If your New Year's resolution is to finally get your finances in shape, we've got your back prices, they're still high and the economy is all over the place. But 2026 is the year for you to get intentional and make real progress. That's right. Yeah. Each week we break down what's happening with your money, the most important issues to focus on, and the small moves that make a big difference. Kick off the year with confidence. Listen to how to Money on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm John Palk. For years I was the poster boy of the conversion therapy movement, the ex gay who married an ex lesbian and traveled the world telling my story of how I changed my sexuality from gay to straight. You might have heard my story, but you've never heard the real story. John has never been anything but gay, but he really tried hard not to be. Listen to Atonement, the John Paulk story on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is Dr. Jesse Mills, host of the Mailroom Podcast. Each January, men promise to get stronger, work harder, and fix what's broken. But what if the real work isn't physical at all? I sat down with psychologist Dr. Steve Poulter to unpack shame, anxiety and the emotional pain men were never taught how to name. Part of the way through the valley of despair is realizing this has happened and you have to make a choice whether you're going to stay in it or move forward. Our two part conversation is available now. Listen to the mailroom on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. And we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. Indiana does it. They complete the season. A miracle season. And there was a website that said the odds for Indiana to win the national title at the start of the year, they were plus 10,000. Fernando Mendoza to win the Heisman, plus 5,000. Their win total over under eight and a half. And here they are with a magical season and give credit to a lot of people here. Kurt Signetti, you got to start with him. Imagine you're at Alabama and you're working with Nick Saban and you say to Nick Saban, coach, I want to leave. I want to be a head coach. And you go, okay, where are you going? And he says, I'm going to IU PUI And Nick Saban says, why do you want to do that? He wanted to be a head coach. He proved to be successful there. Elon James Madison, I mean, this isn't the normal route to become a national champion, but there's something about him. And he doesn't go after five star recruits or four star recruits because he couldn't. Because five stars and four stars aren't going to Indiana. If you're getting three stars, it's like, whoa, all right, I like this. He's the kind of guy that goes after two stars and by the time he's done coaching them up, they're four and five stars. So that's a huge credit to him. Fernando Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy winner, did what you want a Heisman Trophy winner to do, come up big when he needed to, and he did that. As for Miami, it's going to get overlooked because I think we looked at Miami like historically great program, while Indiana, historically a bad program. But Miami and Mario Cristobal did a great job this year to make the U relevant again and they had their opportunities. I just didn't understand the coaching philosophy of the first half, the offensive philosophy. They had 69 yards of total offense in the first half and they were in the game they just kept running the ball. I got Malachi, Tony, I want the ball in his hands 20 times. I just got to whatever it is. There's a chance that he could break every time he got the ball. You go, oh, you got to hold your breath if you're Indiana. But I didn't understand unless they were saying, we don't want Carson Beck to try to win this game. You're trying to control the clock a little bit maybe, but they just kept running it up, running it up the middle, and then you end up with 69 yards of total offense. Second half, they opened it up a little bit, and Carson Beck had a couple of plays there. In the end, ended up with an interception. But give credit to Indiana. We've talked about this for the last six weeks, just how big this story is. And growing up in the Midwest and growing up in Ohio, if you were going to schedule a school for homecoming where you knew you were going to win or parents Weekend, Indiana would be tops on your list. And I couldn't help but think of one person last night when this game ended, and I thought Elite Corso, because Coach Corso was there at Indiana and did a really good job. But you're going against Ohio State in Michigan. And here he is in failing health, but a big contributor to college football. College game day. And here he gets to witness Indiana winning the national championship in football. So the biggest play here is the interception by Indiana to seal the national championship. Here's