The American west with Dan Flores is the latest show from the Meat Eater Podcast Network. So join me starting Tuesday, May 6th where we'll delve into stories of the west and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which we experience the region today. Listen to the American west with Dan Flores on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I know a lot of cops. They get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. This is Absolute Season 1 Taser Incorporated. I get right back there and it's bad. Listen to Absolute Season 1 Taser incorporated on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. Welcome to the program. Gang's all here, ready to go. What is that? Every day. Don't do it. Don't do it. Come on, Dan, don't do that. Short on sleep, low on morale. You know, I. I have to. I have to be honest with the audience as I always am. And I have to be honest with myself because that's where it starts. Be honest with yourself first. I think we're just in the hall of Very good with this show. I just. It's official. Yeah, I think we're just. We're just a very good show. We lost. Well, we didn't win last night. NFL live from the mothership one NFL live with 350 people working on that show and live is assumed. Yeah, we come in, we have total of 13 people work on this show. And. And to make it even worse, it was the last category of the night. That was tough. That sucked. The last category that I. There's a woman who started the vacuum cleaner before we even got the announcement. It's like this, is this going on a long time? We gotta win. We gotta salvage this because we have two and a half hours back. And that was even, even more painful than losing is to be on the bus for two and a half hours in traffic late at night and Fritzi doing his stand up routine. Oh, my God, please don't. I, I'm not exaggerating. Please, let's not do that again. I'm not exaggerating this. My wife turned to me and she said, does he ever shut up? And I go, no, you entertain the troops. I will say that we didn't ask to be entertained. He entertained himself. He did, for sure. I don't think anybody responded to you. But that didn't stop Todd from talking to himself. And he was singing songs and he was a DJ at one point. Then he was doing stand up. And I just thought, you know, we, we had a crushing Loss. We just lost. And sometimes it's okay if we just sit and just think about our lives and our careers, what could have been. And then Todd made it even worse. But, you know, we got to see a lot of people, and it was fun going down. Although we're about, I don't know, 40 minutes away from the venue, and, you know, the back room guys are drinking like they're on scholarship, like around spring break. And I'm saying, hey, there's no bathroom on this party bus. Next thing I know, Tyler, who answers the phones, goes, I, I, I got to get off the bus. I go, what's wrong? So we're over by Yankee Stadium. There's no place to pull over. Stuck in traffic. Yes. And then Tyler goes, I, I got to get off. I think something's going to explode. And I go, what are you talking about? He goes, I have to go to the bathroom. He goes, I'll take an Uber. I said, you're not getting an Uber in rush hour traffic. So I got him. And then a couple more backroom guys, they're getting off the bus and then taking a whiz. Tyler runs a quarter of a mile to be under a bridge. He goes, I'm. I'm shy. And I go, okay. So we finally. I get back, everybody back in. We get to the venue, and then, you know, Fritz, he's going after the. The pigs in a blanket. Then he spills his soda all over him. Then he's wondering how he gets his stain out. We're there at cocktail hour time. We want to get a picture on the red carpet, all of us. They wouldn't let us get a picture on the red carpet. And I'm thinking, this is. This doesn't bode well. I even said to the person, I said, I'm nominated. Yeah. Red carpets closed. I go, okay, so we were the last category. Congratulations to NFL life. Round of applause. Yeah. Our buddies. Okay. Now, I thought there was going to be a big payoff because David Hill, who was a genius behind Fox Sports and a couple other networks around the world, he was being honored. It was a. A lifetime achievement. And I, of course, have told the story of Creamer. When I met with him back in the mid-90s, I met with him in Scottsdale, Arizona. Super bowl was there. Steelers, Cowboys, and he is interviewing me to host Fox's pregame show, had met with some of the other people who worked on the show. They signed off on it. I'm meeting with David. He wanted to meet with me. So I'm There talking to him. And then he gets up after it's done, he goes, two woods for you. He's Aussie. Cream rinse. Your hair. It's too poofy. So I thought, okay. Carissa Thompson's announcing the winner of our category. Friend of the show. I got David Hill, who called, you know, said, cream rinse. It's all lining up here. This is going to be our night. Well, Carissa announces NFL Live. And then all of a sudden, I see David Hill after the event. And I walk up to him and I go, I