If you're watching on Peacock. Thank you. That's our streaming partner. And we say good morning to our great radio affiliates around the country, numbering over 400 cities that carry this program. Play the day Stat of the Day poll question all of that forthcoming. And our operator Tyler is sitting by to take your phone calls. You got the Bengals beating the Cowboys 27:20. You're saying there's a chance. The Cowboys are 5 and 8. Cincinnati is 5 and 8. One team feels a whole lot better at 5 and 8 than the other team feels at 5 and 8. And with the Cowboys, you're looking at a team that was just never ready to, you know, compete. Even if Dak Prescott's there, they still had a lot of holes, and I think that was the big concern. You're all in, but you weren't all in and it showed. Troy Aikman last night said he thinks Mike McCarthy is going to be coming back. Micah Parsons says, hey, I hope we can all run this back. I hope Mike McCarthy is coming back. And with Jerry Jones, he is loyal. He's been loyal to a fault. So maybe he is going to bring Mike McCarthy back, which seems pretty bizarre after what has transpired here. And he left him out there as a lame duck coach. But Cincinnati wins this one. And if you look at their schedule, their remaining schedule, they got a shot here, they got a shot. And I don't know if it's a legitimate shot to make the playoffs, but you got to win out. And this is the AFC where you got a chance. You're at the Titans, then you have the Browns at home, the Broncos at home, and then you're at the Steelers. I don't know what the Steelers will be playing for, but there is that Cincinnati Pittsburgh rivalry. The Broncos are playoff team. You're going to host them. The Browns, enigmatic. And you got the Titans as well, but right now at 5 and 8 and you watched last night and maybe you watched the same way I did. It's like, why aren't they better? Burrow has been great this year. Jamar Chase is unbelievable. The defense has been terrible. That's the biggest difference here and now. They did hold Dallas to 20, but they needed help in the final two minutes there with the block punt, the fumble. And then you let Joe Burrow Little out pattern to Jamar Chase. Like, for the life of me, I'm thinking, do you have coverage over the top? Like, you have to have one guy on Jamar Chase and you have to have another guy right there for a helping hand and give credit to Jamar Chase. It's a simple pass round, just out, doop, dip, zip, dupe, touchdown, and then that's it. Ball game. 8773 DP show email address DP danpatrick.com Twitter handle @DP Show Here's Mike McCarthy after the loss last night. Would you say that this is maybe the toughest pill to swallow as far as a non playoff loss you experience as a head coach? Oh, definitely, because, I mean, where it.
Dan Patrick
Puts us in the season, you know, we understand that we dug ourselves a hole, you know, the seven losses coming in here. So we had, we had to have this one tonight, you know, and yes, definitely, this is a very, very disappointing loss.
Paul Pabst
We talked about this in September where I said, you're going to have a loss by a team that when we get to December, we're going to look back and go, oh, my God. The Bengals open the season losing at home to Jacoby Brissett and the Patriots. And we said at the time that's the kind of thing that can keep you from home field advantage, from winning your division to making the playoffs. And that might be the case for the Bengals. Teams that lose in September. It still costs, you know, it still counts as one loss, but it's costly. At the end of the year when you have these losses early and you go, oh, my God, they lost to them. Seaton, what's poll question today for the first hour?
Dan Patrick
Well, we got a couple here. One here from Paulie. Quarterback, least likely to win a Super Bowl.
Paul Pabst
Whoa, whoa. Least likely. Where did, where did that come from?
Dan Patrick
I. Okay, two years ago I would have said that Joe Burrow is going to win a Super bowl and I would have bet my career on it. Bet anything on it. The Bengals look good. He looked great. They almost beat the Rams a couple plays away. It feels like they're getting further from the Super Bowl. Joe Burrow and the Bengals. And then I threw in some other quarterbacks. Okay, we have Lamar Jackson.
Paul Pabst
Okay.
Dan Patrick
I don't know if that feels closer.
Paul Pabst
Well, they're closer than Joe Burrow and the Bengals are correct.
Dan Patrick
But are they closer than two years ago?
Paul Pabst
I just think they've had a rough patch. I think that team can win on the road. I think that if that game plan is carried out, then, yeah, I still think that they can go to a Super Bowl. I do.