the snapback. Beck looks, throws it down the field, and it is intercepted by Indiana. Wow, what a play. And it is Jamari Sharp who comes up with a big. Jamari Sharp with what a play for Indiana. And Indiana is going to win this thing. And Sharp is from Miami, comes up with the interception. Fernando Mendoza from Miami. And here is his touchdown run. Gotta get to the eight. He's gonna take off and run. Mendoza weaves his way, first angle, diving toward the end zone. Touchdown. That's where he won the Heisman Trophy. Chris Fowler with the call. Because you're watching and you go, okay, he got the first down and then he just kept going and then got the touchdown. But Miami was resilient. They kept coming back, and Indiana knew that they weren't blowing this team out. Home game for Miami, but it was probably felt like a home game for Indiana. There were a lot of Hoosiers there, but congratulations. Indiana football has won a national championship. Dude, you've been doing this a long time. You just uttered that on national radio. Yes, I. I never, ever thought in my lifetime, I would say something like that. Indiana football has won a national championship. By the way, DraftKings just sent me the title odds for next year. Indiana and Ohio State have the same odds, plus 700. Then it's Texas and Notre Dame. Plus 750. Oregon, Georgia, LSU, Texas Tech, A&M, Alabama and Miami. All righty. 8773, DP show email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle @DP Show Tyler sitting by to take your phone calls. All right, Seaton poll question for hour one is going to be what the Indiana. Indiana football national title story is most similar to as Paul laid out these options. Okay. Mir on ice. 2016 Chicago Cubs. The 2016 Leicester City team that won the Premier League. Or 1983 NC State. Okay, so we're putting a team on there, not Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson. Yeah. Okay. Because you can. You could. I mean, are the 2016 Cubs worthy of being put in here with this group? I think futility for 108 years is kind of similar to the futility of Indiana football. But I would say Leicester City. Well, yeah, would be the comp because they were a couple tiers down. Right, Seaton. For years and years and years. They had only been promoted a year or two before winning the Premier League. There's a pretty big turnaround similar to Indiana. Yeah. Yeah. But somebody did predict that Leicester City. They did. Hello. Hello, Lightchester. I called him. Lester City to Rebecca Lowe. Dan. I know, Lester. I know. We were at the NBC studios and I remember, you know, they were talking Premier League and the great host of the Premier League, Rebecca Lowe. And I go, she goes, dan, who do you like? And I go, I like Leicester City. It's. It's Leicester City. I said, they're going to win it this year. Yes. Todd. I don't want to be that guy, but I've kind of been that guy at times with the show, so I'm just going to say it. Can we overstate how big Indiana's accomplished is in the history of sports? Are you saying that we're overstating Indiana? I'm saying we're not there yet, but we are on the road to saying something like that. This in the history of anything that's ever happened on a field or a court or ice. This is the one. Paulie's head's going to explode here. Yeah. Yes. Marvin. I gotta disagree, Fritzi. This is probably the greatest turnaround in the history of American sports. Like the Cubs. The Cubs were up and ready to go to the World Series in 2003. Indiana wasn't like, man, we were really close to winning the Big Ten in football. Never. They've always a bottom fear. Besides that one year with Antoine Randall. L. They've never been anything to watch. Yes, Todd. We also have to distinguish, obviously between turnaround and upset. There's all kinds of words and phrases that could get garbled with one another. This obviously is a huge turnaround in two years. As opposed to Tyson Douglas where it's an upset. This wasn't something in the making over a fights or something. You're right about the turnaround. Like when you think about turning around in two years, that's the remarkable part. Go back over two years ago and look at a home game at Indiana football prior to Kurt Signetti. Like, they're playing Akron. Didn't they go three overtimes against, like Kent State or something? I think it was four against your zips. Okay, go back and just get a picture of what the attendance was like before Kurt Signetti got there. And look, I said it. I'm sure many people did. Coming into this year, I wondered who was going to be Indiana, and it turned out to be Indiana. It's a great story. Once again, Indiana football has won the national championship. Wow. April. Oh, no. What's today? Why are you a buzzkill? That's terrible. Why? I'm usually a pretty positive, you know, happy go, lucky. No, you're not. Until I