We went live from All Star Weekend and had special guest appearance by Steph Curry himself. Steph talked about what separates the truly elite NBA shooters. You might as well just count that and get on back on defense. And we ranked our top five shooters from the 2000s. That's so tough. That's why we tap these conversations. Yes, absolutely. Love it. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio.
LaVar Arrington
Oh, yeah. Dan Patrick show, fox Sports Radio. LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Hux in for Dan and the guys here and listen. You can normally hear us Monday through Friday before the dan Patrick Show, 6:00am Eastern Time, 3:00 Pacific. But we are in for DP and crew here on this Thursday.
Trevon Edwards
Super big pause right there, my guys. Super big pause.
LaVar Arrington
I knew it.
Trevon Edwards
But I get it. This is Dan Patrick.
LaVar Arrington
But how the hell we feel in here on a Thursday morning? I've got a bone to pick with the kitchen here in the studio.
Trevon Edwards
I mean, you're just touching all of them, aren't you? Pause.
LaVar Arrington
What? We got a problem in the kitchen.
Trevon Edwards
I'm not going. I'm not going to reply. Why? What's going on in the kitchen?
LaVar Arrington
They don't have espresso in the kitchen.
Trevon Edwards
Jonas, you are not a Viking like you say you are.
LaVar Arrington
What are you talking. No, I just wanted.
Trevon Edwards
I'm a Viking. I go up in that son of a gun. I grab these little Styrofoam cups, I put it up under there. I put the dang thing in there. Boom. Something comes out. Something more comes out. I drink it.
LaVar Arrington
All right.
Trevon Edwards
They don't have an espresso. I guess you'll be saying they don't have. They don't have a frother either. I mean, why am I not able to froth?
LaVar Arrington
Here's. Here's the issue, and I will be accountable for this.
Trevon Edwards
You are the issue.
LaVar Arrington
So I brew my coffee at home, and I.
Brady Quinn
That's right. You know, how do. How do you brew it? How exactly do you brew it?
LaVar Arrington
It drips. There is no. There is no.
Trevon Edwards
You are on a roll, bruh. You're on a roll.
LaVar Arrington
You're. You got to get perfect.
Trevon Edwards
The dp. So bone to pick.
LaVar Arrington
Okay.
Trevon Edwards
In the kitchen.
Brady Quinn
And you drip.
LaVar Arrington
So I do. I'm not one of these instant coffee makers where you throw a pot in and it comes out. Now I'm old school. I like to see the coffee drip.
Trevon Edwards
You want to press it.
LaVar Arrington
I like for. I like for it to earn its place in my.
Brady Quinn
Actually old school, by the way. Like, when there'd be something more old school than that, like, wouldn't you actually grind down beans? You know, then you put it in, press it, which you don't. You don't actually grind down the beans.
LaVar Arrington
Oh, no, no. No. Yeah. No, that won't be happening. No. And I've also.
Brady Quinn
So you're not really that old school.
LaVar Arrington
And I've also done the instant coffee, the in laws, like if you do.
Trevon Edwards
It the right way, you can do instant coffee really, really well.
LaVar Arrington
They'll pour grinds in and you've got to stir it yourself. It's very. Like the whole thing just doesn't happen.
Trevon Edwards
It's disgusting. Disgusting. What? French press is dope. You know that's what I'm saying.
Brady Quinn
But like Jonas doesn't do that because he doesn't work that hard at it.
LaVar Arrington
You know French.
Trevon Edwards
But I grew up on instant coffee. Shouts out to Carolyn Arrington. Carolyn Kaiser Arrington.
Brady Quinn
And if you don't.
Trevon Edwards
Huh?
Brady Quinn
You just gave her middle name.
Trevon Edwards
No, that's her maiden name. She doesn't have a middle name. Q. It's like that old school dip, like. Yeah, she doesn't have a middle name. Interesting. You know, it's crazy. My mother in law doesn't have a middle name either.
Brady Quinn
Really?
Trevon Edwards
Yeah, they don't have middle names.
LaVar Arrington
Maybe they do.
Trevon Edwards
They're just kind of a coincidence. Weird coincidence. No, they're not ashamed of their name. My dad. They don't happen to have one. I think if your dad's name is. What was your dad's name?
LaVar Arrington
Middle name Willis.
Trevon Edwards
I mean, what's wrong with that? Like Willis Reed.
Brady Quinn
What's wrong with you, Willis?
Trevon Edwards
What you talking about?
Brady Quinn
Will you talk about Willis?
Trevon Edwards
I don't think there's a problem with Willis. What's his first name? Come on, man.
LaVar Arrington
Charles.
Trevon Edwards
Charles Willis. There's nothing wrong with that name.
LaVar Arrington
Agreed. But I think he had a problem with it, which is why he named one of his sons Tyrone, which is weird.
Trevon Edwards
Why would you take it out on your child?
LaVar Arrington
If he had to wear it, he's got to wear it.
Trevon Edwards
I think the name Tyrone is kind of tough. I had to be honest. Yeah, I think it's kind of tough. I mean too, man. I'm sorry, I. I just. I rock it. I vibe with Tyrone.
LaVar Arrington
But the point is you have a.
Trevon Edwards
Natural nickname if you have a name that has a natural nickname built into it. What's the. What's the first you meet him first day of school, he become your homie? What? What are you calling him the rest of the way?
LaVar Arrington
Ty.
Trevon Edwards
Come on, man. Come on, man. Yo, Ty, let's get him. And that's a tough name. Like if you call in Ty off of the sideline to come help you out with. With the swing on. On the.
LaVar Arrington
Don't make me get Tyrone.
