Today is the day. March Madness. Now, we get to 64 teams, we're ready to go, and, you know, Sunday at the Masters, you got college football on New Year's Day, NFL and Thanksgiving, everything carries a tradition. March Madness hits different because, you know, the interesting part is no champions crowned today. So all this is. Is just survival. Today, tomorrow, and then the weekend. That's all you want to do. Can you get through the weekend? Because then you get a little bit of time, you get some publicity for your school, and then you get a few days before your next round. But the urgency is unmatched. That's what I love about it, because you're just trying to get something that's fleeting and the margins razor thin. The upsets will come. They always do. And that's always the hook. Because for two days, it's. We. We kind of throw ourselves in, like studying for a final, cramming for a final all night to go and take it and then come away and act like, you know, college basketball. You win, you move on. You lose, you go home. It's simple, it's brutal, it's exhilarating, it's addicting. It's Madness. And that's what we love about it. All right, so get your brackets in. So usually, obviously, the goal is to pick winners in the tournament. We're going to do the opposite. There's plenty of letdowns in the tournament. We're going to take the top four seeds. So a pool of 16 teams and each draft, three teams that we want to or not want to, we think will not do well. So you get knocked for advancing.

But do I get more points if I say I'm going to take Duke as the number one seed?

Yeah. So you'll get four points for that. We'll go in reverse order. So if you take a one seed, you get four points, two seed, three, three seed.

Okay, all right, that's fine. But every year I always, I call them the Chargers of college basketball. I think they're going to win. I hope they're going to win and they don't win and then they bow out early usually. But this year, and even when I was filling out my bracket and then I gave it to the back room guys to type it up so we could show it. If you're watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network. And then Mario goes, Arizona. And I go, yep, yep, this is the year. Yes.

Dylan, I feel like Arizona and the Chargers have sort of broken you. You just keep coming back, no matter how mean they are.

Yeah, but I haven't done that with the Chargers in a couple of years.

And I think when Philip Rivers was there, that was the last time. I don't do it anymore. But Arizona basketball, we're all in. Let's go, cats. Come on now. And there's, there's going to be a couple of players where you go, that guy's a star, at least for a day, a weekend, five days. And the one guy that I think you're going to like, well, okay. The way I used to play basketball, I love this guy. Now, remember Jack Golke at Oakland? He knocked off Kentucky. I think he was 23 years of age. And I remember having Caliperi on when he was at Kentucky. I go, did you think about double teaming the guy? And oh, yeah, smart ass. And I go, just saying, that guy was crushing you. High points. Chase Johnston, he's attempted, I believe, four or five two point shots this year. He shot four free throws. He is 64 for 132 from three point range. He makes 48 and a half percent from three point range. Seaton, that would be stat of the day.

Hey, thanks Dan. Got a couple things for you and a question for you. Yeah, Miami of Ohio proved last night they belong in the tourney and SMU proved the ACC is not the dominant basketball conference it once was from top to bottom. And Dan, earlier in the week you talked about Don Nelson's unique shooting style. I loved when he used to take foul shots. He'd shoot him one handed and he held the ball so daintily it was like he was holding a newborn. And also earlier in the Week. Dan, you mentioned that you and your wife worked at cnn, and I can't remember exactly this Final Four story, but while you were working a Final Four for cnn, didn't you and your future wife go on one of your first dates and you kind of had a Good Will Hunting moment? You pushed your press pass across the bar and said, sorry, guys, gotta go see about a girl.

No, it wasn't that.

But it was Villanova, Georgetown, title game. And I went on a date. One of my first dates with my wife. We went to Chinatown in New York, and there's no monitors back. You know, nobody cares about a basketball game. But I wanted to prove to her how much she meant to me. It's like, I don't need to watch the national title game, even though I was going to either Georgetown or Villanova, whoever won the title to cover the parade. Well, Villanova shocks the world, beats Patrick Ewing, John Thompson. And my wife, at the end of dinner, goes into the bathroom, and I call the hotline number at cnn, and I said, hey, can you give me an update on the game? And they go, oh, you didn't see it? Now, in this business, you never want to be told or ask. Oh, you didn't see it because then, you know, oh, my goodness. And then they told me the whole story. You know what? Harold Jensen was on fire in the second half, and Villanova shocked Georgetown. And just then. So I. I'm at a pay phone in the Chinese restaurant, and I hang up the phone, and then my girlfriend, now my wife, comes out, and she goes, what? I go, nothing. She goes, no, something. What? Something bad happened? I go, no, no, not at all. Was it the basketball game? I said, yes, it was. And I said, villanova pulled up, pulled off one of the bigger upsets of all time, and she goes, are you mad? I go, no, no, not at all. I said, but I'm gonna have to go to Philadelphia for the victory parade. But not right now. Not right now. But, yeah, that was one of my first dates, but I was like, I'm gonna show her I'm not a. All about sports. Yeah. Yes.

Dylan, I think it actually worked out in your favor that it was such a great. If it was just a snoozer, you'd be like, I don't really care.

Yeah. But then I think I sent the message that, hey, one of the great games of all time. It's okay. I had one of the great meals dates of all time right here with you.
