I know a lot of cops, they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. This is Absolute Season one, Taser Incorporated. I get right back there and it's bad. Listen to Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Clayton English. I'm Greg Lodd, and this is season two of the War on Drugs podcast. Last year, a lot of the problems of the drug war. This year, a lot of the biggest names in music and sports. This kind of star studded a little bit, man. We met them at their homes, we met them at their recording studios. Stories matter and it brings to it. It makes it real. It really does. It makes it real. Listen to new episodes of the War on Drugs podcast. Season two on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. We did it. We made it to a Thursday Dan and the Dan. It's Dan Patrick Show. It's hour one. Come on in, Marvin. Getting a height and weight bell ready because Little Winston Patrick, 8 pounds 5 ounces, 21 inches. Yep. Day mom and baby are doing well. So that was a nice little surprise. Winston Patrick into the world yesterday afternoon. Yes. Paul, instant reaction on the name Winston Patrick. That sounds almost senatorial. Senator Winston Patrick. I like it. Well, my wife is a Winston Churchill fan and my son's middle name is Winston. Although it's weird, I have a dog named Winnie, so that might get a little complicated as well. But mom and baby are doing quite well and last I looked, my son was doing well. We'll get phone calls coming up. Got a lot to cover today. It's a great day. Thunder close out the Timberwolves. And now you have Pacers in the Knicks game five as Indiana tries to close out the Knicks and head to the NBA Finals. The Knicks are favored by four at home. I hope that they can deal with the pressure of seeing famous people in the audience. Apparently that's, that's a new thing. I did not know. But we're coming up with excuses why the Knicks can't somehow win games at home. 8 7, 7, 3 DP Show Email Address dp@danpatrick.com Twitter Handle @DP Show Poll Question Play of the Day Stat of the Day all of that forthcoming win or lose, we celebrate. If you're watching on Peacock, that's our streaming partner, the comedian David Spade. A little later on today, Tim Legler, ESPN analyst, will stop by as well. It wasn't pretty, but Oklahoma City tends to do that to you as they shut down the Timberwolves from the start. Minnesota scoring just nine points in the first quarter. SGA had a business like 34. The Thunder have four wins by 30 or more points this postseason. First NBA team in history with four playoff wins of 30 or more in a single postseason. The previous record, three wins of 30 or more. The 2016 Cavs, the 96 Jazz and the 1986 Lakers. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of this program. But nine first quarter points. So in the last 30 years, there have been a total of six teams who have held somebody to fewer than 10 points in the first quarter of a playoff game. The Thunder have done it twice this postseason. They held Denver to eight first quarter points in game for the second round. They play great defense. I know that people aren't going to tune in to watch great defense, but OKC is just trying to win a title. You know, you don't get style points. Nobody cares about that. If you're winning a championship, it's not kind of how you did it. It's just that you did it. And if it means SGA gets you 35 a game, you play great defense and you hopefully get support from your supporting players. And that's what's happened so far. Indiana the same way. And yes, you're going to have people who probably don't watch basketball on a regular basis who are going to lament the fact that if it's Indiana against okc, that's fine with me because you probably aren't watching anyway. Those who are watching will and those who are fans and you'll be curious. You'll be curious to watch Tyrese Halliburton and sga. We keep trying to look for the. The face of the NBA. Who's the next face of the NBA? Well, it's Anthony Edwards. No, he doesn't want to be. Can Jason Tatum be it? No, he's a great player. He's just not, you know, a star. Sga, great player, not a star. You know, there's. There's only a few of them and we've talked about this and it's not meant as a knock. I'm just giving you the reality of will you stop if somebody's playing on TV and go, oh, okay? Or you'll seek out that player or you would actually buy tickets to go watch somebody play. I mean, Joker is great. There's a curiosity to him. I don't know if he's got star power. I think there's. It's curiosity power. Luca has star power. LeBron still has star power. Steph Curry still has star power. And we're trying to anoint the, you know, Giannis still has it. We're trying to anoint somebody as the, the