Big day in Oklahoma City Thunder parade today. They even sent out a notice. They gave you parade etiquette. What to do, what to bring, hydrate, make sure that you don't lose sight of your kids. Biggest bring a snack. They gave you etiquette. Well, they haven't had a parade out there, at least not a professional parade, I don't think. But they gave you some tips on, on how to enjoy the parade. I think what's going to happen now there's this rush to is OKC one of the great teams of all time? And the answer is no, they're not. They had a great regular season, but you were pushed to seven games by Denver and pushed to seven games by Indiana. Great teams don't get pushed to seven games, not twice in a playoff series. Now that doesn't mean that they're not in the hall of very good teams. I think what's going to happen this will work in reverse. It might be two or three years from now when we look back at OKC and say, you know what, they were a great team because we're going to see what's going to happen in the next couple of years. Now that's not fair to them. I know Oklahoma City Thunder fans get upset when we don't crown them and then praise them. Well, we crown them. We have praised them. But don't look for this. You know, the fast pass to go to great teams of all time. You're not OKC right now is a one hit wonder and it's a big hit. But let's see what you do. What do you add to your catalog that will determine greatness? You know, those standalone teams, there have been standalone teams. They won that one time. It's really hard to repeat. And that's what we have to factor in. That's why we can say, well, it's parody, but trying to sustain greatness. That's why dynasties are rare for a reason. Remember, the Celtics were taking over the sport, and then all of a sudden, they're not. Jason Tatum goes down. Who knows if he's going to play this next season? Go back to 2014. Seattle Seahawks. Oh, my God, that defense. Young, intimidating, dominant, young quarterback. Pete Carroll, your head coach. That dynasty never materialized. OKC is talented. SGA is a star. Jalen Williams, Chad Holmgren, kind of in the on deck circle. Dynasties are not just about being young and good. It's about evolving, it's about enduring. It's about delivering again and again and again. Okay, see, just enjoy the. The parade. Enjoy the title. You earned it. But greatness isn't handed out at a parade. You got to earn it. Every single week, every single season, every single day, you got a banner. Getting that second banner is going to be even tougher. And this is where we sometimes forget greatness. You know, Jordan never went to a Game seven. That's brought up all the time. But that's important to remember. He. He went against good teams. Utah jazz, they won 60 games. It felt like every year they were a really good team. I thought that Seattle SuperSonics team was as talented as any team I'd seen in a long time. But they. They won when they needed to win. They didn't need to get to a Game seven. You were on the ropes. You could have lost to Denver and you could have lost to the Pacers. If Halliburton stays healthy, we have a different outcome, in my opinion. But okc, you won it. And Shea Gilgis was a wonderful player. Now we want to have him. We want to put him into the Kobe category or Jordan as a scorer. It's. I know we want to do it. We want this immediacy. Instead of saying, how about just let this play out a little bit? There's nothing wrong with, you know, tapping the brakes on this. You had a wonderful season. Let's don't make it more than what it was, a wonderful season. Enjoy the parade. I can't wait till opening night. You celebrate. You have a banner, championship rings. You've earned every bit of that. But let's be fair. Put it in context. You were pushed to seven games by an Indiana team that was the biggest underdog in the last 25 years in the NBA Finals. You were pushed to seven games by a Denver team that fired its head coach two weeks before the postseason. Put it in context. And in two or three years from now, we may look back and go, you know what? We missed that. Or, okay, they won their one title. All right, we'll come up with a poll question here. Seaton, you got one for hour one? Yeah, I think I do. It's a topic that we were all kicking around before the show, but there's been a bunch of Achilles tears lately. Coincidence or is there a reason? All right, we reached out to a Harvard educated orthopedic surgeon who has been on the show before, former offensive lineman Dr. Mark Adducks. And he's going to join us a little bit later on because you start to think about it. Okay, Tatum, Halliburton and Dame Achilles tears. Kevin Durant with Achilles tear. I'm trying to remember Isaiah Thomas tore his Achilles late in his career. But I'm trying to remember growing up in the 60s or the 70s, if anybody tore their Achilles in, in the NBA. Now, you can say today's athlete is so much better in God. Absolutely. But you would think, I mean, Aaron Rodgers is not athletic anymore. He tore his Achilles. Dan Marino, not athletic. He tore his Achilles