Hello, Malcolm Glabel here. We're here in New York City with T Mobile for Business recording another episode of Revisionist history about how 5G network slicing strengthens trust and connections across worldwide industries. Slicing can be used for so many different things. We're here with our friends from cnn from Siemens Energy. The ways that it can be used, frankly, are limitless and are really, really built to think through. How can T Mobile understand the pain points that our customers have? Smash those pain points and help you deliver very specific outcomes.

You are listening to the Dan Patrick show on Fox Sports Radio. It's hour two on this Monday. Want to thank all of our friends who showed up early here. If you'd like to join us, the China Basin park and first come, first serve. Got some seats there. If not, we have standing room only. But the people who came out, thank you for braving the weather. Although this isn't bad. You know, this. I. I can take a full week of this. I'm. Nobody's. Nobody's complaining here. There's a little chill in the air, but that's okay. Todd, you okay?
Dan Patrick
I am. Our families complain because almost every single year when we're in the middle of.
Paulie
Going somewhere, we're about to leave for.
Dan Patrick
The Super Bowl, a big snowstorm hits, and we go somewhere where it's 56.
Paulie
Degrees warmer and not a flake in.
Dan Patrick
So that's. The families have to deal with that.
Paulie
Thank you, Todd. Alrighty. 877-3-ADP Show. I feel bad that I committed that.
Dan Patrick
I'm like, I'm so glad I'm not shoveling the driver.
Paulie
Nothing to do anyway. But don't you realize, like, halfway through what you're saying that it's not really leading anywhere? And I'm going to say thank you.
Dan Patrick
Todd, or that there's a much shorter.
Paulie
Way of saying and getting to the point.
Dan Patrick
Both of those things are true.
Paulie
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Back to you in the studio.
Paulie
I just want to say this might be the best audience we've had so far in San Francisco. Yeah. Tough call to. Might be the best one. The sun is coming up, and we're on the other side of McCovey Cove with the ballpark right behind us. Beautiful ballpark. And I was wondering about this. How long do we expect stadiums to last? Like, how long is this stadium going to be here? Because, you know, there's certain ballparks. Fenway they added on and, you know, modern amenities. Wrigley they added on modern amenities. Bears probably moving out of Soldier Field. Remember when the Orioles went to Camden Yards? How big a deal that was? Like, whoa, wait a minute here. Look at what they did with really, the infrastructure there in the warehouse, you know, in right field. And I wonder, when you build things, how long do you expect them to last? Because it's usually about modern amenities that you want to put suites. Maybe you just want to be able to have it in a different location. You want to build kind of a little town like the Patriots did. Go up there and buy, you know, Christmas tree decorations and go to an Italian restaurant and go see the Patriots, you know, that sounds like Americana. Yes, Marv. You mean the Olive Garden. Let's not call it Olive Garden. Yeah. Yeah, Paulie.
Dan Patrick
So the Giants ballpark behind us is 25 years old. Next month it was Pac Bell Park, SBC Park, AT&T Park.
Paulie
But it was built here. And I'm looking back at the original.
Dan Patrick
Pictures, there was not much around here. There was a lot of ports and things like this. And the stuff came. Hotels, restaurants. There's tons of condos that are still.
Paulie
Being built around here.
Dan Patrick
It is a perfectly done ballpark. And I'm not pandering.
Paulie
The color, the tone, the.
Dan Patrick
The angle of which the view is. It's fantastic.
Paulie
Yeah. This is one of my favorite ballpark stadiums in America. They just did it right. You know, you want to have the vistas here. They took advantage of the water, the location, downtown, public transportation. Some of the best food I've ever had was actually in that stadium where you're going, damn, I got sushi here, beers on tap. It's really a beautifully done stadium. Yes. That's why. Yeah. The Giants did it exactly the way it's supposed to be done. Like, the way that actually our whole country is designed is you put stadiums and things like this to draw people down into downtown areas of cities, and there's public transportation that everybody can get there. You don't put a stadium in air quotes. A city. And then it's. But it's actually 45 minutes outside. So rent a car and then drive out there. That's not really the way it's supposed to be done. It's Boston, but it's actually 90 minutes outside of Boston or whatever. You know, it's like, not really. Like, put it in the city and you draw people to the city. Kind of like Chicago with the Bears. Want to move it to Indiana? Yeah.
Dan Patrick
North, northwest Indiana.
Paulie
Yeah, it's like the Chicago of Indiana, essentially.