next, the next. We keep. It doesn't take long before we move on from somebody and then you move on to the next guy and then who's the next guy? Anthony Edwards is not ready for it. He doesn't want to be the face of the NBA. But because you get drafted higher, it's different. You know, look at these. Some of these guys who've been drafted mid first round, you know, Giannis Kawhi, you know, they, they weren't rushed to be anything. They were allowed to be something. We wanted, indeed to be great right away. He wasn't ready, wasn't healthy. Anthony Edwards, you know, when you're drafted that high, it's like, okay, we want to see what you have. You get the pleasant surprise, you know, in the mid to late first round or even second round with Joker. And I think we don't allow these. But Anthony Edwards is 23, so you got to be fair to the timeline here. It's just sometimes you see a pocket of greatness and then, because we were looking for the next Jordan, for how long? Well, we're still looking for the next Jordan. Anthony Edwards. He reminds me of Jordan. No, not me. Not yet. I saw Jordan and there's nobody. Jordan reminds me of Jordan. That's it. There's. There's nobody on the list where you go, you know, he kind of looks remind. He plays like, yes, Paul. You know, Kobe was really close and it was really overt. Like, he imitated Jordan. He studied Jordan and his game offensively was a lot like it. His mannerisms were a lot like it. Kobe came really close. Yeah, he wanted to be Mike. He studied. He wanted the mannerisms. Everything about that. He came pretty close to. Came pretty close. But Anthony Edwards was asked after the loss, if this hurts. It's exciting. I don't know. I don't know why people would think it would hurt. I mean, it's exciting for me. I'm 23. I get to do it a whole bunch of times. I'm hurt. More so for myself, for Mike. I came up short for Mike. Like I said, we tried last year. We couldn't get it. We tried again this year. We're gonna try again next. But hurting is a terrible word to use. I'm. I'm good. Okay. Said nobody's going to work harder than him in the off season. Good. And. And OKC did show him the ultimate respect because you Have Lou Dort, who was just face guarding him. This used to be called a box in one where you had one guy on one guy and then the other four playing pretty much the zone. And, and that is the show of respect. But still, Anthony Edwards didn't get any further than he was last year. And Luka took his team to the NBA finals. They're around the same age. Luka's a couple of years older. But you know, we're expecting young players. You know, Cooper flag coming in next year. At 18, 19 years of age, he won't have that expectation because he's going to Dallas. He won't be the focal point when he's there. But a lot of these players, when you come in, what are you going to do for me now, you know, Victor Wembanyama, because the team isn't very good. He gets a little bit more of a Runway there. But at certain point it gets to be three years, four years in. Then you're like, are you going to win a championship? We, we're doing that now at an earlier age than ever. And speaking of age, OKC is the second youngest team to go to the NBA Finals. Everything seems to be lined up for them to create a, whatever the modern day dynasty is. They should be there. They're consistent. You have, you know, it's hard to get guys to play defense. Everybody wants to play offense. But when you have a philosophy, team philosophy, that is defense. And this is the spurs great elixir. This is the magic potion for Greg Popovich with all of those great teams that he had. They wanted to play great defense and you have to want to play defense. Nobody wants to play defense. But when you do and it's contagious. You know, we talk about offense when somebody's, you know, clicking and then somebody else is clicking. Defense is, you know, that's, that's contagious. Like, damn, he's hustling. He blocked shot. You know, the coming up with a steal, like just whatever those little things are. And okay, OKC has done that. Yes, Marvin. And being a defender pays in the NBA, like the term three and D guy. Jayden McDaniels makes a hundred million dollars. Isaiah Hardenstein makes $30 million a year. So it pays. So I'm just not understanding why people were like, why don't need to play defense? Because it pays in the NBA. They're paying people out the wazoo. Pacers at the Knicks. And the Knicks are giving four in game five coming up tonight. All right, poll question. Seaton. What Are we going to do first hour of the program? Exactly what is the wazoo? Will be our first poll question. That's an old school phrase. It is. It is. Yeah. Yeah. It's one that we all use but never question. Like who said. Oh, you