just going back to pass. Nobody hit him. So that's why I'm curious about this. And the surgery, by the way, Halliburton had surgery in New York yesterday. It was successful. It's always successful. But I don't know when he's coming back that really affects the East. Tatum. I don't know when he's coming back, but Halliburton said, hey, if I had to do it all over again, I would have done it the same way. I don't think I would do it the same way. If I knew that I was going to tear my Achilles and it's going to impact next season for my team, I probably would have said, you know, maybe, maybe use me sparingly. Yes, Marvin. So if you knew you were going to lose, would you still do it? If I knew I was going to lose, well, okay, I, I don't want to impact my team next year if you know you're going to blow out your Achilles. So he gets to game seven. All of a sudden he's made a couple of moves and he goes, hey, take me out now. In the moment, everybody's going to crucify him. But if, if we know what the end result's going to be, then of course I'm not going to blow out my Achilles in a game we're going to lose or I can't have an impact on and it's going to Impact my team next year. Yeah. Yeah, Paul. All right. To put this in perspective, we're going to have to go back to Kurt Schilling in 04. We discussed this on this show a zillion years ago. If Tyrese Halliburton on going into game seven can sign up for. I'm going to play seven minutes, play well, tear my Achilles and be out for next year. And we're going to win a title. Oh, well. Win a title. Well, that's where it's an actual discussion. Would you sign on a piece of paper to lose your entire next season? It's my team going to need me. You're going to play seven. He's only playing seven minutes. So you're going to. This is based off my teammates or you roll the dice. And whatever happens in game seven happens if you don't sign that piece of paper. We asked Chilling that on this air. He said he'd be glad to. With his ankle thing. Yeah, but I don't. I don't know what he was risking with that ankle other than that that ankle looked terrible, but I don't know if he was risking his career. Right. Halliburton with his Achilles. You're never the same. I mean, you can, you know, pretend that you are. I'm back and better than ever. It's like micro fracture surgery with your knee. I had that, you know, Amari Stoudemire, you know, a lot of NBA players have had it. You don't come back from it. There's certain injuries where, okay, you're going to be. This is as good as you're going to be. I think we've come pretty far with the Achilles. But if you said, I'm signing up for playing seven minutes, I'm blowing out my Achilles, we're going to go win the title. I'd say, why don't you guys go win the title? I'm going to sit here and watch, and then I'll be here next year to play with you. Yes, Todd. I'd be concerned, and I think most athletes would be. I may never get a chance to play for a title, a game seven. This could be my only chance. And even if I'm going to run the risk of not being able to play next year, how could you not be part. Even if you're not a huge part, but you're going to sign up for seven minutes. Seven minutes you got on the court and then you're out. Some small factor. Whatever you. But you were on the court next year. Yeah, it may Never. You may never be able to play again in a championship game. Look at Dan Marina there. You guys, you get one chance, and then after that you're done forever. Not even sniffing a chance to play for a ring. I think you got to do it. I don't want to be out there for seven minutes knowing that I'm going to be in surgery in a couple of days and out for the next season. My teammates are going to win that title, but they're probably not. Actually. They're unlikely to because of the odds with you being out. Oklahoma City would be an overwhelming favorite in that game. So that's the risk. Well, it doesn't matter. They were an overwhelming favorite every single game. They were favored by nine and a half in the championship game. It didn't matter about Halliburton. They were favored by nine and a half. Yes, Marvin, but Halliburton would be a. He'd be in a Willis Reed type spot if he came out there and he did the exact same thing, started out hot, and the rest of his team, Nemhard, Naismith, whoever took him home, he would still be looked at as a. As a legend. Yeah, but what happened to Willis Reed after that game? What happened next, next season? Does anybody remember when Willis came out and only played a few minutes, hit a couple of buckets, he was done. Does anybody remember what his season was like the following? No, they don't. Maybe he wasn't even available. I mean, I know that he had knee surgery probably later in his career, probably didn't play much longer after that. But here's Halliburton, who's young. I would not. I would not go if I knew that I was going to be out next season. And it's. I know it's a crazy hypothetical because if you go into the game and you're going to say to Rick Carlisle, hey, if I go out there, I'm going to give you seven minutes, I'm going to hit three threes and I'm going to blow up my Achilles. What would Rick Carlisle do if he knew that? Halliburton says, look, it feels like I'm going to blow out my Achilles. Rick Carlisle is going to say to Halliburton, you tell me what you want to do. But if I knew I was going to blow it out and we were going to go on and win. But would you win if I'm only playing seven minutes? Yeah. Paul Willis Reed going back to the 73 finals. He came out and became the hero. He played one more season in the NBA. 19 games and then retired due to injury. No, the game was 1970. Okay, I'm sorry. 