We made it to a Friday. It's a Meat Friday. It's the final Friday for Seton o' Connor as well. We have some tributes to him, some phone calls, some surprise guests, perhaps sprinkled throughout the next three hours here. But it is all about Seaton. Although I did walk in today. First person I see is Fritzi. And Fritz, he goes, you know, just want to let you know it's my half birthday. And I go, what?
Fritzi
Good preface to be saying. I don't want to share the spotlight with Seaton, but just let you know, it's my half birthday today. I'm also wearing a soccer shirt for just. It wasn't just a random choice on my part.
Dan Patrick
You're like 8 years old. You know when you tell me it's gonna be eight your half birthday, but I said, no, this is about Seaton. It's Seton's day today. Okay.
Fritzi
Absolutely is. I'm wearing a soccer. I don't think he's a big Manchester United fan, but that's what barely fits me right now.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Caller / Listener
All right.
Dan Patrick
Meat Friday. Seaton is the one who has the menu. I was told that you were going to reveal what the Meet Friday menu is today. Now let's. Do you want to guess? All right, Todd, you got one guest there. What do you think is on Seaton's menu today for a meat Friday?
Fritzi
Something involving ribs.
Dan Patrick
All right. What about you, Marvin?
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
Shepherd's pie.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Holy.
Paulie
I've been thinking about this. I think Seon's going to go big and unique. I think he's going to pick stuff that we like.
Dan Patrick
I think that he's going to go small.
Danielle Fishel / Ryder Strong
Oh.
Dan Patrick
I think he's going to do a lot of little or Diesel.
Todd
Seaton, the menu today is.
Dan Patrick
Okay, here we go. This is the last supper.
Todd
Starters, we have kumamoto oysters with a pesto mignonette.
Dan Patrick
Wow. That's right in my wheelhouse.
Todd
We also have pigs in a blanket.
Ben
Wow.
Fritzi
See, I'm going in the kitchen right now.
Todd
The main entree. Blt's no tea.
Dan Patrick
Paulie.
Todd
Paul Pabstaple.
Paulie
See, and I have a relationship with blt.
Todd
Not if you perhaps thirsty. We have smoked Shirley Temples.
Dan Patrick
Fun. Come on, Marvin. For the.
Todd
For marvelous. And then for me, I consider this to be. I mean, not even really arguably, but arguably one of the top five culinary inventions of all time. I mean, if you put, like, fire, the knife, refrigeration, canning, and then the chip witch. So for dessert, we're having chip witches. Because chip witch is the most elite culinary creation of all time.
Fritzi
Great call.
Dan Patrick
Who has it better than we do. Alrighty. Well, your Phone calls are welcome. 8 7, 7, 3, DP show email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle the DP Show. Todd just sent me a limerick that has to do with Seton. We'll have that for you coming up. Once again, Todd is about Seton today.
Fritzi
It's a limerick about.
Dan Patrick
Okay, it kind of feels like it's. It's. It's. Are we hijacking today? You can't do this.
Fritzi
Just put it on the website to prove that that's not about, like, me doing a Seton limerick. It's a Seton limerick.
Dan Patrick
Okay. You didn't send it to Paulie.
Fritzi
I did not. There was nothing. He needs to say that when it's something dirty or inappropriate so we don't get FCC violations, I don't get fired
Dan Patrick
because I started the day. Brought to you by Pan America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. This has got Friday Fritz, he written all over him.
Fritzi
It's not about that.
Dan Patrick
Enough.
Fritzi
Don't even start there.

Rory McElroy and Sam Burns at five under leading the Masters. But just in case you're not aware of this, in the last 25 years, only four eventual Masters winners were leading or tied for the lead after the first round. Trevor? No, no, not yet.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
I got excited. No, not excited.
Dan Patrick
Don't you think people would want to know? Well, who were those golfers?
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
No, we don't remember them, but go ahead.
