Guaranteed Human. It's only natural. You see, these golfers mistaken the true green lawns for an actual golf course. Have you noticed that?
Dan Patrick
Come on.
Paulie Fusco
No, no, I'm serious. They're the official lawn care treatment provider, the PGA Tour, so they know what it takes to get golf course quality lawns.

But we move on. Every day is the super bowl and Todd has been lifting up everybody's spirits. And thank you, Todd, for being a better person than me today because once again, if you're not nominated, you can't lose again.
Dan Patrick
So that's so how we have to look at it.
Paulie Fusco
All right. Darius Rucker, who wins awards, he will join us. Coming up. He's part of our bracket challenge. We'll check in with the Carolina Tar Heels and Mel Kuiper, draft expert, will stop by as well. Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock and we also are on NBC Sports Network as well. Good morning to our radio affiliates around the country numbering 400 cities that carry this previously award nominated program. Seaton poll question for the first hour and what are we going to go with in hour two?
Tyler
We got one here from Paul for the first hour. We didn't really get into this topic, but I know it's one that he's pretty hot on. Which is closer to competitive golf, TGL or liv just going with the letters there because it's fun.
Paulie Fusco
Well, live is more competitive than tgl. It is, yes. But it's actually outside they're actually playing golf. They're not hitting it into a screen. By the way, it's kind of disingenuous. The headline writers talking about Tiger woods returns to competitive golf. Okay, competitive. That's a lie. Is he in the Houston Open? No, he was playing in tgl. He had nine swings last night and it's on a simulator. So Tiger returned to competitive golf just like me because I play on this simulator here that, I mean, what are we doing? That's not competitive golf. When I see Tiger have to walk four days now that's competitive golf. Not this now is Tiger gearing up to play in the Masters. Okay, but that's not competitive golf. Last night that's where you get with your buddies, have a few beers and you hit. You know, it's like top golf. It's not competitive, but it'd be like if Patrick Mahomes, you saw the headline, returns to competitive play, and basically he was out throwing the football in the, you know, in the backyard with somebody. I could. He's not returning to competitive play. Tiger is not returning to competitive play. Maybe he will, but last night was not competitive play. It was a disingenuous headline there. And maybe he's going to play in the Masters, but Tiger's part of the ownership here. Okay? This is about Tiger with his investment, him and Rory. Serena's there, you know, you. They were trying to. Jason Kelce. They're trying to dress it up a little bit. I get it. It's well produced. It's different, but it's not competitive golf. And when I saw that headline, I thought, oh, he's going to be playing at Augusta. All of a sudden, somebody sends me a picture. Tiger's plane was in Augusta recently. Here is Tiger woods talking about competitive golf.
Dan Patrick
I, as I said, I've been trying. It's just this body is. Doesn't recover like it was when I was 24, 25. Doesn't mean I'm not trying. I've been trying for a while. I've had a couple bad injuries here over the past year that to fight through, and it's taken some time, but I keep trying. I want to play. I've loved the tournament. I love being there since when I was 19 years old. So it's meant a lot to me and my family and over the years. And I'm going to be there either way with the loop that's going up there as well as, you know, the Champions dinner. So that decision will have to come
Paulie Fusco
right down to the Friday before.
Dan Patrick
I don't know. We'll see how it goes. You know, I'll be practicing playing at home this week and keep trying to make progress.
Paulie Fusco
I hope he plays. It's better for the tournament. By the way, he looks like a defensive back. I mean, he is jacked, but if he can play, awesome. But here's the key. You got to walk. They don't give you a cart. That's what I want to know when I see Tiger walking. And by the way, that's not an easy course to walk. If I see him walking at Augusta, he's back at competitive golf. Not something on TGL last night.
Mario
Yes, Paul, he was using a cart last night.
Paulie Fusco
He was. Yes, I saw it. I didn't see the cart last night
Mario
eight feet at a time.
Paulie Fusco
877-3DP show Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. North Carolina needs a new basketball coach. Hubert Davis was fired. I'm looking at some of these gambling sites and the odds on favorite to be the next head coach is Billy Donovan. TJ Otzelberger, Tommy Lloyd, Nate Oates, Brad Stevens, Dusty May at Michigan. By the way, Dusty May has done an incredible job at Michigan the last two years. Wow. Sean May is in there. Todd Golden, Mark Few, Scott Drew, Danny Hurley, long odds there. Rick Matino is also on the list. These are silly. King Rice is on there. Former North Carolina great Jeff Lebo is also on there. But this is what I have just to let you know from my college basketball source who said I don't imagine Billy Donovan is in play at all nor Brad Stevens, although they could probably get an audience with Brad. I tend to think Tommy Lloyd at Arizona, Josh shirts at St. Louis make the most sense. He also mentioned Todd Golden, Nate Oates and also he says Michael Malone feels like a super creative and capable option there. But he's the former Nuggets head coach who's now studio analyst for the mothership.