Dan Patrick
It's actually right across the state line from where I grew up, but nobody wants it there.
Paulie
But how long does this stadium last? Well, like, if you look at this one, I'm sure they could add more.
Dan Patrick
Suites and things like this. But this is not a redo, like, a move.
Paulie
This might just be an upgrade. But how many of these stadiums have we said that about? Like, how many stadiums are 30 years old? You know, Kansas City's getting a new one. Buffalo's getting a new one. Bears are getting a new one. Tennessee is getting a new one. I don't know, like, what would we do if, you know, Wrigley Field and Fenway, because they're Wrigley and Fenway, we're not going to do anything about it, and we shouldn't. But they've added and it's. And it's downtown. You get to stay in a hotel, walk to the ballpark. And the same thing with Chicago. You get to go to Wrigleyville. And they did it right. And they did this right as well. Yeah, Paulie. And if you look at Wrigley Field, some locals are mad about what's being.
Dan Patrick
Built around Wrigley Field. There's more infrastructure, hotels. It's not the Wrigley of 30 years.
Paulie
Ago, but the option is moving it.
Dan Patrick
Like Seaton said, 40 miles away.
Paulie
You have to upgrade or move out. This is what I was hoping the Mets were going to do in New York. West side highway, have, you know, you'd have beautiful views there. You'd have access. People would have access to get to the ballpark instead of taking a subway out towards Queens to go, you know, to the Mets stadium. And it's, it's just another stadium. I know they're going to build, you know, a casino and, you know, they want to build. That's the newest thing. It's like, let's build our own little city here. And you're going to have people coming out to the ballpark while you're there. You could have dinner, you could go to the casino. But I still like what, you know, Wrigley did, what Fenway did, what they did here in San Francisco, what they did in Baltimore. And I'm sure I'm leaving out some stadiums, but I love the fact that you can get to a stadium and it's more inclusive there. But we'll have the president and CEO of the Giants joining us coming up in an hour from now. Larry Bear. I wonder if he could just. If I said, hey, can you turn on more lights? Could you turn on the Jumbotron? Like, does he have something on his phone? Like, we might. That we can control the lights at our home? He is the boss. If he makes a phone call, they're.
Dan Patrick
Firing that bad boy up.
Paulie
Yeah, I would think one phone call. If you're watching on Peacock or the NBC Sports Network. Good morning. Thank you for joining us. We'll get to more phone calls as we always do every Monday. Best and worst of the weekend. Did I mention that it's a meat Monday here? Brought to you by Heartland Steak Company. We have bacon wrapped scallops coming up. Wagyu steak and eggs and loaded baked potatoes. Who has it better than we do? All right. You know, I'm getting old. Getting old takes a little more energy.
Dan Patrick
So you're gonna need your inhaler.
Paulie
So Todd's here, the minister of Humor Seaton's here. Paulie Marv, yours truly, the Monday morning quarterback Albert Breer will join us coming up here in a little bit. The commissioner meeting with the media later on today and he'll have some questions. I don't know what kind of questions probably. And this is what they do. This is no different that, you know, if you're going on trial for something and you're going to have lawyers prep you, they're going to say they're going to ask this question. They may ask it this way. What are our answers? He knows what the questions are going to be. He knows somebody will ask about Bad Bunny. He knows somebody's going to ask about 18 games. He'll he knows somebody's going to ask about the field, the turf. He's going to have somebody probably ask about the Giants co owner Steve Tisch, who's been mentioned in the Epstein files. That will be a interesting answer there. Or how they pose that question about him being I don't know if anything happens to the Giants like the investigation into the Giants, but Steve Tisch, the co owner of the Giants mentioned in the Epstein files, international play, that's going to be a big deal. I was told this years ago that they would eventually get to 18 games. But your 18 games, the 18th game will be internationally, so the extra game is going to be automatically overseas. Everybody's going to play a game overseas. Now, I don't know if that's going to come to fruition anytime soon. You're going to have a new TV deal probably after 2029, I think. I think they're going to package these games, the international games, for one network, like whoever bids the highest, they get all of the international games. I mean, whatever the NFL is selling, people are buying and I think that's what's going to happen. So we'll talk to Albert Brewer, the Monday morning quarterback. Also, Diana Rossini's done a wonderful job this year. Podcast Scoop City with Chase Daniel. She'll join us a little bit later on as well. All right, poll question for hour two is going to be what Seton got a very romantic poll question here from Paul. Romantic. It's very romantic, yes. Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets? Are we filling out a dating profile right now?
