You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. It's hour one on this Tuesday. Dan and the Danets. Dan Patrick show my starting lineup. A guy who failed his driving test twice. The minister of humor.

That's where we're going.

Start the show.
Dan Patrick
I did not know that about you.
Todd Fritz
75 seconds in.
Dan Patrick
I know, but I did not know that. And you dropped that on me this morning and you were kind of recounting what happened and you blame the driving instructor.
Todd Fritz
Yeah, there was something about a K turn and then there was something about not stopping completely for the stop sign. Next thing I know, all my friends are celebrating passing it on their first time. But on that third one, I got my certificate. I was ready to roll.
Dan Patrick
Seaton's here, Marvin's here. Paula, yours truly and the back room guys as well. We'll talk to Reggie Miller a little bit later on the NBA talking about expansion. And it's no surprise this summer they'll talk about Seattle and Las Vegas. Mike Golic senior will join us. I'm going to ask him 15 years from now, what is the one thing we talk about Super Bowl 60. And I don't think it'll be about the football itself. I think it'll be about the halftime show.877.3DP show email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle @DP Show Stat of the day is always brought to you by the great folks at Panini America. Now@panini America.net we have a play of the day poll question. Stat of the day operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. Uh, those of you who thought that the Patriots were imposters because they had a really easy schedule to make it to the super bowl, well, you'll be happy to know New England schedule is out and it's not pretty. It'll be tough if they get back to the Super Bowl. Nobody's going to complain about this schedule. But keep in mind they had a last place schedule. They didn't choose their schedule. They had four wins. The NFL wants parody and they give you. They, I would say reward, if you want to use that word, is a schedule that's a little more user friendly, but that's how the league works. Style points irrelevant. Results are Everything. And the beauty of the NFL is there's always a reckoning there's going to be a new one next year or a couple. But New England has a first place schedule and there's no favors here, no shortcuts. They got the Bills, Lions, Seahawks, packers and Chargers. If they're for real, then they're going to prove it next year. But you start to look at the games that are on the road for the Patriots next year, they're at Buffalo, at Chicago, at Detroit, at Kansas City, at the Chargers, at the Dolphins, at the jets, at the Jags, at the Seahawks. This will not be easy. And this is a situation where you, you might even see New England not even make the playoffs next year. Sometimes that rise that fall is just as dramatic. All right, Seaton, poll question. I also have Seattle's schedule here. Now, it doesn't tell you which, which weeks, but it does say that they will be at Arizona, at Denver, at the Raiders, at the Rams, at the Eagles, at the Niners, at the Commanders, at the Panthers. So it doesn't stand out as, wow, that's going to be some tough sledding for the Patriots. Yes. Especially the road games. All righty. Poll question for hour one is going to be what, Seaton?
Matt Rogers
Plus you do have that sort of super bowl hangover effect. That is a, is a real thing. You lose the super bowl, you usually don't do as well the next year.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. And you wonder what the hangover is going to be. Sometimes we'll look at a team that wins the super bowl and talk about the hangover. I, I really think the hangover is for the Patriots because you got Drake May. I don't know if he's going to have surgery on his shoulder. You got an offensive line that needs short up and you got to get some skilled position players and you have a tougher schedule now, but you got a great head coach. And you know, the, the fluctuation. If I look at the quarterbacks who were taken when Drake May was taken and we talked about Jaden Daniels and Caleb Williams and Bo Nicks and Michael Penck and J.J. mcCarthy, they're like stocks because we're going, that guy is way up here. He's Nvidia. And then all of a sudden Jaden Daniels comes back to earth and then there's a little bit of Caleb Williams going up there. Hey, Bo Nix is doing something. Oh, J.J. mcCarthy got to play in a game. And then you had, you know, what was going on in New England with Drake May. And if I said let's redraft right now that class. If you were going to redraft that class. Caleb Williams going 1. Jaden Daniels, I don't know how healthy he's going to be. I don't know how healthy he's going to be throughout his career because of his size and the way he plays. Drake May almost won the mvp. Bo Nix stays healthy. I think he's playing in the Super Bowl. J.J. mcCarthy, jury's out. Michael Penix, it's going to be his team. Jury's still out. But if you said let's draft redraft, I'm probably taking Caleb Williams, but I'm taking Caleb Williams because I think that he has the right person. Ben Johnson, in his ear. Now, if you say I'm going to end up with Drake Mayer, Jaden Daniels or Bo Nix, okay, those are nice consolation prizes. But you start to look at this and we want to go, that guy's going to be great. So Jaden Daniels, maybe the greatest rookie season we've had for a quarterback. Caleb Williams up and down. Drake May, out of nowhere. Bo Nix, maybe the most experienced him and Jaden Daniels. J.J. mcCarthy, not a big fan. Michael Penix, I like the story, but I wouldn't have gone up in the draft to go get him. So you come down to probably four quarterbacks, and I don't know if it seems like a foregone conclusion, Drake May would be the guy because he came a couple votes away from winning the mvp. But after the super bowl and after the playoffs, I would say that stock has cooled down considerably. I would say it'd probably be Caleb Williams, definitely. Then Drake May, Jaden Daniels, BO Nix and J.J. mcCarthy and Michael Pennings. Good luck with that. Yes.