Trevon Edwards
No, don't say the whole. If you say the whole name, it's real business. It's real business. But if you hit him with. I'm gonna hit Ty like this. Oh, no. You. You want to swing? You can swing. You can have the swing set. We'll wait. You call it. Tie off the sideline. Man, you just know that mother lover can handle himself, and it's already. Is already stated, so. I'm just saying. And Willis. Come on, man. Tying. Willis. Nah, I ain't playing with that. I don't want to see that trouble. Smoke. I don't want.
LaVar Arrington
All right, well, here's the smoke.
Trevon Edwards
I don't want what you don't want.
LaVar Arrington
I don't want to have to deal with the fact that I forgot to add espresso into my coffee this morning. And I come in, and I assume that the kitchen in there has got a little espresso button on that. On that. Whatever that cockamamie setup is there. They don't. They don't. They got lattes, cappuccinos, but they don't have the real deal. They got mocha.
Trevon Edwards
Mocha.
LaVar Arrington
They don't have the real deal. So. A little disappointed in the. In the effort. But they did fix a toilet. I don't know if anybody saw that. Brand new toilet.
Trevon Edwards
Really?
LaVar Arrington
To the bathroom.
Trevon Edwards
Nice. I try not to go in there too often. Every once in a while, get up in there, but not too often. Well, so that's good to hear, though.
LaVar Arrington
Hey, brand new.
Trevon Edwards
Maybe I might give it a run, you know?
Brady Quinn
Bet you will.
LaVar Arrington
You're. You're. You are.
Trevon Edwards
I drink these every day, bro. Like, it's not like it. Oh, you're off to a good start. Like, I drink this every day. Looks like mud. Like, I'm drinking something that looks like mud because I'm a Viking, baby. A Norseman. Let's jump out there. Let's get on the waves. Safer at sea.
LaVar Arrington
Do you have some Viking in you?
Trevon Edwards
I said. I told you I do.
LaVar Arrington
Really?
Trevon Edwards
Yeah, bro. Yeah. Can't tell. What's that? What's his name? Utri Wellington, son of Utri and Ragnar Ut. Son of Arrington. Ragnarok.
LaVar Arrington
Just a.
Trevon Edwards
We just get after it, baby. Just big axes slaying it.
LaVar Arrington
Well, yeah, I. I have a belief that if the Philadelphia Eagles.
Trevon Edwards
Son of Ut. I play for the Philadelphia Eagles.
LaVar Arrington
Well, I think if we win Super.
Trevon Edwards
Bowls, we slay Chiefs.
LaVar Arrington
If the Eagles took a 23andMe, they'd see a lot of Italian in them.
Trevon Edwards
What Would it say. What is it?
LaVar Arrington
A lot Italy there, you Italian dog. Kevin Patullo, dang. Is now the brand new offensive coordinator in Philly.
Trevon Edwards
There's a common theme here.
LaVar Arrington
He was promoted there from within. And so you got Sirianni, Petullo, Fangio, Big Dom. I mean, listen, Crab family up in Philly. If, if the NFL ever goes to Italy, you know who's playing?
Trevon Edwards
The ambassadors of Italy.
LaVar Arrington
Brady, Take a bow. You guys are taking over, man.
Trevon Edwards
I had taken par yesterday.
Brady Quinn
Did you?
Trevon Edwards
Yeah, I did. It was good.
Brady Quinn
You were preparing for today's show, I guess so.
Trevon Edwards
I didn't even.
Brady Quinn
I, I look at this higher and I think, you know, this will end up working out for them. However, last time I hired from within Brian Johnson, it didn't quite work out. And so you kind of wonder if that could potentially play an impact, you know, on this or if that plays, you know, any role whatsoever. But at least for the Philadelphia Eagle, from the Philadelphia Eagle standpoint, they're coming off a Super Bowl. They're. They're going to be a team that I think, you know, still has a decent amount they want to prove, but a lot they want to carry over from what they did last year. So, you know, elevating him from a guy who's already a past game coordinator, associate head coach title last year, you know, into this OC position, you got to trust that they're going to be. He's going to be ready for this. But again, recent history shows us that the last time they hired from within didn't quite work out. So I think that's the only concern is that outside of that, though, you know, Howie Roseman, we keep talking about throwing a bouquet of flowers at. He's always involved in these decisions and I'm sure he's involved in this one too. And if he feels confident in his ability to be able to take that next step and be the oc, you know, more power to him then. And, and they, they probably are going to get it right because more often than not, he has got it right.
Trevon Edwards
I just think, hey, they have such a positive structure involved, the positive culture going on right now. And while I'll say success is always fleeing, right, like you're only as good as what you've done for somebody lately. And, and if anybody knows that, Nick Sirianni knows that. I, I think right now the vibes are so good and so positive and they have so much stability and in their personnel, it would be. It's like messing up a, a, a fried chicken wing you know what I mean? Like, that's hard to mess up, you know, where you're at right now. Some people may relate, but some people may not. I don't know.
LaVar Arrington
What's that supposed to mean?
Trevon Edwards
I mean, I'm just saying you season it the right way and don't. Don't get carried away. Even if you. Even if you try to figure out how to bread it, don't get carried away on what you do. Drop that bad boy into the grease and let it. Let it cook. And listen. Unless you go all the way to the end to where you just totally burn that wing. Really fried, hard wings are not bad.
LaVar Arrington
He loves it.
Trevon Edwards
He loves it, Johnson. So to me, where they're at right now, I think it would be hard for them to mess up a move like this to promote. And in fact, this would be the perfect time. If you're going to promote from in, inside, and internal, this would be the time to do it because it just looks like everybody is on the same wavelength, the same frequency. So that's what I would say. I think. I think it's important when you make big moves, especially in success, you're not doing something that could clearly disrupt the chemistry. And I think that that's why it would be the thought process of not bringing someone from the outside into the mix.
