The big news with the Colts getting sauce Gardener, the Cowboys went out and got Quinn and Williams. I want to play something for you that happened yesterday live when we were talking to Jay Glazer and of course, the great Fox insider. He was actually in London vacationing for a few days with his wife before coming back and he was getting a text message and it sounded like this. Checking your phone for trade. I'm getting call actually now saying, guy asked me, what do you think about Quinn and Williams? Last second here, might have a shot. So great, dude. Love the guy. So are the jets selling well? They weren't. They were kind of like, hey, you got to make us a huge offer, blow us out of the water. But, you know, maybe somebody's willing to do something like that. Yeah, maybe somebody like Dallas was texting Jay Glazer and Jay said, look, teams will use me as sort of a liaison or intermediary. Hey, can you inquire about this? Therefore they're not asking the team, they're asking Jay, hey, is he available? Just like Max Crosby. If you're the Raiders, you're going to hold on to Max Crosby. Love Max Crosby, but what are you doing and where are you going now? I thought that maybe if Geno Smith played as he has in the previous years and maybe Ashton Genti played well, Bowers is really good. You got Max Crosby and Pete Carroll. I thought it was a recipe for maybe a.500 team little bit better, maybe a little worse than that. But being competitive and you're not and Brock Bowers is the one guy that I would view as maybe untouchable because what can I get for Max Crosby? If you're going to get a couple of first round picks for Quinn and Williams, you're going to get a couple of first round picks for Max Crosby. But let's not be deceived by the picks that you get because if you look at what the jets got, full return for Sauce Gardner and Quinn and Williams, they got a first round pick from Indy in 2020. Six Dallas, second round pick in 2026, Indy's first round pick in 2027. And then they'll get a first round pick either from Dallas or Green Bay, whichever one is higher. You get A.D. mitchell, wide receiver, and you get a defensive lineman. So it's nice to have those picks. But as we've said many, many times down through the years, who's making the picks? It's not Ozzy Newsom from the Ravens or it's, you know, Howie Roseman from the Eagle. I mean, who's making the picks? Because if you don't have a great front office, it doesn't matter what picks you get. And plus, with those picks, what are you going to go after? Maybe a defensive lineman to replace Quinn and Williams, Maybe a defensive back to replace Sauce Gardner. We get caught up in, oh my God, they got all these first round picks. Okay, but you still have to make those first round picks move and work and what are we getting? And then you're trying to replace the players that you traded away. And it's all about money. Because if you look at the amount of money the jets were going to have to pay $120 million for Sauce Gardner. Now, his productions dipped a little bit, but he's still really good. This is a championship caliber move because you get a really good corner and it feels like they're all in. And why wouldn't you be? I think the Colts have to look around and go, the AFC is open. Like, the Chiefs may not make the playoffs. And then you got the Buffalo Bills. They didn't make any moves. I, I was really surprised. I thought Buffalo was going to make some moves. Here you stumble into Danny Daniel Jones. I mean, you were really, really. It's almost like what the Niners did with Brock Purdy. You screwed up Trey Lance and then Brock Purdy came in and saved you. You screwed up Anthony Richardson and now you got Danny Dimes to help save the day. And you got to look at this and say, we can not only win our division, we can win the afc. And I like the thinking. You're all in. You prove that, and that's believability in Daniel Jones, that he is your quarterback. And to add that to your defense, I thought it was a great move for them if they felt that's the one piece that we really needed. As far as the Jets, I can applaud them for getting a lot in return. But then you're saying, okay, not next year and probably not the year after that, maybe three years down the road, now, if you're a fan, and I think they just raised ticket prices, by the way, are you okay with that? Remember the 76ers with the process nonsense? Oh, it's the process. It's the process. It's the process. They had bad draft picks, and all of a sudden we waited, we waited. You know, they eventually got to Eastern Conference finals. But, you know, you got to trust. Like, the Cubs did this in 2011. They announced what they were doing. They're like, hey, we're getting rid of our players. We got three years maybe. And Theo Epstein cashed in on that. And they win a World Series. As long as you trust your front office, as long as you trust management, I'm okay with this. Would I be trusting the Jets? No, I would not. I don't