Mario
Yes, Paul, just report just came out from Matt Norlander of CBS Sports. Brad Stevens already told UNC he's not in consideration, will not engage.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah, got a good gig going on with Boston but you know, you start to think about North Carolina and what's acceptable and I mentioned, you know, the timing of this. If I go back to when Caleb Wilson got hurt in practice, they're 24 and 6. So that's March 5th. He is coming back that weekend against Duke. He suffers a season ending injury that afternoon in practice. Here is a guy who's going to be probably a top five pick. North Carolina didn't win another game the rest of the year. Nineteen days later, Hubert Davis is fired. This is different. You would think that you go to a national title game a couple of years ago, you're winning 20, 24 games. That's not enough. This isn't Dean Smith, it's not Roy Williams, not even Bill Guthridge. Everybody's got money and not everybody is in love with Carolina blue. Plus you're going to be measured eight miles down the road with Duke. It's like why is Shire getting all these great recruits and we're not? Why is he still playing in the national, you know, at the NCAA championship And maybe the favorites are co favorites to win the title and look at us. But I gotta Be fair to Hubert. Now, I didn't, I didn't know the fit. I, I've been told since then that it was an awkward fit for Hubert Davis. He was a very good assistant coach. It's different when you're the head coach. But if their best player is playing now, you shouldn't blow a 19 point lead. Okay, first and foremost, second half, 19 point lead. Is that enough to get you fired? Well, it's not one thing that gets you fired. It's a couple of things and then all of a sudden you got your collectives, you got your boosters, and then that's when you start to, hey, wait a minute here. We don't want him back. Hey, I don't know if I'm going to be ponying up money for this program. If, I mean, this is how these things happen and Hubert Davis is on the outside looking in there at Carolina, it can happen that quickly. Loyalty, that's just a word and it's open to interpretation. I still think, think, you know, that's Carolina basketball, but I'm living in a different era. I'm from a different age today. Carolina, eh? Okay. Yeah.
Mario
Paulie, one thing I'd love to know about Carolina basketball is how engaged or not engaged is Michael Jordan over the past decade, have they offered him some type of role, ceremonial or real, and would he ever be interested?
Paulie Fusco
Okay, he's involved in nascar, fishing, golf. I don't know if Mike wants to be involved in meetings now. I would ask him, hey, can we use you as a closer? Hey, we got this guy. It's between us and Duke or us in Michigan. Can we get you on a phone call? I can't see Mike getting involved in the day to day, but you know, once again, I don't know what his motivation is for his alma mater. He does have, you know, the jump man gear that, you know, the school wears. But I don't know, I don't know what his motivation is, if there is motivation there to help his alma material. Because I don't know if Magic Johnson does anything at Michigan State. I mean, I don't. Magic's got unlimited funds. I mean, I, I got to be fair to everybody else. Is, is Christian Laitner or Grant Hill involved in Duke? And if so, are they giving money? Do they get on phone calls like those? I'd be curious about that. I think it's easy to single out Mike and say, come on Mike, help out your alma mater. Mike showed up for that first Belichick football game. I don't think he's been back on campus. He. I don't even think he stayed to halftime. It's like, can they not wear my jumpman gear? Yes.
Mario
Paulie, I know this is obvious, but wouldn't you pull out all the stops to engage Jordan and use his aura beyond just the shoes he gives?
Paulie Fusco
Yeah.
Mario
With parents, with recruits. I know the. The dollar signs are everything, but he seems to be above that.
Paulie Fusco
He loves what he loves, plays 36 holes a day. He loves fishing, competitive fishing, and he. His NASCAR team has been unbelievable. I don't know if Mike misses basketball. Maybe the next time Mike Chico sits down with Michael, he can ask him about being involved in North Carolina basketball. That might be next year. Yes, Marvin.
Dan Patrick
I think Michael Jordan misses playing basketball. I don't think he wants to be around it, per se, day to day.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah, I agree. So that's the poll question for the second hour of the program. Satan.
Tyler
Yeah, we got. We got two up there right now. We have one from Paul and we have one from Marvin.