Dan Patrick
Go to a Super Bowl.
Paul Pabst
Go to a Super Bowl. Can they win a Super Bowl? I'll say yes. Because John Harbaugh has won a Super bowl before, so I'll say yes. But they don't have a good defense either. Who else is on there?
Dan Patrick
Well, Brock Purdy, he felt really close last year.
Paul Pabst
Well, he was. You can't get any closer than being in the Super Bowl.
Dan Patrick
But I'm saying, does it feel much.
Paul Pabst
Thank you, Paul.
Dan Patrick
Well, I'm saying, does it feel much farther this year? And they always talk about windows with the 49ers.
Paul Pabst
Oh, I think the window closed this year. I don't know if it's closed for Brock Purdy, but yeah, I mean, he's like Joe Burrow. He had a chance. Had a chance. Maybe that's the last chance he has. Yes, Seaton.
Dan Patrick
Justin Herbert.
Paul Pabst
I, I don't know if he's farther, further away from a Super Bowl. I just don't know if he's closer. Maybe because of Jim Harbaugh. Yeah. All right, who else is on the list? Then we can go back and say, all right, who's the furthest away?
Dan Patrick
All right, last on the list then would be Jalen Hurts. So you have Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Brock Purdy, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hertz.
Paul Pabst
Joe Burrow is least likely to win a Super Bowl. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
That's crazy.
Paul Pabst
Well, I have to look at his team. Jalen Hertz is on a really good team. Lamar Jackson is on a team that can be dangerous. Justin Herbert is going to make the playoffs with Jim Harbaugh in his first year there. Brock Purdy, with the injuries, they seem to be non threatening right now, but I would say Joe Burrow, he's not even going to make the playoffs.
Dan Patrick
Yes, Jalen Hurts fairly or unfairly. I'm not saying this is the way that I feel, but Jalen Hertz is the only quarterback on that list who is still a question mark for being a starting quarterback.
Paul Pabst
Yes. And I've done the questioning. There are times when I go, I just don't know if he's a, a good quarterback or quarterback in a really good situation.
Dan Patrick
Maybe Brock Purdy, maybe.
Paul Pabst
Yes. But I think Brock Purdy, when he plays really, really well is better than Jalen Hurts. When Jalen Hertz plays really, really well.
Dan Patrick
Really well.
Paul Pabst
Jalen Hurts gives you the element of running. I mean, Brock Purdy does run, but Brock Purdy, when everybody's playing, that's when he plays really, really well, Jalen hurts. They can sometimes. Like I watched the game against Carolina. He just kind of does some things and I just don't. I don't know if he's a, you know, going to be a really good passer. I think now I go back to that super bowl and you could have given him the MVP and a loss. I wouldn't have had a problem with it. He was that good. I just, I don't know. There's something that I don't see the consistency, I don't see him being that, oh my gosh, Jalen hurts. Is he doing what he's supposed to do? I guess, you know, when they're not throwing the ball, I mean, that's a run first team. So I don't know what that. They got receivers, they got a. They got a couple of really good receivers. You got a really good tight end and it feels like they're a running game, running team. So that, that's a little bit surprising there. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Paulie, it feels like the Eagles could win a Super bowl with Hertz playing B level football. They almost did it already, you know, 22 touchdowns and 10 picks type guy. You know, I don't, I'm not comparing it to Troy Aikman, but the focus on the quarterback is similar to Detroit Aikman days where he doesn't have to do a ton because he's got so much talent.