Matt Rogers
Weird. I feel exactly the same way. I don't really have a huge problem with that draft order still today, even if it played out exactly the same and Drake May goes third instead of second or. I totally get it. It's. It all still seems right to me.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Paulie.
Paulie
Yeah, it is weird, though, because if this were doing the show in August, it'd be Jaden Daniels and then there'd be a big drop to those other guys. Yeah, big drop.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. But it's weird to be the runner up for the MVP and having people question you going into next season. Usually it's, man, that guy's building on something. And I would say there's probably a lot more doubters than when the postseason started or even the Super Bowl. But that can fade away depending on what kind of season you have next year, but now you have a schedule that's far more demanding. And now we're going to find out maybe who Drake May is and who the Patriots are, at least in the short term. But they do have money. They have, you know, draft picks here. And once again, you got a great coach. The question is, you got to start to fill in some blanks here that were very, very wide open in the Super Bowl. But I do think we'll look back on this Super Bowl 15 years from now, and it won't be about one particular play, not about one particular person, unless it's about Drake May, because I think this will be about the uproar of the halftime show Bad bunny. I do. I think that's what it's going to be. Because the game was not transfixing. The game didn't give you something where, like, even today, normally the Tuesday after the super bowl, we talk about things that we didn't get to on Monday, but there isn't anything on Tuesday that we didn't get to on Monday. Yeah, Seaton.
Matt Rogers
So are you saying that in 10 years from now, the question will be who won the bad bunny Super Bowl?
Dan Patrick
Maybe it might be. Might be. But, you know, just so much attention to the halftime show, and it almost took away from the super bowl because we kept waiting for storylines when we were in San Francisco. It's like, what is the storyline here? You know, the big storyline became Tom Brady. He didn't have a dog in the fight. And all of a sudden, it's like, we spent two days on Tom Brady. You know, Drake May in the shoulder. Hey, I'm feeling great. See, that's one of those where it's tricky. It. And this is something the NFL does not want to talk about. And I talked to somebody yesterday at the NFL home office, and I said, you know, Drake May told everybody that his shoulder was fine. And he goes, I know where you're going with this. I said, hey, there's billions of dollars, Billions of dollars gambled on the super bowl legally and illegally. You got to make sure that we know exactly what's going on. You have to be transparent. Now you don't want to tell Seattle, hey, this shoulder is really bad, but you're in business, and you got to be transparent with those. Look how many, you know, people were. Were betting on the Patriots not knowing if. I mean, what if it comes out. Drake May as torn out a torn labrum or something, or, you know, something maybe not as serious, but you get shot up before the Super bowl and, you know, the person I spoke to at the home office said it's not going to be a topic of conversation. I said, okay, I'm just, I'm just bringing it up because it's billions of dollars that were bet. And I don't know if that hampered Drake May at all. But, you know, if you're saying your shoulder's fine and you're on the injury list, but then you keep telling everybody you feel great, I know you want to do that. But as a gambler, shouldn't we know as much as maybe the Seahawks know? Maybe they're not going to be that transparent. But I do think this is where we blur the lines with the amount of money that's gambled and it goes down a really, really dark rabbit hole here. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, one more thing I just found for you. You mentioned how do super bowl teams that lost do the following season? In the past 10 years, four of the 10 Super bowl losers did not make the playoffs. Historically, 68% Super bowl losers do make the playoffs the following season. So it's right on par there. About 60% in the past 10 years.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't.