LaVar Arrington
Well, a good thing about Philly is, you know, if it doesn't work, you probably will get a year or two anyways, so they'll. They'll get you up out of there pretty quick, as they've done in the past. I just. That's a pretty.
Trevon Edwards
What you mean they'll off him?
Brady Quinn
Well, it's not like Brian Johnson only got one year.
Trevon Edwards
They'll whack him.
Brady Quinn
Yeah, I mean, move on, man.
LaVar Arrington
He got one year and they made the playoffs like that.
Trevon Edwards
Forget about it.
LaVar Arrington
They made the playoffs. It was like, yeah, we'll see you.
Trevon Edwards
Hey, forget about it.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah. Nice. Nice knowing you. But that is the. The situation there in Philly for the Eagles. Hey, Mickey, I'm.
Trevon Edwards
Hey, Mickey. Hey. Hey, Mickey. Go pay him a visit. By the way, he made the wrong decision. Hey. Hey. Hey, Dom.
LaVar Arrington
You're buddies with Big Dom.
Trevon Edwards
Hey, Dom. Go pay him a visit.
LaVar Arrington
Does Big Dom get a ring?
Trevon Edwards
Hell, yeah, he gets a ring. Yes. And probably a bonus.
LaVar Arrington
Okay.
Trevon Edwards
Why wouldn't he? I mean, he's a major part of their staff.
LaVar Arrington
Really?
Trevon Edwards
Yes. Look up his, like, his. His. His titles. He's got, like, multiple titles.
LaVar Arrington
He's like a security guard.
Trevon Edwards
That's what he started out as he's like. He's got like titles now, bro.
LaVar Arrington
Lee, can you look up Big Dom's titles in Philadelphia to see whether or not it warrants him getting a ring?
Trevon Edwards
This warrants.
LaVar Arrington
It's important stuff here.
Lee
Nowadays he's considered the director of game day coaching operations.
Trevon Edwards
Bam. That means he needs them all in line.
LaVar Arrington
He plugs the headset in.
Lee
He did start out as the assistant to the chief security officer.
Trevon Edwards
He worked his way on up, bro. That's like, that's a long ass time ago. Back and when 99 to 2011, he. That's when I was coming out. He's been there before. He's outlasted me.
Lee
He's also listed as senior advisor to the general manager.
Trevon Edwards
There you go.
Lee
And the chief security officer.
Trevon Edwards
Come on, man. He's got. Why are you. What. That's like, that's important stuff, bro.
LaVar Arrington
Really elaborate titles, you know, like, logistically.
Trevon Edwards
Speaking, don't have somebody who handles it in a good way. And watch how, how people talk about the operation. There has been complaints about how teams travel, how things are set up, the security when you go to and fro, when you get to hotels, all kinds of game day. There are a lot of things logistically that the only way you know about it and you hear about it is if something goes wrong. So he's got a lot that he's got to. To juggle and maintain. Don't. Don't be like diminishing that man's role. Of course. I just wanted to know if they're not safe. How do you, how do you play game day if you don't have your meals, you jump on the plane or jump on the bus on the way, way to the plane, stuff like that. If the coaches aren't in line with what it is they have to do and scheduling stuff like that, how is it that you are organized well enough to operate at a level to win the Super Bowl?
LaVar Arrington
I mean, I just was, you know, just trying to.
Trevon Edwards
Don't hate on Dom.
LaVar Arrington
I'm just trying to figure out, you know, what exactly that is.
Trevon Edwards
That ain't cute, bro. Don't hate on Dom.
LaVar Arrington
I didn't know that'd be like, can.
Trevon Edwards
We have a success. Can we have a successful radio show if you're not driving the show?
LaVar Arrington
Oh, God, no. No. I mean, come on.
Trevon Edwards
And you don't really know what it feels like until you don't have it. You know what I mean?
Brady Quinn
True.
Trevon Edwards
There you go.
Brady Quinn
That's true.
Trevon Edwards
I mean, if we won an award for best show, which I don't understand why Lee doesn't ever get us nominated for Best show award.
LaVar Arrington
Because they don't have those at the liquor store.
Trevon Edwards
I don't understand that. But would we win that award if it was just me and Brady? I don't know. Brady and I. I don't know.
Brady Quinn
I'm not going that direction. But I will. I will say this. You don't know, you know what you have until it's gone. There is definitely. Is that.
Trevon Edwards
There's, like, a pinky toe.
LaVar Arrington
Good song.
Trevon Edwards
Yeah. Or your big toe. I mean, that's prime. What? Too soon? It's too soon.
Brady Quinn
If we're talking amputations, probably as ball.
Trevon Edwards
Is it too soon? No. Is it too.
Brady Quinn
I would say so.
Trevon Edwards
I'm just saying. You say so, Johnson. I'm just saying, man, you don't know what you got until you don't have it. That's all I'm saying. And then you realize the Eagles are.
Brady Quinn
Maybe going to realize things when Kellen.
Trevon Edwards
Oh, yeah.
Brady Quinn
Moving on.
Trevon Edwards
Hell, yeah. But I think they already know that. They're going to feel that loss. 100.
LaVar Arrington
I'll be honest with Kellen. Moore is going to feel it when.
Trevon Edwards
He'S in New Orleans. I think you're right about that, too. Like, what the hell?
Brady Quinn
Both ways. Did the Eagles, by the way, back to Big Dom. Didn't they drop off during that suspension he served?
Trevon Edwards
Yes. That's when they fell apart. Yeah.
LaVar Arrington
Wow. That's fair. Okay.