Paul Pabst
But I think we always felt that Troy Aikman could step up in a big moment and then provide that play. I don't know about Jalen hurts. When it comes to passing playmaking, it's different. Like I look at Lamar as a better passer, I look at Lamar as a better quarterback, more dangerous. But it just feels like Jalen Hurd sometimes has to keep up with everybody else on the offense there. And I don't know if it's, you know, Nick Sirianni. I don't know if it's play calling, whatever it is. And then you got a receiver who's saying, I'm always open and you're not throwing me the ball. And then all of a sudden you're like, wait, you're winning, you're winning. It's hidden about touches, but Jalen hurts can win a Super Bowl. I mean, that's a really good team, really good team. And maybe the most balanced team that I've seen this year. And that's because Detroit lost some, some players due to injury. By the way, I have the matchups here. According to DraftKings, these are the super bowl exact results. Lions over the Chiefs. Chiefs over the Lions. Lions over the Bills. Bills over the Lions. Lions to beat the Ravens. So the Lions are prohibitive favorites to go to the super bowl with this with DraftKings. So the Lions to beat the Chiefs is slightly more of a favorite than the Chiefs to beat the Lions. And then it's Lions beating the Bills, Bills beating the Lions. Those are tied at plus 1500. And then you have the Lions over the Ravens at plus 1600. The Lions to beat the Chiefs plus 1200. Chiefs to beat the Lions plus 1400. That's interesting with what Vegas, how Vegas sees this, that the Lions feel like they are the team in the nfc. And you got that game against Buffalo coming up and which might say a lot about both of these teams because Buffalo, what happened in Los Angeles, and now you're going to go against the Lions here. Also, I have the odds to be the number one overall pick in the NFL draft. I'll have that for you coming up. Also, I filled out my Heisman ballot yesterday, late afternoon. Paulie always helps me. He takes care of the actual sending it in because there are times when I go, I don't know if I'm filling this out correctly.
Dan Patrick
It's confusing.
Paul Pabst
Yes. And. But I did wait, I did want to wait until all the games are played to be fair to all the candidates. And I'm not allowed to reveal who I voted for. They ask us, they remind us not to reveal. And I will say I probably had one surprise on my ballot. It's 1, 2 and 3 is how you vote. But after the Heisman ceremony, then I can tell you who I voted for and why. All right. 8773 DP show email address dp danpatrick.com Twitter handle it DP Show by the way, the over under for first round road wins coming up this weekend. We have to pick the one game. There's going to be one road team, at least one road team to win this weekend. I feel that way. This is for the college football playoffs. One, the over under is one and a half road wins this weekend. Could you see two teams win on the road? Also, I heard from somebody, a college football source who is, well, extremely plugged in, who said, you know, when I said, hey, whatever happens first round, can you reseed those teams? So let's say Clemson wins, Oregon wins. Oregon would then play Clemson because they're 12th in Oregon's one, if that, you know, that's how it played out. Clemson won. So the challenge of receding according to my source, after the first set of games is the logistics of fan base with flights and hotels scrambling in a short period of time. Keeping in mind that that's a lot of people to accommodate. And these are bowl games, which week long events with their respective locations. So for a lot of reasons, receding is too complicated. That's why they won't be able to do that. Because, and he's right that we want to see that reseed them. Now, I think there's another way around this. I think there's a better way to be ranking these teams that if you win, you're in the playoffs, but that doesn't mean you get a first round buy when you're in. That's when Vegas will have the odds, because Vegas doesn't have any emotion attached to this. They're going to tell you that the team that has the best chance to win the national title all the way down to the team with the worst odds. That's the way I think it should be done. And I think next year or the year after that when they expand to 14, that's probably what they're going to do. So if you're looking for reseeding, it's once the result happens this weekend, then you're going to tell somebody, hey, you want to get on a flight, you got to get hotel accommodations and you're going to go in and then all of a sudden you're going to have a bowl game atmosphere as opposed to playing a home game. Yes, Pauline, you know, based off that.
Dan Patrick
There are some college towns that can host a lot of people and there's some that I don't know how they do it, like Texas, Austin, full service town, big town city, Ohio State, Columbus. I've been there with you. It's bigger than I expected. But Happy Valley in South Bend. How does South Bend get an influx of people come there? Do they stay in Chicago? Do they. I can't imagine how many people they could host in that city.
Paul Pabst
Well, you're only hosting one game and. But you're giving them ample time to find accommodations there. That's really the key. And then a lot of people do stay in Chicago and then, you know, whatever, an hour and a half to South Bend. But you got Indiana fans in South Bend. That'll be, you know, interesting trek for them as well. Like could Boise, you know, handle a couple of different, you know, fan bases there? So I think that that's interesting too. But reseeding is not going to happen just because of the logistics. All right, we'll take a break. I got the odds on who will be the number one pick in the draft. We'll take a break. Just getting started. Back after this.