Dan Patrick
Question mark not right now, I'm not.
Paulie
I, I, I have a hobby. I'm gonna admit this. Yeah, you do. I have a hobby and it's taking pictures of sunsets. Yes. That's the worst. I do, I, I have, I don't know what Happened. I. Look, I'm a lonely person. Is that why you're always, like, making us have dinner so early? Because you have to catch the sunset golden hour. We're eating at 5. Okay, I have to eat at 5. And, like, the subtext of that is sunset at 6:21. I know. And you get me on the West Coast. I am not fun to be with because I'm like, hey, come on. 4:30 dinner. Here we go. Are you kidding me? A Pacific sunset. Are you kidding me? And then last night, it's like, Todd goes, can we wait till five? And I go, yeah, wait till five. And then it went to around 5:20. And I go, okay, come on, let's get some appetizers. Let's go. You have a sunset journal or book.
Dan Patrick
Or something you could display on a coffee table?
Paulie
What do you got? I could. I'm not joking. I. I have mastered the sunset. I am. And I'm in the sunset of my career. You're not sun setting? No, no, no. But close, yes. Paul. So you take these pictures.
Dan Patrick
They're on your phone, and. And then you do what with them?
Paulie
I send them to my family. I do. That's it. How's. What's their response? They. They know it and they love it. And they go, wow. Or they'll go thumbs up or they'll give a heart emoji. It's awesome. I like it. The cowboy hat one? No, no, no. That's your big one. I do love the cowboy hat emoji.
Dan Patrick
What is that about?
Paulie
I think it's just. I'm like. Like I'm a wild guy. The sheriff approves this. I. I did. I love sending you a text about something that's like, hey, man, like, this is happening or whatever. And you get back cowboy. Ha. I might have to expand my emojis, but way better than a thumbs up.
Dan Patrick
Or the letter K. You can't even type.
Paulie
Okay.
Dan Patrick
What do you think of this guy as a guest? Okay.
Paulie
All right. Okay. You've complained about this on numerous occasions.
Dan Patrick
It's worth bringing up again.
Paulie
No, no. I'm trying to be better about the K, but I do that with my kids. You know, I. I just don't have time. You're very busy. Thank you. We should respect your time. Yes. What were you saying about flight attendants? Saying the same thing over and over and over and over. To drink. Something to drink. Something to drink. Didn't.
Dan Patrick
Why does this bother you?
Paulie
The movie.
Dan Patrick
Headsets.
Paulie
Headsets, headsets, headsets. Didn't David Spade do a Saturday Night Live where they're exiting the airport. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Bye bye. Bye.
Paulie
Bye bye. Okay, so the romantic. Are you a sunrise or sunset? Yes. Are you a sunrise or a sunset? Okay. And right now, the best musical artist from the Bay Area, Metallica, currently winning that one. Okay.
Dan Patrick
All right.
Paulie
I might go Grateful Dead on that. Currently in last Santana. And that is just grossly inappropriate. Oy, Todd, you gotta do your boy. Chris Berman would say. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Paulie, Back to our hard hitting poll question. Sunrises or sunsets? Cornell University did a study.
Paulie
Watching either sunrises or sunsets can reduce.
Dan Patrick
Your stress for up to 21% for.
Paulie
The rest of the day or the rest of the evening.
Dan Patrick
Now one part of this study is.
Paulie
People who prefer sunrises are more enthusiastic go getters.
Dan Patrick
And people who like sunsets are sometimes.
Paulie
People who are having a rougher day.
Dan Patrick
And want something to end their day nicely.
Paulie
That's usually after 15 emails from Todd. I knew that was coming.
Dan Patrick
Double down.
Paulie
And I have to walk down to the beach.
Dan Patrick
So glad the day is over. And that's what the sunset means to me.
Paulie
It's great. I mean, I'll take a sunrise, but I'm a sunsetter. Sunrise though, when you don't have to work is fantastic. Yeah. When you're off duty. Yes. Marvin. So is the sunset. Are you going out with Mrs. Patrick? You guys? I think we're gonna keep it inside.
Dan Patrick
Okay.
Paulie
Then, you know, turn on the tunes. When the lights go down in the city.
Dan Patrick
You guys know we're on air, right?
Paulie
Yeah.
Dan Patrick
Is it romantic reasons that you like the sunset or you just like the look of how changes the colors of the sky?