get, like, snarky and wise Paulie rubbed off of me, I'm getting snark in my old age. I'm getting very snarky. It was never like that back in the day. You are a negative guy. The Indiana call of that touchdown. What are you doing? Just didn't love that. It was unfortunate. It was unfortunate. This guy's a legend. He's a great broker. Unfortunately, he got tricked into things. He called. He called like, oh, he's throwing out. He's running it. He's running it. It's a touchdown. Why? Why are you doing this? I was bummed for him because if I was a broadcast, they're going to be playing. That really sounds like you're bummed for him. We're going to be talking about Indiana forever. We're going to be talking that call forever, too. That way they go together. Yes, Paulie. But if you watch that play when Mendoza goes back, it's the last thing anyone expected. Herb street even broke it down. The safeties are so far back, they, like, jumped forward and couldn't believe he was even going it was a great play, but the second effort to get into the end zone and, you know, I'm curious. We got Chase Daniel on, and he looks at more film than anybody. A former quarterback. Watching Mendoza, I saw. I'm gonna go back and say what I said a couple of weeks ago, only because a scout told me this. He doesn't do anything great, but he doesn't do anything that you bring into question. Like, it, it just. He's clean, but it, you know, is he a little more athletic than you think? Is his arm a little more, you know, a little stronger than you think? Is he a little more accurate? Like, he's got a lot of those. He's a little more than. He's a little more than. All I know is what a great representative that he would be for any football team. Now, that doesn't mean he's a franchise quarterback, but he's going to be the number one overall pick. He came up when he needed to. He. He had some big plays when he needed to. But we'll talk to Chase Daniel about what he sees because, okay, they won the national title. This is about a bigger picture of what happens next year, you know, when he gets to the NFL. Ross Tucker, CBS Sports, will join us coming up as well. We'll get to your phone calls. Miami, they have a head coach. They took the packers defensive coordinator, Halfley, and the Titans hire Robert Sala. I think it's a good situation for Robert Sala and Titan and the Titans. His personality didn't do well in New York and going to the Titans, I like the job, you know, but once again, you have a franchise quarterback. I believe you got a lot of cap space more than anybody. Now, do you have the right people who will make these draft picks and bring in these free agents? That's the key. You can have the template here. You got to make sure that you're able to fill out that roster in the way that allows you to maybe turn this around like Carolina did or New England did. Some of these teams that have three or four wins and then, you know, next thing you know, you're banging on the door of the playoffs. But so we got a few more coaching vacancies here, certainly with Buffalo, the Steelers, Baltimore. Baltimore is going to take its time. Somebody told me yesterday they, they're never in a hurry. They, they'll. They'll treat this the way they do the draft, where they're usually at the end of the first round and they just, they're patient, waiting for the right person to be their next head coach. So I don't know if it's one of those. I don't know if it's somebody who's still coaching. I don't know if it's a coordinator for, you know, one of the final four teams might be. From what I'm told. I thought Robert Sala was getting that job. I thought that he would be the number one candidate there. As for the Steelers, I think Mike McCarthy is truly in the mix and you know, he's a Pittsburgh guy. So multiple reports about Mike McCarthy maybe getting back into the mix as well. The Buffalo situation. I know I get a franchise quarterback, but I got, I have to go to the AFC title game. Like the instant pressure now. They're not going to get rid of you after the first year. But, you know, going in, okay, he got this far. Now, would I have fired Sean McDermott? I would not have because I have to know, okay, who's the next guy coming in and how do I know he's going to take us to the next level? You know, Mike Tomlin stepped down. Would I have fired John Harbaugh? I would have because I don't. I think there's a disconnect between Harbaugh, Lamar Jackson, ownership, the frontal. It feels like there's something in play there. Todd Monkin and the offensive coordinator just felt like it was clumsy. The Steelers, I get it. I think Tomlin was burnt. I think that he is not going to coach, not anytime soon. I don't know if he'll do tv. I think he might just chill. All right, we'll take a break. We'll settle on our poll question. Phone calls are always welcome. Once