know what? I'm gonna refer to that as the wazoo. Checking. Can you check and see how we came up with wazoo on it? Fritzi? An old Washington State University thing. Probably not. That's what they call themselves too, don't they? Yeah, Wazoo up the wazoo. Okay, what else do we have seen? Let's see. We got a couple here from the tow. We might as well start there. Intentionally walking a batter in the first inning at strategy or bush league? It's a great one. Do you believe Caleb Williams wanted to be a Chicago Bear and loves being there? Sure. Definitely not. Oh, boy. Stefan Diggs. I don't know if we're ready to get into that just yet, man. I like. I like Stefan Diggs. Every time he's been on with us. He's entertaining, but, man, you have to confiscate everybody's phones if you're gonna be on your yacht, that's first thing you do. We're not. We're not on display here. Everybody loves to record everything, you know, we gotta chronicle everything. I don't have to chronicle that. You know, I don't think he's married. Although, isn't he going out with Cardi B? Is that. Yeah, Marvin. He is. So I'm at the Knicks game. Got drama. See, I. I don't. You don't need that. I mean, she was there and putting on way more of a display than Steph was, so. Oh, yeah, yeah. She was there in all of her cardi B. Ness. Oh. Oh, okay. But he pulls out some packet that's got something pink in it. I'm not up on what the kids are doing now, but. Seaton, any idea on what that substance. Powder, whatever it might have been. I assumed it was Kool Aid or Fun Dip or. Is that what it was? Some type of powdered sugar candy, sweet treat. Sweet tarts? Yeah, crushed up sweet tarts. Maybe he likes to put it on his toast. I'm not really sure. I'm not really sure why you'd ask me about that either. Up the wazoo. Yeah, that's where that powder goes. Right up the wazoo. According to Dictionary.com, the first usage of up the wazoo. University of California, Berkeley humor newspaper called it. Let's run it up your old wazoo, meaning your backside. But the actual definition these days is to extreme degree or in great abundance, like I've got money coming out my wazoo. It means you have a lot of something. Okay, back to you. All right. Didn't think we were going there this early in the show. Public service, but here we are. Yes, thank you for that. All right, any other poll questions here? We'll get to the Bears situation with Caleb Williams. This story is actually a couple of weeks old. Seth Wickersham has a book on quarterbacks and he had a quote in there. His father didn't want his son to go play for the Bears. That's where quarterbacks go to die. So we'll talk about that. Caleb Williams addresses that. He addressed that yesterday. Anything else, Seton that we can at least do a drive by on? Yeah, we're going to actually start with this one from Marvin. When did the Timberwolves book their flights to Cancun? Pre game halftime or right after the game ended? That's going to be your hour one poll question. Wow. Wow. See, you got to put up a fight. This is one of those that you could have had a really good year in Minnesota. You had a really bad couple of weeks here. Therefore this feels like a disappointment. It didn't feel like they were closer to the NBA finals. And OKC is only going to get better. And if you're Minnesota and you know you got the Dante DiVincenzo and Julius Randall and so you kind of changed the look of your team. You traded away Carl Anthony Towns but it didn't feel like they were ready to take that next step. And you know, OKC impeded that next step, that's for sure. And for Shea Gilgis watching him last night, he, he's going to get a bucket. He's going to get wherever he needs to get. And this is what great players do, great scorers do. They know you're going to try to take away one thing and then they know there's another move and another. So there's three that they're thinking now you just take your chances. What are the odds I'm going to get help here. SGA off the dribble is going to get where he needs to go. It's remarkable to see. And you know he's not a three point shooter, he's a, you know, the master of the mid range jumper. But he can get to the hoop. It's not exciting, but it's just greatness. That's what you're seeing. You're seeing a truly great player on display. And I do have the list of players who have won the MVP and went on to win the NBA title. And this is in the last 25 years. I'll have that for you. We'll take a break. I'll see if you guys can get. I'm taking Jordan out of the equation here, okay? Because Mike did it a couple of times. Perhaps you've heard of him. Michael Jordan. All right, we'll take a break. Got our poll question ready to go. Glad you're part of the program. We're back after this. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. So join me starting Tuesday, May 6th where we'll delve into stories of the west and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which we experience the region today. In 2020, a group of young women in a tidy suburb of New York City found themselves in an AI fueled nightmare. Someone was posting photos. It was just me naked. Well, not me, but me with someone else's body parts on my body. Parts that looked exactly like my own. I wanted to throw up. I wanted to scream. It happened in Levittown, New York. But reporting the series took us through the darkest corners of the Internet and to the front lines of a global battle against deepfake pornography. This should be illegal, but what is this? This is a story about a technology that's moving faster than the law and about vigilantes trying to stem the tide. I'm Margie Murphy. And I'm Olivia Carville. Roger Caron was 16 when first convicted, has spent 24 of those years in jail, 12 years in solitary. He went from an ex con to a literary darling almost overnight. He was instantly a celebrity. He was an adrenaline junkie and he was the star of the show. Go Boy is the gritty true story of how one man fought his way out of some of the darkest places imaginable. I had a knife go in my stomach, puncture my spleen, break my rib. I had my guts all in my hands only to find himself back where he started. Roger's saying is, I've never hurt anybody but myself. How she's turning so called niche into mainstream gold. Connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there's so many stories out there and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. It's the minister of humor, Fritzi. It's Seaton. It's Marv Paulie, yours truly, and the back room guys. All right, so we settle on a poll question. Phone calls always welcome. 877-3DP show the Pacers trying to close out the Knicks tonight. But if they can get it done, you're going to have an NBA Finals matchup that's built on one of the more unexpected foundations imaginable. Paul George. That's right, Paul George, who hasn't played a single minute for either OKC or Indiana in the last six years. And he's the secret ingredient in the NBA Finals. Let me explain. So back in 2017, Indiana traded Paul George to OKC in exchange for Demontes Sabonis and Victor Oladipo. Fast forward a few years later, Sabonis gets flipped for Tyrese Halliburton in Sacramento. And now the face of the franchise. OKC followed a similar path. After two years with the Thunder, Paul George dealt to the Clippers. That was a big deal that sent Shea Gilgis Alexander in a boatload of picks to okc. Shea just won the mvp. And one of those pick swaps turned out to be Jalen Williams in all NBA selection. So if the Pacers go to the NBA finals, does Paul George get a playoff share? I mean, I, I think he's well, competent. Does he get a ring? Doesn't matter. Whoever wins, do they have a ceremony where Paul George comes to town and they give him a ceremonial championship ring? Yes, Paulie, I forgot about the Halliburton angle of that trade for the Pacers. Oklahoma City is still dining out on that. They were in the, in the lottery three years ago and they still have draft picks coming in from the Clippers. They have more draft picks than just about every team. I think they stockpiled these. And Sam Presti, their gm, has done a wonderful job in building this team. They got Chad Holmgren with one of those lottery picks a couple of years ago. They're a young team and built for success, immediate success and long term success. We'll talk to Tim Legler, the Mothership. He will join us coming up next hour. All right, here's something. How many players have won the MVP in the same season that they won an NBA championship? Marvin, I'll start with you. Akeem Elijah. I'm taking Michael Jordan out of this. Okay. Okay. So Mike's out of this MVP and went on to win the NBA championship. Akeem Olajuwon. Keem Olajuwon is a. No, wait, wait, Paul. I will go with Larry Bird. Players who have won both the MVP and the NBA championship same year. I've got Michael Jordan, Shaquille O' Neal, Tim Duncan, LeBron James, Steph Curry. Now this is. This is in the last 25 years. Oh, okay. Just to be sick. Yeah, yeah. I'm. I'm dealing with kind of the modern era of the NBA or most recent. So, yes, Larry Bird and Keem Elijah. One. That's Emi. It's Emy. I should have said that. There's, you know, context to this. But so Jordan, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Lebron James, and. And Steph Curry. But you can check and see. I know Larry did it. Did Akeem do it as well? Anybody else who's in there? The Kim did it. Magic. Magic did it. Yeah, I think 87. Okay. All right. So this is from 1990 on, I guess, starting