Paulie
What's the deal with that? What do you think?
Dan Patrick
All the above, I guess.
Paulie
And then maybe. No, I just like the sunset. It has.
Dan Patrick
You have to explain yourself a little more.
Paulie
You can't just like the sunset. Why?
Dan Patrick
Because there's got to be a reason to like anything. You like the sunset because it makes the sky have that on. Headphones. Do you need headphones? Do you need headphones?
Paulie
Rubbish. Trash. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. Yeah. Water. Coffee. Water. I, I love the colors. I love colors. You know, I love art.
Dan Patrick
You do love.
Paulie
And I, I. One of my favorite artists is Wolf Kahn. And if you see his paintings, they are full of color. They are full of colors that you might find in a sunset. That's a real person.
Dan Patrick
Wolfgang, you just made that up just now.
Paulie
Okay, if it's not a real person.
Dan Patrick
I'm sure it is.
Paulie
If it is a real person. No. I'm gonna smash you in the face. With a pod.
Dan Patrick
I don't want to. Okay, I'll take your word for it.
Paulie
Wolf Kahn. Is it your. One of your favorite. Why don't you google him? I have no time. He's a legendary artist who pass away. Passed away. Yeah. No, now you are.
Dan Patrick
Recently.
Paulie
Yeah, a couple years ago.
Dan Patrick
What is the statute of time to say? Sorry to hear that. Sorry for your loss.
Paulie
I would say 10 years. You're right. This is a lot of color. These are very sunset like. I'm looking at one of a wolfcon painting of a forest. Yes. And it's really beautiful. It's a little like. What are those watercolors kind of thing. It's a little Monet. Oh, oh, Monet. Monet. Really? Monet. I've been in Monet's garden, by the way. Beautiful, gorgeous. Is that a euphemism? Speaking of sunsets. Yeah, yeah. If you know what I mean. Sally Monet. Monet's garden.
Dan Patrick
There's also a Manet, right?
Paulie
There's a Monet. There is a Manet and Monet Mayonnaise. All right, Elman's manner. How about we take a break here? No one breaks down Super Bowl 60 like we do. So many storylines. All right, gonna take a break. Albert Greer, the Monday morning. We'll see if he's still going to join us here. Commissioner, are you a Wolfcon fan and how do you feel about sunsets? Let me see anything I Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America. The official trading cards of the program. We will get some more phone calls. It is a Monday, best and worst of the weekend. Good morning, Buddha. What up, dp? Just sitting here enjoying the sunrise. Best and worst of the weekend. Worst is LeBron making the All Star Game. I'm just over this iteration of the Lakers. And I'm also here to collect on the bet, Dan, since I'm here. Well, Marvin owes me a pie to the face for my Dodger World Series. And being here, we're both on set. The set. Just saying. We'll discuss that. Marvin, you look a little surprised. I'll have no pie clothes. Oh, that's out. Okay. No, no pie clothes. No pie clothes. Okay. But you did bet I did. Okay. I will live up to. Okay.
Dan Patrick
My bet for sure.
Paulie
All right, fair enough. He's the Monday morning quarterback and it just happens to be Monday. And always generous with his time. Whenever we call is available Albert Brear, the Monday morning quarterback, their senior NFL reporter who joins us here in the man cave with Albert. There he is. Look at him once again. If we had. Yeah, you'd be right there right next to me. All right. But if we, if we did have an octagon. Insider, NFL insider. I got like Glazer is going to win that.
Dan Patrick
I've got reach on everybody, though, I think. Right.
Paulie
Could. Could you. So I take Glazer off the board. Can you take Adam Schefter?
Dan Patrick
I mean, I think. Yeah, I got. I'm younger, I'm taller.
Paulie
Okay, so. Okay.
Dan Patrick
I think so.
Paulie
Yeah. Paulie Schefter is stockier, low profile, lower to the ground.
Dan Patrick
Albert again does have reach and confidence. Yeah.
Paulie
Okay. Peter King, you could.
Dan Patrick
Jake, I, I. Nobody could hit Peter, though, right? Oh, just because he's too good a guy.
Paulie
Too nice.
Dan Patrick
Too good a guy.
Paulie
Yeah, Yeah.
Dan Patrick
I mean, I, like, I just couldn't do that. No way.
Paulie
But if you had to. If you had to. I put him.
Dan Patrick
I put him in. I put him in a headlock just so I didn't do any real damage.
Paulie
So you just put him to sleep. Yeah. Okay. All right. You get the first question to the commissioner today?