know about Aaron Glenn as a head coach. They need a quarterback. Oh, I know. It's going to be a quarterback rich draft, like every quarterback, you know, draft is. Oh, you can get your quarterback. I don't know about that. But you're going to get these draft picks, and how good are they going to be? Who's drafting? That's the key. You know, the Cowboys getting Quinn and Williams, I like. Okay, I mean, I like him. And I did say yesterday, don't make a move that's now. Because there is no now. It feels like for the Cowboys, I want to know next year and the year after that. And Quinn and Williams is all pro a couple of times. He's 27, I believe so. Okay, we got another run stopper here. I need somebody to get to the quarterback. By the way, the Bengals don't move on from Trey Hendrickson. Their price, asking price, probably too much. Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback, will join us a little bit later on. We'll talk about that. But you start to look at those who did and those who didn't. And sometimes it's more fascinating those who didn't. I thought the Dolphins might move on from Chubb. I thought Jalen Waddle might move on from him as well. Buffalo. I thought they were going to do something. And all it takes is maybe one little move. And I don't think anybody was talking about Quinn and Williams or Sauce Gardner being traded. They were shocked that they were traded. Normally, you'll get a little inkling a player will find out that, hey. Or your agent will tell you, hey, your. Your name's being thrown around there. Hey, somebody's really interested in you. And as we found from Jay Glazer yesterday, the Cowboys reached out to him While he was on with us to ask if Quinn and Williams was available. And I think Jay was saying, I don't know if he is, but we're going to find out if he is. And that's all it took. Like, what are you willing to give? Yes, Marvin. And then Bree hall on X yesterday was really funny because he's a. Well, what about me? No, no, no, no. Trade me too. I would have. I like Bree hall, but I once again, like, how far do you go now if you're a Jets fan, do you go, well, at least we got Garrett Wilson and Breeze hall to go watch play. That's the hard part. Because if you're a true fan, you're not walking away from your, from your team for two years. Hey, you know what? I'm, I'll be back in a couple of years, okay? There's only so many games, you know, eight home games, nine home games. But you start to look at some of these teams and you wonder, why didn't you sell or why didn't you buy? Because certainly in the AFC it feels like the AFC is open for business. Because are you sold on Denver? Are you sold on the Chargers, the Chiefs, the Bills, Jags? Like, who's a great team? And I don't think you have one. The NFC feels like it's a little more top heavy. But we'll talk to Albert Breer and we'd love to give grades here or who won and who lost at the trade deadline. The Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts will join us a little later on and Phil Jackson will stop by. Phil has a new book out with Sam Smith, the longtime Chicago Bulls writer, NBA writer called Masters of the Game, where they have a conversation about the top 75 players. So that's coming up. Busy day. 8-773DP show the college football rankings. I don't think ever in my lifetime I would have thought that I would look at the rankings and go, Indiana is number two in America. Ohio State's number one. Then A and M and Bama. Notre Dame is in good shape. Miami is not. Texas on the cusp. So now it gets interesting. This is where you can't have another loss if you're going to make the playoffs. All right, Seaton poll question for hour one is going to be what? Going to be what? Well, if you're a Jets fan today, you are excited for the future or feeling lost. I came in yesterday afternoon and a couple of the back room guys, Rob and Anthony, they were sitting back there and I said, hey, how's it going, they go, great. And I go, and I didn't know Quinn and Williams had been traded. I said, what? What, you got something for Sauce Guard? And go, Quinn and Williams got traded. And I go, okay, sorry, just passing through. Just pass it through. So those are die hard jets fans, and I don't think they were all in on that trade because once again, you have something tangible with Sauce Gardner and Quinn and Williams. Now I just got some draft picks. Draft picks are potential. Potential gets you fired. You don't know. I mean, what are the odds you're going to get a player who is good? What are the odds you're going to get a player who's really good? You traded two guys who are really good. I think we can all agree, not hall of Famers, but really good. Now you got to try to find two really good players. Yes, Paulie, it is funny because the jets draft history is pretty bad, but recent history is a little. A little better. In 2022, they got sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson. Those are both working out. You look at