again, Indiana has won the national championship in football. I just double checked. Take a break. We're back after this. The ex gay who married an ex lesbian and traveled the world, telling my story of how I changed my sexuality from gay to straight. Once upon a time I was on 60 Minutes, Oprah, the front cover of Newsweek, and you might have heard my story, but you've never heard the real story. So join me as I peel back the layers and expose what happened to me in the midst of of conversion therapy to shine a light on what the X Game movement does to people and the pain it continues to cause. I had lost £150 because if I couldn't control my sexuality, I was going to control my weight. It sounded like, and this is the word I used, occult. And as I look too at the harm I did from within it. Listen to Atonement, the John Paul story on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. New year, new goals, and in this economy, a better money plan is more necessary than ever. I am Matt. And I'm Joel. We are from the how to Money podcast and every week we help you to spend smarter, save more, and make sense of what's going on out there. If you want 2026 to be the year you finally feel in control of your money, we're here to give you the tools and advice to help you make it happen. Listen to how to Money on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there. This is Dr. Jesse Mills, director of the Men's Clinic at UCLA Health and host of the Mailroom podcast. Each January, guys everywhere make the same resolutions. Get stronger, work harder, fix what's broken. But what if the real work isn't physical at all? To kick off the new year, I sat down with Dr. Steve Poulter, a psychologist with over 30 years experience helping men unpack shame, anxiety and emotional pain they were never taught to name. In a powerful two part conversation, we discuss why men aren't emotionally bulletproof, why shame hides in plain sight, and how real strength comes from listening to yourself and to others. Guys are toxic. They're immature or they've got something they just haven't resolved. Once that gets resolved, then there comes empathy and some compassion. If you want this to be the year you stop powering through pain and start understanding what's underneath, listen to the mailroom on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows, we'll settle on our poll question. Get to your phone calls. E me I had Kurt Signetti get iupui and he was actually at Indiana, University of Pennsylvania, iup. And then he went to Elon, and then he went to James Madison. And here he is at Indiana as a national champ. We forget how long it takes for coaches to get to certain places, the different jobs that they have. You know, in 83 and 84, he's. And Davidson, then Rice, then Temple, then Pittsburgh, North Carolina State, Alabama, IUP, Elon, James Madison and then Indiana. It's a long, long road. It feels like he's become an overnight sensation after 25 years. Yeah. Paulie, would he be the comp for an actor to Tommy Lee Jones? I don't think he had his first hit till after 50. Your thoughts on that comp? I'd have to give. Give that a little more thought of actors who, it took a long time for them to finally get to a point where you go, oh, that's a great actor there. That's what we do here. I would say, though, we always talk about coaches leaving and will they leave with any sport. They're conditioned to leave. They've been raised to leave their entire life. It's like if it goes well, you, you make eight stops. Yeah, yeah. And he's not going anywhere anytime soon. At least you wouldn't think. And you know, they, they're probably not in the top 25 with recruiting this year. I don't know where they were with spending. I don't think they were up there in the top 20 in spending this year. I'm not going to say they did it the old fashioned way, but they kind of did. You know, there was a combo platter of we're not going to get the big time recruits. Even when Fernando Mendoza was, you know, transferring from Cal to Indiana. I, I say this to give Kirk Herbstreet credit, but also to kind of have everybody have that realization of nobody really focused on this. Herbie said, hey, keep an eye on this Fernando Mendoza. He was really good at cow that. That's all I remember about this transfer. But nobody said, oh my God, they got Fernando Mendoza. Miami didn't want Mendoza and he was from there. He became an overnight sensation after about four or five years. But this is what Kurt Signetti did. Get players maybe somebody else doesn't want, maybe they're a two star, coach them up, make them a four star. In some cases, make them a five star. Chris in Syracuse. Good morning, Chris. What's on your mind? Hey, thanks, Dan. Hey, Dan. I have a shout out to a couple of big IU football fans and a couple comments. Shout out to Dan Patrick, show Fan Tilly