with Michael Jordan there. Bob Koozie. Bob Koozie did it. Of course, your idol, the guy that you patterned your game after. Bob Koozie. Correct. I was the modern day Bob Koozie. That's what they called me. St. Mary's Regional High School. They called you the Coos. The Coos, yeah. Yes, Marvin, I'm sure Bill Russell did it. Yeah. I'm gonna guess. No, but I'm talking about since 1990. You know what? I didn't spend a lot of time and prep work today. You know, I was all caught up. And you're excited. Congrats. Yeah. I mean, and it doesn't mean I'm mailing it in, but it may. I may give the appearance that I don't mean to. Don't mean to. But, Fritzi, if you want to scrutinize my. My work ethic today. No, it's a win. Winston situation for you. It's all good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But that was yesterday. Today, every day's the Super Bowl. All right, great. You had a grandkid. All right. You didn't have it. No. But you're sharing it today, so it's. You kind of. We have to celebrate that we're first finding out that today. So a little excited. I have two days of celebration. Thank you, Todd. Thank you. All right, Stephen in Dubuque. Hi, Stephen. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan. First time, long time. 58165, want to say congratulations to you on the birth of your grandchild. Congratulations on that. And I'll be quick on this, but this has been living rent free in my mind for the last couple of weeks. And I want your guys take on this. If you can help me out with this. So the New Orleans Saints in quarterback Hunter Deckers. A few weeks ago after the NFL draft, he played at Iowa State. He was Purdy's backup for a couple of years. Well, he was one of 30 + Iowa and Iowa State athletes named in a gambling probe back in 2023 that resulted in him getting banned from the NCA that year. That year. Away from football, he went to Iowa Western Community College for a year. Then the Saints signed him two weeks after the draft. Statistically, he was a giant amongst men at Iowa Western. It's common for players to go From Juco to D1, like Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Cam Ward, but not the other way around. My question for you and the Danettes, can you think of another player to go right from junior college or community college to the NFL? I'll hang up and listen. Congratulations again on the birthday of grandchild dance. Thank you, Stephen. Boy, that's a narrow pathway there that we're talking about going from JUCO to the NFL. I have to do some research. On that. Not aware of that and I don't. Does. Does the NFL punish this quarterback because they've punished member with Terrell Pryor. Yeah. With Ohio State with the tattoo scandal. And then didn't he get suspended when he came into the NFL? Like you if something happens to you in college then the NFL I guess can discipline you. I think that's correct. That is prior and that was a weird one at the time because what jurisdiction did they have to punish someone from a college violation? Yeah. And it was, you know, exchanged gear for tattoos. Do you have somebody who's gone from juco? Somebody marquee who went from juco to the NFL? The only people I could think of Tyreek Hill played at West Alabama, but I don't think that's a juco. And there was a guy named Eric Swan many years ago, played defensive tackle for the Arizona Cardinals. He didn't play any college football. He like he had like that Sean Kemp situation where he was in college but never played or something like that. I can't think of a juco. What we'll look Eric Swan. Deep cut. There's a big dude. Yeah, big dude. All right. 8773 DP show email address dpdanpatrick.com Twitter handle @DP show the Panthers closed out the Hurricanes, the Oiler Stars, Game five coming up tonight. Don't look now but Florida is dominating in hockey. You went from the Lightning going to three consecutive Stanley cup final and then after that it's been the Florida Panthers who are now going to their third consecutive Stanley cup final. We mentioned a little bit about the book that is coming out on quarterback Seth Wickersham who does a great job, did a lot of New England Patriot based books but he has one on quarterbacks and there is an excerpt in there attributed to Caleb Williams and his dad where his dad's talking about he didn't want his son to go to Chicago. That's where quarterbacks die. Now this came out a couple of days ago and this might be the first time Caleb Williams got in front of the media with OTAs and he had this to say about that quote. Through all of, you know, what was going on, through all of what happened in last year and previous years. I think that was enticing. I think that was something that was glaring to me that I wanted to come here