the past couple years, it's all been good. But you're in this weird valley where they're in the middle of their careers, they're expensive, and they're expendable. Those two draft picks worked out for you. Those are the kind of guys you want to extend for the rest of their career. But this lull you're in, you got to be a seller. Well, we need to check and see who was the GM when they drafted those players because don't they have a new gm? I believe so. Once again, who's drafting? And you got ownership that you can't feel confident about. Aaron Glenn, I have no idea. I feel like if they didn't win a game, he'd probably not keep his job, but. So if you're a Jets fan, it's about hope again. Hey, we got. We got rid of Sauce Gardener's contract and we got some first round picks. Still don't have a quarterback, but it's a quarterback. Heavy draft. They're gonna find their guy. You know what I would do if I was the Jetson? I trade for Kyler Murray. Oh, no, no. Yeah, I bring in Kyler Murray. Oh, no. Maybe. Maybe I get him, you know, a nice, nice price or something. Cardinals are moving on, apparently. Or they. They're not ready to turn it over to Kyler Murray. You know what, when we come back, their head coach, John. John Jonathan Gannon after the win on Sunday was like, hey, you know, we. Connor Murray still our guy. Then all of a sudden something changed. 24 hours later, I'm like, what happened? What changed? I wish I would have been in the press conference because I have two questions that I would have asked to the coach. All right, so we'll settle on a poll question. Got a busy day. Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback, Dave Roberts, Dodgers skipper and Phil Jackson a little bit later on as well. Just getting started on this Wednesday. We'll take a break. It's not only about what we can do to improve our health, but also what our health says about us and the way we're living. Like our episode where we look at diabetes in the United states. I mean, 50% of Americans are pre diabetic. How preventable is type 2? Extremely. Or our in depth analysis of how incredible mangoes are. Having a genius idea without a need for it is nothing. It's like not having it at all. It's a very simple, elegant lesson. Make something people want. First episode, how Southwest Airlines use cheap seats and free whiskey to fight its way into the airline business. The most Texas story ever. There's a lot of mavericks in that story. We're going to have mavericks on the show. We're going to have plenty of robber barons. So many robber barons. And you know what? They're not all bad. And we'll talk about some of the classic great moments of famous business geniuses, along with some of the darker moments that often get overlooked, like Thomas Edison and the electric chair. Listen to business history on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know the shade is always shadiest right here. If you're watching on Peacock or you're listening on your radio station, your local radio stations, over 400 cities carrying the program. Was Kyler Murray benched or are they waiting for him to be a hundred percent? It's kind of tricky because I said this yesterday, that if I'm the Cardinals, I would probably want him to be 115% healthy. Not possible, but I want it to be. Are you sure you're healthy? Because Jacoby Brissette is playing good now. Is he a long term solution? No, but I don't know if Kyler Murray is a long term solution. Jonathan Gannon is the Cardinals head coach and he said that Jacoby Brissette is going to start the next game to release the quarterback in Seattle. Jacoby will start and Kyler will keep working on his health bucket. Is this still fully health related? Yeah. Why are you willing to rule Kyler out five days ahead of time? This time I didn't rule him out. Rule out him out the possibility of him starting. Yeah. I think, you know, with the clarity that it provides game planning for our team, I think that's important. Go from there. Love the energy. I would have said if I was in the press conference. Could Kyler have played today? Coach, like, how, how close is he to being able to come back? Because now the backup quarterback is not interviewed. But if Kyler Murray and his reps wanted to send a message, they could send a message through one of the insiders and say Kyler has been cleared to play. He's 100%. But if they win the next game. Give me, give me what their schedule is. Paulie. It's pretty tough. The Cardinals are at Seattle, host San Francisco, host Jacksonville, at Tampa, then the Rams. That's tough. Yeah. Yeah. This feels like there's a little more to that, that now you're. You're going to rule him out Five. Five days before you're going to play a game. Was. Was he that close or is he so far away that. Because after Sunday's game he said Kyler Murray is still our starting quarterback right after the win, he's still our starting quarter. After Monday night's game, he's still our starting quarterback. Now, what