Steelers handled the Dolphins 28:15. It was more impressive than the final score. There was some garbage time touchdowns there with the Dolphins. Pittsburgh is now 8 and 6. Miami is now 6 and 8. But you start to look at the Steelers now the rest of the season at 8 and 6, they're a game up on the Ravens, the Steelers at the Lions, at the Browns, and they host the Ravens. Ravens will host the Patriots, they're at the packers and then they host the Steelers. So Steelers can win out. And if they do win out, then they're going to be in. As for the Ravens, if they win out, they're going to probably be in or at least Steelers would have the tiebreaker. Right now, I believe in the division. But at 8 and 6, is everything okay? They didn't have T.J. watt last night. Aaron Rodgers looked pretty good, but man, I watched that Dolphins offense. I thought they were going to run the football. I just thought, here we go. You don't have T.J. watt. We're running the football and we'll sprinkle in some passes. And then all of a sudden Mike McDaniel is asked this question about his quarterback after the game. I think it would be very rash and shortsighted if I even tried to tackle that option. You know, I think I have to look at the tape and I'll move on from there. But realistically, I'm just supremely disappointed that you know, we couldn't come out with a win here. Yeah, they ran a two minute drill and even Troy Aikman said, why did it take so long? They should have come out as a two minute drill if they weren't going to run the football. Just do a two minute drill the entire game and just see how this is going to play out there. But I think that was, what was surprising is Troy's like, why did it take you so long? Here's Troy Aikman on the call. This is just the bizarre last few series. And they don't go, hurry up. Now they're going, hurry up. Calling timeouts. It's just, it's hard to understand exactly what the philosophy. Second down. So the delay of game on top of it. By the way, Troy has no more filter, which is great. He just, he's kind of like that old guy. You get to a certain age, and I know that age where you're allowed to say things and people go, now he's just old. I mean, Troy's not old, but in, you know, broadcaster years, we're like, he's been around a long time. You know, you just say what you feel. Peyton does that, but he's not broadcasting the games. Tom Brady, I hope, gets to that point where you just, you're honest with what you see and you say it. And Troy has been doing that the last couple of years. But the Steelers improved to 8 and 6. I don't know how good you feel. If you're a Steeler fan, just say, all right, win the division, host a playoff game, maybe get bounced in the first round or maybe you win the game. But, you know, the script sounds familiar. You haven't won a game in a long, long time. You're the Steelers. You are used to being a championship caliber team. And what you saw last night, is that sustainable. I don't know when T.J. watt is going to come back, but Aaron Rodgers played well, you know, and once again, the Dolphins with a couple of garbage touchdowns made it seem like it was a little bit closer than that, but it wasn't. But you know, Miami's got some issues here, obviously, because they sort of had a fire sale, but then they started to win games and now you have the. Do you keep your coach? Did you see enough with your coach? The fact that these last three games, are they going to play hard? And then you got the two. A question, because you're going to owe him close to what, $45 million next year and then you're going to probably Move on from him. And it's weird when you watch, you know, you can be a really bright quarterback. You can put the ball in the right place, you don't have to have a great arm. But there are times when you do have to have an arm that you can put something in and you can do it from 20 yards out. And that, that's my concern with Tua. I just, he can give you the precision kind of passing and you know, 10 yards this way, 5 yards this way. He doesn't threaten me if I'm a defensive back. Like, I'm not worried about him unless somebody actually runs an incredible route and is wide open. But you don't see that very often. And it feels like everything is right in front of the defense, the defensive backs, and it's just non threatening. I really thought a chant was going to have a dominating game. I thought he was going to run for 150 yards. I thought that was going to be the philosophy. And then you watch. First of all, that was a very boring game to start. Like you're going, come on guys, pick it up. Come on, let's go. And then it got a little interesting. And then the Steelers scored four consecutive drives. And then all of a sudden the Dolphins go, hey, why don't we try a two minute drill? Hey, there's a little success here. But you start to look at a bigger picture with the Dolphins. You got to get a new GM. You see a new GM brings in a coach. Has Mike McDaniel done enough where you go, he still feels like an offensive coordinator. He