got two words for you. Cream rinse. And he looks up from his phone, he goes, I know you. And I said, I said, yeah, you were gonna hire me, you know, for the Fox pregame show. We met in the mid-90s in Arizona. And he goes, don't remember that. And I go, no, no, no, no. Cream rinse. Remember? You made fun of my hair. And he goes, your, Your hair looks good. I go, I said, creamer it. I. So now I've completely embarrassed myself. And he goes, well, we did talk to Bob Costas. I said, of course I did. All that means yeah. I go, oh, my God. So then my wife goes, how did it go? I said, horrible, horrible. He didn't get the joke. I said, he doesn't even remember meeting with me. Did he know who you were? I think. And then I got Mario taking pictures of me walking up to him. And then Fritzi walks up to him. For some reason, just say hello. And then we got on the bus, and then we went home. And then we're stuck in traffic. It usually takes less than two hours. I think it was two and a half hours. People trying to sleep. Todd's entertaining, standing up, singing. The whole thing. I had. It was this weird thing where, like, I kind of fell asleep, but I was, like, in and out of sleep, and I couldn't tell if I was having these nightmares of. Todd was like, what he was really saying where he car is $1.3 million. I'm like, what the hell is this guy talking about? Dude, what the hell? Am I dreaming this or is this really happening? We had. We had a fun night. There are a lot of laughs. We did. The ceremony was so long. I said, guys, I. We gotta go to a pub. I mean, we. I, I, I. I just can't sit there. So. And look, that's not professional. But I was like, I. I can't sit here for two and a half hours. I gotta walk around, which I normally do every time, every ceremony. I walk around, and I just say, hey, text me. We were the 59th award handed out. That's the most important award. There's no 60. Just saying the credits roll after us. But it's like right after they give out best pictures, the most important award of the night. That's where ours was. Yeah. Yeah. That's why they wouldn't tell us. We asked them, I said, where. Where are we in the order? We don't. We don't know. I said, you have to. You have to do the programs. Then Paulie asked, Mario asked. I just like, man, why can't we find out? And then I realized we're the last award. Yes. You know, it's just the best, though. Our audience reacting to us losing. Our audience reacting to us losing every time. Because if you, like, you can go on social media and there will be people like, you know, the sports Emmys will post, you know, best graphic design was ESPN college football, whatever, right? And it'll maybe have like one. Like, maybe. Maybe if you go then through all of these things, it'll be like one, like maybe a comment and a like or two, all this stuff. And then all of a sudden there's this one category that has 157 comments and like a million things. And out of that 157 comments, 156 of them are, you guys got screwed. You guys got this wrong. A million other expletives being thrown at the sports semi, people. Yeah, we did have somebody on social media saying, I think you guys are in the hall of very good. That's an elite comment. And I said, you're. You're absolutely right. Someone else also pointed out that we've lost in the finals just as many times as LeBron now. So that's pretty good. That's good company to be in. Okay. I saw Scott Van Pelt, and Van Peasy has not won a sports Emmy. So he was. He's been up eight times, and he lost. And then there was last night. And all of a sudden, we're driving home in our party bus. Not much partying going on. Van Pelt sends me a text that goes 0 for 9. And that was it. God, 0 for 9. Good grief. I know. You know, that year of the. I think it was the year that was Covid. Yeah, man. He probably really should have won. Oh, absolutely. They did great things that year. Absolutely. Absolutely. And we saw Richard Sherman, former Seattle Seahawk. Fritzi, of course, does his Richard Sherman impersonation. Who is talking about you? Crabtree. So. So he does His Aaron Andrews impersonation. And so I see Richard sherman, and he walks by, and he said, hey, just want to say hello. He said, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Todd. Fritzi, Fritzi, come here, come here, come here. And fritz, he walks over. I go to Richard sherman. I said, fritz, he does a great impersonation. And you can see Richard sherman going, where are we going with this? I looked at you the same way, and I was like, no, go ahead. Give it to me one more time. Who's talking about you, Crabtree? And Richard sherman died laughing. He was with Andrew whitwort, Earth, who, by the way, is a mountain that big, dude. Goodness gracious. I think his head's an eight and a half. I'm gonna guess what a large, large guy. But Nate burleson saw him. Got to see a few people from the mothership. So it was a nice night. Mike Tirico. Got to see Mike. Mike went over three last night. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. Big over. Ernie Johnson. Saw Ernesto. He won the best studio host again. Yeah, it was nice night. It would have been a better night if we won and if I didn't embarrass myself with David hill. Cream rinse. What? I know. I know you. And I go, yeah. And then, oh, my God. I know you. So that. Which is good. That's great. He's like, heck, yeah, man. This dude. But, okay, here's what made it even worse. I don't introduce. He's. He's looking at his phone. He's got his sports emmy there, and he's walking. And I go, two words for you. Cream. Rich. And he. No, you didn't. Yes, I do. No, you. Yes, I did. Now, I'd had a couple of jack and cokes by then, but I'm just saying, have you know how when sometimes, like, you'll be out in public or, like, say you're in the airport and you'll run into somebody and a guy will be like, hey, hey, hey. I don't know if you remember this, but in 1989, I ran into you in this airport one time, and you said, like, hey, go zips, or whatever. Do you remember that? And you're like, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what you did to David. Do you remember in 1989 when you said creamers to me? No. From the great timing department. The winner, lose, we celebrate. T shirts are on sale right now at danpatrick. T shirts are on sale. Whatever we got left. $10. $10. Clean them out. Yes. Get rid of them. Winner, lose. We celebrate, which is our motto around here. Usually lose. We celebrate. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app and our radio affiliates, iHeartradio, Fox Sports Radio as well. Recapping last night. OKC rolling. The Timberwolves, they're up 1 0. You know, it's sometimes you have that feeling after game one of a series, you go, oh, it's over. Well, it's not over, but OKC is a prohibitive favor to go to the NBA finals. And also, you know, I'm looking at Minnesota. They go 15 for 51 from three point range. I believe that's 29% OKC. They don't shoot threes. They shot 21. They made 11, 52%. They're really good free throw shooters. SGA doesn't shoot threes. Didn't have a three last night. Didn't take a three. Minnesota had 19 turnovers. They turned that into 31 points. That's the game. OKC is a lot better defensively than you think. They're, they're really good offense because of, you know, sga. And you got homegrown there. I mean, it's. They're a deep team. They're a good team. I mean, a really good team. And I don't think anybody's going to be surprised if they win a championship here. It's game one. Now you want to see what adjustments Minnesota makes. And I don't know if Anthony Edwards is 100%, maybe nobody's 100%, but he's not taking a lot of shots here. The last two games that he's played, I think maybe total 25 shots. If you're one of the top 10 players in the game, you got to take 25 a night. He, he almost has to be Jalen Brunson to Minnesota. SGA is going to get a lot of help, but SGA is systematic. It is, it is precision and it is death. Like, he gets, he get gets going, and he's going to be very, very efficient. You can pencil in. He's going to get 29, 30 every single night. All right, Seaton, what's poll question today? Well, we got a couple of options here. Can I start with? Well, this one might be too insensitive. You might be mad at me for this one. Or you might laugh or you might not. Tougher L to take losing the sports Emmy or David Hill not remembering the Kramer and story or the fact that he was going to offer me the job. I can't believe that he would call you and be like, hey, come sit down. I want to have a meeting with you about this job and then leave the meeting by insulting you in your hair. I know that's odd, but maybe he felt so comfortable, like, hey, by the way, you're going to be on the team. Next thing is cream rinse. We need to get that puffy hair under control. You're going to be a star. I mean, I've had management say stupid things to me. That's fair. Because that's why their management. That's fair. They say stupid things. Say stupid things for a living. Yes, but they don't say it on camera or on radio. But yeah, no, the team lost. I, I really thought that this, this was the year. Yeah. Yeah. I thought I, it was reflective of a. All around what this show is. And then, you know, that's what I'm proud of is we get to, we get to do a show how we want to do a show with, you know, no interference from management. Here. Here's how it sounded last night. Show daily are the Dan Patrick show, Peacock. Good morning. Football, NFL Network, MLB Central, MLB Network, MLB Tonight. MLB Network, NFL Live, ESPN, ESPN2. Pardon the interruption, ESPN. And the final Emmy of the night goes to NFL Live. ESPN, ESPN 2. Accepting the Emmy, Laura Rutledge, host. Oh, whatever. Laura. Yeah, great. Yeah, great. Go up there and be likable. Yeah, whatever. Yeah. Go up there and be charming. Yeah, great. But if you look at the category, and we have a paragraph of people who work on the show. If you look at all the other shows, probably at least a hundred people work on all these shows, and. And that's what I'm most proud of. If you see it just us and you're going up against, you know, networks