Paulie Fusco
Oh, yeah, yeah. Okay. All right. 8, 7, 7, 3 DP show, by the way, the automated balls and strikes is coming. It's happening now. You got opening night. You got the Yankees against the Giants. Major leaguers have been weighed and measured, and this year, it's. It's far more serious. And teams are mandated by Major League Baseball to take measurements between 10am and noon local time on their appointed day. So no shoes, no hat, knees exposed, heels together, back against the wall, no slouching. They are measuring for strike zones. They are measuring for automated balls and strikes. Gavin Lux, he was listed at 6:2 last season. His official listing is 511.
Mario
That's a shot.
Paulie Fusco
Bo Naylor went from being listed at 6ft to 5 9. Now baseball is saying, hey. With the introduction of the ABS system, using the player's height to determine the strike zone, baseball is doing formal measurements of every baseball player. It's coming on the way. Baseball. Coming up tonight, the Giants and the Yankees. All right, a couple of phone calls here, if you're just joining us. We were not nominated for a sports Emmy this year, so the first time in six years. But I would like to congratulate all the shows that were nominated in our category. Congratulations. And keep this in mind. You're all winners. No matter what happens that night that they hand out that lovely trophy, you're all winners in my book. Zach in Knoxville. Hi, Zach. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Adp. Thanks for taking my call. Would Mario's editing of that video be a metaphorical? Airball. And would you say that Nick Wright was there to catch the rebound and put it back in?
Paulie Fusco
Wow, that's a, that's a callback. The auaa where Mario. So Mario doesn't even have to take a shot for his team to win. And he stares at Fritzi, who's trying to play defense. And Mario shoots an airball and the put back. They lost the game. That would have put them in the championship. Seaton was the captain of that. Mario, arguably one of the worst oh my God.
Tyler
Sports moments for me in my entire life.
Paulie Fusco
When you walked off the floor, like that's when it mattered. Like you could see, like you're. You're going to go and play in the championship game. Yeah. And Mario just has to hold on to the ball. Five seconds to go. Four seconds to go. Stares at Fritzi, shoots an air ball. 2A days had the put back and you lost. Yes.
Tyler
You know, and it's too bad because, like, I could have just held onto the ball and not passed it.
Paulie Fusco
That's true.
Tyler
But that, man, did that feel like so cheap, you know, like it felt like, ah, man, that's not the spirit of the game, like play until the whistle kind of thing. I. I got to admit, I just didn't think when I swung a pass over to Mario that he was going to air ball it. Tyler was going to play no defense and two, it was going to have a put back to win.
Caller
Yeah.
Paulie Fusco
Pauling.
Mario
The irony is Mario is the director of the show that's on live right now and has not shown that clip on the show.
Paulie Fusco
You would think the director would show that his airball.
Tyler
An Emmy caliber director would show that clip.
Paulie Fusco
Yes. As a journalist. As a journalist.
Mario
He just gave you the Mutombo.
Dan Patrick
No, no, no.
Paulie Fusco
He's an adjunct professor, by the way.
Tyler
That was the worst.
Paulie Fusco
Yes. Yes. Todd, did we ever look at prop
Dan Patrick
bets where he needed one more basket?
Paulie Fusco
And now I'm starting to think in
Dan Patrick
this world that we live in, maybe there was a reason why he shot
Paulie Fusco
that didn't even care about winning or
Tyler
losing Poly market a thing yet he just swung that.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah. Maybe it was your defense, Todd. No, I know.
Dan Patrick
I scared him for sure.
Paulie Fusco
That's the reason why he shot. Yeah. You'll never admit that that lockdown defender you were out there had my wristbands right in your face. You. You were Victor Wembanyama that day. Yes, but.
Tyler
But, you know, I couldn't say it in the moment, but I don't know how many years it's been now, six, seven years, whatever. It's been that rule about airballs can
Paulie Fusco
just go back up as garbage.
Tyler
That's the worst rule.
Paulie Fusco
But that's. That's streetball, man.
Tyler
Yeah. No, it shouldn't be.
Dan Patrick
No, it is.
Paulie Fusco
That's the way it is.
Tyler
Not when I grew up.
Paulie Fusco
The way it is.
Tyler
Yeah, you had to take it back out past the foul line like real men.
Paulie Fusco
No, only if it hit the rim. You have to go back out. Foul line extended. Nope. Airball put back soft. Soft. That's when I realized how much you guys cared. It was terrible basketball, but it mattered. In fact, that's the motto. It's terrible basketball, but it matters. What? Todd, I was so happy.