Paulie
Make the playoffs the past two years. The Chiefs did not make the playoffs and the Niners the year before, they didn't make the playoffs after they lost.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, and there'll be three or four teams that come out of nowhere and there'll be three or four teams that disappear. Happens every single year. All righty. We'll come up with a poll question and we will get phone calls as well. 877-3DP show there was a. A brawl that broke out with the Pistons Hornets game last night. And this is how it sounded. JD on the dribble, hard back down on Diabate. And a whistle big on. Diabate is swinging boy. Diabate is. He's facing suspension here. There is no question about it. And now Bridges throws a punch.
Caller/Listener
Now Stu just came.
Dan Patrick
Oh, man, it's a donnybrook. There they go.
Todd Fritz
After review, fighting fouls have been assessed to the players, Diabate and Bridges from Charlotte and Duran and Stewart from Detroit. Those four players have been ejected from the game.
Dan Patrick
That's courtesy of the Pistons radio network. According to the NBA rule book, during fights or altercations, players who aren't subbed in must stay on the sidelines in the immediate vicinity of their bench. The league also stipulates that violators will be subject to an automatic one game suspension without pay and an additional fine of $50,000. Because punches were made, contact was made, suspensions will be happening for a couple of these players. I would do the following if I was the NBA, and maybe they do this. I don't know. I would show the Rudy Tom Jonovich punch that Kermit Washington nearly killed Rudy Tom Jonovich. And I would show that to every team at the start of the season just to remind them, you never worry about the person in front of you. It's the person to the side or behind you. And that's when you get some real damage done. You know, most basketball fights are kind of skirmishes, pushing, shoving, but when punches are thrown, man, I'd have no tolerance whatsoever. I'd sit you down for a week and I'd let you think about it. And I'd make you watch that Rudy Tomjanovich documentary every day just so you don't do something stupid and throw away your career. It's going to cost you a couple hundred thousand dollars. And I know you want to protect your teammates. Now. I don't know if I would have taken the Duncan Robinson route where he was kind of on the outside and he just kind of turned around and he just said, what are we doing here? You know, you can act like you're helping. You're. You're in. In the mix there a little bit. Yes, Marvin, you have to even.
Todd Fritz
All right, so I've been in a.
Dan Patrick

Todd Fritz

Dan Patrick
You have to try to break it up.
Todd Fritz
Like, come on, guys, let's not. Let's not do this.
Dan Patrick
Well, I don't know if that's how your voice is going to sound.
Paulie
Come on, fellows.
Dan Patrick
Hey, guys, come on. Stop it. I. Now, that old school basketball, that happened a lot. I don't want to go back to old school basketball to see that. I have no problem with an enforcer. You know, it's weird. Hockey. You fight and you go to the bench for five minutes and you're good. All right? You're gonna fight. You go over there. All right, now come on back out. NBA. That ain't the case. And I go back to that San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns was that conference final. And that's when I went toe to toe with Commissioner Stern because you had some guys from the Phoenix Suns trying to protect Steve Nash when he got, you know, banged into the scorers table and you had Amari Stoudemire and some players go off the bench that cost Phoenix Suns chance to go to the NBA Finals. You got to do it. You got to protect the integrity of the game, the players. But when you start throwing haymakers here, man, I never would ever worry about the guy in front of me. It's the guy that I don't see. And that's, that's when things happen. That's when things go south. All right. Michael Senior in an hour. Reggie Miller a little bit later on as well. Kansas drops number one Arizona and that was without Kansas best player Darren Patterson, who wasn't playing by all accounts feels like NBA scouts still think he is the number one player in America, but he's been in and out of the lineup, had flu like symptoms. But at Fog Allen and if you ever get a chance to have that atmosphere, as I went there and saw Jason kidding Cal play, I flew out on my own dime because I wanted to see a game at Fog Allen and it did not disappoint. That was great, great atmosphere. Going to take a break here. We'll come back with your phone calls, settle on our poll question back after this. The passhole Todd Fritz had two failed attempts to pass a driver's test?
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Caller/Listener
Go figure.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Todd, would you like to explain that you failed to driving tests?