just does. And you know, I've said this many times, not everybody is a head coach. Not everybody should be a head coach. Because it takes different talents to be a head coach. Offensive coordinator, you got one job. You deal with that when you're the CEO of the team. Every press conference you're asked questions. Offense, defense, special teams, dealing with management, all of that. Dealing with the draft, free agency, all of that. But when you're a coordinator, you get locked in and you're really good at what you do. We'd love to go. Hi deserves to get a head coaching job. There's a lot of guys who shouldn't be or shouldn't have been head coaches, but there's that, well, you got to give him a chance sometimes if you're an owner, you know, that guy doesn't have the capabilities of being a head coach, but he's really, really good. Like Leo Mazzoni was a great pitching coach for the Braves. But I didn't look at him as a manager. I looked at him as he is specialized in that. Charlie Weiss. I didn't look at him as a head coach. I looked at him as an off, you know, as a really good coordinator. Romeo Crinnell with the Patriots, really good coordinator, but not a head coach. And I look at Mike McDaniel and look, have we had him on and we enjoy his, you know, the conversation. Absolutely. He's quirky, it's fun, different. But I look at him as a coordinator now. I'm sure he'll get a job someplace. I don't know if they'll keep him in Miami. But you, you know, you got the Tyree Kill situation. What are you going to do with waddle like you, it feels like you have a couple of pieces there. It's just, it starts with the quarterback and I just don't think that he is a starting quarterback until further notice. Yeah, Paulie, the Tyreek Hill situation, it might be the biggest of the situations. A lot of people thought they would trade him before the trade deadline. Then he got injured. I mean, there's a lot of speculation. His dead cap hit, if they released him is $29 million. If they keep him, you know what they have to pay him next year? 50 million bucks to play wide receiver. 50 million. All. Most of his money is on the back end of that last year of his contract. 50 million. Yeah. I don't think he's there next year. That might be addition by subtraction. I just don't want to get into an Antonio Brown situation where, you know, he, he's going to be selfish and he's going to want touches and you know, he can be incredible. But you know, coming off an injury and that kind of price tag, I don't want that. But, you know, you're going to take that hit and then the following year, you know, you'll probably get rid of Tua. It's just, it's been 20, I think 25 years since the Dolphins have won a playoff game. Can you check on that? I think that's, I mean, we, we talk about, you know, hey, the Steelers haven't had a, won a playoff game in what, 10 years? Nine years? I don't think the Dolphins have won a playoff game in 25 years. Yeah. Paulie December 30, 2000 against the Colts in overtime of the wild card round. Yeah. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. The special trading cards of the Dan Patrick show this first hour brought to you by the great Folks at Mako, Dense Dings, faded paint. They got you covered. Get a free estimate today. Oh, better get Mako. All right. Seaton poll question. First hour of the program is going to be what? Well, we got one here for the Dolphins. Can we ask what went wrong with the Dolphins? The head coach or the quarterback? I don't know if that's fair, but. Well, all I can do is go on what I said in. In real time. I never would have given him that contract. I would have franchised him. I would have made him show me one more time. Now he's. He's been healthier. Now the focus is on his play. And I remember when Tyree Kill, he came out, he said, my quarterback's the most accurate quarterback in the NFL. And, you know, great. He did say some nice things about Tua. But I just. I would say the quarterback, he's just not. He's not an elite quarterback. Doesn't mean he still can't play. I just. I don't think he threatens you. Like, there's certain quarterbacks where you go, oh, right. Mahomes is like that. Josh Allen's like that. Lamar's like that. Joe Burrow when he's healthy is like that. Justin Herbert's becoming that. Even Bo Nicks is becoming that. There, there. There's a whole list of quarterbacks where you go, oh, Tua is like, oh, yes, Marvin. So what you're saying is Tua is a starting quarterback. He's not a franchise quarterback. Yeah, yeah, he's the starting quarterback now, but it might be he gets to that place where next year, after next year, then he's kind of hanging out there. And it's not like he's a bad quarterback. I just. I want my quarterback. You have to account for him. You got to worry about him. You got a game plan for him. And I don't think that he does that to you. I think you game plan more for HN than you do for Tua. Yeah. Paulie, I'm not trying to jab him, but back in the day when Alex Smith was on the Chiefs, he was a good quarterback, led them to some good seasons and was a very solid player, probably above average and consistent. But they said, this is as far as we can go with this guy. And they went with Mahomes. Yeah. And look, we've had him on. Usually every super bowl, we've had him on. He was a guest when he was in college, and we liked him. But my job is not to like somebody as much as to observe, cover have an opinion on somebody. All right. 