Dan Patrick
I think I was just running around in the parking lot as if we won, like, the NBA title over something that was so foolish.
Paulie Fusco
More of your phone calls coming up. By the way, Mel Kuiper, draft expert, in an hour from now. We'll check in with the Carolina situation coming up top of next hour. But when we come back, we get nominated occasionally for awards, but this guy wins awards. Darius Rucker will join us from London. I think he's recording a another album over there. Probably win an award or something. We'll take a break. Back after this. Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick show, weekdays at 9am Eastern, 6am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Paulie Fusco here with Tony Fusco. Yo, as everybody knows, we're the host of the award winning Paulie and Tony Fusco show. Yeah, but instead of us telling you how great we are, here's how Dan Patrick described us when he came on our show. Quick, knowledgeable and funny. Opinionated. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Dan Patrick
What are you doing?
Paulie Fusco
You're interrupting our promo. Yeah, he wasn't talking about you. You took those clips totally out of context.
Dan Patrick
Oh, yeah?
Paulie Fusco
Well, after this promo, I'm going to take you out and beat you. Let me put this into context. Shut up. Yeah. Anyway, just listen to the Pauli and Tony Fusco show on iHeartRadio Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. Yeah, just because the big game is over doesn't mean you can't have people over. Dan Patrick
Yeah, I woke up to that, you know, all over the BBC this morning. Oh yeah, I heard about. I'm sorry, man, I understand, I understand. You know, it's funny, I heard that I was thinking, because my song, if I told you, I really thought that song did have like, I didn't write it, but I thought that song was going to get something. And when they didn't get the CMA nomination, I texted the writer and said, man, I'm sorry, you should have let somebody else cut that song.
Paulie Fusco
You should have had Chris Stapleton singing.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, you should have somebody else sing. That's a monster.
Paulie Fusco
I was with you when you won your first Grammy in 1995.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie Fusco
And so Hooty and the Blowfish. And that's when I. Were you up against the band Live for that?
Dan Patrick
No, for, I think the, if I remember, for best artist, it was, I think Alanis and. And. And I don't know if life might have been in that too, but it was. Yeah, it was a good day.
Paulie Fusco
But they should win an award for the best use of placenta in a song. I don't think too many artists have used that since then in a song.
Dan Patrick
No, I agree. You know, Devin, Notorious B.I.G. that's it.
Paulie Fusco
But what's it like to win awards?
Dan Patrick
Oh, man, it's pretty Cool. Believe it or not. Believe it or not, at the Grammys, I'm 100%. Every time I've been nominated, I've won.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah. Great. Really happy for you.
Dan Patrick
I've only been nominated three times. Okay.
Paulie Fusco
You're. You're. You're three and zero.
Dan Patrick
That's true. I. I'm three. That's true. That's true. And, like, a lot of people know, like, the Jimmy Carter. The Jimmy Carter spoken word album won a Grammy last year, and I'm the only. And I sang a song for it, and I was the only single. I asked my management, I said, so they want to Grammy? Can I get the Grammy? He was like, yeah, you want to pay for it? I was like, I'll pay.
Paulie Fusco
Whatever it is.
Dan Patrick
I got four now.
Paulie Fusco
What about CMAs? Have you been in the audience when they don't call your name?
Dan Patrick
Oh, no, no.
Caller
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I have, but it's. But it's, you know, it's okay.
Caller
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I mean, you know me, man. I don't really expect to win. And so just being nominated is cool, but, you know, that's always cool.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah, but what about when you don't get nominated at all, like us? That's.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
There's moments. Yeah. Like. Like I said, like the song. There's been songs I thought I should have gotten nominated for and didn't, and it sucks.
Paulie Fusco
But I feel like we're the Miami Dolphins of Emmys. The Emmys make me cry.
Dan Patrick
I see that. I get that. I get that. Except the Dolphins won in 72.
Paulie Fusco
It doesn't seem that long ago, does it?
Dan Patrick
That was the layup, man. Yeah. Yeah. I say this all the time. They. The Dolphins won. The last time the Dolphins won the super bowl, I was seven. I'm about to be 60.
Paulie Fusco
Have you ever thought of bailing on the Miami door?
Dan Patrick
Never. Not once. Never in 1 in 13 season gutted me. The 1 in 15 season gutted me. But never.
Paulie Fusco
But if Dan Marino wasn't your friend and you named your daughter after Dan Marino, would you still be a Dolphins fan?