Todd Fritz
The first one, I believe I didn't do well with the K turn. The tire may have hit the curb at some point. And the second one, I didn't come to a complete stop. I didn't stop long enough at a stop sign and that's what pretty much did me in there.
Dan Patrick
How jittery were you when you got in the car? Very. Adjusting mirrors.
Todd Fritz
I was like over doing my seatbelt and mirrors and stuff, trying to overcompensate for my lack of driving ability to show how careful and safe I was. But then you once you have to actually start driving, that doesn't matter what.
Dan Patrick
You did before the car starts moving, you know. Full disclosure, I failed the the written test. Failed the written test. I would say that the written test probably is a little more embarrassing. Feels like, you know, you should be able to pass that driving. You kind of know what's expected. I didn't know what the questions were going to be. In fact, one of my friends went like the week before. So then he downloaded me on all the questions and the answers and it was a completely different test. Yeah. So that's where you come outside, your mom's picking you up, and she goes, do you want to drive? I go, I can't. I said, I failed the driving, the written test. She goes, oh, Danny, you did not. I go, oh, I did, Mom. So I had to wait a little while. Yeah.
Paulie
Paul Dan is a first time passer. This is all new to me. But how long do you guys have to wait before you take your next one? Do you remember?
Dan Patrick
Felt like an eternity because everybody's waiting to congratulate you that you have your license. And then I didn't have my license and I had to go back humbly take it again. In fact, the, the woman who was there said, back again, huh?
Paulie
Oh, no.
Dan Patrick
I said, yes, yes, I am back again. Lucas in Texas. Hi, Luke. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, Dan, Good morning. Good morning. Apologies for hitting the hard and heavy trivia yesterday morning. I'll learn my lesson for next Super Bowl. But I wanted your, I wanted your opinion on the Olympics of the Olympics coverage because very quickly our family has turned into a curling household. We've loved watching the matches. It's been a lot of fun and it just kind of makes me reflect. And this is where I want your inside baseball on the process that NBC, I think they're just the best at covering sports overall that they do to put together a play by play and a color analyst team to where people can watch a sport that they rarely if ever watch and within a match or two, feel like they know all enough to be vested and want to watch more. How does that process work? Why does it seem like especially our Olympics coverage, it's so good that people get hooked so, so quickly.
Dan Patrick
This started with Dick Ebersol, former president of NBC Sports. And I got the good fortune of working Olympics in Super bowl under his guidance. He wanted the Olympics to be for your mother, your daughters, your grandmother, your girlfriend. And he thought if I can get the Olympics geared towards them, that they understand it. That's where you get the big audience. You know that men are going to watch sports. You want to get women to feel like, hey, I can understand what this is, or you're going to Teach me what this is. And if you watch curling. And I did a Wisconsin Stevens Point, I went there when the US Team was qualifying. And this is many, many years ago. And I went up there, and I was fascinated by it, just because, I mean, it. It's their life. It's professional. This is what they want to do. They grow up wanting to do this, and it's extremely difficult. It looks like it's fun, and you just have a broom, and you're just going, hey, and where's this rock going? But to see people who have dedicated their lives to do it's no different than any other sport. It's just. We look at it as, hey, have a couple of beers and you're having fun. I still. I haven't been at many Olympic qualifiers where there was a keg that was outside. So that'll give you an idea of, like, man, I could get used to this sport. But I think that's the beauty of what NBC does. It could be cycling, it could be snowboarding, it could be any of those sports, because for the most part, we only care about the Winter Olympic sports at the Winter Olympics. Now, you do have skiing, you have snowboarding. I mean, you have hockey. You have other things involved in this, but there are a lot of sports. Skeleton. Like, who thought up skeleton? Hey, you're gonna go down in a sled, but you can't see where you're going. And you're gonna go, I don't know, 80 miles an hour on a track. You gotta wear this suit. Yeah, I'll sign up for it. Like, there's certain sports where you go, how'd they come up with this? But they do. And NBC presents it in such a. It's like a tutorial. It's never to talk above you. It's to talk to you, to have you understand. And. And it's not dumbing it down as much as it is just reminding people that you. You know, that you work with. You have to explain it sometimes. And there's nothing wrong with that, because then you bring in the audience, then they understand. They understand the scoring. They understand, oh, look out for this person or that history with this person. But that goes back to Dick Ebersol. He was a genius at understanding that. That's why women's gymnastics or figure skating, front and center, prime time every night. Why he programmed for your mother, your daughters, your wife, your girlfriend, your grandmother. And that's where you get a huge audience, as opposed to, guys are going to watch. Mike Tirico went from the super bowl, took a private plane to Italy, got off the plane, and then he started hosting the Olympics last night. So pretty, pretty good 24 hours there for Mike Tirico going from calling the super bowl to then doing the Olympics.