Dan Patrick
Yeah. So you asked me this before. I think there are three uncomfortable questions that he could be asked today that I think, to me, probably need to be asked. Number one is the Rooney Rule, which. There were 10 head coach hires. It's all done now. Not one African American hire. There are only three African American head coaches left. There was only one minority hire. That was Robert Sala to the Titans. So that'd be. Number one is. Do you feel like you've taken a step back? It also happens to be in the year they canceled the accelerator, they generally had this, this networking event for minority coaches in the spring that this year they canceled it. There was some suspicion that that was done because of the deal they were trying to do with the current administration. The merger. Right. Like that. There were some moving pieces there.
Paulie
Wait, explain that.
Dan Patrick
Well, I mean, at the very least, there were rumblings out there that while they were. While the merger was going through because the Justice Department needs to approve it.
Paulie
This is NFL Network and espn.
Dan Patrick
Right, Right. That there were rumblings that they were going to do what they needed to do to appease the current administration to get this stuff pushed through. So at the very least, I know there were people that felt like it was bad optics, that they were canceling that event and that they had a photo op with the president, if you remember, to announce the 2027 draft in the Oval Office. That was the first photo op that a sitting commissioner has done with the president in 22 years. So you had the combination of the merger, the diversity event getting canceled, and then the photo op of the president all happening at once. So there are people that put those pieces together. So I think there are big picture questions that need to be asked on the Rooney Rule. Another uncomfortable question is what we all saw at the Epstein files on Friday, right? Multiple NFL owners named. Obviously one I think was on a completely different level than the rest. How does Steve Tisch, how does Steve Tisch's involvement in the Epstein files affect his ownership of the Giants going forward? And then the third uncomfortable question I think is more of a football question, which would be the state of officiating, because I do think to some degree it's just there's not enough trans. I don't know how you guys feel watching it, but I cover this stuff for a living and it's, it's hard for me to tell and I know how this stuff works. Hard for me to tell who's making the decisions, you know, so, like the lack of transparency, especially when you're doing business with the gambling companies the way that you are now. Does there need to be more transparency? I, I, I've advocated, I, I think, and this is, this isn't on the officials themselves, but I think they've just continued to pile new technology on top of new technology on top of top of new technology, rule change on top of rule change on top of rule change. They've tangled it up and made it so hard for the officials to adjudicate the game out there. And to me, it's like you've seen what it looks like at field level. It's a blur.
Paulie
Oh, my God.
Dan Patrick
You have to train your eyes to look for things. And if you're giving guys 50, 15 new things to look at every year, points of emphasis, rules changes. And then on top of that, they know Big Brother's watching, right? They got the camera watching. And so they've got that in their head. It just feels like this is something where we have all this technology now. Maybe it's time to rebuild the thing altogether, right? And figure out a better way to use the technology. Because just taking the old system and piling technology on top of it, I don't think is working.
Paulie
They need to subtract. I keep saying, stop adding, start subtracting.
Dan Patrick
Tear it down to the studs and like, find a more efficient way.
Paulie
Can we listen? Do you think we'll get to the point where we get to listen what the conversation is during a replay?
Dan Patrick
It's an interesting idea. I hadn't thought of that.
Paulie
The ACC is doing, I've, I've said it for years. If, if you have nothing to hide, right? If we're all in it together to get it right. Yeah, let's listen. Like the Broncos interception, like that's not even reviewed, I don't think.
Dan Patrick
I mean, it was so quick and that was the problem Sean McDermott had with it. Right. It wasn't, it wasn't that like, but.
Paulie
Even with the timeout though.
Dan Patrick
Right. And he tried, but, but it just felt like it was rushed through. Right. And so like, what's the process there? And I do think, I mean, maybe you don't give it to the fans in the moment, but you give it to them at some point. I mean, I, I don't know. I guess the, the, the, the, the downside to that would be potentially vilifying an individual, vilifying an official. That said, that's what happens to the coaches and players on a weekly basis.
Paulie
But we don't remember you if you get it right. We remember if you get it wrong. So if it exonerates you now, I know that, you know, go back to the Rams and the Saints in that, in that game.
Dan Patrick
Pass interference.
Paulie
Yes. Yeah. And a helmet to the, the head as well. They could have called. Two things. If you put together an all star officiating crew, nobody wants to rat out somebody else and say you missed the call and you can ask for help. And I think if you have your team together that you're with the whole year, you got my back.