Congratulations to 3am Innovations on their first place win for Innovation in Community at this year's Unconventional Awards by T mobile for business. 3am used T Mobile 5G to enable Florian, the first AI enabled incident command platform for first responders. Florian's features include real time tracking of personnel on a 3D map and voice activation. AI is used to filter out background noise until it hears a trigger word such as Mayday, increasing situational awareness on the ground and improving on site safety. This will shape rapid response moving forward and for that, T Mobile congratulates 3am for their unconventional thinking. I received this from DraftKings this morning. I said what are the odds? What are the odds on who's going to be the number one overall pick in the draft? Paulie, give us the top four teams right now because I have the four best odds to be the number one pick in the draft.
Dan Patrick
Top four picks in the draft as of today, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers.
Paul Pabst
Okay, Todd, the odds to be the number one overall pick in the 2025 draft. Who has the best odds?
Dan Patrick
I'm going to say the Raiders will have the first pick and take Shador Sanders.
Paul Pabst
Okay, you would be correct with Shador Sanders. The odds unfavored and right now, pretty good odds to be the number one pick. The second pick in the draft. Marvin.
Dan Patrick
The player.
Paul Pabst
Yes.
Dan Patrick
Cam Ward?
Paul Pabst
No. Seaton. Travis Hunter? Yes. Then Cam Ward.
Dan Patrick
I say confidently Travis Hunter. Tell me.
Paul Pabst
Travis Hunter? Yes.
Dan Patrick
Paul the New York Giant. Let's say it stays. The New York Giants had the second pick of the draft. You would assume they're taking a quarterback. I know based off the odds there. It says no because of Hunter. But interesting.
Paul Pabst
Unless they bring in Sam Darnold to be the quarterback for the Giants.
Dan Patrick
Drama.
Paul Pabst
Now we got Travis Hunter, Malik Neighbors with the Giants. So it's Cam Ward and then it's Jalen Milroe down the list.
Dan Patrick
Really?
Paul Pabst
This according to DraftKings, these are the odds to be the number one overall pick.
Dan Patrick
Wow.
Paul Pabst
Jalen Miller will not be the number one overall pick.
Dan Patrick
He will not be picked in the first round.
Paul Pabst
Ooh.
Dan Patrick
I'll. I'll pie the face. Jalen Milro. Not a First round. I'm just double checking. We're talking Jalen Milroe of Alabama.
Paul Pabst
Yes, we are.
Dan Patrick
He will not be a first round draft.
Paul Pabst
Anybody want a piece of that Seaton O counter?
Dan Patrick
I'll take that.
Paul Pabst
All right. Pie to the face. Jalen Mill. See, I love when we have something to look forward to with the draft.
Dan Patrick
Now we're going to watch it at.
Paul Pabst
The end of the first round. Jalen Milro. That's the.
Dan Patrick
I haven't. I don't think I've gotten in on a draft day bet since Manti Teo was drafted. I think Andrew and I had a big bet on that one.
Paul Pabst
What was the bet with you and.
Dan Patrick
McLovin Mantiteo going in the first round?
Paul Pabst
Maybe.
Dan Patrick
I think it was the first 15 and a half.
Paul Pabst
Maybe.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Oh, yeah, maybe first 15? Yeah, something like that.
Paul Pabst
Once again, I filled out my Heisman ballot yesterday and we saw the results. As far as the candidates going to New York. The last five times there were no SEC Heisman finalists. 2022, it happened. Caleb, Max Duggan and C.J. stroud. It happened before that. 2017, 2016, oh 5 and 04. Paul.
Dan Patrick
There was a Baker Mayfield. Oh, Bryce Love year where I don't think a guy from the SEC May.
Paul Pabst
The other player was Lamar Jackson. 2017, that's a bloop. Bloop for Paul. 2016, it happened. It also included Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield. Desean Watson. Go back to O5. That's when you had USC with Reggie. Matt Leinert, Vince Young. Oh, four. Matt Leinert, Adrian Peterson, Jason White, the quarterback from Oklahoma State, Rando. Yes, that's the stat. Whoa, whoa. Stat of the day. Stat of the day.
Dan Patrick
Here comes that.
Paul Pabst
What? Stat of the day. Also the last time you had teammates in the final three. So you have. Well, Shador Sanders. I don't know. Is he being invited?