Dan Patrick
Trevor Immelman, 2008. Jordan Spieth, 2015. Dustin Johnson, 2020. John Rom, 2023. Stat of the day, brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. Rory hit five of 14 fairways yesterday. But this is what this event is all about. You're going to have birdies, you're going to have eagles. It's when you are staring at a bogey, double bogey, and then how do you recover? And that's what Roy did yesterday. As the great Payne Stewart once told me, my sport is not about the makes, it's the misses. How bad are your misses? And how do you recover from that? And I thought that that was wise advice. When you're watching an event, these guys somehow, some way get out of trouble. 8, 7, 7, 3, DP show operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. The final days of the NBA regular season, I did look at the odds. Draftkings sent me the odds for rookie of the year with Con Caniple as the favorite over Cooper flag. I think this is crazy. I do. Now we're going to factor in, well, Con Cany's playing on a playoff team. Yes, and they've been a wonderful surprise this year. But he's the third option on a playoff team now. He's overachieved. I love that he's overachieved, but he's not the best rookie in the game. Cooper flag is 19, carrying a team. Now, they're not a good team, which makes it even more impressive that everybody in the building knows he's the one who's going to have the ball and try to score. Con Caniple gets the benefit of being a third option. Wonderful shooter, but Cooper flag should be, maybe not overwhelming, but he should. He should cruise to being rookie of the year. In my opinion, his season's a whole lot tougher than Con Canipples. Cooper flag is carrying a team. Con Caniple is part of a team. But now we're going to factor in, well, he's making the playoffs. I cannot remember when we were voting on rookie of the year when somebody ever said, well, did his team make the playoffs? Normally, if you're going to get a player who's going to be rookie of the year, he's probably going to a bad team, therefore probably not making the playoffs. But I don't think we ever held somebody accountable for that. Where we go, you know, he didn't make the playoffs because when Grant Hill and Jason Kid tied for the rookie of the year, I don't know if their teams made the playoffs. I got to remember, and I voted on the award back then, Cooper flag is your rookie of the year. It should not be in question if they want to do a tie. Okay. Actually, if you get to that point, then just give it to Con Knipple. Like, I don't. I don't want a manufactured tie. And I don't know if they did that with Jason Kidd and Grant Hill, but it ended up a tie. I think there was one other tie. Was it Jeff Petrie and Dave Cowens in 1970 that they somehow tied? Jeff Petrie played for Portland, Dave Collins for the Celtics. I think that was 1970. Am I right, Paulie?
Paulie
I don't see that. I'm looking. I don't see that. We're checking though.
Dan Patrick
I could have made it up, but I thought that there was a tie for.
Paulie
I got a tie for the all star game. MVP in 59. No, that wouldn't end before all of our times.
Dan Patrick
Maybe it was just Jeff Petrie won the Rookie of the Year. I don't know. Petri could dish. Oh, I see what you did. Petrie dish.
Todd
Thank you, Todd.
Dan Patrick
Fair enough. What's some poll question on your font? Yes, Marvin.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
Dave Collins named the 1971 CO Rookie of the Year, sharing the award with Portland's Jeff Petrie.
Dan Patrick
All righty. That's a walk off, but since this is we need show, I'm going to stay. Do you want to.
Todd
I appreciate that.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Do you want to come up with a poll question?
Todd
Well, I think we have two. One sort of obvious one, one. I don't know if you really want to get into this or not, but we'll do an NBA Rookie of the Year Cooper flag. Right? Those are the two options.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yeah.
Todd
So I don't know if you want to talk about this, but how'd you feel about the Par 3 contest?
Dan Patrick
I loved it. Yeah, I loved it. Now, I know some people said, well, why did. Why is Jason Kelsey there? And look, ESPN is carrying it. They're going to try to somehow get their talent in there. I mean, I'm surprised Stephen A. Smith or Pat McAfee weren't involved in it in some way. But that's the ESPNification of an event.
Fox Sports Radio Announcer
Windham Clock.
Dan Patrick
Can't putt, can't chip, can't do anything, can't win them claw. Stephen A. Smith doing golf would be Shaw Swartzel.
Paulie
Can't pronounce it, can hit left, can hit right.