Dan Patrick
Yep.
Paulie
I'm not going to remember you if you get the call right. I'll remember if you get the call wrong. And I think that's what the NFL needs to do.
Dan Patrick
And I think that, that, that's why I've always advocated for the sky judge, like having that person be a part of. In the stadium.
Paulie
Yeah, right.
Dan Patrick
That person should be there. And like, I just think the having the man behind the curtain in New York who may or may not be worried about what public perception is going to be on Monday or Tuesday, like having having an experienced official in the booth as part of the equation when it comes to the on field crew and they're accountable to each other. And that guy up in the booth, like he has to see the coaches before the game on the field, he's accountable to the coaches. He's accountable to the players too. I felt like that was an answer. Maybe not the answer, but one of the answers that we could get to all.
Paulie
He's the Monday morning quarterback. Albert Breer, Senior NFL reporter How does the commissioner answer the Steve Tisch Epstein file question?
Dan Patrick
My guess would be how would you pose the question? I would I would say, how are you going to handle. Maybe I will be the one to ask it. How, how are you going to, how, how are you going to handle owners appearing in the Epstein files and how are you going to separate one from the other? Because I think there were. I, I want to say it was four. Four of them so far at least have, have surfaced in the Epstein files.
Paulie
But the Tish one, the Tisch one, is way.
Dan Patrick
It's like a different level, or at least it reads that way now. He's put out his statement, but it reads like, like the other ones are just sort of tangentially involved. I'm almost hesitant to name them because it doesn't. There's no proof that they're actually involved in the wrong, the real horrible, horrified, like the wrongdoing there. But, you know, like with, with Tish, it's like, okay, like, how do you separate that? And then can the NFL go forward with a guy who is in this sort of, who, who now has this on his record, is representing the NFL? Right. And they always say they hold the owners to a higher standard. Well, this has got to be something where you prove it and you show it. And so it'll be interesting to see, to see the way that that one's handled.
Paulie
Does the commissioner care about the voting process of the hall of Fame? Will that question come up?
Dan Patrick
He's not really involved in it. That's the thing. It's like.
Paulie
But it's still the NFL, Right.
Dan Patrick
And that's what people don't really recognize. The NFL doesn't run the hall of Fame as its own entity now can they influence it?
Paulie
But it is in conjunction with.
Dan Patrick
Right. And it does reflect on the NFL because most people aren't like you and me. Most people don't just. There's no distinction.
Paulie
Right. Yeah.
Dan Patrick
So for most people, like, if something goes wrong with the Pro Football hall of Fame, most people are. What you're saying is most people will associate it with the NFL itself. I, like, I, I think he could definitely, you know, have an audience with them. And you know, this particular case is fascinating to me because, and I, for everybody who doesn't know, they've grouped the seniors together now with coach and the contributor. I think the main problem now is the seniors, by definition are almost last chance candidates. Right. So you almost have, if you're a voter, you almost have to treat those as, I'm going to get one shot to put this guy in. Whereas, you know, with Bill Belichick, with Robert Kraft, you might get multiple shots You've already gotten multiple shots to put Kraft in, right?
Paulie
You.
Dan Patrick
You're probably gonna get multiple shots to put Belichick in. And so to me, the way I would vote it, if I had a vote is I would look at each of them as yes, no. And if there are four yeses, I take the three most emphatic yeses.
Paulie
Right.
Dan Patrick
I think the way other people are interpreting this is, well, this might be my last chance to get this guy in, so I'll get around to that guy later. And I just think so much of that being left to interpretation is sort of the problem here.
Paulie
But do you think it's a coincidence that Belichick didn't get voted in, or is this a small group effort?
Dan Patrick
You mean, like, there's people banding together against him? Yeah, I don't know that. I, I. So I talked to a handful of voters. This came up in New England on one of the shows I do, and a producer asked me, hey, could you, like, just look into the chances Kraft and Belichick, ABBA getting in? So I poked around, and I called a handful of voters I knew, you know, really well, and trust. And every one of them said, well, Belichick, there's no question it's going to be 50 for 50. And so I started looking at, like, Kraft's candidacy then as, like, okay, if there's 150 votes, because that's what it would be. Everybody gets to vote for three. There are 50 voters, and Belichick gobbles up 50 of them. Well, then it's going to be harder for any of the other four guys to get in. And so I think for a lot of the voters, it was genuinely stunning that Bill didn't get in, and they were surprised it wasn't unanimous. So there's some divide there on the way that people are interpreting this. And I was shocked. I mean, I. I can't believe 11 people didn't vote for him. You know, and I. And I'm normally, I'm normally one of these guys. Like, I look at that, like, and I. That's a hard job. You know what I mean? And you've got people's legacies in your hands, and that's a really difficult, like, how do you separate one person from the next? Like, that's all. So I, I've, I've been hesitant in the past to say, like, yeah, that guy's an idiot for voting this way, because I. I don't have a vote, you know, like, so I don't. Like, I haven't been in that spot, but this one, to me, is so overwhelmingly obvious. It's the greatest coach of all time.