Dan Patrick
Absolutely. Like, I love Dan Marino, and he's one of my favorite. But I. I'm from Greasy and. And you know, Jim Kick and Mercury Morris, you know, those. Who are my boys, you know, that was. That was my line of Dolphins, but, you know.
Paulie Fusco
But yeah, I would.
Dan Patrick
I've never thought about leaving.
Paulie Fusco
How big are you in London? Like, when you walk around, do you get noticed?
Dan Patrick
I get recognized every now and then, you know, not as. Definitely not like in the States, you know. And I played deal two. You know, I played the O2 arena when I play here. So, you know, I do okay over here. Yeah.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
But it's definitely. I like the space.
Paulie Fusco
And then I'll see you this summer. You'll be. Yeah. You'll be nearby in Bridgeport again.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie Fusco
Now.
Dan Patrick
And you're coming out.
Paulie Fusco
Oh, yeah, I'll come out. Now. We still would want to offer a sincere apology for the last time when Todd played the second song. So you paid up on a bet. And I told Todd, Todd, I said, todd, sing one hall and Oates song. Did you know he was going to sing a second hall and Oates song that night?
Dan Patrick
No. The band. The band didn't even tell me. They didn't even tell me. It was awesome.
Paulie Fusco
When you looked at me off stage when Fritzi's singing and you. You mouth. You know, I pay up on my bets. And I felt bad because I. I think you realized it was funny in the moment when we made the bet, but it wasn't funny to the audience who had no idea who Todd was.
Dan Patrick
That's true.
Paulie Fusco
But.
Dan Patrick
But he's so good. But he's so good. That's the thing that's crazy is he's so good. He can really sing. And so.
Paulie Fusco
Not that night. Not that night.
Dan Patrick
That was. I thought he sounded great. Yeah, it was a great night.
Paulie Fusco
Okay. How many lead singers sing with their hands in their pockets?
Dan Patrick
Pretty.
Paulie Fusco
That's it. Like Freddie. Freddie Mercury didn't do it. Or Robert Plant or Jagger, but Todd had hands in his pants.
Dan Patrick
I can't think of one. But pretty does.
Paulie Fusco
Congratulations, though, in order, though, with what you're doing over in London with you got tour coming up.
Dan Patrick
Thank you.
Paulie Fusco
So, absolutely great to see you.
Dan Patrick
Hey, this is. I just tell you something real quick. It's funny. Like, 10 minutes before I was coming on, I'm just sitting around and I'm thinking about it. I was like, hey, man, I got. You know, I'm real good friends with Jimmy Johnson. You know, I was like, I gotta text Jimmy and ask if this is okay, because we just decided to do this and, you know, we can announce now that I'm one of the investors and one of the owners of Legacy Motor Club. So. So, you know, I don't ask cartoons. They look at me.
Paulie Fusco
Also, you're. You're Jimmy Johnson's Michael Jordan.
Dan Patrick
Absolutely. This is. You will love this. I just. I said I want to. When I see Michael, I'm going to go, hey, Michael, man, we got to start a new club. African American National.
Paulie Fusco
It's not. Take long to call roll.
Dan Patrick
Probably meetings in Ve.
Paulie Fusco
You know what? Get Tyler Perry. Maybe he could get involved here.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, it's cool. But I love, Yeah, I love, you know how much I love motorsport, you know, which I've lived in NASCAR for years, so this is pretty cool for me.
Paulie Fusco
No, I didn't know that. I know you sing there.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, I've been to a lot of races and stuff, and I got a lot of friends, you know, in that sport. But yeah, this is, this is pretty cool. And I'm Southern, man. Come on.
Paulie Fusco
Okay, we were talking about this with Michael Jordan. How involved is he at North Carolina? Hubert Davis getting fired. And I'm curious, how, how involved are you with South Carolina?
Dan Patrick
It's not like that, you know, what I say would make a difference, but I get, I get texts. Like, when, when things are getting tough, they, they check how. I mean, it doesn't, I don't think it would really matter, but they check what I would think. Yes, I would say that.
Paulie Fusco
But, like, investing, you know, can, can you do. Be part of the collective there? I know you. You got, like, some train car that you party in when you go to South Carolina football.
Dan Patrick
I am a part of the collective. I'm playing a show there. Hey, There you go. April 11th, I'm playing show at the, at the basketball arena for, for the collective. For the nil. For the nil thing. And.