Dan Patrick
He is not.
Paul Pabst
Okay, so you don't have teammates who are in the top five. The last. It's happened a few times. You had 20 20, Devontae Smith, Mac Jones. 05 and 04 with Leiner Bush, Adrian Peterson, Jason White. Go back to 72. Johnny Rogers, Rich Glover at Nebraska and then back to 1945, Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis, the running back. So that's according to DraftKings. What's the poll question? We're going to go with Seaton.
Dan Patrick
Well, we're putting up there the quarterback least likely to win a Super Bowl. We also have another one here from Paulie the receiver you'd want to start your team with now, as in right now, this moment. Justin Jefferson, Tariq Hill, Jamar Chase, Brock Bowers. Ah, now we see why Paul wanted to get this agenda. Agenda. Now we see the agenda coming.
Paul Pabst
Well, you got to put CD Lamb in there, too.
Dan Patrick
I guess you might have to put Malik Neighbors in there because of his age. Yeah, it's close.
Paul Pabst
Brock Bowers is quietly having an unbelievable season. And when he was at Georgia, I think it might have been his sophomore year, maybe junior, and you had analysts saying, oh, if he came out now, you know, he'd be number one pick or top five pick, whatever it was. So he goes to the Raiders, bad quarterback play, bad team, and he's going to end up with a hundred catches for a thousand yards, quietly. And he's been great. And he's gone after Puka Nakua's record for most catches by a rookie. And I think Nakua had 107, maybe with the Rams. 105. But Brock Bowers has a chance to surpass that. I mean, that's a great situation. Let's say Shador Sanders goes to the Raiders, which I've been saying all season long. That's where I see him. You get Brock Bowers there, you got Max Crosby there, and then you got to figure out, are you able to bring, you know, players in who want to play in Vegas? Are you going to spend money? You know, and then I wonder if Antonio Pierce is going to survive. The report yesterday is they're going to keep him the rest of the year. I just think Tom Brady is going to play a heavy hand in this. And I just can't see Tom Brady, maybe in his first year as a minority owner, going, okay, that's our quarterback now, our coach. I know. And Shador has a great relationship with Tom Brady. I think he has mentored him for the last couple of years. But I don't know if Antonio Pierce will survive in Vegas if they end up with a number one pick. I don't know who. Once again, I don't know anything about the organization, but only with what I've read, and I wonder if he would be able to hold on to that. The other surprising situation is Bill Belichick. And at first when I heard that he interviewed at North Carolina, I thought he was doing a favor for North Carolina. Like, here, let me come in. And Mack Brown just got fired. So I'll come in and I'll assess your team. I'll talk to you about the job. So people are going to go, wow, North Carolina, Belichick, North Carolina. And I don't know if it maybe started where you bring him in and say, hey, give us your thoughts on this program. And maybe came in and goes, hey, you know what? You're in the acc. You can win the acc. You're going to need nil money. You know, how are you in the transfer portal? You got the Jordan brand there. There's a lot of great things. You got beautiful uniforms and you've always been a sleeping giant. Okay. And then all of a sudden it's like, you have a second interview. And then that's when I, it got my attention. It's like, okay, a second interview. Here is Bill Belichick on the Pat McAfee show talking about his talks with Carolina.
Dan Patrick
You know, I've had a chance this year to take a longer look at college football during the college season as opposed to in the spring from the draft perspective.
Paul Pabst
And that's been interesting as well as.
Dan Patrick
Staying up with pro football. So it's been, it's been a good year for me.
Paul Pabst
I've learned a lot.
Dan Patrick
And so, you know, I've had an opportunity to chant, talk to Chancellor Roberts. And, you know, we've had a couple.
Paul Pabst
Of good conversations, so we'll see how it goes. Well, the one thing I keep coming back to is how important is Don Shula's coaching record. The most wins. I think he's 15 away from surpassing Don Shuler on the all time victory list. Belichick, obviously a student of the game, the history of the game, to be the all time winner in NFL history. He was on with Jim Gray, the Get up or let's Go podcast. I believe you have get up on here, Marvin.
Dan Patrick
Sorry, I was enthralled and get up.