Dan Patrick
That would be funny. Just have. You know, even Saturday Night Live doing a Stephen A. Smith doing the Masters would be pretty funny. Yes.
Todd
Stephen A. Will drop it down sometime when he's got something really serious he wants to talk about.
Paulie
Nobody likes Patrick Reed.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Todd
Tiger Woods. Not at this. Oh, and I just went into O.J.
Paulie
yeah, totally different.
Dan Patrick
Well, well, people are going to ask for your impersonations here and your last show today. So you already gave Moj nobody world and nobody asked me.
Todd
Your old pal O.J.
Dan Patrick
yeah.
Caller / Listener
All right.
Dan Patrick
My old pal O.J.
Todd
you're going to be in Augusta this weekend.
Dan Patrick
I'm not telling you where I'm going to be anytime. You know, I never. I never talked to O.J. after the interview I did with him. I never.
Paulie
What, are you going to keep in touch?
Dan Patrick
Well, no.
Todd
Hey, Juice, Just want to you got a little awkward in the interview there. I wanted to make sure we were okay.
Paulie
You want to play nine?
Dan Patrick
Well, yeah.
Todd
Juice?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
I've been shocked if you told me. You know, Paul, after the interview, OJ And I became fast friends.
Dan Patrick
Well, no, I. I just would have thought that that was like 2016 or something.
Todd
I mean, we really haven't heard his
Paulie
side of the story.
Dan Patrick
That's true. To be fair, I have witnesses on my side when I was interviewing O.J. still, one of the dumbest ideas I've ever had. You know, let's just talk football with OJ Yeah, let's forget about those pesky double murders here. Okay. We'll get phone calls coming up and let me see. So what's pull quite. You're going to do a couple of them here?
Todd
Yeah, I'm going to put up the rookie of the year one to start and I'll see. I'm going to put up the par 3 one as well. It seemed to be semi controversial on.
Dan Patrick
Was it just because of Jason Kelsey?
Chris
Maybe.
Dan Patrick
Oh, Kevin Hart was there. Okay.
Todd
I like Kevin Hart. I don't have any problem with him being around.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, okay.
Buddha / Dylan / Other Callers
Right.
Dan Patrick
Jason Kelsey. It felt like that bothered people that, like, come on, you know, does he have to be involved in everything? Yes, Paulie.
Paulie
Yeah, it's one of those things, like, I know what you're trying to do. You're trying to spice it up and bring in people who would normally not
Dan Patrick
watch, but you don't need that. I don't know if anybody goes, wait a minute, Jason Kelsey's there. I'm watching.
Paulie
That's what they're banking.
Dan Patrick
Maybe his wife and kids would be watching, but I, I'm. I didn't even know he was there. And I was watching a lot of it. I saw Kevin Hart before with Bryson DeChambeau, but I. It's not like I go, man. That's all about the beauty of the par three, the kids, the atmosphere with these, you know, golfers who were being dads. I mean, that's the fun part. Their wives, girlfriends are out there. Yeah. Seaton.
Todd
It's almost like they're like, how do we just get a touch of waste management openness, Right? Let's get a touch of the Phoenix in here. How about that?
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
Pour a beer in his head, dip
Todd
our toes and do it a little bit. Maybe just for the par three. How about that? That's what it feels like.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I just.
Fritzi
I don't know.