Paulie Fusco
Okay.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, yeah, I think I got a. Not a lot of. I got, like, I tell you one thing, I got a lot of national championship rings that are gaudy as hell.
Paulie Fusco
Did you get. Wait, you got a wedding ring on. Oh, that's just my.
Dan Patrick
A ring to work out.
Paulie Fusco
Oh, okay.
Dan Patrick
I am not married. No, I did not get married. You will know.
Paulie Fusco
Okay, all right.
Dan Patrick
You will know.
Paulie Fusco
Okay. Yes. How's your bracket, by the way?
Dan Patrick
Not good. Not good. But, you know, who's this good? And this is me, Dan. This is, like, so me, you know, like, I'm in seven fantasy leagues and make the playoff in one. I, I do this league. I do. I'm doing this great bracket thing with some buddies of mine, but there's 14 of us, and we do a lot of sports stuff together. We're doing a bracket. I looked yesterday, man. I'm in last place. How's that possible?
Paulie Fusco
And you gamble, too.
Dan Patrick
Oh, man. Yeah, I gamble. I gamble. And yeah, I, I, I, I'm still gonna do this. Me and my buddy that played golf with Said we're gonna start a website. It's gonna Be. We have a great name for. It's gonna be the bets I make, and it's gonna be. I'm gonna tell you an hour before the game starts what best I'm gonna make, and you should go against me. And that's gonna be the whole website.
Paulie Fusco
But do you bet, like, Barkley level?
Dan Patrick
No, man. No, Dan, you know, I'm too scared to be broke to ever do anything like. We broke again? No, no, not at all. But you know it's gonna be enough to hurt. But they're not like that.
Paulie Fusco
All right, if I said the Dolphins can win a Super bowl or the Reds can win the World Series, since you have your Cincinnati Reds T shirt on.
Dan Patrick
Oh, Dolphins.
Paulie Fusco
Okay.
Dan Patrick
Oh, definitely.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I love the Reds. I hope he won World Series. But. Yeah, Dolphins football.
Paulie Fusco
But you love Barry Larkin, don't you?
Dan Patrick
My favorite baseball player of all time. Yes, I love Barry Lin. That 90s team, man. That 90s team. Are you kidding me? Great team.
Paulie Fusco
Eric Davis, great team.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Eric Davis. That whole team. And then the. The picture from the A's saying, after they get swept, you know, the thing that sucks is the best team didn't win. You just lost four games in a row. Yeah, that was a great team.
Paulie Fusco
When are you coming back stateside?
Dan Patrick
All of April. I got chills and stuff to do, so, you know. We need to get together, man.
Paulie Fusco
Okay, we will.
Dan Patrick
We're getting old, bro. We're getting old.
Paulie Fusco
You are.
Dan Patrick
You. You're older than me, dude.
Paulie Fusco
You had hair. When I knew you. That was pretty cool, too. It was. No, it. It's so weird. It's so weird to see you with hair, dude.
Dan Patrick
You remember how. Remember I was wearing the hair and I had the cul de sac growing right here? What is wrong with me? Bad days. Bad days.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah, but you don't miss your hair, do you?
Dan Patrick
Not at all. If I could grow it back, I would. No. No way. No, I don't miss it.
Paulie Fusco
Thanks for joining us.
Dan Patrick
I love you, man.
Paulie Fusco
I'll talk to you soon.
Dan Patrick
Real soon.
Paulie Fusco
All right, thank you, bud. That's Darius Rucker. He's a big country music star. He wins awards, and he'll be on tour this summer. For more information, you can go to Darius Rucker.com or follow him on social media at. Darius Rucker? Yeah. I remember him telling me, I mean, most people, baseball fans from the south probably grew up Braves fans just because you got to see the Braves. And I remember him saying, man, I love the Reds because I'm from Cincinnati. I said, how do you Love the Reds. He goes, I love Barry Larin. I'm like, all right, sure. Let's see a couple of phone calls in here before we take a break. Curtis in Illinois. Hi, Curtis. Welcome back.
Caller
Morning. Dp. Just a couple things here. Just first off, quickly, to Paulie's point, about having Jordan be so involved with Carolina and the recruiting and just using his name, I don't know that he pulled the any more than he used to. For somebody that's like my age at 43, that would be the greatest thing in the world. But to an 18 year old kid coming out of high school who might not ever seen him play, you know, if Kobe was still around, he'd probably be have that kind of pull. And secondly, I think I know why you're not getting nominated for the sports Emmy. And it's a little akin to the 49ers being next to that electrical substation and having all those like EMPs or whatever calls, all the injuries during the live look in. When you were placing your sports Emmy in front of Mario, I noticed he just coincidentally seems to be sitting right in front of your electrical panels with all of your circuit breakers. So I'm thinking maybe that's, you know, emitting some EMPs and scrambling in his brain and he's not putting together the best video.