70. Oh, so 1970. He was the MVP that year. He played in those playoffs. He came back and was still a good player for a couple more years. Okay, yeah, he got the MVP in the finals, but it should have been Walt Frazier's, but it was in. You know, he was very inspirational there. Absolutely. Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of the Dan Patrick show. First hour, brought to you by Mako. All right, Seaton, so what was the question for the first hour? Is it just a coincidence or is there a reason for all of these Achilles injuries? Okay, yeah, I think it was. I don't know if it must have been last week. I would imagine maybe the week before. We did a whole topic about should Tyrese Halliburton sit to throw off Oklahoma City or they're prepared for him. Why don't you just sit, rest it and you know, maybe that would actually play into the patrons hands better. Well, I wondered if it would. It would make him stronger if you sat him out the second half of that game. They got blown out and then the following game. Yeah, I think it was. Do you sit out game six? Yes, for game seven. If I knew, if I knew that he would be healthier and you were playing at home so you were going to get everything the Pacers had. If you're confident the Pacers can win the game at home, get to a game seven and then Halliburton is healthier then. Yes, but I said I would have sat him out in the second half of game five. When you're getting smoked. I would had him sit out and then, you know, just. But once again, former NBA player said if that was the regular season, you're missing at least a week, if not longer with that injury. Halliburton rolled the dice, Indiana rolled the dice, Rick Carlisle rolled the dice. So nobody can be upset about this. Everybody, I think, knew what was at stake here. And Halliburton tried and sent out a tweet, a lengthy tweet. You know, you know, he talks about the mental aspect of this. You know, that's, that's what happens with injuries. Like you can get hurt and then you have surgery, then the depression sets in when you're alone, when you're doing rehab and you're not able to shoot. There's nothing fun going on. And it's just, you know, you now you'll have a physical therapist there. But that's what he's talking about, like the mental hurdle that he's going to have to overcome. That's the hard part with injuries, in my opinion, and as many injuries as I've had. It's when you're going to PT and you're going God, or you're breaking through scar tissue and you're like, and you know, it feels like the next day is the same and the next day is the same. And then all of a sudden you get this little glimmer of hope that, hey, don't need your crutches or hey, you don't need Percocet. Hey, you don't need to ice it. Every like just little things like that. Tatum's going through that right now. Dame and now Halliburton. But the coincidental part of this, man, I don't buy that. Just feels like there's something different. These are all marquee players. Yes, Marvin, I feel bad for the Pacers from this standpoint. They're going back into irrelevancy after such a great two months because next year when you're going into the season, no one's going to be talking about the Pacers because there's no Halliburton. And so they're just going to go back into being a middle of the pack team in the east until he comes back. So that hurts them as far as notoriety. They were trying to build a star and now they don't have them. We'll take a break. We'll get to your phone calls. Coming up. There was a trade yesterday last night in the NBA, Celtics and the Blazers. We'll talk about that. The more I look at the Rockets Suns deal, the stronger I feel about one team in this. We'll be back with this. Take a break. 877-3DP show. This is the Dan Patrick Show. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. NBA Draft A Two Day Affair and I think what's happening and, and I understand why the NBA would do two days. Now you're probably saying, really, do you need two days? No, you don't. But if I can give you kind of an introductory offer of here's Some players are going to be playing in the NBA. You know the problem that baseball has? You just had LSU win the national title. Well, those players aren't going from national title getting drafted to them being in a lineup this September. Not going to happen. They're going to disappear for two or three years. So you don't get that immediate, oh, I saw that guy and then I'm going to watch him play for the Cincinnati Reds and you know, they send him down to the minors for two, three, four years and then they come back up and you go, okay, I remember him, he played at Vanderbilt. NBA, it's different. That guy just played in the NCAA Tournament. He's going to be on a roster in the NBA next year. But also the second day, the second day is kind of those players that maybe you haven't heard of, maybe they're in Europe and maybe they're seniors that you did see a lot and they're going to get drafted, they're going to get an opportunity to make a roster. But also the NBA is saying to you, hey, tune in. Here's some guy that may be playing for your team next year. Maybe you don't know anything about him. A lot of these players you probably don't know much about because they only spent one year at Baylor or Vandy and now they're going to come into the NBA. But if you're the NBA and this is about social media, the NBA cares about social media, probably relies on social media more than any other sport. And younger, the younger fans are consuming this. So you might say, who cares about the second round of the draft? Okay, well then don't watch it. But for those who do, they're. They're consuming it for a different reason there. It's almost like you're getting Cliff Notes here for the upcoming season of some players to keep an eye on. You may not know VG BJ Edgecomb, but you will. And I think that's the interesting part. And imagine, you know, when Joker second round, although last year's second round was probably more interesting than the first round with Bronnie James Nemhard of the Pacers, like, you're going to have players that you go, oh, okay. And I think what the NBA is doing is why not use prime time and why not give this product, put this product out there? Because the draft is. People are going to tune in. Now, you might only tune in just to see Cooper Flag and what he wears and what he says, and then you move on from it. But there's going to be players who are drafted, who are going to contribute next season in the postseason. I mean, you're just seeing guys and you go. And it never, it never ceases to amaze me where you'll watch a guy in college and go, boy, he's going to be a good pro. And then all of a sudden, he kind of maxed out. He maxed out in college. One of those players was Purvis Ellison. He played at Louisville, won a national title as freshman year. I didn't know if he got any better. Never nervous Purvis. And he got to the NBA and he played a long time, but he was, he was a good player. But I thought, wow, he's that good as a freshman, you're seeing that. When I saw Anthony Davis as a freshman, and I'm thinking, wow, he's got, you know, ball handling skills for a big guy. And I thought that he was going to be the big surprise. I remember coming in saying that that guy's going to be a star. And I don't even think he scored in the national title game or didn't make a field goal, but you can see these guys. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. So I enjoy when I see somebody and, you know, Jay Billis will tell me a little bit more about them or you're going to see this in the second round. This guy's been playing in Europe, you know, got guys who are professionals in Europe. Right now. There's like a 15 year old. He's playing professionally in Europe just like Luca did. Yes, Mars. And in the past maybe five or six years, you'll see guys that contribute really big to Their teams a la Draymond Green. People forget he was a second round pick because he's been a star for such a long time. But also Chris Middleton, second round pick. So you don't know. So that's why a lot of people watch, like, oh, let me check this guy out. The Celtics are trading Drew Holiday to the Blazers for Anthony Simons and two second round picks. Simons averaged eight and a half three point attempts per game last season. That's 12th among players who played at least 50 games. This is a salary dump with the Celtics. I don't think Porzingis is going to be there next year. Going to be some changes now. How competitive can you be without Jason Tatum in a wide open east and you get a score. Simon's average 20. Feels like everybody averages 20 now in the NBA. But Drew Holiday is a wonderful player for a team leader. You know, people rave about him as the person he makes too much money. This is a salary cap dump. It feels like, you know, probably in the next to last year of his contract, you know, you go back with what's going on with San Antonio. San Antonio is the second pick in the draft, probably taking Dylan Harper. Well, you already got two, you know, got the Aaron Fox and you got Castle as well. Somebody's not going to be on that team, probably de' Aaron Fox because I think he's in the last year of his contract. So that's why when you're watching and you're going to, what's this team going to do? Who are they going to add, who are they going to subtract? And I think you're going to see a few moves here coming up prior to the draft or as a result of the draft. Also, Ace Bailey of Rutgers played with Dylan