Dan Patrick
I didn't need it then when I caddied For Peter Jacobson, we weren't on camera. They weren't, they didn't televise the par 3 back then. But I did it because I was actually doing a story on being in the par 3. Or, you know, Fred Couples was in our group and Payne Stewart, Peter Jacobson. But, you know, I was actually carrying his clubs. This is back in the 90s. And, oh, I didn't know how to do, like, the double loop bag. Oh. And I was walking. And I remember now, you know, everybody's walked. They don't know I'm caddying and, and, you know, so I'm just walking and all of a sudden I know that the bag is slipping and the clubs are going to come out. And the bag turned. All of the golf clubs came out like a bit. And, and everybody's laughing, except for Peter Jacobson because he's realizing, I gotta play with those clubs. And then he catches himself and he starts laughing because everybody else is laughing. And I just remember his advice to me because I said, all right, what do I need to know? He goes, keep up, Shut up. And one other thing. And maybe don't spill all of my clubs there. But it was like, oh, show up. Shut up. Keep up. And I did all those, but I dropped all of his clubs out. And, man, that was one of those where if looks could kill. Rest in peace. But then everybody's laughing and so Jacobson, who's got a great sense of humor, started laughing. And I don't know if he was pleased with me. Yeah, they love, I mean, that's like their, their glove or their baseball bat. That's. They, they, they cherish that more. They know where that is than, you know, their wife is. You know, it's like, I gotta put my clubs in the front seat. Hun, can you sit in the back seat? Okay, we're just getting started and obviously your phone calls are welcome. Rich Eisen will join us a little later on. Doc Rivers going into the hall of Fame, will stop by. Mike Vaccaro, who's written a book on George Steinbrenner. He will join us a little bit later on as well. We'll take a break. Just getting started. all right, say good morning if you're watching on Peacock, our streaming partner. Download the app if you haven't done so. NBC Sports Network also carries this program and we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country over 400 cities. I mentioned that Con Canople is a favorite slight favorite over Cooper Flag to win rookie of the year and I had big day Ray. Look at the last 10 rookies of the year and how many of those players their teams made the playoffs. Normally if you're getting a rookie who's that good, he's going to a bad team. But Stefan Castle did not make the playoffs. Wemby Paolo Bancaro, Scotty Barnes did make the playoffs. Lamelo? No. John Morant? No Luca? No Ben Simmons Yes. Brogdon. Yes. Carl Anthony Towns. No. Wiggins. No. It doesn't come up. It hasn't come up. But it is coming up this year because Con Canople, I think surprised a lot of people and set the rookie record for made threes. No one can deny his contributions to a team in the playoffs. But Cooper Flag is every single night, every single night. And I thought this was going to be. He'll be the third option like Con Canopoli is with the Hornets. He is the option, he is the offense, he is the point guard. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, a couple things on Cooper Flag and you know, I'm first team all Con Knipple. Cooper Flag is a year and a half younger than Con Knippel in real age. Cooper Flag's rookie year matches up real well with LeBron's. Cooper is averaging 21 points per game, six rebounds, five assists. So I'm sorry, seven rebounds, five assists. LeBron James rookie year almost exactly. 21 points a game, five rebounds, six assists. And they both had spotty supporting casts at best. I mean, LeBron's supporting cast was, you know, probably better. Ricky Davis and Carlos Boozer and Big Z and Cooper Flag doesn't have anybody really these days.
Dan Patrick
No. And you know, I thought that with Kyrie and Anthony Davis he would be the, the third option there and that Kyrie would put him in position, you know, positions to succeed. Now he's got to create and I think that's what's been pretty amazing for anybody of, you know, that 19, 20, 21 years of age to come in and do what he's doing.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
Yes, Marvin, I think those scoring outbursts that he's had past couple of weeks has put him over the top to where now he's in the same conversation as Allen Iverson as being the only rookies to put up 40 plus in consecutive games. They're up there with Wilt Chamberlain. So anytime you're in that same conversation that put you over the top.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but Con Can Apple is still the favorite. And this after Cooper flag put up 51 and 45 back to back games here. Yeah, Marvin, Rookie of the Year, like
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
your record should not affect who wins Rookie of the Year. It's whoever the best rookie was that season.
Dan Patrick
I agree.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
I think LeBron won Rookie of the Year over Carmelo. Carmelo's Nuggets made the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
I know.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
And LeBron's didn't.
Dan Patrick
I know. I, I remember somebody brought that up recently to mellow and it's like he never forgot that. Like it still bothers him that he should have been rookie of the year instead of LeBron and their team made the playoffs in Denver.
Paulie
Yes, Paulie, I had the voting from that year. LeBron got 78 first place votes. Carmelo got 40. That's quite a bit. Okay, well, Kirk Heinrich got none.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
No, no offense.