Paulie
Well, nobody's getting in first ballot. No coach is getting in first ballot. I mean, after this.
Dan Patrick
Yeah.
Paulie
No one.
Dan Patrick
I mean, I think it's ridiculous that Mike Shanahan's not in. You know what I mean? Like, and I said this last year, I. I think. I mean, it's like he won two Super Bowls. He's been out for, what, over a decade now, and half the league is running his offense. And, like, more than half of that group of offenses is run by people who worked for him. You know what I mean? Like, so you go down and you look at his tree.
Paulie
I mean, it is.
Dan Patrick
It's right there with the. And he's part of the Wall Street, I guess, right? Like, because he worked for Seaford. Yeah, but it's like, it's as big as the Wall street was or bigger. And his influence on the game has been so immense. So I look at Shanahan as, like, that is so simple for me. And Bill won six. I just. I don't know. It's crazy to me because I do think it's one sport. I agree. Players should get in over coaches generally, but it is. Having covered this, covered the league for 21 years, I think it's the sport where the coaches have the biggest influence in winning and losing. Yeah.
Paulie
Yeah. Well, you know, there's 18 games, 17 games, and then you got the playoffs, and, yes, you're going to make a bigger impact week in and week out. I just. I find it strange that we're now parsing the. Well, what was Belichick's record without Brady And I go, right, did we do that to any other coach in. In history where we. We did this? And the answer is no. And if you said, hey, he cheated, okay. And if that's your reason that he cheated, fine, just tell me. But don't vote for him next year because he's still cheated.
Dan Patrick
And that's what the first ballot thing kills me.
Paulie
I know.
Dan Patrick
It just kills me because I'm like, all right, so, like, now you're the judge, jury, and executioner. Like, to me, it's a yes or no question. It should be hard to get in.
Paulie
Right.
Dan Patrick
And so to me, it's not a. I'm not ranking the hall of Famers. It's either yes or no. And if I have to vote no on somebody because there's a limit on how many people I can vote for, then so be it. Right? Like, if it's, there are seven deserving guys and I can vote for five and that, that means I'm leaving two deserving guys off. Like, and that's the reason why they're not first be at ballot, so be it. But it shouldn't be. Well, I don't view him the same way as this other guy. Like, it should be the five most emphatic yeses if you have five votes. And in this case, like, I don't know how you could look at that list and it was Elsie Greenwood, Ken Anderson, Roger Craig, Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick and say he's not one of the three most deserving guys in that list. That makes no sense.
Paulie
All right, real quick. The best coaching hire and the most questionable coaching hire.
Dan Patrick
I mean, it's hard not to say John Harbaugh because I think he's going to be a real difference maker for the Giants. I am fascinated to see Kevin Stefanski in Atlanta because of everything that he dealt with in Cleveland. And I think he's a much better coach than people realize. And I think when you look at him like how there was a groundswell of teams coming after him, right, and the Giants were in on him and Tennessee was in on him and Miami was in on him and it was, I mean, I'm just telling you, like the pursuit of him. It wasn't quite what it was with Harbaugh, but it was not far off. And that tells you what the league thinks of him, you know. So the easy answer is Harbaugh, he's a Super bowl winning coach. That puts you on a different plateau. But I mean, Kevin Stefanski is not far off. I mean, the one that people have the biggest question on, I think is going to be Mike LaFleur in Arizona, which I think is really reflective of them having a little bit less to sell. They've got a complicated quarterback situation because Kyler Murray has guaranteed money not just this year, but next year. Shout out to his agent.
Paulie
That's pretty incredible.