and be the guy and be a part and be a reason on why Chicago Bears turn this thing around. So that last thing that was said and all of that I think was the most important Things that I wanted to be here, but I love being here. I love my teammates, you know, I love all the people that got me here. All right, so that's Caleb Williams. The book is American Kings, a biography of the quarterback Seth Wickersham of the mothership. He describes how Caleb's dad, Carl Williams, asked attorneys to find some way to work around the NFL's collective bargaining agreement exploring signing with the United Football League and considered publicly ripping Chicago and the Bears just to make sure they didn't draft him. And he says in the book Chicago is a place quarterbacks go to die. Now, the quote used to be attributed to wide receivers. With Chicago, Chicago is where receivers go to die. But here in the reason why they may have gone to die is that Chicago hasn't had great quarterbacks. Have they had a 4,000 yard passer in their history? Paulie? Never. The answer is no. You know, you had Jim McMahon, but you know Jim was a wonderful college quarterback and you know they ended up winning a Super Bowl. Perhaps you've heard the Bears won a Super Bowl. Haven't dined out on that for a long time. But you know, they, they were always defense and running the football. It wasn't where they featured wide receivers and quarterbacks. So I don't know if this is where quarterbacks go to die. It's, this starts in the front office. Who's doing the drafting here? I mean they, they haven't dressed. I mean they reached for Trubisky. He kind of was a good quarterback, but, but not a franchise quarterback. Who do you have? Give me all the great quarterbacks who played in Chicago. So is that because they walk in? So Patrick Mahomes all of a sudden put on a Bears uniform. Is he not any good? And the answer, that's silly, of course he is. It's what kind of front office do you have who's drafting these players? Not to mention the other players that you have on the roster. Caleb Williams will be fine this year and they have a really good offensive minded head coach and they started to fill out that roster. Now he needs to make quicker decisions, not hold on to the ball. Don't get sacked 60 times and they should be a playoff caliber team. But if you look at the list of great quarterbacks they've had, they go to die there. But they weren't meant to live long to begin with and the wide receivers as well. Now you don't want to go to Chicago if you're a receiver because you're not going to play for a good Quarterback head coaching has been in a state of flux for a long time there. So what kind of stability do you have? And I think that, you know, it's a cheap organization, start at the top. I mean there's a lot here. But I, I don't believe that if, you know, put Joe Burrow in Chicago, you're going to tell me he's not any good. That's silly. He would be good. Yes. Paul, it is interesting your angle on this that you're kind of somewhat defending the Bears franchise in their history and more blaming on picking the wrong players because a lot of people think that, that our almost understanding of Caleb Williams father being hesitant to let one his son going there because of their history without assigning blame to anybody. Yes, but I look at the front office here. They're the ones who were drafting these quarterbacks. Paulie, give me an idea. Give the audience an idea. When you run down. I'm just saying Pro bowl quarterback. Oh, Pro Bowl. I mean only alternates like Mitch Trubisky was a Pro bowl alternate. Eric Kramer was a Pro bowl alternate. Kramer's stat wise the greatest single season passer in Bears history. And he's kind of a journeyman. Cutler had a couple good years, but even he couldn't break 4,000. It's. That's about it. Yeah. So once again, what are the expectation levels when they're drafting a quarterback and therefore the wide receivers? If you don't have a good quarterback, chances are you don't have a good wide receiver. But Caleb Williams, I think it's a great place for him because you have a great coach there. They do have weapons and I think that they have built an offense around Caleb Williams. Now this is up to Caleb Williams and you know, this ratchets up the pressure. When this book comes out, this will resurface. He'll probably have to talk to the media. Once again, maybe his dad issues an apology, but this was a palace coup. They were trying to avoid the Chicago Bears. I know he wanted to go to Minnesota, but Minnesota was what, fourth pick. They took J.J. mcCarthy. The Bears wanted this guy and they got him. So I don't know if the story progresses from here. Yes, it is. It's a weird spot to be in to defend the Bears as an