Paulie
Yeah, Paul, I was watching a lot yesterday, and one thing NBC does before each sport starts, they give a quick. It's got to be less than a 45 second tutorial. The rules, the very basics that you have to know. So when you enter watching it, you're like, oh, I get it really quickly. I love, I'm looking up. Luge was first. Luge is when you're laying on your back. I was watching a lot of that and some crazy loser said, I'm going to go head first. And that's basically where skeleton came from.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, but skeleton's not head first.
Paulie
Skeleton isn't that, which is the one.
Dan Patrick
Luge is where you luge is feet.
Paulie
First, laying down, and then skeleton is reversed.
Dan Patrick
Well, I don't. You're not laying down and lose your, your tucked down. You're seated.
Paulie
That. That's bob sled.
Matt Rogers
That's bobsled.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Lucia's.
Matt Rogers
You're laying on your back and you control it with your loose.
Paulie
You're on your back, feet first.
Dan Patrick
But then skeleton is on your back.
Paulie
Or on your stomach.
Matt Rogers
Skeleton's on your stomach, face first.
Paulie
Those guys are crazy, man.
Dan Patrick
And I actually covered a couple of Winter Olympics. So skeleton, you're on your. You're on your chest.
Paulie
Yeah. Face first, Luge is on your back. Bob sled could be either two man or four man.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie
Two men, women as well. And I think Herschel Walker did bobsleigh.
Dan Patrick
Yes, he did. Yes, he did. I don't know if he meddled, but remember Herschel said, I'm gonna do bobsledding.
Todd Fritz
Yes, Todd, I want to get into curling. But as soon as they whip that, that broom sweeping thing, I'm like, I'm done. Moving on to another sport.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it and the rock. I mean, just like sliding is really difficult and being able to release it and then aim and then you get the brooms involved in it. And it is, it's something to see in person. And I love that they get, you know, dressed up. They, they embrace it. But still you're in the Olympics. I mean, you're their opening ceremony. I mean, you're, you're an Olympian. And I know that we tend to look at that as somebody got drunk and created this, you know, out on a lake, and they go, you know what? How about we get a Rock here and then we get brooms. Come on, Tommy. No, no, let's try it. Next thing you know, it's an Olympic sport. Yeah.
Paulie
Paulie, the curling's on right now, and the guys and the girls who are doing it, the person who throws the rock, I hope that's correct. Don't want that fan base mad at me. They're wearing, like, joggers and, like, zip ups, and they just smoothly go across the ice with their flat shoes.
Dan Patrick
And I love that they yell like. I don't. They're yelling, you know, whatever their code words are. But it's interesting to see and it feels like curling is always on with the Olympics. Can't go wrong. People watch curling because it takes a little while for, you know, each match to play out. Yes.
Todd Fritz
Todd, is any minimal trash talking allowed in the Olympics, or is it that one of those things that's a complete. No, no. They'll kick you out of the Olympics if you look or say something derogatory towards your opponent.
Dan Patrick
In curling, in any sport, I just.
Todd Fritz
As there's something that Olympics is held to a certain regard where, you know, you can't do anything that would be considered, you know, derogatory or trash talking to an opponent from another country.
Dan Patrick
Well, if it's a team event, yes. Individually, probably difficult to talk trash unless that person's right there with you, competing with you. But for the most part, when you head down the mountain, you're the only person in the gate. But if it's like, USA Hockey. Yeah. I'm sure there's quite a bit of trash talking, Eric. And that's our Olympic update here. I left the super bowl was in New York, and we did the beach bowl, and that was a Saturday for DirecTV. And I remember I had to get on a plane in Newark airport, and we were going to Russia for the Olympics. And I. I just remember I had all my bags packed, and Paulie was like, hey, got your phone? Yeah. Got your wallet? Yeah. Got your passport? Yeah. Where is it? Okay. It's over there. Grabbing my bags, getting in a car, going to the airport, getting on a plane, and then you wake up and you're in Sochi. Never again. I'll never get back to Sochi again. No. And I'll be happy that I don't get back to Sochi.