Paul Pabst
Forgive me. You got to stop with your Mike Greenberg infatuation. It's let's Go podcast. Here's Jim Gray with the question. I think it's widely assumed that you'd like to win another super bowl. And I think it's widely assumed that you'd like to break Don Shula's record. Is that. And are those two things in your, in the forefront of your mind? Yeah, Jim, I don't have any set goals.
Dan Patrick
I'm open to different opportunities going forward and I'll survive as they come. Okay, that was a press conference. Bill Belichick, we haven't heard him in a while.
Paul Pabst
I know, I know. We haven't heard from him in a while, but they're paying him just like all the other shows are paying him. McAfee's paying more. So you get more, I think, out of that. It's like, all right, how much are you paying me? A couple hundred thousand for the let's go podcast, McAfee's paying me a million dollars. I'll give him a little bit more of an answer. This told me one thing. Maybe the NFL doesn't want Bill Belichick. Maybe he realizes there's not as many opportunities there. Do you want to, if you're a GM or you're a team president or an owner, to turn things over to Bill Belichick? How long is he in, you know, for the ride here? And it feels like. And there's been reports that Bill could take a college job and bring his son, who is a defensive coordinator, I think, for the Washington commanders. And if I'm North Carolina, okay, you do your due diligence. You have to bring in candidates and you have to go through the process. But if I can get Bill Belichick for three years and hopefully his son is capable of being a head coach, I know you're going to have to deal with nepotism here, but if I'm Carolina, I'll deal with that. Let's bring him in. Let's bring in Bill. But I don't know. I don't know if the NFL wants Bill Belichick. And I thought, he's not going to coach again. Well, I didn't think he'd coach in college unless it was going to be a defensive coordinator for Navy or he was going to coach lacrosse or something like that. I didn't think he'd coach in the NFL again. But here he is, two interviews with Carolina, and all of a sudden, this becomes a real story. And at first I thought, man, he got to be bored. Like, he's got a lot of jobs and he's making good money here. But there's. You're a coach, coaches, and Belichick, you feel like he's going to coach until he dies, just like Joe Paterno gonna coach until he dies. And there are a few of those that that's what they do. That's who they are. That's their identity. They don't want to do anything else. And I think Belichick is probably truly listening to Carolina. If I'm Carolina, I, like, get all these interviews done here, and then we can give him the job. Ain't Michael Jordan comes to the press conference. You got the. You know, the Jumpman Jordan brand there. And now all of a sudden, you get started. You get started now right away. But I think this Might be a signal the NFL was going. I don't know. You're going to bring him in to run the Bears. You're bringing your GM back. Does Bill just want to be a coach? You're bringing in him to run the Cowboys. He still got Jerry Jones there. Jacksonville, do you want to take over Jacksonville? Do you think Jacksonville is kind of like what Tampa was to Tom Brady? Those guys are ready. All they need is the right guy. Well, you got to decide if Trevor Lawrence is the right guy, and then you go in, you'll be able to run that organization. I don't know if the NFL wants Bill. And I know you got to factor in age because I have to factor in longevity. Like, how long is he going to be there? Can we turn this around? Can we do something in three years? And that would be the window that I would probably have with Bill. And then if he's going to go to college, does he turn it over to his son? His son become, you know, you know, does he lay the groundwork to say, I'm going to do this. I want my son here as my defensive coordinator. He will take over for me. After three years, I could see that scenario. All right, a couple of phone calls in here. Doug in North Carolina leads us off. Hi, Doug. What's on your mind today? Well, Dan, I have a bit of.
Dan Patrick
A hot take that I thought of this weekend, and I'm glad that SMU got in.
Paul Pabst
But to me, college football now more.
Dan Patrick
Resembles the WWE than it does the NFL.
Paul Pabst
I used to be a huge college.
Dan Patrick
Football fan, but they lost me about seven or eight years ago. And they could straighten this out tomorrow.
Paul Pabst
They could come up with a system of tiebreakers that results mattered.
Dan Patrick
But as long as they're doing this in a back room talking about what games are going to get the better.
Paul Pabst
Ratings, and we got to admit that.
Dan Patrick
They'Re not in the athletic competition business. They're in the sports entertainment business. It's more like the WWE to me.