Paulie Fusco
You know what, I'll get some of my best people on that. I won't rule out. Yes.
Tyler
I don't know if it was. It could be affecting Mario's brain. I wonder if it's affecting our phone
Paulie Fusco
calls of the people calling in or the connect. The connection.
Tyler
Yeah, the connection.
Paulie Fusco
Oh, maybe. Yeah.
Tyler
Also, I think that's kind of a hot take too, that college basketball players currently might not know who Michael Jordan is.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah. But your parents would.
Tyler
You know who plays basketball right now that doesn't know Michael Jordan is a thing that those kids that, that Curtis is talking about. The one thing they wanted for Christmas every year for their first 18 years of their life was a new pair of Jordans.
Paulie Fusco
Well, you know him as, it's like John Madden. People didn't know John Madden was a football Michael.
Tyler
You're, you're going on a recruiting trip and you visit a dozen schools and in one of them, Michael Jordan walks out and you're just like, who is this? Oh, that's the guy that was like Kobe.
Paulie Fusco
What? Oh, you were Kobe before.
Tyler
Oh, that's the guy that was like
Paulie Fusco
Kobe, but before him. By the, by the way, I ordered loser burritos. Loseritos. It's, it's a new loseritos. It's a new Spanish dish.
Tyler
Hey, loseritos.
Paulie Fusco
All right. And. And so I wanted to cheer everybody up since we didn't get nominated for a sports Emmy. If you're watching on peacock or NBC sports network, I had big day. Ray, order some loseritos. Yes, Marvin. Muy bien. Thank you. Gracias. It too.
Dan Patrick
Denara.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah, we'll take a break. More phone calls coming up. Check in with North Carolina sports. Top of the hour, Mel Kuiper, draft expert. Dan Patrick
Come on.
Paulie Fusco
No, no, I'm serious. Happens all the time. And you know, they're the official lawn care treatment provider, the PGA tour. So they know what it takes to get golf course quality lawns.
Tyler
So you're saying we could host a tournament out back?
Paulie Fusco
No, I mean, we could make. Yeah, I guess we can. If trugreen's doing all the work. No one makes it easier. They handle the treatments, the timing, everything.
Mario
I feel like I see them everywhere.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah. Beautiful lawns. And you know it's true green America's number one lawn care company. And chances are they're already in your neighborhood.

Paulie Fusco
Oh. Oh, okay. Do you think Mike Greenberg feels as bad as I do today that get up didn't get nominated? I don't know. I don't know if he cares as Much as I care. Yes.
Mario
Boy, hard working crew there. Up early in the morning. A lot of energy.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah. Yeah. You have to gotta get up. Maybe that's what we're lacking. Energy. Maybe we need more energy on this. Jesse in Vegas. Good morning, Jess. What's on your mind today?
Caller
Good morning longtime listener. 55190 going to work right now. Just a couple things. First, I totally get Dan Orlowski can have his opinion. But listening to on the Pat McAfee show talking about, you know, asking what Mendoza, what did he do in big games? That's where he lost me.
Paulie Fusco
That's true. That, that was not a good moment for Orlovsky.
Caller
Yeah. McAfee pretty much filleted him on all that. That's, that's a bad sign. So I think he's going to be good for Vegas. Mendoza. I do wish they would get someone like Flacco to come into that bridge, but I think he has a lot of heart and he wants to win. Second thing for the big German, I worked for a fire department out here in Vegas and I just wanted to send him a shirt so I don't know what size he wears. From a local fire department out here.
Paulie Fusco
No double X I would say for the big German if you have that. But thank you. It's very nice. Jesse. Rhonda in Texas joins us. Welcome back, Rhonda.
Caller
Good morning, Dan. Thanks for taking my call. Three quick things. A wedding suggestion for August the 15th for your daughter's wedding. Remember, remember to smile. It's been proven to curb the tears, so just keep smiling. Second, on behalf of the global fan base of Dan, Patrick, the Danettes, Tyler, Mario and the other backroom guys that we affectionately refer to as the backseat boys, may we present you all with the global fan base appreciation nominee history because we appreciate all you do. And lastly, as a teenager, what was your favorite dream sports car? Either one you owned or wish you would have owned. Thank.