Harper. He doesn't want to go to certain teams. So he's trying to manipulate the draft or his agent is to get him to go to of all places, the Wizards or the Nets. Now maybe there's a bigger picture there where a team that has a couple of first round picks like Oklahoma City might go, yeah, maybe we give a couple of first round picks for Ace Bailey there. Somebody may swoop in, but he doesn't want to go to the team, doesn't want to go to. Philly didn't do interviews and I think he's basically saying New Orleans, the Nets or the Wizards. I can't remember when somebody said, man, I can't wait to go to the Wizards. But he might say, I can go there, I'd be a star. I Can play right away. I can get my touches as they like to say. Yes. Marvin, look, he's used to it. He went to Rutgers. He had the pick of the litter of any college he could have went to. You know what? I'm going to pick. Pick Rutgers. Yeah. So why not pick the Wizards? Okay. Or the Nets, even more relevant. Yeah. Not, not too far away. The other part of this, you know, the Rockets with Kevin Durant, Vincent Goodwill, our good buddy from Yahoo Sports, had a deep dive on Kevin Durant going to the Rockets. He'll join us coming up next hour. But you start to look at this with the Phoenix Suns, new ownership loves to command and put their, their stamp on a franchise. And we were at the super bowl in, in Arizona, and all of a sudden we heard the news that Kevin Durant had been traded to the Phoenix Suns. All these Suns fans were showing up, they had their jerseys on, they're excited, everything's great, which is fine. The problem is Bradley Beal. Bradley Beal with a no trade contract. So you're stuck with Bradley Beal, Jalen Green, who you got from the Rockets. Who it got? You know, they gave him a bad contract. It's a good contract for him, but a bad contract for the Phoenix Suns. And you got Devin Booker. Devin Booker is going to get paid. They'll extend him. Now what are you doing? Got three guys who are playing the same position. What are you doing? That's the problem. You go in, fire a coach or fire a couple of coaches and then all of a sudden, hey, I'm bringing in my Michigan State guys, which Matt Ishbia is a former walk on at Michigan State. This is where it gets dangerous, when owners come in and think they are really smart and these are some costly moves that they've made. What they gave up to get Durant in the first place. Even now, if I'm Phoenix, I've got to. Now it's going to sound crazy. I've got to get Reed shepherd in the trade with the Rockets. I have to get something out of this. Jalen Green is, you know, a guy who's going to score, but he's not a good shooter. You know, his percentages aren't good. You know he wasn't a big time player in the postseason and you know they did well by getting rid of him. You bring in Durant, okay, he's going to be 37. He's going to want a contract extension. Okay, what's he going to cost me? $60 million a year probably. But I do like what the Rockets are least trying to do, they might be a year ahead of schedule with those young kids. And Durant, you know, at age 37, I don't know if he's a top 10 player. I know his numbers kind of indicate, you know, you get 26 and 7 and 4 or something like that. Okay. And he, he's a. A 50, 40, 90 guy, too, still, for his career, or at least this past couple of years, he's done that. So I'm looking at the Phoenix Suns, and that's a mess. And then you look at what the Rockets got, and they didn't give up some of the younger players. That's what's amazing. Like, if you say, hey, we're gonna give you Jalen Jaylen. What? Yeah, we'll take him. You. I mean, well, I don't know. We're gonna have to think about that. Yes. Mark Thompson, the Thompson twin, has to be in that trade. If I'm. Yes. Reed shepherd gets to stay, too. I know he was the third pick in the draft. He's gonna be one of those guys where it's like, man, where'd he come from? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I just. Boy, what a mess. I mean, the Kevin Durant trades are going to set Phoenix back for years in a, In a West that is so competitive. And what do you have now? Do you trade Devin Booker to. What do you want in return? Now you got to take on these bad contracts, and then hopefully you get bad, you know, maybe you get some younger play. I don't. I don't even know how many draft picks they have. They probably don't even have their draft picks anymore. Like, that's a mess. And it was a couple years ago. You're playing in the NBA Finals. Yeah, Paulie. It does feel, though, like Houston, they took a few risks, and I think the risk of letting Green go was gutsy. This guy, people loved him as a score, a slasher guard, Jalen Green. And letting him go is. It's. It's one of those, you got to let something go to get something, and you hope for the best that he doesn't become a five time All Star. He's not going to. He's not going to. Then. Then it's the right move. Oh, absolutely. That's it in a nutshell. Absolutely the right move. They kept the people they wanted to keep. Now you can go, wow, he averaged 20. There