Paul Pabst
Well, I've. I've said that it is a TV show, but they proved me wrong by taking SMU over Alabama. And SMU is a good team. SMU made the playoffs by coming back and scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter. If they score seven, I don't think they're in the playoffs. They made it competitive with Clemson. They end up losing a close one. But does it come down to favorites? Does it come down to brands? Does it come down to who the head coach is? And you probably throw it all in the blender and that's what you're going to get. You still get these blue bloods. But the thing that I like about this is we got Arizona State in there and we got Boise State in there. Now I hold my breath and I just say, make it competitive, Be competitive so somebody doesn't say the following. And they never should have been in there. And we've done that. We've done that before. Cincinnati a couple of years ago. Well, you go, they never should have been in there. Well, maybe they should be, or I'm glad they got in. But there's a big difference. I mean, Notre Dame went against Alabama, what, 10 years ago, and they should never have been on the same football field. That's Notre Dame. Alabama was like, so much better, bigger, faster. And then. So it does happen. The disparity, though, is really closing. There's, you know, you used to stockpile running backs at the U. Now those running backs are saying, I ain't sitting. I'm going. You can't over sign over recruit anymore because everybody wants to go and wants to play. They want to get paid. Therefore, you have parity here. And I think it's good for football. I don't think you have a great team. I don't think. I mean, Oregon's done everything you want them to do. I don't know if people recognize them as a great team. And Penn State played him close. Boise State played him close. So there's parity there. And if you add two more schools and maybe we do something when it comes to the rankings to be fair to teams, I like the possibility of it. I do. I just want these teams to be able to compete. So it's not like. And, you know, judging from these lines, the games this weekend, I think the closest game margin wise, seven and a half, that might be Indiana at Notre Dame and Tennessee at Ohio State. Somebody's winning on the road this weekend, somebody is. Next weekend, somebody is. And I think that's the fun part of this. That's when you get a little bit more chaos here. And these are matchups that you don't normally have or have in these cities with these two teams. You know, Tennessee visiting Ohio State, Indiana against South Bend, you know, in South Bend against Notre Dame. Like, that's fun. I like it. Yes. Marvin, is there a rivalry of any.
Dan Patrick
Sort in any sport for Indiana and Notre? Dame?
Paul Pabst
Meaning, like, as far as.
Dan Patrick
Oh, Indiana. Notre Dame was a big matchup when Digger Phelps went up against Bob Knight or anything like that.
Paul Pabst
Oh, yeah, but not football.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Basketball. Yes. Because you had two of the greatest coaches of all time, Notre Dame against Indiana with Digger and Bob Knight. Yeah, Paul.
Dan Patrick
You could easily make the case, though, that Indiana football knocking off Notre Dame football with a chance to win the national title would be clearly the biggest win in the program history, you know, in our lifetime, for sure.
Paul Pabst
Oh, yeah, yeah. There's not a top five greatest wins in Indiana history. There may be three, but yeah, to beat. Noted. And Notre Dame is, you know, they're a really good team. They're a really good team. Solid both sides. You know, they take the ball away. Leonard has done a good job. So, yeah, that would be a, that would be a surprise if Indiana went there. All right, let me take a break. We'll get to more phone calls coming up. Our play of the day is next.

AI is used to filter out background noise until it hears a trigger word such as mayday. Increasing situational awareness on the ground and improving on site safety. This will shape rapid response moving forward. And for that, T Mobile congratulates 3am for their unconventional thinking.

A 40 yards strike that's courtesy of the Bengals radio network. Joe Burrow finished with 369 and three touchdowns. Okay, yeah.
Dan Patrick
Here we go. This Might be obvious. Blank has been named Times Athlete of the Year. Blank has been named Times Athlete of the Year. They're doing, like, Impact People of the Year in different business.
Paul Pabst
So Shohei Ohtani, Time Magazine Impact Person of the Year.
Dan Patrick
Is that your guess?
Paul Pabst
Yes. Marvin.
Dan Patrick
Caitlin Clark.
Paul Pabst
Okay. Seaton.
Dan Patrick
Lionel Messi.
Paul Pabst
Oh.
Dan Patrick
He brought soccer to the United States. He brought the game here.
Paul Pabst
Todd, do you have a guess?