Paulie Fusco
Thank you, Rhonda. I'm smiling through the pain today. I, well, considering I never really had a nice car growing up. My first car didn't have a floorboard in the back seat and you had to park it on a hill and jump start it. It was a 69 green Volkswagen. Any car was a nice car, but all of my friends had great cars. They had Corvettes, they had Monte Carlos, a Roadrunner, they had a 69 Chevelle, even a Mustang. They all had great cars. And I, I had terrible cars. I didn't get my license till I was 18 because I didn't have a car with six kids in the family. Like, why do I need a license? I'm. I actually. I took somebody out on a date, and we rode bicycles.
Mario
That's sweet.
Paulie Fusco
No, it wasn't. It was embarrassing. It can't make out on a bike. Yes.
Mario
Do you remember when you were like 10, 11, 12 years old where you saw a car and went, oh, my.
Paulie Fusco
Where you had, like, a reaction with hot Wheels? When I saw they had a fastback, I think it's like a two plus two fastback. Like, man, these hot wheel cars were awesome. Awesome. Let me see. Dylan in Orlando. Hi, Dylan.
Caller
Hey, Dan. Don't worry. I'm 25. Still don't have my driver's license. Anyways, bad news about the M, But I wanted to call into you guys and really give you kudos because, first of all, you guys are down to earth. You have great chemistry. You're kind. You're super kind to your fans. You know, you aren't falsely controversial, which is really what I like about you guys. You don't talk about just the NFL or one city. You clearly don't have favorites. Or if you have favoritism in sports, you definitely don't let it be perceived on the show. And I also wanted to say I hope Mario put my Dan Patrick is in fuego song in the Emmy mixtape. Maybe that would have helped you win or something. I don't know. God bless you guys.
Paulie Fusco
Well, thank you, Dylan. Yeah, Seaton, just quickly back to Rhonda
Tyler
in Texas real quick. She inadvertently dropped just an atom bomb in that call when she. She said that she was sorry for you not losing. And then she said Tyler, Mario, and the other guys. That's. She sort of just established a little bit of a listener hierarchy right there where it goes. Tyler, Mario, and then other guys right there. I'm pretty sure I could hear Ray from all the way in here.
Paulie Fusco
Go. Oh, that's great. Yeah. Well, Tyler does answer the phones.
Tyler
Yeah. And Mario, eyes and ears. And then there's just a whole bunch of other guys back there.
Paulie Fusco
Yeah.
Caller
Yeah.
Paulie Fusco
Well, they're not a lot of guys back there. There's a couple of guys back there. It's not a fortress back there. This from Shams. They're moving forward with expansion in the NBA, and it's gonna. The cost for an expansion team in the NBA between seven and $10 billion. They're taking steps here, but seven to $10 billion? I know LeBron said that he was not interested in expansion, and I had heard something to the contrary. He's involved in the Fenway Group. Obviously, they own the Red Sox. They own Liverpool soccer. And I was told that the Fenway Group was going to be bidding or thought to be bidding on the Vegas team, maybe. Like, I can't imagine what else LeBron's going to want to do, and that seems to be the natural progression. I thought he and Steph Curry might, you know, the NBA would encourage them to get involved with Vegas because Seattle, they're not affiliated with Seattle, but Vegas is a new franchise, and I thought that maybe you could get LeBron and Steph in that, but you would have to be retired, I would think, by the time, because you can't be, hey, I'm going in to play against my team. I'm on Golden State. I'm going to go play Vegas here. But I thought that maybe that was natural for LeBron to be part of that ownership group. Batman in Iowa. Hi, Batman.
Caller
Hey, Dan, thanks for taking my phone call. I'm sorry about the sports Emmy. Obviously, who wants an award from somebody that doesn't know what that they're doing? Also, it's funny because earlier Darius was on, and he may be the only person I've ever heard of whose two favorite teams are the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Reds. Those are mine. So that's cool.
Paulie Fusco
That's random. Yeah. But he, he's die hard. He is. He's die hard fan, certainly with the Dolphins. He did meet a woman, long, long time ago, and she thought that the Dolphins, the actual Dolphins, made him cry. And she was. Thought it was the sweetest thing in
Tyler
the world
Paulie Fusco
and that she said, well, why did the Dolphins make you cry? He goes, well, they lose all the time. He realized that we talk about the football team, not the actual Dolphins. Speaking of losing, we'll talk to somebody covering Carolina sports.
Tyler