Paulie
There had to be some.
Dan Patrick
No, no, no, no. I came up with some mysterious illness. They didn't know. They joked about asbestos. And I went, I. I'm at your mercy. Had some doctor from Russia there helping me. I don't know what was going on. Bob had pink eye. I mean, it was. Oh, yeah, it was a mess.
Paulie
They should have given him the. They probably gave him the Emmy right there with the pink eye.
Dan Patrick
I tried to get pink eye so I could win an Emmy.
Todd Fritz
It's a little desperate.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Todd. But I just remember I would be in my hotel, we'd get picked up. We'd go to the Olympic broadcasting headquarters. I'd spend nine hours there, get in a van, come back to the hotel, go to the hotel bar, and then repeat. Next day, same thing. But Sochi was. They propped up a fake city. So they. Like, you know, in Hollywood they would have buildings, and there's nothing behind the buildings. It's just a facade that they painted to make it look like they did that in this area to make it seem like, oh, this is really quaint. And what it was is just these structures that were built with nothing behind. There was no building. It was just these big wooden things that they paint. I mean, they look beautiful. And I thought, wow, they created this little city. And then all of a sudden my friend goes, look behind. And I go, oh, my God, there's nothing here. It was a. Like a fake western town. Yes, Todd.
Todd Fritz
So you're saying it was Fauci. Oh, boy, I really thought you'd like that one. A fake Sochi would be a Fauci.
Dan Patrick
No, Eric in Pennsylvania. Hi, Eric.
Caller/Listener
How you doing, folks? Everybody, I just wanted to give you a driver's license fail from my years in early 70s. I passed the test, passed all the written stuff. Sitting in the car with the cop, he says one final thing, which handy, hold your ice cream cone in. And I thought about it for a second, gave him an answer and failed on the spot. So I think of Todd when I think about stuff like that. Thanks, guys.
Dan Patrick
Wait a minute, Eric, they gave you a trick question?
Caller/Listener
Yeah, it was a trick question. He says, I mean, I don't know why that brought it on me, but he said, I thought about it for a second, thinking, well, I had a four speed, so I thought left, left is the way to go. So left hand, because I. So I could shift. And that was it.
Dan Patrick
All right, thank you.
Todd Fritz
Or yes, I would have said, I'm lactose intolerant. I don't have ice cream. I hold a turkey sandwich in my right hand while I'm driving.
Dan Patrick
Mike in Oregon. Hi, Mike. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Oh, hey, Dan. First time, long time. Six, two, 200. Hey, you know, speaking about curling, I think you ought to use that when you. When you get questions about parenting, because curling is the perfect analogy. You know, you go through all the gyrations to let that thing go, but then after that, you can clear the path and sweep and sweep, but you can't touch the damn thing.
Dan Patrick
Thank you, Mike. Got a little deep there with parenting and curling. I didn't think that that was going to happen today. John in Illinois. Hi, John.
Caller/Listener
Hey, Dan. 63265. Just so you know, curling is one of the greatest sports in Winter Olympics. You're great in everything else you do, but you need to stay in your lane when it comes to curling, and you don't need to run your mouth about curling. One of the greatest sports in winter.
Dan Patrick
Wait, wait, wait, John. I'm not trashing curling.
Caller/Listener
Just so you know. I'm just letting you know.
Dan Patrick
Well, I'm letting you know, John, I'm not trashing curling.
Paulie
There is no show, honestly, that's more pro curling than us. We had Jon Shuster on the. The Legend back in the last Olympics.
Dan Patrick
Yes.
Matt Rogers
John Gatekeeping, Curling. Right now.
Dan Patrick
I don't know.
Matt Rogers
Feels like.
Dan Patrick
I don't know. Feels like coming after me a little bit there. I covered curling. Yes, Todd, that was a little much.
Todd Fritz
Run your mouth. That's a kind of a strong phrase. I don't think anybody said anything that was ripping curling to get such a reaction.