are a lot of guys who average 20. Yeah, Mark. Zach Levine is the first guy I thought of as far as a player comparison. Where it's a guy that can put up numbers. Both of those guys are buckets, but it's going to take them 35 shots to get those buckets. I'd rather have Zach Levine's game than I would. I don't want either one of them. But yes, I mean, these guys get 20, but how many shots does it take for you to get 20? And the. The offense isn't going to revolve around Jalen Green. It's still Devin Booker's team, but you got the Bradley Beal situation. Imagine showing up to work and knowing that management is like, God, he's got a no trade clause. Hey, Bradley, how are you? Well, I'm good, Tom. Great to see you. It's him and LeBron with no trade causes. He's making $50 million a year. My goodness. Who. Anyhoo, Andrew in Washington. Hi, Andrew. What's on your mind today? Good morning, Dan. Dan, it's. Thanks for taking my call. Kind of had like some injury questions and then a random trivia fact that came out of the finals that I remembered. But my injury thing is you're. I think breaking up scar tissue is probably the worst part of pt, but also the part of PT that they miss is not that you have to go in for, but you have to do at home to continue the gradual healing of the area and movement. So how much are you willing to do when nobody else is looking is a key to PT success? I guess my question, with these cast strains that are happening and Achilles that are popping, are there certain grades of strains? If we ask the doctor that inevitably your Achilles is going to pop, it's just a matter of time. Or is there? Or is there? You know, if you rest it, will it not pop? Because I'm just thinking that maybe if they got a percentage, like, hey, this is going to happen no matter what. So go ahead and go out there and do as much as you can because this is a critical time. They just do that because they know it's going to pop eventually because they've already put too much strain, there's already too much inflammation and different things in there. So that was just my question about the cast drains. Then my weird random fact that came out of the finals is this is that OKC is the first team to win the NBA Finals when losing a playoff game by 40 or more points in the same year. Okay, Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. And once again, I started the show where I just, I want to have people have context with this team. They won the title. Congratulations. But they did beat a team was the biggest underdog in the last 25 years and you went to a seventh game with them and you went to seven games with Denver. Shea Gilgis can hold his head high. He was great. He wasn't great in game seven shooting wise, but he did everything that you want a star to do. Now does that mean we put him in the Kobe Bryant category? No, but you can say he reminds me of Kobe in certain situations. That's fair. Is he Kobe? No. Is he Mike? No. Paul Pierce? No. But he's a really good player. Not exciting, but he is unbelievably talented at. He knows what he can do and he knows that you know what he can do. And he still scores. And I love that people knew what Iverson was going to do. You couldn't stop him or TMAC or any of these great score. Like that's what's fun about. And people don't understand being a scorer. Every single night there's scouting report like they know get him there help here. And those guys still put up 30 and I. Indiana was geared to stop him and I, I think they did a pretty good job on him. Believe it or not. I thought those young guys did a pretty good job and he didn't do well in game seven. I mean it's set up for Indiana to win that game. Williams and SGA did not shoot well. Yes. Mark Nemhard from the Pacers, he's friends with sga. They grew up to you. Right. He knows his game inside and out. And I was watching a like film study on NBA TV and they're like, he knows exactly what he's going to do and he still couldn't stop him. Yeah, it's got the bag. Yes. Well, certain guys like sga, they don't have a move. Their move is to counter punch. It's like they get you in the middle, the 15 foot mark and they just back and forth and back and forth and when you commit they go the other way and they hit a 12 footer. It's not exciting, but it's efficient. It's like Luca. It's just like Luca. Yes. Yeah. But Luke is a far better. He, he shoots deep. SGA doesn't shoot, you know, he's not a big three point shooter. Luca can shoot really deep. Luca is. Yeah, he kind of uses his body. He likes contact, then he moves. He'll move you one way to go another way. Yeah, in some ways I can see that. I, I just think sometimes when you go, man, he reminds me of Kobe, there's a couple of moves that he has that remind me of Kobe. There's a difference. When you say, man, he's kind of reminds me of Kobe. There's no. There's no other comparison with Kobe. Even Jordan, like, they were different. Even though Kobe wanted to be Mike, Kobe still had his own offensive personality there. Yeah, Paulie. I was watching Kobe clips the other day, and he would