Trevon Edwards
Sirianni was melting down on the sideline. He didn't have Big Dom to put his hand, that big hand on his shoulder and be like, calm down, Calm down.
Brady Quinn
And then when Lee doesn't have his Evan Williams, he kind of falls apart, too.
Trevon Edwards
Yes, he does.
Brady Quinn
Behind the scenes.
Trevon Edwards
Yes, he does.
Lee
That's very true. Yeah. Need to lube the wheels, you know?
Trevon Edwards
Did you lube your wheels last night?
Lee
Maybe a little bit.
Brady Quinn
It was Wednesday. Of course he did.
Trevon Edwards
Yeah.
Brady Quinn
Delivery Wednesday. Yesterday.
Trevon Edwards
Was it a delivery Wednesday?
Lee
He doesn't do deliveries anymore. But I did see Todd for a second.
Trevon Edwards
Yep. You saw him for a second.
Lee
Yeah, we had lunch together.
Trevon Edwards
Y'all had a quickie.
Lee
We had lunch together.
Trevon Edwards
Okay.
Brady Quinn
Did you have a gentleman's lunch, a few drinks?
Trevon Edwards
Yeah.
Lee
Yeah, absolutely.
LaVar Arrington
By the way.
Brady Quinn
Yeah, I did.
LaVar Arrington
For people. For people that just so they have an understanding how Lee's mind works. So he went to go get a Philly cheesesteak from someplace it apparently sucked, and they screwed up his order, and he sends over an update about his Philly, and I write back Are you drinking, though? And he goes, nah, I couldn't finish my tali. Wasn't feeling it. Did have two shots of tequila, though. So I was like, yeah, listen, I just want you to know I wasn't feeling like drinking other than those two shots of tequila, which is all the momentum you needed to go on a bender on a Wednesday.
Lee
Not true. Not true. I, I, I, I quit after that. I might have had one drink at, at the end of the night, but I, I quit after that.
Trevon Edwards
All right.
LaVar Arrington
Little nightcap.
Lee
Little nightcap.
LaVar Arrington
Big fan of the nightcap. We're a big fan of the Dan Patrick show here on Fox Sports Radio. And we're big fans of filling in for Dan and crew here. And we will be taking you all the way up until noon Eastern Time, 9:00 Pacific it is Levar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Kn. We are going to do something we do normally on our show called in case you missed it. We've also got some Lee's leftovers, all sorts of conversation, some shenanigans here as we take you all the way up again for the next three hours here on fsr. Coming up next here, though, we do have a little bit of a problem. Apparently there's a gig in the NFL that maybe nobody wants. We'll explain why, and that's yours here on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch the live edition.
Trevon Edwards
Of the Dan Patrick show, weekdays at 9am Eastern, 6am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. And the iHeartRadio app.

Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli is based on my co host Mark's best selling book of the same title. And on this show we call upon his years of research to help unpack the story behind the Godfather's birth. From start to finish, this is really.
Trevon Edwards
The first interview I've done in bed.
Jonas Knox
We sift through innumerable accounts. 35 pages isn't very much, many of them conflicting.
LaVar Arrington
That's nonsense.
Jonas Knox
There were 60 pages and try to get to the truth of what really happened.
Wells Fargo Announcer
And they said we're finished. This is over.
Trevon Edwards
It only is not going to work.

We talk sports, but we talk pop culture and music and a little bit of everything because we got lots to say. I texted you and you texted me back. Now I don't know if you have the update, but like all the little thumbs up and heart and stuff, like it's all colored. They changed it and the heart's a little pink. It felt like I told you I loved you. I'm going to be honest, it was a little pink.
Trevon Edwards
There was something sentimental. When you, when you send it, it's like, do I send the heart now?

Trevon Edwards
So.
LaVar Arrington
Oh, the NFL might have a problem, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Who says that? Well, apparently the NFL's concerned that the criticism of current NFL officials could reduce the supply of future NFL officials. And so maybe that's why they've been trying to be a little more. A little more strict with some of the critique from players and trying to find players for their open criticism, most notably the Texans following their playoff game against the Chiefs in which they felt like Patrick Mahomes got the benefit of the calls. If that's the case, I'm sure they probably weren't thrilled with what Troy Aikman had to say or what we had to say on our show following that. But nonetheless, at least there's the concern that the officiating supply could be damaged if people are too mean to these officials in the NFL. Which begs the question, who wants.
Brady Quinn
I would, I would begin by saying this, if the NFL is actually concerned or if there is an actual concern about the officiating at the NFL, let's just look at some things that the NFL is not willing to do or has not done to help out the officiating. For starters, how many officials are on the field for an NFL game? Can you guys answer that?
LaVar Arrington
Six.
Trevon Edwards
Eight.
Brady Quinn
Seven. Okay, seven. Do you know how many are on the field for a college football game at the Division 1 level?
Trevon Edwards
6.
Brady Quinn
Jonas?
Trevon Edwards
It's more, actually. It's more.
Brady Quinn
It's.
Trevon Edwards
It's 8. Oh, it's the same.
LaVar Arrington
So I got it.
Brady Quinn
It's not the same. Oh, it's almost more.
Trevon Edwards
One more. Yeah, yeah.
Brady Quinn
NFL is one less. Why do I bring that up?
Trevon Edwards
Why do you?