Dan Patrick
Con canipple though, is the slight favor according to.
Paulie
Sorry.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin

Dan Patrick
Dylan.
Buddha / Dylan / Other Callers
Just kidding. But dp, you guys are talking about Dylan's interim title while sitting in Seaton seat earlier this week. And I was thinking it would be awesome to have him wear a vest with the name Prospect on the back a la Sons of Anarchy. Just. Just an idea. It's all about content. And to Seaton, my man, watching you evolve has been, well, like management said back in the day, solid and improving and going from the front row to the back and really being the fulcrum at times for the show. In many ways, it was an honor to hang with you in San Francisco when you guys came out. I really enjoyed that and I just wanted to say all the things that have been said about him has been awesome. But I'll never forget while here in San Francisco during the super bowl shows, seeing Seaton come out early, early pre show every day, greeting everyone in line, taking the time that truly showed everything about who he is to me and what you've done will not be forgotten. You set a standard, bro. Well done. I appreciate you and I will see you in Tahoe.

And, yeah, I just appreciate you always being so personable, responding to messages. I got to meet you in Denver when you're out here with Mako a few months ago, and it was really, really cool, especially because I had to kind of dip out of work midday to come do it. But you were super awesome. Said hi to everybody, took a picture, and it was a bummer that I had to leave a little early, but it was really cool to meet you, and I just appreciate everything that all of you guys do, but especially you See, man. Have a great one, dude.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Ron. Chris in Syracuse. Hi, Chris.
Chris
Hey, thanks, Dan. Hey, I got something for you. And I wanted to say something to Seaton and Dan, I don't know if you mentioned this early in your first segment, but in one of the biggest upsets or maybe maybe the biggest upset in sports history, Michigan Wolverine hockey was eliminated from the Frozen Four last night. And Seaton, I'm excited you're still going to be on the DP show, you know, in person and calling in from time to time, which is great. And I hope we can have a picture of you hanging in the Dan Cave, maybe an old calendar picture. And I don't know what your walk off song is going to be, but I'm imagining the end of goodwill hunting afternoon delight as you drive off like Will down the road to a new and exciting chapter in your life. We'll catch you on the flip side, Seaton.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. The Denver. Denver University pulled off the surprise and now the title game. NCAA hockey. Wisconsin is favored over Denver. I couldn't help but think when I saw that was a great finish, went into overtime with Denver and Michigan. The caller who called in to ask why we don't give Michigan more credit, and then even mentioning the hockey program, and that was the first thing I thought of is karma, man. You know, hey, come on, you got to be talking about Michigan and you know, what about our hockey team? And all of a sudden, Denver pulls off a big surprise. Dylan is a Denver University grad. Well, he went there I don't know if he's a grad, but he. He did go there. Du. He's got his DU sweatshirt on today. Andrew in Washington. Welcome back, Andrew.
Caller
Hey, good morning, Dan. Dan, it's. Thanks for taking my call. I got a couple of comments and a few thoughts on Seaton. My first comment is rookie of the year. Points, rebounds, assist. Cooper flag leads. Con Nipple. He's the winner. There should be not a discussion. Second of all, Christian Laitner, not a hall of Famer. Doc Rivers, hall of Famer, mediocre NBA career. One title with the first super team. I think Christian Laettner needs to get in. Like you said, Dan Seaton, totally appreciate you. Over all these years, we have a little similarity in timeframes in our lives, when our kids were born, when we're married, different things like that. And, you know, when you track with somebody, even though we didn't personally know each other, I feel like we did just because of the radio show and how you connect to the radio audience. I think you connected as the most relatable Dan at throughout the years as far as what you're going through in life, how you open up, you talk about your struggles, you let people in. You do a great job at that. You know, it is frustrating to hear that a brand needs to be built bigger over the next year and a half as it actually ends, but I get it. And you're doing something that's better for you and your family, and that's great. I'm not really look forward. One of the core four is finally gone. You know, Todd, you, Polly Dan, Core 4. But good luck. Great decision, and we'll miss you every day, but hopefully when you pop in, we'll get to see you.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Andrew. Yeah. You know, McLovin was here for 12 years, and we replaced him with Marvin. It's just different, you know, because somebody can say, well, the show isn't as the same. No, it's not. And it won't be the same when we put Dylan in Seaton's chair. It'll be different, but it's about growth. It's about growth for Seaton. It's about growth for Dylan. It's about growth for the show. We're not easing into retirement. We're not easing into the end of this show. I. I want to go out with guns blazing. I want this to be still the preeminent show in America. That's our goal. It's always been our goal. Let's see Mo in Raleigh Amo.