changed? Yeah, Paulie, could this be nothing more than Jonathan Gannon trying to save his job? He got a win last week after five straight losses. I'll do anything to keep my job, and this guy by a slim margin, helps me keep it. But what's that say about Kyler Murray's future? If a journeyman Jacoby Brissette is kind of holding him off right now. Exactly. It's like whatever works. This week when I'm trying to keep my job for another year in Arizona, I mentioned who drafted Sauce Gardner, who drafted Quinn and Williams, because there's, you know, I think we're looking at the jets saying, hey, they're in good hands. Who is it? Darren Mogi. Is that right? Marvin Moji. Moji, okay. He's the gm. He wasn't there. He didn't draft Sauce Gardner. He didn't. It was Joe Douglas who drafted Sauce Gardner. Mike McCagnon, he drafted Quinn and Williams. So let's, let's be fair to who's in charge now. Darren Moji, the Jets gm, had this to say on his message to jets fans. The jets gm. The goal is always to win. Look, these coaches and players work too hard every day, all day with the goal of winning on Sunday. And that never changes because that's what the, the fans deserve, that's what the players deserve, that's what the coaches deserve, and that never changes. I understand the trade deadline in different moving parts, but the, the goal is to always win on, on Sunday. And that's what we work to do all week. And that's, and that's, that's how it is. Okay, Okay, I understand what he's saying. But now you're going to rebuild on top of the rebuild on top of the rebuild. You know, you, you keep putting a foundation in, then you take the foundation out and then you put a foundation in. I want to build a house here. I want to build a home here. And that's the biggest concern I have with the jets is, okay, we have draft picks and what are we going to do with those draft picks? All I want to know is what is our game plan? Are we going to go into the draft trying to find our quarterback? Are we going to make a trade to get a quarterback here? Because if you don't have that, it really doesn't matter. I mean, you, you had Aaron Rodgers, granted, at the end of his career, but you couldn't make that work. Quinn and Williams and Sauce Gardner were playing and it didn't really matter. Garrett Wilson is a quality wide receiver. Breeze hall is a really good all purpose running back. Now you've gotten rid of your two best defensive players. I was surprised. You know, I thought Breeze hall or Garrett Wilson were gonzo. But you know, as long as you got a plan, fans want a plan. Yes, bully. But the jets were so bad this year, 1 and 7, it allowed them to completely rebuild. If they're 3 and 4. You can't make these trades. You're too close. So you're actually, you don't want to be in that no man's land. The jets are actually in this weirdly good spot to move on from huge contracts of players who have cooled off a little bit. Again, I'm not a Jets guy, but I could, I could see the move because they're not winning anything this year anyway. Adam in Rochester. Hi Adam. Dan, thank you for taking my call. I'm 5 11, £170 and full of gangrene energy today. Oh, I'm excited about the trades. Okay. I thought that they were good trades. I mean, I agree with everything you've said, except I don't want Kyler Murray at all. Okay. I agree. We've been down this road before with them, you know, drafting Sanchez, Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson providing us hope. I just hope that Aaron Glenn can model what he's doing now after what Dan Campbell did in Detroit. Dan Campbell was able to make a move with Matthew Stafford, get Jared Goff, get a couple first round picks and change that whole franchise around. I feel like Aaron Glenn and Darren Muji have this same opportunity to do that. Sauce has not been good the last two years. Quinn and Williams is 29 years old. He said, I got one sack this year against Aaron Rodgers in the first game of the season and then after that, that's it. And you're right, they're one in seven. So stop kicking us while we're down. Hello. I don't like the mothership. I think it's totally garbage. I was watching Jeff Saturday this morning saying how Indianapolis did so great with the Sauce trade. I would disagree. Even though I am a Jets fan, I'm biased, but I would disagree. I would think that the jets got two first round picks and a wide receiver that they drafted in the second round, but they're probably going to be late. First round picks though, to be honest with this, Adam, you know, honest assessment here, I mean, It'll probably be 26 or deeper with those first round draft picks still. First round picks and you get a wide receiver who's really Good up until 99 yards. You know that that last yard is always difficult for him when he gets to the goal end. But I'm glad, Adam, you know, hey, you're a Jets fan. You got to live with it. And if you see the positives there, I had mentioned earlier that Sauce Gardner Pro Football Focus still has