Brady Quinn
Because so oftentimes we look at calls that are made on the field because that is ultimately still what determines usually the outcome of a play, at least in regards to officiating, because we have an anointed replay with the. The ability to re officiate the play. Right? Every single time there's a call made and it's reviewed, we look and take into account what the call is on the field. And we have a process where it has to meet a certain burden of proof by our replay in order to then overturn that call or to make that call, right? That is the process by which this all works. My thing, and I've always said this, I've said this to Dean, I've said this to Mike, is I understand the job responsibilities within each at the NFL level as well as the college. I don't understand how one more official, one more set of eyes doesn't make the job easier on those other guys on the field. It doesn't give you one more person to have the perspective of what they saw, how they saw, and what actually happened to get the call right. If we're not willing to give up control to the replay booth. So that's the first issue. The NFL, for whatever reason, doesn't want to add one more official to help out with that group on the field to get calls. Right. The next issue is the. The. The replay in general. We have the technology, we have the ability. We can implement a better replay process that allows us to get more calls. Right? That allows us to call the game more consistently, which I think is the really the biggest issue. It's not so much that, you know, fans have a big issue with officiating. It's the fact that defensive pass interference in one game seems to differ to the next from one crew to Another from week to week, maybe even within crews and how they go about calling it or holding, for example. So all those inconsistencies add up. And I think all anyone's asking for, whether that's the coaches, the players, the fans, betters. I mean, everyone else out there just wants it to be consistent or as consistent as it can be in order to do so. If you have elements of replay that are involved, I think it gets us closer to that. So that's the other element that I think is still missing in all this. And the last thing I'll just say is, and I'll ask this question, you guys, outside of the players on the field, who is the next most important in a game?
Trevon Edwards
I mean, as it applies to what I'd say.
Brady Quinn
The officials. Yeah, I'd say over coaches outside.
Trevon Edwards
You think the officials are more important than the coaches.
Brady Quinn
They can make a call that drastically changes the game. Because here's what I'll say is this. If you get an awful play call, Right.
Trevon Edwards
Yeah.
Brady Quinn
Can you still overcome it as a player?
Trevon Edwards
Sure.
Brady Quinn
Can you luck out of it? Right.
Trevon Edwards
Sure.
Brady Quinn
If you get an off. If you make an awful call on a game, could it ultimately determine the outcome of that game?
LaVar Arrington
Sure.
Brady Quinn
Could it change the entire. And by the way, there's no coming back from that. If you. Like. Like here's. I guess what I'm saying is like.
Trevon Edwards
The New Orleans play.
Brady Quinn
Exactly.
Trevon Edwards
There's no coming back from that.
Brady Quinn
There's no coming back from that. And I guess what my point is you can do a poor job as a play caller and still luck out because you have superior talent. The other team fumbles, stumbles, what have you. Or you have a. You have a player who makes an adjustment even without you. Like, there's plenty of times where there's been a call that's come in audible. Let's get to another play. Let's get to a better play that that happens once you make that call as an official. I mean, yeah, there's a replay process. They can make up some of those mistakes. But as you're pointing out, and we've pointed out, there's some. That there's no replay process. We've got to stick with whatever was just called. So I would say next to the coaching staff, and it's close, you've got officials that ultimately determine or impact games second to the players. And yet we don't compensate them anywhere close to what we compensate coaches to what we compensate anyone else involved in the process.
Trevon Edwards
Do we know what they're compensated like they don't make their, their salaries readily available like they do players. Right. That's like obscure.
Brady Quinn
I'm sure you can look it up. We have an idea. But between. I guess the point is, I'm saying.
LaVar Arrington
205,000 and 250,000 a year, plus bonuses for postseason games.
Trevon Edwards
Okay. All right.
LaVar Arrington
According to this.
Trevon Edwards
Okay.
Brady Quinn
But we're not looking at them, though, with the importance that I think we should. And we're not compensating them for that either.
Trevon Edwards
These guys have their jobs. You think the results would be different if you paid them like players? Like, do you think that they would ref the games better or, or more efficiently if they were.
Brady Quinn
I think if they were, if they were there, if the entirety of all these crews, it was their full time job. That's the only thing they did. They didn't have other jobs. Yes, I think they'd be better.
Trevon Edwards
I don't think.
Brady Quinn
I think that goes, by the way.
Trevon Edwards
That's anything.
Brady Quinn
Yeah, that's anything like, like, that's like people who are trying to kind of, you know, work multiple jobs at once. It's hard to juggle it all. Like, you know that if you're listening out there and you're in that position or you've got a side hustle, there's a reason it's called a side hustle.
Trevon Edwards
Yeah.
Brady Quinn
And then there's a problem. And there's nothing wrong with that. Right. I'm not, I'm not condemning anyone for that. I'm just saying it's really, really hard to be great at multiple things at once. And ultimately you're going to kind of lend yourself to the thing that compensates you or affords your lifestyle the most. And so if you afforded these officials by and large the ability to not have to worry about having another job or building on whatever else they have and just, and just do this and be able to make money off that. Which again, people might say, I'm nuts for looking at paying these, you know, these folks a million bucks a year, whatever it is. This is the NFL. There's enough of you out there that gamble and spend your hard earned money on this and have calls that impact games or no calls that impact games because they miss it. And so you can't tell me that you wouldn't look at and say, yeah, actually I wouldn't mind the NFL paying these guys more and caring more because I don't want to get screwed out of some of the bets that I've been making.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, I just. And I think there's A reason why guys have opted to be like, yeah, I'll go do tv. Like, I don't. I don't need the aggravation. Cause it's already a thankless job. And we can complain about the calls all they want. What percentage of calls would you say an NFL official gets right per game? Like 95%, 98%.
Brady Quinn
98%.
LaVar Arrington
Like, but those, those missed calls are the ones that they're ultimately judged on, you know?
Trevon Edwards
Oh, my God. The hardest part about this, Jonas, and what you're saying is there could be. You could say there is multiple missed calls per play. Think about that.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, but there's also play. Yeah, but they are judged only on that. And so I don't blame them. Like the job, when you walk into a stadium, at best, only 50% of the place hates you.