Dan Patrick
Like, I don't want to mess with the curling community. Okay. I'm being very respectful. I. I was entertained by it. I enjoyed it. I encourage people to watch it.
Matt Rogers
Once you sit in your car and cry about it, John.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Why don't you listen to Green Day in your car, John?
Caller/Listener
Yeah.
Matt Rogers
Why don't you cry about it?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Yes.
Todd Fritz
Marvin, I think that's the same John.
Dan Patrick
That told you to stay in your.
Todd Fritz
Lane about Green Day.
Dan Patrick
Really? I believe so.
Paulie
Call back.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Stay in your lane, John. He'll be known as. Yes.
Todd Fritz
This guy's just got deeper anger issues. It's not even about whatever we're even talking about. I think coming after you.
Dan Patrick
I think he's just. He's got a problem with me. That must be what it is. All right. Gonna take a break.
Todd Fritz
Curling is silly, though. But anyway.
Dan Patrick
Good grief. Stay in my life.
Matt Rogers
I'm just saying.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. All right, dude. And calm that down. It's curling. Calm down, guys.
Todd Fritz
Running your mouth about curly. I'm not gonna say sit here and listen to that. One of the great American sports, huh?
Dan Patrick
You know, damn this Super Bowl. If we had some things to talk about. We'd be talking about that instead of curling. Take a break. Our play of the day is up next. Just saying. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows@foxsportsradio.com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live. Oh, my God. The play of the day. Check this out. Melvin in trouble with a double team trap. Steps through, puts up a floater.
Caller/Listener
It rattles in Melbourne Council with what could be A dagger. With 52 seconds to play, the Jayhawks lead by six. Timeout. Arizona and the field house packed to the gills.
Dan Patrick
RA roaring to the rooftops.
Caller/Listener
A 10 out of 10 here tonight.
Dan Patrick
That's courtesy of the Jayhawks radio network. Kansas has won eight in a row, four of them against ranked teams, including number one Arizona and then number two, Iowa State. Play of the day brought to you by rk zero proof, the world's first zero proof spirits. The patented warm molecules, same feel, zero alcohol, all the cheers, none of the regrets. You can try it@rk0proof.com just had a caller, John in Illinois. He was basically telling me to stay in my lane when it comes to curling. And then Marvin goes, I think that's the same John in Illinois who told you to stay in your lane when it came to Green Day. John in Illinois joins us. Hi, John. What do you have for me today?
Caller/Listener
63265. Just so you know, Green Day is a first ballot hall of famer. Stay in your lane in sports. You're great in sports, but stay in your lane. You don't need to run your mouth about Green Day. Longest touring punk rock band in American history. That alone sets them up. And if you listen to their music from the beginning to now, it's evolved into something great. Thanks, Dan.
Dan Patrick
I love the. That's John in Illinois. That was November of 2019. And I, of course, quickly made my way to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame so I could see the Green Day exhibit to absorb the magic, the magnificence of Green Day. And they, of course, performed at the super bowl. And Billy Joe and company, they sounded great. And his hair looked great as well. Yes.
Matt Rogers
Too bad, too, because you used to be great at sports, apparently, though now not quite as much as he used to be because you used to have to. Yeah, look, you're great in sports. Stay in your lane about music though. But now curling is slowly chipping away. You're not great at sports anymore.
Dan Patrick
That's why I'm retiring. Yeah. That is John in Illinois. That's why I'm going to retire. Not good in music. Not good.
Matt Rogers
Less good in sports.
Dan Patrick
Less. That's better. Yes.
Paulie
Paul, Serious question, Dan, which fan base are you more concerned about, the Green Day or the curling fan base?
Dan Patrick
Curling.
Todd Fritz
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, because I'm in sports.
Paulie
You want me to hire security?
Dan Patrick
No, no, I think we're good. John did say he loved the show. I think at the very end. Yes, Todd, but you can also say.
Todd Fritz
I disagree with you. I don't appreciate your point on that. Run your mouth for some reason, that just sounds like another level of unnecessary harshness.
Dan Patrick
Feels like there might have been more trash talking there than in that basketball fight last night.
Matt Rogers
It feels like you're getting the shrapnel of it. Sounds like John in Illinois has been made fun of a lot for curling. And he heard you say, like, hey, a lot of curling on that.
Dan Patrick
Shut up.