him ranked pretty high. He has dipped a little bit. Quinn And Williams is not a sack guy. And. But, you know, these guys are expensive. I don't know what Dallas is doing, but the Colts, I like what the Colts did. Did they give up a lot? Yes. But then all you need is one Super Bowl. Like, what would jets fans give for one super bowl in your lifetime after so many years of nothing? You've gone to a couple AFC title games, but you would give up. You would give up all the winning seasons after that, be like, hey, we're not going to win after that, but we're good. We can take away playoff appearances for the next 20 years, and you might do that anyway. But if you got a Super bowl, you'd be like, hey, this is worth it. We got a Super Bowl. That's all you want. That's what the Colts want. They want a Super Bowl. Buffalo wants to be back. Super Bowl. Although they didn't make any moves. Barry in Long Island. Hi, Barry. How are you feeling today as a Jets fan? Good morning, fellas. Good morning, Chat Row. Poor, poor Adam. And Rochester. So young, so naive. He has no idea what he's in for. I turned 65 last week, and I'd resigned myself to the fact that I'm not going to see a Jets Super Bowl. Now I'm pretty sure my first sports memory was the jets winning the Super bowl in 69. And by some grace of God, maybe my last sports memory might be a Jet Super Bowl. Not. Well, we'll just have to wait and see if. If these guys can draft. If not, you know, let's go, Islanders. You know, Barry is 65. Do we think Barry is going to see a Jets super bowl in his lifetime? Todd, I'll start with you. Not likely. Okay. Seaton. Barry, 65, do you think. You know, I like Barry, and that's the only reason that I'm gonna say yes, is because I like him. But if you were to ask my real thoughts, that might be different. Marvin, how about you? No. All right. Paulie, can I get the results of his last checkup and his diet? Are you healthy, Barry? Actually, yes. My labs came in last week. My blood. My blood sugar, little high, but my cholesterol is back within normal, so. And long life lives in my family. Okay. All right, let's put Barry at over, under 85. Wow. All right, so 20 years. We'll give him 20 years. I'm going to say no. You know, if you just go back the last 20 years. Yeah. I'm going to say no. Sorry, Barry. Go, Islanders. Barreled Ben in Miami. Hi, Ben, what's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. First time, long time. Five nine and a soft 175. So I just wanted to point out how funny it is how in the NFL, the NFL is really the only league where they care so much about winning. Where if you're one player and AD And I. Mitchell, you make one boneheaded play, you lose your team a game. Not even a big game, a regular, regular season game. Now you're off the team. You got to go play for the terrible Jets. You're not welcome anymore. They haven't thrown him the ball in weeks. It's unbelievable. I mean, it's. One play just changes everything. In the NFL when another sports, you make a bad play and then, you know, everyone just moves on so fast. Yeah. A.D. mitchell. Yeah, he got traded. I saw social media said, imagine going to bed at 7 and 2 or something and waking up 1 in 7 or whatever the Colts record is in the jets record. Juxtaposing that I went to bed in first place with playoff hopes and then I wake up and I'm going to be a Jet. Yes, Marvin. I'm all right with him being traded because you see how angry people get when their team loses. Especially even Coach Gannon with the running back at Arizona. They work 6 days non stop for this one game. It's not like MLB or NBA. Oh, we lost tonight. We got a game tomorrow. Yeah, we worked six days tirelessly. That's why I also don't take the excuse I didn't have my team ready to play. Yes. Six days. Get out here. Yes. Todd could also look at it the other way. Over the course of the year, sometimes you get traded and you're on one of the worst teams and all of a sudden you wake up the next day and you're a playoff team or a Super bowl contender. So it's always nice to look at the glass half full. Not in this particular instance, but there have been times where someone was on a horrible team and then next thing you know, you're on a great team. No. Sauce Gardner did. Yeah. Went from a bad team. Yeah, he. Where'd you find that example, Dan? Yeah, it just happened. He. He went from the jets to the Colts. Yeah, I was thinking more Quinn, but that we should keep it positive. Let's think of the teams that go, players that go from worst to first. Oh, okay. Yeah. Quinn and Williams going to the Cowboys. Another run stopper. I'm guessing they're going to be great against the run. Problem is they're not good against the pass. But. But you know when you go back that Jerry was teasing this, that they were making a move, they get the linebacker from the Bengals, you know, Wilson. But that doesn't change anything. But yeah, okay, Quinn. And Williams is now. Is he 29? He is turning 28 this season. Yeah. He's 27. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I said. And he's got three more years left on his contract and he's. I wouldn't say a bargain, but he's completely under contract and the jets paid a lot of it up front. But. But he's not a sack guy. He. He actually was for the first few years of his career. He had a great pass rush rate. Okay. As they say on pff. Okay. But now he's going to be a run stopper. Yes. Marvin, at least the Cowboys didn't spend a lot of money on the defensive backfield. Duron Bland, man. Trayvon Diggs. Trayvon Diggs. That dude had like 80 interceptions a couple years ago. Oh, I know. And they paid him. They paid him. I don't know. That's what makes it worse. You spending a lot of money on these guys that are just getting burnt tirelessly. I thought they were going to try to go all in and get Trey Hendrickson. I really did. Now, I didn't hear anything that, you know, they were inquiring about that, but I would have if you said, I can have Quinn and Williams or Trey Hendrickson. I'm probably taking Trey Hendrickson because we need a pass rusher here. You already got your run stopper, right, Marvin, I'm. I think we kind of misrepresent the defensive tackle because the last couple Super Bowls, what have you, needed a great defensive tackle. And I think that's what they need, don't they? Didn't they get one from Green Bay? I said a great one. Whoa, wait a minute. No, no. Knock the kids. He's a. He's a good player. I need a game changer, though. No, I. Okay. There's only so many Aaron Donalds and Chris Jones out there. You gotta have. You still have to have a pass rusher, and they don't have that. All right, let me see. Gabriel in North Carolina. Hi, Gabe. Hey, guys. Thanks for having me on. First of all, the Jets. That is funny. And that's coming from a former Falcons fan since 1980. 81. I had to give up on my Falcons until they prove me otherwise. So I think that's what the fans should do for the Jets. But also, I wanted to say, I think you guys should do something on the show. When it comes to the end, when you guys are doing the round robin, what did we learn today? I think you guys should have, like a compliment sandwich. Everybody gets to do a round robin compliment sandwich. It could be about Fritzi. It could be about a coach saying something stupid, like one day at a time. It's all about the team, you know, do a DPS ds. So anyway, wanted to throw that out there. Thank you guys so much. All right, so we have to. We have two and a half years to come up with a compliment for everybody. Sheesh. It's a tight time. Yeah, give me a little more heads up. That's a tight time. Oh, by the way, I saw the calendars. The DP show calendars. Nudity. There is nudity. There is nudity. And when will they be able to pre order? Now we're going to autograph. We'll have a certain number that will be autographed and then the regular calendars will be there for purchase. And in time for the holidays as well. Indeed. Yeah. But I'm gonna guess here soon they'd be able to pre order the calendars. I would guess extremely soon. Okay, I would say, but they're great. It's a great calendar. It's funny. Like you're Marvin. Marvin hadn't seen it. I said, just open it up. And you started laughing probably at at least four of the pictures. There's a few months where it's like, it's going to be a long month for somebody. Yes. It's going to be tough to be looking at that picture. And yes, there is nudity in the calendar. Maybe not safe for work. Yes, it is one of the things over the years I've looked forward to most because I'll take these pictures sometimes and then kind of forget about them. And then all of a sudden, my social media will blow up. Somewhere between, like, you know, May turning into June, and it's like, oh, God, can I just skip this month? Like, oh, that's right. Did do that picture. You still. I think you still have the greatest month, worst month, when you were the turkey and you're on your back and your arms and legs are up and it is disturbing. I am still somewhat proud of that picture. I gotta admit, I felt like we really nailed that one. It is disturbing. That's the year I switched to ham. Look at, like a little turkey with tattoos. Oh, my God. No leftovers, no nothing. These are all iconic magazine covers. That's what the theme of the calendar is. Fritz he did not disappoint. Seaton did not disappoint. They're if they're all, it's really well done and it's a lot of fun. But we're autographing those now. They'll be available danpatrick.com and we'll let you know when you can pre order. Probably by the end of the week and if you want an autograph one, be able to do that as well. All right. We'll take a break. Just getting started here. More phone calls coming up. And next hour, Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback will assess what happened, what didn't happen yesterday. We're back after this with our play of the day. We have plenty of robber barons. I'm Eva Longoria. And I'm Maite Gomez Rejuan. Pretty