Buddha / Dylan / Other Callers
Hey, D.P. how's it going, my friend?
Dan Patrick
Awesome.
Buddha / Dylan / Other Callers
I just wanted to call and say, you know, I'm so, so happy for Seaton Dylan. It's going to be some big shoes to fill, but I'm sure they'll be filled well. But I'm so inspired by Deaton and what he's done with turning his life around. So much so that it's had effect on me and I look forward in his future endeavors. I will have to say, when your show ends, so does sports television for me.
Caller
Dp.
Buddha / Dylan / Other Callers
That's how much you guys have meant to me.
Dan Patrick
Mo, thank you. Thank you for the kind words. How you doing over there?
Todd
Okay. I mean, technically it's nine and a half for my feet. It's not. It's not huge shoes to fill.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Because Dylan is like a size 13
Todd
or he's got massive shoes. Me and Wayne Gretzky, by the way. Same size. Just saying.
Dan Patrick
Who has bigger hands, you or Gretzky?
Todd
His are better than mine.
Dan Patrick
Better.
Todd
His are much better than mine.
Dan Patrick
Gus in LA. Hi, Gus. Welcome back.
Caller / Listener
Good morning, Mr. Patrick. Hoping the boys had a great week. Just wanted to quickly wanted to call on here, man. You know, Seaton, you're one of the first people that I spoke to back in 2012 when I first called upon the show, man, you've been a staple of the show. You've been there since day one, man. All the time that I was able to to see you guys, you were always one of the first ones to shake my hand and yo, man, I know you're gonna be associated with the show, but you know, to be able to not hear that infectious laugh from time to time, man, that's gonna be an adjustment. And I know the show's gonna be coming to an end soon and everything, but just to like kind of like adjust a little bit. No shade to Dylan. He's a great dude and I can't wait to hear him on there. But just want to say happy trails, man. And I'm excited to see what the future is gonna hold for you and. Yeah. All right. You boys have a great weekend.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Gus. As always. Steve in New Hampshire. Hi, Steve. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Hey, guys, how are you?
Dan Patrick
Good.
Caller
I just wanted to say for Seaton, I used to listen to you guys on the radio and then back in December, I injured my knee working my part time job at the fire academy. So I've been laid up pretty much ever since then. And I started watching you guys on T Talk and you guys have been a huge part of my of the recovery. And as a fellow Patriots fan, I appreciate Seaton's Tom Brady take and I just want to wish him the best of luck on his future endeavors and he'll be missed, but I know we all look forward to seeing him on the on locations, so thank you.
Dan Patrick
Steve. Yeah, Seaton's going to be a part of the show, as I've mentioned, but it's going to be out on the road. He's going to help grow our business with the big German when we go to Tahoe, we go to the draft, go to the super bowl, but other things as well. And we'll keep you updated with that, whether it's on the newsletter@danpatrick.com or on the show itself. Ben in Iowa. Hi, Ben. What's on your mind today?
Ben
Hey, bonus, thanks for taking my call. I've got a quick comment and a stat of the day, which I'm gonna rock out with the OG Justin Marvin. So if you could get the band ready, I'd appreciate it. My comment celebrating Seaton, who once chose
Dan Patrick
a heater over Jeter.