Dan Patrick
So, so how do you, how do you, how do you separate, right, like from, from Kyler Murray and you know, so like that, I think Michael Fluor, because that was a job that I don't think was seen as being very desirable. You're going to be attached to a GM who's going into his fourth year. So you're now on his timeline. That one, I think is going to be challenging and I think it's sort of indicative, honestly. Dan, I said to you last year, right, that I thought, I think I Said that like Stafford was going to be the big story. Right. And. And I think it was for that month after. And I think I had the Steelers getting Stafford. They wind up with Rogers instead. I think some of these teams out here are going to quietly take big swings at quarterback and call teams. You wouldn't think that you, you'd be able to call. And I think that that's going to be a big piece now. We're going to have like the reclamation.
Paulie
Would you take a swing at Joe Burrow?
Dan Patrick
I would call. I mean, and that's sort of what I'm getting.
Paulie
Okay.
Dan Patrick
You know, like, I think teams are going to call Cincinnati on Joe Burrow. I think teams are going to call Houston on CJ Stroud. Now, please don't aggregate this and say anyone is shopping anyone, because that's not what.
Paulie
Good luck with that.
Dan Patrick
That's not what this is. But when you look at the makeup of where we are, right? And look, Fernando Mendoza, I mean fit him in silver and black right now, he's going to be. He's going to be. He's going to be a Las Vegas Raider. There's a massive drop off. There's not another quarterback that people are excited about in this year's class. And that's even if Trinidad Chambliss winds up in the class that's including Ty Simpson. Like, there's just not another one. And even Mendoza isn't seen as like, what the way Caleb and Jaden Daniels and. And Drake May were. I think Fernando Mendoza would have been the fourth quarterback in that class. So because of that, teams are going to have to be a little bit more creative. So do you call Cincinnati on Burrow? Do you call Houston on CJ Stroud? And then you have like, I think the more natural reclamation projects would be, which would be Mac Jones with the Niners to be able to get something for. Because his contract is very reasonable. You know, Tuatanga Baloa, Kyler Murray, Malik Willis. Yeah. So Malik Willis is a very interesting name. Does Jeff Hafley bring him to Miami from Green Bay? You know, John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Halfley were with him in Green Bay. So I just think that there's going to. I just think this year because of the draft class is going to require creativity, which I think will cause some teams to at least pick up the phone on a. On a sort of. All they can say is no basis.

Now the question because they don't want to pay him and you know, you get to that point. That's why Baker Mayfield was really smart. Now, maybe he didn't have other options, but when you're going to get 35 million instead of 55 or 60 million, you make the decision easier for the team that is going to sign you. Sam Darnold in Seattle. There has to be that sweet spot for both where you go you're not 50 or 60, even though your agent's going to think you are. But you got to find a sweet spot that says how about 37 million? And you know, easy for me to say, but if you get guaranteed money and you're going to stay where you want to stay, that's what the NFL has to get to that point. If not, you're going to see some of these guys are going to be let go, including CJ Stroud. Todd Best and Worst of the Weekend Best of the weekend Friday night, Marina.

My worst but was actually the best was during the Grammys. Cher had a really funny moment. She accepted like a lifetime achievement award and then walked off. But she was supposed to do record of the year, and she just sort of, in true Cher fashion, she managed to, in the most charming way possible, throw everyone under the bus. Not a lot of people that could do that where you're like, ah, look at Cher, you know, ripping on everybody. That's great. All right, Paul.
Dan Patrick
I was watching some NBA. So my best of the week the other night was Joel Embiid, 40 and 11.

Paul George banned 25 games for taking improper medication.
Dan Patrick
It's questionable if what he was taking was some type of ped. Doesn't appear to be. Hopefully he gets a good look at that.
Paulie
So. Well, he's. It was on the banned list, but he said that it had to do with mental health. Now I don't. I mean, does he get an audience with the commissioner? But I'm going to guess that he will appeal this. But 25 games and Joel Embiid surprised me because I thought, man, that's gonna. You're gonna be dragging his contract until, you know, he's not gonna be able to play anymore. But he's been. He's been really good. Also. It. I think the information came out, don't rule out the 76ers with Giannis. And I thought, okay. And then I saw another one that said the Chicago Bulls right now are the betting favorite to get Giannis. Could you imagine the Bucks trade with Chicago given the proximity with those two franchises? But I don't know what Chicago is going to give up, but that I thought was really interesting.
Dan Patrick
Yeah, Paul, the closest thing to inside info we have, Giannis owns a piece of a Greek restaurant in Chicago.
Paulie
And everyone in Chicago is using that.
Dan Patrick
As some type of hook that Giannis is going to move as if he's going to manage the restaurant.