here, and yes, it's a loss, but I'd rather be nominated than lose. And I did have friends who said, hey, your brand is still alive. You didn't win. Congratulations. Yes. Exactly what you wanted. Yeah, I know. I know. You wanted to lose. Well, it's bad for our brand if we win. I think wrong. Yes, yes. See, that's why I think that sometimes I think that we. We lose sight of why it's so amazing that we get nominated based on sort of who we are. Like you said, those shows have, like, 100 or 200 people working on them, and we have 12. You know, their monthly budget on all of those shows is probably what we spend an entire year in. Yeah. You know, in our whole total budget. They have all of this crazy technology and stuff, and we're a radio show on tv. That's what we want. You know, that's so important. You brought this up last night, and you said, we want to be the first radio show on TV that wins a sports Emmy. Because there are a lot of shows that, you know, you have the radio and TV component, but to be the first to do that, since we kind of invented this genre, that would be awesome. Yes. And like, within sports TV circles. Right. And I mean this with respect to lots of people, radio on TV is about as low as it gets in terms of the importance of sports television. Right. There's, like, live events, which is a big deal. There's shows like SportsCenter and all of these things that are these, like, just titans of the industry. Right. They're a big deal. But when you're doing a radio simulcast on tv, it's kind of like, all right, just push the button and then watch these guys talk. It's not, like, the most gratifying work sometimes for directors and producers and things like that. It's like, all right, this is where we cut our chops. But we're so good at what we do that we're a radio show. We're exactly the same as what they hate about doing. But we get nominated with all these other shows like SportsCenter and Pardon the Interruption, all these huge, huge, huge shows. As a radio show, that's pretty special. Yep. And hopefully we only got a couple More chances here. I know. Two. Yeah, we got two more chances. Two more. Two more. Yes. Paul, do we have two or three more chances? We have next year and the year after that. But I. Maybe three. Maybe three, but I don't know if I'm going to after I've retired. Oh, you wouldn't attend? I don't. I don't think so. Like, you had me. Which means we're absolutely going to win. If you don't absolutely. If it means that we absolutely win and I don't go, then I won't go. But I don't want one of those where you give a lifetime achievement award. I do not want that you had a chance to give this to me when it mattered. I don't want to. Yeah, you know what? And ladies and gentlemen, the hall of Very Good. Say hello to Dan Patrick here. Yeah, see, no offense, I don't want that either, because I don't get one. That's what happens. Like, a lot of times it's like, hey, Dan's got this major award for the Dan Patrick show, but it's like we're honoring Dan Patrick today. The show part always gets cut out. I want to win the Dan Patrick show Emmy, not the Dan Patrick, no offense. Jason in Tampa. Hi, Jason. What's on your mind today? Ian, Dan, it's incredible to be on, on with you guys. How y' all. Well, I know how y' all are doing. I'm sorry, I'm a longtime listener. First time caller, five foot seven, 140. Look, it's a bummer that you guys didn't win the sports semi. They honestly, they don't deserve you guys. That interview of Tony Reality that you had earlier this week, one shot, huge shout out to everybody for that. And that's just. Just one example of how awesome you guys are. So hopefully in the next two years, they'll get you guys one. But if not, that's not what. What, you know, that's not what your show needs to show how awesome you guys are and. No, no, no, it is. It is. We need. We need one of those. We do, but thank you, Jason. Yes, we do. For everybody in here. It would be great. Yes, Todd, I echo those sentiments. And I know with these last couple years, there's got to be a way one of them comes out. Are you tired after a. Our performance last night in the party bus, I am tired. I don't think I fell asleep till closer to three. And then all of a sudden the alarm goes off at 5:30. So we're a little banged up, all of us. Yeah. Some of the backroom guys, they slept here in the man cave. We had like these blow up mattresses and they're scattered all over the place. Yeah. See, just curious. Why did you still get up at 5:30? Because I wanted to leisurely get up, take a nice leisurely shower, pop on the TV to see what's going on in the world. Then I wanted to go down for and not feel rushed. And I just like a little extra time to get ready if it means setting the alarm for a half hour or 45 minutes earlier than someone else. Normally, yes. Paulie. I knew I've been sitting on this for 40 minutes. I knew this was gonna happen. We've been working with Fritzi for a long time. That bus ride back, you're not even scratching the surface of how wild it was. Todd was like lurking for 20 