8, 7, 7, 3, DP Show. Email address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter handle @DP Show. You know, speaking of threatening, are the Steelers threatening Because we're going to get to the playoffs and if they're hosting a playoff game, they won the division, you're going to be in the wild card round. Are they threatening? I would say they're not. But if I was going to go 1 to 10, 1 to 10, let's say 10. Is Super Bowl. Super bowl threatening. I would say they're probably a five of five. Soft five. Yeah. Which is not threatening. No, but that is not a threat. No, no. But dangerous. You don't sound confident. I don't? No, I don't. And. And, you know, maybe it's one of those where you get a run and all of a sudden Aaron Rogers is magical like he was last night. He played really well. They played well. And the Dolphins aren't very good. Even though the Dolphins came in there playing pretty well when Tua came in and all of a sudden you saw him outside. So I'm watching the pre game and I think he took off. He had some kind of wool hat and he took it off just to go, let me feel this. Quickly put it back on. And I was like, if I'm a gambler, I'm going all in on the Steelers with this. And what was the line last night? It was like three. I thought, man, they must think this Dolphin team is going to play well in cold weather. Yeah, Paulie. I think they only hit Aaron Rodgers. They had no pass rush on Aaron. Roger last night. He picked him apart. It's hard to picture Aaron Rodgers having a great game against the Broncos or a team like that where the pass rush is, is all day. So that means they're as threatening as they could protect them. Rogers was 23 at 27, two touchdowns. The oldest player in NFL history to complete at least 85% of his pass attempts. Philip Rivers may have something to say about this this weekend. Yes, Todd. The opening line was three and a half. It was a three point favorite for the Steelers. Yeah, that's where I kept thinking, okay, what am I missing here? Usually they're, they're correct when they have these betting lines where you go, damn, all right, Bills are favored by 1 1/2 in New England. Then you had the packers favored over the Broncos. We know how that went. So sometimes it doesn't work, but a lot of times you'll go, man, what do they know? That I don't know. And that's why I thought that was a credibility. Hey, you're only a three point underdog. Miami on the road in December in Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh without TJ Watt. We'll get to your phone calls coming up. 8, 7, 7, 3 DP show. Vince in Austin leads us off. Good morning, Vince. What's on your mind? Hey, guys, good morning. If I don't see you next week or hear from you next week, you guys have a very merry Christmas and an awesome new Year. Anyway, what I want to talk about is much has been made about Billy Rich, Phillip Rivers and his many offspring. Ken. Hey, Nick Cannon says, hold my beer. What I really want to suggest then somebody in our office is from the Pittsburgh area and a die hard Steeler fan. At the end of the year, we were rallying on him, said, how could you let this guy go? Said, wait and see. Wait and see. Oh, we're waiting and seeing. We saw. And for George Pickens, hey, Terrell Owens says, oh, my beer. All right. Hey, there's a reason why he was let go and he's done pretty well in Dallas now. Do you want to give him $30 million a year? I wouldn't, but they may, Jerry may feel like, hey, I can't pass this up. And you know what, the Cowboys are in a pretty good situation right now. When you think about moves they made and if you feel like, you know, your offense is going to be comfortable now, you load up and you improve that defense, the secondary, and maybe you got something next year, something to build on. And it's not often when I say that about the Cowboys, but they, they have something to build on here. And, you know, as long as Dax stays healthy, the wide receivers play nice. You got a tight end, you know, got a running game. So there's real potential there for Dallas with the moves that they made this year. We're going to talk about ACLs because it felt like there was a wave of ACL injuries over the weekend. And when you had Mahomes and you had Michael Parsons, now all of a sudden they're like, people are like, wait, is this a trend? I'm going to give you some numbers about ACLS in the last five to seven years that I think will really surprise you about that injury. We'll take a break. We're just getting started on this Tuesday. Once again, Jim Harbaugh at the top of the hour. We'll also talk to Joe Thomas, the Browns hall of Fame tackle, and Mike Golick senior as well. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show. It's the question that won't go away. We keep asking it. Kaylin DeBoer, the Alabama head coach, was asked if he is staying at Alabama just for clarity's sake so things aren't left up to interpretation. Are you going to be the coach of Alabama next year? Man? Come on, Nick. I put a statement out yesterday because I just, first of all, our guys handle distractions phenomenally. It's been that way all season long. They continue to do that and so, you know, feel completely supported. My family loves living here. Just all the things that we continue to build on. Love the progress. Haven't talked with anyone, no plans of talking with anyone. So just for clarification and going back to Nick's question, will you be the coach at Alabama next? Yes. Nick. Yes, Charlie. Yes. Okay. I think he was pretty clear there, but that's yesterday. He might be asked again today. And then what about Friday they play Oklahoma and then that's a, I think a one and a half point spread there with the rematch, if Alabama doesn't play well, he's going to get those questions again. But you still see these odds of who's going to take, you know, the favorite for Michigan. I was told last week it was Jed Fish at Washington. They won their bowl game. Their season is over. He's got Michigan ties. But, you know, the longer this goes on, it feels like maybe who they're targeting might still be coaching. But here's, here's what was told to me yesterday. Why would you take that job right now? It is a mess internally at Michigan and internal investigations into the athletic department. I mean, they've got third parties that are looking at everything going on at Michigan. And if you're a coach going into that, there's going to be a lot going on and will continue to go on. When you take that job, is it still a great job? Yes. But this might prevent somebody from jumping into something and not really knowing exactly what's going to come out of this. So, you know, they're on the clock because that transfer portal and holding on to these kids and the new recruits that you brought in Michigan, and they got a bull game at the end of the month. All right. I was talking about acls. There was an article that came out yesterday. I think it was a post that got 3 million views and it had to do with the rash of ACLs. So you start to look at Micah Parsons, Patrick Mahomes, Nick Bosa, Malik Neighbors, Tyreek Hill, Tucker Craft, Zach Ertz, Marshon Latimore, Naji Harris and Daniel Jones. So Naji Harris and Daniel Jones, they had Achilles injuries. Everybody else torn ACLs. And people thought, well, wait a minute here. Is this a trend? So 30 ACLs have been torn so far this season. Now, that sounds like a lot. Well, the previous. So it's 30 and counting with three weeks to go in 20, 24, 38, 2023, 43, 2022, 51, 2021, 57. So it's actually down. And I don't know if this year is an anomaly or maybe we're trending down, but it certainly looks with those numbers that we've gone down every year in the last five years prior to that 2020, there were 42, 34. In 2019, then it went to 53, 52, 49, 50, 45, 2013, there were 63 torn ACLs. So maybe we're trending down and there's really nothing you can do. I mean, you can strengthen the muscles around your knee, but as far as an acl, an mcl, a pcl, an lcl, you know, given what these guys go through and, you know, you don't. You got some skill guys here, Parsons, Mahone, Bosa, Neighbors, Tyree Kill, you know, the. These are. It feels like everything's a skill position now. But, you know, some is artificial turf, some is natural turf. That's the study that I would want. If I was going to say, let's do a study on these ACLs, I would say, okay, what's the turf? How often on astroturf, how often on natural turf? Why can't we come up with a universal turf that's inside and outside that we the NFL commission. And therefore, if you want to have a concert on a Tuesday night, you know, the Bears had a concert, what, eight days before they played their game against the Browns. So you're going to tear up the field. You know, that's what I'm trying to understand. Is it the field? Is it the turf? Is it maybe shoes that you're wearing? But, and I'm sure the NFL, at least I hope they are, they've, you know, commissioned a study to look at this. But these are numbers that you should at least know. Why are we having these ACLs? Is there something that is maybe suspicious with this or something we could pinpoint on this? But you know, the fact that it's 30 and counting. But when you have star players get hurt, that's when we take notice. Micah Parsons and Patrick Mahomes, two of the biggest names offensively and defensively in the game. Micah Parsons, non contact acl. That's what I want to know. Patrick Mahomes got hit and landed on. But I want to know, you know, Malik neighbors, you know, the Meadowlands turf, famously bad for a long, long time. But if the NFL is going to look at this and we're going to go to an 18 game schedule, I think