much every entry into this side of the planet was through the el golf of el fue de Mexico, continuous forever and ever. It blows me away how progressive Mexico was in this moment. If you're a Jets fan today, you are. Right now, 63% are feeling lost as opposed to excited for the future. A lot of people saying, well, can it be both? Well, no, because then that's not the fun of the poll question. The fun of a poll question is and making you choose one or the other, we also have up there a new one that was just sent over. Currently. Which is the best state for football, Indiana or the field? The field is winning. Early results. Early results. But I don't know that the. That reality bears that out. Yeah, yeah, Paul, it's an easy case for Indiana. Notre Dame is in the playoff picture. Indiana is the best college football they've been in ever. And the. The culture in really good shape. And the entire state is in good shape. Okay. All right. That's a persuasive argument there. Yeah, I'd love to hear the counter. Okay. Is there a state that has better football? It's certainly not Ohio with Ohio State, the Bengals and the Browns. Yes. Paulie, I could take it further that the state of Indiana is having a renaissance of sports. The Pacers, I know the Halliburton injury, but they're in very good shape. Caitlin Clark, the most popular female athlete in our country, plays in Indiana. All their football teams are doing well. Baseball, not so much, but, you know, otherwise that state is having a renaissance. Is there triple A baseball in Indiana? That maybe they had a good year? Yeah, we'll check it. Yeah. Okay. Let's see. Sylvia in Fresno. Hi. Good morning, Dan. Hi. Hi. First time. And I'm a newbie because my husband Introduced me to your show, so now we can actually discuss about things he is listening to. So. And Today is my 60th birthday, and I was wondering if the dentist and you can give me a good birthday greeting song. Okay. Did your husband get you anything for your 60th? He got me a very nice watch. Oh, yeah. And then our 30th, fifth anniversary was two weeks ago, so we're gonna plan a long trip to Europe, maybe in the spring. All right, how about we gather around the campfire and we sing Happy Birthday to Sylvia. Happy birthday. Going to Europe. Gotta watch Happy Birthday, Sylvia. Thank you. And also, can I suggest for your last show, please show up at the. At your main cat, the cave, and just turn off the light just to end like, you know, like it should be. Okay. Yeah, well, we're still working on that. We're workshopping our last show. I mean, I have some thoughts if it was back in the man cave, but we will be in Atlanta. That's what I talked about during super bowl week, which will be a little awkward because it's super bowl week. But we're also saying goodbye. But we got time. We got time to figure that out. David in Ohio. Hi, David. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan, I had a comment about the calendars you were talking about. Would. Would the month of February happen to be a picture of Shay lighting up a heater at the watch party? Because that's the look of every Cowboys fan in February. Because they have nothing to look forward to in that month. Thank you. All right. Thank you, David. We didn't include Shade Irving in the calendar. Yes, Paulie. It's kind of sad. I would love to. He loves the nudity. We don't need nudity from Shay. Right, but he. Now, what's the born. Born and bred. Is that the tattoo across his belly? That is. Yes. Yes. It's like. Who had one there? Like Tupac, Thug Life. Yeah. That's sort of Shay and Irving's Thug life that he's got born and bred across his belly. Yes. Yeah. There's certain places where if you get a tattoo, you got to put in some work the rest of your life to keep that thing afloat, I guess would be the right word. Yeah, I don't think he did. I don't think he has, but it's there. But keep in mind, he's got a gun tattooed on the side of his head. Was that a.45? It is. Okay. He's one of those guys. If you saw him on the street, you would not mess with him. Like just eyeballing him. Like if there was a fight, like not that guy. Well, then he'll get a haircut where he shaves the sides and he's got tattoos on both sides, including he said, I don't know why I got a gun on the left side of my head. So when the police stops, stops him and comes up to the window, first thing they see is a gun on the side of his head. That's a tattoo. Yes, Marvin. And what he does for a living does not match him. No. Like, whoa, that's what you do. Yes. And if you meet his wife and kids, you're like, what, what, what gambling podcast this week we'll have it up on danpatrick.com actually we're going to tape it today. It'll be up@danpatrick.com Shane Irving, Bad Larry and of course Dylan from the home office. Andrew in Washington. Hi, Andrew, welcome back. Good morning, Dan Dennett. Thanks for taking my call. Just got a little comment about the Dicky V Invitational last night between Duke