minutes, silent. And then as we exited New York, he literally stood up for the next 90 plus minutes and told stories about his childhood and TV show clips and songs and it was like a. A 1 hour 1 man special without a pause. Yeah, and, and applause too. And yes. No applause. And Seaton's trying to sleep in the corner. Marvin's trying to sleep. Some of us were wide awake. And I absolutely knew he was going to walk in today with no guests. I knew it. Did you say no guests or. No guests? Guess he's got. No, he's, he's, he's fine with that. You got, you got the great. Oh, yeah, you got Wayno. All right, that's fine. But yeah, you are low on energy there, Mr. Fumes. Yeah, let's go. Come on. Why not sleep instead of leisurely taking your time to watch TV at 5:30. I was all excited about that 6:30 breakfast. I'm like, I don't want to miss that. And I want to be in the. I know, but don't cheat the audience. I don't think I'm cheating the audience. Yeah, you are. You don't have any energy. I got enough. I got. I got plenty of energy. I'm picking my spots. I'm not screaming and yelling and punching the desk. But I'm here and I'm ready to go. Oh, okay. Let me know how you can prove my energy level. No one appreciated it last night of the bus. I got to try to figure out how to navigate on the street. Moderation. Yeah, you could have saved something. I got something in the back of the tank. Maybe. It may not be a limerick. I. I got. We'll figure something. $3 million for a Lucas in Texas. Hi, Lucas. What's on your mind? Hey, Dan. Good morning. Good morning. You know, I'm disappointed. For the win or for the loss as well? You guys are even greater than the Buffalo Bills in my book, so take solace in that. But I want to focus here on wins. And there was a big win in the last week for the DP show. I have it on good authority, and that authority being Mario and Instagram account. That one. Todd, Fritz picked up the tab for an entire lunch while you guys were in Atlanta. Can the I team confirm this? And what were the circumstances that led to Todd? This is after when we did Celebrity family feud. We were at the airport, and Fritzi picked up lunch for a total of four people, but only after, I think we kind of goaded him into picking up the check. That's not fair. That isn't fair. Todd picked up the lunch for all of us, and it was a really nice thing to do. Yeah. But I think I had to kind of point out that he's never picked up. He's never picked up the check. Yeah, he has on occasion. And I took a picture of it because it's such a rarity. I told you guys the next time I'll do that. It's got to be some type of total eclipse of the sun or some kind of lunar eclipse. It doesn't happen. I'm happy to make fun of Todd for just about anything, but that was a nice thing to do. It was a nice thing for all the other times when he didn't do a nice thing. That was a nice thing. He finally pulled out the credit card. Yes, Paul. Yeah. I think from what I saw at that meal, Seaton was getting ready to pay. I saw Seaton pull out the card. I go see, can I get in on this? And lo and behold, Fritzi grabbed the waiter, took care of it. I know. Surreptitiously. Yeah, Great. We had a nice time together in Atlanta. We're all sitting together, getting ready to go on the plane, and I just thought, just something came over me, like, you know, that would be a nice thing to do. Todd in Indiana. Hi, Todd. What's on your mind today, Danny? Boys, tough loss last night. I have a suggestion for your reel for next year. As someone who watches the show wire to wire every day, I've noticed that more often than not, when you're interviewing someone, Dan, they always say, wow, that's a great question. And if you just put a 15 to 20 second montage of all These guests saying, wow, what a great question. I think it finally puts you over the finish line. Well, we thought about that, but here's the thing. And thank you, Todd. You have to take an entire, you know, section of the show. You can't just, you know, carve it up. I think you have to use five different elements from all the shows that we did during the year, and you can't just piece them together. Because I wanted to do a promo one time where you do have all these people saying, boy, that's a great question, and have it all, like, 15 of them, and then say if you think the questions are great, which you hear the answers. The Dan Patrick show. But as far as the sports Emmy, you can't do it that way. Can't carve it up. You have to have a full segment to, you know, reflect what you did for that amount of time. Chemo in Virginia. Hi, Chemo. Welcome back, Danny. It's a conspiracy. It's. It's really a conspiracy from you taking your speaking do away from the mothership, the death star. You took the heavy hitters with you. Oh, and. And Paulie, of course, we know where his nose was. But anyway, it's a conspiracy against you. Fritzi, what do you think? Promiscuously. Is that the term? Dan will get the award. Promiscuously. Posthumously. Yeah. Yeah, posthumously. Thank you, Chemo. The chemo is on the bus with us for most of the night. Low