organization while also saying, hey, they just draft poorly. It's like, it's like this. It's like, yes, exactly like you're the reason why it's so bad. But it's like, hey, you can't really blame the Bears. I mean They're a good franchise. They just happen to draft poorly. Yes, that's exactly what dad is saying. That's exactly what he's saying. They're a bad place to go because they don't know what they're doing. Okay, but what happened first that, you know, had bad front office or you had bad quarterbacks, and then quarterbacks didn't play like they went to die. Right. Are. Are the Browns making quarterbacks bad or quarterbacks making the Browns bad? I don't know, but I think it's the Browns. I feel. I feel like it's the Browns. I saw where Joe Flacco, he's like, I'm not here to be a mentor to these kids. They're probably asking him to buy. Buy him, buy them beer. But he said, I'm here to. I'm competing. And then Kenny Pickett said, man, I learned so much being in Philadelphia that I'm ready to compete. Then I hear all. Shador Sanders is lighting it up in practice. So your guess as good as mine. I do think Shador Sanders will be the starting quarterback for the Browns at some point this season. Yes. Paul, let's say you guys had a son who was going to be the top pick of the NFL draft. Which. Which team would concern you the most? Let's say historically and maybe recently? Jets, Bears, Browns, Other. I'd have to say. Let's think about it now. Although I always look at the top, and the jets ownership is terrible, and I think it trickles down from there, because if you're not a good owner, you're not making good decisions or you get involved in decisions, you don't trust the people you have in place. I don't think it's an accident that the jets are habitually bad. The Browns, I don't trust that organization, ownership either. You know, sometimes you can have the right people in place, but then the people above them don't let them do their job, and therefore, they're, you know, kind of restricted. The Raiders with Mark Davis, that's always something to keep an eye on, because you're not quite sure, you know, now that you have Tom Brady in there, maybe. Maybe it's a different feel in the building. But see, let's see. So you had Browns and you had the Jets. Who else? The Bears. Bears in there. What that would concern you, I would say, you know, with Ben Johnson being hired from the alliance, it kind of is like a current cleanup, but their history is not great. No, but I'm going to trust Ben Johnson in this situation. I'm going to look at the Bears differently because of Ben Johnson and maybe Aaron Glenn is a taskmaster with the jets and turns them around a little bit. Kevin Stefanski, you know, might be on a make or break year with that team, which might not be fair to him, but usually get, you know, three, four years. But he's got a quarterback situation that is not good right now. What other team would Carolina be in there? I don't trust that ownership there. Yes, yes. Ritzy what direction are the Arizona Cardinals going in these days before post the Steelers Super Bowl? Like what's really going on with the Cardinals? Yeah, we keep waiting for them. We keep, you know, Marvin Harrison Jr. The third and you know Kyler Murray and this is the year and a couple of years ago. Then they start out through the first nine games that they were really good. Then all of a sudden it just tailed off. But now I'd put Arizona probably under that umbrella. Yeah, probably. All right, let me take a break, update our poll results and our play of the day right after this. What's on your mind today? Hey, Dan, good to hear your voice. Listen, yesterday you said Larry Bird could potentially fall out of the top 10 and I fell off my stool. I think you. I'm glad you're retiring because I think you're losing a brother. There's no way this dude falls out of the top five when. When Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Magic, Kobe, Jalen Rose, Michael Cooper all say he can never follow the top five. I'll take their opinion over most, even Michael Jordan said that Bird is parallel to me. I can't put him ahead of me or behind me. And I don't know if you just seen Michael Cooper just came out and said that. The former Lakers, Kareem and Magic, they were all in a room the other day and it was hard for them to understand why people are just now realizing how great Bird was. And when AI in a hundred years you ask them who's the greatest basketball player ever? It's going to spit out Larry Bird because he's the just the greatest fundamental ball player ever. And Dan, I think you need to do what Colby did. Kobe used to say, why are people thinking Larry's so great? He looks slow and he can't jump and he's white. And he