and Texas. My Duke, he started out their 26th straight season with a win and they did a good tribute to Dickie V from Coach K. Anyways, my other thing was College Football Playoff. Do you think this first ranking that comes out, all it is is all the dignitaries trying to get the right teams according to how they think it'll end up so that they're all in place because it makes no sense for Notre Dame to be intent when Miami, who has beaten Notre Dame and has the same amount of losses, is eight spots down. But yet they do honor a win against another team when Texas is in front of Oklahoma. Yeah, but it's the loss, the timing of the loss for Miami, I would guess, Andrew, the, the committee wants Notre Dame in the playoffs. They would love Texas in the playoffs. I don't know if it's. This is what we're hoping it's going to be. I mean you still have to rank them in accordance to what they've done. But then there are certain teams where you go, did they really play anybody? Have you beaten anybody? And that's the tricky part. How great is Ohio State? I think they're better than last year, but I have they proven that they're, you know, the best team in the country by who they've beaten? Yes, Marvin, I'm sure the committee was thrilled to have Virginia, Memphis. I know Virginia and Memphis could be making the playoffs. Who won the trade deadline? Who lost the trade deadline? The Dan Patrick Show — Hour 1 Summary
Podcast: The Dan Patrick Show
Hosts: Dan Patrick & the Danettes
Date: November 5, 2025
Episode: Hour 1 – NFL Trade Deadline Doesn’t Disappoint, Cardinals Sticking with Jacoby Brissett
Main Focus: Fallout from a dramatic NFL Trade Deadline, reactions to major moves, what it means for teams and fans, and the uncertain quarterback future for the Arizona Cardinals.
This episode captures the immediate aftermath of a stunning NFL trade deadline, with significant moves impacting the Colts, Cowboys, Jets, and more. Dan, accompanied by the Danettes, dissects the biggest trades—including Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams leaving the Jets—and what these mean for team-building, fan morale, and the ever-shifting landscape of the AFC and NFC. The show also checks in on the Cardinals' perplexing quarterback situation, highlights college football rankings surprises, and features calls from passionate, sometimes long-suffering fans.
Major Trades Highlighted:
Dan on Deadline Energy:
“The NFL Trade deadline did not disappoint. We’ll talk about that coming up.” (01:50)
Discussion on how teams use insiders like Jay Glazer for back-channel trade talks:
Assessment of the Trades:
Drawing parallels between the Jets’ approach and the NBA’s Sixers (“the process”):
Questions the ability of the new Jets GM (Darren Moji) to draft effectively as opposed to his predecessors.
Dan’s Solution for Jets’ QB Woes:
“You know what I would do if I was the Jets? I’d trade for Kyler Murray.” (18:28)
Dan unpacks Arizona’s startling decision to keep Jacoby Brissett starting over Kyler Murray, despite prior statements that Murray was still their QB1:
Discussion on coaching job security and the future for both Gannon and Murray:
Discussion about how trades drastically change player fortunes, e.g., Adonai Mitchell going from a contender to the Jets:
Noted that while some players move from great teams to rebuilding ones, sometimes the reverse is possible—though not in this case.
Dan on the value of draft picks:
“Draft picks are potential. Potential gets you fired. You don’t know… What are the odds you’re going to get a player who’s good? What are the odds you’re going to get a player who’s really good? You traded two guys who are really good.” (18:05)
Dan on fan patience:
“If you’re a true fan, you’re not walking away from your team for two years. ‘Hey, you know what? I’ll be back in a couple years, OK?’” (15:35)
Barry, lifelong Jets fan, facing reality:
“I turned 65 last week and I’d resigned myself to the fact that I’m not going to see a Jets Super Bowl. Now I’m pretty sure.” (27:30)
On Jonathan Gannon’s clarity about the Cardinals’ QBs:
“Why are you willing to rule Kyler out five days ahead of time… Is he that close or is he so far away? Because after Sunday’s game he said Kyler Murray is still our starting quarterback. Now, what changed?” (34:30)
Caller Adam with gallows humor:
“Full of gangrene energy today. I thought they were good trades… Just don’t want Kyler Murray at all.” (24:07)
Dan and the Danettes deliver thorough, frank, and humorous unpacking of the NFL’s wild trade deadline and its ramifications for fans, particularly those of the beleaguered Jets. In parallel, they surface the drama around the Cardinals’ quarterback choice and highlight a surprisingly competitive Hoosier state in college football. The hour captures the shifting sands of pro sports, the hope and heartbreak of fandom, and the eternal question: when will it finally pay off? If you missed the trades, hot takes, and fans’ therapy session, this hour is essential listening.