on. Low on sleep, too. Jason in Sacramento. Hi, Jason. Hey, guys. Tough L last night, but I'm used to those. I'm a Cowboys fan. A fan. Sacramento Kings fan, San Jose Sharks fan. Yeah, it gets pretty rough, but I just want to say that I got a little bit of butterflies last night right before it happened. So, like, you know, all day nation, we were there with. I think a lot of bad juju was going on yesterday with seven. Could be possibly the seventh charm, but it was actually the sixth charm, so I think next year's the year, boys. Thank you. Thank you. Jason. Marvin, how do you feel? I'm really proud of what we've done the past year, but I really, really wanted to win. Obviously, we all did, because it would have been one of those. Oh, what was the. What was the big difference? I'm in the chair and not somebody else. This. This would have been your victory lap because McLovin used to sit in the chair for sure. Shout out to McLovin because he was a big part of the show and the reason why it became what it became, But. Oh, I Would have. Okay. We can all have our selfish motives. That's. I'm fine with that. Yes. Okay. So now that we officially can't blame McLovin and we can't officially credit Marvin, Marvin now goes into the blame category as well. Who do we now blame if it's not McLovin? I don't. I don't know if we play the blame game. I. I blamed Mario because he put together our Emmy reel. That's for when we're not nominated. When we weren't nominated. Yeah. There were two years we weren't nominated. I blamed him. Those were his fault. And then he said, oh, I got a different approach here. And I said, okay. And now he's the director of the show. And so now things may change a little bit here. As Mario said, he's going to direct differently than the big German. Did you. We'll get one one day. It's okay. It is okay. It is. It is okay. It is. I was. I was. I was angry in the moment. I don't know that people really understand the, like, uphill climb that it is for what our show is versus what those shows are. Well. And how crazy it is that we've been nominated six times. The fact that we started out in my attic for three years. We started out in your attic. I couldn't get anybody to televise this show in the attic. We didn't even really have a show to televise yet for most of you. No, we didn't. No, we didn't. We didn't know what the hell. Yeah. Although watching the cats pull on all the cords and stuff like that would have been pretty cool. Yeah, that would have been pretty funny television. Yes, Paulie. See, but the problem is going forward is we've been nominated a bunch. We've been around a long time. Maybe people take it for granted. And then a new show pops up and gets nominated, wins. I think Good Morning Football breakout hit a couple of years ago. I think they won then. NFL Live. First nomination, first win. That's kind of. It's almost like the mvp, Shea. Gil, just. Oh, look at him. Breakout star. He gets it. Yes. Todd, and we've talked about this before. Would we prefer to be in a more specific category that would better reflect, I'm thinking, what the so called competition is. How about daytime Emmy? Not sports Emmy. Yes. I want to go after Kelly Clarkson. Oh, she's vulnerable. Who's Kelly Clarkson? Yeah, I want to go after Kelly. I want to go after Kelly and Kelly Ripa and Kelly's Kelly. Yeah. More Consuelos. Mark Consuelos, the View. Oh, they're due. I'm coming after him. Let's just forget about sports. Let's just go for daytime sports. I mean, what are the topics? Daytime Emmy. What topics do we have to switch to? We don't. We. But we gotta dump sports and do daytime TV topic. Well, there's no rules that say the View can't talk sports if they want to. I'm just saying we throw in a hot guy draft into the daytime Emmy submission things. We might be the first sweep 100 Emmy winner. Okay. Yeah, let's. Let's go bigger here. Just not limit ourselves to sports. We're going after Dan Patrick show the movie Oscar nominated. Yes, yes, yes. Yeah. How about we take a break here? Okay. All right. Yeah. From sports. Yeah, no, I gotta take. If you're watching on Peacock during the live look in, Fritzi does his Richard Sherman impersonation to Richard Sherman. We captured that last night. We'll have that for you and our play of the day up next. Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick show, weekdays at 9am Eastern, 6am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio in the iHeartRadio app. While others are sitting in lecture halls, you're already building your future at Ferris State University. There were nominees for the best studio host last night, and you had some big, big hitters there. You know, Mike Tirico, you had Ernie Johnson, you had Scott Van Pelt. And then there was a woman who was nominated. Her name is Kate Scott, and she does soccer, I think, for cbs. Is that right? Cbs? Yeah, yeah, Paramount. Okay. And Seaton goes, do you know anything about her? And I go, I don't. And he said, what she does is amazing. But people won't realize this because maybe they're not watching soccer, but