Matt Rogers
Don't even start, you two. You're like, dude, I just said, like, there's a lot of curling on.
Dan Patrick
Did. Did he hear anything after that when I brought up curling? And how did somebody come up with. Don't you say it. Running. I was running my mouth. Yes, John. I get paid to do that every single day for three hours.
Todd Fritz
Just so you know. He likes that. He likes to start with just so you know.
Dan Patrick
Shut your mouth.
Matt Rogers
If you knew it was good for you.
Dan Patrick
John in Illinois, I learned my lesson with Green Day. I did. You know, all of a sudden, I'm well versed in green. Gabby, you're good at the other stuff. Okay.
Matt Rogers
But just.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Caller/Listener
What?
Todd Fritz
You just.
Dan Patrick
I didn't think. I didn't think the show was going to start out this way today. I really didn't. Tony in California. Hi, Tony. What's on your mind today?
Caller/Listener
Hey, guys. Good morning. So it's a miracle, man. All my teams are on a heater. The Clippers are the hottest team. LSU is definitely going to win a championship, but more importantly, my wife's from Haiti. And Haiti got two representatives in the Winter Olympics, which is cool, but they won the award for best uniforms. And these are the most beautiful uniforms I've ever seen, ever.
Dan Patrick
Okay. Yeah.
Caller/Listener
And we. And we qualified for the World cup for the first time since the 70s. I'll be there in Boston. I'll be up in your neck in the woods.
Dan Patrick
All right, well, thank you, Tony. Paulie will pull up the Haiti uniforms there. Of course, Scotty in Florida. Hi, Scotty. What's on your mind?
Caller/Listener
Hey, dan. Second time. 5, 6, and a Guinness Scout 160. Bar Room shuffleboard.
Dan Patrick
Oh, we're losing you, Scotty. Brad in North Carolina. Hi, Brad.
Caller/Listener
Morning, Dan. You know, one of the reasons why this super bowl is going to be so hard to remember is because it really came down to the lines and I actually was amazed. I saw two sacks on Drake May where not only was Drake May sacked, but the offensive lineman was sacked at the same time. And it reminded me of when Mark Sanchez, who he's the one that we all joke about was with the butt fumble. But Vince Wolfort literally lifted up that lineman and put him in Sanchez path. And that's like for Fritzi sake, he. Vince will fork. Lift it.
Dan Patrick
Nice. Thank you, Brad. Andrew in Washington's back. Hi, Andrew.
Caller/Listener
Good morning, Dan. Dan, it's. Yeah, Dan, I, I tune in to hear you run your mouth for three hours. I don't tune in for John in Illinois to come on once in a while and tell you not to run your mouth. You can say whatever you'd like. You get paid to do it. You're correct. Hey, I was just talking about NCAA basketball. I think they had good bookends to the, to the super bowl where you had Duke of North Carolina coming down to the last shot on Saturday. You have Kansas and Arizona last night. That was an excellent game. Arizona, Arizona. They were up by 11. They lost. It was on the road. But they're the number one ranked team. Kansas was only ranked ninth. It's the first win against the number one team in Allen field house for the Kansas Jayhawks. I was surprised at that. But it was a coming out party for Flori Bedinga without Kansas having one of the best players in the country, Darren Peterson, Florida. Bedinga had 23 and 10, but really he was the energy changer late in that second half. So I just wanted to see how do you think that the NCAA as far as the college basketball is going to be this year, are we going to see more games like this or is it going to just be the blue bloods rising to the top again?
Dan Patrick
I have no idea. I don't. I mean, super bowl just ended and plenty of time to download on this. Oh, Paulie just sent me the Haiti uniform. Those are gorgeous. That looks like you're going to a, like a, a ball, a dance or something. Those are gorgeous.
Paulie
Dang.
Dan Patrick
Do we have results from the first hour Seaton poll question.
Matt Rogers
We do.
Dan Patrick
You can get those. Oh, after the break. Oh my goodness.
Matt Rogers
Oh, my goodness.
Dan Patrick
Yeah. Mike Golick senior is going to join us. Reggie Aloysius Miller Jr. III will stop by as well. And more pleasant phone calls coming up as well. One hour in the books. Minister of humor, failed his driving test twice. Also, Seton, Marv, Paulie, yours truly. Hour two on the way.