Dan Patrick
I was going to say Caitlin, too. But to be different, I'm going to go Travis Hunter.
Paul Pabst
Travis. What he does on both sides of the ball, almost every.
Dan Patrick
Caitlin Clark is Times Athlete of the Year. Cover the magazine.
Paul Pabst
Okay. All right. You're going to get more response with that than you would with Shohei Ohtani. I get it. I mean, it's like Sports Illustrated giving Dion Sportsman of the Year last year.
Dan Patrick
I would say that Caitlin's impact is more than impact, is more than both Ohtani and Sanders.
Paul Pabst
Yeah, yeah. I'm just saying why they gave it. I mean, they wanted publicity for Sports Illustrated. They gave it to Dion. Caitlin Clark, deserving. But you're going to get more opinions on her than you would Shohei Ohtani. And that's what you want. You want people talking about this and. All right. Is she going to win Sports Illustrated Sports Person of the Year? Could see that happening as well. Yes. Marvin should have won it last year. Okay. Okay.
Dan Patrick
That's all I had.
Paul Pabst
All right. Thank you. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I mean, it's tough to argue that someone's had a bigger impact on sports than she has this year.
Paul Pabst
And I said this. I know there are a lot of people are like, you're crazy to say it, but her impact on the WNBA is similar to Gretzky's on the NHL when Gretz came to the Kings and Caitlin Clark goes into the wnba. Now, you have cities that maybe never gave thought to have a WNBA franchise. So you have cities with instant franchises, expansion, and that's because of her. You're getting cities that want. Just like they did with Gretzky. We never thought they would have hockey in Florida. Carolina, like you're going, but it's because. Wayne. Yes, Mark.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Toronto's got a WNBA team. They just announced. And one in Portland. In Portland and in California. Also, like San Francisco area.
Paul Pabst
Couple of phone calls in here. David in Ohio. Hi, David. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan.
Dan Patrick
I don't know if you watched the censors last night, but I think after the.
Paul Pabst
After the Dallas Cowboys loss, I think I heard Jerry Jones say thank you. Thank you, David. Did I miss the punchline was it?
Dan Patrick
Oh, yeah. It must have cut out as he was going Dough.
Paul Pabst
Oh, is that what it was?
Dan Patrick
That's unfortunate.
Paul Pabst
Yeah. Yeah. Missed the punchline there. Andrew in Washington. Good morning, Andrew. Good morning, Dan Danette, thanks for taking my call. Hey, I just did have a few questions about the draft, which you guys.
Dan Patrick
Were talking about earlier. By the way, Paulie, I looked at three mock drafts.
Paul Pabst
There's only two quarterbacks going in the first round right now, Shador Sanders and Cam Warden. That's my question, too. Is that do you think that the Carolina Panthers, with Bryce Young at the helm right now, will look to draft another quarterback? Or has he bought himself another year to go? He's had sort of like three mini seasons in one season. Starting out with his first two starts, which were just horrible. He got sat down. Then he had the three other starts before the buy where he was kind of good. And then he's only thrown one int and three TDs in his last three starts. So he's kind of improved. I just kind of wanted to see what you thought about that. I would hold on to him. I would want to see another year. I don't think it's fair to any of these quarterbacks unless, you know, there's a Josh Rosen situation where you go, hey, we're going to take him 10th, and then all of a sudden you see him play and you go, ah, we got the number one pick. We're going to take Kyler Murray. I don't know if you're going to have a situation like that where you go, we're going to move on from Bryce Young. From what I've seen the last couple of weeks, it just seems like he's letting the game come to him a little bit more. It seems like he has a little more pocket presence. He has escapability. He's really slight, but he's made them like they're competitive. As long as Adam Thielen is healthy, it feels like Bryce Young is going to be okay. Hey, all else fails, where's Adam Thielen? But look, they've gone toe to toe with the Chiefs and the Eagles. Bryce Young has played a role in that, and I hope that they bring him back. I hope Anthony Richardson gets another chance with the Colts. Hour two on the way. More of your phone calls. By the way, Rob Gronkowski will join us coming up in an hour from now. 8773 DP show email address dp danpatrick.com Twitter handle it DP Show One hour in the books two more to go.