in Bloomington and also to the most prominent booster and longtime Indiana football fan, John Cougar Mellencamp. He has what the school calls a little wooden shack that they made for him and they attached it to the top of the stadium. And that's where he watches all the home games. He says nobody bothers him and he gets to smoke all the heaters he wants. And a lot of talk about Mendoza in that offense, but their defense and special teams deserves a lot of credit. That block punt last night was a game changer. And also Indiana football goes an undefeated 160 in a national title. Double that 16 and go back exactly 50 years for Indiana's last undefeated national champion. A lot of differences, but also a lot of similarities between coach Kurt Stag Netti and legendary coach Bobby Knight. Thank you, Chris. This is how the punt sounded on Learfield Sports. Dylan Joyce baccarat his own two to take the snap. And it's back to him. And the punt is on. Oh, it's blocked. Oh, that's huge. It is picked up. Touchdown Indiana. Isaiah Jones. And Indiana comes up with a tremendous play. But Kyle Kamara got the block on the kick. Three men rushing and they block the punt. Give credit to Chris Fowler in the start of the game, might have been Indiana or Miami's first punt where he said, hey, keep in mind that Indiana's blocked, I think four punts this year and turned out to be a prognosticator there. Yes, Marvin, I want to give that guy credit from Indiana because he did a great job. But that pass protection was pathetic. That effort was just terrible. Non existent. Yeah, it was weird that they were kind of like going through the motions of blocking to get down the field. And then, you know, you had these punters now who take off, you know, running, right, These, a lot of these Australian kickers, kickers from Australia, they do that Australian rules football where they kind of run to the right and then they kick. You run right into the guy who is, you know, coming in almost unblocked there. Three guys rushing on that punt. Andrew in Washington. Hi, Andrew. What's on your mind? Oh, good morning, Gandan. It's. Thanks for taking my call. Just a little bit on the national championship game. I think you brought it up in the first half. Why did Miami just run the ball? I think they were going to play a strength contest. I think they wanted to see who had the better line, who had the better offensive, the defensive. That's what we heard about this game going into it was it was going to be one in the trenches, as they say. And I think that they saw Indiana was winning, that Indiana had a better offensive line than they did defensive line. Now in the second half they said, yeah, we do have Malachi, Tony, we do have Mark Fletcher Jr. We do have better athletes. Let's let them athlete. And Miami almost just won it by pure athleticism. If that wasn't the. I think Miami would have won if, you know, they wouldn't have thrown that interception if he wouldn't have thrown under, thrown that ball so much. So a couple of stats that kind of surprised me about that game is Indiana's two fourth quarter fourth down conversions are the only one in college football playoff history. That's kind of crazy. And Also the last 160 college team I believe to win the National Championship 160 was Yale back in 1894. Thank you, Andrew. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. Paulie, would you check? If Miami didn't throw that interception, then they had a better chance of winning that game. I think a lot better. I'm going to back that up. Okay. He wanted that one back. Who? Andrew in Washington and Carson back. You know, they, they ran the ball on fourth down. I thought that that was it. Okay. Over the first seven games of the season, Indiana was 3 for 11 on fourth down. Over the last nine games they were 7 for 7, including 2 for 2 last night. The only team in FBS to convert all fourth down attempts over that span. Of the day. Start of the day. This is the start of the day. Curtin, Michigan. Hi, Kurt. What's on your mind today? Morning, Dan. Thank you for taking my call. I have another stat of the day for roll. We're on right now. Okay. Of the all of the wins in IU football history, Kurt Signetti is responsible for 5% of those wins in the past who knows how many years. Thanks, Dan. All right, thank you, Kurt. James in Virginia. Hi, James. Oh, thank you for taking my call, brother. Happy Tuesday. DP Dan X Man salute the commanders big time, all the time, every time, man. Love life, love living. But most importantly, man, love yourself. Because if you love yourself, anything is possible, man. Just want to throw some positivity out there, man. You got me thinking about a lot of things, man. Indiana winning the national championship is just mind blowing. I can't believe it. I got the perfect actor to play Signetti in the movie. Josh