Trevon Edwards
At best, the people that don't get the. I wouldn't even say 50% if you're the home team. The home team likes every call they get. Every call they don't get, you miss the call. So that's just the reality.
LaVar Arrington
You're always dealing with a split. But they're probably looking around going, dude, I don't need this aggravation. Like, what. I mean, yeah, what about all the other calls I get? Right? What about. And look, the minimum salary, I think, is 795,000. I don't know, minimum of an NFL player this year, I think it was 795. I don't know. I don't know. You pay him that much, but, you know, half a mil with all the money you're getting, you know, to take.
Trevon Edwards
Some of that from them bench warmers and give it to the rest.
LaVar Arrington
I mean, take some from the gambling companies. Like, how many people are losing their ass on picks? I mean, not me personally, but how many people are out there losing their ass on picks?
Trevon Edwards
I think that really raises the stakes of security and safety and confidence. Like, do you think these referees aren't thinking about, especially with a team like Philly, which you guys talked about the pies on passion, Are they really second guessing making a call that could possibly impact what they got going on in their sports?
LaVar Arrington
And knowing everything you, you know, about the criticism that comes along with it, the pay, etc. Would you guys ever want to be an official? Because I wouldn't.
Trevon Edwards
No. My back would hurt.
LaVar Arrington
I'm good.
Brady Quinn
I'll be honest with you. I mean, maybe for the gun show.
Trevon Edwards
You know, I mean, I mean, Brady would look good in a. No, you know, pause. No. You know, all the way, you know. No, I'm just saying, man. I'm just saying you look good in a restaurant uniform.
Brady Quinn
So they'd be like, who?
Trevon Edwards
The new AD Hockey league? You know what I mean? Yeah.
LaVar Arrington
By.
Trevon Edwards
By the way, every one of your calls would be showing you flexing. Oh, yeah, first that, it's.
Brady Quinn
Oh, yeah, first that, it's kind of like the. Like a hockey officiating. Like, you know, those dudes kind of have to be big because at times they'll have to pull guys.
Trevon Edwards
Yeah, yeah.
Brady Quinn
It's kind of like one of those things, too. Just absolutely get on the gas. Get absolutely to the gills.
LaVar Arrington
Do they. Do they test? Do officials, like, what happens if they piss high? Or did they get.
Trevon Edwards
I don't think they get tested.
Brady Quinn
I don't get drug tested, Joe. Why would they get drug tested?
LaVar Arrington
I don't know. Maybe they're trying to.
Trevon Edwards
You don't remember that one, that one referee video that went viral where the referee ran down to do running for the touchdown? Yeah. Like, what's. Like, hey, bro, ain't nobody. Like, man, that man is fast.
LaVar Arrington
Look at that referee. If you're. If you're an NFL official that's all piped up like, what's the. What's the best calls at timeout on the field? Like, the one where you got to point to your shoulders. Like, that's got to be the timeout on the field, I would say.
Trevon Edwards
Or if you say it's good, you know, I mean, you get the really flexible.
LaVar Arrington
Good. When Hockley would announce that it was a first down, like, like you could tell, okay, that guy's been working those tries.
Trevon Edwards
Or if they both got personal fouls and both teams got personal fouls, and you stick them off. Brady be out that bitch flexing, I guarantee you he'd be doing like 20, 30 push ups on TV timeouts.
Brady Quinn
I think ultimate. What you need is multiple infractions in one play.
Trevon Edwards
Yes.
Brady Quinn
Because that way you're gonna be in the spotlight for a little longer than like a five second call.
Trevon Edwards
You know, you got to make the explanation very clear.
Brady Quinn
For you to be able to point, you got to be able to point both ways. So they're offsetting like it's a birth. Both teams just show off both arms.
LaVar Arrington
That's good.
Brady Quinn
Just all biceps and quads. That'd be amazing.
Trevon Edwards
Then you throw up that first down, you give them that last little bit of, like, first down. Like, they be like, dang, like, forget the call. Like, look at the dude making the call. You know, who's like that My. My alum and fellow letterman Terry Killings. Look him up. That. It yoked.
LaVar Arrington
Terry Killings.
Trevon Edwards
You remember the one you're killing? You remember the one? The. The referee, when they got into like. I don't remember what game it was, but they got into a scuffle and it was a pile up. And then the referee came running over and start peeling them off like they were. Like. They were like you football players.
LaVar Arrington
I know that guy, man.
Trevon Edwards
That's a grown man out there calling them games. Now. I wouldn't tell him. He does look.
Brady Quinn
He does look like he could mess someone up. Oh, he doesn't look that jacked, though.
Trevon Edwards
Oh, he's jacked, bro. He. He is. He's pretty yoked up. Pretty yoked up dude. Yeah. Not like Brady Quinn, but he's.
Brady Quinn
No, I'm saying, like, he's pretty.
Trevon Edwards
Yo.
Brady Quinn
I think Hockley. And then who else? There's someone else, too.
LaVar Arrington
Hockley's son is now an official Sean.
Trevon Edwards
And he's not.
LaVar Arrington
He's jacked.
Trevon Edwards
But it ain't like his dad. It ain't quite like his dad. See, I think. I think the way Terry wears his sleeves, like when you're yoked up.
Brady Quinn
Yeah, the way you sleep, he wears the sleeves.
Trevon Edwards
The hot. He minimizes. The. The. The. The mammal in him. But that dude was a defensive end play. I mean, was a draft DNA linebacker. Both. Both like, you know, that hybrid, you know, the end linebacker.
Brady Quinn
But don't get me wrong, he's a big dude. Oh, I think he could take care of business.
