, this is where this is. This is where you really damage a league. This is. Everybody talks about. No, we're monitoring and gambling and, you know, we know what's going on. All these commissioners, all of them, this is their worst day. This is their worst nightmare. If there's something that damages the credibility, where you go, that's not real. I can watch wrestling. I know it's not real, but I'm not betting on that. If I'm watching the basketball game, football, baseball, whatever sporting event. And if you think it's not real, that that's where it starts to crack at the foundation here. Malik Beasley, was he fixing games? Was he fixing his prop bets? Was he trying to do that? Did he. Did he relay information here? That's another key ingredient. He might have done that as well. He might not bet. He might have somebody who's been him betting for him or giving information. We're headed towards this, that this will continue because somebody doesn't think they'll get caught or. It's so easy to place a bet. And, you know, if you don't do something with DraftKings or FanDuel or BET MGM, you're going to do offshore. That's the way they used to do it, the old days, where you could place a bet, no paper trail. But Beasley getting into financial trouble. You know, I think this. This what happened with Pete Rose. Pete was a bad gambler, and then he fell back on what he knew, and that was baseball. And yes, when he finally came clean on my show years ago and said, I bet on us to win, that doesn't make it. He's not exonerated because he bet on his team to win, because you can manipulate your lineup as well. But, you know, Pete had to fall back on what he knew and. And could control, and that's baseball, and that's why he was betting so much. But this situation for the NBA, this is terrible, terrible. This is where you hope what you're seeing is okay, that's. Remember, Tim Donaghy was a rogue referee. David Stern said, rogue referee. Every time he brought up that. That situation. Rogue referee. Do I think others were involved in that? I do. Whether it surfaces, maybe it doesn't. But rogue referee, Malik Beasley, you know, Dante Porter, hey, just a scrub at the end of the bench. Nobody's going to notice if I'm fixing a game. My prop bets, they notice now. It took a while for Malik Beasley. But Beasley reportedly was asking other players about, hey, you think you, I think he did this with Anthony Edwards. I think he did this where he said, hey, you think you can get, you can beat me and get seven threes tonight? Malik Beasley probably won't play in the NBA ever again. The NBA does not want him back. But if you this Detroit News article mean he owed his barber of thousands of dollars. Now, I don't know if he's using his barber and he's a bookie or there's gambling or I have no idea. I don't know how much haircuts cost, but he owes him thousands of dollars. He took out loans. And then all of a sudden you want to try to recoup this. Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie
And if you go back to Tim Donaghy, that was the referee. That was 2007. That story broke. But that finally gave a face to the people who question legitimacy in sports. And to this day, when I talk to people, I have friends and they're like, remember Donaghy? It's possible that it's like the buzzword name, that there was a face to it in 2007 and he's still relevant when people mention it today.
Dan Patrick
And it's a referee we're always talking about, oh, they're fixing a game. We don't talk about players fixing games. We talk about officials. Oh, they don't like us. They got it out for us. That was one of those where you're like, boy, if this, if this metastasizes, this is death. But with Malik Beasley, there's a whole lot here. A whole lot here. All right, we'll take a break. Phone calls coming up. 8773 DP Show. When we return, we'll give you the play of the day.

Seaton
I like that Michael.
Dan Patrick
I like his delivery.
Seaton
I love that Michael is sitting in Wisconsin right now and like, you know what? I think I got some names for.
Dan Patrick
Todd.
Seaton
And then just brought that heat.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Todd. Wow. Was there a Chris Hamburger that played for Washington? Han hamburger, but burger. Okay, I know that's not, you know, in the 70s. Todd swinging wildly right now. I don't think you know any players who play today. I really don't. You don't. But 70s and 80s in your wheelhouse. I am right there for 70s and 80s. Man. That was a brushback pitch. That hurt. Now I feel like I got to come up with something that hurt me. You felt that? Yes, I did. Chip in Indiana. Hi, Chip. What's on your mind today?
Michelle Williams
Dan, thanks for taking my call. I appreciate it. I got three quick things. First, you're completely right on the Kevin Durant comment makes zero sense to me and shouldn't to most listeners. Secondly, I don't want to sound hypocritical because I enjoyed your professional reporting in your shtick as an ESPN anchor. However, I'm a little irritated by the. The lack of comedy and the some inappropriate comments by the current anchors and wanted your thoughts on that. And then lastly, I'm a former college basketball coach with my last stop being as an assistant with Barry Collier at butler in the mid-90s. And you've talked a little about Hinkle Field House in your time, but as a Midwest guy, I'm wondering. I always say it's the greatest barn ever, and I'm kind of interested in your thoughts and comments on that. I'll just listen and appreciate all you do.
Dan Patrick
I loved it. I loved shooting hoops there. I did a game with George McGinnis, and I was there with Wisconsin Green Bay against Butler. And Tony Bennett was playing. His legendary father was his coach. Tony won it, I think, at the buzzer, but I loved it. I thought it was wonderful place. Not everybody agrees with me about Hinkle Field House, but for me, I loved It. I love the coziness of it. And I don't want to comment on the SportsCenter anchors. I, I don't watch enough SportsCenter to be honest with you. And I usually watch Pardon the Interruption and that's about it if I'm up later with Van Pelt. But I, I just, I don't watch it because I can get the information and I don't need to be entertained when, you know, they're giving me the highlights. I, I can take care of that myself. But it's a tough job to do now because everybody knows what the end result is right away. Now your job is how do we take it to the next level, how do we further a story here? And we've all seen the highlights or we've all, you know, we got catchphrases and all of that. I understand that I'm probably not in their demo of who they're trying to entertain. One hour in the books, two more to go. There's a whole lot of money being spent on new stadiums. At what point does this stadium become old, obsolete? We'll talk about that. You'll be amazed at the number of stadiums, renovations that are going on right now around America.