we got to be fair to these players that there are certain. I mean, I watched the commanders the turf when RG3 got hurt. That was criminal. But you see some of these fields. I'll go back to the field when the Dolphin or in Miami, it was the Bengals against the Niners with Joe Montana and a Bengal lineman, Tim Crumry blew out his knee and the turf was terrible. We've had a couple of Super Bowls where the players talk about the turf is slick and guys falling down in the Super Bowl. So that to me is what's alarming. Not that, hey, 30 and counting. Oh, my God. Mahomes and Michael Parsons, Malik neighbors. Okay. Do they get hurt? Non contact. Where did they get hurt? Did they get hurt on natural turf? Astroturf, can we come up with something that's universal so these players can prepare for that? Because you don't want to go to a game and go, what kind of shoes can I wear? Yeah, Seaton. Yeah, I'm reading a thing here from the nflpa. It says the data supports that artificial turf is significantly harder on the body than grass. Specifically, players have a 28% higher rate of non contact lower extremity injuries when playing on artificial turf. Of those non contact injuries, players have a 32% higher rate of non contact knee injuries on Turf and a 69% higher rate of non contact foot and ankle injuries on turf compared to dress on grass. So the knee injury, it goes up 32%. But the. But ankle injuries is up 69% on turf. Yeah. And if you've ever played on it or even walked on it, and then you wonder you know, players have talked about certain surfaces feel like concrete. And especially in December when you fall, and all of a sudden it's like. I mean, you bounce off those. It doesn't help absorb anything. Yeah. See, and I think the thing with turf is that it isn't so much how hard it is, it's that your foot sticks differently. Yeah. And that's why you end up getting these ankle and, you know, foot injuries, knee injuries, because the turf is just so much more sticky. But you've got marquee guys. Micah Parsons, Patrick Mahomes, Nick Bosa, Malik neighbors, Tyreek Hill. Like, these are marquee players getting hurt. Yeah, Paulie, I went back, and you mentioned the Washington commanders back when they were the redskins. Robert Griffin III, his injury in the 2013 NFL wild card game that completely derailed his career. That field is horrid looking. I know it's late December, but it looked like something for a bunch of kids would play in a park that was unattended. There's just chunks of dirt and very little grass. He plants his foot in a pile of dirt, and that's it. Yeah. That felt like it was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Oh, this feels awful. It is. It was embarrassing to watch that. And. And it's a playoff game. That's where owners get together and maybe come up with a product commission, a study, and maybe they've done this. But I'm just looking at these numbers, and everybody was going, oh, my God, look at all of those torn ACLs. And then you realize, no, you can go back. You can go back to 2018 when we had 53 of these. 52, 49, 50, 20, 21, 57. We're actually trending in a better direction. But I just wonder, can you come up with something that can be used both indoor and out, or maybe you just have indoor and you have outdoor? So these players can at least know what. What's in store. And you got to test this in the weather. What's it like in September? What's it like in January? Because. And maybe it has something to do with the shoes that you're wearing as well, but it. It seems like an alarming number because a couple of marquee guys got hurt and are done for the year. It's not an alarming number. Now, I don't know where everybody was, including myself, in 2021 when there were 57 torn ACLs. Those. That seems to be an alarming number. All right, we'll get to phone calls. Coming up. 8, 7, 7, 3 DP show email address dpdanpatrick.com yeah Paulie, I just found this from NFL.com and it was published yesterday. 12-15-2025 Safety and consistency and field Services. Coincidentally. Yeah, it's been in play. Yeah. But why? Why now? Where was this before? Once again, when you get big names that get hurt, then all of a sudden people want answers here. Alice in Pittsburgh. Hi Alice, what's on your mind today? Hi Dan, thanks for taking my call. Talking about the Steelers and I I'm a Steeler fan a long time since the 70s. They're not consistent enough. Like they still make me nervous. They look good last night but it was the Dolphins I think having Marcus Scantling. I can't remember his middle name but anyway I think that he's some of the other guys. Yeah. All this Scantling. Yeah, yeah. I mean he looked good last night, but Aaron's played with him before. We never know which Steelers team is going to show up. And I feel your pain, Alice, but here's the thing. You've had years, decades where you knew what to expect. You should know what to expect out of the Steelers is they're just a little better than average. It's not. They're not going to be great now. They may have moments, drives, passes, runs, you