Trevon Edwards
Oh, he ain't playing around. He just. He got the long sleeve on. He minimizes it. That's. That's why I see what you're saying.
LaVar Arrington
By the way, if you are an official out there, be on the gas. We're not judging. Like, there's no. No criticism at all here. Like, whatever's going to make you look better.
Trevon Edwards
The tattoos on the floor.
LaVar Arrington
I was just going to ask that. How many officials are tatted up?
Trevon Edwards
He got. He got the tats going on, man. Don't be messing with TK he be the body slam your ass. I said personal foul.

LaVar Arrington
And for that, we turn it over to our executive producer, Lee.
Lee
Good morning, everybody. Good morning, Jonas. Good morning, Brady. Good morning, lavar. Guys.
Trevon Edwards
Malfunction.
Lee
That's right. Guys, in case you missed this. Hey, Brady. Guys, in case you missed this wild story circulating online of allegedly a big fan of the Actually don't know if he's a chief fan or an Eagles fan. I assume an Eagles fan because of how the story goes that after a suit, after a touchdown, Jumbotron pants to the crowd and a man is seen kissing a woman. Problem with that, though, is this man was supposed to be at the game with his wife who gifted him the tickets.
Trevon Edwards
Oh.
Lee
For his birthday.
LaVar Arrington
Oh.
Lee
He came up with a story that his best friend from college wanted to go. So she said go for it.
Wells Fargo Announcer
It.
Lee
But when he was seen on the Jumbotron, his friend from college wasn't there. It was his female coworker.
Trevon Edwards
Well, hold on, hold on. Maybe that was his best friend from college.
Brady Quinn
Best friend from college is a girl.
Lee
And maybe they were celebrate touchdown and.
Trevon Edwards
Maybe they were happy about the touchdown and that's how they celebrate. It's an easy. That's an easy call.
LaVar Arrington
Why does his wife got to be so selfish? Like they're his tickets?
Trevon Edwards
You said, I'm taking my best friend from college.
Brady Quinn
Yeah, right. Lee, quick question. If I asked you, who's your best friend at work, who would you say at work?
Trevon Edwards
Truth. Truth.
Lee
Lorena.
Trevon Edwards
Okay, there you go. Which the truth is, Jonas. I mean, you would be kissing him on the Jumbotron if they could have.
Brady Quinn
Been in this situation. Like you could have been in the situation right now that we're talking about.
Lee
Yeah, I feel for the guy. Absolutely. Well, the wife did get revenge, though. She. She allegedly got into his email, his work email, and started sending very risque emails to his boss. Allegedly.
Trevon Edwards
I don't understand.
Brady Quinn
From his work email, though. It's from his account.
Lee
Yeah, that is from. Yeah, from his work email. From his account.
LaVar Arrington
Story sounds like a bunch of crap.
Lee
And so the boss says, what's this about? He says, oh, that was for my female co worker. So what? Enough to get him fired.
Trevon Edwards
So risque pictures of him she was sending to her boss of him, texts. What? I. I'm confused, Lee.
Lee
I know, it's kind of.
LaVar Arrington
Well, so she. She got into his email.
Trevon Edwards
Yes.
LaVar Arrington
And she sent risque. From his account.
Trevon Edwards
Right. And okay, so from his account, she was posting his email account? Yeah.
Brady Quinn
Why is she playing checkers? All right, like, here's the reality to that situation. So you're upset that he took some other chick to the game with tickets you got him, and so now you're trying to bruin his entire life.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah.
Brady Quinn
And I assume because they're married, right?
Trevon Edwards
You don't benefit from him.
Lee
She's got a divorce lawyer, so she's.
Brady Quinn
Going to get a divorce. Here's the whole entire issue with that. You blow up his entire job and career, how do you get any money from him?
Lee
No alimony there.
Trevon Edwards
Great.
Brady Quinn
Exactly.
Trevon Edwards
Oh, there's going to be alimony. But what is it? How much is it not going to be his money? He's. He's unemployed.
Brady Quinn
He's not playing the long game here.
Trevon Edwards
He is thinking about. I agree.
LaVar Arrington
I'm on his side. I'll tell you this right now. He's. He's the one who should be upset. How could you do this?
Trevon Edwards
I mean, if you're going to be at the super bowl with your co worker and kissing her and all that stuff, I hope you're playing up, ma'am.
LaVar Arrington
You ought to be ashamed of yourself. If you're listening to this, I hope.
Trevon Edwards
She'S like a VP or something big like, I lost my job. But that's okay. I was. I was kissing up.
LaVar Arrington
Way to ruin that guy's Valentine's Day. You got to be ashamed of yourself.
Trevon Edwards
You over here busting tables, getting me fired. But shorty, I was at the super bowl where she. Yeah, she makes six figures.
LaVar Arrington
I'm digging ditches, but I got a rocket ship now.
Trevon Edwards
We gonna lose this house, but I'm gonna move in with her. Where you gonna go?
LaVar Arrington
Disgusting behavior from that woman.
Trevon Edwards
Dang, you ain't played a long game.
LaVar Arrington
What else we got, Lee?
Lee
Guys we have numbers reported from Market Watch, a company that specializes in advertising and branding services. They say the amount of money that Taylor Swift has contributed to the NFL is north of $1 billion. In the first year, they say the date from September 2023 to January 2024, she generated 366 million. And in this last year, $635 million. This is all through the metric measures valued across all social media, tv, radio, digital, digital news, and print news.
Trevon Edwards
Now, how much of that do you think she generated for her? Like, how much did they cut her in on that?