give people an idea of what Kate Scott from CBS does and how that, you know, compares with these other hosts. Well, the. The show that she does here in the United States is very much like a. Like a tnt. She's sort of the Ernie Johnson. It's like a lot of laughs. It's a lot of fun. Everybody is like, it's a big group, and it's big personalities. And she is the sort of air traffic controllers. Paul would say there. Right. But because soccer is a worldwide sport, obviously you have players from all over the world on any given team. After the games, she'll sit up there and it'll be like, okay, this game just ended. And the German guy say, comes up and she'll live. Translate what the German guy is saying. And so I say, okay, here's Ilkai Gundogan. Okay. He's saying, coach was unhappy with us. In the first half, but we rebound in the second half. Good win to get whatever this. That the very next guy will come up and he'll be French, and she'll, okay, let me live translate the French thing. She speaks, like, I don't know, four or five languages or something, and she'll live translate press conferences on the fly. On the fly, and she still can't get an Emmy. That's crazy. And that's no disrespect to what everybody else brings to the table, but having that ability to live translate. She could speak Spanish, French, German, you know, English, obviously. It's crazy. It's crazy what she could do. Well, congratulations being nominated last night. Yeah. Joe in Phoenix. Hi, Joe. What's on your mind today? Gentlemen? Gentlemen, I've been watching and listening for a long, long time. And last night, it's a hard pill to swallow. However, I think we need to make some changes. And, you know, I don't. I know we don't want to play the blame game here, but I'm just gonna say it. I. I blame our wives. I blame our wives. I blame our significant others. I watch this, listen to this show every day, and, you know, every time I relay a story to my wife, I get eye rolls, I get deep breaths. She doesn't care. She doesn't want to know who you guys are, but she does. She knows who Fritzi is. Is. And I just think if we could rally some of that positive energy from our wives, our significant others. We only got two shots left, boys. We got to make a change. We got to have. We got to rally the troops here. And I think that's the missing link. Thank you, Joe. I appreciate that. You know, we'll take that under advisement, but, you know, we. We do try to cater to a larger audience. It's not necessarily hardcore sports. We give you marital advice. We give you child rearing advice. I'm not saying it's good advice. I'm just saying. But we give you advice. Yes, Paul, it is funny how much our wives do have our back, though. Every year it's become a tradition at the Emmys when my wife will go, so who are you guys up against? And I'll go, pti. She goes, is that the half hour show? She goes, how is a 30 minute show competing with you guys? And then she goes to baseball tonight. That's a highlight show. How is a highlight. She gets all. She breaks down each show by what they perceive. Don't do. Yes. I definitely think it's way worse to not Be nominated. Yeah. Than to be nominated and lose. That's always that. I feel way worse when you see that list come out and you're like, oh, not us. Yeah. Oh, man, what a no. If we get nominated the next two years and don't win, I'm okay. I am. Yes, Mark. We definitely have supportive wives. Reading a text last night. We lost. Damn. You got the nom, which is huge. This is my wife saying this. Yeah. Don't be upset. You got to go to the awards. Had a great night. 2026 is going to be the year. Oh, wow. Very supportive. The scheduled text. Oh, she. Don't fake that. Jim in Indiana. Hi, Jim. First time? Long time. 5, 10, 240. First off real quick, the other day when you were talking about the Oilers between Houston and Edmonton, and you were talking about fun players from Houston, nobody mentioned Billy White Shoes Johnson. Kind of found that a little disappointing. Well, we were talking off the cuff there, so I'm sorry we didn't run down the roster there for you, Jim. I'm sorry. He's been grinding on that. Yeah. Like, how dare you? You didn't have Billy White Shoes Johnson. Fritzi, that should have been you. I did, in all honesty, think of that name after the fact. But the moment was gone. It was like a few minutes later. Do you want to apologize to Jim in Indiana? Sorry. Jim in Indiana. Should have just blurted out while we were on. It's a totally other time. Indiana. Yeah. Yes. Marvin. If we're talking about the Oilers, we could talk about Buddy Ryan. Fighting. Fighting. Kevin Gilbride on the sidelines. We can talk about that, too. The Tennessee Oilers. Now you're flexing. I mean, we. We don't need to do that. Like, great. You. They fought on the sidelines. I know, I know, I know, I know. Houston Oilers. Houston Oilers. Houston. Was that a song? Yes. Yes. Love you blue. Love you blue. We'll head to the NFL owners meeting. We got to get back to work. We got to do what we're supposed to do here. Stop crying big babies.