know, defensive plays. They're just not this is who they are. They're a little better than an average team. Andrew in Washington, I. Andrew, what's on your mind today? Hey, good morning, Dan. Dan, it's. Thanks for taking my call real quick before we get to the surfaces because I was going to talk about that I had some of that information that Polly had but shout out to Cooper flag youngest NBA player ever to have 40 points in a game last night. Also the only player ever born in Maine to have 40 points in the NBA. But that surfaces thing didn't get released yesterday. It actually was agreed upon December 4th. I'm sure they just put the press release out yesterday just to solidify all the injuries that happened in the Homes and Parsons. But yeah, in 2026 any new or replaced surface must meet the new standards of this new agreement. And by 2028 all NFL stadiums must have approved fields. I don't know if that's you know, synthetic or if it's grass. But, hey, Dan, real quick, last night's game, four consecutive TD drives for the Steelers for the first time since week two of 20, 2018. They lost that game because back in 2018, that was one of two games that Patrick Mahomes has had six touchdowns in a game. So just a quick stat. Thanks, guys. All right, thank you, Andrew. Thank you, Buddha in San Francisco. Hi, Buddha. What's on your mind today? What up, DP? Happy Tuesday, boys. Let's go, Seaton. June 3rd will forever be celebrated as Hot Take Day. As the Chiefs bowed out this past weekend, I was like, man, that was some proclamation by him. Bloop. Bloop to you, Seaton. And Dan, real quick, I was watching Van Peasy last night, and after the game, I did not know Mike Tyler. Mike Tomlin was 120 on Monday night Football. I thought that was a sneaky stat. And dp, why I really wanted to call in today was about the Nick Wright interview yesterday. And I hesitate to bring this up, but I agreed with his MVP take yesterday. And I never agree with his takes. I mean, but I feel like the MVP award is comprised of, like, recency bias in the last few weeks of the year, and then, like, not the totality of the year, like he was saying. And then I'm 100% with the Danette Collective. You cannot put Nick Wright's picture next to Al Michaels. That's like the marquee space, maybe starting out in the BRG bathroom or something. And lastly, Dan, I have a documentary question for you. I know you mentioned and spoken about your affinity for Biggie Smalls. He's one of my favorite rappers, R.I.P. but I was wondering if you watched the latest Sean Combs documentary. It is wild how he ran his world. I have not stopped to watch it. Paulie watched a little bit of it, so I was. I was waiting to see if it was worth watching. Yeah, Paulie, it's. If you want the backstory of the past 25 years in that company, everyone's talking now. Well, this is 50 Cent, right? He's. Is he the one that commissioned this documentary? I don't know. Yeah, yeah, 50. He did the documentary. It's a little unclear as to how he got a lot of the footage. There's some scandal about that. And I mean, yeah, it is a. It's a documentary from 50s perspective. Yeah. And that's where some people have a problem because it's slanted that he hates P. Diddy. But, yeah, I haven't. I Haven't watched it. Yeah, more you should watch it because, yes, 50 hates puff and that's not a secret. But the woman that directed it, she was pretty clear on. No, no, this can't be a hit piece. All of this stuff, like you got people that were there 30 years ago, like, no, no, no. This isn't like some type of hit piece. This is stuff that he actually did and there's video to prove it and there's like before, you know, never before seen footage and stuff like that. But if you're into it, it's four. It's four hours, four different parts if you want to. It's not a great look for her Puff. It's. It is not good at all. As if it could get worse. It does. Yeah. Significantly, significantly worse. Yeah. And, you know, I feel bad. There were a couple of women who were brave enough to come forward years, years ago and nobody would listen to them because he was a very, very powerful person. All right, we'll take a break. We will update our poll results. Jim Harbaugh at the top of the hour. Up next, it is our play of the day. If you're the commissioner, you say to the owners when you go to the owner's meetings, hey guys, how about we come up with some kind of universal commission to look at the turf? Maybe we do that a decade ago or two decades ago that how about we protect our players, how about we protect our stars? Now all of a sudden you announce that there's going to be a study and you announce it yesterday. The commissioner's job is to help the owners make money, not have the owners spend money that they don't want to spend. It should be incumbent upon the commissioner to ensure that these players have a safe environment. It's not a safe game, but it shouldn't be. Hey, how'd you get injured? Non contact injury. Blew out my acl. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's the Players association to make sure that the players have a safe environment. That. That is 100% their role owners. I don't think they feel that way at all. Yeah, but the owners own the stadium. Correct. And the Players association is not that strong to be able to stand up to these guys. But yes, when they have a collective bargaining agreement. How about we are part of that study that will help come up with natural turf Astroturf. What is safe? You should be able to come up with a surface that won't hurt players. A non contact injury. That's where you want to know. Okay, what, what ex. What happened on this play? What happened to Micah Parsons, one of the best conditioned athletes that you'll find, you know, in any sport. But even go back to soccer. And Seaton said this when Messi came over, greatest soccer player in the world goes, there's certain surfaces I'm not playing on. He didn't want to play on natural turf. Seaton, I think. Well, no, I think a lot of European players, when they come over, don't want to play on artificial turf. Okay. Right. Because it. Because of the injury risk. Because they don't have that in the Premier League. No, no, I don't think so. I don't. Pretty sure they all play on grass. And I think when the World cup comes here, all of the stadiums that the. That are hosting those events have to switch to natural grass for that. Oh, boy. I think, yeah. Paulie, historically, the NFL, anytime there's a rash of injuries. Remember was it 08? Tom Brady gets hit in the knees. No more hitting quarterbacks in the knees. A couple years ago, the hip drop tackle. No more hip drop. The horse collar. No more horse collar. There's no cost to change those rules, but you change the field to make a universal field requirement. That's cost for every owner. That's why they didn't do it. Which is obvious. Yeah. Sweet. And I think, you know, like what you had said just a couple minutes ago makes sense in a normal environment. Why don't we do things to make the game as safe as possible for the players? However, even we say probably just as recently as yesterday, if the players don't care, why should I care? Well, they don't care about their. They don't care about their health, so why should I care about their Health. If they don't care about the game being dangerous, why should I care about the game being dangerous? And we're just fans. Imagine having, you know, hundreds of millions of dollars or billions of dollars into it and looking at these dudes like, I don't care. Then get another running back. Yeah, but that's concussions. That's different than an ACL concussion. You're not out, you know, for a year. ACL, you're out for, you know, six to nine months, maybe even 12 months. That's that, that's the protection part of that. If players are going to play the way they play, like Mark, Micah Parsons is not changing the way he played because he blew out his Achilles. We're hoping Jackson Dart plays differently because he's been in concussion protocol or have symptoms for five times in 10 games. I don't know that the mindset changes from, well, concussions is different. If they don't care about concussions, then I don't care. But I do care about knee injuries. That's actually really serious. Either you care about making the game safer or you don't really, you know. And I think by and large the mindset seems to be don't really care. Yeah, but Jackson Dart is bringing contact. Micah Parsons got hurt and had nothing to do with anybody hitting him. Yeah, I understand that, but that's the point. Concussions, you're, you're getting hit. The, the non contact injury is what concerns me with these playing fields. Yeah, Paulie. Yeah. And if you look at it, you talked about this before, players would rather get hit in the head than hitting the knee. Was it the Zach Ertz hit the other day for Washington? His career is likely over. And that defensive back flew towards his knee helmet first. And so he is done. Done. If he went to the head, he's out two weeks. Well, yeah, Hines Ward told me that he's like, hey, that's why I grabbed my ankle when I got hit by Ray Lewis in the head. I grabbed my ankle because I knew if I my ankle I can stay in the game. But you get hit in the head, now you got a concussion, you're out of the game and you're okay. Maybe you're out one or two weeks, but the other injuries, now these guys are done. And it's late in the season. So now that impacts next season for Micah Parsons and Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes had his surgery yesterday. Now, I, I was surprised. I didn't know if they had to wait for the swelling to go down. I can only Tell you, when I had mine done the first time, they had to wait for the swelling to go down. But Mahomes is like, nope, cut me now. Yeah, see, it seems so odd to me though that like there is that split where, you know, how many guys do we know with CTE that are killing people or committing suicide or whatever? And that's the one that is like, hey, if they don't care, I don't care. Jim Harbaugh will join us coming up.