Ben
Sounds like you made a better choice with this job change. Other we're going to miss you on the air. I'm thrilled for you, your family, everything you've got going on with the online presence and deep DP show excursions. I'm going to like it, love it, grant it, share it, all the things. Did you know, though, it's been 10 years since I've delivered a stat of the day on the show and Seaton used to cue me up, but now it's Marvin's turn.
Buddha / Dylan / Other Callers
Strike up the band,
Dan Patrick
O'.
Ben
Donner. You could spend your birthday week with a great bike ride across Iowa. We call it Ragbrai. And this year's trek will be the shortest overall route in the event's history.
Solaray Advertiser
Yeah.
Ben
391 miles.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Ben. Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America. We were all gathered in New York. We were at a bar and we wanted to see Derek Jeter get his 3,000 hit. And we're this 11 years ago and we're in a bar and Jeter is going to come to the plate. Seaton decides he's going to go outside and smoke a cigarette. So he goes outside, we're all packed in this bar and all of a sudden Jeter gets the base hit.
Todd
Yeah, I think it's Derek Jeter's last
Caller / Listener
game
Todd
at Yankee Stadium. I want to say, is he playing
Dan Patrick
the Red Sox and he's got a base Hit to right field. He.
Todd
So he had. He had. We were out with a big group of people, and he had just gotten up, and somebody was just like, ah, I'm gonna go grab a cigarette. I was like, oh, I'll go with you. Like, why not cut a butt real quick, you know? And then all of a sudden, I don't know how long I was out there, but he got up very fast,
Dan Patrick
and that was it. So it wasn't his 3,000th. It was his last home game.
Paulie
Paulie, I got it. September 25, 2000, 2014. We were in New York City to do the show. Eight of us were out at a pub, and you and I are standing next to each other. Jeter gets up. Bottom of the ninth, five five against Baltimore.
Fox Sports Radio Announcer
Baltimore.
Paulie
And we start. You and I start jumping up and down. You're grabbing my shoulders. And I look to my left, and I look outside in a haze of smoke and blase anus is Seaton o' Connor firing up a grit on a corner in lower Manhattan as the bar is going berserk outside the White Eagle
Dan Patrick
or whatever that was. What was that? Not the White. White Oak tab.
Paulie
White Horse Tavern.
Todd
White Horse, yeah.
Paulie
West Village.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah.
Todd
Or the West Village at the White Horse Tavern. I was like, oh, yeah, dude, I'll go grab a smoke with you real quick. And all of a sudden, I think Paulie came running out, like, did you miss it?
Dan Patrick
Walk off.
Paulie
I grabbed him. He's still holding onto the smoke. No smoking. No smoking in here.
Dan Patrick
We'll take a break. Doc Rivers, top of next hour. Mike Vaccaro of the New York Post, who is written a book about George Steinbrenner and the Yankees. Rich Eisen will stop by as well. Our play of the day is up next.

deep to left field. That'll get it done all the way over the wall. A grand slam to win it. And Xander Bogarts over the fence. His second home run of the season. A walk off grand slam. And the Padres do it the fun way. In the bottom of the 12th inning, seven three, the finals score.
Dan Patrick
Padres Radio Network your play of the day. Xander Bogarts has nine career grand slams. Only two active players have more than he does. Manny Machado has 14, Jen Carlo Stanton has 11. That's your play of the day. Play of the Day brought to you by the folks who will be there on draft night There with us every night it's Miller Light with your crew. Crack a Miller Light. You can be there for every moment that matters during the NFL draft week. Miller Light. Legendary moments start with the Light. Mike Florio brought this up, I don't know, a couple of days ago, a couple of weeks ago, and he said we don't have a date for the super bowl in Atlanta. Now the reason why that caught my attention is I'm retiring at the super bowl in Atlanta, but we don't have a date. And Mike said he thinks the reason why it's remained open as far as what week it's going to be is because we're going to get to an 18 game schedule. Now nobody's confirmed or denied that, but it feels like it's loose because you got a book, you know, rooms there. I mean this is a big deal. There's a lot of planning going into this. But you know, Florio brought it up on Pro Football Talk Live that why is it still up in the air? Usually they're locked in so they can let you know. Companies know, fans know, teams know, everybody know. This is when it is. This is the week and you're blocking off hotel rooms. But Florio, I think doing some probing, came away with the. Maybe by then there's an 18 game schedule and the game would be played at the end of February. Yes, Paulie.