went on YouTube and what? And after going to Kareem and Magic, he went on YouTube and watched four hours of Larry Bird and put Larry Bird in his top five and said he could never get out. So when you said he's going to drop out of the top 10, Dan, I think it's time for you to go sit on YouTube and refresh your memory of what this guy did and how great he was as an all around basketball player. I respect your opinion because you know a lot about basketball. But when you said that yesterday, I bought eyeball fell off my chair, dude. So Dean, how many NBA finals did you go to to watch Larry in person? In person? Yeah. None. Okay. I did. So I was there in 1984, so I@ least got to see him do these things. That's why same thing with Michael Jordan. Got to see those things in person. So I pride myself in being able to have witnessed everybody except for Bill Russell play all the greats. I and I bring this up because we want to put new in and I don't know if Larry shouldn't fall out of the top 10. What did I say about Larry when I said, let me give you a six year window and Larry is going to match up with anybody probably in the history of the game. And I said, what if we just did that? All these great players, we look at a six year window, then how do you rank these players? And maybe the ranking's different. Does Steph Curry get in there? He's the greatest shooter of all time now. And Larry's not the greatest fundamental player of all time. Okay. Michael Jordan is as good a fundamental player. Let's be honest here. Jordan played for Dean Smith. You had to be fundamentally sound. You're not going to get any argument from me on Larry's greatness and what he did and when he did it on display, wanted the ball, all of that, I love it. But I don't know, if somebody says, does Tim Duncan belong in there higher than Larry Bird? So that's where I think you have to be honest. We live on memories, and we, we all do. We hold on for dear life. That's why nobody's going to say LeBron is better than Michael Jordan. Well, his career, the totality of his career is better than Michael Jordan's. So there's always, you know, starting points. But when it comes to watching Larry Bird, I got to see a lot of it. So I respect your passion and your opinion, but Larry might fall out of the top 10 one day. Oh, I know. And you're entitled to your, your opinion as well. We're kind of agreeing of Larry's greatness. Does Joker, if Joker wins another MVP or wins another MVP in another title, do you have a conversation? I mean, Joker's doing things that nobody else has ever done in the history of the game. Steph Curry doing things that never been done in the history of the game. You just have to be fair to today's player because we all get caught up in our era, our generation, and we hold on for dear life. Those are memories. I understand all of that. I'm not saying Bird does fall out. I think there's a, there's a chance that at some point he does. I don't think that's, you know, blasphemous to say, because I am respecting the accomplishments of today's player as well. Now, if you said, I got my life on the line, I need somebody to take a shot for me. Larry's certainly on the short list there. That's for sure. Game to win. Larry's on the short list there. Yeah, Paulie. Yeah. I think what you were saying yesterday, you were almost like analyzing like a stock. This is how history is going to treat these guys. You weren't dispatching Larry Bird's career. You're saying, hey, it was 10 unbelievable years. But the back injury, people may use that against him down the road when they say LeBron played 20 and Larry played 11. But if I can look at Larry's a six year window there and I'll put it up against LeBron. In fact, I take Larry's best six year run over LeBron's, but LeBron's going to be, you know, recognizes the second greatest player of all time. I understand all of that. You know, we're already trying to move Bill Wilt Chamberlain out of the top 10. And we, we tend to do that. Sometimes you forget about greatness, maybe in a different generation, because we validate, you know, we authenticate Bill Russell winning championships. Well, Wilt played at that time and averaged 50 a game. So you can't go. Well, the competition wasn't any good unless you use the argument against Bill Russell to say, yeah, but you kept all your players and had a lot of plumbers and electricians in there. So it's just being fair, that's all. And I apologize for using the. How many times did you see Larry play in the NBA clubs? Yeah, you went right for that. Yeah, I did, but I was there. I was there. I was there. I was there. I was there in 84. Oh boy. All right, one hour in the books. Two more to go. I'm in a great mood today. And Stan? Yeah, I'm in a great mood.