get in the low post and he'd keep that pivot foot as long as he could, and he'd go one way, another way, and you'd commit, and then he'd just do like a little. Little scoop underneath you. And it was not exciting, but, man, it was efficient. And Jordan, you know, everybody was like, man, he's going down on the low post. We had a height advantage, and he would just. I had a gotcha on my hip, and it was death. He had a signature move on the post, and he would score. He wanted you down there. Yeah, Marv, who's better? Michael Jordan. Young Michael Jordan. Old. Like, to me, those are two best players ever. Young Michael Jordan and old Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan, 1988 might be the best player I've ever seen. Michael Jordan in 1998 might be the second best player I've ever seen. We'll take a break. Our play of the day is up next. In the last decade, the only players with more home runs prior to the All Star break than Cal Raleighs are Aaron Judge and Shohei Otani. Also the last player with more home runs through their first 76 games played in a season was Barry Bonds at 39 back in 2001. That's your play of the day. Flag coming up tomorrow night it'll be day one of the NBA draft and then probably Ron Harper's son, Dylan Harper will go number two to San Antonio. What I want, like I'm curious, Miami Heat and the San Antonio spurs didn't go all in to get Kevin Durant and he wanted to go to one of those places. And then I thought, why aren't they going all in? Durant's going to be 37. He's going to want a lot of money, contract extension. But I was surprised. San Antonio, you get Durant. See, they didn't want to give up the second pick in the draft or you could have given up. They're not going to take de' Aaron Fox. You know, Castle was the rookie of the year. So you start to wonder about these teams, what was Miami going to have to get give up to get Kevin Durant? And that's why the, what the Rockets did was really wonderful because they had a core that they were trying to keep intact and then they could give the impression they're giving you something. Hey, all these second round picks and we're going to give you a guy who scored 20, okay, that's still not the guy to get because I would, I would have wanted Thompson because that guy wants to play defense and he is different. Now I got some scores, now I get somebody. But they didn't want to give up. You know, they didn't want to get rid of him and rightfully so. I just think Phoenix could have done better in that situation. But why didn't San Antonio go all in Miami? Yeah. Paul, do you think San Antonio thought that Durant might hamper the development of Wembanyama as the alpha dog there? Well, I don't know if either one is an alpha dog. Wemby seems like he's poised to be. This is going into year three. Yeah. But I don't, I don't know. Like his mental Durant's, you know, people are always going to talk about is Duran a leader. Like I don't even know what that means anymore. If I go out there and I get 30 and I hit big shots, am I leading or if I'm the rah rah guy and I'm saying, go out there. Come on. We're gonna play hard. We're gonna win. Win, win, win. My leader. I think we. We tend to look at the latter part and you're like, you're a leader, man. Look at. He's vocal. Sometimes the guy who just goes out there and says, give me the ball. Yeah, you're kind of leading by example. Tom in North Carolina. Good morning, Tom. What's on your mind today? Adp? I was wondering where you would rank the time that Kobe Torres Achilles got up and hit two free throws. I wonder if it's a one seed. I know you got Kirk Gibson, but this being a season ended injury, I'm kind of wondering where you would put that. Well, the fact that I would say Kurt Gibson, because what's at stake. It's the World Series. You're a big underdog, and you're facing a Hall of Fame closer, and they didn't even think Gibby could swing the bat. And the fact that he went up there, everybody was shocked. And then there was nothing else he could do except for try to hit a home run. And he did. I mean, injuries will affect people differently. Like, you can. I've, you know, torn a ligament. My knee knew I did it, but I. I kept walking. I was running. I knew it. And then all of a sudden I walked. And I even said to the person, I said, I just. I just tore a ligament. They're like, how do you know? I go, I know. But Kobe, you know, his Achilles, it wasn't the same as Halliburton. Halliburton needed help off the floor. Like, he was in pain. Aaron Rogers just knew what he did. Even Durant, like, you know what you did, and sometimes your body takes over and all of a sudden it kind of, I don't know, puts you in a different catatonic state of, all right, that just happened, but you might not feel the pain. I mean, Kobe getting up and shooting the free throws is awesome, but Gibby going to the plate in the World Series and home ring off, Heck, that's big stuff. One hour in the books already on this Tuesday. Two more to go. Minister of humor, Fritzi Seaton, Marv Paulie, yours truly. We're back after this.