Brady Quinn
Oh, I see. No, no, I. Seriously, you're trying to figure out, like, did she benefit? Yes. Who made more off it, the NFL or Taylor Swift?
Trevon Edwards
I'm certain she at the NFL made more than she did, but did she come up?
Brady Quinn
I would love to actually see what their formula is. Like, how do they equate value to someone's social media post that never had posted about it before? Because they're a Swifty. They're now posting about it. Like, is there actually a value to that? Is there a specific number? Like, what number are you attaching to that? Because some of that stuff tends to.
Trevon Edwards
Be a little bit.
Lee
It is a little. Yeah, it was. Is a little gray. One thing that I found that was interesting was that the numbers spiked most when he showed up to her concerts. That's when the Swifty fans would go and look up.
LaVar Arrington
Oh, take that.
Trevon Edwards
Cross promotion. I. I mean, that's classic way of. Of creating a buzz and awareness. Cross promoting introduced to a different. A different audience. By the way, pretty brilliant.
LaVar Arrington
She wore Kyle Uscheck's wife is a designer. She wore one of her items once and the entire company exploded.
Trevon Edwards
Blown up. Yeah, she's everywhere. Good for her.
Lee
Yeah, we saw her at the Super Bowl.
Trevon Edwards
Yeah, we did. Didn't even know it, but yeah, she was there.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah. If somebody sees Taylor Swift, like, get her like, no, you two pros. And I'm saying, like, we could benefit from it. Throw her a two pros and a cup of Joe.
Trevon Edwards
We would have to be in one of those time slots, like some of our other shows where they're able to get every last one of the celebrities that are marketing and promoting what they're marketing and promoting.
LaVar Arrington
Just. Just somebody. She. I think she likes to wear those little bracelets. Somebody make her a two pros and a cup of Joe bracelet and throw it at her and see if she'll put that on.
Trevon Edwards
I was on backstage and the big. One of the big names that came over To. To interview was like, yeah, we'll do you, but we have interview scheduled at 10:00. And he was looking at the stage like, they're going to go up onto the stage. I was like, no, no, no, you're going. We're going back here. Yeah, we're going to go record back here. I am. Your 10 o'clock. He was like, wait a second. Like, you're not on stage. Why are we, why are we doing this interview with you? You're not on the big stage. We're scheduled to go up there.
LaVar Arrington
Yeah, I mean, that's.
Trevon Edwards
There's that. I'm like, all right, you know, I won't tell you who was on stage. All I say is, is that you was good coming with me. Damn.
LaVar Arrington
Everybody.
Trevon Edwards
All right, no shade here. No shade. No shade.

The Dan Patrick Show – Hour 1: Promoting From Within & Endangered Refs Release Date: February 20, 2025
Hosts: LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox
In this episode, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, and Jonas Knox step in to fill the role of Dan Patrick, bringing their unique perspectives to the show. The discussion kicks off with light-hearted banter about the studio's kitchen setup and the absence of an espresso machine, setting a casual and engaging tone for the episode.
LaVar Arrington (03:15):
"But how the hell we feel in here on a Thursday morning?"
The primary focus of the episode centers on the Philadelphia Eagles' recent decision to promote Kevin Patullo to Offensive Coordinator (OC) from within their existing coaching staff. The hosts delve into the implications of this move, weighing the benefits and potential drawbacks based on past experiences.
Brady Quinn (10:07):
"Last time I hired from within Brian Johnson, it didn't quite work out."
Trevon Edwards (12:15):
"It's like messing up a fried chicken wing—you can't mess up where you're at right now."
The conversation highlights the positive culture and stability within the Eagles' organization, suggesting that promoting from within aligns with maintaining team chemistry and leveraging existing relationships. They discuss how internal promotions can reinforce trust and continuity, which are crucial for sustaining success after a Super Bowl victory.
Brady Quinn (13:30):
"They're coming off a Super Bowl... elevating him from a guy who's already a past game coordinator... you've got to trust that they're going to be ready for this."
Shifting gears, the hosts address the pressing issue of endangered referees in the NFL. They explore how increasing criticism from players and fans may be discouraging individuals from pursuing officiating careers. The discussion examines the NFL's reluctance to expand the number of officials on the field and improve compensation, which could enhance the quality and consistency of game calls.
Brady Quinn (26:29):
"The NFL doesn't want to add one more official to help out with that group on the field to get calls."
LaVar Arrington (31:26):
"They're a thankless job... What percentage of calls would you say an NFL official gets right per game? Like, 95%, 98%."
The hosts debate potential solutions, such as increasing the number of officials or enhancing the replay system to reduce errors. They also discuss the importance of fair compensation to attract and retain high-quality referees, emphasizing that better-paid officials would likely perform their roles more effectively and with greater dedication.
Brady Quinn (32:03):
"You have officials that ultimately determine or impact games... but we're not compensating them anywhere close to what we compensate coaches."
Continuing the topic of officiating, the conversation becomes more humorous as the hosts imagine scenarios where referees possess extraordinary physical prowess to handle on-field challenges. They jest about the physical demands of officiating and the perception of officials among fans and players.
Trevon Edwards (37:03):
"He'S in New Orleans. I think you're right about that, too. Like, what the hell?"
Brady Quinn (37:41):
"I think ultimate. What you need is multiple infractions in one play."
This segment underscores the need for respect and support for referees, highlighting how their decisions can significantly influence game outcomes. The hosts advocate for a more appreciative and structured approach to managing and valuing officials within the NFL.
As the episode nears its conclusion, the hosts briefly touch upon upcoming segments, including a segment on cheating in the Super Bowl and the significant financial impact of Taylor Swift's involvement with the NFL. They tease further discussions and encourage listeners to tune in for more insights and entertaining commentary.