Brolin, man, that stared down with Signetti. They are just two one in the same, man. And then I got you got me thinking about going into next year. Who is the team with the most pressure to win the national championship next year? At least playing the game, Texas, lsu, Alabama or Ohio State, I kind of feel in Texas, I don't know. And I owe you a pie. Dp. You took my bet for San Francisco. They didn't make it. But what an NFC championship game we got. You know they're gonna be playing the Patriots in the super bowl, so we'll see how it goes, man. You guys have a wonderful day, man. Salute the commanders. All right, thank you, James. There was a false start by one of the Indiana linemen with two minutes to go. It's second and one and I went, oh, my goodness. And then they cut it over to Kurt Signetti and you could see where this, this is the one thing that's told to you in the huddle. Don't jump, don't jump, don't jump, don't jump. And all of a sudden just a slight twitch and now it's second and six. I'm going, oh, my goodness. You imagine if that would have cost them or led to the game winning drive. Now it can be one of those, you know, 20 years from now somebody will go, hey, remember when you had that false start? You know his nickname is going to be Flinch from now on. Instead of Fletch, it'll be Flinch. David in Ohio. Hi, David, what's on your mind? Yeah, Dan, just got a quick one here for you. Michael Irvin brought that Cowboys energy to Miami. Tons of swagger, zero payoff and an L when it matters. Thank you. Thank you, David. Man, the U was represented yet. Ed Reed there, Ray Lewis, Jason Taylor. And then of course you had Michael. Michael out for the coin toss. I think he was going out whether he was invited or not. It just feels like Mike's going out there, man. And I saw Ed Reed, Ed Reed was consoling a couple of players after the game. But you know, it was still great to see that group because. And you go back to 2001, who and that we had that discussion back in 2001. How would Miami do against the worst team in the NFL? And I remember might have been Cleveland back then. It could be Cleveland any year. But I think it was, how would Miami do against Cleveland? And I said, a pro team is going to win against college players. Yes, you. I did kind of love that moment where Carson Beck is getting ready to take the field for that final drive and he's standing next to Ray Lewis and Ray Lewis has a big smile. On his face. And if you're. I don't know exactly what he said, but it was something along the lines of like, this is football. Like, this is why we do this. This is the moment. You know, it's kind of cool to see that. And I think Carson Beck has been probably placed in the fourth round or fifth round of the draft. There was a time when, when he was at Georgia, people thought he was a first round draft pick, which I did not. I didn't see it. And I thought, okay, he's going to Miami, could use another season there. And you know, they go to the national title game. I don't know if. And once again, this is all speculation until they get to the combine, do interviews, all of that stuff, you know, get hand measured. I don't even know his hand size. Yeah, exactly. How are we supposed to really know this? Absolutely, we'll keep an eye on that story. But. And people made a big deal. Carson back at the end of the game, he didn't go and shake Mendoza's hand. There was a fight that was going on in the middle between a Miami player and Indiana player. And you know, he probably thought, you know what, I'm go to the locker room. I don't know. Carson Beckman, I don't think he's a great quarterback, but I think he got them to the national title game and he had a couple of big plays, big plays against Notre Dame. Probably going to be a fourth round pick, fifth round pick. Gaston. There are no excuses, in my opinion, to find a way somehow to get to Mendoza briefly. You don't have to sit down with him for a half hour or get down on knees and pray together as two teams. Just, you got to find a way. I'm sure you can grab some police officer or someone, sports information. Can you help me get over to Mendoza there safely? I just wanted to congratulate him for a second. There's got to be a way to do that. Okay, all right. Maybe you talk to him after the game. Maybe you talk away from cameras. We don't know. But you just throw an interception, you lose the game, and then it's chaos because Fernando Mendoza was being interviewed probably four or five minutes after that game was over. Maybe didn't have access. I don't, I don't know. I mean, I, I didn't get caught up in it that much. Normally we, we look at coaches, we don't look at players. I mean, sometimes you'll see quarterback in the NFL go and greet quarterback. We tend to have a Problem when it's coaches who don't talk to one another or you have a very quick handshake. Carson Beck not shaking Mendoza's hand. Not the end of the world. Let's see Paul in Iowa. Good morning, Paul. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. Well, it was a great game last night and thankfully Miami kept it interesting for most of the game. But you guys were asking about comparisons for this Indiana rise, and I think a really close comparison is the Ravens organization. They won a Super bowl in only their fifth year, I believe, as a team, as a franchise behind a dominating defense. I bet there's some stats that look kind of similar between the Indiana defense this year and that dominant Ravens defense. Yeah. And I know Miami was trying to go like toe to toe their offensive line against Indiana's. Well, it wasn't working. That's why I kept thinking, how long are you going to try to continue to run the ball up the middle? Before realizing I have, I have weapons here. We just have to use them differently. And I thought they should have kick started that earlier. But it wasn't an exciting game there in the first half. It did pick up considerably in the second half. Salmon St. Louis. Good morning, Sam. What do you have for me? Morning, Dan. How are you guys doing? Spectacular. Okay. My comment is the play of the offensive lineman that jumped outside if Carson Beck don't throw the interception and Miami wins that game. Is that gaff worse than Chris Weber comb the timeout in the Michigan game. Which one is worse? Well, it's not as direct, but you know, it's one of those moments where, I mean, things have to happen for Miami to still score a touchdown. It's not like, oh, that happened and then they won the national championship. But it is. It'll be one of those things that only Indiana fans will bring up years from now, decades from now. Remember when, you know, God drives me crazy because knowing what quarterbacks say when they go in the huddle for a moment like that, it's like whatever you do, do not jump. But you get in your stance, you get hyped up, the crowd, everything. You want to get off of your block. You win the national championship, get the first down, and then all of a sudden you jump. Yes. Well, that's what cost Miami the game as much as anything is some of the penalties they had. They kept bailing Indiana out at third and long over and over again. And then there would be a pass interference call or whatever, you know. Yeah, Ryan in Pennsylvania. Hi, Ryan. 5:10, 1:55 okay, I got a Kurt Signetti comp. Kristoff Waltz. Oh, Glorious Bastards. Hans Landa, the Jew hunter. Django Unchained, Dr. King Schultz, the Bouncy Hunter. Wow, I like that. Rye. Kristoff's vault wins two Academy Awards in Tarantino movies. Is he in his 50s or 60s? Yes. It's not a comp career wise, but someone suggested on social media that if we were casting the movie. Oh. Playing Kurt Signetti should be Dan Aykroyd and I support that. Okay. That is okay. Spot on. Yes. Paulie, how about someone like Bryan Cranston, similar age or almost. I think he had Malcolm in the Middle. No, I guess I'm saying who's going to play Kurt Signetti in the movie? Oh, I thought also getting famous a little later in life, you know, Tommy Lee Jones, I would guess 40 for Brian Cranston. He was a little later in his career for sure. Yeah. He had a cameo in Seinfeld. Yes, but Tim Whatley, the Dentist. Yes. What did I just see him in that? He was fantastic. Maybe the studio, I think I just, I just saw Bryan Cranston in a couple of things and oh my God, he was so good. He plays the studio boss in the studio. He's so good. And he's just a great actor. He really is. He's a great actor. Great, great actor. And. And you know, to go from Malcolm in the Middle to Breaking Bad to. Then I saw him on Broadway where he played Lyndon John. Like you just going. And he was also there for. They did network, I think on Broadway. A great, great actor. But Christoph Vault, that's a good call. I don't know how old Christoph Svaltz was when he won his first Academy Award. Yes, Paul, Bryan Cranston was 52 years old with the debut of Breaking Bad. Okay. Wow. It's pretty good. Yeah. I remember watching Inglorious Basterds. I said this to Seton the other day where, you know, sometimes you'll just watch a scene and you go, he's going to get nominated for the Academy Award with Christoph's Vault. He is in this farmhouse and he is a Nazi soldier and he's looking for Jews that are hiding and they're in the basement. And I said to my wife after the scene, I said, he just won the Academy Award. And she said, for what? I go for that movie, for that role right there. She goes, how do you know that? I go, he won the Academy Award, hun. I promise you. Then he end up winning it. Yeah. Paulie Vaults was 53 when that came out. Okay, all right. Vaults, vaults. It's fun to say Christophs vault. And then he was in Diango Dango. Unchained. Django Unchained. All right, let me take a break. Play that I didn't think that we were going to do. You know, acting comps for. I did not. Why? I don't know. And you're right about that. I should have thought. It's on you. Focus, Dan. Let's take a break. Our play of the day is next. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. He takes off running on a design quarterback. He has the first down. He spins into the end zone. What a play by Mendoza and what a call. Sean McDonough on the call in the mothership. A fourth down touchdown for Indiana. First player to win the Heisman and a national title in the same year since Alabama's Devonte Smith. That was back in 2020. That's nice. Is there going to be a movie? Is they'll Definitely be a 30 for 30. Hoosiers. Two hoosiers. T O o Hoosiers too. Like don't forget about these Hoosiers as well. I think I brought this up a couple of weeks ago. Better story. Indiana football wins the national title or the Hoosiers, the high school team winning the state title against all odds as well. A couple more phone calls. Mike in Kentucky. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind today? Morning, Darren. Dan, it's morning. Long time. Fourth time. So. So, Dan, I got to tell you in when. When Luke Fickle left Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati, Kurt Signetti interviewed for that head coach King job. The AD didn't give it to him because he didn't think that he could coach at that level yet. So I got a feeling he's got to be kicking himself in the rear this morning. Well, I'm sure there are a few athletic directors who are doing that, Mike, and I'm not going to just single out the Bearcats. But yeah, Kurt Signetti, you know, he was on Saban staff and then leaves and you go to a small school iup sounds like something Todd does. Elon College, James Madison. You're leaving Alabama staff. He goes to Saban and says, I'm leaving. And Saban is like, what? Why would you leave? He wanted to be a head coach. Dale in Indiana. Hi, Dale. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan, you know you mentioned Lee Corso earlier as one of those guys with Indiana ties, but I want to mention two names. Don Fisher, who's been the voice of Indiana basketball and football for over 50 years, and another guy, Terry Heppner. Those are two guys that came to my mind. Terry Heppner back in 2005, came in, brought a little life to Indiana football. Came from Miami University, Redhawks. They still have Hep's Rock there, Memorial Stadium. And I always go back to when they made the Insight bowl in 2007 after he passed away with his wife sitting on the field. Such an inspirational moment to think of where they were then and where they are now. So Terry Hepner's callback. Alright, thank you, Dale. Mike in Pennsylvania. Hi Mike. What's on your mind? Hey guys, how's it going this morning? Hey listen, before we go crazy making movies and all that, can we give think Nettie, maybe 10 years and look at a breadth of work from there. And also, how's about South Bend waking up this morning and realizing they aren't the best team in Indiana anymore? That's gotta be crazy. And what's that transfer Port Portal going to look like? Notre Dame had the number one recruiting class. I think Notre Dame has spent a lot of money and I think Notre Dame is going to be just fine. But the story is already written for Kurt Signetti. He won the national title. He was at these smaller schools. He won at these smaller schools. Yes. There should be hype around this. It's a two year turnaround to win the national championship. You know when you say, hey, Big Tens won three consecutive national championships. Oh yeah, Michigan, Ohio State and Indiana. Crazy. Yeah. Paulie in the movie Hoosiers. We didn't check back to see if they made the conference tournament the next year. It's over. They won. They won the Big game. We should check to see what happened after they won the state champions. Checking. Bobby Plump. I think he graduated that year. Yes. People suggesting on social media that the sequel would be called Twosiers. Okay. Pretty good. Okay. All right. I'm fine with it. That's. I'll wait for the 30 for 30. I don't know if the movie's gonna happen. Gonna have to cast Fernando Mendoza as well. Well, all we've done is cast. Maybe Keanu Reeves can play a quarterback again. Yes. Marvin. What about Kevin Costner for Signetti? He might be a little too good looking. Yeah. Someone just got insulted. Yeah. Yeah. Well, no, there's certain roles where. And I've lost out on roles. You're just better looking than you need to be in. In Sandler movies. That's why he uglies me up. Put a mustache on me. Wigs. Chase Daniel joins us in 10 minutes. He'll give you what he thinks about Fernando Mendoza, NFL quarterback. More of your phone calls as well. Hour two, right around the corner. This is an Iheart podcast. Guaranteed human.