Paulie
Yeah. He said based on the current NFL model of 17 games, the game in Atlanta should be February 13, 2028. So he's speculating. And if there is an 18 game season, which would bump it back a week, and if you add an extra bye week now, you're looking at February 27th as Super Bowl Sunday.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I know. Well, we're not surprised. And you know, the NFL said they haven't really engaged or talked about. The commissioner said this, which isn't true because I. I've talked to somebody who has talked about it, and that is an 18 game schedule. And, you know, when's the season start, how many bye weeks? You know, all of that. You got to do the math here. And that it would end at the end of February. And that's what Florio has been talking about. Fritzi has a limerick that he wrote and it's for what?
Paulie
Paul, it is really funny that this actually affects your career in this show. It's not, you know, because you said you're definitely staying for that Super Bowl.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
And we could add two plus weeks of shows.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Paulie
It's real.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So I want to know, like, I don't even know when I tell my family when I'm going to retire.
Paulie
You got a cruise booked?
Dan Patrick
I think later.
Caller
That's.
Dan Patrick
No, no, not a cruise. But it. But it is. My wife goes, what if we bring the family? I go, I don't think so. She goes, well, it's your last show. I don't know. I don't know. It just seems like too much going on. Yes.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
Marvin, does that mean us?
Dan Patrick
No, no. You guys are there and we're doing the show there. I'm talking about my family.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
No, no, no. The cruise.
Dan Patrick
No, there's no cruise. No Tom Cruise. That's it. So Italy, Terry Crews. No, no, no, no.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
We do the Dan Patrick show.
Dan Patrick
No, my wife wants to do something and I said it's okay. Doesn't matter. You know, Manja. Yeah. No, I'll get to Italy.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
We will get to.
Buddha / Dylan / Other Callers
I know.
Dan Patrick
No, my wife and I will get to Italy. Ap.
Amazon Advertiser / Marvin
I already spent money on stuff that I really can't afford, so.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Mind you. Okay. Still working on citizenship for my wife. Man, they keep moving the goalpost here on me. I don't think they want. They may not want us in Italy. I don't know.
Todd
They just moved the goal post pretty far. If I'm not mistaken. They really made it tough.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Because we started at Covid, so it's six years.
Todd
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
We're being like, okay, we got my wife's mother and the family and papers, and we did everything. And then all of a sudden, we did crickets.
Todd
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
They go. They move slowly. How slow? I'm going to die, you know. And then they go, well, we'll let you know. And then all of a sudden, they change, you know, And I go, I said to my wife, I said, honey, I don't. I don't think I can get your citizenship. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, is it dual citizenship, that type
Dan Patrick
of thing, or I won't get it. You won't. My. My kids will.
Paulie
Right.
Dan Patrick
But I can then apply think in five years. Yes.
Todd
Yeah. And in order for you to get it, because my family's going through the same process in Italy, you have to pass like a fluency test. You have. You have a much different threshold to get citizenship than just sort of the family line.
Dan Patrick
All right, Todd, here you go. The show is not about you, but you want to make it about you. So go ahead with your limerick about
Fritzi
Seaton Jimmy Jimmerson soccer. That laugh. And that's nowhere even close to half. Love of music impressions, the poll, strong opinions that make the show roll. Always valued member of our staff.

All right,

thank you, Todd. That really meant a lot.
Paulie
Thank you, Todd.
Todd
I appreciate that. That was a sincere thank you, Todd.
Fritzi
I took it that way.
Todd
Not a damn thank you, Todd.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Fritzi
It needs to be distinguished. Unfortunately.
Todd
It does. It does. Thank you, Todd. It sounds like a negative. I swear it wasn't there.

Thank you, Todd.
